Making Your Own Luck
Quick story I wrote while thinking of Plagg’s love of cheese, Tikki’s love of cookies, and the different ways we associate with good and bad luck. Sprinkle in a little Lila salt and you’ve got some wonderful brain candy to tide you over until the next story. Warm-Fuzzies and enjoy!!
There were more than a few abilities that kwamiis had that normally weren't used. Kaalki could improve her holder's horseback riding ability. Pollen could help flowers grow when she spent enough time in an area.
Tikki's power over luck and good fortune was very well known. But it wasn't only her lucky charm, but her ability to take away luck. Now, this wouldn't give someone bad luck, that's Plagg's thing and had started the whole black cat crossing your path superstition. It would just set a person's luck to zero, and their actions afterwards would determine if it turned good or bad. This is where the concept of karma and the saying 'making your own luck' came from.
Normally, these were abilities that kwamiis kept to themselves or would become a side effect of being active for an extended period of time. Tikki was able to control that ability easily… until her holder came across that Italian rat, Lila Rossi. Oh, how she wished for the chance to reset that girl's luck and let karma determine her punishment. It would be so easy, just a second of physical contact and all her luck would disappear. Then everything she did would continue to build and grow, not that the little Goddess had to guess which way it would go.
Then, one glorious Tuesday morning, Lila accused Marinette of stealing her orange pen. Tikki had been eating her blueberry and lemon curd macaron while reclining on a silk scarf when the girl snatched the purse she was in. Marinette tried to get it back, horrified when Lila opened the latch and shoved her hand inside.
The purse jostled roughly to one side, causing Tikki's cookie to fall to the floor as the stolen pen slid out of the girl's sleeve and into the purse. What happened next occurred so quickly, that she would always claim, while ignoring Plagg's jokes and side eyes, that it was a complete accident. Tikki grabbed the pen, touching Lila’s fingers as she pushed away and fazed through the bottom of the purse. With all the chaos of Lila keeping the purse out of Marinette’s reach and Mme. Bustier, demanding that everyone calm down, no one noticed the kwamii fly under the desks, drop the pen under Lila’s chair, and return to Marinette to hide in her backpack.
"...but she took my pen, I saw her put it in-"
"If that is the case, you tell me and I will handle it," Bustier said sternly, displeased that her lesson had been interrupted and her pregnancy hormones giving her a shorter fuse. "Give Marinette her purse back, now." She did, barely hiding her smirk. "Marinette, may I please take a look inside your purse?"
Hands shaking from the adrenaline, having a flashback of the last time her bag had been searched, and worried about Tikki being found, Marinette wanted to say no. It was only when she spotted Tikki out of the corner of her eye, head poking out of her backpack and giving a reassuring nod, that she handed over her purse.
A few seconds later, Bustier handed the purse back and cast a disappointing scowl at Lila. "I believe you owe Marinette an apology."
Shock broke through Lila’s façade as she sputtered. "But… but she took my favorite orange pen. I swear I saw-"
"Isn't this it?" Nathaniel asked, causing everyone to turn and see him pick the pen up from under their shared desk.
Sputtering a bit more, Lila clenched her jaw before giving Marinette a terse "sorry" before stomping back to her seat.
Plagg knew exactly what his Sugarcube had done, he'd felt the slight spike of power after the cookie had shattered on the floor and that brat had shoved her hand into Pigtail's purse. The embarrassment of apologizing in front of the class was just the start. He knew the girl wouldn't accept defeat so easily, and the consequences would keep growing.
And he was not disappointed.
Lila tried to trip Marinette in the cafeteria, and ended up stubbing her toe on a table leg hard enough to cry real tears. When she attempted to switch their homework assignments in Mendeleiev's class, the teacher not only spotted the switch but proved it in front of everyone by comparing handwriting. That got Lila a week of detention.
Then, at the end of the day, Lila accidentally dumped her water bottle all over Marinette’s head and backpack. Despite acting oh-so apologetic and reminding everyone about her weak wrist, she wasn't getting the support or assurances of "it's not your fault" that she expected. Many glared at her while others ran off to get towels to help Marinette. Realizing that she miscalculated and did too much on a single day, Lila made a hasty retreat outside. Only to get absolutely soaked when a car sped through a puddle on the street.
Plagg laughed his little whiskers off from that one. But he knew it was just starting. He couldn't wait to hear about what happened away from school.
~oOo~
The following morning, Lila looked like she'd been dropped into Dante's Inferno and spat back out just in time for school. What happened didn't even have anything to do with Marinette, so she couldn't blame it on her. That just annoyed her all the more.
While storming home wet from the puddle, she kicked a pebble that hit a bird, then a flock of birds swarmed her while she ran for two blocks. She shoved a neighbor out of the way when she got to her apartment building, and the door flew back and cracked her in the nose. It bled for over ten minutes.
She went to the mall for some retail therapy, coupled with a five finger discount, and was caught immediately. Her mother was called and she was banned from the mall for life. Greta was not happy with her daughter and gave her extra chores as punishment. While Lila was muttering mean and disrespectful things about her parents while cleaning the bathroom, she didn't account for the volume of her voice or the bathroom tiles echoing what she said. Her grounding was extended.
All this made Lila’s mood particularly volatile when she arrived at school that morning. Not bothering to pay attention to what was around her, she gave Mireille a shove out of the way, making the girl stumble down the stairs. A couple seconds later, Lila slipped on the wet steps and fell all the way to the bottom. Her classmates saw the whole thing, and although they were miffed that she pushed someone, they still helped Lila to the nurse to get checked out. Nothing broken, but there were multiple new bruises to match her black and purple nose.
In class, Marinette had to resist the urge to stare at the hot mess her bully had become in a single day. The rest of the class had noticed too. Nathaniel decided to move up a row to sit with Ivan. Rose and Juleka cast wary glances in her direction whenever Lila started muttering to herself. Even Mme. Bustier had to tell Lila multiple times to stop talking with the threat of detention.
By the time lunch came around, Marinette made sure to be with one other person at all times. With how unhinged Lila was getting, she didn't want to risk being caught alone with her. Luckily, Ivan, Rose, and Juleka wanted to talk with her about the new designs for Kitty Section, so she was covered.
Lila noticed how the class was starting to avoid her. Fighting off the urge to curse and scream at them, she took a few deep breaths to clear her mind. She'd been rushing too much for the last two days, she knew that. Trying to compensate for her failure was only bringing more attention to herself and the sheep were noticing that something wasn't right. She had to slow down and make them come to her.
For the next few days, Lila backed down. She smiled at her followers, paid attention in class, and would occasionally look at her phone in distress and act like she was fighting off tears. By Monday morning, things were going better for her. She'd avoided getting in any more trouble with her mom and teachers, she'd texted a fake apology to her classmates, and admitted that she was going through something that was causing a lot of stress. When some of them asked what it was, Lila timidly said that she was too nervous to say anything else. She knew they would bug her and assure her that she could tell them anything.
Monday morning, just as she planned, everyone was encouraging her to trust them and tell them what was bothering her. Seeing that Bustier and Marinette weren't in class yet, she knew now was the time to strike.
Squeezing her eyes shut as she harshly pinched the inside of her elbow to bring tears, she started weaving her story. "It's just, someone's been bullying over text. It's so bad. She keeps telling me that I'll lose all my friends and that I should just kill myself," she said between forced sobs as she dropped her head into her hands. "And it never stops. Sh- she texts all day and into the night. And when I tried to show my mom, the messages were gone. I don't know how, but it's like my phone got hacked and the messages disappear after I've read them."
Max mentioned that there are self deleting message apps, but he wasn’t familiar with them. Then he looked at her searchingly. "You keep saying 'she', that would indicate that you are aware of who is behind this?"
Doing her best surprised face, Lila shook her head. "I can't say, none of you would believe that Marinette would-" she gasped and covered her mouth. "Oh no, I really shouldn't have said anything."
Lila watched as the sheep exchanged surprised looks while Adrien glared at her, but he wouldn't say anything. His father would have made sure of that.
"You're saying that Marinette, our class rep, has been bullying you over text?" Alix asked, unease evident in her tone.
She shook her head while turning up the water works. "I knew I shouldn't have said an-anything. She's your friend, too."
"You said she's been doing this constantly?" Mylene asked, eyeing her carefully as Lila nodded. "When did she last send you one of those texts?"
Sniffling, Lila rubbed her eyes to give herself a second to think. It felt like these were leading questions, like they knew something she didn't. Meaning they'd probably spent time with her over the weekend and would have noticed her messaging Lila constantly. But since everyone was here and Marinette wasn't…
"Right before class. It- it asked if I was dead yet." Another sniffle and she was sure the class was wrapped around her fing-
"Marinette was right! You are a liar!"
Lila was so surprised by Kim's outburst, she forgot to keep crying and stared at everyone as they glared at her in disgust and moved away from her.
"I can't believe we almost bought that crap you were selling!" Alix turned away, face turning red in anger.
"But- but it's the truth! I-"
"There is a .03% chance of what you said being true." Max interrupted, staring down his nose at her. "At this point it is better that you admit it."
Casting a desperate look around the classroom, she was surprised that no one looked supportive. Even Adrien looked absolutely done with her. Realizing the jig was up, she let her expression morph to anger and annoyance as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Wow, I'm surprised you idiots figured it out. Usually you do exactly what I say after faking a few tears. I'm curious, what gave me away?"
The sudden change in the Italian girl gave them a bit of whiplash, but Nino answered her. "You ruined Marinette’s phone when you dumped your water on her. She isn't getting a new one until this Friday. No way she could have been messaging you at all."
"Huh, I guess it was worth dumping that on her, even if you idiots started to notice." Then she shrugged and stood from her seat. "Oh well, good to know for my next school, this place was getting stagnant anyway."
Kim blocked her way. "You're not going to get away with-"
"Shut it, you stupid jock. I've already got Bitch-stier and Dumb-ocles eating out of my hand. When I tell them you're ganging up on me, all of you will get detention while I walk free." Sidestepping her soon-to-be former classmates, she gave them a sarcastic wave and smile as she bid them "ciao" and opened the door…
To come face to face with a furious teacher, principal, and her mother!? What's she doing here? Did they just hear what I said?
The thought barely finished when her mother reached out, literally grabbed her by the ear, and dragged her out the door. The class watched in shock as Mme Rossi screamed and lectured her daughter all the way to Damocles' office.
They would be informed days later that Lila had been sent to military school in Italy. In lycee, they heard rumors that she had been arrested for stalking a local celebrity in Venice. During university, Alya found an article about Lila Rossi being sentenced to 30+ years in prison for attempting a ponzi scheme. It had failed terribly and her victims got all their money back, but Lila would have to serve 5 years for each of her victims.
Not that it mattered to them anymore. The class was too busy with their own lives and futures to put much thought into some lying brat that they went to school with for a little while.
Bonus:
Tikki fought her grin as she watched Lila being dragged away by her ear as she and Marinette came up the stairs. Sighing with relief, she was about to enjoy a well deserved treat when she heard a familiar snicker behind her.
"Nice going, Sugarcube. Couldn't have done it better, myself." Plagg cackled as he passed her a cookie before indulging in a wedge of cheese he'd brought with him.
She grudgingly took the cookie before looking away from him. "It was an accident, I touched her hand when she tried planting that pen in my holder’s purse. What happened was her own doing and not my fault."
"Su~re. And the fact that she interrupted your cookie time and dumped your macaron onto the floor had nothing to do with it?"
The look she gave him had Plagg laughing on the inside. Only on the inside.
"That was a perfectly baked, blueberry macaron with a tart, lemon curd filling. I only got one bite before it got dumped to the floor. A price had to be paid."
Plagg watched with great affection as his Sugarcube took a bite of her sweet treat. Oh yes, he'd learned millennia ago not to interrupt cookie time. Just like Henry the VIII, that Lenin guy in Russia, and a few others. They had experienced the wrath of the goddess of creation when interrupting cookie time, though Plagg was the only one to know why things went so bad. It made him smart enough never to do it again.

something I love to see is like. How fandoms treat villains differently and I think you can really see it in miraculous ladybug and the villains of Lila vs Hawkmoth
(cw HP) like it’s analogous to Harry Potter and how the fandom treats the villains of Umbridge and Voldemort. I’ve seen others say that Voldemort is such a far away and cartoony evil that it’s hard to relate to and feel threatened by… but Umbridge? She is every single teacher that hurt us, the uncaring and actively malicious authority figure in our school or work life, and the bigotry in the education system and legal system given a face. So she represents a much more close evil than the end of book villain, which is why fandom fixates on her and projects everything on here
And that’s what I think is happening with Lila in salt fics. Why she’s so demonized in comparison to Hawkmoth in those fics. (This is not to relate it to the canon because the canon isn’t supposed to be projection fuel) but really, most of us aren’t haunted by a distant evil man in a tower, we’re just not going to relate to that part. But most people have had that middle school bully who seemed to have it out for us. We’ve had friends with lying sides who made rumors about us or hurt us with fake sweet words, and Lila is just a stand in for everyone that did those things. We can project all of our anger and hurt on her, making her a demon because that’s how we felt about our bullies. And genuinely, no one really got justice or closure. Zero tolerance policy hurt the bullied kids just as much as the bullies, if not more in how it never really put a stop to bullying.
Maybe that’s why Lila can be so over the top in fics, her comeuppance so grand, and Marinette so willing and able to cut ties with toxic friendships. It’s wish fulfillment. We wish our bullies got what was coming to them, we wish we were able to walk away from things that we once loved but now was hurting us.
Idk, I just love it.

