Author’s Note: With a lot of ground to cover, I went with the best way I could manage this ask! I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: mentions of character(s) death, cursing
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did I make the biggest mistake of my life? Possibly. Do I regret it? Maybe. At this point, there was no turning back as I looked down at the test in my hands. I’m pregnant and Matt Casey is the father.
Our relationship is practically nonexistent at the moment. A one night stand to comfort each other has brought us here, but he doesn’t even know it yet. Knowing Matt, he will want to get back together, but for the baby. Sighing, I stand up and put the test back in its box before washing my hands. God, I’m so scared and completely unprepared. Telling Matt would have to wait.
A few days later, while I’m tending the bar at Molly’s, Matt comes storming in. We lock eyes and he immediately comes to me. “What the hell Matt?” I ask, putting down the towel I have sling over my shoulder and grabbing his hand, pulling him into the back room.
“Y/n. I know things have been really weird between us. I know I haven’t been the same since my head injury. Not to mention me having the Darden boys and Shay’s death, I know our relationship hasn’t been the best.” Matt said, taking my hands in his. “I wanna change that. I realized that I could have lost you today and I would have so many regrets. I love you Y/F/N.”
I looked at Matt in shock. “Matt. We need to talk.” I said, taking my hands from his and stepping back. “Let me go tell one of the guys I’m leaving. We can go back to your place. I’ll meet you there, okay?” I said, patting his shoulder as I left, not letting him give me an answer.
I quickly walked back behind the bar and grabbed Otis by the elbow. He turned and leaned down to hear me over the loud noises in our crowded bar. “I gotta go. I’ll explain everything later.” I said, letting the urgency leak into my voice.
Otis stood straight, turning his full attention to you and looking at your face. You were pale and slightly sweaty. He could see the emotions flashing across your face. “Yeah. Go. I got it.” He nodded, patting my arm gently. “Let me know if you need anything.”
I nodded, replying with a quick, “Thanks Bud.” I turned and grabbed my bag and jacket from under the bar, tossing the jacket on and fiddling in my purse for my keys as I walked out. I jumped in my car and drove quickly to Matt’s apartment.
Arriving outside of his building, I sat in my car and took a few deep breaths. Whatever happened next would change our lives forever. Once I got my breathing under control, I walked inside and took my time getting to his door. Seconds after I knocked, the door was thrown open and Matt was ushering me inside.
“Want anything to drink?” Matt offered, figuring this conversation would last a while.
“Water would be good.” I replied, taking my jacket off and hanging it on the hook before going to sit in his recliner as I watched him grab some water from the kitchen.
Matt came back and handed me my water before sitting down and opening his beer. “So, what did you want to talk about?” Matt asked, trying to stay calm as he sat back and looked at you.
You had your head slightly bowed, afraid to look him in the eye. “Before I tell you, I want to make myself clear. I don’t not want to get back together because of this. I mean. We really have a lot of history together, which I’d like to discuss before I tell you what I want to tell you.” I spoke, shaking my head to try and get rid of the nerves. “I need to know that my close call today isn’t the only reason you suddenly feel like you love me or have regrets.”
Matt sat forward, placing his beer on the table and looked at you. “What do you mean?”
I sighed and sat back, trying to put some distance between the two of us. I could easily let Matt pull me right back into his orbit, but I had more to think about right now than just myself. “I mean, we’ve been friends for years. I helped you with Andy’s boys, after Hallie’s death, and you’ve helped me with Shay’s death and through the fire academy.” I started, finally looking to meet his gaze. “Hell Matt, we were engaged for a while there and it all fell apart. I mean we were so destructive with each other that it caused our breakup .How do I know it won’t fall apart again?” I said, searching his eyes as I spoke.
Matt’s eyebrows furrowed as he placed a hand over his mouth and sat back. “We just gotta try.” He simply stated, putting his hands in his lap. “I know we’ve had a rough go of it. I’ll be the first to admit that I was at fault for a lot of it, but Y/n, I really want to try here. Today was a wake up call. We may have a lot of history, but I can’t live without you.”
“Matt. I love you. I do, but we’ve been going back and forth for three years now. I’m on your truck. Your my boss. What’s that going to do to our relationship?” I asked. Quickly getting fed up, I stand and make my way to the door. “I just don’t think it’ll be a good idea Matt. I’ve got other things to think about.” I said, shrugging on my coat.
Matt hurried to catch up, standing slightly in my path to the door. There was room for me to go around him and leave, but his eyes grabbed my attention. “Like what? Can you just think about us for a second? Please Y/n.”
I sighed, closing my eyes and trying to focus. “Damn it Matt. I’m pregnant!” I shouted, throwing my hands in the air. “I’m pregnant and it’s yours and I won’t get back with you just because it’s yours. Okay? That’s what I have to think about!” I finished, letting angry tears fall as I looked at Matt and waited for his reaction.
Matt stood stunned for a few seconds before running a hand through his hair and over his face. “Wait. So, your pregnant.” Matt said, forcing the words out. “An-and it’s mine?” He asked, taking a few steps back to lean onto the wall.
I nodded, wiping some tears from my face. “Yes Matt. I’m pregnant and it’s yours.” I whispered, putting my hands into my pocket to stop myself from reaching for him.
Matt nodded, not looking at you. “Right.” He whispered. “What do you want to do?” He finally asked, looking up to meet my eyes.
“I’m keeping it.” I stated, rocking back and forth on my feet. “You’re more than welcome to be part of it’s life, but given our history, I don’t know if we should be together. I won’t be with you just because I’m pregnant with your child.” I stated again, needing to make myself clear.
Matt nodded and blew out a breath. “What if I love you? Not just because of you being pregnant. I meant what I said at Molly’s and earlier.” Matt said, finally straightening up and coming toward me. “I love you. I can’t imagine my life without you. I want to make this work.” Matt said, wiping tears from my face.
I let him wipe my tears, closing my eyes at his touch. God I miss his touch. “Matt.” I whispered. If only this man knew the pull he still had on me. “I’m scared.”
Matt sighed, leaning up to kiss my forehead. “I know. It’s okay. I’m scared too.” Matt admitted. “I’m here no matter what you decide.” He reassured, stepping back and running his hands down my arms until he was able to pull my hands out of my pockets and into his.
I nodded and looked down. I wasn’t showing yet. All I could see were my hands intertwined with his. It felt natural and so so right. “I’m willing to try, but I won’t stay with you just because I’m pregnant. If I feel like this isn’t working, I’m getting out and you just go back to being my friend and this baby’s daddy. Okay?” I finally caved, looking up to meet Matt’s eyes.
Matt smiled, tears pooling in his eyes. “Okay.” He agreed, nodding before he leaned up and kissed my forehead. “I love you. Both of you.”
“I can’t wait to get this baby out.” Y/n said as she walked over to sit on the couch from the kitchen. It was nice to have her husband and their bestfriend home after a long week.
“You done y/n/n?” Kelly asked amused at his pregnant friend. He did feel bad for her, the pregnancy hadn’t been an easy one.
“Yes, Severide. I am.” Y/n narrowed her eyes playfully at the salt n pepper haired man sitting across from her.
“Are you still coming over to help set up the nursery after shift tuesday?” Matt asked coming into the living room, handing Severide a beer before sitting down next to y/n.
“Yeah. of course I want to help set up my nephew or . . . Niece’s room.” Kelly smiled, hinting obviously at the certain information he has yet to be told. Kelly has been the most excited besides Y/n and Matt for the baby to come and he’s been trying to get the gender out of them since he knew the couple found out.
Y/n laughed at his antics, before turning her head to face Matt. “Come on Matt, I think he deserves to know. He is an uncle and Godfather right.”
Matt smiled nodding, giddy about finally letting his best friend know the gender of his baby. “Okay, okay. Let me go get the thing.”
“Thing?” he asked with confusion all over his face as he looked at Y/n since Matt left the room.
“Yes, thing. We planned a way to tell you.” Y/n smiled, also excited for Kelly to know the gender of their baby. Matt and her both knew Kelly was going to be very included in their child's life.
Matt came back into the room with a small gift bag with tissue paper coming out the top. Once he handed Kelly the bag he sat back down next to his wife, both smiling at the Squad Captain as he stared at the bag in his hands. “Go on, open it.”
With the encouragement Kelly did as told excitedly digging into the bag. “No!” he looked up towards the couple across from him with pure excitement lit up in his eyes. “Are you kidding?!”
Y/n nodded with watery eyes, loving his reaction. “We’re having a baby girl.”
The rest of the night was filled with so much happiness from all 3 of them. And Kelly knew Stella was gonna be so pissed she didn’t end up coming that night.
Staring at the test on the counter, you were speechless. It was one time, he was cute, you were drunk. It felt right, but the two pink lines definitely did not feel right.
Sylvie, who was ready to leave for shift, nagged you from outside the bathroom door, “almost done in there?”
“Yeah, I’ll be right out,” you gathered yourself and put the test in your pocket, not knowing what to do next.
You exited the bathroom with a nervous look on your face and your roommate could tell.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“Can you keep a secret from the firehouse?”
“Of course. What’s wrong?”
“I slept with Casey.”
“Wait, when?”
“A couple weeks ago.”
The look in your eyes told Sylvie you weren’t telling the whole story.
“Is there something else?” She asked, sitting you down on the couch beside her.
“There’s more.”
“Uh oh.”
“I think I’m pregnant,” you pulled the test out of your pocket and showed it to Sylvie.
Sylvie embraced you into a hug.
“Does Casey know?”
“I just found out this morning.”
“It’s gonna be okay. Should I text Boden and tell him you’re not coming in today?”
“No no,” you wiped the tears from your eyes, “I should go to work. I can’t leave truck a man down today.”
“Then we better get moving,” Sylvie smiled warmly.
You grabbed your things from your bed and followed Sylvie out the door to her car, keeping the test tucked in the side pocket of your duffel.
“Do you want to talk about it?” She asked, lowering the radio’s volume.
“I think I should tell Casey.”
“On shift?”
“Yeah, get it out in the open. I feel like I’m going to explode.”
“Can I ask you something else then?”
You nodded.
“Do you want to keep the baby? Because you shouldn’t be riding truck much longer if you’re pregnant.”
“I think so, but I want to talk to him first.”
Sylvie nodded and refocused on the road ahead. The rest of your short commute was quiet, but pulling up to the firehouse, you felt yourself get anxious.
