Shooting through doors and windows

Here are some shots where I just pushed up my macro lens against openings in a build just 4 studs wide: the forge, the door, and a window.

Having a capable lens solves lots of problems and opens possibilities up.

That's why you should look at your photography gear as creative tools, not as luxuries.

And do not make having a phone your crutch. You can do a lot with a phone too.

nobody talks about how blacksmiths slowly lost their privileged niche in society over the centuries. I mean they used to forge swords, spears, crowns, armour, to be worn and used by kings and warriors... and now in the modern world most of their job is to make keys and horseshoes. I'm not saying it's a bad job or anything but damn do you think a blacksmith ever looks at the window and goes "man we used to be so fucking awesome back then"

Yang: (trots over to where Ember is waiting patiently and adjusts her chest piece) Ready to go, big guy?

Princess!Blake: And what do you think you're doing?

Yang: I'm gonna joust.

Blake: No, you are most definitely not.

Yang: Yes, I most definitely am. I've been doing this for years, Blake. I can handle a new challenger.

Blake: Not when it's a knight that's been trying for my hand for over five years, Yang!

Yang: (pauses) ......Say again?

Blake: (looks to the side) Your opponent is Adam Taurus. He's one of the newly anointed knights in Sienna's platoon. Sienna finally ran out of excuses to not promote him. He's...very adamant about marrying me...to the point where suitors have gone missing as soon as he gets wind.

Yang: (holds Blake's hands) Blake, I'll be fine. I promise. (kisses Blake's fingers before mounting Ember) And when I get back, I have a surprise for you! (trots towards the jousting arena)

The blacksmith

This is one of my favorite photos I ever made. It was quite an effort with smoke, practical lights, flashes, and flags around this tiny MOC.

I love how it all came together with the smoke wafting over the "fire." There's an LED inside, under the flame parts, causing that orange glow most visible towards the left.
