Master post (& fics I’m planning to write)
Ladies and Gentlemen: My take on Adrien having his own antagonist like Marinette has Lila and Chloe. A new transfer students makes an enemy of the entire class, but Adrien seems to be his main target.
Part 1 Part 2 Headcannons
Status: Completed (maybe)
Let Her Eat Cake: A one shot in which Lila is exposed as Hawkmoth’s ally, which opens up questions about Francois DuPont. In other words, Bustier is accused of being Mayura.
Read Here
Status: Completed
Lila’s Reflection: A one shot in which Lila has a twin sister who she feels inferior against. Includes Lilanette, Male Marinette, and Lila angst.
Read Here
Status: Completed
Marion Dupain-Cheng: Ice Cold: So we know the umbrella scene where Adrien basically pulls his “sad boy” card to make Marinette feel bad for him? Realistically, she shouldn’t have fallen in love with him just like that. I think she should have been wary of him because of his association with Chloe or outright hate him after he scolded her for being happy that Chloe was leaving. Or in ’Bubbler’ when all he cared about was having a party and not that adults we’re literally being launched into the sky. Or in ‘Despair Bear’ after a day of forced niceties he laughed when Chloe insulted Mylene’s macaroons. Long story short, Marinette shouldn’t have tolerated Adrien for as long as she did much less have a crush on him. If she did, it should’ve been obliterated by now. (This is a Drabble)

Status: Completed
A Beetle’s Blossom: The members of the Justice League have seen many things. The deaths and resurrection of some of their comrades, alien doomsdays, off planet missions, and the literal destruction of the world. But the boy who *strongly* resembles Bruce in more ways than just his appearance has them stumped, especially Bruce himself.

Status: On going
Fics That Are Coming Soon
The Most Hated Girl in Paris: An AU where instead of getting off Scott free, Chloe is legally punished for the Train Incident and has to deal with the fact that’s she’s Paris’ most hated girl. She must decide if she wants to continue living this way or if she’s going to claw her way to redemption. Long term project.
Tumblr Concept
Status: Not started
Not So Miraculous After all: Tired of citizens justifying their reckless behavior with the Miraculous Cure, Ladybug stops using it, making sure that consequences get left behind.
Status: Not Started
The Fall of A Queen (C. Bourgeois): An Au where Andre isn’t re-elected as Mayor. This changes everything. Long term project.
Status: Not Started
Cuisine Paradise: Seeing as both their parents work in the food industry, Alya and Marinette decide to start a YouTube channel together to share their recipes; Marinette’s pastries and Alya’s dinner recipes. It all in good fun and they accidentally become famous. Long term project.
Status: Not Started
New Boy In Town (Remy Gasteau): The son of the Prime Minister transfers to Francois DuPont and takes an interest in Marinette. Extremely long term project.
Based on an ask I submitted to @mcheang
Status: Not Started
Civil War (Paris Edition): No matter how hard Lila tries, the class refuses to turn against Marinette, believing that Lila was just confused and there was a misunderstanding. In an attempt to get the girls to help her with Adrien, she insists that Marinette would go great with Luka. It was a brilliant plan— until war breaks out over the class. Lukanette vs Adrienette. Short term project.
Status: Not Started
Round the World Trip: After winning a series of contests, essay challenges, and competitions, Marion unintentionally earned his class a fully paid global trip over summer vacation. Includes Male Marinette and shenanigans. Mid-length project.
Status: Not Started
Damian’s Secret Brother: After ruining any chance at a brotherly relationship with Tim after his murder attempts, Damian Wayne is determined to prove that he wasn’t just a brutish assassin. The discovery of his newest biological brother provided him with the opportunity to show everyone that he could be civil with new family members. But he didn’t think he would get attached to the friendly baker’s boy who had ambitions to be a fashion designer. Male Marinette and bio-dad Bruce Wayne. Mid-length project.

Love square in Chat Blanc timeline
All the summaries are written by the authors.
Pre-Chat Blanc dates by @mcheang
Summary: I worry we may never get to see Adrienette actually dating. I mean, I know they're endgame, but will we see them go on dates after that?
beginning of the end by passionfruitmacarons
Summary: When Adrien finds out who Ladybug is beneath the mask, he's ecstatic. What had originally started out as friendship between him and Marinette blossoms into something special. Meanwhile, it's up to Chat Noir to keep certain truths from coming to light. But once the cat's out of the bag, it's only a matter of time before everyone knows.
Chat Blanc, as seen from the perspective of Adrien Agreste.
Letters from a possible future by @katiechat
Summary: Letters Adrien wrote Marinette in the alternate timeline.