You brought your bag into the locker room to get changed and stuffed the test from the morning in your side pocket. After changing into your station gear, you left for the bunk room to talk to Matt. He was sitting at the desk in his quarters reading the paper as you approached.
“Captain, do you have a second?” You nervously asked.
“Sure, have a seat,” he gestured towards the perfectly made bed.
There was something more than a shift change on your mind and he could tell.
“What was it that you wanted to talk to me about?” He closed the door and sat back down at the desk chair.
“This is a personal matter.”
“Ok, what about?”
“Remember what happened between us at Molly’s a few weeks ago? We both got a little drunk and one thing led to another…” you trailed off.
“I do. Is there something wrong?”
“I took a pregnancy test this morning… and it’s positive.” You handed him the test.
Matt looked like his head was going to explode, but he kept his composure as he drew the blinds shut.
“Captain-“
“No no, we’re not just lieutenant and firefighter anymore. It’s Matt, please.”
“Matt,” you corrected, “I’d like to keep the baby, but you don’t have to be involved if you don’t want to. Or you can be really involved, it’s up to you. And I probably shouldn’t be riding truck…”
You had started to ramble, a familiar trait when you were nervous.
“I think you should move in with me,” he admitted, “help you prepare and then take care of the baby.”
“Matt, I don’t know what to say. We had sex once and now you want to move in together?”
“It’s not that simple. We had sex, got pregnant and I think we should move in together to create a stable home for this baby.”
“Okay.”
“Okay? Like okay, you’ll move in?”
“Yes, but there’s rules.”
“Which are?”
“What is this? Do we share a bed when we move in? Are we dating or just friends and colleagues who have gotten themselves into a little mess with genetics?”
“Do you want that?”
“Ask me on a date Matt Casey.”
“Tempe Grill? Tomorrow night? 6 o’clock?”
“Hell yeah, Mexican food sounds great.”
“I’ve got something too then.”
“Okay?”
“I’d like to be involved. Doctors appointments, things like that, as much as you’ll let me.”
“Of course.”
“We should go talk to Boden, you shouldn’t be riding truck while pregnant.”
You stood up and he took your hand, “thank you,” you smiled.
“What’s there to thank me for?”
“For taking care of everything.”
“We’ll get everything figured out, don’t worry.”
Anesthesia
Characters: Kelly Severide x Reader, Matt Casey, Crockett Marcel
Warnings: Mentions of surgery.
Summary: It's incredible was anesthesia can do to a person.
A/N: Very much mixed feelings but it's also kinda cute, idk. Really short compared to what I normally do but oh well.
*****
"Everything ran smoothly, not a single complication. I'm proud to say your stitches are some of my best and with this kind man at your bedside, you'll be back to firefighting in no time." Crockett said with a smile once he checked all your vitals.
You hummed happily, a sleepy smile on your face as you mentally thanked the man, forgetting he couldn't hear your thoughts. "Your a really good surgeon Crockett."
"I try my best." The surgeon laughed, taking your compliment in his stride. "Rest up alright? I'll be back later to check on you."
Wiggling your fingers, you sighed as the surgeon left the room and looked up at your man in interest, only now remembering his existence when you felt his fingers combing through your hair. "Oh! Husband you're here!"
"Always will be." Kelly chuckled, finding it too amusing how loopy you were after your surgery. He'd definitely remember every single second and make sure it came in handy in the future. "How you feeling?"
"Like a billion dollars." You said with a cheesy smile, enjoying the comfort he was bringing you. "I have a question for you though."
"Ask ahead baby." Kelly said, entertaining you.
"I'm not a baby." You scoffed, looking at him disapprovingly. "What happened to our baby though, y'know the reason why my stomach was so fat." You said, poking your completely flat stomach in pure wonder.
"I did give birth right?" You asked, confirming that your fears weren't true. "There was no surgery for taking our baby, they can't cut into my womb, the wombs mine-"
"Y/N, who do you think is sitting in the chair opposite mine." Kelly rose a brow, stopping you mid ramble before you could get yourself riled up for no reason.
Confused, you huffed but listened and turned your head to your left and what do you know, there sitting was none other than your husbands best friend with your six month old playing with his fingers on his lap.
"You have a baby?" You asked, your eyebrows shooting all the way up. "Since when was Sylvie pregnant?!"
Struggling but somehow managing to keep in his laugh, Kelly mocked glared at Matt who snickered. "That's our baby. The baby we made and was just talking about."
"My baby!" You said with the biggest smile. "I missed you baby boy."
Your son sent you a gummy smile, easily recognising your voice. He made random but very cute gurgling sounds mixed in with his giggles which made you smile even more.
"Don't you dare hurt my baby boy Matthew Casey." You said threateningly, glaring at your friend with squinted eyes. "I know where you live, where you work, sleep, and eat."
"We do a lot of those things together Y/N." Matt said, reminding you that you worked in the same firehouse as you and he was also your roommate at the loft.
You hummed nonchalantly, waving him off. "I'll still come for you Matthew."
"Copy that." Matt smiled, eyeing the time on his watch. "I gotta go, shift starts in ten and I need to drop off this little man with your sitter."
"Thanks man." Kelly said, helping gather up your son's nappy bag. "Be good alright? Don't be trouble." Kelly looked at your son seriously, giving him a quick kiss before they left.
"Aw, I miss them already." You pouted, looking at your husband longingly opening your arms wide open. "Come cuddle me please. I miss you too."
"I've always been here Y/N, and I'm not leaving any time soon." Kelly chuckled, sitting on the bed besides your legs. "I've taken time off to nurse you back to full health, remember?"
You hummed, not fully paying attention, simply gazing adoringly at your husbands incredibly handsome face. At the lack of an answer, Kelly laughed, brushing your hair back from your face so he could see your properly.
"Alright, budge up." Kelly gave in, watching you cautiously in case you hurt yourself as you moved.
"Your a firefighter, shouldn't you be able to fit into small spaces?" You asked very seriously but made room for him anyways. You wanted a proper answer but all your got was a small shake of his head and a hearty laugh from your man.
Settling against him, you rested your head against his chest, finding extreme comfort in the steady beats of his heart. His warmth enveloped you the second he gently wrapped his arms around you.
Pressing a kiss into your hair, Kelly listened to you hum contently as you relaxed in his embrace. Even on drugs, you always felt as though you were home with Kelly.
"Love you." You mumbled into his chest, your eyelids fluttering shut, completely wiped out despite barely moving and doing anything.
"Love you too." Kelly replied, watching you doze off and the only thing he could hear was the beeps of the monitors telling him you were alive and your barely audible snores.
Hello again, with another request about Blake Gallo x female reader, it can be somewhat based on the first chapter where he appears, when he scales those balconies, about the reader seeing the rescue on the news, and she decides to break up with him because he takes too many risks in his job. The thing is, she wanted to tell him that she's pregnant but decides not to say anything. After three years, they meet again, and he sees her with a child, his son, they talk about the issue. With some angst, but with a fluffy ending. Feel free to change anything as you wish.
By the way, "Happy (belated) New Year," I hope you've started this year well. Gracias. <3 <3 <3
Blake Gallo- Our Son Pt1
Tumblr media
3 years ago I left my boyfriend Blake Gallo. Watching him leave for work everyday and not knowing if I was going to see him again stressed me out so much, to the point I was making myself ill. The final straw for me was when I watch Blake scale a balcony on the TV. I couldn’t do it anymore, especially since I found out I was pregnant. I was so scared that stress would cause a miscarriage. Call me selfish, but I tried to talk to Blake about him taking to many risks, being the first one to jump at the opportunity to risk his own life. I was scared. Now 2 years later I am a single mother to a gorgeous little boy and I’m back in Chicago knowing that Blake should have the opportunity to meet his son. With my son on my hip I walk into the firehouse
"YN? Is that you?” I turn and see Matt Casey walking towards me
“Hi Matt” I give him a little smile. Matts gaze down to my little boy
“Who’s this?”
“This is Jackson” I smile looking at my son
“And the dad?”
“That’s why I’m here. Is Blake around?”
"Come with me" I follow Matt further into the firehouse
"Gallo. You've got a visitor" that’s when Blake looks up at me from the table
“YN?”
"Hi" is all YN can say.
To have a bit of privacy Matt let’s Blake and I chat in his office
“What are you doing here?”
“This is the reason I’m here” I nod towards Jackson who’s now tucked his head into my neck
"Is he...."
"Yours? Yeah. I wanted you to have the choice to be part of his life”
“He’s what a year old. Why didn’t you find me sooner?”
“I was scared, selfish, but I was never planning on hiding him from you”
“When did you find out you were pregnant?” Blake asks leaning on Matts desk
“The day we broke up”
“You mean the day you left”
“Yeah” I breathe out feeling ashamed of myself “I was going to tell you that night. That’s why I wanted you to stop being to reckless”
“So you walked out on me?” Blake rubs is hands over his face, obviously feeling a little stressed and confused. He then looks at Jackson
"What's his name?"
"Jackson" again there's a small pause “look I know this is a lot to take in so here” I take a notes out of my back pocket with my new number on it "I'm staying in Chicago for the week. So if you want to be in his life then call me or text” I hand over my new number and leave the office.
Walking back to the others Blake flops down at the lunch table with a sigh
“So the kid?" Gabby asks
"Mine. She's giving me a choice to be part of his life. I just don't know how we're going to make this work. She left me, kept my son from me. How do I even be a dad?"
“That part will come naturally if you want it” Matt tells Blake
“Plus if think about it, it’s like the universes way of telling you to give it another go” Gabby shrugs
"If your both serious about this you'll figure something out" Sylvie says
Over the day, Blake has YN and Jackson on his mind. Thinking about what to do, what was the right thing to do? In the end he settles on messaging his ex partner.
Hi! Could we get a smutty and fluffy follow up to the Sev x Jay x Reader story as it ended with “let’s put a baby in you”. The fun night and then afterwards about loving being together and having a family. ❤️
yes, yes we can
here is the one anon is referring too
a/n: i apologize. this is the first smut i’ve written in a while
notes: you’re a graphic and interior designer that worked from home; you decided to hyphenate jay and kelly’s last names, and are all severide-halstead (throuples are known and legal), but co-workers will call them their respective last names still sometimes
this was longer than i intended but i hope this is what you were wanting! i don’t mind going more in-depth into any of the topics i covered in this, as well as the other thouples i have listed here
when you finally got home, you were pushed up against the door by kelly while jay locked said door. jay came up behind you and started kissing your neck and you let out a moan when he hit your sweet spot. kelly tapped your legs and you wrapped them around his waist. when you and kelly broke apart, jay was the first to speak,
“c’mon babes, let’s take this upstairs, so we can worship our milf properly.”
kelly maneuvered you so you were thrown over his shoulder and took you upstairs with jay. once on the bed, everyone started stripping. they gave you a few orgasms before alternating coming in you, and once when they were both in you at the same time. the whole night was moans, profanities, statements, and screams.