CHANGING FACES Chapter 1: How We Got Here.
[ Prefer to Read on Archive of Our Own? Click HERE for the link ]
[ Other Works By Me -  Next Chapter ]
After years of dealing with each other Lila Rossi win's when she convinces Hawkmoth that Marinette is Ladybug. In order to throw off suspicion and keep the Miracle Box safe Marinette and her supportive parents leave Paris and head to Gotham of all places. In this new place away from her friends and her unhealthy routines Marinette is forced to confront herself and change for the better. Helping her on her journey is a surprising new friend and potential ally. When Alya missing her friend learns about the chance to win a free trip to Gotham she convinces the class to work hard to qualify. When her new life clashes with her old one will Marinette be able to hold on strong to her new confidence or will she crumble under the pressure?
( This fic will be for the most part comedic, fluffy, and sweet, with only a bit of seriousness to tie it together. With only the mildest salt because I don't think the class or Adrien are bad people just that they can be naive and selfish thanks to the canon writing. I hope you enjoy reading this work and have fun with me on this journey. )
Marinette felt hot tears streaming down her cheeks as she clutched onto her parents and sobbed. She felt like her world was collapsing and yet she desperately held herself back from despair. The bakery that had once made the best pastries in all of Paris bringing smiles and warmth to those who needed it on rainy days, the house that had carried Marinette through her youth with her ever changing height etched into one of the doorways, the pink room that held precious memories of friends and fights and tears and laughter, the balcony that had seen many a hero visit it. All of it was gone. The wild flames devoured every bit of the precious structure. Worse still this was not the work of an akuma, not something that could be undone with a magic swarm of ladybugs, but worse than the permanence of this act was the person behind it. As Marinette’s parents pulled her closer comforting her and themselves the young hero wondered how she was supposed to tell them that Hawkmoth was targeting her?
CHAPTER 1:
How We Got Here
Lila Rossi had always been an ambitious girl, she knew she was beautiful and prettier than other girls when her father got her that first modeling gig at 6 years old for a well known children's brand. She knew she could act and get what she wanted at 8 when she starred in several commercials, she wowed those behind the camera with her poise and charm!
Lila knew she just KNEW that she was born to be a star! When at 10 she won a National beauty pageant and they placed the massive sparkly crown on her head while her father stood beside her beaming with pride. Sure the gems were fake but someday she vowed to get real ones!
Her father always told her how much better she was, he never disciplined her, never worried about her grades, he only expected her to be her best whenever a camera was pointed her way. He treated her like the Princess she was. And shielded her from her mom's constant criticism about her ‘academic’ performance and her concerns over Lila ‘being too thin for her age’ and her constant whining about being ‘kinder’ to her annoying ugly classmates.
His most important lessons were not the ones about her stance, walk, or looks. No, the most important lessons he taught her were how to use those around her, common people were just tools designed and made to be useful to those better and smarter than them and if they were not useful? Then they had to be removed.
Her father had ‘removed’ many useless people from her path. He had blackmailed, scared, and tricked those around him his whole life all while wearing a dashing smile on his perfect handsome face. Beautiful clever people like them were meant for better lives, he told Lila, building her dreams for fame, fortune and a life on an easy street. Grades and hard work would never get her anywhere in a world that valued connections, beauty and money.
And for years Lila followed her father without hesitation, she lied and schemed and made connections. And whenever she messed up her daddy was there to fix it with a well placed lie and some cash. Lila had hardly needed to try in school for years with her fathers help and a few well placed lies the gullible idiots were always there to help! Teachers and classmates were always a sucker for her story of how ‘she never had many friends due to her mama's career’.  Her life was easy, and the fact that her mothers job made the family move so frequently only helped Lila get away with everything after all teachers notes about her behavior got lost between borders and languages easily!
Life was great, and it would have stayed that way if she hadn’t made a mistake. At 13 Lila was living in Gotham, a disgusting place full of horrible people and a penchant for crime. But under all the grit and grime of the city was a gem Lila quickly set her eyes on. She went to the right school, studied her target carefully, and then she played the perfect role until her prey was caught. Her father had burst into laughter with a proud grin on his face as Lila told him of her glorious success. If they played their cards carefully they would be living the easy life soon enough.
But Lila had slipped up, she had thought her victory was assured and let her mask slide at just the wrong time. The result was a messy breakup with her golden ticket, one Lila did not take well she bit off more than she could chew and next thing she knew there was a lawsuit. It should have worked out like everything always did, her dad should have fixed it with money and a charming smile. But that didn’t happen, instead her father's lies were exposed. His several illegal get rich quick schemes were brought to light along with his bribery and blackmail.
Lila’s mother was horrified and in order to survive the scrutiny that became aimed her way Lila had no choice but to fake her shock and horror as well, leaning on her mothers trust to sneak through. She had to bite her tongue as her father was dragged to jail and her mother divorced him and applied for a transfer. Lila’s life fell apart and her dreams of fame and fortune were severely set back with her fathers connections severed. But Lila was not so easily defeated. She always wins in the end ALWAYS. So as her mother ushered her onto a plane set for Paris France Lila schemed.
France as it turned out was perfect for Lila, the presence of Hawkmoth meant that most people acted extra gullible and ‘kind’ and with a weakness that big all Lila needed to do was find the right people to exploit and she’d be back on track. A quick look at the biggest fashion brands with headquarters in Paris soon led to one of her favorites Gabriel, one of the best of the best, and a quick look at the Gabriel’s brand on the internet led to his teenage son. A blonde boy that was JUST Lila’s taste and just her age, from Adrien Agreste’s instagram she soon found his school and classmates and it was the perfect jackpot.
Adrien attended an extremely exclusive school the cream of the crop attended, the students were either rich or talented enough to earn scholarships. Lurking through Adrien Agrestes pictures Lila learned about his classmates and it only got better. Nino Lahiffe a musician and wannabee film director who had won a few amateur competitions getting his name out there. Alya Cesaire, a teenager running the most successful blog in Paris with one of the few exclusive interviews with the hero Ladybug. Chloe Bourgeois the mayor's beloved daughter. The rest of the class was just as impressive, a few sports fanatics, a couple musicians, some super nerd who made a sentient robot, some loser who was making superhero comics? Apparently they were popular so whatever. Some girl who apparently won a hat competition with a hideous bowler hat with a feather? A wannabe model who had pictures of herself wearing clothes from a photoshoot she did that Lila would DIE for. But most infuriating was the up and coming actress of the class she had starred in several commercials after Nino’s award winning amateur short films had her starring in a leading role, Lila had to take a deep breath and remind herself that if things went the way she planned that would soon be HER and not some chubby little charity loving wimp.
Getting her mother to agree to enroll her into Collège Françoise Dupont was easy, if anything her mother was delighted and happy to see Lila taking her education so seriously that she’d looked into schools all by herself. Lila only put on a fake smile and told her mother that she needed a good education if she was going to become a woman half as impressive as her mom. That got Lila’s annoyance of a mother to fold like a deck of cards and she called the same day to book a tour of the school and a meeting with the faculty to discuss her daughters placement and safety after all the whole ‘akuma’ situation bothered Delia Rossi greatly when it came to the safety of her daughter.
Getting her mother to take her to the school tour and meeting was just as easy as getting her to call and the second they arrived Lila began hunting for the teacher who would help get her what she wanted. While she could still access Agreste and his classmates from another class it would be easier if she could be in the same class and for that she needed to find and meet with his teacher a woman mentioned in a few of his and his classmates posts for being the ‘best’ teacher they apparently even through her parties to celebrate how kind and great she was. Gag. But hopefully if she was as sweet as she said she’d also be just as stupid. Kind people were ALWAYS stupid.
Luckily sneaking away wasn’t hard. The second they entered their meeting with the Principle Lila knew she’d thrive in the school. The fat man was clearly nothing but a bumbling fool and the way he bent over to try and please Lila’s mother due to her status and wealth made it clear he was someone easy to use. However when he introduced Lila’s teacher a Ms. Mendeleiev Lila could tell she would only give her trouble. The woman was stiff, serious and oozed no nonsense this would not do at all so Lila acted fast, batting her eyes and asking in an excited tone if she could explore the school while her mom and Damocles continued talking.
The second the office door closed behind her Lila dropped her fake smile and went on the hunt. No way was she going to Ms.Mendeleleiv’s class. Luckily Adrien Agrerste and his classmates loved posting pictures on there stupid little instagrams and using them she quickly tracked down the classroom. Luckily she had gotten her mother to plan the meeting for the lunch period of a school day which meant that the person Lila wanted to see was in her class eating lunch. Now all Lila needed to do was convince Caline Bustier that Lila Rossi should be in her class. Putting on an innocent smile Lila shyly knocked on Bustier's open door.
Getting the redheaded teacher on her side had been easy. Almost TOO easy. It was like the whole of Paris was filled with gullible morons just waiting for Lila to give them a proper use. By the end of the lunch period Caline Bustier had gone back to the office with Lila to talk her mother and Damocles into putting Lila into her class. And all Lila had to do to get Caline to dance to her tune was play the role of the shy sweet perfect girl who had just lost her father and moved to a strange new city, slipping in how she was the daughter of a powerful woman and sprinkling in details about her many accomplishments in the acting scene as well as her hard won pageants only seemed to make Bustiers eyes gleam with greed. Lila soon figured her out, it seemed Caline Bustier liked to collect the cream of the crop for her class and now she wanted to add Lila to her jewel set. It worked out well so Lila let it happen.
With everything set up Lila waited eagerly for her first day of class ready to take a seat on her new throne and command her new subjects to help build her an untouchable career filled with fame and wealth. Even if she was using them they should thank her after all by helping her with her career they would be helping their own careers after all Lila needed them to succeed so that she could succeed. If anything they should thank her for selecting them. As Lila headed to bed that night she could not help the grin that slid onto her face. Losing her dearest father had been a blow but Lila would still conquer the world. Just like they had always planned.
Sadly. In every kingdom there is a fire starter. Someone who doesn’t know their place. Lila had met many of them on her journey to the top. In the past her father would have taken care of them but now Lila was on her own and she wasn’t dealing with just one but two.
Ladybug, the local hero who Lila should never have had the displeasure of meeting face to face, had ruined her shot at wrapping Adrien Agreste around her finger. Worse still Lila’s mother had dragged her back to italy after learning of Lila’s akumatization. It had taken Lila awhile to convince her mother that she was not only safe but remembered nothing of the incident. She also needed to lie about the real reason for the incident claiming that she’d been akumatized after she lost her fathers gift necklace. Luckily while she convinced her mother to head back to Paris Caline Buster the gullible woman that she was let Lila video chat with the class and weave them a pretty lie about her mothers work taking her somewhere much more exotic then her grandparents stupid apple tree farm.
However during her second ‘first day’ at her new school Lila met her second rival. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Lila was shocked by the influence she held over the others in class. Her social media profiles made her seem like a nervous shy wreck who could trip over her own feet any second. Yet apparently she was some fashion designer wannabee and class president. Lila soon learned that Marinette held power and popularity and Lila knew she needed her GONE asap if she was going to succeed.
But things just kept getting in her way, after getting Marinette booted out of the school Adrien had interfered he’d offered Lila a good deal, worse she still had hopes of making the blonde idiot her’s and since he was ALL about friendship and forgiveness she needed to play the part for him. So she let Marinette slink back to school and prepared herself for their battle. Lila would get rid of Marinette and Ladybug one way or another.
It took years to hatch the perfect scheme. As seasons changed and Lila got older, her brilliant plan had half succeeded. Now at 16 years old if you looked in magazines or out your window at billboards it wasn’t just Adrien Agreste’s face anymore. No Lila was there too now acting as THE face for Gabriel’s young womens fashion line. Her mother had stopped complaining once Lila’s grades went up which was easy to achieve when she could pay, guilt, or manipulate someone into doing her homework for her or worse come she could use Bustier and Damocles to fix her grades. After all having a supermodel with a mother in Politics looked good for the school and helped bring in donations from wealthy parents so her grades should reflect that.
But despite how well things were going the thorn in her side had remained. Ladybug continued to be an annoyance that dominated Adrien’s focus. While Marinette continued to ruin her schemes. When they were 13 Lila had tried spreading rumors and lies but Marinette kept disproving them with her perfect little good girl act. At 14 Lila upgraded to sabotaging Marinette making sure she missed parties, deadlines, she even destroyed a dress commission Marinette claimed was for some big shot called Penny Rolling? Yeah Lila had never heard of a Penny Rolling in rock music, what a pathetic lie. Annoyingly however Marinette bounced back when she missed parties the class waved it off as Marinette being busy being ‘awesome’ when she missed deadlines she somehow still came through and the big dress commission Lila destroyed? Marinette somehow salvaged it and Lila saw it on a magazine cover a week later.
At 15 Lila and Marinette entered a cold war period. Lila had one to many close calls where Marinette almost exposed her and with her job at Gabriel Lila wasn’t going to risk it. However that didn’t mean things were peaceful. Lila had learned she could weaponize her classmates. They were kind gullible idiots but if there was something Lila had learned it was that they were all a little selfish. All of them had big ambitions and goals in life and the talent to back them up its why Lila had chosen them in the first place as thanks to their talent she’d appeared in a few of Nino’s award winning short films which got her commercial work, she’d also used Alya’s blog to create a booming social media presence for herself, through Kitty Section Lila got to meet several music people. But in order to be as successful as they were, the class sometimes made selfish requests of each other and Lila was able to manipulate that. Marinette was crushed under the weight of demands she could never bring herself to say ‘no’ to. Lila even heard from Alya that Marinette had closed her websites commissions just to help her class. The stupid designers dreams got stalled thanks to her ‘kindness’ while Lila’s career took off toward the stars.
But now at 16 Lila was done playing with Marinette she needed her GONE. Marinette was a threat to her career and her kingdom but the real straw that broke the camel's back was when Marinette used one of Lila’s own lies against her forcing her to back down from starring in one Nino’s newest short films, and giving the role to that dumpy little goody brat Mylene. The film had gone on to win international awards and Mylene had been given a job offer for a tv show. Lila had seen red at that and knew that she had been playing nice too long Marinette needed to go.
Luckily Lila had learned a few new tricks. Getting rid of Marinette directly would endanger her if things went wrong. She’d seen that first hand with her father. No, the best way to get rid of a threat was to have someone else do it for you and luckily Lila had made friends in very high places. Hawkmoth was a pathetic villain with a losing streak so long it was embarrassing to call him an ally but, Lila found it handy to keep the butterfly obsessed villain on her side. And now he was going to help her greatly. Lila had for years noticed the similarities between Ladybug and Marinette mostly in how they kept interfering in her life. Now did Lila actually believe they were the same person? No, Marinette was too much of a cowardly little mouse to be the bold Ladybug not to mention they looked nothing alike… Not that Lila could actually remember what Ladybug looked like when she tried to think about it. But whatever the point was, Hawkmoth was desperate and Marinette was the perfect person to point his way.
It only took 30 minutes for Lila to convince Hawkmoth to look into Marinette between the girls track record at never being akumatized her constant absences whenever Ladybug was around. And all the other lies Lila came up with to make Marinette seem more suspicious then she was Hawkmoth was convinced to check in on Marinette. After that Hawkmoth and Lila met a few more times each time Lila pushed him a little farther and whispered in his ear some more fake evidence until finally she got him right where she wanted him. It was a simple suggestion, an idea she acted like she’d only just had and not one she’d been plotting for months.
“Why not burn down the house? If she is Ladybug and hiding the other miraculous there she will have to reveal the hiding place in order to retrieve them from the rubble?” When Hawkmoth answered in silence before pulling back his butterfly from Lila breaking there connection and conversation she knew she’d made her mark.
Sure enough a few days later Lila turned on the news to be met with a delightful sight. The best bakery in all of Paris was burning down to the ground in an uncontrollably wild blaze. For the next few hours firefighters fought back the fire but by the time it was done burning there was hardly anything left. The family was sadly unharmed as it turns out Marinette and her parents were having a family night which included a trip to the new horror movie hitting theaters. Lila bit her lip annoyed as she’d hoped Hawkmoths unhinged frame of mind would have him remove Marinette permanently as with her home burned there was still a chance she would return to school and continue being a pest.
The following monday however Lila learned her plan had still worked just fine as a heartbroken Alya sobbed into Lila’s shoulder that Marinette’s parents had decided they could no longer handle the stress of living in Paris and were moving back to Tom’s childhood home in America. Lila had to fight to keep the grin of victory off her lips as she rubbed Alya’s back and made fake promises that it would all be okay and that surely her and Marinette would stay bff’s even with the distance. The look of Adrien looking confused and heartbroken only delighted Lila more. With Marinette gone Lila would finally be able to do what she set out to do 3 years ago. She would replace her and become the one everyone loved and listened to.
Lila had finally won.

