“Now I just want you to watch.”

El saw what Henry did to everyone in the lab. She didn’t die, but she had to watch it happen.

Max saw Billy die in front of her. She wasn’t the one in danger, but El was. And she watched her abusive stepbrother die in front of her.

Dustin saw Eddie die. He didn’t go back towards the bats. The bats didn’t hurt him. But he watched Eddie die in his arms.

Hopper didn’t die because of his exposure to the chemicals he was mixing. He watched his daughter die in a hospital bed.

Lucas wasn’t being targeted by Vecna. He wasn’t the one floating in the air, his bones weren’t snapping. But Max’s were. And he watched it happen.

Nancy wasn’t the one who died in the Upside Down, alone in Steve Harrington’s pool. That was her best friend, and Nancy had to watch it all go down. Had to see everyone unfold.

Mike didn’t get possessed. Or kidnapped. Or burst into particles. Mike didn’t die. Or almost die. He watched Will screaming like he was being burned alive. He watched his best friend nearly die and he watched as every adult around him was unable to help him. He watched Will bike away from his house before he disappeared. He heard his mom talking to Joyce the next day. He heard Will on the radio. He saw Will’s body in the water. He heard Bob die. He saw El die. He saw Will dead. He watched a man get shot trying to protect him, Will and Jonathan. He watched him die while putting pressure on the wound.

Mike was shot at.

He was told that he was wrong for trusting El. That Will wasn’t alive.

He had to run for his life because his friend’s body was taken by a being from another dimension that sent creatures to kill him and everyone around him.

He was knocked out by Max’s possessed brother.

He was shot at again in the desert, trying to rescue El who was taken by the government.

He’s been bullied his entire life.

And he did almost die.

Mike jumped off a cliff.

Dustin and El had to watch.

#mike wheeler #byler #I definitely could go more in depth with every other character here #and even some that aren’t here #but my point is #is that Mike has been going through it since season one #and that watching something terrible happen to someone you know and care for #is a thing #and having El watch max die was one of the worst things Henry could do to her #but then mikes also been through a lot of stuff that’s just him #jumping off a cliff for starters #being shot at multiple times #running from the government #being knocked out by billy and generally being in his path in season three #El has to save mike in the sauna #and Will screaming that he’s lying in season two #even though it wasn’t Will it was still his voice and his body #mikes been through a lot #but unlike Will and El he doesn’t have people to talk to about it #or anyone who looks at him and notices he isn’t okay #even though he commonly parallels what they think is happening with Will #like jumping off a cliff or ptsd #everyone’s quick to call Mike an asshole rather than asking him if somethings wrong

It was cold, so cold.

He really liked it cold.

The cold had become a staple of life in the Apocalypse, but this was so much worse. The world was cold because Mike was staring off into space, unmoving and Will was the only other person anywhere near him. There was no music, the radios were broken into hundreds of small pieces, and he was alone.

There was no way out of this.

Mike was going to die.

And it would be all his fault.

“Mike, Mike wake up, please.” He shook the boy in front of him, his voice was getting higher, more desperate.

“Mike, please, please wake up. I can’t loose you. I can’t do this on my own.” Tears were falling from his eyes now, memories of Vecna, the mind flayer, and every other horrible monster he’d witnessed flashing behind his eyes.

“Don’t leave me. Please. We need you, I need you.” His voice was cracking, words coming out more jumped and broken.

“MIKE! MIKE! Please, you’re the heart. You’re my heart. I can’t, I can’t live without you.” He was screaming, body shaking, wracked with violent sobs.

“I love you!”

The snot and steady stream of tears grew even stronger as Mike lifted off the ground. And there he was, that one faithful day where their lives where flipped upside down.

The demogogorgan chasing him, none of the phones working. Then standing in the shed, gun cocked, watching as the lock on the door slowly opened.

He was just a scared child again.

But then he remembered something.

He started to hum the first song that came into his head, the song he had used to soothe himself as a child in the upsideown.

“Darling, you got to let me know,“

Mikes eyes rolled back In his head.

“Should I stay, or should I go?”

There was young Mike, and his awkward little hug when Will was in the hospital after his first time in the upsideown.

“If you say that you are mine,“

Confessing that asking Will to be his friend was the best thing he’s ever done.

“I'll be here till the end of time.”

Will felt it, he felt the stab of pain that Vecna was feeling, he knew something was happening. He knew Mike was fighting.

“So you got to let me know, should I stay, or should I go?”

Mike faltered, suspended in mid air.

“Crazy together, you said crazy together.

He fell straight down. Will caught him as best as he could.

His eyes closed and reopened, focusing.

“Together.”