“look at you, all ready for us” “i cannot wait until these are filled with milk” “i/we can’t wait to make you a mommy” “i can’t wait to make you daddies” and so on.
next shift, they would both get teased.
intelligence
“well looks like halstead got some after defending his wife”
“oh shut up ruzek. i think its sweet”
“what can i say? i love my wife and husband”
51
“damn severide, you look like you got mauled by a lion”
kelly just looked at casey confused
“your back?”
kelly goes to the mirror and looks at his back. there were fingernail scratches all up and down it.
“this stays between us, matthew”
matt just laughed and kelly sent a text to your group chat.
a few months later you weren’t feeling well and realized you were late so you went to the store to get tests. all six of them were positive. when kelly and jay came home, you gave them a bag each with a test. when they opened it, they both looked at you then your stomach then back up at you. kelly was the first to speak
“you’re pregnant?”
you just nodded, with tears in your eyes. both came and hugged and kissed you. throughout the pregnancy they were at your beck and call. when you went to find the gender, you not only found it out, but you also found out you were having twins, both which were girls. once everyone found out, they were so excited and helped in any way they could.
when your daughters were born, after a very long and painful labor, it was hard to take them away from jay and kelly. they wanted to protect them from the world. they would thank you for giving them your daughters and you were just in awe at how quickly they became professionals.
you named them fallon james severide-halstead and blakely jade severide-halstead.
they loved being at home with their girls and loved helping when you would get clogged ducts and in general. when the doctor cleared you for sex, will and connor took the twins and they went at your pace.
a year later you got pregnant, again.
life with them was amazing, and once your third baby was born, jay retired from working, and helped with them while you worked from your at-home office, and when you were pregnant with your fourth, kelly moved to ofi for consistent hours, and a less dangerous job, and you couldn’t be more grateful.
your last pregnancy you got pregnant with twins, again, and once they were born, you all decided that 6 was enough.
Request: Matt x reader : Matt’s wife ending up giving birth prematurely after an accident, he’s at the scene with the rest of 51 and delivers his own baby boy, wrapping him his firefighter jacket 🥺
Anon I literally haven’t stopped thinking about this. It was literally in my dream. Like vividly I kept seeing our favorite Captain Casey, so I hope you enjoy!
Just like any other day, Matt and Y/N woke up to the sound of an alarm clock. Both groaned at the rude awakening from a peaceful sleep. Well peaceful for Matt anyway. Y/N was 35 weeks pregnant and couldn’t sleep well most nights. “Was that my alarm or yours?” You ask as you feel the bed move with Matt’s shifting. “Mine. You go back to sleep, hun.” “Can’t. Mini Matt has said no to that. Dad is up, so I’m up.” You say as you bring his hand to the swell of your belly, where you both feel your son move. He leans over and gives you a peck on the lips before getting out of bed.
“You know he can’t be Mini Matt forever, right? We need to pick out a name soon.” “I know, I know. I was thinking of Dallin for a first name. And maybe Matthew as a middle name.” You reply, slowly getting up and walking to the dresser, wrapping your arms around your husband, your head resting between his shoulder blades. “I like the sound of that. Dallin Matthew Casey.” He replies, turning around to face you. “Dallin Matthew, it is then!” You say, a smile on your face. “As nice as this is, one of us does have to go to work.” Matt laughs as you pout, not wanting to leave his warm embrace. He holds you for another minute before getting ready for the day.
You said goodbye to your husband as he left for 51. You mentioned that you would be over to visit, and Matt couldn't help smiling at you. The house loved you, and you loved them right back. “Whelp, little man. It's you and me for the next 24 hours. How bout we see dad later today and then run some errands?” You say quietly, running a hand over your belly, feeling a sharp kick in response from your son.
At the firehouse, it's business as usual. Calls, drills, reports. Matt heard a commotion from his office in the common area and investigated. The sight he saw warmed his heart. You, Mouch, and Hermann were sitting on the couch going over some last-minute adjustments to the nursery that they said they would come over and do after shift. “Hi, love!” you exclaim, seeing him walk over to you. “Hi. Why don't you come to my office.” He whispers into your ear, helping you up from the couch. You wave goodbye to Mouch and Hermann, linking hands with Matt as he leads you to his quarters.
You reach the door to his quarters when a sharp pain runs down your body, making you gasp. “Y/N everything alright?” Matt asks, concern lacing his features. “Yeah, I’m good. We’re good. Just Braxton-Hicks like last week.” “Ok, well, I don’t want you standing more than you have to, so come on and sit down. We don’t have to talk or anything. I want to make sure everything is good.” Matt replies as you sit on the edge of the bed in the small room.
After spending some time at the firehouse catching up with your friends, you decided to head to the store to pick up some groceries and stuff for the baby. You were making a left-hand turn, and the next thing you know, you felt something hit you. It took you a moment to realize what happened, but then it came to you that you were in a crash. You were hit on the driver's side, and you couldn’t move. You felt pain in your abdomen, more intense than what you felt earlier, and you knew something was wrong.
The bells rang out in the firehouse, and everyone jumped into action, not knowing what the damage was. “Captain, are you ok?” “Yeah yeah, I’m fine.” Matt lied as he knew this was the route you took from the firehouse to home, and the store was in between. He didn’t want it to be you. He couldn’t lose you and Dallin. It would kill him.
They arrive on the scene, and everyone’s hearts sink. They see your car, driver's side crumbled. Matt jumps out of the truck and sprints to the vehicle assessing the situation, trying to keep calm and not freak out. “Gallo! Get the jaws! It’s Y/N. She’s not moving!” He yells as the young truck member grabs the equipment and the rest of the team helps to get everyone out. “Y/N, sweetheart. Can you hear me?” “Yeah, I can hear you. Somethings wrong. I think the baby’s coming.” You reply, tears in your eyes, as pain rolls through you again, as Matt watches helplessly. “Alright, we’re gonna get you out as quick as we can.” “Hurry. Please. I’m scared.” “I know. We’re doing what we can as fast as we can.” He replies, his hand on the window, trying to mask the fear on his face.
Gallo arrived with the Jaws and got to work. “Casey, do we need the saw?” Cruz asks, running forward. “Not sure. But grab it just in case.” He says as he watches the team try to get you out. “Y/N, we’ll need to get the saw to get you out the rest of the way. I will put my jacket over you, and Sylvie will be here, ensuring you don’t have any serious injuries.” Stella says as you grab her hand and Sylvie’s as the jacket is draped over you, so debris doesn’t fall on you. Matt watches as Severide and Cruz remove the car's roof and as Stella and Hermann extract you from the car and onto the stretcher.
“Matt! We need you!” Foster yells as she helps you sit up. He runs over and wants to cry when he sees the pain you’re in. “Hey, hey, baby. You’re ok. Dallin is ok. I’m here. You’re safe.” He whispers as you hold onto him, shaking from fear and pain. “My water broke after I got hit before you guys came. Dallin is for real coming.” You say, pulling away as you search Matt’s face. You see shock and fear, and you grip his hand as a contraction takes over. You both scan Sylvie and Foster's faces and realize you aren’t going to make it to Med in time.
“Kelly, get over here! And bring Stella!” He yells to his friends as you squeeze his hand harder than he thought you could. “What’s going on?” “Baby’s on the way, and there’s no way we can make it to Med,” Sylvie says, watching you and Matt. “What do you need us to do?” “Be with them. Be their support. That’s what you can do.” She says as the three walk over. “Hey, so Brett gave us the rundown. We’re here for you and only you. Foster is letting Boden know.” Severide says as you reach for his hand. “Son of a bitch, this hurts.” You say as you feel your son move down. “Ok, he moved down. Shit.” You groan in pain, and Stella gets onto the stretcher with you, helping you sit up a little more.
“Y/N, how you doing, sweetie?” Sylvie asks, walking over. “Well, everything hurts like a bitch, and I feel like I need to push,” you reply, fear lacing your voice, gripping your husband's hand and Severide’s for dear life, your contractions getting more intense each time.
“Hey, babe, look at me. Look only at me.” Matt says as Sylvie lifts your dress, covering you with a blanket, checking you quickly. “Matt. I can’t do this.” You cry, tears running down your cheeks. You feel Kelly press a kiss to your temple, and Stella rubs your arm, trying to comfort you. “Y/N, Matt. I can feel the head. It’s go time.” Sylvie says, giving you and your husband a soft smile. “Next contraction, I need you to push, ok?” “Ok. I think I can do that.” You reply with a laugh, reality sets in, locking eyes with Matt as he smiles at you.
You feel a wave of pain roll over, bring your chin to your chest and start pushing. You gasp at the intensity of everything and feel Matt’s hand rest on your knee, helping to ground you. “You’re doing great. There you go!” “God, this hurts. I’m not doing this again anytime soon.” You pant, taking a break, as you grab Matt’s free hand with yours. “That’s ok. I don’t mind. Let’s just focus on you bringing our son into the world.” He says as he tightens the grip on your hand as you start pushing again. You can feel your baby move forward and back for several minutes, and you hate it.
You lay your head back onto Stella in exhaustion. “I can’t do this anymore.” “Yes, you can, Y/N. Look at me.” Kelly says, gently turning your head towards him. “You deal with Matt Casey and the rest of the house daily. You can birth a baby.” He says with a grin, making you snort. “Excuse me! I’m right here.” “We know.” You and Kelly laugh while Matt shakes his head. “Y/N. I can see hair. This next contraction, I want you to give me the biggest push you can, ok?” Sylvie asks as she moves your legs apart some more. You give her a nod and wait for the pain again.
You feel the most intense pain and push as hard as possible, and you feel burning. You moan as you feel his head come out. “His heads out!” Matt exclaims, rubbing your knees. “I thought it was a foot.” You quip back, panting, and Matt guides your hand to your baby's head, and you feel the fuzzy hair and start crying. “Ok, now we have to do little pushes. This part will suck, but once we get his shoulders out, it’s smooth sailing.” Foster says as she takes over for Sylvie, who runs to the back of the ambo for supplies to clean the baby once he is out.