The Fox and The Fae
Ok so this is my take on a modern day fairytale kind of story. Would you guys like some more chapters? I've currently marked it as a one shot but I'm thinking about adding some other chapters focusing on Alya, Chloe (or Zoe possibly) and maybe some other characters and the deals (or curses) they make with or from Luka.
=====================================================
Lila looked around with an expression of disgust on her face as she walked down the steps towards the Seine. It was the last place she wanted to be, especially with how unsightly it was but she was desperate. In her mind, she believed that she should be worshiped by all who saw her. She was a goddess and deserved to be treated as such. However, her life was not what she envisioned at all. She was almost 21 and she still wasn't famous or adored. She still wasn't filthy rich or had a hot and rich guy on her arm. The media had no idea who she was and she was working as a lowly advert actress and a small time model when she deserved to be up there with a A listers. Well, that life wasn't good enough for her but she didn't want to have to work for it. Oh no, Lila believed that what she wanted should be handed to her on a silver platter. She was destined to be one of the elite and she knew it. However, her usual methods of cheating and leeching off others didn't working in the way she wanted so she had to come up with something, which is what lead her to The Seine or as she called it the slum area. Paris itself was home to many supernatural creatures and she had tried every trick in the book but they weren't good enough. Nothing was. She had been to several of the supernaturals in the city but they could only offer her charms to briefly improve her luck or a hex that will curse her enemies. Some had offered her spells to bring in some positivity or some had done rituals for her but none of them lasted and she wanted something more effective and permanent. She wanted her name to be remembered forever and for anyone who had tried to cross her to get exactly what they deserve and suffer. Naturally there had been some in her life but one stuck out. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. A half breed witch who tried to expose her in their school and was currently living a good life. Well, that wasn't fair which is what lead her to here. Of course, she wouldn't be seen dead here normally but she had tried everything else so now she was going to the place where she knew someone would be able to help her. However, she went in disguise. She couldn't risk been seen here plus the Seine was rough. It was home to the low class humans, witches and worst of all the fae, an extremely attractive race with a reputation worst then werewolves. The fae were treated poorly, forced to live in awful conditions and were labeled as scum, tricksters and other degrading names. Despite this, they were one of the most powerful race when it came to using magic and the only creatures that could give her what she wanted. Due to been very unpopular in Paris, they were hard to find but she had managed to track one down with the help of her sheep, Alya. The fae supposedly lived in a houseboat in the Seine river and was her last hope. However, he had a rep of been a bad guy and been extremely dangerous but Lila didn't care. She wanted her promised life and would do anything to get it. She came to a stop as she saw the boat she was looking for, frowning to herself before she took out a fox tail pendent and put it on. One of the reasons why people didn't like the fae was because of their ability to detect when people were truthful or not. No one quite understood how it worked but faes were said to be able to look into the very soul of people and that made them uncomfortable, which was why Lila had the pendent. It had a powerful charm on that would protect from the fae's truth seeking eyes. Satisfied with it, she stepped over to the boat and climbed onto the gangplank before heading onto the boat. She grimaced at the scattered boxes and papers that littered the deck but shook it off. She walked over to the entrance to the cabin and began to descend down the stairs into darkness.
"Hello?" She called, looking around but she couldn't really see anything. "Is anyone home?"
"Oh, we have a visssstor," A voice hissed, making her jump and look where it came from. Instantly, she saw two glowing eyes that were teal green in color and snakelike.
"I don't recall having any visitors," A second voice added, though this one sounded more human. It was actually a very nice voice. It was softly spoken and almost musical. Almost instantly, she felt her body relax as she walked over, unconsciously drawn to it. Another reason why people hated faes. They were naturally seductive with how they were and how they spoke. "And what do you want?"
Oh, she could listen to that voice all day... but she needed to remember why she was here.
"I..." She mumbled, shaking her off the fog in her mind and putting on her innocent act. "I hear you have the power to give people their hearts desire,"
"Hmm," He replied as she watched. The eyes moved suggesting the fae was getting up before a light came on, revealing a large amount of snake tanks and a young man. Lila studied him as he glanced at her. He was very attractive but the fae were supernaturally beautiful. His hair was black with teal blue highlights and his skin looked slightly tanned. He wore black ripped joggers and a white tank top, showing off his toned arms that had tattoos of snakes going up them. It was clear that the fae had snakelike features too. The most obvious was his eyes but he also had a number of green teal scales across his arms and neck. Lila felt a little uncomfortable as she glanced at him but that discomfort turned to fear as she felt something sliver over her feet. She looked down and screamed as she saw a snake that looked up at her and stuck its tongue out. She felt panic rise as she wanted to kick it but before she could, the fae was in front of her. "Not fond of my reptile friends hmm?"
"I... I'm afraid of snakes," She gasped, actually telling the truth for once. The fae smiled at her before turning away. "Could we go outside?"
"Why? They're not going to bite and most of them aren't poisonous," He replied, looking back at her. That's when she noticed the snake resting around his neck. It would have been beautiful to anyone not afraid of them. It was teal green with dark teal diamonds across it's body and a hood around it's head like a cobra. His eyes searched her features, making her feel like he was searching her soul before they flickered down and landed on her foxtail pendent before he sat back down and glanced at her. "Well, aren't you here for a reason? Tell me what you desire, Little Fox,"
"I... I would like to be famous," She replied, trying to seek shy and meek. "It's been my desire-"
"So you want a little fame?"
"A little fame? I want more then just a little fame!" She gasped, pinching her nose before realizing she almost lose her cool. She took a deep breathe and shot him a smile. Not that he was looking. He was holding one of his snakes and sticking his tongue out at it in a playful manner. It made her feel sick when she saw it was forked. "I mean I want to be the most famous person on the planet if you can do that. I really want my name in every newspaper and to be up there on the red carpet with all of the A listers. I want to be so famous no one will ever forget my name,"
"Interesting," He replied as she took a breathe. "I can definitely do that. Is there anything else you want?"
"Oh yes, there is," She replied, ready to turn on the water works. "T-There's this woman who has been making my life awful since high school. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She use to bully me and she constantly makes it hard for me to reach and work for companies. I'm sure she's had me blacklisted. I can't even order of her website because of this,"
She began to cry, making the fae frown but not for the reasons she thought. He heard the name Marinette Dupain-Cheng before. He was sure she was a friend of his sister and Juleka had said she was nice. He turned his attention to Lila. Depending on what she said depended on what he could do.
"I'm sorry... I just..." She sniffed. "I j-just want her to finally get what she deserves. I've tried to be the bigger person but... she just doesn't stop,"
"I see," He replied, frowning. He wasn't sure he believed her but he couldn't tell with her pendent on. Luckily, she had said 'get what she deserved' which meant he could easily work it so he doesn't harm her. 'Getting what she deserves' can be considered a grey area, meaning he can do anything he wanted as long as he deemed it 'what she deserved'. Yes, he could still honor the contract without harming anyone. Sure, he had cursed a few people but he didn't like to if he didn't have to. "Well, I can easily do those things. Fame and fortune. It's yours and getting even with this person. Easily done,"
"Really?" She gasped, surprised. "When can you do it?"
"I can start immediately. Of course, it will take a little time for your fame to skyrocket but I promise it will," He replied, making her frown a little. "It's only natural that I have to make some spells and pull some strings but of course, none of this can happen until we've discussed a price that is,"
"A Price?" She questioned surprised. She had heard Faes didn't charge a fee. "I was unaware,"
"Of course, my services don't come free," He replied, smirking. She frowned as if she hadn't expected that. "All magic comes with a price, Lila and fae magic is typical expensive,"
"Expensive?" She echoed. "I don't have a lot of money,"
"My price is fairly simple in it's nature but still rather costly," He replied, waving his hand. A contract appeared out of thin air, making Lila gasp. "€150. Once you sign the contract, it can't be altered or amended,"
"That's all?" She asked, making him nod. She would have to live with all her fame and her enemies getting what they deserve. It sounded like a fair price to her. "That seems pretty cheap and fair to me,"
"Then if you're satisfied, sign the contract," He smiled, holding out a pen. Lila snatched it out of his hand and grabbed the paper, signing on the line at the bottom. As soon as she did, the contract and pen appeared in the fae's hand. "Excellent! Glad to do business with you, Little Fox,"
"Oh thank you so much!" She gasped, smiling before she left as he smiled back. As soon as she did, the smile left his face as his snake moved around his neck.
"She wass wearing a protection amulet," The snake hissed. "Are we sure she's telling the truth? Should we grant her wissh, Luka?"
"A deal is a deal, Sass," He replied, folding up the contract and putting it with the others he had. "She will have her fame and Miss Dupain-Cheng will get everything she deserves,"
  ~A Couple of Weeks Later~
Since making the deal with the fae, Lila's life had dramatically improved. She went from been a barely known actress to an A-star Celebrity. Woman wanted to be her and men wanted her. She had adoring fans who screamed her name and cried when she walked past. She had landed herself in a relationship with a pretty handsome man. She was on top of the world and richer then she had ever imagined. She had it all but it wasn't enough. She could have all the money and fame in the world and it would still not be enough because Marinette Dupain-Cheng hadn't suffered yet. Her business was still successful. She hadn't been made an example of nor had she disappeared of the face of the earth. If anything, she was getting more popular. To say Lila wasn't happy was an understatement. Sure, the fae had told her that it would take sometime but she wanted her nemesis to fall now! Which was why she was storming towards the fae's boathouse to demand he destroy her life. She stormed onto the boat and stalked into the living area, where the fae was sat with his snakes.
"Hello, Little Fox," He stated, making her glare at him. "Something wrong?"
"Wrong?!" She screeched, making him frown. "Wrong?! You were suppose to punish Marinette and make her suffer!"
"Hmm I don't recall that been in the contract," He replied, making her grit her teeth. "But I don't really see the issue. You have your fame and fortune. Why fixate on Marinette?"
"Because I want her to suffer!" She screamed, stamping her foot before she pointed at him. "That was part of our deal! You need to honor it! My wish was for her to suffer!"
"Incorrect," He replied, causing their contract to appear in a puff of teal smoke. "I have it right here and it states 'I want Marinette to get what she deserves' nothing more, nothing less. Since you failed to specify exactly what that was, I decided the best course of action was to leave her alone since that's what she deserved,"
"What?!" She screamed. "You useless puck!"
The entire room's feeling changed as soon as that word left her mouth. The term puck was considered extremely offensive against the fae. It basically implied that they were nothing but pranksters and trouble makers. The fae's eyes turned green and more snakelike as Lila stepped back, realizing her mistake before she ran out of the boathouse. The fae's eyes narrowed as he watched her scamper out. She thought she could run from him but that wouldn't help her. He had cursed people for less.
"Luka," Sass's voice made him look over and stroke the snake's chin. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine, Sass," He replied, looking at the contract in his hand. "Isn't the first time and won't be the last I've been called that but like the last time, her deed won't go unpunished,"
"What do you intend to do?"
"Lila asked for fame and for this girl to get what she deserved right?" He answered, making the snake nod. "Well then I think Miss Rossi should get exactly that. By the time, I'm done with her, she'll wish she never met me but first I think it's time I paid Miss Dupain-Cheng a visit to determine exactly what she deserves. Though I have a feeling it won't be what Lila envisioned,"
  "And the fame part?"
"Oh, I'll give her a week to enjoy her new lifestyle while I deal with the second part of her contract. Once that's done, Lila will go down in history. Everyone will know her name and never forget her," Luka replied, making the snake look at him but the devious smirk on his lips told him that it was as simple as Lila been famous for been an actress. "She will get exactly what she wanted whenever she wants it or not,"
"She'll learn the hard way why one should not make themselves the enemy of a fae,"
  ~Marinette's Shop~
Marinette hummed to herself as she flicked through the magazine she was reading. Lila had been on the front cover but despite what people now believed about her, Marinette wasn't mad. She was actually happy for Lila. She had never wanted to be her enemy and just didn't get why the girl couldn't be honest. Even after Lila had tried to destroy her, Marinette had given her a second chance. Come clean to the class and all will be forgiven. She had done the same with Chloe so she could do the same with Lila. Unfortunately Lila decided not to and proceed to turn almost everyone against Marinette. Something that lasted through her adult life too. Even after they had left school and moved on their careers, Lila chose to slam her at every chance she could. Whenever it was a snide comment when she saw her, whispering horrible rumors about her to her ex best friend who would then post said rumors on her news blog or just leaving a bad review on her shop, Lila was determined to ruin her. Luckily, she still had a small number on her side but she had lost a lot of 'friends' to Lila over the years but she guessed they weren't her true friends anyway. If they were, they wouldn't have believed Lila nor encouraged her to do the embarrassing and frankly creepy things in her attempt to get the attention of Adrien Agreste, one of the few faes in the city who weren't treated badly. That was probably because he was rich and part of the seelie court, which was also known as the summer court but he didn't stay by her side, despite insisting he was. No, he insisted she take the 'high road' and got annoyed at her when she decided not after losing her crush on him. Honestly, she didn't see what her younger self saw in him. She was grateful to the people who did stay by her side though. One of the people who did side with her was part of the seelie court just like Adrien but she was treated badly due to her choice of lover. Her name was Rose and her girlfriend was Juleka, the other person who stayed on Marinette's side. The thing was Juleka was half fae, half human. She didn't fit in anywhere. She was considered a freak to most witches and humans for been half fae, she didn't fit in with the seelie court as her family were part of the unseelie court but she didn't really fit in with them either. Though from what she had told Marinette, none of her family members fitted in with the unseelie court despite been full bloods either. In school, she was picked on for it, especially by Chloe, though the blonde had since changed her tune after been cursed by Juleka's brother. According to her, her brother was one of the most powerful faes in the unseelie court and had cursed Chloe with a karma spell. To say it humbled her was an understatement and she wasn't the first person to be cursed by him nor the last. Apparently, he had cursed the musician XY and his father, Chloe's own family and a number of other people but from what Marinette had heard, most of them deserved it. That didn't mean she wasn't afraid of him. She had made a mental note to never piss him off if she met him. Of course, his curses had put him at odds with the magical councils yet he got away with it. She was pretty sure he only got away with it because they were scared of him and because none of his 'victims' had been mortally wounded nor were they really victims. It had turned out that each one of them had done something wrong. XY and his father had stolen music and other creative ideas from a number of musicians, Chloe's family were corrupt to the bone and arguable to blame for Chloe's own behavior. Sure, she was partly to blame as well but she never would have become that bad in the first place if her parents hadn't given into her every whim. His other victims were far from innocent too. They ranged from criminal gangs to other corrupted politicians. Either way, his curses had been blessings in disguise. Chloe had since became a way better person, her family humbled, the artists that had their work had their thieves brought to justice and their work returned to them and the victims of the other cursed got justice. All in all, it worked out for the better. The bell rang, making her jump a little and look up.
"Hi, welcome-" The greeting died in her throat as she stared at the very fae she had been thinking about. Luka Couffaine, Juleka's older brother. She never thought she would ever see him in her store. From what she knew, he tended to stay at his boathouse at the Seine, preferring to deal with his magic and his snakes but she had seen enough photos of him to recognize him. As she stared at him, the fear she felt disappeared and was replaced by attraction. She knew fae were extremely beautiful. Rose, Adrien and Juleka all were but Luka was something else. Not only was he gorgeous but he had an air about him too. Everything about him screamed hot. His hair, his body shape and his eyes. Oh his eyes. They were so hard to look from. They were snakelike but ocean blue in color. As he stepped into the shop, Marinette couldn't help the little whine that escaped her lips. She felt like she was in the presence of an actual god. The pictures she had seen did not do him any justice at all. "H-Hi, can I help you?"
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" He asked, making her want to faint with just the way he said her name. She weakly nodded and tried not to faint as he tilted his head to the side as a smile appeared on his lips. "Well, Juleka never told me how pretty you were,"
"I... um..." She blushed as he smiled. "S-Same here,"
He chuckled as she went bright red before he closed the door.
"I need to talk to you about a recent contract of mine," He stated, making her frown. Luka was what you might call a deal maker but it was rare for a witch to get involved with it. She walked over to the door and moved the sign to say closed. "Is there somewhere private we can go?"
"We can talk in the back," She replied, making him nod and follow her as she lead him to her reading room. "So this contract-"
"I was contracted by one Lila Rossi to make her famous and to give you 'what you deserve'," He stated, making her frown. So that's how Lila got famous and now he was here to act Lila's revenge. She frowned but she wasn't surprised. She closed her eyes, waiting for him to curse her but when it didn't occur, she opened her eyes and found him look at her with interest. "There's more to the story,"
"Oh?" She asked, feeling a little silly.
"Don't feel silly. It's a natural reaction to assume I'm here to exact her 'vengeance' and technically I am here to honor that part of the contract," He replied, making her gulp. "However, Lila failed to tell me exactly what she wanted. She told me to 'give you what you deserve'. I decided to leave you alone but apparently that wasn't good enough for her so she came by and demanded I do my job,"
He rolled her eyes at that.
"She was extremely angry that I had decided that course of action to the extend where she called me a 'useless puck'," He explained, making Marinette gasp and began to apology to him. He held up his hand, stopping her. Though he appreciated the sentiment. "You do not need to apology for her. I simply came here to talk to and determine exactly what I should give you,"
  "Give me?"
"Part of Lila's contract was to 'give you what you deserved' which is why I'm here. I need to determine exactly what that is since she never actually said," He explained, making Marinette nod. "But in order to do so I need to know the full story. Why does Lila Rossi hate you so much?"
"Because I caught onto her lies," Marinette sighed, making Luka frown. He had suspected that Lila had been lying but hearing it from someone else annoyed him more. This was no longer just about contracts and magic. This was now about pride. Lila thought she could fool him and get him to do her dirty work while getting to live a good life. Well, not on his watch. "That's why she wants me to get what I deserve. She's made it her mission to destroy me,"
"So she does lie. How disappointing," He muttered, frowning. It wasn't a surprise. Faes themselves couldn't lie and had to tell the truth but they also couldn't stand liars. "That explains her pendent,"
"So what are you going to do?" She asked as he made a face. "I know a little about contracts and I know they are unbreakable. Whatever you do, she'll use it to her advantage as long as she has that silver tongue of hers. It's her biggest strength. I know from personal experience. No matter what I did to show people the truth about her, she always spun it to make me look like the bad guy and she'll do the same to you. You try and break the contract, she'll made it so you're the bad guy. You try to alter it and she'll make you look evil. You have no choice but to honor it in the way she intended,"
"I see," He muttered, making her frown. She would have some sort of punishment. "Then I'm going to honor it,"
"Then please don't be too harsh on me," She muttered, closing her eyes as Luka stepped closer to her. "I accept whatever you decide to curse me with,"
"I'm not going to curse you," He replied in a gentle voice, causing her to snap open her eyes. "Did Juleka tell you why us unseelie are hated compared to the fae of the seelie court?"
  "No?"
"It's because people believe us to be malicious," He replied, making her frown. "But the truth is we're not. No fae is benevolent or malicious. We simply grant what we are asked to so when I say I'm going to honor her contract, it will be done to the exact detail,"
"But isn't that giving her what she wants?" Marinette asked, confused. "She'll be happy with it. I suffer and she gets to be the most famous person,"
"Oh, I doubt she'll be happy with what she gets, Marinette," He smiled in a dark manner. "You see we unseelie are what you might call tricksters and mischievous. We have no rules nor do we play to others. Lila thinks she can control me but she can't. Personally, I don't like it went people act entitled nor do I like been insulted so it's my duty to punish her for her entitled and frankly awful behaviour. Lila wants fame. Well, I'll make sure no one will ever forget her name again. She wants you to 'get what you deserve' then I'll do exactly that. She's going to get exactly what she asked for whenever she liked it or not,"
"I think I understand," She replied, nodding. "I'm just sorry you had to take her job,"
"Hmm, I'm not," He replied, shrugged. "Paid for food for a week. Besides, I get to punish one of the wicked again and I know exactly how to turn this around without breaching my contract with her. Starting with you,"
Marinette closed her eyes as she expected him to reign down fury and fire on her but to her surprise, she simply felt his lips brush against her cheek as he placed a gentle kiss there. She opened her eyes as she felt magic flow through her body but it didn't feel wicked or cursed. It felt... good and light. Like she was on cloud nine. It continued to flow even as he pulled away.
"As par to my contract, I have given you what you deserve," He stated, making her look at him. "Which is a blessing of prosperity. May your future be a bright one,"
"A blessing?" She asked, generally surprised. "But isn't that breaking your contract?"
"No, it isn't," He smiled, making her blush a little. "Lila only said to give you what you deserved. She never said what that was,"
"Oh," She replied before smiling brightly. "Then thank you,"
  ~One Week Later~
Marinette couldn't help the massive grin on her face as she walked through the Gala, getting everyone's attention. She got endless compliments and couldn't believe her luck but when she thought about it, she knew it was because of Luka's gift. Apparently, this was his definition of 'what she deserves'. In other words, success and happiness. And happy she was. She had never had such a successful run before nor had she been in the spot light like this. She just wish she could thank her fae friend. After all, he had been the one to change her life.
"Marinette!" A familiar voice called, causing her to look over and see Adrien. If she had been 14 years old again, she might have fainted from his amazing smile but she was over him these days. Having said that, he still looked beautiful, just not as otherworldly as she once thought. "Wow, you look amazing,"
"Thank you," She smiled but it didn't last long as Lila stormed over.
"Marinette," She grinned falsely. On the outside, she looked happy for her rival but on the inside, she was fuming. Apparently, that stupid fae had helped Marinette become a sensation overnight, despite her contract with him. Anyone who was anyone wanted a MDC original, which was why Marinette was here and Lila hated it. She had gotten an invite because she was the current it girl. Anyone who was anyone knew her name. She was so famous that she couldn't walk down the street and she loved it but tonight someone else was outshining her and that someone was Marinette. Lila had to admit she looked amazing but it wouldn't last long.  It enraged her that Marinette was stealing her limelight and she was determined to destroy her but she would wait til Marinette lose her defense pose. "I heard you've been getting more successful recently. Oh maybe we could work together. With my status and your designs, we could do great things,"
"Oh, I'm not interested Lila but thank you," Marinette replied, making Lila grit her teeth as she stepped forward.
"Listen here, Dupain-Cheng," She hissed, getting closer to her. "There is nothing special about you as I know for a fact you had that puck help you but he also helped me and I intend to keep my throne so either you get in line or I'll destroy you again,"
"I'm not afraid of you, Lila," Marinette replied back. "And his name is Luka. Yes, he gave me a blessing and maybe that's why I'm successful but unlike you, I'm grateful for his help,"
"Typical," Lila gasped, turning on her heel and walking away from Marinette. Marinette shrugged and turned back to people as a waiter came by with glasses of red wine. Seeing her chance, Lila took one and was about to 'trip' into Marinette, planning to ruin her dress with the wine but before she could, someone caught her by the waist, removed the glass in her hand and pulled her into a dance, making her glare at Luka. "You! You broke-"
"Now, now. Don't make a scene," He replied as they glided across the floor. "There are a lot of cameras and I'm sure you don't want them to see you arguing with the son of Jagged Stone now, especially if you decide to use those racial slurs again,"
"I-" She gasped, glancing around and saw he was telling the truth. Of course he was. Faes can't lie. "You stopped me from ruining her. If you hadn't cheated-"
"I did no such thing," He replied, making her grit her teeth. "You were the one who didn't say exactly what to do with Miss Dupain-Cheng so I improvised,"
"So you made her more successful?!" She gasped in annoyance. "That is not what I wanted,"
"I care not for your wants but for the contract's words. It said to give her what she deserved and that's what I did. If anyone is to blame, it is yourself for not been exact in your wording," He shrugged, making her gasp in annoyance. "But relax. I'm not here to cause any trouble. Actually, I'm here to grant the final part of our contract,"
  "I'm already famous!"
"Are you?" He questioned, making her look around. Despite dancing with him, no one seemed bothered by her. All eyes were still on Marinette. "Seems like to me no one's really paying attention to you,"
She gasped as she realized he was right. She was famous but not enough. She turned to him with a begging expression.
  "You need to honor-"
"Don't worry, Miss Rossi," He smiled but to her surprise, he roughly grabbed her arm, causing it to feel like it was burning. "I'm here to make sure everyone remembers you forever,"
The way he said it sent a shiver down her spine and she panicked, trying to pull her arm away from him as it continued to burn before he suddenly let go.
"That's our contract fulfilled," He stated, walking away from her and picking up a glass of wine from a nearby waiter. He held up the glass to her with a smirk on his face "Have fun now,"
With that, he turned on his heel and walked over to Marinette, causing the witch to smile as she greeted him. Despite his promise, that annoyed her and if he wasn't going to punish Marinette, she would. She began to storm over but was stopped by one of the other people there.
"Oh, isn't Marinette such a darling?" She asked, mistaking Lila for one of the crowd who was admiring the girl. Lila couldn't believe her luck. She could easily corrupt this person's mind. "I would love one of her design,"
"Oh, she is the most talented designers in the world and I hate her for it," She stated, surprising herself and causing the person to look over at her before shaking her head. "I mean we were in school together and she was always so nice to other people, it made me sick. She told me to stop lying so I destroyed her life and turned most of her friends against her,"
"What?" The woman asked, looking wary as Lila covered her mouth.
"I didn't mean that," She gasped, thinking she was able to lie. "I mean I totally meant it. She was such a goody two-shoes and I hated her guts. I even framed her for stealing another person's designs once. Her class actually believed it. They were so stupid. All that to do was turn around the sketch and they would have seen her signature. The best part is she wasn't the first person I did this too,"
At this point, everyone was looking at Lila with shock and disgust, apart from Luka. He simply held up his glass to her as she glared at him. She had realized that burning feeling he had created was a curse. A curse of truth but all she had to do was remain quiet until it lifted.
"I caused a girl to kill herself," She suddenly blurted out, causing a number of people to gasp. "I laughed at her funeral and pretended I was crying,"
Lila clapped her hands to her mouth but it didn't stop her from talking. One by one, all of the lies she had said throughout the years came out in front of everyone at the gala including the cameras that were filming everyone. People were whispering to each other and pointing at her. In sudden realization, Lila realized that everyone was no longer looking at Marinette but in fact were all looking at her. They were taking her picture and the cameras and reporters covering the event were filming her too. She knew by morning her career was over and it only got worst as security came over.
"Miss, come with us please," They stated, making her look at them.
"What?!" She gasped, annoyed. "Do you know who I am?!"
"Yes, you're Lila Rossi and due to your confession the police have been called," The man answered, making her go pale. "Come quietly,"
"Quietly?! You stupid buffoon!" She screamed, despite trying to act 'innocent'. "I am Lila Rossi! I'm the best thing here and you think you can force me from here?! I deserve to be here!! Not these morons! Me! I'm the Queen! You should be begging for my attention!!"
Apparently, whatever Luka had done to her didn't just cause her to tell the truth but to drop her act. However, the security guard didn't care and went to take her arm, causing her to hit him which only made the situation worst. Soon, her downfall was filmed by all the cameras and bystanders as she was frogmarched out, shrieking like a banshee. Actually, scrap that. Banshees had nicer voices. Luka smirked as he watched her spill more lies and cause a scene, enjoying it.
"What did you do to her?" Marinette asked, causing him to turn his attention to her.
"I gave her a blessing,"  He replied, causing her to raise an eyebrow. "Unlike yours though, I gave her a blessing of truth. She can't lie about anything now. Not through words or through her personality. I would guess that she is going to be trending on social media. She wanted to be famous after all,"
"That is brilliant," Marinette smiled before turning to him. "Thank you for my blessing by the way. It's really helped my business take off but I feel kind of bad that I'm riding on your magic for all my success. I wouldn't have gotten this far without it. Is there anyway to thank you?"
"You know I only gave you a little boost of prosperity right?" He asked, making her look at him. "Everything else was all you.. but I would love to get to know you better if you're interested and if you insist on thanking me, you could get me a danish from your parent's bakery. They're my favorite treat,"
"I would you to get to know you better as well," Marinette flushed, making him grin. "And getting a danish wouldn't be a problem... want to dance?"
"I would love to," He smiled, taking her hand and leading her onto the dance floor as they heard Lila screeching in the background. By tomorrow morning, she would go down in history as a spoiled diva but not just that but people would post about her. Her previous victims would reveal how she was and the hashtag 'LiarRossi' would trend, occasionally making a comeback when something new was revealed. All the crimes and fraud she committed to would come to light, along with every bad deed she did and she would realize with growing horror that Luka fulfilled his contract perfectly. After all, he promised to make her famous and now she was. She would never be forgotten for a long time. The best part was he had brought her to the height of fame which made this so much more better. You see Fame is tricky. Once you're famous, everyone watches you every move and with how famous Lila was, people from all over would learn of her misdeeds, spreading her story all across the world. The newspapers were going to have a field day and her name would forever be remembered as a famous liar. He would make sure no one would ever forget her. After all, she asked to be known by everyone and that's exactly what he gave her. Of course, that doesn't mean he wasn't grateful to her. After all, if he hadn't taken her deal, he might not have finally gotten a chance to meet Marinette and now he had. He hoped Lila was satisfied with the outcome. He sure knew he was.

