watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.
like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.
#it’s just the. laura and travis’ characters always being supportive of one another when they’re facing hardship#taliesin and marisha consistently making characters who challenge one another and still protect each other relentlessly#all of them being so fond of ashley’s characters always and literally seeing them light up in c1 episodes when ash got to join in person#sam and liam always making characters who offer one another reprieves into kindness that they don’t always get in the campaign setting#liam making orym after falling in love with keyleth as vax#marisha making laudna after matt’s storytelling with delilah and choosing vex as her body double#ashley using ‘i would like to rage’ and matt having kord ask her where she finds her strength#laura and matt always weaving these deeply complicated and emotional interactions between a daughter and a father#the gasps and yells and clapping when matt makes cool sound effects or reveals a map or breaks/ends on a cliff hanger#them ending both campaign 1 and 2 with ‘what a great/nice story’ and travis saying ‘let’s do it again!’#and it’s like. yes yes i love the comics and i’m a fan of tlovm but . seeing this well produced thing that somehow mimics#the feeling i get sitting in my living room laughing with my roommates about my ranger’s giant rat failing to climb stairs#it’s very special it’s very sweet#critical role#sdcc 2023#taliesin jaffe#travis willingham#marisha ray#ashley johnson#liam o’brien#matthew mercer#laura bailey#sam riegel#cr cast#critical role cast#my posts

Arthur as Matt's parent is so funny because when discussing them with humans he's trying so hard to make them all sound respectable even now. And he fails.
One child can be discussed as a NASA engineer and astronaut, one is baked, one is a wildlife rehabilitation veterinarian and one is probably a neurosurgeon. Arthur's struggling so much like "He's a conch of a lad.... And plays hockey sometimes?"
Zero ambition. Mediocre Williams. His only goal is to get some sleep. The only high scores he has to his name are two kinds of body counts. He hasn't produced organic serotonin in 60 years. Yes, King, give us absolutely nothing. Fucking loser. I love him so much.

Your phone's alarm rang to wake you up as you sighed and rolled over to turn it off. You groaned, rubbing your eyes as you finally saw the time. “Shit!” You threw the covers off yourself and hurriedly got ready to go to set.
You had been filming for a new movie ‘Baseketball’ or something like that, and you had been lucky enough to book a nice size role. The only downside was having to be there at the crack of dawn to get makeup and hair done. As you scurried out the door to get downtown, you had dropped your script in the rush. Not even realizing it as you headed down the street, already a few minutes late.
Fortunately for you, the traffic had been light and the parking situation hadn’t been too terrible. You scampered to the makeup trailer, robing up and taking a seat. In the chair next to you was one of your co-stars “Hey, what’s up with being late? Long night?” Matt smirked and teased you, rolling your eyes at him in response.
“Yeah right, we were up till 3 am last night, be thankful I even came in.” You teased him back giggling a bit. The past few days on set, you’d been asked to film some intimate scenes with Matt, this often caused you to have to do multiple takes. Sometimes it would be you that would laugh and other times it would be Matt cracking in the scenes.
“Well, did you hear what we get to do today?” Matt leaned back in his chair as the makeup crew came in to apply foundation and fix his curls up. “No, what?” You raised a brow, getting your own hair done as he let out a mischievous chuckle. “The Hot Tub Scene.” Your face heated immediately after he spoke. “Oh God,” you sighed, cringing at the thought of being topless in front of everyone.
“Hey, we can figure something out if you don’t wanna.” He offered, genuinely trying to help. “Well, I don’t mind under the water.. but I don’t know about being seen by everyone.” You looked over at him, raising a brow. “Well, we can have you in a bikini top if you want and then you can take it off or not.” He shrugged, “I just wanna make sure you’re comfortable.” You smiled at his response and nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine with that.” You almost saw a pink forming on his own cheeks, but that might’ve been his makeup.
The tension felt thick as your conversation switched from talking about your scene to talking about your plans after work. After about an hour in the chair’s, the two of you headed to film. Matt walked off to go speak with Trey and other crew members as you entered the hottub, slowly sinking in and adjusting to the warmth. It was nice after having to be on your feet all day yesterday.
“Mind if I join you?” Matt sunk in next to you, scanning your face. His brows furrowed a little as he spoke again, “Are you sure you’re okay?” He smiled. “Of course.” You smiled back, reaching behind your neck as you undid your top.
“Oh shit!” He jokingly cheered, trying to hype you up as you blushed and rolled your eyes again. “Whatever, let’s get through with this.” You giggled, getting into position for the take. It was still a bit awkward but you were comfortable with Matt and trusted the production crew. You and Matt locked eyes again as you began the scene, his arms wrapped around your back, pulling you in for a kiss. You returned the affections, slightly sitting on his lap as he pulled away to speak to ‘Coop’. You bit your lip while he trailed more kisses on your neck and shoulders, half speaking.
“Cut!” The scene was called for a moment and you reset with Matt. “If I didn’t know any better I’d think you might actually like me.” You teased Matt, watching him bite his lip. “Oh whatever.” He chuckled, but you could feel his heart speed up with your hand resting on his chest.