“Little pushes? Oh, hell.” You reply, giving her a look. She just nods and prompts you to push little by little. Stella lifts you, and Kelly rubs a thumb over the top of your hand, whispering encouragements in your ear. You can feel his shoulders come out, and he starts to turn. You feel as Matt’s hand leaves yours and your knee and can’t help but watch as he takes his turnout coat off, his white polo clean as can be. “Matt. What’re you doing?” You ask, voice quivering, wondering what the hell had gotten into your husband's brain. “Grabbing our son. I can see he’s almost here.” He replies as he places the coat on the stretcher.
You groan as you give a final push and feel your baby finally slide out. You lay your head down in exhaustion and feel tears run down your cheeks as you hear him cry. Kelly kisses you on the top of your head, and Stella does the same before they head to the ambo giving you guys a moment together. You look at Matt, who’s wrapped him in his turnout coat, walking to you, tears in his eyes. “You did it, baby. He’s here. Dallin is here.” He says softly, placing the bundle in your arms. “Yeah, he is. Our Dallin Matthew Casey is finally here.” You say, running a finger down the newborn's nose, lifting your head to kiss your husband.
You stay like that for a while until Sylvie and Foster come over with a clean blanket for you and a smaller one for your newborn. They gently lift him out of Matt’s coat and wipe him off and swaddle him. Sylvie gently makes sure you’re clean and ok and makes sure the blanket covers you. You don’t realize Boden had walked over until he speaks. “Congratulations, you two. I’ve gone ahead and called Med to let them know of the situation and that you were on the way. And before you ask, the other driver has been arrested for drunk driving. Not a scratch on him.” He says, voice gruff. Matt gives his chief a look having a conversation with their eyes. He receives a nod of confirmation and helps to make sure you and your son are in the ambo safely.
You arrive at Med and are taken to a recovery room while Dallin is taken to the NICU to be assessed. You can’t help but worry that your baby is ok. You know he’s early but wasn’t sure how it would affect him. “He’s going to be ok. I know he is.” Matt says, holding your hand, moving his thumb across the top of your hand. “Matt, he was early. Five weeks early. What if something isn’t developed all the way?” “Y/N. Brett and Foster would’ve noticed and mentioned it in the field. Trust me. I overheard the nurses, and they’ll be bringing him back in about 30 minutes.” He replies, giving your hand a light squeeze. You squeeze his hand back, letting him know you trust him.
After a while, the nurses return with the newborn, letting you and Matt know that everything looked normal and that he was the cutest patient. The two of you look at him fondly, his little body bundled up in a blanket from the hospital and a little hat on his head.
“Do you have a name for him? So we can write it on his bassinet card?” “Dallin Matthew Casey.” You respond to the nurse as a second nurse places him in your arms. “Just so we know, how are you wanting to feed him?” “Bottle. Definitely bottle. I can pump, but the thought of trying to get him to latch doesn’t feel right for me.” “Alright, we can work with that. I’ll get one ready for him with what we have, and we can go over the next steps in a while.” The nurse replied cheerfully before the pair left the room.
The small family is left alone until a knock on the door removes them from their thoughts. They see their family from the station and beckon them in. They quietly enter, and Y/N notices that Hermann and Mouch have paint on their clothes and tears in their eyes. “We made something for him. Last minute at the station after we got back.” Hermann says, voice breaking, as Mouch opens a small package and brings out a miniature wooden horse painted in a soft blue with everyone’s names written on it. You try to speak but burst into tears as Matt carefully takes your son from your arms, rocking him gently.
You eventually stop crying and wipe your tears away. “That’s so sweet. You didn’t have to do that.” “Yeah, he’s family, and family’s there for each other,” Hermann replies. “Plus, we’re going to head over to the house and get that ready for the three of you.” Ritter pipes up, earning the stink eye from Mouch. “Ritter. That was supposed to be a surprise!” Mouch says in exasperation. You and Matt both laugh, feeling the love from your friends.
Eventually, Foster asks his name since she realizes it’s never been mentioned, and Matt says it with pride. Dallin is held by his honorary aunts and uncles and only makes a sound when he needs to be fed. Y/N gives him his bottle and holds him for a moment.
“Hi, sweet boy. I’m your mom. You sure gave us a surprise today. But your dad and I are so glad you’re here. So are all those crazy people who just held you. Those are your aunts and uncles, and they might love you more than they love dad and me. Based on your surprise today, I feel we’re in for more over the years, but not anytime soon, ok? Mama needs to breathe from the first one.” You whisper to him as he stares at you with his dad's bright blue eyes.
You feel your husband staring and call him out on it. “Quit being a creep staring at a woman and her baby.” You grin at him as he sits on the bed next to you. “Mmm, I wouldn’t say I’m being a creep. Just falling in love with you more and more.” He replies, kissing you and placing a hand on Dallin’s head. “And seeing you today made me fall in love even more. I’m grateful for you, and I know Dallin is too.” You reply, leaning into him as he wraps an arm around you. You stayed like this for hours, not a care in the world. It’s just you, and your family, and that’s all that matters.
Request :- Matt Casey x reader :-
he and the rest of the firehouse get called to a massive multi car pile up crash and they’re not the only firehouse called to the scene and when Matt and the firefighters are searching cars, trucks etc. they see that one of the cars hit and crushed is the car of Matt’s wife, who is pregnant with their third child and most likely had their two kids John Andrew and Eleanor Rose Casey (Jack & Ella), who are aged 4 & 2 years old…
so the whole firehouse freaks and works frantically to help save and rescue them, Matt not wanting to lose any of his family, and they are able to get the kids out who are badly shaken but not badly injured other than bruises and scratches and crying for their mama and daddy, and Matt quickly takes them over to the paramedics who both Jack & Ella know from being at the firehouse visiting Matt while he was working while he rushes back to his pregnant wife who is pinned by the car as Kelly does his best with the squad to cut her out safely but the crash is so bad and they have to protect her and the baby, as Matt’s family are their own family too…
she ends up going into labour though and due to the magnitude of the crash, Matt has to deliver his third child right there in a massive casualty scene… and it’s a little boy, happy and healthy, and when everyone is safe and sound back at Med, Matt introduces the firehouse to little Joshua Matthew Casey aka Josh ❤️
I'm just gonna post this as an imagine, as it's pretty much already written, anon. Thanks for sharing the concept! 🚒👶👶👶
Two to Three (Chicago Fire)
Chicago Fire
   Y/N tells Matt Casey that they’re parents-to-be.
Warnings: Uhhhhhhh, pregnancy I guess?
Requested = Yes
Tumblr media
“Shit,” You cursed underneath your breath.
   You were sitting in the bathroom of Firehouse 51 after throwing up your breakfast when it dawned on you that you were late.
   If it had just been a few days, you probably would have just brushed it off but it was now over a week and you were starting to get worried that you might be pregnant.
“God, how did I get myself into this?” You muttered and pushed yourself onto your feet.
“Get yourself into what?” A voice asked, making you jump out of your skin.
   It was Gabby, your partner on ambo 61.
“Nothing,” You mumbled and went over to the sink to rinse off your face. When you were done, you looked up to see Gabby giving you a skeptical look.
“What?” You asked and ripped off a piece of paper towel to dry your hands.
   Gabby raised an eyebrow, “You sure it’s nothing?”
Ambo 61, child in distress at 14 Bermount Road
   Instead of replying to her question, you hurried off to the ambo, trying to avoid the topic.
~~~
“Hey can you stop off at a pharmacy?” You asked Gabby as guys made your way back from the call.
   Gabby looked over at you briefly, “Sure.”
   Just as you had asked, Gabby pulled the ambo in front of a pharmacy and killed the engine. As you got out, you saw that Gabby was ready to hop out as well.
“You don’t have to come,” You said quickly.
   Gabby nodded but seemed suspicious as she sat back down and you slammed the door before heading into the store.
   And that was how you found yourself standing in the aisle of the pharmacy, staring at the boxes of pregnancy tests in front of you.
   You decided to grab a few and then proceeded to make your way up to the cashier, trying to avoid any eye contact as you paid. Then you shoved the tests into the paper bag and quickly left.
“That was fast,” Gabby commented and you nodded before setting the bag between the two of you.
   Just as you expected, Gabby leaned over and peered into the bag, eager to see what you had bought.
“Wait...” She looked up at you and you forced yourself to meet her eyes, “Are you-”
“I wouldn’t be buying a pregnancy test if I knew now would I?” You snapped, interrupting her before she could finish.
   Gabby stared at you for a moment and you took a deep breath.
“Sorry,” You apologized and took another deep breath, trying to stay calm.
   Gabby smiled, “It’s fine. Is that why you were in the bathroom this morning?”
   You nodded and then ran your fingers through your hair.
“God, what am I going to do Gabby?” You stressed, closing your eyes as you heard Gabby start the engine.
“Hey hey hey, You don’t even know if you’re pregnant, it could be a stomach bug or something,” Gabby said, “Plus, even if you are, you know Matt loves kids.”
   You knew Matt loved kids. You knew he would be thrilled to be a father. However, you were unsure how ready you were for parenthood.
“Look, just take the test when we get back to the firehouse and go from there,” Gabby said and you nodded.
“Yeah, that’s a good idea.”
   You sighed and let your body relax against the seat.
This was going to get interesting.
~~~
   The timer went off and you reluctantly opened your eyes and walked over to the counter where the tests were placed.
“What do they say?” Gabby asked from the other corner.
   You swallow hard and slumped against the wall.
“They’re positive,” You whimpered and rubbed your eyes, “Oh my god, Gabby, what am I going to do?”
“You could just straight out tell him,” Gabby replied, “Or maybe give him a cute onsie or something, though I feel like everyone does the onsie thing...”
   You chuckled, despite how stressed you were feeling. Of course Gabby was excited over how you should break the news to Matt.
“I know, I’ll have something prepared for you by the end of the day and then you can just give it to Matt,” Gabby patted you on the knee, “One less thing for you to worry about.”
   You nodded and smiled at your friend, “Thanks Gabby.”
“No problem,” Gabby grinned, “You know I’m sucking up to you so that I can be the one of the godparents right?”
   You laughed and Gabby pulled you onto your feet, just in time for another call to come in.
~~~
“Alright,” Gabby pulled you by her bunk just before shift was going to end, “I got it right here.”
   She grabbed a gift bag from underneath her bunk and handed it to you.