Confessions by @ariadsishereagain
Summary: I’ve always wondered how Ladybug announced her relationship with that boy to Cat Noir in Cat Blanc and how he would have reacted so have this little whatever it is that maybe kinda answers that question.
Break-up - Adrien's POV by @mcheang
Summary: I loved watching Chat Blanc, and the break up was one of the most poignant scenes, so I decided to write it from Adrien's pov, for both the French and English dub. I originally posted this on my Tumblr, but decided to post it here too.
Double-checking by @mcheang
Summary: Adrien wants more proof that his theory is correct. The first was Ladybug delivering Marinette’s gift. The second was Plagg’s reaction. The official third proof will be Ladybug’s suddenly taken status.
What She Doesn't Know (won't hurt her) by modernscorp
Summary: Ladybug really expected Chat, her partner who as far as she was aware was completely enamoured with her, to react a little more strongly at the news of her now having a boyfriend.
Little does she know that he already knows exactly why she was late to patrol today.
Just because I know her secret identity doesn't mean she has to know about mine.

Note
Maybe it’s just seeing Tikki having a strand of Marinette’s hair, but I can’t help wondering if Tikki has a shrine to Marinette in Chloe’s bedroom.
lol, while that is not where that is going, now I can’t help picturing it and also picturing Chloe or worse, Chloe’s hotel staff stumbling across it XD

@mcheang said   :    First off, I wouldn’t say Jiheng was abandoned by the demon clan so much as she abandoned them when she left them to pick up the pieces of the botched wedding. She knew she would be exiled and chose to run away anyway. Second, it was never really stated that Dong Hua would stop visiting her after he was married. He would still have to check on the poisoned daughter of his trusted general and make sure she survived.
The admins always think of a few quotes to go in each essay as textual evidence, and admittedly with these next few quotes the previous essay would’ve likely been more complete - we just don’t want to overload our audience with paragraphs and paragraphs of text. So, let’s consider this the Ji Heng Essay, Pt. 2, feat. some Interesting Narrative Foils / Parallels, because I think we don’t actively recognize how similar Ji Heng can be to our leads, and I think sometimes we have to directly look at that and to look within ourselves to figure out why we let our favorite characters off, but we go hard on Ji Heng forever. You’ll have to bear with me - this carries a lot of extra analysis of the text per point addressed, but I believe a somewhat more thorough exploration is required.
TW SUICIDE MENTION, TW DUB CON MENTION, TW GASLIGHTING, for mention of certain canon events, proceed with caution
TO THE FIRST POINT, we have to address, in further detail, what happened after Ji Heng ran away from the wedding. When Xiao Yan tells Feng Jiu about the story Ji Heng told him of what’s happened since they went their separate ways, he does say that she stayed away from the demon clan of her own accord:
Feng Jiu massaged her shoulder, and looked a touch confused: "What does that have to do with Princess JI Heng?"
Xiao Yan was even more confused. "Did I never tell you, that when Ji Heng ran away with that little guard Minsu, they eloped to Fanyin Valley?" He scratched his scalp, the face as beautiful as autumn flowers under the moon touched with a tint of red: "Actually, I only found out half a year ago. All this time, Ji Heng's true love Minsu was a girl who was dressed as a man, and she liked her brother. After she figured that out, Ji Heng couldn't deal with the shock and fought with Minsu, and they separated, but she felt that she was too embarrassed to return to the demon clan, and so she stayed in Fanyin Valley to be the court musician."
However - later, at the end of the book when Chonglin goes to ask the Red Demon Clan about Ji Heng and where she is, he gets this answer:
When Chonglin went to meet with the Red Demon Clan, Lord Xuyang said that after the incident three hundred years ago when his sister ran away with Minsu, the Red Demon Clan had already banished her, and Ji Heng had no contact with the Red Demon Clan since then. Their clan could not tell where she was now.
If anything, then, I think it would be considered a mutual abandonment. For, drastically different reasons, I might add. Ji Heng’s reasons for staying away from home appear to be pride - that she ran away with someone who ended up not being in love with her, who ended up to be lying to her this whole time. That she’s become “pitiful,” because she didn’t follow through on the marriage her brother arranged for her even if she didn’t want it, and now she’s unhappy. Put yourself in her shoes for a minute - and because Admin Ro is both Asian the queen of analogies, imagine that you’ve decided against everyone’s wishes in your family that you were going to be an actor. They all told you you’re going to starve, and, what do you know, they were right. You are in fact out of work and poor. Would you go home, to a chorus of I-told-you-so? To a chorus of people more pleased that they’re right about you than they are willing to support your dream and what you want to do with your life?