“Oh.” She murmured. “Yeah, that makes sense.”
“And if Lila happens to experience a little burning in the process, then it’s her own fault and nothing less than she deserves.” Tikki said with a strange growl.
Okay, now she KNEW something was up.
“Wait. Wait. Wait.” Marinette cut Tikki off, because that definitely didn’t sound like Tikki. She looked to her kwami with suspicion. “Are you affected by the akuma?”
“What makes you think that?” Tikki asked, innocently.
“You would never advocate for murder!” Marinette exclaimed. Because it was obvious! How was it not obvious!

High Priest, Pt. 9
From “The Many Akumatizations of Luka Couffiane”
AO3
Rose didn’t like this plan. As Chat Noir and Harmonia argued, she kept turning the idea over in her head. Sacrificing one person so that everyone else would be okay… But what if they turned over the wrong person? What if someone tried to give themselves up as the culprit and was killed because of it?
It made her shutter.
“We still can’t escape, even if we use someone as bait, right?” Kim asked. “We’re trapped.”
Max nodded. “Correct. And given the nature of this akuma, it won’t stop until we are all punished, so it wouldn’t distract him for long.”
“But it might be long enough for us to get the upper hand,” Harmonia said. “We already know his akumatized object, so it’s just a matter of getting it off him.”
“You mean the knife? He’s not just going to hand it over-”
Harmonia gave Chat Noir a withering stare. “No, it’s his necklace. Marinette made it for him as a present and he was protecting it throughout our fight with him.”
How did Harmonia know that? Rose had noticed Luka wearing a new necklace during band practice, especially since he never seemed to take it off, but he hadn’t answered when she asked where it came from. Did… did she really miss the start of Marinette and Luka dating?
Rose had been all for Adrienette since Alya had filled her in on Marinette’s crush. She and Juleka had gone to all the meetings aimed at getting the two together. But once Marinette and Luka met, and they seemed to hit it off, she’d switched teams. After all, wouldn’t a double date between the two couples be super cute? Not all the time, obviously, Rose still had plenty of things she wanted to do with Juleka that they didn’t need her older brother hanging around for, but she loved the idea of maybe one day being sisters with Marinette.
Or she had, until Marinette had turned mean. Or Lila framed her into being mean? Rose didn’t want to think poorly of Lila, they were friends, but… Luka really seemed to hate her. Even if everything they’d seen so far was Luka’s opinion, she couldn’t ignore the fact that so many people she cared about didn’t believe her. Luka was furious enough to want to hurt them. Juleka had left because of them. Surely… they’d done something wrong, right?
If Marinette really was innocent, then that meant Rose-
“There’s only so many of them, and more of us,” Alya interrupted. “What if we all attack him at the same time? He can’t stab us all at once, and it would give us enough time to grab the akuma!”
“Or we could just give him Lila,” Alix added bitterly. “He’d probably take his time with her.”
Rose gasped, horrified. Her eyes instantly darted to Lila, ready to comfort her friend… and that was the only reason she caught Lila’s fearsome glare at Alix before she wailed. Rose rubbed her eyes. Did she really just see…? Alix’s comment was harsh, but that glare…
Max coughed into his hand. “Anyway, we should assume that anyone who isn’t here is on the High Priest’s side, just in case. If we didn’t see them disappear, then they could have been brainwashed by now.”
Rose gasped. Juleka… Nathaniel wasn’t here either, and they’d gotten separated from Mylene and Ivan while running away. It was like Horrificator all over again, only this time they might find their friends brainwashed instead of trapped in pods.
Lila sobbed. “Please… please don’t give me up! He’ll hurt me if you do; Luka’s always been so mean to me!” Rose froze. As far as she knew, Lila had never been formally introduced to Lila. Lila usually missed Kitty Selection’s band practice–Rose couldn’t remember if she’d attended one, actually–and Luka didn’t pick Juleka up after school since Jules claimed she was old enough to walk herself. When had they met?
Rose had assumed that most of what the akuma said against Lila was biased, since they’d never met. But if Luka did know Lila… or maybe Rose was right, and they’d never met, but then why was Lila lying now? Is she really so scared that she’d think they’d actually sacrifice her?
“No one is sacrificing anyone!” Chat Noir shouted. “I wish Ladybug was here…”
“Well, she’s not!” Harmonia snapped. “Sorry I’m not perfect, but what else can we do? We tried fighting him, but he’s too strong!”
“Have you used Lucky Charm yet?”
“No, but do you seriously think we can beat him in five minutes before I transform back?”
“I carry some cookies on me for Tikki to recharge.” Harmonia shot Chat Noir a confused look. “Me and Ladybug switched Miraculous once, and… it’s just in case. What I mean is, you can transform back quickly once you use it. And since this is going to be the only time you get the Ladybug Miraculous, then you don’t really need to worry about your secret identity.”
“Well, that’s reassuring,” Harmonia scoffed, and then sighed. “But you’re not exactly wrong. Lucky Charm!” Harmonia threw her yo-yo up into the air and caught… a flower. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“A flower?” Alix complained. “We’re in a garden, we could have just pulled that off a bush!”
“Maybe it means we’re supposed to fight the High Priest in here?”
As her class chatted about the lucky charm, Rose’s face grew pale as she stared at the rose in Harmonia’s hand. It was about her.
She was going to have to tell them that she’d been the one to push Marinette.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng deserves better, let's begin.
This is super fucking long for no reason.
ALSO, there is charater bashing, cursing, and I would love to hear your opinions in the comments as this is what is post is for!
Firstly, Marinette Dupain-Cheng:
Marinette Dupain-Cheng is no matter how much that fucking theme song says it, NOT your average girl.
Firstly she is the daughter of the two most famous bakers in paris, that is shown during the series as we see a long line of people froming outside the bakery as the seasons progress. From this the Dupain-Cheng's have a substantial amount of money as we can presume. And she has a famous uncle in Shanghai, and during this we see her parents pay for her to go jest because she wants too. If we take a look at her grandmother we can see that she travels the world with her motorcycle, although this may be an in expensive way of travel compared to the normal plane cost; over the years of her doing this it will add up. And seeing how little we know of sabeins family and how Marinette is the only child, we can presume that she will have a big inheritance when she's older. Basically she has her life set for her the day she was born.
She not only can from a rich back-round but also made her own back-round for her self as a self though (seeing that we never seen her attend actual classes) and Purely hand made designer. She not only made designs for jagged stone but presumably has commissions from Clara Nightingale, has be recognized by the Queen of fashion, Audrey Bourgeois (controllingassmotherfuckingchildneglecter) And the one a only Gabriel Agreste (hawkbitch). She also made costumes for their school play, and did commissioms for outside people/friends. She also knows a lot of famous people/friends with the children of said people. Like alya's mother who is the head chef at Andrea hotel. Alya also runs a pretty famous blog called they ladyblog witch highlights the attacks on paris and has core footage for the hero's. This can be said for the reset of the classes future cause as of right now, they have something that, already is successful. Like max, he built a robot, helped successfully bring back dinesours and has already has planned projects for the future. Rose, she is the leading female singer for the kitty section and also has made her own perfume. Nino, he made a play at the school and is a DJ and has performed for so major events. Nathalie, he and Marc makes comics about Paris's superhero situation and has already gained a large following as we can presume. Then there is Luka son of jagged stone and lead singer in the kitty section. His sister juleka daughter of jagged stone and and been dabbled in the modeling industry. We all know about Adrien and Cholé, but what about Sabrina? Well, she is the daughter of the police chief in Paris. Kim is a Olympic swimmer, Alix a professional skatter and the Kagami, an professional and Olympic fencer.
Needless to say she has quite the backing.
Now, let's ge into the actual reason we're here.
𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚋𝚕𝚎𝚖𝚜.
•firstly she babysit for her classmates little siblings and Nadia and she also makes commission (as mentioned above)
•She provides emotional support the characters and makes sure they don't get akumatized. Not only that, she also listens to understand and gives advice to the person. Even BEFORE the akumas.
•She helps ALOT in the bakery ever since she was young and takes her time to make, box, and give out pastries so those who she thinks need it. It also helps her parents out and bring in new customers. She bakes for special events for her classmates like brithdays.
•She is also the class president and is in charge of everything in the class, wether it be, fundraisers, class trips, brithday party's , class hangout, so on so forth.
•Lila. Just fucking Lila Rossi who's names predicated her fate. She made marinette life a living hell even after she left, through CHOLÉ (hang on we are getting their) And got her expelled, turned the class on her, attempting to turn her mother as well and threaten her to keep her mouth shut. SHE ALSO FUCKING AKUMATIZED HER SELF TO GET BACK AT HER.
•CHOLÉ BOURGEOISIE. She TOURNAMENTED Marinette for nearly SIX FUCKING YEARS. This is why I HATE CHOLÉ redemption arc. She bullied, embarrassed, and destroyed Marinette in more ways than one. She told everyone Marinette had a crush on Kim, thus getting Marinette embarrassed after Kim openly mocks her WITH cholé. She destroyed her self-esteem by this and by also at every little moment, put her down whenever Marinette had a single ounce of pride in herself. She JOINS Lila to make her life a living hell and keep her away from Adrien.
•She had to watch, one by one, as herclassmates fell for Lila's lies, had to watch Lila lie and framed her, watch their disgust and disappointment. Watch as them turn against her, watch as they slowly froze her out. Only to act as if nothing happened when Lila had left for one of her "trips" and when she was exposed as a lying mole. Now for them to come retreating back, even now, not trusting her as they used to. Not even her parents.
•she can't even cry, scream, or shout about how much they hurt her because she is the "right example. " The sign of hope that they can look up to as she has never been akumatized. She is the class representive, the golden child, the sweetest and the most forgiving girl that always owns up to her mistakes. She is the everyday ladybug.
•Marinette can't lean or rely on anyone. Who would their be to help her? She is supposed to be the person OTHER people can rely on, that they can talk to advice on what they can do. To help and comfort THEM in THEIR time of need. Not Marinette she is the therapist.
•After all of this, you bet your ass that she needs therapy. She went through so much seeing her family, friends, classmates and her citizens go through so much pain, so much anger that they can't even express at the fear of being akumatized. She watched her city, burn, flood, explode, controlled, over and over again. She watched as the ones she loved would die before her eyes knowing, knowing that she can't do anything about it.
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲𝐛𝐮𝐠
𝚃𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚍𝚜 𝚊𝚗 𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚛𝚎 𝚜𝚎𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚜𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗-
○Ladybug fights akumas almost every other day.
○She can bearly express her emotions both in and out of battle as "She is ladybug".
○She has to handle and take care of all the kwamis. 19 MINIATURE GODS by her self without being caught. Then had to deal with the responsibility of being a guardian and most likely has to go through training in the future. Not to mention the possibility of more gardians visiting in the future
○She has to deal with reporters everywhere she is asking questions upon questions after her long and tiresome battles. Such questions even step into her bongeries, making her uncomfortable, but they don't care, and she doesn't want to come off a bad and have her citizens lose belief in her. Not to mention that one episode with Nadia when she interviewed the two heroes and accused them of being together. Honestly, the joke chat noir had made as well was a little too far seeing they were only a few months into being heroes.. and she was what? 11?
○Then there is chaton would matter of factly keeps trying to make advancies towards her and getting in her personal space and keeps persisting on a data and how their are "meant to be" and "their the only ones for each other" "are bond to be together" I don't even think chat knows he doing this. However I doubt that theory as well as he guilt trips and manipulates ladybug into feeling bad about not showing up on dates (even though she states that she wouldn't be as to attend) and when rejecting him, she sates her reasons clearly but guilt trips her more (by staying that he understands but he still loves her AND Threatened to stop being chat) making her feel bad. During this he doesn't listen to her, legit ignores her and is snarky towards her and in general he's a bitchy pussy cat in a few episodes. HE EVENS THREATS PLAGG TO TELL HIM WHAT WRONG WITH LADYBUG OR ELSE HE'S TAKING OF THE RING. Honestly, I love adrien. I really do. But the boy needs some major help, okay
○Then there's a hawkbitch who decided to target children to bring back his dead wife WHO WILLINGLY DIED TO BRING ADRIEN INTO THE WORLD AS A SETIMONSTER Akumatized the entire world to come after ladybug (mostly likely knowing that it'll probably kill her in the process) AND THEN THERE IS NATALIE– He teams up with a child and that child did something he's been trying to do for the past 3 years. Then He sends Lila after her make her life miserable. Then he sacrificed himself to be with Emily, RIGHT IN FRONT OF MARINETTE. Imagine your tournamenter of your city turns out to be the person you aspired to be when you grow up- And then jest fucking suicides in front of you.
○Has to fight no matter what, time, place, in side and outside suit. What the actual Fuck she can't even take a break.
○The ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD IS ON HER SHOULDERS. (Even tikki said that)
○She was thrown into being a hero with no training what so ever. (I am looking at you master Fu)
○She has to watch her city be destroyed over and over again. The place where she grew up, the people she loved, she can't even save them as she has to focus on the akumatized victim.
○She had to watch people die in front her eyes. Bruned, drowned, decapitated, frozen, stabbed, crushed. Then right after see them walk and talk as if nothing ever happened.
○Not to mention how many times she had to risk her life over and over again for this city.
○Risk her identity and safety of those around her is she is ever found out.
○she can't even ask for goddamn help mentally because of her identity as a hero and was betrayed by someone she thought she can trust. She has to keep this all to her self while being Paris's knight and shinning Amour.
○Also, chat blanc. That- that episode was fucking traumatising. Also if you didnt realise after this episode, marinette started to act differently. This is because her tendency to over think grew from there. She started to overthink more because she realised that one action may have a chain reaction that she might not be aware of. She started to really overthink from there about her actions and responses.
○Fuck hawkbitch and felix. Natalie deserves better. Adrien needs a mental evaluation and marinette need to go on vacation.
i would like to say I don't not have any thing against the characters it is jest my opinion on what I've seen through out the show, if you do not agree please jest ignore it or comment on this post! I would love to hear your reasons and responses!