“Thanks,” You said and quickly tucked it into your duffel bag before anyone could see.
   Gabby smiled, “You know, you’re going to be a great mom.”
“I don’t know about that,” You replied, still skeptical about yourself.
“Well, I do,” Gabby said and wrapped an arm around your shoulder as you two started walking out, “I saw how good you were with that little girl from the call earlier. You’re a natural.”
“Yeah?”
   Gabby nodded, “A thousand percent.”
   You looked over and her and smiled softly, “Thanks Gabby, that means a lot to me.”
“Now,” She stopped since you two were now about to leave the firehouse, “Give the bag to Matt tonight and I’ll see you tomorrow.”
   You nodded, “Will do.”
~~~
“Hey, is everything okay?” Matt asked as soon as you guys entered your shared apartment.
   You raised an eyebrow, “Yeah...why?”
“Gabby told me before shift ended to check on you,” Matt replied and a grin formed on your face.
   Of course she would.
“So,” Matt took a seat on the couch and patted the space next to him, beckoning you to sit down as well, “You sure everything’s okay?”
   You decided that this seemed like a relatively good time to tell him so before you sat down, you grabbed the bag Gabby had given you from your duffel bag.
“This is for you,” You explained as you handed Matt the bag.
   You took a seat next to him and nervously twiddled your thumbs, occasionally picking at the skin.
   Matt gave you a curious look but reached into the bag before pulling out a onsie with a firetruck on it and the words “My Daddy Still Plays with Trucks”.
   You shyly looked up at Matt who’s face told you he was shocked.
   Matt turned his gaze away from the onsie and on to you.
“Are you joking?” He asked, his eyes bright.
   You bit your lip, “I haven’t seen a doctor yet but I took two tests this morning, both were positive, and I’m having some of the symptoms so...”
   Before you knew it, you were Matt’s arms as he twirled you around the living room.
“I’m gonna be a dad!” He sounded like a kid on Christmas Day, making you burst into giggles.
“Yeah,” You responded and Matt set you down before kissing you.
   When he parted, his eyes were dancing and you could practically feel the happiness radiating off of him.
“I’m gonna be a dad...”
~~~~~~~~~~
You and Matt have been married for three years. Despite once being in a relationship with Matt, you quickly befriended Gabby when you were her partner on 61. Now, Gabby is a firefighter under Matt and you are partnered up with Brett. Through all of the awkward moments between you and Gabby when it comes to Matt, you are still best friends. Gabby was one of your biggest supporters when you were pregnant with y/s/n. You and Matt had recently broken it off because of his alderman duties when you started getting violently sick. As your roommate and fellow paramedic, Gabby was obviously very concerned until she connected the dots.
Now, a little over three years later, you and Matt are married with a baby girl on the way. The morning sickness has definitely been the worst during this pregnancy, but Matt, Gabby, Kelly, Brett, and Stella have been nothing but supportive. As of right now, you are laying in Matt’s office with a trash can by his cot while Brett and Gabby are trying to calm you down as Matt rushes around to grab a few things. Kelly finds Matt pacing in the locker room, running his hands through his hair.
“Woah man. What’s wrong?” Kelly asks, coming to stop Matt and try to calm his best friend.
“God Sev.” Matt mutters, tears threatening to spill. “She is just so sick and I hate seeing her like this. I mean, I was talking to Gabby the other day and I don’t know.” Matt said, shaking his head and lowering himself to a seat on one of the benches.
Kelly sighed as he lowered himself to the bench beside his best friend. “You don’t have to be afraid Matt. You are already such a good husband and father. Adding one more will be a piece of cake.” Kelly soothed, patting Matt on the back.
Matt shook his head. “I never really had a father figure growing up. I’m scared I’m going to mess up and they are going to leave. Gabby tried to talk me down too and nothing…”
“Excuse me?” You croaked, leaning heavily on Brett as she helped steady you on the way to the bathroom while Gabby stayed behind to change Matt’s sheets.
“Y/n.” Matt sighed, standing slowly and coming over to you.
“No. You talked to Gabby and Kelly, but not your own wife? The mother of your TWO children!” You exclaimed, starting to shake as you began to yell.
“Baby. It’s not like that at all.” Matt plead, hands out to steady you, but you tumbled back, only being caught by Brett.
“You don’t get to be scared Matt Casey.” You whispered. “You and I are suppose to be in this together. I’m terrified every single moment since I’ve been pregnant. You know I have a fear of vomiting, yet I go through this because I love you and I love y/s/n and I want him to have a sibling.” You wept, closing your eyes as the world stared to tilt.
“Y/n!” Matt, Kelly, and Brett yelled.
You pushed back at Matt when he tried to touch you, letting Brett and Kelly lower you to the floor.
“Go get a sick bag, a water, and Gabby. Have her bring the go bag.” Brett said, feeling for your pulse.
“Shhhh. Breathe.” Kelly instructed, taking your face in his hands. “Everything will be just fine.”
“What if he leaves?” You sobbed, grabbing onto Kelly for dear life. “I need him. I’m just really hurt that he won’t talk to me but I need him.” You sobbed, not realizing that Matt was standing behind the three of you as he waited for Gabby clutching a sick bag and a bottle of water.
“Baby, no.” Matt whispered, coming to crouch in front of you, handing what he had off to Kelly. “Yeah, I’m scared and yes, I should have talked to you. But understand this: I. Am. Not. Going. Anywhere.” Matt emphasized, looking you dead in the eyes. “Both Gabby and Kelly found me in a panic and that’s why I told them. You are dealing with so much right now and I don’t want you to worry about me too.” Matt explained, wiping the tears from your face as Gabby came in with the go bag, slipping the pulse ox on your finger and the BP cuff on.
“How we doin?” Gabby asked, seeing your heart rate elevated and your oxygen levels at 95.
“Nauseous and dizzy.” You explained, leaning into Matt’s hands as he held your face.
“BP’s low.” Brett announced, grabbing the Iv kit from the bag. “I think you’ve got yourself dehydrated. I’m going to place a line.” Brett said, already prepping your arm.
Your eyes widened as you looked between all of your friends and your husband. “No way. Nope.” You said, trying to stand, but quickly falling back down into Kelly with Matt guiding your decent.
“You aren’t going anywhere. Relax.” Kelly said, squeezing your upper arms.
“Matt, please.” You begged, tears streaming down your face. You were starting to turn grey as the nausea built along with your anxiety.
“Shhh. It’s gonna be alright.” Matt soothed, kissing your forehead before turning to Kelly. “Switch with me. Let me hold her, it normally calms her down. Get the sick bag ready.” Matt instructed, quickly switching with Kelly as the man did what he was instructed to do. Matt sat with you in between his legs so that your back was pushed to his chest. He rested his chin lightly on your shoulder as he whispered in your ear. “Shhhh. It’s for the best. I’m sorry baby. I’m so sorry. I love you. I’ve got you.” Matt whispered as you began hyperventilating from the panic of the rising nausea and the impending IV.
“Look at me. Just look at me.” Kelly said, kneeling in your line of sight. He waited until you opened your eyes to meet his own. Kelly smiled at you as he started breathing in time with Matt. “Just relax. We gotcha. We gotta do what’s best for you and the little princess, right?” Kelly said, smiling wider when you nodded. “That’s right. Just breathe. Follow us and focus on us.” Kelly instructed.
Matt noticed you starting to follow, but saw Brett going in with the needle. Matt and Kelly made eye contact as the needle pinched your skin. Kelly saw your change in color as Matt felt your gasp and then gag harshly.
“Shit. Okay, here sweetheart. Hang in there.” Kelly said, placing the bag under your chin as Matt pulled your hair back once more and held you steady around the torso.
“I’m gonna flush this, then give her some Zofran. We gotta get this under control. You cool with that and then some fluids for her Matt?” Brett asked, flushing the IV as she spoke.
“God yes. Whatever you have to do.” Matt instructed, hating how you were squirming and panting in his lap. You shook like a leaf as Matt held you on the cold tile floor.
“Gabby. Can you run and grab a blanket and a wash rag? She’s shaking like a leaf.” Kelly asked, not daring to move the sick bag too far. You were only panting right now, but you had no color to your face.
“On it!” Gabby replied, hurrying off.
“Alright. You know this might sting just a little. Then I’m gonna flush it and then run the fluids, okay?” Brett warned, speaking directly to you now. Once you nodded, Brett administered the medication and did everything else she said she would do before standing up with the bag of saline.
Gabby came running back in as Brett stood up. You were still shaking, but you felt comfortable enough to push the sick bag away. Once Gabby helped you clean your face and wiped the sweat off of your face, she wrapped the blanket around you. A silent decision was made to move you, so Kelly pulled you up and steadied you until Matt stood back up and picked you up, carrying you back into his office.
You groaned, throwing your head back. “Can someone PLEASE get me some mouth wash or my tooth brush. I can’t take this taste anymore.” You whined, shoving your face into Matt’s neck as he sat with you in his lap on his cot.
You didn’t notice Kelly depart from you guys as the lot of you left for Matt’s office. He came back in seconds later with mouth wash, your tooth brush and tooth paste, another bottle of water and another sick bag. “I figured you would want to get the taste out.” Kelly said, confused at the laughter coming from everyone else.
“Thank God. Someone with some sense.” You muttered sarcastically, making grabby hands for the items.
Matt and Gabby muttered “I beg to differ” at the same time, causing everyone to laugh. God, you couldn’t do this without them.

Matt smiled, “Well, I’m glad you did.”
“And now, I’m going. Baby shopping awaits.” You said dramatically, making Matt chuckle. “I’ll see you later?” You added.
“Yes, I’ll see you both later.” Matt answered, smiling as he leaned forward to give you a kiss, his hand gently stroking your tiny baby bump.
You could still remember the look on Matt’s face when you had told him that he was going to be a father, and you’d never forget the pure joy radiating off of Matt.
You smiled, squeezing his hand before Matt cupped your face and gave you another kiss. “Later.” Matt said, as you waved, disappearing out of the firehouse.
Tumblr media
It had been a slow day until Gallo had decided to say it – “Slow day.”
As if on cue, the bells rang out across the firehouse.
Truck 81, Squad 3, Battalion 25, Engine 51, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Mall Fire.
Matt shot Gallo a semi-dirty look, shaking his head with an exasperated smile before he recognised the address that was blaring over the speakers and froze.
You hadn’t specified where you were going but Matt knew very well that you were a creature of habit – the same cafes, the same diners, the same malls.