Along that vein, her brother’s motivations for banishing her are likely more political. He arranged Ji Heng’s marriage to Donghua because he wanted the political ties to Heavenly Realm. And, in the aftermath of the elopement, in all likelihood he’s trying to disown Ji Heng as fast as possible to avoid it being a reflection on him / his clan, so they don’t get into trouble with either Donghua Dijun (who, by all means should’ve been humiliated by this turn of events) or Jiu Chong Heaven. He does not support his sister’s decision, and in fact, does not want to even be seen supporting his sister’s decision.
Now, food for thought, okay - take a moment and compare that to Feng Jiu, who’s had a very similar narrative. When Feng Jiu goes after someone she loves, going so far as to become a maid, pretend to be a fox, and, basically lose all face for Qingqiu, and he turns out not to have loved her and he turns out to hurt her, what happens? She goes home, to friends and family that do love her. That do support her and have shown support for her, all this time. She has a family who’s waiting for her to go home, who’ll be shields for her, as Zhe Yan says, who she trusts because they’ve always been there for her, over political obligation sometimes. The Bai Family “help their family, not the one that’s in the right.” And let’s take a look at what happens when Feng Jiu runs away from a wedding okay - she blows Cang Yi’s whole palace apart, and yes, she gets punished for this but it’s no more drastic than, likely, being locked in the cave or being spanked. Her family doesn’t disown her because she lost face or because she made a political blunder.
The fact that fandom in general holds these two women to very different standards in this very similar event despite them both being just women who’re trying to run away from a political marriage they don’t want - is concerning. But that fact notwithstanding - from just these two different environments, it’s not hard to see why, in the face of certain decisions, Ji Heng and Feng Jiu make different choices. Now, as a person, I firmly believe no matter what your situation is you make your own choices. So, it’s still on them, as to what choices they make when faced with yet again, a similar situation: not being loved by the person they love. But, with any amount of compassion, you can see, very clearly, why it’s more likely and easier for Ji Heng to make the bad choice. She hasn’t had a particularly large amount of strong relationships in her past, familial or otherwise, that shows her what a good, healthy, strong relationship is like. There is no reference point.
One might argue that Donghua’s just the same, since he has had no real parents and he isn’t close to his foster family. Well, that’s just it - out of this void, where his close relationships are supposed to be, Donghua doesn’t do any better either. In fact, he screws up just as much. Now, I can’t weigh “threatening to kill yourself unless your crush divorces his wife” and “lying to your crush and changing their memories so that they forget everything bad you’ve ever done and sleeping with her using a whole different identity” against each other on a scale of, which is worse. Because they’re both bad, and it’s both toxic in a relationship - but, it seems as though the fandom in general judges them differently as well.
With Donghua, we seem to be more capable of admitting that the things he does are mistakes. We seem to be more capable of saying “it’s because he doesn’t know what he’s doing, it’s because he hasn’t had any experience, it’s because of xyz.” We seem to be capable of understanding that his flaws are flaws, but that Donghua is not a fundamentally evil character and these flaws don’t fundamentally define who he is. We seem to be capable of liking him and forgiving him for his flaws overall. Whereas, with Ji Heng, the general trend I and Admin Lins have seen is to dislike her, even though these two characters screw up the same amount, and, I mean, for similar reasons and to a similar scale.
And while I’m not saying people can’t dislike the characters they dislike - I think we have to to evaluate ourselves and ask ourselves the question - why is it that we are capable of forgiving Donghua for what he does, but we aren’t capable of forgiving Ji Heng? Why is it that we would rather assume that Donghua is a good person and that he isn’t making these decisions because he is bad, but we aren’t capable of the same assumptions for Ji Heng?
One of Donghua’s major flaws is carelessness - and that lead us TO THE SECOND POINT. When Donghua leaves the valley with Feng Jiu, Ji Heng catches up and asks to be taken with them. His response implies that Ji Heng’s condition was not really a concern to him at that moment:
A flash of surprise entered Ji Heng's eyes, but her gaze was full of hope as it directed toward Dijun. Donghua said coolly: "Living in Fanyin Valley will control the Quishui poison. If you live here for three thousand years, the poison will fade away by itself."
And also gives a response that leaves even Feng Jiu saying he’s cold:
Donghua suddenly said: "Your father asked me to take care of you before he feathered...but, I have never liked to care for someone who has designs on me."
Ji Heng's face was suddenly pale, and after a long while, she said sadly: "Yes, I understand."
