Farewells Said. (And Farewells Not Said)
1084 is very clever with the characters it includes together in scenes, easily worth a post.
Luffy, Nami, Chopper, and Brook & our Kozuki friendos, sans Kin, Momo, and Hiyori, begin what appears to be a concluding scene, though what I love is that it never fully concludes because of Carrot interrupting. That's a trick Wano plays all the time. Giving characters scenes or having them being involved in ways that affect or say something about others. We'll see it all through out this episode.
Hiyori and Toko will have a scene with Zoro later in this episode, and Kin and Momo will have theirs in 1085. Though that interaction for every other Kozuki friend remains intentionally kept on hold. For what reason? I'm sure it will make sense eventually. Especially given that the Academy side manga recently did something similar with Kiku.
The Straw Hats here say their farewells to Miyagi, Tristan, and Carrot. And many a garchu was shared.
Zoro meets with Hiyori and Otoko to show respect for Yasuie, then they say their farewells. This gag about not returning Enma is gold.
Sanji's scene is with Osome, the lady he helped during his fight with Queen, and also returned new mouse friend Chuji to, is nice. Osome telling Sanij that the soba he makes motivates her to work hard, and Sanji being totally sweet and respectful about it? Love it, more of this Sanji please.
Franky and his carpenter boss, Minatomo, have a very manly farewell, where not a single tear was shed by anyone.
Now Usopp's scene is very interesting to me. Of all the locals whose story he was involved in, Kin & Kiku would be the two you'd expect him to have one with, due his role in rescuing them during the battle. We know Kin's farewell is next episode though, and Kiku is with the group at the grounds where Oden Castle once stood. That's two opportunities for a proper farewell scene with Kiku to have happened. One interrupted and the other she is absent for.
What Usopp's scene focuses on instead, is choosing fabric for what I imagine will be for making the Straw Hats' Jolly Roger, which Luffy will give to the Kozuki Clan next episode. Which I love. It's a wonderfully simple and effective way to add more to that important exchange of friendship, and manages to keep Kin and Kiku on the mind, even without them being here in person for Usopp's scene, if you know what to look for. The wall scrolls in this scene add some nice extra spice to the idea as well. Flowers and cranes are often associated with Kiku, and fabrics have a tie to Kin'emon, due to his devil fruit being a clothing power. And finally~
Luffy and Tama enjoying bowls of Otsuru's delicious Oshiruko. I love the memories of Act One which are evoked. Luffy and Tama sharing food is so central to Luffy's,(and Ace's,) journey through Wano. Seeing so many familiar sentiments here is perfect.
And we once again have Kiku being absent in a scene where she would effortlessly fit. She is truly Wano's most mysterious flower. Ooh, wonder if Tama had already woven the hat we see Chopper with later? I hope she made hats for everyone.
Truly wonderful effort from Toei with this episode, hats off to 1084. 🎉

Stars in their eyes
Wanted to show glittery-eyed Bepo, full of love for mecha and his captain, but had to show Killer having his moment too, and then both crews fully enjoying themselves at the Flower Capital festivals.
Love how proud Usopp is (and Minatomo—the Wano carpenter), and Franky's jubilation, but mostly just wanted to show Bepo.

One Piece Birthdays: Honorable Mentions
One Piece has hundreds of characters, and over the past year I’ve celebrated the birthdays of only about a few hundred or so of them. So I’d like to take the time to mention every One Piece character without a birthday. Some don’t have birthdays because they’ve debuted too recently, some have no birthdays because they have been forgotten. Some have no birthdays because we haven’t gotten to that yet, even though they’ve existed for a long time and we remember them. To start off with, I will mention every character that exists within the canon that have names. Some you’ll remember. Some you won’t recognize, but if I showed you a picture of them you’d be like “Oh yeah that guy”. And then some of them you won’t have any recollection of, and I can’t blame you for it. I did this so that you can simply search their names on the One Piece Wiki and learn about them, if any interest you. However, a couple of them are so obscure that they don’t even have their own pages, in which case you will only be able to fine them here.
Next we will honor all non-canon characters. These characters appeared in filler, movies, specials, OVAs, one-shots, video games, or any other material that was officially made but not part of the manga. These characters are gaurunteed to never get a birthday, and that is a curse they bear. Now some non-canon characters, such as Gion and Tokikake, debut in non-canon and then later appear in canon, making them canon characters, and thus giving them a chance to have a birthday. However, this is such a rare case, that I wouldn’t count on it, especially for non-canon characters that debuted years ago.

Lastly, I want to honor all characters, canon and non-canon, with no names. The majority of these characters are just extras that only appeared in one panel or shot. But there’s a couple that are actually memorable, such as that one guy that was in Spandine’s group, or the masked CP-0 members. Some of these people can actually get names eventually. For example, Don Quixote Mjosgard was a nameless character for the longest time, until in the Reverie he became important and was given a name. I cannot list these nameless characters, as they have no names, but I do still want to honor them, and hope that one day they will be given names and have birthdays.