“Casey!” Kelly called, frowning.
Casey jogged towards the apparatus floor. “I think Y/N is there.” He muttered as he passed Kelly.
Kelly’s eyes flicked towards him before he turned back to squad. “Let’s go!”
Matt jogged towards the truck and climbed in. Stella glanced sideways at him before she nodded and stepped on the accelerator.
On the way there, Matt tried your cell at least five times, each time the phone ringing until it died out. Matt was getting really worried but he didn’t have time to dwell on it as the smoke became visible right ahead.
“Damn.” Matt muttered, glancing at Stella, as she pulled the truck to a stop.
The front of the mall was already crowded with other trucks from other firehouses.
Chief Boden came towards them from where he had been already speaking to another battalion chief. “Casey, I need 81 to clear the upper floors.”
Matt nodded, turning back to the rest of truck. “You heard him 81, let’s go!”
They cleared floor after floor, bringing victims out one by one, the whole time the fact that he had no idea where you were nagging at the back of his mind. His eyes lingered on the baby store when they passed it and he made sure to personally check the whole store twice but there was no sign of anyone there.
By the time they’d cleared the building, there was still no sign or news from you. Matt made his way straight to Sylvie and Violet. “Hey, by any chance did you see Y/N?”
Sylvie looked up, a small frown crossing her face. “Y/N? Casey, you don’t think she…”
“I don’t know, I just… I don’t know. She could be at another mall for all I know.” Matt muttered, turning back to look at the building as Herrmann led Engine in.
“Casey.” Stella jogged up to him. “Why don’t you head on along to Med to check if she’s there? We’ve had ambos moving people all day.”
Matt looked up. “You got this?”
“I got this, Captain.” Stella nodded.
Matt looked over at Chief. “I cleared it with Chief already.” Stella assured him.
Matt looked like he was still hesitating but nodded. “Thanks.” He turned back one last time. “Thanks, Lieutenant Kidd.” He smiled again before he headed towards Ambulance 61.
Tumblr media
After helping Sylvie and Violet unload the patient, Matt looked around the crowded waiting room as they wheeled their patient in. His eyes scanned over everyone in the room twice before he finally entered the main area of the ED.
That’s how Maggie found Matt, standing in the ED, looking around as if he was lost.
“Casey?”
“Maggie, have you seen…” His voice trailed off as he spotted you crossing the room and entering the doctor’s lounge and he let out an audible sigh of relief. “I got her, thanks.”
Maggie nodded, smiling and patting Matt on the arm before she headed out to the waiting room.
Matt headed straight for the doctor’s lounge, pushing open the glass door.
You looked up when you heard the door open, your eyes widening slightly when you saw him. “Matt?”
Matt didn’t say anything, heading straight for you and pulling you into his arms. His arms wrapped around your body tightly, one of his arms securely around your back, another hand resting on the back of your head protectively.
“Matt?” You called again without squirming out of his grasp. Without looking at his face, you knew – he’d been worried. So instead, you snaked your arms around his torso securely, patting his back gently.
When Matt finally pulled away to look at you, you smiled. “Hey.”
“I thought you were at the mall.” Matt whispered. “I was worried.”
You looked back up at him sheepishly. “Sorry, Matt. I was going to the mall and then in true you know, Y/N fashion, I realised I’d left my purse here so I came back. Then the patients started coming in so they asked if I could stay to help.”
Matt smiled. “That was true Y/N fashion.”
You let out a small giggle. “Sorry I worried you.”
Matt shook his head, cupping your face gently. “I’m just glad you’re okay. As is our little peanut here.” He put a gentle hand on your bump.
You just snuggled your face back into his shoulder, even though he was still wearing his turnout coat.
“Now, go on.” You prompted. “We both have lives to save.”
Matt smiled back at you and nodded, giving you a quick kiss on the forehead before he headed back out.

He led the way to Boden’s office, where your Battalion Chief was filling out paperwork.
“Chief, do you have a minute?” Matt asked.
“Sure, have a seat,” he gestured toward you both.
“I need to tell you something,” you announced, sitting down across from him.
“Ok,” he put his pen down and folded his hand on his desk.
“I found out this morning I am pregnant.”
Boden looked almost as shocked as Matt did when you told him.
“Yours?” Boden asked, pointing to Matt.
Matt nodded with the biggest smile you’d ever seen.
“How long has this been going on?”
“It was one night off shift a few weeks ago. I found out this morning and now I’d like to be transferred to OFI.”
Boden thought for a moment.
“What if you stayed at 51 and worked in the bullpen? We’ve been backed up for months, you’ll report directly to me, I think it would work out. What do you think?”
“I think that would be amazing, thank you chief.”
“Then I’ll keep you here at 51. Does anyone else in the house know?”
“Brett knows, but I’d like to tell everyone at the morning briefing, so please-“
“Yes, yes, of course. Congratulations.”
“Thank you Chief,” Matt interjected.
Boden’s phone rang and by the look on his face, you knew he had to take it.
“We’ll let you go Chief,” you announced, standing up, “thanks again.”
Matt followed behind you as Boden nodded, picking up the phone.
“This is actually gonna work,” you laughed, hugging Matt’s arm.
“Of course it’s gonna work,” he chuckled, kissing your forehead.
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Kelly peeking into the bullpen, so you pulled away from Matt to not bring up suspicion.
“Briefing room, 5 minutes,” Matt told Severide.
“Thanks, Case.”
You led Matt into the briefing room, keeping a distance as to make sure it seemed like you weren’t just loving on each other a couple moments earlier.
Boden followed shortly behind to get the meeting started.
“One thing today, folks,” he announced, quieting the chatter, “one of our own has an announcement to make.”
Chief looked at you as you stood up.
“As of today, I’ll be transferring off 81 for a bit and into the bullpen.”
A cloud of ‘what?’ and ‘why?’ erupted, to the point you stood on your chair to get the house to quiet down. You exchanged looks with Matt, and you finally decided to tell the house.
“Honestly? I did a thing a couple weeks back and I probably should stop riding the truck for a little while,” you laughed, “wouldn’t want to be nine months pregnant and running circles around all you at a call.”
“Congratulations” came from every corner of the briefing room.
“Squad 3, dive rescue, Navy Pier,” dispatched announced.
Severide and the rest of squad 3 leapt out of the room to their call.
“Dismissed,” Boden sighed.
You left the briefing room quickly and Stella followed behind you. Once in the bunk room, she caught up with you.
“Girl!” She exclaimed, “why didn’t you tell me?”
“I just found out this morning,” you laughed.
“Whose is it?”
“Casey’s,” you whispered.
“You slept with Casey?”
“It was one night a couple weeks ago after we both had a few too many at Molly’s.”
“You had sex at Molly’s?”
“No,” you laughed, “he came back to my place.”
“Oh,” Stella laughed, “I mean I wasn’t gonna judge, Kelly and I have had a few good times there.”
“Well that’s something I definitely didn’t need to know.”
"Sorry," she smirked.
——
After at least 7 calls over the rest of your shift, you were packing up your bag again, but this time to go back to your warm bed.
Matt caught up with you as you reached your car.
“We still good for tonight?” He asked.
“Of course, 6 right?”
“Already made the reservation.”
“Thanks Matt.”
“I’ve got a construction job all day today. See you tonight.”
He smiled and walked towards his truck. You loaded your bag in the back seat of your car and drove towards home.

.Party of Three.
Kelly Severide x Reader
Matt Casey x Sister!Reader
Tumblr media
.Introduction.
Grace Marie Casey is the 25 year old sister of Matt Casey, Lieutenant Casey. She has a 2, almost 3 year old daughter, Brooklyn Casey. She had her daughter when she was just 22 years old. It’s not what she wished for, but she became an amazing mother.
She just got out of an abusive relationship with her husband, Jack. They met in high school and reconnected when she came home from college for Christmas break. She got pregnant on a drunken night after a party with all their friends. She didn’t want to keep the baby, but Jack did. She really felt she had no one to go to, her dad was dead and her mom in prison, Matt was so busy with his career, and Jack was pushing so hard for her to keep it. She kept the baby and her and Jack got married at City Hall when she was 6 months pregnant. Matt was against it, but Grace felt she had no choice. Unfortunately, Jack convinced her drop out of college even though she only had three months left. Ultimately, they couldn't afford it. She wanted to work in the fashion industry, but her husband kept pushing her down. He wanted to her to be a stay at home mom, but he could barely hold a job. She began working as a waitress just to put food on the table. He started to get mean. Little things would tick him. Grace eventually found drugs in his sock drawer. One night, he found the money she had saved up for Brooklyn and spent it all on drugs. When she confronted him about it, he beat her. She got up the strength to grab Brooklyn, get in the car and drive somewhere. She stopped in a McDonald’s parking lot and called the cops. Jack was arrested and hasn’t left the jail since. It’s been two years. Since then, Grace started working part-time in retail and stayed part-time in the restaurant business since it was good money. Her neighbor, Lucia, a childless 65 year old woman who Brooklyn calls “Auntie Lucia”, helped Grace with childcare.
Grace has now saved up enough money and made her way up in her company, Nordstrom, to move from upstate Illinois to Chicago with her little girl.
She puts the last box in the back of her car.
“We’re gonna miss you guys so much around here, Gracie.” Auntie Lucia says, hugging Grace and Brooklyn.
“Goodbye, I wuv you, Auntie Chia.” Brooklyn says in her sweet voice, giving Auntie Lucia a hug.
“I’ll never be able to thank you enough for everything you’ve done.” Grace says.
“It was my pleasure. You two have a bright future ahead of you.”
Grace straps Brooklyn into her carseat and slides into the driver's seat.
“Are you ready, baby girl?” Grace asks into the backseat, looking at her sweet daughter holding onto her teddy bear.
“Weady, Mommy!”
“Wave goodbye to Auntie Lucia!” Grace says as they both wave goodbye.
Grace dials Matts number and he quickly answers the phone.
“Hey, Grace! You on your way?” He asks.
“Matty!” Brooklyn yells from the backseat.
“Hi, baby girl! I can’t wait to see you!” Matt says to his niece.
“We’re just leaving now.” Grace says, merging onto the highway.
“I’ll be at the firehouse, just come on up and then I’ll help you unload at the house.”
“Okay, we’ll see you in two hours. Brookie, say goodbye to Uncle Matt.”
“Bye-bye, Matty!”
“Bye, baby!”