At the edge of the lake, Feng Jiu stared at the surface of it. Dijun wet a handkerchief and gave it to her. Feng Jiu took it and pressed it to her face for a while, and waited for the cold to sink into her skin, and finally woke up entirely to say: "Thank goodness when I was maid at your palace, you didn't have the chance to know me. If you met me then, you would've said to me what you said to Ji Heng today, right?" And said, tentatively, "You were a little cold, when you said that."
Now, I can’t tell you for sure whether or not Donghua meant exactly to make good on it - but the implications are all there. Telling her the poison is no longer a concern and she should just stay in the Valley while he presumably leaves,  and when he talks about her father, doesn’t that sound like a threat? It certainly probably would have, to Ji Heng: “I know you like me, now stop, or I’ll never come back.” That’s what that sounds like. Now, both admins on this blog have anxiety, and, if you look at Ji Heng and how she was literally ready to kill herself at the end of the book, it’s not hard to conjecture that she probably has some mental illness. Piecing that together with what we previously discussed, it’s not hard to infer that she likely has some anxiety surrounding abandonment.
In her mind, that might very well translate to a straightforward, he’s leaving and never coming back. One might say “why doesn’t she just stop liking him then” but that’s an unreasonable thing to expect...honestly, no one can just turn their emotions off like that, we know this, right? We can’t expect that of a person, so we can’t expect that of a character or that character would no longer be authentically human. Furthermore, if you look at the actions Donghua took in the Valley before he and Feng Jiu ever got together, I think you can see where Ji Heng’s mind might take that even more drastically. The second Feng Jiu showed up in the Valley and this coincided with Donghua’s visit, what does Donghua do? He makes her cook for him, he goes to live with her, he straight up puts up a ward to block them both from the rest of the world. He basically declares to the whole world that, “the only thing I care about here is Feng Jiu.”
Bear in mind, he visits Ji Heng every ten years and is the only thing close to a friend she has in the Valley before Xiao Yan shows up. Ji Heng has been cooking for and living with Donghua every ten year interval he has shown up. To be suddenly and quite completely shut out and removed by this person she thought was her friend, that she had feelings for, even if they were only on her part as far as she knew, is hurtful. It’s like Donghua is saying “I like Feng Jiu, and so I don’t care about you or what you do anymore.”
Now, that’s not Feng Jiu’s fault, and it’s not Donghua’s fault. He’s free to do that, of course, and people change and they outgrow each other and they leave. But - to a person who’s been left by a lot of people, doesn’t it make sense for Ji Heng to react drastically? Doesn’t it make sense for her to see that Donghua is getting married to Feng Jiu and further extrapolate from his previous actions that he’s unlikely to visit again? Think of it if it happened to you - if your best / only friend, one that you care about a lot and are extremely invested in, left you because they found a new friend, can you truly say that you wouldn’t harbor a single bitter thought for that new friend? Can you say in those circumstances, every time, you would make the right choice?
IN CONCLUSION, all this, and the previous essay, is not to say that what Ji Heng does throughout the narrative isn’t bad. It is bad, and it is messy, and it does hurt people. These are explanations and not excuses for her behavior. I and Admin Lins will both agree that of the two of us, I am definitely the harder one on Ji Heng. I get my little bursts of rage when I get to certain areas in the novel that, yes, I can’t soothe over even knowing everything that I know. However, I do think - that a part of evaluating reads and the flaws of each character is trying to understand them. I think I have enough faith in Tang Qi that I believe she wouldn’t put a flat antagonist character in a novel to be “evil” for evil’s sake - and therefore, when I go through my read and I see the hints of dimension, I can say, I see it and it’s there.
In the end, sure, it’s about what everyone wants to believe. You can see that evidence and interpret it however you want. That’s how art and subjectivity and reads work - no one read is completely right.  No one read is completely objective. If someone looked at all of this and thought “nah, bull, Ji Heng did all of it because she’s just an awful person,” I guess there’s nothing to stop them. But in literature,  where every character is a reflection of a living, breathing, relatable person, the admins on this blog are more inclined toward a middle read. That not everyone is completely good and that not everyone is completely bad. That people make bad decisions because of their pasts, because of their circumstances, because of their mental illnesses, but that it does not make them, over all, a bad person forever.
I think if I can extend my compassion to Donghua and Feng Jiu, who have screwed up all over the place throughout this novel, and say, “I understand why you did this, you’re stupid, but I love you anyway” then I can extend that very same compassion to Ji Heng. And I think, if I can say “It’s ok, give them time, they can do better” about the main characters, then Ji Heng also deserves that very same hope. People are flawed. People make mistakes. People can regret it and get better.

