These three couples have changed my life. Quite literally. And I know I'm not alone. There is a truth to each of these relationships that touches me to the core; it warms me and tears me apart at the same time.

Callie and Arizona helped me realize what was possible. Alex and Maggie showed me who I can be and how to live a life, authentic and real. Carina and Maya are teaching all of us what real commitment can look like, and it isn't always pretty.

Of these three beautiful couples, Sanvers had - and continues to have - the biggest impact on my heart, my soul, my life. The why and how are for another post, and it will require me to bare my soul, something I'm not quite ready for just yet.

One thing that makes me mad, though, about the writing of them all, is the theme of kids and how it almost (or completely) broke them. I get it. I do. It hits closer to home than I'd like to admit. And in every single case, the writing is true to reality. This is what can happen. But it doesn't have to happen.

For once I'd like to see a mature relationship between women, where having/not having kids is not a dealbreaker; women who are fighting their own demons and are trying to grow their bond as beautifully as these six ladies.

I get it, there are other stories out there. But I'm not interested in some college kids or created-to-be-broken storylines. What these three storylines have in common is their incredible potential for the individual and the couple. Their love for each other (I caveat that by saying: for Callie and Arizona up until the plane crash) is beyond reproach, the writing impeccable, the chosen actors a perfect choice. That's rare. So rare. Even rarer, yet unseen, is a storyline of this caliber where the couple is not subjected to the - inevitable - question of the womb.

I will keep waiting for it. But it's not every year, or every show, that you find a couple as magnanimous as Calzona, Sanvers, or (though I dislike the ship name) Marina.

I just felt like izzex had more chemistry and they loved each other so much and he always had a special.place in his heart for her. he loved jo yes but he never loved jo like he did izzie imho, Izzie was the love of his life but jolex were amazing together and they loved each other so much and it wasn't till my last couple rewatches I started to like them because I loved izzie and izzex so much tbh lol

Someone in the Marina fandom is reposting a Brittana story on AO3, changing the characters names to be relevant for Station 19, and then claiming this is simply “allowing more people to enjoy this writer’s incredible work”. They are publicly crediting the original author, but they are also doing this without the original author’s consent.

It’s not the first time I’ve seen this happen in this fandom - something similar was done with an old Calzona story that the original author had actually gone on to self-publish. The fan reposting only removed the stolen story when presented with the Amazon link for the published book.

Let me be the perfectly clear when I state, for the record, that NO ONE has permission to republish my written work ANYWHERE. No matter the intentions or how great you might think it is. My work is my own creation, my own time spent, and mine to decide what to do with. It is not flattering to take someone else’s work and repost it, especially not without their consent. It is plagiarism and it is wrong.

This is my biggest fear as a fanfic writer and it haunts me to think of people being able to have just regular, free access to my work to then alter or repost wherever they please. Like, enough to want to just take everything down and never post again.

Y’all are fucked if you think what this fan is doing is okay.

i’ll be honest i find the physicality of smut challenging to write, ie like not writing sex but actually like overall physical movement which is so important in smut. if you notice in an average fic of mine, there tends to be fairly limited physical description and a lot more dialogue and internal monologue. but with smut, you want the opposite. but i think i’m getting better! so i’m glad!

how did you come up with the title for keeping the bullet? is it from a song?

i thiiink i mention this in chapter 1, but keeping the bullet comes from a richard siken poem called wishbone, which i can’t recommend enough. the entire line is “but I think I’d rather keep the bullet this time. //It’s mine, see, you can’t have it, //I’m not giving it up. This way you still owe me, and that’s as good as anything.” which feels very late stage calzona to me— tbh a lot of that poem does

keeping the bullet was actually the last of three titles i kicked around for a bit though! the original title was “The Center Will Hold” in reference to the quote “the center will not hold”, and then for a quick minute it was “Exit Wounds” which ultimately didn’t feel hopeful enough

i can’t rank breakups that is so sad they all were bad. for calzona seasons it’s

8,5,6,7,9,10,11,12 - 10 was bad cuz they were so unhealthy. the scene where callie kisses her to shut her up and says “maybe we shouldn’t talk as much” was so stressful

Right! Loads of people love that scene but it stressed me out so much! I just want them to be happy I hated seeing them be so toxic to one another. I fully endorse your ranking though, it’s quite similar to mine!