Grace hangs up the phone and continues on her way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two girls pull up to the firehouse and park on the street. Grace gets out of the car and gets out Brooklyn who is sleeping. She holds her on her hip with her blanket still on her and swings her purse on her other other. She locks the car and walks up the firehouse driveway. She walks into the garage, feeling very out of place.
The table of men look up at her, she notices one in particular. A brown haired, brown-eyed man probably in his early 30s, catches her eye.
“Hi, can I help you?” He asks, standing up.
“HI, I-um I’m looking for my brother, Matt. Matt Casey.”
“Oh, you must be Grace. I’m Kelly. Kelly Severide. It’s nice to meet you.” He says, reaching his hand out to shake hers.
She reaches out her empty hand to meet his.
“I’ll take you to him.” He says opening the door for her leading into the hallway.
Walking down the hallway she sees Matt emerge from a doorway.
“Hey, Gracie!” He says, hugging her.
“Hey, Matt.” She says smiling, happy to finally see her older brother.
“I just have to pack up my bag and I’ll be ready, but let me introduce you to everyone. I see you’ve already met Kelly.” Matt says.
Grace looks up at Kelly and smiles.
“Yeah, I have.” She says.
Grace follows Matt into the living room/kitchen area.
“Hey, everyone! This is my sister Grace and her little girl, Brooklyn, who’s a little sleepy from the ride. She’s gonna be staying with me and Hallie for a little.”
They make their way around the room.
“Grace, this is Hermann.”
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you and hopefully the little one soon.”
Grace smiles and shakes his hand.
“This is Gabby Dawson and Leslie Shay. They’re our paramedics.” Matt says.
“It’s so nice to meet you. Matt’s told us so much about you guys.” Gabby says, shaking Grace’s hand.
“What she said.” Leslie says, also shaking Grace’s hand.
Matt finishes introducing her to everyone else.
He packs his bag and they walk out to their cars.
“Okay, just follow me and I’ll meet you at the house.” He says.
“Okay.” She says, smiling back at him. She puts Brooklyn back in her car seat and follows Matt to his house.
In the firehouse
“Man, did you see Casey’s sister?” Severide asks, walking up to Dawson and Shay.
“Watch it, Severide. She’s got a tough past. AND a kid.” Dawson says. Casey had talked to her about their family and the struggles his sister had been through.
Severide looks to Shay for something encouraging. She shrugs her shoulders.
“She’s right.”
Matt’s House
Brooklyn finally wakes up when her Uncle Matt picks her up out of the car seat. “Matty.” She mumbles and wraps her arms around his neck. “Hi, sweetheart. I missed you.” He says, hugging her.
Once Matt and Grace get all the boxes unloaded and into her room, they sit down in the front room on the sofa. Brooklyn is all cuddled in her Uncle’s lap and Grace is sitting across from the two.
“Thank you so much, Matt. I’m gonna go out looking for apartments tomorrow. We’ll be out of your hair in no time.” Grace says, pulling her legs up onto the sofa.
“There’s no rush. I’m just glad to have you guys here.” He says looking at his niece who’s playing with the emblem on his shirt.
Grace yawns.
“You should go get some rest, I got her.” Matt says.
She smiles at him graciously.
“Thank you. I’m gonna unpack a few things and shower.”
“Take your time, we’ll be here.”
After her shower, Grace comes back down the stairs to see Hallie, Matt, and Brooklyn playing together in the living room.
“Oh, Grace, hi!” Hallie says standing up to hug Grace.
“It’s so nice to see you, Hallie.” Grace says, hugging her.
“How’s my baby?” Grace says, sitting on the floor next to her brother.
Brooklyn stumbles over to her mom and plops down in her lap. Grace wraps her arms around her and kisses her head.
“How was the drive?” Hallie asks.
“It was good, we sang most of the way and she slept the last 30 minutes.”
“I’m making spaghetti for dinner, is that okay?” Hallie asks.
“That’s perfect, Hallie, thank you.”
After dinner, Grace takes Brooklyn up for a bath and they eventually get to sleep in their room.
Ready When You Are
Tumblr media
*Not my gif*
Pairing: Kelly Severide x Reader
Requested: Yes
Prompt: Based off Boden’s storyline from “Santa Bites” but with Kelly
Warnings: Swearing, childbirth
“You’re supposed to be on maternity leave.” Kim reminded you when she spotted you at your desk.
“I know, but I’m bored and I can do just as much paperwork he-ugh” your sentence got cut short as a hand shot to your stomach as though it would somehow ease the pain.
“You okay?” Kim immediately rushed to your side hand going to your shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah sorry just Braxton Hicks. They’re way more painful than the books make it sound.” You chuckled moving back to the papers on your desk.
“Are you sure that’s all it is?” She looked at you skeptically.
“Yeah, it’s been happening the last few days. At my appointment last week the doctor said to be expecting them.” You waved her off.
“Well either way I really think you should go home.” She insisted.
“Kim-“ you began to protest.
“No, [Y/N]. I’m serious. You’re supposed to be on bed rest to begin with anyway.” She continued.
“Modified bed rest.” You corrected, but sighed when she stood her ground, “Fine. I’ll go home, and continue to be bored out of my mind, but when you’re pregnant and are forced to stay home I don’t want to hear a word from you.” You complained gathering your stuff before you descended back down the stairs you had come up the previous hour. Driving around you decided to go visit your husband at work. Stopping at the nearest donut place on the way.
“Hey mama!” Sylvie greeted jumping up to hug you as you walked into the firehouse, Peter followed right behind hugging you tightly, or as tightly as he could with your 9-month belly resting between you two.
“I hear you’ve had a little bit of a rough week. So, I bring gifts.” You smiled handing Peter a little gift box full of donuts and cupcakes.
“Thank you. You did not have to do that. Aren’t you supposed to be at home anyway?” He smiled when you stuck a finger in front of his face.
“I don’t want to hear it from you too.” You scolded as he stuck his hands up in defeat.
“Ambulance 61 injuries from a fall 815 South Nebraska.” The speaker informed.
“Thank you again. If you ever get bored with Severide let me know.” Peter joked hugging you again before heading to the ambulance with Sylvie. You turned back to the guys remaining in the room as they looked between the box Peter had set on the counter and you.
“3 more dozen in the car.” You laughed holding your keys on your fingertip as they cheered each one kissing you on the cheek on the way out. Waddling your way into the bunk room you spotted Kelly in his office. Knocking on the door lightly before walking in. Turning to see it was you, a smile brightened on Kelly’s face jumping up to help you down onto his bed.
“What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be on bed rest.” He questioned.
“Technically, I am on a bed and I am resting.” You gestured to where you lay.
“You tried to go to work again didn’t you?” He crossed his arms looking down at you.
“Kel, I am so bored! Ughhh!” You groaned from the same pain you had felt before coming into the fire station.
“What’s wrong?” Kelly dropped to his knees as you breathed deeply.
“Nothing. It’s been happening all day.” You answered shakily. There’s no way they were real contractions. You still had another week and a half, “I’m good. You heard what the doctor said about Brax-” Your eyes widened as you heard a loud pop before feeling a gush of water cover Kelly’s bed seconds before another pain appeared in your abdomen. “Oh! Fuck. I’m starting to think those weren’t just Braxton Hicks.” You cried breathing through the pain again giving yourself a few minutes,
“It’s alright we have time we just have to-” He started but was cut off by your groaning from another contraction,
“Kelly she’s coming I don’t think we have time.” You panted watching panic take over his features,
“Oh god. Oh god. Can I have some help in here?” Kelly yelled helping you breathe as you squeezed his hand. Casey, Herrmann, and Cruz running in a few seconds later.
“She’s going into labor. Where are our paramedics?” Kelly questioned looking helplessly between the three men standing stunned behind you.
“They’re on a call.” You answered for them as they stuttered.
“Okay, where’s Dawson?” He asked looking at Matt.
“Went home sick.” He answered.
“Fuckkkkkk!” You cried feeling the pain return.
“Okay alright just breathe baby. Deep breaths.” He coached as Boden came running into the bunk room.
“What’s going on?” He asked.
“She’s in labor, Chief.” Kelly explained.
“Okay Squad let’s go, Casey round them all up!” Boden ordered coming in to help Kelly carrying you towards the truck. Kelly sat beside you holding your hand as he coached you through breathing contractions coming slim minutes apart now. Sirens loud throughout the truck when it came to a stop.
“Tony get us moving!” Kelly yelled to him.
“There’s nowhere to go, Lieutenant.” Tony informed looking ahead, unable to get through the traffic-filled bridge.
“Kel-Kelly she’s coming.” You cried, begging for this to go down any other way, but you were sure now you weren’t making it to the hospital.
“Alright come on lay her down.” Boden ordered helping Kelly and Newhouse guide you to the floor of the truck.
“No offense Chief but could you.” Kelly gestured to the top of your head. Boden chuckled switching Kelly positions.
“Oh my god, Kelly, no please. I can’t do this.” You shook your head panicking.
“Hey, baby. Look at me. Yes, you can. I’m right here. I know what I’m doing I promise.” He reassured you, covering the bottom half of your body with his coat, Boden and Newhouse behind you propping you up. “What better way to bring Elizabeth into the world than in a CFD squad truck?” He winked, lifting up his coat to see. “Just take a deep breath for me, baby. I can see her head, alright? She’s right there. But I’m going to need you to push for me alright? You got this baby. On 3.” He instructed the men counting out for you as you screamed in pain. “Alright take a second. Just a couple more.”
“Kelly it hurts so bad.” You squeezed tighter on Newhouse’s hand.
“I know, just one more for me baby. One more. Ready when you are.” Nodding you took a deep breath before everyone screamed “push” around you, the pressure disappearing right before you heard a cry relief washing over you at the sound. “There’s my girl. She’s so perfect baby.” Severide smiled wide, tears brimming the corner of his eyes as he wrapped her in his bunker jacket before handing her to you. “You did so good I’m so proud of you.” He kissed your head while everyone around peaked down to the bundle into your arms.
The whole firehouse was standing outside, sign at the ready. Blake was doing a 13 mile run today, and he was going to pass the firehouse any second now. He was even running in full PPE gear to raise awareness for cancer in firemen. I was bundled in my coat, and a beanie was resting on my head.
“Here he comes! Hold up the banner!” Stella shouted. Her along with a few others held the up banner they had made with the words “Go! Gallo! Go!” written on it. That’s when Gallo arrived, and when he saw the banner, a smile graced his lips. I cheered louder than the rest of the firehouse because Blake also happened to be my boyfriend, and I was really proud of him for doing this.