Thank you so much for writing the Eternal Love of Dream recaps. I don’t suppose you know the show times? Do you know where I can fics for this drama series on Tumblr?
Hello there! I’m glad that these recaps are helpful to anyone!  I am not sure about the show times, I just watch it on youtube, the Tencent channel releases them on Mondays I believe, but since my computer broke meanwhile, I lost track a little bit.
As for fanfics, I really wouldn’t know because I am not really a fanfic reader and I don’t like that couple very much. Though I would love some fanfics with Fengjiu and the general guy in the mortal realm! Sorry that I cannot help about that!

Adrien Salt Prompt/Fic Recommendations
Ladybug Look-a-like by @sturchling
This doesn't actually have a title
Adrien salt where Adrien tries to date a girl he thinks is Ladybug, but she's already dating someone and honestly doesn't like Adrien since he keeps pulling the poor little rich boy act. Adrien doesn't give up and it gets him in trouble.
Everything You Deserve [Major Adrien Salt Ahead] by @aliensunflower-fics
“Why would she recognize you dude? Its not like your famous or anything.”
And that hurt somehow. He didnt know why the idea of Marinette’s room being empty of all his photos bothered him but it did. He missed Marinette he wanted her to rejoin there class to help makes things ‘correct’ but Marinette didn’t stop to speak or even look at him, and when he looked her up later he learned she was perfectly happy maybe even happier then she was, she was working hard toward her dreams of being a Fashion Designer, she had many new friends including some old friendly faces like Kagami, Alya, Luka and others.
Ladies and Gentleman: Him by @stormiclown
Ladies and Gentlemen: Stephan Vladislav
”No, you listen to me, Bratdrien,” the Russian model said menacingly, having enough of beating around the bush. “Here’s what will happen. You will stay out of my way and continue being a wet napkin. Something you excel at. Stay away from Marinette. If I catch you trying to guilt trip, gaslight or scapegoat her into catering Lila’s whims, I will expose the liar as well as the fact that you knew and didn’t bother to say anything.”
Chills ran down Adrien’s spine as he finally seemed to register the danger he was in, “Y-you can’t do that. You have no proof!” He wasn’t sure if that was true, but the blonde felt like he had no choice but to say that.
Good luck charm gone by @merry-madness
Adrien was the one who got the classes good luck charm stolen. It was the one thing in his life he regrets and still regrets to this day. Because of that one decision he ruin not only his life but the life of everyone in the class.
All because he made Marinette Dupain-Cheng leave.

She tours alone
Marinette had gone to sleep right after finding a hidden path back to the manor, thank you, Culpa the kitty, and woke up feeling refreshed. Since today they were going to be touring the ballrooms, she elected to wear her ‘composers outfit,’ inspired by Nickolas Lafin, an incredible musician who lived in the manor.
Nickolas was primarily a conductor, but he often composed his own symphonies and gavots as well. Despite his incredible work, Lafin wasn’t much of a prominent character in the manor’s history and instead was reported to mainly follow his girlfriend, Anya, around. After Anya drowned, it was said that Nickolas spent all of his free time in the attic, until eventually, the boxes and trunks fell on top of him and killed him instantly.
Marinette had on a long blue coat with black and white music notes dotted along the bottom. Her shirt was crisp and black, matching her pants perfectly. She also had on a pair of rectangular earrings and red bowtie that matched Nickolas’ favorite.
After a quick breakfast where Marinette checked in on Allegra again, Grace picked them up to check out the ballroom. Adrien sidled up to her with his earnest smile and the two walked hand-in-hand next to Alya and Nino.
“Alya seems a bit shaken, is she okay?”
“She’s okay, just had an allergic reaction to the ice cream she got.”
Marinette looked at Alya again. She was leaning heavily into Nino’s side and was giving wary glares at any cup or water container she saw. She’d have to make sure she didn’t get dehydrated.
“...and here is the grand ballroom!” Grace pushed open the doors with a grin. “It’s a bit dusty since we haven’t exactly been hosting any parties lately, but with a little elbow grease it’ll be spectacular!”
Marinette looked at the dark, dusty room. Thick curtains covered the windows, but it allowed for a small sliver of light to illuminate the flecks dancing from the ceiling to the floor. Even in the faint lighting, she could tell that it was beautiful; all pastels and silvers and golds.
“What a dump.” Lila commented to Alix and Kim beside her. “Prince Ali’s ballroom is much better than this waste.”
“Actually,” Grace’s wide smile sharpened into something vengeful, “even in its current state, the Culpa ballroom is still considered one of the most lavish ballrooms in the world. Prince Ali’s ballroom isn’t even ranking.”