Hello world!
It's been a while but hey, SCHOOL'S FINALLY OVER!
Being an upcoming high-school junior, I still have plenty of work to do this summer, but I have some goals to meet.
Firstly, though I will mostly be focusing on my works on AO3, I'll be popping in on Wattpad to update every now and then. I'll post here whenever I make an update.
Secondly, there are a few fics I need to finish by this summer, notably 'Our Love Destroyed the World'(which I haven't touched since...DECEMBER?!?), 'The Defection', and 'Three Crazy Days'. Also, I'm planning to write a sequel to 'Head Scratches'.
For those of you who have no idea what fics I'm talking about:
-'Our Love Destroyed the World': a Cat Blanc AU fic where Cat Noir goes to the alternate timeline with Ladybug
-'The Defection': An AU where the final battle between Monarch and the super duo happened after Multiplication and Adrien died(DjWifi children are protagonists)
-'Three Crazy Days': Marinette has to babysit her future daughter for three days, leading to surprising revelations and identity reveals
-'Head Scratches': Just that. Cat Noir getting head scratches from his lady.
Thirdly, regarding 'A Demonslayer's Tale', I've revised my original plan for the story and realized that with the new changes I've made, the story will be too long for a single fic, so it will be split into two volumes. I'll continue updating over the summer.
Finally, I'll be trying my hand at art this summer and trying to get better at drawing, so I might post art here, both Miraculous-related and non-Miraculous-related. Bear with me because currently I'm a terrible artist, and I'll be open to any drawing suggestions you guys have.
I'll probably be updating a few fics tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Chapter 22
So people have commented that Lila is a robot or not human; the answer is darker than that.  This Lila’s mother is a witch, one that cast a geass spell on Lila when she was a child, creating directives that she has to follow, even if ‘Lila’ doesn’t know them.  As Lila grew older her ‘mother’ changed them, Lila ‘devolved’ a personality, always following her directives not knowing them but feeling them, why …….. you’ll find out.  On another subject, I loved how they did the OTHER on Girl Genius, really I love her history and how it interacts with her own daughter.
And as always, this will be up on the other sites in 6 hours, so around 7-6, have a good day everyone and I’ll try to make the next one longer!
 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Kagami looked around the few students around the gym and shook her head.   Back at her school, the idea of someone coming to use the facilities during the weekend would have been laughed at by the teachers, but here the school was open until lunch for clubs and studying using the library.   Well, I have to give this place some credit, the top might be rotten but the supporting roots are firm.   But then the ones here, and the one I really want to talk to isn’t here, I can’t wait    She thought with a scowl as she looked at the few teachers still around, not seeing any female teachers.   She wanted to track one down, all to give Marinette’s former teacher a piece of her mind!
When the lockdown happened she had been talking with Mr. d'Argencourt and what she had learned from him made her rethink her desire to go to public school!   The way he had to scrounge just to get the materials for the club and how he brought in his weapons for the other students to use, he even said how her friend's teacher was in his own words ‘a toxic mess who should never be allowed near children!’.   With the problems Hawkmoth caused and all his emails to the school board going unanswered he was planning to march down there today and talk to someone about it all. He had admitted that he didn’t understand what drove Marinette but she was a good student, kind, and got good grades, he felt what had happened to her was a travesty that he wouldn’t let stand!
He mentioned a few rules that supposedly came from the school board, something about the greater good and how punishment was handled, but after he said that he realized who he was talking to plus where they were, claimed up and looked like he was going to walk away when the Akuma Alert sounded.
A loud cleared throat caused everyone to turn and look at Mr. d'Argencourt who had been talking with the other teacher, a Mr. Hap-something who stood next to him.
“Students, the disturbance is at the Seine, more to the point the area around the bridge near the Mayor’s hotel.   So for now the Lockdown is being lifted, everyone is allowed to leave but stay away from that part of town.  And on a hard note, this is not, I repeat, not MR. Pigeon!”   Mr. d'Argencourt called out.  As the various teen talked among themselves, some offered places to wait out the trouble if others lived across the river.
“Excuse me, you were asking about what happened to Marinette?” A voice asked and Kagami turned to see Aurore and Mireille standing there.
“Yes I was, she told me everything but I wanted to know what happened after she left,” Kagami said and both of the girls reacted with joy.
“She’s okay?! Great!”  Mireille said and released a breath in relief and tension seemed to flow out from Aurore.
“We heard all kinds of rumors, from military school to prison to well, anything really!” Aurore exclaimed and Kagami looked between the girls before coming to a decision.
“She seemed fine, but doesn’t anyone know that doing that to her was illegal?” Kagami said and the girls nodded, scowls on their faces
“The principal doesn’t want anyone to even mention anything against his ruling.   When we brought it up he threatened to suspend us,” Mireille said bitterly and Kagami glared at the school.
A few moments later Kagami walked away having gotten their numbers and promised to text them if she heard anything.  She watched the girls dash towards the TV station and tried to figure out what to do next when a rock was thrown in front of her.  Looking towards where it had come from she saw Chat Noir hiding in a nearby alley and gesturing for her to come to him.
Kagami looked towards where the parking for the school was, it was far enough away that she hadn’t been seen by the sensors yet.   She could say that she talked to a teammate about Adrien then went back to the Bakery to talk to Marinette, ask her for details about the last time she saw him and then her family let her stay with them while the Akuma attacked.   She took a deep breath and turned away from the parking lot, moving towards Chat Noir.
“Chat Noir, do you need Ryuko’s help?” Kagami asked as she reached him.   He grinned back and held up a red Chinese box and grinned at her as she took it.
“Yes, and this might be a permanent thing, but Ryuko is benched,” Chat Noir told Kagami who only raised an eyebrow at him with the box unopened in her hands.
“Then how can I help?” Kagami asked and Chat Noir opened the box, a ball of light formed above it that revealed Lonng who grinned at Kagami.
“Your costume and name don’t have to be the same my dear, we can change it quite easily,” Lonng said and Kagami looked from him to Chat Noir who grinned back at her.
“All you need to do is think about how to change it, and there you are.   A new form and a new name of course,” Chat Noir said and Kagami looked at the chocker and grinned.
“Rest well Ryuko, let Arashiko be born,” Kagami said as she put the choker around her neck.

Pegasus ran over the rooftops of Paris, making his best speed for the river and he hoped he would be able to make a difference.   He had been lucky that his mother was due back tonight instead of today so he had talked with Master Fu about some work he wanted down on the theater, they had been discussing transferring over to a digital system and how much money would need to fund it when the alert had happened, Fu had gone to put the Lockdown protocols he had for the building when Chloe had called him and when he said he would stay with Fu, best not to send in too many heroes at the start after all.
As soon as they saw what was happening after Fu came back down and they had all seen the scene from the news copter, the Kwami’s had all been in shock and had only been able to say bubbles.  Fu had looked down, seeing this as another point in favor of the idea that the Order had done something to all the Kwami.   Fu had scowled and gone to the copy he had of the Grimoire and been started to write down the ingredients he would need, then Chat Noir had called them.
After a short conversation, Pegasus dashed out into the sewer to the sewers and swiftly made it to where Chat Noir had waited for him and passed him what he had been carrying before dashing over the rooftops to the help the others.   Finally, he reached the river and saw Carapace and Apisera protecting the civilians on the bridge from the fish monsters trying to get at them from both ends.   Spotting Ladybug and the Couffaines fighting on the Liberty with the larger one standing still as the battle below it seemed not even to register to it.
Looking at the scene, he took in everything, from the fish monsters that seemed to have no end as they climbed out the river to how they were attacking the bridge and the Liberty. Pulling out his horseshoe he pulled down one side and formed his tool into an ax shape and yelled as he jumped down to the side of the river near the boat, slashing out with his weapon, sending some of the fish monsters back as he attacked.
“Pegasus, good!   Get close and prepare to evacuate the civilians!” Ladybug bellowed as she bashed another of the fish monsters when it tried to get too close to her.
“Got it!” Pegasus called out as he jumped and landed on the Liberty, ready to call on his power when Juleka cried out.
“But Rose, we can’t leave her!” Juleka snarled out and Ladybug shook her head.
“We won’t, but we need to get you all away from that thing first.   We can deal with the monsters, but we need to save everyone first, you included,” Ladybug said and Pegasus nodded.  But as he fought he caught the look on Juleka’s face and he knew she wouldn’t leave Rose so he decided to throw out an idea he and Kaalki had last night.
“I might be able to open a portal at her feet!   But if that stuff drains magic from people then it won’t work!” Pegasus called out as he slashed at one of the monsters and tore off its right arm.  The monster dropped back as puss covered the wound, moments later the maimed limb had regrown and it growled as Pegasus stood there blinking in shock before he jumped back to dodge a slash from the same monster, bumping into Luka as he attacked the one in front of him.
As they fought on Carapace took a look down at the boat as he bashed one of the monsters fighting him as he and Apisera fought to defend the bridge.
Apisera threw her top and lassoed one that she then pulled towards her before bashing it with her free hand. As it flew back she looked at the monsters trying to get by her and hoped that she could still draw them in, if they ran into the rest of the city she didn’t want to……. As she thought this she saw one of the monsters still stuck in the car she had thrown it into earlier, as she watched it started to look like it was drying out, its struggles dying down before it stopped altogether.
She could barely register it before she dodged another two that attacked her, but when she was far enough back they stood there as two others got their captive kin free and threw it into the river. “These things dry out if they're away from the water for too long!”
Ladybug heard what Apisera discovered and as she fought things suddenly crystallized for her, she had a plan.   “We need the Dragon, until they get here we hold the line!”
“Got it Ladybug!” Luka called out as he looked at Pegasus over his shoulder and nodded, both of them turning towards the gangplank.
Juleka looked at Rose as she just sat there on her knees, and all she could see was her friend when she met her in the hospital, and all Juleka wanted to do was try and protect Rose from the world.
Rose meanwhile heard everything like she was asleep and far away and the world barely registered to her, all she could think of was plants and how resilient they were.

Gabriel carefully started up the special burner, shaking his head as he realized what his wife had gotten so long ago and put gold into it.  Waiting until it turned to a liquid he put powered meteor rock that he had prepared himself and then dropped a real phoenix feather into the mixture.  Taking a dropper, he filled it with the liquid and inserted the liquid in the cracks of the Peacock Miraculous.
“Miraculous, heal theyself!” Gabriel commanded and with a flash of light, the damage was repaired. Duusuu appeared and somersaulted in the air laughing in glee unlike the Kwami ever had before.
“Wow, I feel so much better! What happened? Huh? Nooroo!” Duusuu called out before he saw Nooroo floating there and shot at him, grabbing him in a hug as Duusuu laughed in glee. “Oh wow, everything was so chaotic in my head, like a nightmare where I'd fallen into very bad hands!”
A cough caused Duusuu to look over his shoulder and see Gabriel wearing both Miraculous.  Duussu started to understand what was happening when.
“The dream isn’t over just yet my friend!” Nooroo said and Duusuu swallowed and looked at his friend.
“Nooroo, Duusu, Unify!” Gabriel commanded and they shot into their respective Miraculous.  A wave of black energy rose from his feet, leaving behind black dress shoes and black dress pants.   As the wave passed his waist, a moderate blue-violet tailcoat formed, the tail possessed several rounded points with moderate blue, dark-purple-centered spots.   The lapel of that tailcoat makes a large collar that's wider at the back, and he wears a peacock-feather-like cocktail mask which is the same color as his tailcoat and tear-shaped with a darker purple mark in the center and a brilliant crimson translucent eyehole over his right eye.   He held out his arms as they were covered by the coat and his hands were covered by silver gloves, his cane forming in his right while a silver fan with blue-violet white-tipped feathers appeared in his left.
“Not too bad, an upgrade from your old from, and the name to go with this will be what?” Nathalie asked and the Miraculous user smirked.
“Shadow Moth!   A new name for both powers, but first my dear let’s try out both of them out on a target, a close target in this room” Shadow Moth said as he looked at Nathalie and grinned, a white butterfly flew into his hands and he covered it and used his power, turning it black and it flew into Nathalie’s glasses.
“Nathalie, my champion! Once before you were given this power but with time comes wisdom that I have earned!   No longer will the power you grant cause a shade of red! No, this time it will all be normal my Enhancetress!  And to give us eyes on what is out there, a Sentimonster to see all!” Shadow Moth said as the feather and Akuma hit her tablet before she was engulfed by dark purple energy that covered her body.
When it dispersed her new form was revealed.   She was wearing a light purple dress that went to her knees where it met knee-high purple boots, it was armless and hugged her figure.   She had on dark purple detached sleeves that turned into fingerless gloves with her nails painted blood red.   The dress had a slant down the middle that went from her navel up and it revealed the sides of her breasts, around her neck was a necklace consisting of a purple circle with a green peacock on it.   Her face was covered by a veil that was under her eyes, eyes that had on purple eye shadow, a purple crown above her eyes, and above that her hair had turned crimson, styling itself into a high ponytail. From her tablet, a blob of purple energy formed that dissipated into a purple origami butterfly that had two eyes at an angle on its upper wings, with tiny black dots as its pupils.
“Lord Shadow Moth, Optigami will go and see what’s happening, how you can best use what’s happening,” Enhancetress said softly as Optigami flew away.  Shadow Moth looked at her and laughed as he took one of her hands and kissed it.
“A perfect plan my dear,” Shadow Moth said as he watched the Sentimonster fly away, trying not to think about how Encantress looked and how he was fighting down his reaction to how she looked in that dress.
Enhancetress meanwhile looked down at her tablet and thanked him in her head for giving her a veil that hid her blush.
A beeping caused them to look at the tablet and they saw what Optigami saw, and Shadow Moth scowled as he saw Chat Noir and someone he couldn’t identify.
“Is that the Dragon-Miraculous?” Enhancetress asked and Shadow Moth only nodded, wondering what they would see and how the heroes would deal with whatever was at the river.

As Chat Noir led the way, the ‘new’ dragon hero Arashiko followed behind him.    The way it felt as she transformed into a new form for the first time was strange but welcoming and her new suit and change looked great.
She still wore a red jumpsuit but it was collared differently.   For one thing, both her legs were black and a golden dragon rose from her left leg and went around her body until its head was on the front above her chest, the mouth was open on her with a black circle, in the circle were three white shapes that represented lightning, air and water.  Her arms became black at the shoulders and turned gold at the elbows.   Behind her head were the same four hours only they were now gold and the tips were now black with red separating the points and the horns, her hair was a solid crimson and her eye mast was red with a gold outline and her eyes were silted and red with yellow sclera. On her back was a sword in a sheath, the handle ending with a dragon head with a sphere in its mouth.
As she followed after Chat Noir, she could barely keep how she was feeling from showing on her face.   The way that it felt to simply move over the rooftops, the way the Miraculous augmented her abilities was amazing, and using them out of combat was amazing!   She wondered if she could ask to join the patrols she’s seen them at night sometimes.  If Arashiko was going to be part of the team, then a few nights out as practice wouldn’t be too much, but then she would have to find a way to get around the mansion’s security.
As they ran towards the river Arashiko promised herself that this time she wouldn’t go off on her own, this time she would work with them and not try and take everything on her own.
As they reached the river they saw the battle and seeing the bridge was being handled they jumped and landed on the Liberty Arashiko’s blade slashed out and slit one of the fish monster’s throat.  The puss that poured out covered the wound but the monster kept fighting, Chat Noir slashed out with his baton staff and slammed one of the fish monsters into the river.
Ladybug looked at them and grinned, with them here the plan she had could work!   Now all she had to do was……….  A roar from the larger monster caused everyone to turn and stare.   …….. what is that?  Ladybug thought as the larger creature roared again and pulled a human-size fleshy sack from the depths using its four back tentacles before it was put onto the opposite shore.   It pulsed and the smaller creatures moved back away from all heroes and Couffaines, two standing guard by Rose causing Juleka to growl and clench her weapon tighter.
As they watched the sack started to glow, lines of energy formed leading from all the people with mucus on them, even Rose to Juleka’s furry.
Suddenly an arm burst from the sack loudly to everyone’s shock.  As they watched a tall man with black hair pulled himself out of the sack. He was wearing a black cloak over a white shirt and black pants, a fencing saber on the right of his waist. He clutched a large black book in his hands and he looked around, his eyes stopping and staring straight at Ladybug.
Ladybug the crazed and possessive look in his eyes and took a step backwards, Arashiko and Char Noir saw this and both of them glared at the man.
“My Joan, I knew you were alive my love!”  The figure said with a crazed tone and Ladybug took a step back and looked at him, before paling as she realized who the man meant.  “Oh to think those dogs thought they had caught you!  I knew you could get away and we would find each other eventually!”
“Milady?” Chat Noir asked softly and Ladybug swallowed and looked at the man as the large creature growled softly
“Joan of Arc, he thinks I’m her because I’m using the same Miraculous she did,” Ladybug stammered and everyone’s eyes widened.  They were all so shocked that they never noticed two eyes by their feet had heard everything.
“Wait, what?!” Luka asked loudly in a shocked tone, the man across heard and started to growl in anger as he looked at Luka and raised a hand.
“Who is this!?   Don’t worry beloved, I; Gilles de Rais will take care of all of these traitors!” Giles called out and raised a hand, moments later a blast of energy shot out at Luka.
 Pegasus reacted first. “Portal!”
His power formed a portal just in front of Luka moments before another portal formed to the right of the larger monster and the blast tore it in two, the top half falling into the river as the lower half fell forward.
Giles just blinked and stared, shocked at what he had seen before he started to grow red in the face and started to scream at them.  “You dare kill one of my River Krakens!?  Fishmen charge, take a blood harvest!  Arise my creations, kill them for killing your brother!”

Shadow Moth stared at the screen and shook his head.  “Joan of Arc was a Ladybug? “
“It seems so,” Enhancetress said absently, stunned.  “So we’ve been fighting the successor of one of my childhood heroes.”
Shadow Moth nodded, a strange look on his face.   The question he wanted to know was who had the Back Cat during that time.   Another way for him to try and find anything to get him what he needed.  A spike of rage and hatred caused him to smile and look down, seeing that this Giles had called up more of his monsters, two more of the so-named River Krakens and ten more of the Fishmen were swarming the Liberty, one of the River Kraken had slammed into it, sending Luka tumbling off the ship only for the Dragon hero to grab him and jump away.
“This seems like we have a chance my dear.  May I ask for your blessing?” Shadow Moth asked and Enhancetress just laughed and kissed his right cheek, Shadow Moth felt a surge of energy flow through him.
Calling down a butterfly he covered it with his hands and sent it out.   A moment later he held out the fan and a feather detached and flew after the butterfly.
“Only one each?” Enhantress asked and Shadow Moth nodded.as they watched the view from Optigami
“For now my dear, let us see what happens and if we can get a better picture, and see what happens and what this Giles can do,” Shadow Moth said as they watched in silence.

