Farewells Said. (And Farewells Not Said)
1084 is very clever with the characters it includes together in scenes, easily worth a post.
Luffy, Nami, Chopper, and Brook & our Kozuki friendos, sans Kin, Momo, and Hiyori, begin what appears to be a concluding scene, though what I love is that it never fully concludes because of Carrot interrupting. That's a trick Wano plays all the time. Giving characters scenes or having them being involved in ways that affect or say something about others. We'll see it all through out this episode.
Hiyori and Toko will have a scene with Zoro later in this episode, and Kin and Momo will have theirs in 1085. Though that interaction for every other Kozuki friend remains intentionally kept on hold. For what reason? I'm sure it will make sense eventually. Especially given that the Academy side manga recently did something similar with Kiku.
The Straw Hats here say their farewells to Miyagi, Tristan, and Carrot. And many a garchu was shared.
Zoro meets with Hiyori and Otoko to show respect for Yasuie, then they say their farewells. This gag about not returning Enma is gold.
Sanji's scene is with Osome, the lady he helped during his fight with Queen, and also returned new mouse friend Chuji to, is nice. Osome telling Sanij that the soba he makes motivates her to work hard, and Sanji being totally sweet and respectful about it? Love it, more of this Sanji please.
Franky and his carpenter boss, Minatomo, have a very manly farewell, where not a single tear was shed by anyone.
Now Usopp's scene is very interesting to me. Of all the locals whose story he was involved in, Kin & Kiku would be the two you'd expect him to have one with, due his role in rescuing them during the battle. We know Kin's farewell is next episode though, and Kiku is with the group at the grounds where Oden Castle once stood. That's two opportunities for a proper farewell scene with Kiku to have happened. One interrupted and the other she is absent for.
What Usopp's scene focuses on instead, is choosing fabric for what I imagine will be for making the Straw Hats' Jolly Roger, which Luffy will give to the Kozuki Clan next episode. Which I love. It's a wonderfully simple and effective way to add more to that important exchange of friendship, and manages to keep Kin and Kiku on the mind, even without them being here in person for Usopp's scene, if you know what to look for. The wall scrolls in this scene add some nice extra spice to the idea as well. Flowers and cranes are often associated with Kiku, and fabrics have a tie to Kin'emon, due to his devil fruit being a clothing power. And finally~
Luffy and Tama enjoying bowls of Otsuru's delicious Oshiruko. I love the memories of Act One which are evoked. Luffy and Tama sharing food is so central to Luffy's,(and Ace's,) journey through Wano. Seeing so many familiar sentiments here is perfect.
And we once again have Kiku being absent in a scene where she would effortlessly fit. She is truly Wano's most mysterious flower. Ooh, wonder if Tama had already woven the hat we see Chopper with later? I hope she made hats for everyone.
Truly wonderful effort from Toei with this episode, hats off to 1084. 🎉

I love how Oda invents in-world reasons for his continuity errors, and then commits to the bit like his life depends on it. Minatomo (and his brothers) are still showing up.

Stars in their eyes
Wanted to show glittery-eyed Bepo, full of love for mecha and his captain, but had to show Killer having his moment too, and then both crews fully enjoying themselves at the Flower Capital festivals.
Love how proud Usopp is (and Minatomo—the Wano carpenter), and Franky's jubilation, but mostly just wanted to show Bepo.
The colourings are by Ice D. Cream on Read One Piece Manga.

You know what? For the longest time I thought that when we first saw buggy in the grand line it was his twin brother*. But now that I know it’s not I will apply this logic to other characters for various meaningless reasons.
Spandam-died from that back snap his twin brother just happens to work for cp0
Foxy-movie foxy was actually his step brother “golden” foxy who always tried to one up his brother due to being their parents less favorite child he ate the “whoa whoa” fruit which makes things more calm and less speedy.
Minatomo-ok this one is actually canon they’re eighth cousins twice removed
*I think because he was wearing green instead of blue and red.

More in-depth posts for 1084 are on the way, though I want to give a moment in the spotlight to several smaller scenes I enjoyed first. It may be filler but though that doesn't hold it back from being a lovely episode in the least.
This family enjoying a liberated Wano are sweet.
Love time being dedicated to Chopper's bond with Miyagi and Tristan. The trio made a wonderful medical team in their time together.
Franky and his tough grizzled temporary boss with a heart of gold, Minatomo, always have an amazing dynamic with each other.
These wall scrolls in the scenes of Usopp seeking to buy cloth are super pretty. Nice foreshadowing for a surprise next episode. Love it. Chopper's gift to Bepo is fun too. I see you Toei.
Fantastic Nami expression here. Boys will be boys.
I adore Franky's "Iron Samurai" tank top. Does the Steel Samurai have a new rival? (Hi Ace Attorney fans.) Jinbei with a shawl with a similar pattern to Okiku's is fun as well.
Only minor interaction like these I would have liked to see would have been a scene between Luffy and Hyogoro, though I'm not going to split hairs over it.
The smaller interactions in 1084, as well as the bigger ones, are such an appreciated effort from Toei.

I hate this so much because if you don’t remember because if you don’t remember the Volume 7 SBS which why would you it was 85 goddman volumes ago Oda created carpenter Minatomo to fix a fucking plot hole
Like a reader pointed out that Higuma kicked down the door when he entered the bar but when he left the door was ~magically~ fixed and Oda was like “no this carpenter Minatomo was walking by and he can’t walk by a broken door without fixing it and that’s what happened. There was no mistake.”
And now 85 goddamn volumes later he’s made that plot hole fix SBS character into a fucking minor plot point I hate this man I hate this series