“I- ah well, it must have been remodeled since the last ranking.” Lila floundered, and after she looked at Adrien’s sympathetic face, Marinete almost felt bad for her.
Grace was looking casually at her phone. “Seems that the last ranking happened just a few days ago. That would have been when you were in Paris, correct?”
Almost.
“I guess I must have forgotten which ballroom I was thinking of.” Lila shrugged. “There’s been so many.”
“Yes, I’m sure.” Grace mumbled with shrewd eyes. She perked back up. “Anyway! I was thinking, as your project for your visit, you can produce a replica of the infamous Ross ball. We can have people working with flowers, costumes, music, and guests.”
The class murmured their agreement already turning to their friends and discussing what they wanted to wear.
“Ooh! Can I wear a suit?” Rose bounced on her toes, hand waving.
“Of course! We have dozens of old clothes that could easily be refitted for you and everyone else! We just need a-”
“Designer!” Nino shouted, pointing down at Marinette’s head (tall people, disgusting). “We’ve got one right here!”
“Great!” Grace didn’t seem surprised at all, even though a teenage designer isn’t someone you meet every day. “Your main job will be refitting and redesigning all the costumes for your friends. That sound good?”
“Yeah, sounds great!” Rose’s suit would of course need to be a pink, but a faint floral print on it too would look beautiful. Making it period accurate would be tricky, but the internet had all kinds of references for suits and dresses.
“We’ll need people for all the other tasks I mentioned, but for now just look around the room and check out the closets for anything you may need for the ball.”
The four of them immediately gravitated to the closets at Alya’s behest and Adrien’s adventurous spirit. There were instruments of all kinds and colors; it was like a sculpture and Marinette felt all kinds of inspiration welling up in her.
“Not much in this room.” Alya remarked. “Let’s check the next.”
“I used to really like music.” Adrien said as he followed Nino and Alya out the door. “Still do.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Marinette stayed behind, pulling out her phone to take a few pictures. A rustle from behind the cello caught her eye, and she glanced back at the open door. Another rustle, and she committed to it, stepping forwards to investigate.
“Meow.” Culpa was sitting prim on top of a drum. He was looking at the ground then at her like he just noticed another being was in the room.
“Culpa!” Her hands reached out to rub the cat’s ears, fingers vibrating with the feline’s contented purrs. “Hey, kitty. What’re you doing in here?”
Culpa offered no answer aside from leaning further into her hand and purring louder. She’d take it. After a few minutes more of petting, Culpa batted her hand away and moved towards the very back of the room, tucking into a thin passage she hadn’t noticed in the dark. When he realized there wasn’t a presence behind him, he turned around and mewled for her attention.
“Right, right. Coming.” She slipped her phone in her pocket and slipped into the passageway, which was just wide enough for her to stand comfortably in.
She followed Culpa’s flashing blue eyes through the tunnel until she stepped into a wider, well-lit hallway. Unlike the closet or the ballroom, the hall was absolutely pristine. Both of the walls were decorated with portraits, and Marinette took her time inspecting each one.
It was the Culpa family. Each one through the ages until it ended with the image Culpa showed the most attention to; Felix, eyes cold, unseeing on the canvas. Right next to it was a small framed photograph in black and white; Bridgette and Felix, laughing while leaning against each other.
She lifted the picture and smiled down at it. It was much better than the painting; it showed much more emotion. And that dress! Marinette could totally design a dress like that. It would look beautiful in pink.
“It’s a nice picture, isn’t it?” Allegra was standing in a doorway a bit behind her. She hadn’t noticed her come in.
“Yeah, they both look so… so happy. Why wasn’t this room a part of the tour?”
“We didn’t want people touching this part of the manor’s history.” She shrugged, walking forwards. “It just seemed right to keep it separate from the rest of it all.”
“Yeah, I get it.” This place seemed- sacred, in a way. She followed Allegra out of the hall and watched her lock the door.
“How’d you get in there anyway?”
“Oh, I found this cat and he led me through some passageway in the back of a closet.” She pointed over her shoulder to Culpa who… wasn’t there. “And he’s gone. That’s weird.”
“A passageway, huh? That’s cool.”
“I thought so too. Probably wasn’t the smartest idea to just go through it without telling anyone though, huh?”
“Probably not.” Allegra agreed
They walked a while longer before they were back at the ballroom. Alya and Nino were talking near one of the back doors that lead to the closets and looked up just as she walked in.