“You’ve got this babe!” I cheer. Blake then began jogging over in my direction, and when he reached me, he pulled me in for a kiss. I cupped his cheeks with my hands, and I could feel the heat radiating from his skin. His whole face had a reddish tint to it, possibly because he was running 13 miles in full gear, but it made him look adorable. “I love you,” I tell Blake as he pulled away.
“Love you too,” Blake replied before going off to continue his run. As Blake ran off, I suddenly felt a bit dizzy. I grabbed onto Ritter, who was closest to me, and he caught me in his arms as I sort of collapsed.
“Y/N! You okay?” Sylvie asked as Ritter wrapped an arm around me to keep me steady.
“I-I’m fine. Just got a bit dizzy,” I answer.
“You, fainted, Y/N. That’s not normal. Come on. We’re going to take you to Med,” Emily spoke and took me from Ritter’s arms. Her and Sylvie got me into the ambulance, and then we started the drive to Med. Thankfully, they didn’t put the sirens on, because I didn’t want to cause a scene over nothing. At the hospital, I was put into a trauma room, and a few minutes later, Dr. Manning walked in.
“Hey, Y/N. I heard you kind of fainted earlier. Everything okay?” Natalie questioned.
“I just got dizzy for a moment. I’m sure it was nothing,” I respond.
“Okay, but I want to run a few tests just to be sure. We’ll get you out of here as soon as possible,” Natalie told me. After about 2 hours, Natalie came back, meaning my tests were done. “Okay, so your blood pressure was a very low earlier. Have you eaten anything today?”
“I had a granola bar earlier, but before I could eat breakfast, we got a call,” I explain.
“Well, you’re going to need to be more on top of your eating now that you’re eating for two,” Natalie informed me.
“I-I’m sorry. What did you just say?” I ask.
“One of the tests detected hCG in your blood. It means that you’re pregnant. 6 weeks,” Natalie clarified. “So, who’s the lucky guy? Would it happen to be Blake Gallo, the very man standing right outside?”
“He’s out there? Please tell me he can’t hear us from out there,” I plead.
“Uh, no. He can’t hear us. Is there something wrong, Y/N?” Natalie quizzed.
I didn’t answer her, and instead asked another question. “Is it okay for me to go?”
“Sure. But Y/N, I think that you’ll be a great mother, and if Blake loves you as much as I believe he does, then he’s going to ecstatic,” Natalie confessed.
“Yeah. Sure. Bye, Nat,” I say and leave the room, only to bump into Blake.
“Hey. I got a call from Ritter saying that Brett and Foster were taking you to Med, so as soon as I finished the marathon I came straight here,” Blake said. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I didn’t eat much today, so my blood pressure was low. That’s why I fainted. Nothing else is wrong,” I lie. “Can we get going?”
“Yeah. Of course. We can stop by the firehouse to get your stuff and then we can head to my place,” Blake answered.
“Actually, can you just drop me off at my apartment?” I question.
“Are you sure you’re feeling okay? You’re looking a bit pale,” Blake exclaimed.
“I’m fine. I just want to get some sleep,” I murmur. Blake nodded and led me out to his car, and after we grabbed my stuff from the firehouse, he dropped me off at my apartment. I wanted to get some sleep, but all I could think about was the life growing inside of me, and how I would eventually have to tell Blake and everyone else. I should probably do it sooner than later, considering I had a dangerous profession, but part of me didn’t want to say anything. Blake and I had only been together a few months, and I didn’t want to ruin our relationship. At my next shift, the day was pretty slow. We hadn’t had any calls, which was unusual seeing as we were the busiest house. All I wanted to do was be alone, so I went into the gear closet and sat on the floor. After sitting there for a few minutes, I suddenly began to cry. I couldn’t help myself. It felt like my life was falling apart by the second. That’s when the door to the closet opened, and in walked Blake Gallo, the person I didn’t want to see.
“Hey,” Blake mumbled and crouched down in front of me. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m so sorry,” I sob as more tears fell from my eyes.
“Sorry for what?” Blake asked and used his thumbs to wipe the tears from my face. “You haven’t done anything wrong?” This caused more tears to escape, and I could see worry painted all over Blake’s features. I didn’t want to have to do this now, but I knew deep down that I had to. Blake needed to know.
“Blake, I’m pregnant,” I state.
“W-what?” Blake questioned.
“When I was at Med the other day, Natalie ran a few tests to make sure that nothing was seriously wrong with me, and she discovered that I was pregnant. I should have told you sooner, but I couldn’t bring myself to,” I disclose. Blake sat down across from me, and I could tell he was thinking about something from the look on his face. He was probably trying to figure out when this had happened, but I already knew. Natalie said that I was 6 weeks pregnant, and around 6-7 weeks ago, things got heated between Blake and I after a night at Molly’s. We were both so drunk that we forgot to use protection. It soon got to the point where Blake’s silence scared me, so I spoke up. “Can you say something? Please.”
“What do you want me to say?” Blake asked.
“I don’t know. Anything would be nice,” I exclaim.
“Well, I don’t have much to say. Excuse me,” Blake murmured and stood up before exiting the closet. At that moment, my whole world came crashing down. Blake had just walked out without saying a word, which basically meant he didn’t want to deal with a child. And how the hell was I supposed to do this on my own? Of course, there was always adoption or..... I couldn’t bring myself to say it. I couldn’t even think about it. I sighed and wiped the tears from my eyes, and once I felt ready, I exited the closet. That afternoon, we got a call about a house fire. Upon arriving at the scene, Casey was already doling out orders.
“L/N, you and I are going to examine the second floor and check for victims,” Matt ordered. I nodded and put my helmet on my head. As I went to walk towards the house, Blake grabbed a hold of my arm to stop me. I shook him off and continued walking towards the house, placing my mask on before heading inside. Flames were raging around us, and even through my gear, I could feel the heat. Matt then walked up the stairs with me following behind him. Smoke was gathering on the ceiling of every room, and it was getting hard to see. As we got to the second floor, we discovered a woman crawling towards the doors. “Ma’am, you’ve got to get out of here,” Matt demanded.
“I can’t,” the woman protested. “My husband. I think he’s still inside.”
“I’ll find him,” I tell Matt. “You get her outside.”
“Are you sure?” Matt asked me.
I nodded. “I’ve got this.” Matt then helped the woman up, and they made their way back downstairs. I poked my head into the first door, and looked around. “Fire Department! Call out!” No one answered, and it didn’t look like anyone was in there, so I moved onto the room down the hall. Just then, Boden came over the radio.
“L/N, get out of there! The place is about to blow!” Boden exclaimed.
“Just a minute, Chief. There could be another victim in here,” I reply and enter the next room, which had fire raging everywhere. As I stepped inside, the ceiling above me hissed, and seconds later, wooden beams and other materials fell from above. I moved out of the way just in time, but the bad news was that the doorway was now covered, and there was no way out. I looked around as the fire spread, hoping to find something that could get me out of here, and that’s when I saw the paint cans everywhere. This room was being remodeled. Just my luck because paint was highly flammable. At that moment, the fire reached the paint cans, and I had to make a split second decision. I ran at the window and threw myself into the glass, causing it to easily shatter. I flew from the second story just as the explosion went off behind me, sending flames out of every window in the house. I was in the air for a few seconds, and then came the fall. I hit the ground hard on my side, sending waves of pain through my body. Seconds later, I was being surrounded by my fellow co-workers.
“Y/N!” Matt shouted and removed my mask from my face. “Brett! Foster! We need some help over here!” My vision started going in and out as the pain became stronger. My whole body felt heavy, and I felt paralyzed. There was nothing I could do but sit here and take it. The last thing I saw before losing consciousness was the face of Blake Gallo.
Blake’s POV
Y/N’s head fell limp as I reached her, and I was immediately filled with worry. Brett and Foster ran over to us with their supplies, and Matt and I helped them slide the backboard under Y/N before lifting her up onto the gurney.
“I’m thinking possible broken hip, maybe some internal bleeding. We need to get her to Med now,” Sylvie spoke and placed a breathing mask over Y/N’s face.
“What about the baby?” I question.
“Baby? What baby?” Emily asked.
“Y/N’s pregnant,” I tell them. The ride to the hospital was chaos. Y/N wasn’t looking to good, and Sylvie eventually had to intubate her because she wasn’t breathing well enough. Sylvie said that was likely from a broken rib that may have punctured a lung. The whole ride, all I could think about was the baby. I had reacted badly when Y/N first told me, and I didn’t want her to think I didn’t care. When we got her the hospital, Will Halstead met us at the door.
“You have to save her, man. You have to save both of them,” I exclaim.
“Gallo, I will do everything I can to make sure her and the baby are safe,” Will confessed as he rolled her gurney into one of the empty trauma rooms.
Y/N’s POV
When I woke up, I felt a bit groggy. Like I had just woken up from a very deep sleep. I felt a bit of pain, but it was mostly muted down. I groaned and opened my eyes to see that I was in a hospital room. That’s when I remembered the fall, and I started freaking out a bit. Was the baby okay? Will then entered the room with his chart.
“I’m glad to see you awake. How are you feeling?” Will asked.
“I’m fine. How’s the baby?” I question.
“The baby is fine. It’s almost a miracle. That fall should have caused you more severe injuries,” Will explained. I let out a breath that I didn’t even know I was holding in. I was so grateful that the baby was okay. “Gallo is waiting outside. You want me to send him in?”
“Yeah,” I mutter. “I need to talk to him.” Will nodded and left the room, and seconds later, Blake walked in.
“Hey,” Blake murmured and took a seat in the chair next to my bed.
“Hey. Look, Blake, I know this is unexpected, and you don’t have to agree with me, but uh, I’m keeping the baby,” I inform him.
“That’s great, because I want to keep it too,” Blake responded. “Back at the firehouse, I had no right to leave you in the dark like that. We should have talked things through, and instead I left you alone. I know we’re young, but I love you, and I will love this baby more than anyone else in the world.”
I smiled. “That means a lot, Blake. I’m super scared, but I think we can survive this.”
“Me too. You get some rest, okay?” Blake told me and stood up.
“Actually, can you stay? I don’t want to be alone right now,” I say.
“Of course,” Blake stated and sat down. “And you know, while we’re alone, we could start discussing baby names.”
I laughed. “It’s a bit too early for that, but okay. So, what did you have in mind?”
