The way you described the interaction with Karen, the little details of how Billy was gripping the handle of his car ready to run but not knowing how to get out of that situation, gods he really is just a kid!!

"she corrects him in a sickeningly sweet voice, “we’ve spoken about this Billy, call me Karen,”" that was skin crawling frfr

And how Hopper was full on papa bear but trying to keep calm not to startle him :(((

AND "violence is the only language Billy knows especially when it comes to adult men, and Jim will never speak it” THIS PART!!!! THIS IS WHAT GOT ME!!! The first time I read it, Billy’s reaction made me so sad cuz this is so true and seeing Hopper being so level-headed about it cuz "Billy is a fucking kid and he’s a fucking adult” gods it was amazing to read!!!

I love hearing that it resonated with you! I try and use fic to remind everyone that Billy was/is a child who should not have been treated the way he was by adults.

I feel like it’s often brushed over (in canon) and especially with Karen they seemed to be trying to push the narrative of - look how bad billy is trying to get Karen to have an affair - rather than the obvious (or at least it should be) - why the fuck is someone old enough to be his mother preying on and entertaining this behaviour - any non-predatory adult would not be indulging it but worrying about where the behaviour came from (what I make Jim do often in my fics haha) - it just really felt like an injustice that there was no character looking out for Billy so the need to write him being seen/heard/looked after is very strong (a feeling I think many Billy fans have).

Anyway I’ve gone on a mini rant haha thank you again your words really boosted me!

Pacific Rim: i am unfortunately SO annoying about this movie but like. what's not to love. giant robots piloted by people to fight the giant sea monsters? oh and by the way the pilots have an inimitable soul-bond that can be platonic or romantic? and the score FUCKS? amazing. 13/10 this movie changed my brain chemistry when i saw it in theaters at 11

Lilo and Stitch: this was my favorite movie as a kid and just HEARING the soundtrack literally relaxes me. hawaiian rollercoaster ride is like xanax to my brain. this is also why i have a found family problem these days (i cry every time i watch this movie don't look at me)

Undrafted: this is a new addition to the comfort movie collection for two reasons: tyler hoechlin in a baseball uniform and the fact that this movie is shockingly wholesome? idk sometimes it's nice to watch a movie literally about one singular baseball game that you know the outcome of. tickles my brain

Top Gun: MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME. ARGUABLY THE BEST 80s MOVIE. i want the top gun theme to be what i walk down the aisle to. the acting is horrible in this movie. the plot questionable. but i can name every pilot and rio in this film by call sign and name. take my breath away by berlin evokes an emotion in me i cannot describe. i still cry when goose dies. tearing up thinking about "he loved flying with you mav." when i die put this movie on my grave.

The Lost Boys: watched this movie for the first time with my mom when i was 16 at 3 am because we both have insomnia. my second contender for best 80s movie of all time because it really has everything you could want in a vampire movie. my mom got a husky and named it nanook because of this movie. it is so nostalgic and literally perfect in every way

Captain America: The Winter Soldier: i can quote the entirety of this movie. i had a bucky barnes phase and a steve rogers phase that haven't ended because of this movie. three words: the stealth suit. fr tho this is the best marvel movie and the only argument i'll take is thor: ragnarok. my brother and i watch this movie together sometimes still when we're having a bad day

Miracle: LISTEN i love hockey so fucking much it should surprise nobody that this is a comfort movie for me. i know the US beats the USSR in 1980 and i knew it before i watched this movie the first time and i STILL cried about it. so good. probably propaganda and i don't care it's perfect

Julie and Julia: I luv the food, the early 2000′s fits, and the lighting of this movie; it all gives me really good vibes. It’s the kind of movie i put on in the background while doing other stuff.

Bridget Jones’ Diary: I’ve watched this one so many times, i think its because bridget’s kind of a cringefail and that’s really comforting to me.

The Nanny Diaries: Another one for the early 2000′s outfits, plus the way the main character has no real clue what she’s doing with her life is super comforting for me (since i’m in the same boat)

Constantine (2005): The lighting in this movie is everything!! I think so many of my character designs are based on keanu’s constantine

Captain America: the First Avenger: there’s something about early marvel movies, before they fell into cgi and quips. plus i luv chris evans, hayley atwell, and sebastian stan

Porco Rosso: This is the ghibli film that makes me wish i lived in a ghibli film. The way flying is romanticized, the music... it’s probably the most beautiful film i’ve ever seen.

Confessions of a Shopaholic: Not me falling back into the rom com genre lmaooo, but i’ve also seen this one so many times. It’s just so carefree and like... not realistic at all. that’s probably why i love it