“Girl! Where have you been? We’ve been looking all over, come on! Adrien’s playing the piano.” Alya grabbed her and dragged her through the hall of closets. When she passed the one with the instruments, she glanced in, trying to catch a glance of the passage to show Alya.
She didn’t see anything at all.

Funnel Web - Part 7
First     Prev     Next
The next day at school people were taking an interest in her. Giving her looks, whispering about her. She didn’t know why and she honestly didn’t care. She skipped dealing with the schoolyard commotion to sit in class. However she was surprised to see Adrien in the room already. He looked up when she walked in. She looked at the ground and walked to the back of the class. When she sat down he was still looking at her. She sighed and pulled out her notes. After a few moments she heard him get up and leave. She continued going over her notes from the last few days, what little she had anyway.
Slowly her classmates started filing in and sitting in their seats. The last one to come in was Adrien, walking with Mme Bustier. She told him to take his seat and, to everyone’s surprise, he climbed the stairs and went to the back of the classroom where Marinette was. She looked at him, confused. He looked at her and gave her a small smile.
During class there was a handout meant to be worked on with their table partners. Marinette saw that Lila ended up working with Alya and Nino. It was an easy enough worksheet.
“You’ve been really quiet.” Adrien says. He doesn’t look up from his worksheet.
“I wonder why.” Marinette responded dryly. He didn’t respond. They continued to work on their worksheet in silence. For some reason this upset Marinette more than it should have. “You know that she’s lying.” She kept her voice low so that others wouldn’t hear her. “You know that she’s lying and you’re not doing anything.” Her voice was cold, and she saw him wince.
“I’ve been trying.” He said. She gave him a look. “I’ve been looking for a way to point out a flaw in her lies or a way to disprove them but I can’t find one. They have just enough credibility to get by.”
“Is that why you asked to be moved back here?”
“Is it impossible for me to show concern?” She just looked at him again. Her face showed the hurt and betrayal she had felt since Lila had come back. At least she hoped it did. If he had been concerned why didn’t he move back here months ago? “She lies with every breath she takes.” He admitted. “I can’t take any more of it.” At that she let out a small laugh.
“We should work on the assignment.” Marinette said.
As the day went on Adrien managed to open Marinette up more. Some quips here and a snide remark at Lila’s lies there had her smiling. He even managed to get her to laugh a few more times. It was the loudest she had been in a while. She liked it. The next day was much the same.
At the end of the day after that Adrien walked with Marinette to her house. She invited him in.
“Would you like anything to eat?” Marinette offered. “I can grab something from the bakery downstairs.”
“I’m good. Thank you.”
They worked on their homework together. It was a peaceful sort of quiet as they worked. Not like how it used to be with Alya, where they joked and laughed as they slowly did their work. It was nice. Just knowing that someone else was there. Then she heard it. The unmistakable sound of someone who was hungry. She quietly dismissed herself and went downstairs to the bakery, and came back up with a plate of assorted cookies, and continued on with her work. They snacked and worked  together quietly, and eventually, Adrien left.
It became a habit that they’d work together, and Marinette made it a point to grab a snack before they started working, be it croissants, bread and cheese, or cookies depending on their mood. Adrien always thanked her, and thanked her parents before he left.
Her father called him a sweet boy after the door closed and her mother would pat her shoulder. They knew that she had had a crush on him. She hadn’t told them yet that she was way past over it.

So, I read this idea from @mcheang about Marinette playing pranks in LIla but Lila not realizing who it is cause Mari is a "goody two-shoes". Then Lila sets cameras but Mari has Tikki help her and now Lila thinks that she's haunted.
Big oof. But yeah Lila knows Mari doesn't like her but thinks she doesn't seem like the type.

@mcheang asked : What news do we have on DongFeng in Lotus Step besides that she is apparently pregnant?
We don’t actually even really know whether she is pregnant or not in this book, those are just the rumors circling around weibo forums, and in so far as I can tell there’s no definitive sourcing back to what Tang Qi has said about it. And that makes sense to me, since Tang Qi’s usually good about not answering questions one way or another if it’s a spoiler for a future book. Now, I haven’t dug around for said sourcing, but usually if it’s not easily accessible (given weibo forums are usually pretty good about linking back to source material), it’s either incredibly obscure, or from a long time ago, which means, as Lotus Step is being re-written, it’s not necessarily going to be true anymore.
We don’t really know anything about DongFeng in regards to Lotus Step. According to Tang Qi, Lotus Step is going to be the longest book of the series yet, at a projected 700,000 - 800,000 words. It will be split into 2 volumes - one set in the mortal world, detailing what happens to Cheng Yu and Lian Song there, and the other set in the realms. What Tang Qi has written so far, up to the latest chapter in January 2020, has all still been in the mortal world. The timeline is also the grandest of all the books so far, lasting at least 50,000 years if not more, possibly going on in the background of both Peach Blossoms and Pillow Book, and we just don’t know because Tang Qi hadn’t wanted us to focus there during the other two books.