Anarka glared at the scum as he kept ranting and waving about how he would save this Joan whoever she was, as the monsters he summoned attacked her boat.  The heroes were fighting the things he named Fishmen and the River Krakens or whatever were trying to hit them with the mucus things their tentacles spat, she had dodged a few blobs herself and the bridge sounded like it was being attacked even harder.   Pegasus had taken Luka away after the River Krakens started to target him, but then they just attacked anyone, all the while Giles ranted and raved from the other side of the river.
Another blast from Giles had caused Cha Noir, Ladybug, and the Dragon hero to dodge and they were fighting on the river bank, with the River Krakens targeting anyone trying to get across the river to take out Giles.   Anarka slashed out with her sword and blinded one of the Fishmen before she kicked it into the river.
As Carapace slammed his shield into one of the Fishmen he gazed towards the river and paled at what he saw.  “AKUMA!”
Looking towards them, the heroes still on the Liberty saw the Akuma-Butterfly flying towards the ship.   Juleka turned and looked at it as the
“Hello Seine Ravagers, I am Shadow Moth!   Normally I only do this one-on-one, but today is something special so let’s try something new!  I’ve got a deal for you all, save yourself then get me the Miraculous of Chat Noir and Ladybug!  Captain Hardrock, with your Skull Crew you’ll handle the smaller creatures and the Heroes! Lady Blaze; use your mastery of water to keep the larger monster at bay. Princess Flora, use the plants within the river and along the shores to hold back all your foes and awaken from what is being done to you against your will!” Shadow Moth’s voice projected into their brains, for a single moment they stood there before they all reacted.
“Yes, Hawkmoth!” Anarka and Juleka said as Rose murmured something before dark-purple energy covered the Liberty and the three people still on it.
From Anarka came Captain Hardrock, who stood there with her long red hair in its upward spiked, a savage glint in her golden eyes as the dark eyeliner with three lines going towards the sides of her head made the grin on her blood-red lips look even fiercer. Her brow was covered by a black bandana with a white spiky-haired skull on the front, along with gold circular earrings.   She wore a skin-tight, turtle-necked jumpsuit that was red from the collar to the chest and black from the chest down with the color separation looking like flames, and a black open captain’s jacket with a golden inner lining that had golden spikes on the shoulders and golden buckles on the sides. Black fingerless gloves with golden edges around the upper holes cover her arms up to her elbows and knee-high boots collared black and red in a flame-like pattern with black soles, golden heels, black inner lining, and black stripes with golden spikes above the ankles.  A sword in a scabbard was on her right side and she looked ready to kill as she drew her blade and pointed it at Giles.    “Bilgerat!  You’ll feel me forces and my blade before this day be done!”
“Her forces?” Chat Noir muttered before they all saw what she meant.
Around her formed fifteen tall purple blobs her size that broke apart, revealing ten white skeletons with purple dots in their eye sockets.  They were dressed in black ripped pirate clothing with nine of them wielding black metal short swords and guns and a tenth with a black metal saber and a black triangle hat on that stood in front of the others and saluted Captain Hardrock.
“The crew is ready Captain Hardrock!” The hat-wearing one said and Captain Hardrock just laughed.
Juleka was gone, from the blob that covered her revealed her new Akuma persona for all to see.  Her hair once straight black hair was now curly and flame red with black streaks, in her ears were two ruby earrings shaped like a flame.   Her eyes had black markings like her mother’s but above them, she wore a red metal tiara with red pearls above each eye.  Her lips were as black as space itself and in a devilish smirk that was so out of place.   She wore a tight red dress that exposed her neck to the tops of her breasts and had a necklace of a green stone on a red thread that fee to the base of her neck.  Her red gown was armless and it had orange flame patterns on it and she wore a crimson shawl and shoulder orange gloves length fingerless gloves that went down to five black rings on her fingers, fingers that had ended in crimson claws, the outfit was finished with orange stockings that she disappeared under crimson knee high heeled boots.
When the purple energy was gone from where Rose had been a new figure was revealed.   She wore a green dress that went down to her mid-thighs. Beyond that, she wore green pantyhose and jade green high heels.   The upper part of the dress went to her shoulders and she had on shoulder armor with three small white open flowers pointing forward, and around both her wrists were magenta-colored wood rings.  Her face had on jade lipstick, green eyeshadow and there was a green gem on her forehead.
The Liberty had also been transformed into a crimson pirate ship, it had a mast at the center of the ship, and the single sail had three speakers built into it in a triangle formation.  The ship had four strange contraptions on the deck, they looked like cannons but they had speakers where the mouths would be, and at the front of the ship was a black wood figurehead in the shape of an angel with broken wings and animal ears on its head with a head consisting of a maw that took up the entire face.
“Shall we handle the monsters before the heroes Princess Flora?” What had been Juleka asked as she raised a hand and pointed it at one of the Fishmen before a ball of fire formed alongside her hand and shot at it.   The Fishman screamed as the flames hit and cooked it, steam rising from it as it fell.
“My dear Lady Blaze, I think we should,” Princess Flora said clenched her hands and vines shot out of the river and grabbed one of the River Krakens and threw it at the other one sending both of them crashing into the river.
Captain Hardrock just laughed as she stood at the steering wheel, grinning as she locked eyes with Giles as the speakers set in the sail suddenly sent a blast of pure sound at the River Krakens, sending them flying through the air and landing on the opposite shore, missing Giles by a foot, Giles only glared back at her, watching as five of the skeletons ran about the Liberty fighting his Fishmen still on board as the one in the hat stayed by Captain Hardrock to protect her.
“What foul pacts have these fools made?!  What price did they pay for aid from devils?   To turn against the Angel serving Joan at God’s command!   Oh my Joan, once you’re safe and healed we will liberate our nation!” Giles proclaimed as he looked at his two monsters and sent a blast of magic at them that energized them and they roared and shot at the Liberty.
The heroes and Luka had been forced to the staircase as more of the Fishmen came out of the river, only the Liberty dropping off five of the skeletons
“What do we do now?” Pegasus asked as his Miraculous beeped, the others looking at the battle as they all fell back, Ladybug and Chat Noir at the rear and spinning their weapons, Ladybug gritted her teeth and looked at Giles.  The fact that he could control those monsters made a lot of things risky, and they didn’t know the rate he could make more.
“Pegasus, fall back and recharge, don’t use the underground!  Chat Noir help the civilian out of here Dragon girl……” Ladybug began before a roar caused them to look at the river as a third River Kraken appeared.
Ladybug looked at the scene still spinning her yoyo and nodded.  “ Dragon….”
“Arashiko,” Arashiko said and Ladybug nodded.
“Arashiko, go help Carapace, wait until Chat Noir and Pegasus get back with help and tell Carapace to make a large bowl, then once Pegasus makes a portal wind dragon to carry all the Fishmen into it,” Ladybug said as everyone nodded and then she looked at Luka. “Chat Noir, don’t forget to get that civilian out of here before you meet up with Viperion, and stay out of sight of the media!”
“Got it m’lady!  Come on Luka!” Chat Noir said as he looked at Ladybug and when they nodded at each other Chat Noir grabbed Luka and pole vaulted away as Pegasus jumped to a roof and dashed over the rooftops away from the river in another direction from Chat Noir and Luka.
Back with the heroes, Ladybug and Arashiko charged the bridge, Ladybug stopping to fight with them as Arashiko ran past her to fight with Carapace.  She lunged and sank her sword into one of the Fishmen Carapace was fighting and threw it into the other five he was fighting.
Back with Ladybug, she and Apisera were punching and kicking, waiting for their teammates to come back so they could try and do their plan.
“SO! That Joan he mentioned. Was it the Joan?” Apisera asked as she threw a Fishman into another one as she and Ladybug fought side by side.
“Fight now girl, talk at base!” Ladybug said as she spin kicked a Fishman and lassoed another to use as a frail.

“…… and I repeat, after a human hatched from a fleshy egg carried by the large creature that paralyzed people, an Akumatization of three people and the transformation of a boat has happened!   The Akumas are attacking the monsters, proving to this reporter that whatever they are, Hawkmoth has nothing to do with them!”  Nadja Chamack’s voice from a phone was the only thing that the people crowded around it as people at the pool waited for the lockdown to lift so they could go to their homes or other shelters.
“What are those things?” A male teen swimmer asked in horror as everyone listened and watched in horror.
“Could this be a super villain from outside the city? A girl in a one-piece swimsuit with black hair asked in horror prompting terror to fill the eyes of the swimmers.
“I’ve never heard of anyone who can do this, have you?” A senior citizen asked aloud and most people muttered no.
“No, and somebody with those things would have been heard of by now, I mean right?” Another swimmer asked the group and they fell into quiet discussions.
Kim stood at the edge of the crowd with Undine, both of them in their street clothes.   They had been about to go to lunch when the lockdown had happened, the operator of the Swimming pool closed the shutters, locking everyone there inside.   When the Akuma Lockdown law was passed, it was supposed to keep people safe, but in government buildings, it called for a headcount of all the people there, and the pool’s supervisor followed it to the teeth.   He was standing guard at the doors and since he had seen Kim first, he couldn’t escape to help the others.
Ondine was just as worried, she knew Bolla was mad they were stuck here.  All she could do was meet up with the heroes tonight and hope they weren’t backed by the Guardians, the stories Bolla had told her, she just couldn’t believe that Ladybug and the other heroes were those kinds of people.
“Looks like we won’t be able to get out of here soon, hu Kim,” Ondine said, looking around as she tried to find anything that might let her escape the building.
“Yeah, I’ve been here before the supervisor kept us here a half-hour after,” Kim said and shrugged at Ondine’s look.   “What, the guy is
Bolla was within Ondine’s purse, and she was looking at Ondine’s phone, more specifically the view from the news camera in the helicopter overlooking the battle.  Bolla was of the Sea, and the monsters she had fought when the spirits were free were nothing like this!    None of the others ever told of anything that even looked like either of the two species the others were fighting!   She wondered what they hadn’t known back then, and what the price had been to gain such knowledge.
“No way for that man to let us leave is there? In case the battle comes this way of course,” Ondine said hurriedly and Kim looked at her and nodded after a few moments.
“No, no way.   There’s only one way out of here, most of this place is made of concrete so the fire marshal was okay with only one exit/entrance I guess,”  Kim said and Ondine nodded as they listened to the others talk about villains and heroes.   Kim’s eye looked towards the locked door, he was sure if he could get away and transform he could get out of here but that would raise more questions, questions that he didn’t want to answer at all.  Sorry guys, I only hope that you can handle this without my help.  I need to find a new pool, a manager who handles the Akuma Lockdown really would be a lot better for my future.  He thought as he sighed and shook his head.
He couldn’t know that Ondine was thinking the same as he was.   She knew that her new responsibility meant changes, but this wasn’t one she had thought was needed, guess she was wrong.
A commotion from the door caused them all to turn and see the supervisor, a tall man with glasses, slick black hair and he was wearing a green suit.  He was chaining up the doors.  After he was finished he clapped his hands and nodded before turning around and blinked as he saw everyone looking at him.  “What?”
“What the hell are you doing!?” One of the crowd growled and the supervisor only looked at him with a deadpanned expression.
“Those things aren’t caused by Hawkmoth, ergo Ladybug might not be able to fix this.   So I’m protecting this place no matter what you all say about it,” The supervisor said bluntly, and that seemed to make most of the people wince and look away.
“But don’t worry! There is an emergence exit in the employee area, if we need to evacuate then I will lead you all into that area and you will not be in danger!” The supervisor said and Kim and Ondine looked around, trying to find where the door might be and how to slip out.
As Ondine looked around the room, trying to figure out where the door that led to the only other way out was.  But the more she tried to figure it out, she suddenly figured out the one other problem she had, Kim.   She knew he would try and find her, and she didn’t want to tell him about Bolla.   He was a great guy, but he would want to get involved and she couldn’t let that happen, he might get hurt and ruin his chances to compete professionally.
Kim meanwhile tried to think up an excuse to slip away; but first, he would need to go to the bathroom, then send Xuppu out to scout out how to find the door out...  But he knew that Ondine would look for him, and he didn’t have an idea on how to not let her know, the best thing he could do was just wait.   He read the comics, if he told Ondine about it then she would get involved no matter what they wanted, and he couldn’t let that happen to her.
As the two of them stood there, both wondered how they could get away alone without the other wondering where they were, while the crowd around the phone looked down at it, waiting to see what would happen.

Chat Noir dropped into an alley and let Luka down.  As he stepped back and looked at him with a raised eyebrow, Luka knew what he had been brought here for.   He wondered how Chat Noir knew who he was, but that was something that he could deal with after his family was safe.   But as he stood there he thought about what happened when the Monsters attacked, and he knew he had to ask Sass something as soon as he appeared.
“So is this the part where you ask for my help?” Luka asked and Chat Noir grinned and held up a Chinese box wordlessly.  Luka said nothing as he took it, as he opened it, a ball of light formed above it and Sass appeared, ginning at Luka who grinned back.
“Greetings hatchling, it has been a while,” Sass said and crossed his arms as he looked at Luka.   “And I can tell that you have a question that you need answered.”
“Yeah Sass, I…….. is there a way to change the harp?” Luka asked and Sass nodded as Chat Noir looked on.   “It’s just, those things out there, they have to be fought at range.  And a different weapon would be a lot better for me.”
“Good call and yes it can.   The harp may become a bow, and it fires a mana arrow.  It has a range of about 100 feet, and if you form the arrow on multiple strings from the back of the bow back, the arrow is stronger.  Be warned, the more strings used the longer it will take the next arrow to form,” Sass said and Luka frowned.
“How long is the wait?” Luka asked as his mind went over the ways he would need to use his weapon with this limitation.
“For the first string, none. For the 2nd string, 30 seconds and all three will equal a full minute until your next arrow.   The arrows can pull things towards you or pull you towards what you hit.  You must judge the battle and how it will be affected by your actions, as all true Snakes must,” Sass said as Luka grinned and put the Snake Miraculous on.
“I will.  Sass scales slither!”  Luka said, prompting Sass to shoot into the Miraculous.    With a flash of light, Luka transformed into Viperion.   As his deep green, dark cyan, yellow, brilliant opal, and dark turquoise bodysuit appeared on him, a green harp formed in front of him that he grabbed and pressed a button on the center of it and it turned into a bow with three strings as a brilliant opal and turquoise-ish gray mask with fangs at the end appeared over his eyes as they changed color to jade green.
Viperion looked at his bow and drew back the closet string to him and an energy arrow formed and he shot it upwards.  It landed on the roof and he grabbed it and started to run up the side of the building, jumping forward and landing on the roof as Chat Noir landed next to him.
“Let’s go and save the others, we have to hurry!” Chat Noir said and Viperion nodded.
“Yeah, I’ll find a place to look over the whole scene, once I get into position and Ladybug says go I’ll start Second Chance,” Viperion said as he fell into step behind Chat Noir as they ran towards the battle.

Shadow Moth looked at what Optigami sent back and scowled at what he was seeing.   He had told Enhancetress to get a better view of Giles and the more they saw and heard, the more he didn’t understand.   He knew that he had never heard of someone like him before, but where did he come from?
As he watched the four heroes fight against the monsters, he knew now that the Seven’s offer was needed, this proved it.  If all the Miraculous the other side had were set against them, then they needed something to even the odds or give them an edge.   With the key they had from the Seven, they were able to translate the Guardians book. Well, not the Seven themselves but their Miraculous, that was what he needed.   If they didn’t uncover something that could help them, then besides how he might feel for them giving them how to heal Nathalie and repair the Peacock, he might have to make plans to take the Seven’s Miraculous, and with how they were hiding something from them that wasn’t too far beyond his shaky morals.
He looked at Enhancetress as she looked down at something on Nathalie’s phone and tried to figure out what she was looking for.
After a few moments, she gasped loudly and Shadow Moth looked up and saw her staring at her phone in shock.
“What is it?!” Shadow Moth demanded and Enhancetress looked up at him slowly.
“Gabriel……… there is one thing that connects to ‘Joan’ ‘Giles’ and ‘Betrayal’…… Joan of Arc,” Enhancetress said dumbly and Shadow Moth looked at her in shock.
“He…… Joan was a Ladybug….. Joan was a Ladybug!”  Shadow Moth said with a grin as he started to laugh.
“Sir!?” Enhantress asked and she started to wonder if he was having a breakdown.
“Joan was killed; it’s possible to defeat a Ladybug!” Shadow Moth said as he grinned.  This made everything better, even her Luck Charm could be beaten, his opponent was a human after all…….. Shadow Moth blinked and stood there as a weight seemed to be lifted from him, something that he hadn’t even known was there.  With the reality that Ladybugs could be defeated, something that he had started to think was impossible beyond his thoughts, he felt stronger than ever, with the key from the Seven, he soon know everything the Guardians knew, and he would become even stronger!   Even this Giles, one day he will take all his secrets and make them his own, and he would keep growing even stronger!

As the transformed Liberty fired another blast at the River Kraken Lady Blaze shot a blast of fire and baked a Fishman, killing it as she laughed.
Before the bridge with Ladybug, Apisera looked down at the river as she panted and tried to catch her breath.   “So think Jules has some anger issues?”
“Yeah, maybe, she has depths you know,” Ladybug said before a beeping from her yoyo came a moment before her earbud chirped.
“M’lady, Viperion is finding a place to watch everything.   Me and Pegasus are inbound, we’ll be there in seconds.  Ready for the plan!”  Chat Noir’s voice caused Ladybug to smirk.
“Good!  Carapace get away from the river, Pegasus go with him, Chat Cover for Carapace!   Once you’re out of sight of the river, Pegasus make a portal with the other end at the bridge for Arashiko to send all of the Fishmen into with Water.  Carapace make a dome once Pegasus is done, Arashiko use Wind to get back through the portal and go recharge out of sigh.  Once Viperion activates his power, we wait 30 seconds then go!” Ladybug said and the others all nodded.
Chat Noir and Pegasus landed by the girls and dashed past them, running over the bridge.  As soon as they reached Carapace he turned and ran, Pegasus following behind him.   As Chat Noir attacked the Fishmen, he smirked as Arashiko slashed down with her blade, tearing off a Fishman’s arm only for the limb to shrivel up and turn to dust as a new limb grew from the wound’s pus.
“Second Chance!” Viperion’s voice came over the comms and then a moment later.  “ABORT, ABORT!  If Arashiko touches a single covered civilian even in Water or Air-form she’ll be stuck too! And Giles is about to turn a cat into a monster to attack his side of the river, Pegasus, Carapace it doesn’t dry out, you need to hold it there!”
Giles had grabbed a black stray cat that was moving along the river and looked at it before grinning. He held it in his right hand and in his left three orange spheres of energy formed before he forced them into the cat, the feline screaming in pain as he did so.  As the cat started to glow he threw it upward and it landed on the ground, growing until it was eight feet tall, and it had grown a second head, both of the head’s mouths had grown downward saber fangs on the outward side.   It roared and ran at Arashiko and Chat Noir before an energy arrow hit its rightmost eye.
Ladybug looked towards it and saw Viperion firing another arrow, this time at Giles who dodged the blast only for a blast of sound from the Liberty to hit him and send him flying against the wall under the bridge.
As the cat monster yowled as pus fell from its eye Chat Noir looked at it and realized that this newer monster wasn’t regenerating.   “The new one, it doesn’t heal!”
As a River Kraken blocked the Liberty’s attacks, Giles got up and scowled.  He knew that his fast creation wouldn’t have a long life, but he needed something to take the interlopers' attention while he figured out how to save Joan!   He leaned against the wall and went still as he felt metal, turning he saw grating and an insect hive, grinning as he saw a rat fighting off some bees.   He sent a black energy blast at the rat from his right hand and from his left came a white glow that covered the bees, as the other River Kraken broke the grating, letting him into the sewers.