Will clutched Mike to his chest, sobbing into his shoulder. All Mike could do was grab Wills neck and whisper

“it’s ok. I’m here, I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”

There's something to be said about the same people who praised Vecna for being an allegory for mental illness in season 4 volume 1 are the same people who vehemently hate the character who has been self-destructing since season 2 and was ready to kill himself for a friend's baby teeth in season 1.

i just think its incredible how the audience watched el go on a huge character journey about finding out her past and self discovery, heard "you talk of monsters and superheroes but people are not so easily defined", listened to basically everything mike said in s4 and then his monologue, and half of the audience walked away thinking that was an adequate resolution to mlvns arc because of course el's feelings about everything were exactly the same as they were before she went on this journey. of course 'im going to become a superhero again (-from el)' and then her going back to mike as “a superhero” and him only being able to talk about her like that all series was meant to be a good thing. of course this is how good relationships are written

#me when i cant articulate what i mean #this has been on my mind a lot lately bc ive been seeing. Too many mlvns opinions. and literally none of them even think about how el feels #about all of this. like im sorry but i did not sit through however many hours were in st4 just for ppl to think shes in exactly the same #place in terms of her feelings for mike and what she wants from him.#‘mlvn breaking up after the monologue would make no sense and be bad writing’ BRO RELATIONSHIPS ARE NOT JUST ONE PERSON?? their conflict #cannot just be solved in mikes head (bc he was talking to will about it too mind) without every speaking to el about it.#ever*#they cannot comprehend that maybe mike just Speaking At el (while her best friend DIES!!) maybe wasnt a good thing…#like not even mentioning whatever the hell is going on w mike queerler. el is part of this conflict too and it was also about how mike made #Her feel. not just why mike is a loser.#sometimes i wonder if im the insane one but im literally always right its crazy…#anti mileven #mine

s5 better come through with a scene of mike and nancy having some sort of bonding moment. they rarely interact and i think it’d be great for both characters to have a moment where they open up to each other. the wheeler siblings deserve to know that they can find comfort in each other even if their entire family dynamics have been weird throughout their childhood because of their parents relationship. all the other sibling pairs in the show have had some really great emotional moments that have showed their bond, so i want that for mike and nancy! i think it would also help show mike’s growth in emotional maturity, how he’s getting older, and that him and nancy aren’t just that sibling duo where their only interactions is mike being that “annoying younger brother”

#and in s1 doesn’t nancy tell mike something like let’s not hide anything from each other anymore?#if we’re going back to s1 themes then we need a scene that strengthens nancy and mike’s bond #they’ve both been through so much i feel like if they opened up to one another it would help them both in a lot of ways #also it was so cute how mike asked nancy to play dnd in ep4.1 #mike wheeler #nancy wheeler #byler #stranger things

cyberpsychosis could maybe be so cool if it was people being possessed by some sort of rouge ai,or as part of a corporate conspiracy. like as a planned obsolescence thing where certain parts during production are programmed to make people Do That after a certain point so you have to buy the next new 20,000eddies cannon arms to replace the nearly identical previous model or else you might kill everyone you love and die because your cyberwares "outdated". or untraceable viruses infecting competing corporations cyberware using their rival's customer's livelihoods to sabotage their profits. and maybe any one of those things works in such a way that its designed to detect atypical brain chemistry in a host,and thus triggers more frequently with them to tage advantage of and use those people as a scapegoat and a way to further fear monger against them,and you can uncover that this is the case. or something along those lines. and the more cyberware someone has the more likely it is that they could encounter any of these scenarios. but no it is just #crazy people being too #crazy.

the thing with me is, art block is very not normal for me, but i draw these things and then i hate them because they took so long and then i just can't-. I can't draw anymore because I'm convinced it'll look horrible so i hide from it

and then i HAVE to draw something again way sooner then i want to because my mom will assume I'm not using my iPad and take it away from me-

but also I'm out seeing family now and I'm out for a month going to all these different places which obviously means I'll be spending as much time in one room alone as much as physically possible so I'll be drawing way more

whelp. just finished the fall of the house of usher and i can now finally say with absolute certainty that it wasn't his best work

#mike flanagan #the fall of the house of usher #it just-#eh #half of the deaths just straight Missed #which like with my favorite actress (whose character i actually really liked and whose death i was really excited for)#was kind of disappointing #the other deaths were good but the follow through sucked #the only amazing one was the first one and it set my standards unreasonably high apparently #second favorite was the glass just because that was fucking bonkers and i loved it. and that actress was WHOOF in that role #but the story beats were off and the flashbacks were not nearly as well incorporated as his other shows #the character development was mid and honestly it just didn't cement the characters nearly enough for their deaths to be impactful #even in a way where the lack of impact itself could've been significant lol #also the message didn't really come off that well man idk :/#some of the scenes fucked but not enough to save it tbh #like it wasn't bad but his other works certainly delivered much better #just felt like a lot of the things required for a moving story were missing

ok but why was no one going to tell me that Tonhon Chonlatee is actually kinda silly ??

i just finished binge watching it for the first time (needed something soft to deter from ofts and everything else going on lol) and like- does it have it’s cringe moments ? yeah sure, but it also makes it strangely endearing ??

i think it has a lot to do with the friendgroup and how everyone is just trying to help each other out and figure out their feelings.,

everyone is also kinda equally weird which makes it fun to watch too since it makes you forget how absurd it all is bc it’s somehow all normal for it to be happening

i mean look at them! they are a family 😭 (pretend that na and ken are there too)

they were also so enjoyable to watch scheme for basically 10 episodes in a row to try and get Ton to realize how he felt about Chon

idk- all in all, watching intense gay judgement from secret couple Nai and Ai (and eventually Miriam too lmao) toward unknowingly gay and homophobic Ton was simply the highlight of my weekend :]