To give you an idea, the current timeline of the book is happening around when Yehua is only 25 years old. My guess is, for those of you who’re waiting on DongFeng content in this book, you’ll be waiting for a loooong time.

UNHEALTHY COPING MECHANISMS (PART 2)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3  | Part 4  | Part 5
Chat Noir grumbled as he vaulted from rooftop to rooftop. Of course the day he chose to begin patrolling again was the day Ladybug decided not to do so.
Cursing his bad luck, he landed to catch his breath. He had been moving non-stop for two hours now with no results. At least it had helped clear his head. Being Chat Noir always did.
He was still irked from the argument he'd had this afternoon with Marinette. He glanced towards the bakery with a shake of his head. He still felt so bad for the way he had snapped at her, but he couldn't deny that it was somewhat deserved. She had been quite crude towards him too. Alya had alreafy lectured him afterwards but had still agreed. Apparently Marinette was acting snippy towards everyone, including Alya. The two girls had already gone through an argument of their own before today.
He was dragged out of his thoughts thanks to the door of the bakery opening, a familiar figure stepping outside. Luka? What was he doing there?
A sudden thought hit him like lightning.
Luka was with Marinette. He probably had spent all evening with her, in her room.
He felt himself bristle, the previously forgotten anger surging through him once again. Maybe Marinette was just fine. She probably didn't need his or anyone's help for that matter. She had her precious loving boyfriend Luka after all.
With a weird sensation gnawing at him he leaped, landing on the rooftop behind her terrace silently and ready to question her. He was going to get to the bottom of this. He needed answers.
"What are you doing here Chat Noir?" A voice asked that sent him jumping in fear with a very manly shriek. He looked down at Marinette, who was sitting in her lounge chair on the balcony instead of inside her room like he had expected.
"You scared me half to death Princess!" He exclaimed chuckling, moving down to balance himself on the balcony's railings.
"Answer my question Chat Noir," she insisted, not even opening her eyes.
Not being acknowledged was something Chat Noir despised, but he tried to keep his boiling rage down and hidden. His alter-ego wasn't supposed to be angry at her since they hadn't argued beforehand.
"What, can't a superhero check on the citizens of his city?" He asked, trying to keep the annoyance out of his voice. "Especially on his favorite royal ones?"
"I'm not in the mood," she responded curtly, making him flinch.
"I can see that," he whispered.
"Sorry for trying to do something nice."
"I'm just... very busy right now Chat," she sighed, shoulders slumping forward.
"Busy?" He frowned. "You don't look that busy to me." He saw the way her eyebrow twitched.
"I was... meditating."
"Meditating? Seriously?" He snorted bitterly. "If you want me gone you just have to say so Princess, don't make up excuses for my sake."
Marinette whisper-hissed something that sounded a lot like 'for fuck's sake' and stood up. Her eyes finally opening.
For the first time since he arrived he noticed how bad she looked. Her eyes were red and puffy, the bags under them etched deep in her skin. Her hair was disheveled and clumsily tied in a ponytail. Her lips looked dry and chapped, and now that he thought about it her voice had been croaky and rough, like she had been...
Crying.
She had been crying.
With a gulp he brought his gaze down to stare at the floor, shame replacing the anger. He had probably intruded at a bad time and had not realized it, instead choosing his own pent up pettiness and throwing it at her face.
"I think you should go." He heard her whisper. His eyes snapped to hers instantly, meeting her gaze. She looked so tired.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean-"
"Chat it's time for you to go."
"But-"
"Go away Chat Noir!" She snapped. "Now!"
He kept their gazes locked for a couple more seconds before he decided to extend his baton and leap away.
He had fucked up so badly. Twice.
He had hurt Marinette so much today he could barely handle it.
As the wind rushed around him he couldn't help but mentally beat himself up for his own pettiness and stupidity. She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve him treating her like this. Not as Chat Noir or as Adrien.
He wanted to go back, apologize for everything and hug her so tightly all her worries and misery would get choked and wither away.
He wanted to hold her, console her and for her to beat him up for being such an idiot. But he couldn't do that now. It was too late.
Why did he always fuck things up? Why was he cursed with such bad luck? He had only wanted answers and instead he had gotten angry over something silly and made her miserable.
With a final turn to watch the bakery as she reentered her room, he went home.