Lila’s Karen Moment
This is a story that I’ve been kicking around for a while, thinking of Lila having a moment where she’s in a bad mood and takes her anger out on someone, not knowing that the person is closely connected to her classmates. And... I just love writing “Lila gets exposed” stories. Warm-Fuzzies and please enjoy!!
Most of the class knew about Max’s cousin, Nick. They had been raised in the same apartment building and absolutely adored each other. Although Nick was a couple years older, he had been diagnosed with autism when he was four years old. Which wasn’t to say he was slow, just a little different. Mostly, Nick was shy and wouldn’t talk to people he wasn’t familiar with. He had a hard time looking people in the eye and didn’t understand social cues.
Still, the class, at least those who had grown up around him, knew just how sweet and caring he was; and how open he could be with people he knew. Kim and Alix would include him in their races, knowing how much fun he had running with them. Nathaniel would do drawings of Nick as a superhero, saving the day and protecting Max, which always put a smile on his face. Nino had a playlist with a bunch of show tunes, Nick was a big fan of Phantom of the Opera and Fiddler on the Roof. Marinette taught him how to do paper folding when they were younger, and he soon became better at it than she was. Even Chloe had a soft spot for Nick after he had bashfully given her a rose made of gold paper and said she was a ‘pretty princess’.
But none of the class cared as much as Max. He would go over to his cousin’s apartment every day in the morning to make sure he got up. Tell him stories about the class and show Nick pictures. Heck, one of the reasons he had invented Markov was to create someone to be a companion for Nick, so he would never be alone. Nick had a tendency to wander off when he was bored or saw something interesting. The few times Max, his mom, or Nick’s parents had lost sight of him; they had gone into total panic attacks. Only for Nick to find his way back to them a few hours later. If Nick had a little companion robot like Markov, it would be a lot safer for him.
So, when Max's aunt asked him if he could have an activity day with Nick, he was all for it. When he told the class, they decided to have a picnic for Nick. They had all been busy lately, it had been a while since they last saw him.
It was a beautiful day at the park. Nino had a full playlist ready to go, along with new songs from Hamilton and Six, he had a feeling Nick would like Haus of Holbein. Marinette had brought all his favorite pastries and a couple new ones he might like, making sure they were organized by size. Even Chloe had come, having Sabrina bring a ream of multicolored paper, perfect for folding.
As soon as Max, Nick, and Markov arrived, there were good vibes all around. Kim and Alix raced laps with him around the fountain until Kim tripped and fell into the water; big smile from Nick. When No Way played, Nick had Nino put it on repeat over and over until everyone was singing it. When Rose and Juleka got there, they had been running late; Nick came behind the goth and started braiding her hair. He loved touching her hair and had done this many times before. Rose would always watch carefully and would gently tell him if he pulled too much.
Nick was in the middle of creating an entire boutique of paper flowers when the akuma alert went off. Alarms were always too much for Nick and before anyone could stop him, he had covered his ears and ran down the sidewalk. Markov followed as best as his little propeller would let him, but fell behind.
Even as the swarm of magical ladybugs swept across the sky a few minutes later, signaling the end of the attack, Nick didn't slow down. He only stopped after he ran head first into a familiar girl wearing twin ponytails and an orange blazer. Both teenagers fell to the ground with Nick cowering and quietly apologizing, while Lila glared at the boy. Markov, to his credit, recognized her expression as hostile and began recording in case something happened. And boy, did it.
"You stupid, clumsy retard! What the hell are you doing?" Lila screamed as she stood over the cowering boy.
"I… I-"
*smack*
Nick curled into a ball on the ground, scared and in pain from the unexpected strike.
"Shut up, you don't get to talk. Retards like you aren't allowed to talk. How did you even get out of your ward? Things like you should be locked up since your parents weren't smart enough to drop you off a cliff."
*smack*
Another cry and Lila kicked him out of the way with her boot, grumbling as she walked off that her outfit got dirty and scuffed. Not once did she bother to look up and see Markov hovering above them. The little robot stopped recording and floated down to comfort Nick while sending their coordinates to Max.
Ten minutes later, the class and Max were gently leading his cousin back to the park. He was shocked and angry to see the bruises and nail marks on Nick's cheek. The marks meant that they weren't the result of the akuma attack. Those would have been healed by the miraculous cure. This would have been done by someone else after the initial attack. Marinette had rushed home to grab a medical kit while the others did their best to cheer Nick up. It wasn’t until Marinette got back that Markov was able to get everyone's attention.
"Max, I was able to record the interaction that resulted in your cousin’s injuries. Including the identity of his attacker. Would you like to see it?"
After Nick was properly distracted by Marinette and Nathaniel showing him a new paper folding technique, and moving a small distance so he wouldn't hear, Markov played it. The class looked on in absolute shock and disgust as they watched their "friend" verbally and physically attack one of the kindest, sweetest people they knew.
After watching it a second time, to convince themselves that it really was Lila, they went ballistic! Nino was on the phone with Alya, telling her what he'd just seen. Max was angry-dialing his aunt and mother to tell them what happened, Markov had already forwarded the video to his email to send to the adults. Rose and Juleka displayed a surprising amount of strength as they kept Kim and Alix from hunting Lila down themselves. Sabrina had called her father to report the assault. Chloe was also on the phone with her father, demanding that he have the Rossi family kicked out of Paris immediately.
~oOo~
Lila was beyond annoyed by the time she stomped into her family's apartment. First, her akumatization failed and she was turned back to normal after just a few minutes. That mangy cat even had the audacity to compare her to the fanatic bird guy. Then she got knocked down by some pathetic boy who couldn't even apologize right. She was so angry that she ended up slapping him a couple times before kicking him out of the way. And, just her luck, her phone got damaged from the fall.
When she got home, she barely made the effort to wave at her mom in the kitchen before going to her room. After changing into a new outfit, Lila took a few minutes to think up a good story as to how her phone was damaged and reasons why she needed the newest model to replace it. When she heard her mom talking to someone, she figured she was talking to her father over Zoom. He was back at his school in Italy. Maybe she could convince him to side with her for a new phone.
However, she was met by two police officers that greeted her by name. Lila didn't get the chance to say anything before the men were arresting her for assault. Her cries went to deaf ears as she was taken away with her mother following them to the station. Even there, she had no chance to spin her lies as her mother and lawyer kept telling her to shut up. The only times they demanded she speak were to questions she didn't want to answer.
Why did you hit a stranger who accidentally knocked you down?
Silence.
You were akumatized? How could you not tell me?
Silence.
How are you already back to normal? You told me how those useless, fake heroes take weeks to defeat a single akuma.
Not so silent.
It was the police that indignantly corrected Greta Rossi that time. For a few minutes they were going back and forth while Lila stewed between the four angry adults. She really wished that an akuma would come to her, but none came. Unknown to her; Ladybug, Chat Noir, Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Pegasus were all camped out on the surrounding buildings to keep that from happening. They'd already spotted and caught three butterflies.
Eventually, Lila was released into the custody of her mother, but was warned that they should expect to be contacted with a court date very soon. The entire way home, Greta was yelling and berating her daughter for not only physically and verbally attacking someone who accidentally bumped into her, but lying about the akuma situation. She already planned on personally escorting Lila to school on Monday to have an in depth discussion with her teacher and principal. Lila pleaded with her mother to just listen to her, but Greta wasn't about to fall for any more of her daughter's lies.
~oOo~
Monday turned out to be even worse for Lila with all her diseases and attendance issues coming out during the meeting at school. As well as the incident with Marinette. She tried to cry and tell her side of the story; but her mother, the principal, or Marinette would contradict her with facts. This left more lies exposed, giving her another six months of being grounded without an allowance, and the possibility of an expulsion from school.
Marinette was soon excused back to class. Lila was formally suspended for three weeks, would have to finish the school year with her class, and then repeat the academic year. If she wasn't expelled, that is. Lila was in tears as she pleaded with the two adults, begging them to just give her detention and summer school instead of holding her back a year. It didn't work.
Eventually, Lila was sent out of the room and left sulking in the hallway. It was just her luck that Max, Nathaniel, and Kim were going to the library to work on a research paper. The three boys scowled at her, she didn't bother to hide her glare today. When they stopped close to her, she sneered harder.
"What do you freaks want?" She snapped.
*SMACK*
Lila cradled her reddening cheek in shock. The other two boys were just as surprised as they stared at Max as he casually adjusted his glasses.  "I would like to state that under normal circumstances, I would never strike another person. I prefer to fight my battles with intelligence and wit rather than my fists." Then his lens glinted, giving him a menacing look. "But then you attacked my cousin. You hit him, called him disgusting names, and then kicked him out of the way like garbage."
Lila sputtered in shock for a moment before snarling at the boy. "Like that even matters. I'll get you expelled for hitting-"
"I can guarantee you that I will never face any consequences for what I just did." Max said, walking forward as he spoke and forcing Lila to back into the wall. "You have already been exposed as a liar, so no one will believe you. The cameras for this hallway are currently malfunctioning. I have no record of violence, ever. And I have witnesses that will support that I never laid a finger on you. If you tried to tell anyone, there's a 99.874% chance that they would say you're lying."
Kim shrugged as he looked at the two of them. "I didn't see anything."
Nathaniel looked surprisingly smug as he said, "I bet she made it up as a way to get back at the family that's suing her. Even the mark on her face, I bet she did it to herself. And it's not the first time she faked an injury to get someone in trouble."
Leaning even closer, and despite being several centimeters shorter than her, Lila felt very belittled by the boy. Since when was Max this intimidating?
"Consider this your first, last, and only warning. If you ever try to hurt my family or friends again, I will ruin you. You don't need to answer me now, I'll be watching."
Then, the three of them walked away, like they hadn't just threatened her! Like she was nothing to them! Just like… like she'd done to Marinette. Gritting her teeth, Lila wanted nothing more than to go after those boys and destroy them!
In the span of a single weekend, Max had been able to record her without her knowledge. Got her arrested for assault. Fired from Gabriel since the brand couldn’t be associated with someone who beat an autistic boy. Suspended from school, likely expelled. And most of her lies were exposed to her mother. Still, she wasn't about to let some nerd with no fashion sense get the best of her!
Lila was trying to decide the best way to get her revenge when her mother came stomping out of the principal's office. Cursing at her in rapid Italian the entire time, Greta dragged Lila out of the school. All the way home she tried to tell her mother about Max slapping her just outside the office and how they tormented her, saying that no one would believe her.
"Will you stop, already?" Greta screamed at her daughter, catching Lila by surprise. "What makes you think, after everything you've done, that I would believe anything you say?"
"But-"
"No, I am done listening to your lies. Even if some stranger came up to me and said you stole their soul from them, I would believe that person over you."
"I'm not lying! Look! Max left a mark where he slapped me!" She screamed back, pointing at the slightly red cheek.
"After what Marinette told me, it wouldn't surprise me if you did it to yourself as a way to try and get out of trouble."
"But, Mom!"
"I don't want to hear it!"
Lila couldn't believe it, the one time she was telling the truth and her own mother didn't believe her… just like Max said. After arriving back at their apartment, Lila was put on house arrest. She would be forced to study under a very strict tutor until the suspension and trial were finished. After that, she would be sent back to Italy where she would be attending the naval military school where her father, Ciro Rossi, was the vice principal. And no amount of begging, pleading, or tears would change Greta's mind.
Bonus:
Once Max, Kim, and Nathaniel were out of sight, the smallest boy nearly collapsed to his knees in shock. He couldn't believe he just did that. He actually hit and threatened someone! Kim was patting his shoulder, assuring him that he'd been very intimidating. Nathaniel looked just as surprised by what he'd done, but far more accepting.
"Do you think she bought it?" Max asked, a slight tremor in his voice.
"I would have, you were really believable," nodded the red head.
"Yeah, you were scary, man. I'm so proud of you." Kim noogied his head.
Pushing the larger boy off of him, he gave Kim a smile before they went back to their project. He didn't like how he acted, even towards a terrible human being like Lila Rossi. But for Nick, he'd do it again.