Menarik! Apakah Guru Zoro Punya Hubungan dengan Yasu?!
LocalGame – Semakin lama, semakin terkuak kalau guru Zoro sepertinya memang punya hubungan dengan negeri Wano.
Sejak awal, Koushirou memang aneh. Dia memiliki nama dan penampilan khas Wano, tapi dia tinggal di East Blue.
Fudo, kontributor Duniaku.net, bahkan pernah mencetuskan kemungkinan menarik soal sosok seperti Minatomo si tukang kayu dan Koushirou berasal dari Wano.
Jadi, pengungkapan di One Piece 942 ini seperti menguatkan lagi teori tersebut. Guru Zoro punya hubungan dengan Yasu dan negeri Wano!
Pertama-tama, lihat lagi penampilan Koushirou.
Lalu, lihat baik-baik halaman awal dari One Piece 942.
Ada samurai Yasuie yang memiliki simbol mirip dengan Koushirou!
Namun bukan itu saja petunjuk guru Zoro berhubungan dengan Yasuie di bab 942.
Terungkap kalau nama lengkap Yasuie adalah Shimotsuki Yasuie.
Apa signifikansi dari nama ini?
Nama desa Zoro, yang nuansanya Jepang itu, adalah Desa Shimotsuki!
Apa yang terjadi di sini?
Menurut saya, penjelasannya sederhana.
Artikel Fudo sudah terlebih dahulu membahas jawaban Oda di SBS. Jadi beberapa dekade sebelum ini, ada kapal berisi penduduk Wano yang mendarat di East Blue.
Nah, Desa Shimotsuki ini memiliki nama yang sangat Wano di daerah East Blue.
Teori saya begini:
-Dua dekade lalu, sejumlah orang melarikan diri dari Wano setelah Orochi berkuasa dan Kaido menjadi figur berbahaya di Wano.
-Orang-orang ini kemungkinan mendirikan Shimotsuki. Nama ini kemungkinan antara untuk menghormati klan Shimotsuki, atau memang samurai klan Shimotsuki pun termasuk yang harus lari ke East Blue.
Ini menjelaskan kenapa Zoro sampai bisa mengajarkan Momonosuke seruan “Sunach!” yang katanya dari dialek kuno Wano.
Bahkan… mungkin Zoro benar-benar keturunan Wano, namun belum diketahui siapa ayah dan ibunya.
Guru Zoro punya hubungan dengan Yasu ini juga terasa sekali sekarang.
Mungkinkah Koushirou dulu masih remaja saat kapal penduduk Wano lari ke East Blue? Lalu sekarang ia menjadi guru tua bijaksana yang diam-diam sangat tangguh di East Blue?

More in-depth posts for 1084 are on the way, though I want to give a moment in the spotlight to several smaller scenes I enjoyed first. It may be filler but though that doesn't hold it back from being a lovely episode in the least.
This family enjoying a liberated Wano are sweet.
Love time being dedicated to Chopper's bond with Miyagi and Tristan. The trio made a wonderful medical team in their time together.
Franky and his tough grizzled temporary boss with a heart of gold, Minatomo, always have an amazing dynamic with each other.
These wall scrolls in the scenes of Usopp seeking to buy cloth are super pretty. Nice foreshadowing for a surprise next episode. Love it. Chopper's gift to Bepo is fun too. I see you Toei.
Fantastic Nami expression here. Boys will be boys.
I adore Franky's "Iron Samurai" tank top. Does the Steel Samurai have a new rival? (Hi Ace Attorney fans.) Jinbei with a shawl with a similar pattern to Okiku's is fun as well.
Only minor interaction like these I would have liked to see would have been a scene between Luffy and Hyogoro, though I'm not going to split hairs over it.
The smaller interactions in 1084, as well as the bigger ones, are such an appreciated effort from Toei.

I am currently in Origin’s Haven and I have come to the conclusion that at some point, Cullen really did hit the hills until they forgot they were hills.
Because Origin’s Haven’s topography is much more indicative of a mountainside village than Inquisition’s Haven’s topography. (hello, I live in a mountainside village. Yes. One leg is long than the other one still)
I have considered that the explosion in the Temple of Andraste changed some of the topography, but then you have to figure out how the little village and chantry got rebuilt so fast. And then you’re in a One Piece situation Minatomo situation.

Had a drifting thought about the Ringo region and some of its well known residents. Shimotsuki Furiko, Ushimaru’s sister, was presumably born there, Kozaburo likely was too, and Izo and Kiku were. Three of those four left the country and found their place in the outside world.
Makes me wonder if Izo and Kiku had grandparents or great aunts/uncles from Ringo who sailed with Kozaburo’s expedition team of 20 some people. The party left 55 years ago, Izo was born 45 years ago, Kiku 42 years ago. Kiku was sent 20 years into the future so is currently 22 years of age. That would reasonably place the siblings’ parents as having being born roughly 63-70 years ago, meaning they would have been around 8-15 when Kozaburo left the country.
