During the end of the school year in Japan the teachers all order bentos. I remember how anxious I was the first year about making sure to eat everything and not be rude. I love so many kinds of Japanese food but I was unfamiliar with a lot of the more traditional bento items and I get pretty stressed if I’m trying a bunch of new things at once. This is multiplied if several of those things are gelatinous or slimy. This year it was a lot less nerve-wracking because I was familiar with and even look forward to many of the dishes now. I still made my desk neighbour eat my okra though and she didn’t tease me too much. I’m kind of boring so my favourites are usually tamagoyaki and grilled fish.

did i get myself a copy of this is how you lose the time war bc i wanted to read it again after i returned the audiobook to the library? perhaps.

I definitely have a normal number of highlighters. (This isn’t even all of them. These are just the ones I bring to class. 😅)

i keep forgetting "muhh have i reposted this before?" but honestly we are all entitled to post our art more than once. you worked hard, so you can make sure it gets the attention it deserves. But obviously don't be a fanatic about it! lol

Went through all study design VCCA dot points for Psychology and wrote down the ones I knew (highlighted them in green), the ones I vaguely knew or wasn't confident in (highlighted them orange) and the ones I didn't know (Highlighted them red)

when i was in middle school i started to have a lot of problems with my academics so every time a semester would end i would watch those study youtubers with the nice desks and stationary and pens and would be like "this is it. this is MY semester. i will be like the study youtubers and i will get all As and my parents wont think im stupid anymore." and then two weeks into the next semester i would give up again

Weekend trips, ink brush and highlighter on origami paper, 2023.

The first drawing was from a day trip to Kyoto last fall. I had gone to see an exhibit at Kyoto Seika University and accidentally joined a bus going to an open campus at a different university nearby, but there were no sidewalks so I had to wait for another bus. The exhibit was great though, I got to see some of Ikegami Yoriyuki’s work, I admire them so much~

The Kyoto aquarium was nice if a bit small and I got to see the legendary penguin relationships map. The park nearby also had a few trees that still had red leaves so I got to do some minor fall leaf viewing.

The second picture was from a trip to Tokyo that I did in preparation for my mom to come visit. I know it seems silly to pre-visit a city, but Tokyo alone has roughly the same population as all of Canada, so I was nervous about navigating with my mom who would be totally out of her depth. Like I had never even ridden a train alone before I moved to Japan lol. I spent half of the trip getting lost in the subway tunnels, but it was a lot of fun and I have since gone back to Tokyo several times with confidence.

The highlight of that trip was a Félix Valloton exhibition at the Mitsubishi Ichigokan museum. I’m so sad that the museum will be under construction until after I leave. Even worse that it’s reopening with a Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition 😭

i want to buy new pens and highlighters because i am afraid mine are on their last legs but autism brain has decided against buying new ones because i hate change. my brother in christ you have mildliners from 2018. let them go.
