Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
I did it. I wrote almost 4k today of chapter 7! It's NOT a light chapter at all. I wrote where my words took me, and it's quite literally a bit depressing actually. But I wrote it. I'm so proud of myself. It's been so long since I could write anything. At all.
Something fun I read today about “Until Dawn” and “House of Ashes”: Jason and Salim are the Mike and Sam of “House of Ashes”
Jason is Mike because they both start off as unlikable people (Jason is a xenophobic bigot, Mike is a colossal douchebag) but grow and become more honorable as the game continues.
Salim is Sam because they both don’t get that much character development BUT are already likable because they start off as level-headed and rational.
Jason and Salim don’t get along at first, just like Mike and Sam, but come to rely on each other as the game progresses. Also, just like Mike and Sam, Jason and Salim are the only two characters that have enough plot armor to make it to the end.
Dropout is great because while on a traditional network nowadays you would have one knockout concept and be done with it never revisiting it again dropouts like “okay we love doing that now let’s do it AGAIN and AGAIN and make it BETTER and more COOL and more ENJOYABLE and let’s keep doing it until our hearts tell us to stop and we love doing it so that might be never so long as we’re passionate about it” and that’s so fucking cool, in an era of commodified creativity the enthusiastic passion for the arts that drives dropout is not only refreshing but heartwarming and cathartic as a fellow creative who would love to have the chance to do what I love to do like that.
The meanest thing Sam ever did wasn't trapping people, or psychologically tormenting people, or continuously tricking people for the purpose of entertainment. No, the meanest thing he ever did was tear up Mike's, Ify's, and Siobhan's hand drawn pictures of ducks.