CHANGING FACES Chapter 3: Where Are We Going
[ Prefer to Read on Archive of Our Own? Link HERE! ]
[ Previous Chapter - Next Chapter ]
I hope you enjoy  reading this work and have fun with me on this journey. )
CHAPTER 3:
Where Are We Going
Marinette felt tired. Not the kind or tired that could be slept off but something DEEPER. It was an exhaustion that seeped deep into her bones and left her feeling heavy. Her limbs felt like rocks and her fingers ached. Her mind begged for the sweet escape of dreamless sleep. Yet voices tickled the edge of her conscious mind slowly leading her back to the waking world. Whoever was talking was trying to be considerate of her, speaking in hushed tones with all the lights but a small table lamp off.
Blinking slowly, Marinette’s groggy mind took in the hideous pattern on the hotel's cheap curtains and the smell of cheap greasy takeout pizza somewhere in the room. Finally her ears seemed to pop and the whispered voices of her mother and father hit her brain causing her muscles to relax. They were here, they were all safe, as Marinette’s eyes drooped she smiled contently ready to let her mind drift away to the black seas of sleep once more. That is until she heard Tikki’s signature squeaky voice thanking ‘Tom’ for the sugar cookies. All at once Marinette felt wide awake and bolted upright, shocking everyone in the room into silence.
There on the other side of the hotel room sitting in the too small, too cheap wooden chairs eating cheap pizza and terrible store bought sugar cookies and holding a conversation like old friends was Marinette’s dear parents, her kwami and Trixx who looked like they were delighted by everything.
The silence stretched for a moment or two before Sabine sighed, shook her head and smiled warmly at her daughter.
“I think we have some things to talk about mon petite choux, but first why don’t you grab a bite to eat you must be hungry and its going to be a bit of a late night.”
At her mothers words Marinette felt her breath hitch as she swallowed down her panic, with a small nod she inched closer to the end of the bed nervously taking the offered slice of pepperoni pizza. It was lukewarm and greasy but biting into it felt like heaven as her body finally registered just how hungry she was, as usual her mother was right. For a while Marinette just ate her pizza with her parents while the Kwami nibbled on their provided cookies. It was strange and peaceful. As Marinette finished up her second slice and reached for her third the silence was finally broken again by her mother who seemed to know what she said while her father still languished in uncertainty.
“Marinette… We… We just want you to know. How proud of you we are.”
Marinette swallowed hard and looked away, unable to make eye contact with her family.
“H-How did you figure it out? Kwami can’t tell others who there chosen are a-and… I thought- at least Fu told me that magic was protecting my identity?” Marinette heard her father’s nervous throat clearing as Tikki swallowed down her cookie and hovered up to Marinette eye level.
“They figured it out earlier after you fell asleep, Marinette. I let them see me and told them who I was. It all seemed to fall into place after that.”
“But…Tikki WHY? T-The rules w-we cant just… Have… Have I not been a good enough Ladybug? Are you leaving?”
Tikki gasped in horror and flew over quickly soothing Marinette by hugging her face.
“No, no! My little bug it's nothing like that I… I decided you needed some help. Marinette you have been doing such a good job and you have been doing it all alone for so long. Master Fu was foolish to think anyone could or should carry such a heavy burden without support and we should have broken the rules a long time ago!”
Marinette nodded numbly trying to process Tikki’s words. She did not want to admit it but she’d been drowning for so long that as horrible as it felt to have her identity exposed as terrifying as it was to go against the rules she felt relief flooding her system as she exhaled a shaky breath.
“How much did you tell them?” At this her father let out an awkward cough and shifted in his far too small hotel chair trying to get comfortable.
“She told us a lot. Marinette sweetie… We're not mad. We could never be mad, you’ve been so strong and so brave, your mother is right, we are so proud of you.”
Marinette felt her face flush and her eyes burn as hot tears gathered in her burning tired eyes. She had never once become Ladybug for the praise or fame she had never expected or wanted it, and in fact she had many times resented being Ladybug hated the lies and the act she had to put on each and every day to keep others safe and to keep them out. But hearing her parents tell her how proud they were felt like a weight being lifted off her heart. A broken hiccup left her body and Marinette realized she was crying.
“M-Mom Dad… I’m- I'm so sorry! I n-never wanted to lie I-I had to I-I’m sorry im so so sorry.”
“Oh non! No no no my little one my sweet pastry!” Marinette felt the warm heavy arms of her father envelop her as he moved to the bed, the cheap mattress dipping under his weight causing her to fall into him. “You don’t need to apologize for anything.”
“Your friend Tikki told us about the rules the previous master put in place. She told us about everything you have been through. Our big strong girl. If anyone should be sorry it's us. We should have known it was you, even with magic guarding your identity how could we be so blind.”
Marinette sobbed harder at her mothers words, opening her arms to accept her mothers embrace as she cried harder.
“B-But I’m the reason Hawkmoth burned down our home! I’m the reason the bakery is gone! I-Its all my fault!”
Marinette felt her mother stiffen at her words and was shocked when her mother pulled back and grabbed her face firmly into her calloused hands forcing Marinette to stare into the fiery eyes of her mother.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng none of this is your fault! That reject Disney villain has been tormenting Paris for years! He has killed people with his akumas and never once shown remorse or guilt for using even babies to achieve his goals! And you, our brave beautiful girl, you have saved people's lives over and over, you have given up hobbies, concerts, and your own peace of mind to be a hero. Your father and I are scared for you, were angry at Hawkmoth, we wish we knew sooner but angry? Never, not with you my beautiful little peanut.”
As her mothers words sunk in, Marinette felt a fresh wave of tears fill her eyes and she threw herself into her mothers arms while her fathers large warm hand rubbed circles into her back.
They let Marinette cry until she was done and had her breathing back under control at which point they gave her water and more food. While she drank and ate, a sudden thought hit Marinette.
“What are we going to do now?”
Tom and Sabine exchanged a look before nodding and smiling at each other. As Sabine got up to retrieve something from there meager belongings Tom beamed warmly at his daughter though Marinette did not miss the tired bags that hung under his eyes.
“Did we ever tell you about how we met my little choux bun?”
Marinette’s eyebrows creased together as she thought about it.
“You met… At college right? Dad was doing a baking course and mom was studying business. Mom had been working herself too hard and not eating so her blood sugar totally crashed and you found her half collapsed on a bench and offered her pastries right?”
Tom chuckled fondly at the memory and nodded.
“Yes, that's right. But do you know WHERE we met?”
“Where? … Dad, what do you mean? Wait… You didn’t meet in Paris?”
Sabine giggled at her daughter's shocked expression and sat next to her once more, opening the old family album that had been lucky to survive the fire in a fireproof safe. As she flipped through the pages Marinette took in all the familiar pictures of herself and her family, the bakery, and her childhood from her first time making cookies to her first tooth, but as they flipped to older pictures Marinette began to see more things she did not recognize. Her parents' marriage, a small private affair in some miscellaneous park. But then they flipped past even those going back to even younger images and Marinette realized quickly what her father was hinting at.
“These pictures… You guys met in… America?”
Sabine smiled warmly as she touched a picture of her and Tom’s first cake together. “We met in Gotham.”
Marinette sucked in a breath of air as her eyes widened. She looked between her parents' confusion and questions evident on her face. After a brief silence Sabine cleared her throat and flipped back to some older photos and began her tale.
“When I was little, your grandma had very big dreams for me. She wanted me to become a big shot business woman, make lots of money and take care of the whole family. She made me study endlessly and never cared about my own dreams and passions. Just like your great uncle I liked to cook but your grandma did not care. I worked hard and got accepted into an American college. I knew how dangerous Gotham was but I didn’t care. I just wanted to get far away from your grandma and your great uncle encouraged me. He told me I needed to free myself and learn what I wanted to do. The rest you know, I was studying so hard I never ate and then your dad found me.”
Marinette nodded slowly then looked at her dad curiously. He smiled and leaned over to flip the albums pages before pointing at a beautiful old building with a much younger Grandma Gina and Tom in front of it.
“As you know your Grandma Gina and Granpa Roland had a rocky marriage. Your grandma liked to go fast, and she liked to see the world and everything in it. Your grandpa thought moving that often wasn’t good for me so he refused to go, this made their relationship rocky, they were always fighting. Finally your god-father Alfred got in the middle, he suggested a compromise. A second home somewhere fun and exciting for Gina and we could spend our summers there. Grandma chose Gotham the same place Alfred lived and I spent my summers there growing up even after the divorce. So when it was time for me to go to college I decided I wanted to live in Gotham and attend the college baking course. And then I met your mother.”
Marinette mulled over the new information carefully taking in the photos carefully.
“How long did you and mom live there?”
Tom chuckled slightly and flipped through several pages until they landed on a photo Marinette had never seen before. She was a newborn baby in her mothers arms as her parents were posed in front of an old bakery. Marinette realized that it was the same building as the earlier picture with her grandma and her dad.
“I was… BORN THERE?” Marinette touched the image in awe and then felt a sting in her heart, “Why didn't you ever tell me? Why not talk about it? H-How did it never come up once when grandpa Alfred came to visit!?”
Sabine exchanged a look with Tom before she cleared her throat.
“We… Your father and I… We loved Gotham. It is a gloomy place with a lot of crime and problems but the people there are GOOD people. They protect their own, and they work hard to try and make their city better. It was the place where we met, the place we got married, and the place where we had you, our beautiful little girl. But…”
Marinette felt her stomach drop. “But?”
“It is dangerous there Marinette. And when you were still just a baby you and your mother got pulled into a bad attack, you both came out okay thanks to Batman but we realized then that our life wasn’t a safe one to raise a baby in.”
Sabine nodded gravely to her husband's words.
“Your father and I both knew how to defend ourselves. We even taught other people self defense on weekends at the local gym as volunteer work. But you were just a baby and we got scared about losing you. So we made the decision to abandon our lives in Gotham and come to Paris. We always told ourselves we’d go back to Gotham someday when you were older and until then we didn’t talk about it, not because we didn’t want to but because I wasn’t ready yet I got so scared remembering almost losing you and when we were finally ready to tell you and move back to Gotham you… Met Alya.”
Marinette blinked confused and furrowed her brows. “What does Alya have to do with this?”
“Well…” Sabine looked over at Tom who took over the conversation.
“You had been getting bullied by Chloe all those years. We were doing everything to get you out without pulling you from Dupont because we knew it was one of the best schools, but it wasn’t working. We saw how your confidence was dipping and how you were so unhappy so we thought that maybe it was time to make the move. You were 12 and knew how to defend yourself thanks to all your lessons with your mom and me. But then you came home from your first day of school and you were so happy.”
Sabine smiled fondly. “You had made a friend and you were talking about how excited you were, then you ran for your class president position and won and we saw how you were blooming and we could not take that away from you so we pushed Gotham aside.”
“But… But you both love it there?! Why would you do that why didn’t you tell me at least I-I don't understand-”
“We didn’t want you to make a decision for our sake.”
Marinette snapped her mouth shut, denial dying on her lips. She knew exactly what her parents were talking about. Since Lila had begun manipulating the class and having them ask more and more of her, Marinette had learned that she had a serious problem standing up for herself. If her parents had approached her wanting to move to Gotham when she was younger even with her Ladybug responsibilities she would have folded like a deck of cards and likely stretched herself thin trying to make everyone happy and do everything.
“We wanted you to have a choice about the move. And you have always been so caring and considerate of others and if you had known how much me and your father loved Gotham we knew you’d agree to move even if you didn’t want to. So we held off saying anything and we were just happy to see you become so confident and happy.” Sabine bit her lip and chewed at the loose skin. “Recently… We had seen how stressed you were becoming, and how your friends were treating you. Before all this happened we were planning on telling you again and asking you if maybe you’d like to move to Gotham, but now with everything… Well the conversation happened a bit sooner than we had planned. But what do you say Peanut? Wanna go on a new adventure and move to Gotham?”
Marinette nodded slowly and looked at Tikki and Trixx on the table who had been enjoying there cookies in relative silence the whole time.
“Tikki, what do YOU think?” At the name the small god blinked her antenna twitching.
“I think you need to be the one to decide Marinette this is your life, and you are our guardian. We trust you because you have always taken such good care of us all these years.”
Marinette flinched at Tikki’s words and dug her nails into her skin. She wanted to deny Tikki’s words but she knew the tiny god was speaking from the heart. Marinette often gave the kwami freedom, she talked with them, she was their friend and guardian and she valued them as people, something Tikki and the others had told her was rare so even though Marinette did not believe in herself she believed in the honesty behind Tikki’s words.
“I… I’ll need to use the horse Kwami Kaalki to travel back to Paris whenever an akuma happens.”
“That's not a problem, you have the same blood sugar problem as your mom so we can inform whatever new school you go to that you might need to leave class at times to take care of that.”
Marinette blinked, shocked at her dad's willingness to lie but then she snorted and smiled. It felt nice having someone to help her guard her secret identity.
“If Marinette leaves Paris Hawkmoth will stop suspecting me as Ladybug so that's a bonus, I’d be able to decompress after fights and let myself feel emotions without worrying about akumatization. I also won't have to worry about the bakery getting crushed by another toddler akuma.”
Tikki and her parents watched her in silence letting her talk herself through her thoughts and plan as she often did when processing her stress and fear.
“Gotham has some of the best schools, and I’d be living in Uncle Jagged city AND in grandpa Alfred’s city… But… But where will we live, how will we make money, and what about school and then there's Alya and everyone back home and what if Ladybug gets to Paris too late??”
Before Marinette could spiral further her mother took her hands and squeezed hard pulling Marinette out of her downward fall as she tools several deep breaths and focused on her mother who was guiding her through the breathing slowly.
“You don’t need to worry about all the details, Marinette. We still own the old bakery from the pictures, your father and I could never bring ourselves to sell it so we kept it. It will need a bit of paint and the Marinette touch but it's got good bones and it's a bigger building.”
“As for school, well… You may not know this but your godfather Alfred is the butler and in many ways the father and grandfather to a very rich and influential family He’s told us all about Gotham Academy and I know my beautiful incredible daughter will be a perfect fit.”
“Gotham Academy? Are you sure we can afford it? And don’t tell me your gonna have grandpa Alfred ask his employers for a favor! I don’t need or want the help of some rich people we don't know.”
Sabine laughed openly at Marinette's pouty face. “My daughter? Need a hand out? No, but Alfred has told us all about the scholarships there. You are as brilliant as you are talented even if it is a bit past the start of the school year I’m sure we can get you one and if not we will find another school that recognizes what a talent you are.”
Marinette’s cheeks flushed red at her mothers teasing proud words and she pulled nervously on her long dark hair as she bit her cheek and thought about it.
“What about… Alya and my friends? Moving it sounds so amazing, a fresh start, somewhere new, the ability to let myself feel, and the distance from Hawkmoth it all sounds incredible but… What if I lose everyone here?”
Tom squeezed his daughter's leg comfortingly and smiled at her warmly. “Do you think Alya and the others are the type of people who will just forget you?”
“... No… I trust Alya. It's… Someone else I don’t trust and I’m worried what that person will do.”
“You're talking about that Lila girl again aren't you?” Marinette nodded stiffly, leaning into her mother for comfort.
“If she hasn’t succeeded yet, then I don’t think you need to worry. BUT if she does succeed then painful as it may be you will learn who your real friends are, but what you need to decide now is where you trust Alya to be your friend even if you're across an ocean.”
Marinette took a moment to think, letting her mothers words hit her fully. Alya was her friend and despite all the damage Lila had done and all the problems shed created Marinette still cared about Alya and valued her friendship and she knew despite everything that Alya felt the same. They were bffs and for now Marinette was willing to trust in the bonds she’d made and believe that Alya would be there for her ocean or not.
Marinette took a deep breath and felt her heart and mind settle. She knew what was best now, for ladybug, for the kwami, for her family, for paris, but most importantly what would be best for herself and who she wanted to become moving forward.
Looking at her family, Marinette smiled warmly.
  “Gotham, sounds perfect.”

“Lila Rossi bashing” is such a funny ao3 tag. Like announcing that you’re gonna be treating an antagonist as an antagonist. Im gonna tag every fic that features an akuma as “Gabriel Agreste bashing”

Here’s more Favoritism AU stuff
The police have received many anonymous calls telling them that Marc has drugs in his locker at DuPont. An hour of searching later, they haven’t found anything, but due to his record caused by you-know-who, they usually come running any time his name is mentioned
It’s given Marc a reputation as a “badass criminal,” which is not what Marinette intended, but at least people think he’s capable of committing crimes
Nathaniel, Lila, Chloé, and Félix are trying to figure out which gym Marc does to so they can watch him work out
Nathaniel: *Staring at a map* Okay! I think I’ve narrowed it down! He’s at the one near the pool hall!
Félix: Ah, of course! It’s the one furthest away from the wretched shrew’s bakery!
Chloé: We’re so stupid! It makes perfect sense! It opens in ten minutes!
Lila: Let’s go see dem biceps!
Little do they know, he’s joined an underground fight club as an outlet for his anger
Marc barely flinches anymore when Marinette insults him. He honestly stopped caring about what she had to say when he was eight
Now he just listens to death metal on his AirPods whenever she talks
He actually threw a printer at Mme. Bustier after she compared him to his cousin. She dodged, unfortunately
Marc REFUSES to leave Kiran alone with Marinette for even a second, and he most certainly is not letting him play with any of the kids she babysits. Lord knows what poison she’s been feeding them
Carrie Powers AU ⬇️
Tumblr media
Discovered his powers when he was seven and a rock nearly hit Marinette
Marc does arson with his mind. There’s no evidence so no one can convince him
Lila’s the only one who knows about his telekinesis and being her chaotic neutral self, she convinces him to cause a little chaos around DuPont
So far he’s tripped Damocles, kept the lockers of Marinette’s lackeys permanently locked, tore up Marinette’s homework, and ruined Marinette’s outfits with paint
Lila: See? I told you revenge could be fun.
Marc: Okay, I stood corrected.
Lila: Yeah, you did. Now let’s flush some phones!

"Marinette is forgiving"
Yes, but not towards the two 14 year old assholes. But specifically forgiving to the.
Asshole that gave Hawkmoth all the miraculous, and then. Hawkmoth himself because?? Poor little man lost his wifey and he was oh sooo sad about it he had to terrorize all of Paris.
No yeah, definitely deserving of forgiveness.
I WONT SHUT UP ABOUT THIS PLOT POINT UNTIL ITS CHANGED IDC
You will NEVER convince me that Gabriel fucking Agreste or even fucking Felix are more deserving of forgiveness than Chloe and Lila.
I dont wanna hear SHIT.

Can I get a ML Salt Prompt? With a hint of Felinette.
There are things that Sabine Cheng doesn't like when it comes to her daughter well-beings. ︶ ⠀ ⤭ ⠀⠀ ๋࣭ ⭑ Caline Bustier treats her daughter as a servant doing the teachers job when its suppose to be her job to do it not her daughter. She heard complaints from her daughter at the trapdoor but also finding out that she is Ladybug and the Guardian of Miraculouses but she also knows that her daughter is MDC from the very start. ︶ ⠀ ⤭ ⠀⠀ ๋࣭ ⭑ Lila Rossi for targetting her daughter by manipulating the principal and her daughter's classmates she had decided to do something about before Caline Bustier. She had a hunch that this girl is trying to blame her daughter for something she didn't do it happen before when she was young. She depises bullies. ︶ ⠀ ⤭ ⠀⠀ ๋࣭ ⭑ Alya Cesaire treats her daughter as a doormat but also asking for free stuff even she told her mother to pay for it she doesn't do it. Yet she still wants free stuff like the designs that her daughter makes she did not like it one tiny bit. ︶ ⠀ ⤭ ⠀⠀ ๋࣭ ⭑ Adrien Agreste who seem to be a sweet boy but after her daughter told her the advice that he told her, she was not having it. She told this to Nathalie and Gabriel to discipline Adrien about this high road advice towards her daughter that is enabling bullies for no reasons even Gabriel is annoyed by that advice he had given it to Adrien but it was meant for Tabloid Reporters only but decided to do a different method for Adrien to get his high horse about this high road advice a method only for bullies. As soon as Gabriel realize that his son is on thin ice with the Dupain-Chengs he had to do something about it and possibly for Ms. Marinette Dupain-Cheng to be his future intern or Audrey. ︶ ⠀ ⤭ ⠀⠀ ๋࣭ ⭑ While Sabine decided to do something for her daughter happiness about Lila Rossi, Alya Cesaire, Adrien Agreste, and Caline Bustier they have crossed the line on the mama bear by poking it. Sabine only wants her daughter to be happy away from the toxic class and those so called friends who wanted to make her daughter as a doormat or a pushover by claiming that her daughter is a bully. Clearly she was not having it.
Sabine decided the big guns by calling her mother about the Cheng Family Company in two different branch one in Shanghai and the other in Beijing to be lent to her daughter as the heiress. But she needs her daughter to learn about the family business from her side. She called her mother about the DEAL that she made with her mother after marrying Tom Dupain.
She called one of her close friends in China by enrolling her daughter to Central Academy of Arts it was the same academy that she attended when she was young but this would be good for her daughter.
Marinette gets to be transferred to Central Academy of Arts in Beijing for her business as MDC but also for her family business too as she meets Felix Graham de Vanily along with her cousin Bridgette who is arrange marriage with another Chinese Branch Family who is the heir of CEO Long Company.
As for Chloe luckily for her she was taught Mandarin/Cantonese from Sabine Cheng she is now applying to Central Academy of Arts with Marinette away from the toxic school back in Paris that she convinced her father to stop the donating towards the Dupont for a good reason. As her father listen to his daughter's reason he was not happy about what happen when Chloe explain what exactly is happening in the school.
At the end Lila Rossi, Caline Bustier, Adrien Agreste, and Alya Cesaire got into a alot of trouble with the parents and the school board by the Mayor himself who had reported it with Sabine Cheng afterwards. The students of Caline Bustier well their parents got super pissed and decided to withdraw their children from the toxic school into a homeschool or a new school for a fresh start.
As for Nino well he apologize to Marinette before she transfer to China for her new school with Chloe Bourgeois but he still gets in trouble by his parents so he is at his new school to continue his dreams since his parents owns a Music Label Company.
The Police Officers and Roger found something at the CCTV footage in Dupont on the main part with Lila Rossi. Roger wasn't very happy with this girl being friend with his daughter after finding out this girl is working with a terrorist they did what they had to do is to arrest this girl Lila Rossi but also informing this to Nadja Chamack about it as well. Italy is in thick ice with Paris right now cause of Lila's actions. Lila's father is not happy nor her mother isn't. Lila's mother decided to disown her and fix her family honor from the embarrassment that her daughter made.
Caline got fired from the School Board for her silly methods and also enabling bullies too while Damocles gets demoted as a principal for doing his job horribly against School Board demands. But Damocles gets his redemption after realizing his mistakes but wanting to redeem it as a good principal like his brother was in from a different school.
Adrien well to him he didn't have any social skills due to his father abusing him so why not let Nino to be concerned about his well-being by calling the CPS on Gabriel clearly Nino wanted Adrien as his new brother along with Chris it would be alot helpful for him to gain social skills. Gabriel also fired Lila Rossi in person he was pissed when Chloe told him the truth about Lila sexually harrassed, blackmailing, and calling people of his son's classmates as a bad influence even if its Lila who is a bad influence to his son by some classmate of his son who sent it to him but seem to be on struggling with the CPS but decided to let it go.
Lastly Alya got the major hint of lawsuits by celebrities and Ladybug as her parents forced her to delete her Ladyblog down for posting false stories. But she has to pay the amount of money that she asked free things from Dupain-Chengs. Sabine already made a restraining order on Alya Cesaire, Adrien Agreste, and Lila Rossi for good just away from her daughter.
