📜New creature spreadsheet made for the Wight!
"Wights are undead humanoids that, much like wraiths, can drain the life from living creatures with but a touch. They arise as a result of necromantic rituals, especially violent deaths, or the sheer malevolent will of the deceased."

Hello once again, let me check my notes for my next list of questions. (lol im so sorry lol) 1) Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but in some of the commentaries/Q&As you've mentioned that Arthur Lester was a character whom you've had created for a while now before inserting him into Malevolent. I was wondering if you've had to (or plan on) changing up any of his already thought out past/history when making him the main character of Malevolent? Or has his previously built character/story stayed the same and you're just picking and choosing which aspects (and when) to incorporate them into the Malevolent story? 2) I have hopes that we'll get content of John and Arthur seeing a movie at some point (which may answer this question if nothing interrupts their show LOL) BUT, would John be the type of character to talk through a movie and react to everything happening on screen? Or would he be the type to stay quiet and hush anyone who tries to interrupt his movie experience? (I would assume the former just for Arthur's sake at least lol) 3) How often do you add/change little details, sfx, dialogue etc. from the Patreon released chapters to the Public release? I know in my chapter listens, at the beginning especially, there are significant differences (and in some cases entirely newly recorded line delivery?) I know there was a remastered release of Season 1 (and 2??) at some point, but after that do you normally just leave the chapters as is and string them together or do you sometimes add a couple more tweaks before releasing them publicly? 4) Ep 29 was fantastic with it's soundscaping! (and in general lol) So Im curious, and i cant recall if its been answered before, but what would you say was the most challenging soundscape for you to do to get to the point where you were satisfied with how it sounded? Are you the type that once its finished and out in the world it's considered done or are you the type that will go back and add more touch ups over time? (idk how public release stuff works so i imagine doing the latter would be a hassle) and I once again would like to thank you for your patience and kindness answering my novel of questions for you each time i send them in!
1) yes and the latter, the character was originally named Cobalt and was much angrier at the world.
2) tbd
3) after part 2 nothing but the music is changed. From season 3 on nothing is changed save one minor swap I did for chapter 144 and I wonder if anyone (yourself included) would notice or remember. I released 145 and when the public release went live I changed 144 minority and replaced it. Muhahaha
4) if I wasn’t lazy/busy it’d be the latter. I’d say the car at the end of 28 was tough.
Thank you!

31 Fics of Fright
Day 30- Frankenstein’s Master
Delgado!Master X Reader
Prompt: Monster
Notes: Oh my god, we’re here! This is the final fic in the series, all 30 of these mini stories written from a randomly generated order of masters and prompts. It’s been a challenge, I will admit- But I hear you asking ‘Masterful! This is only fic 30, the title is 31 Fics of Fright!” Well... tune in tomorrow for the remaster of The Power of The Doctor. Perhaps i’ll drop a little something into this series too before the full fic goes up. A prologue, if you will...
Warnings: Original character death, cannon typical violence

The laboratory was alive with energy, and the Master couldn’t have been happier. Professor Dominar and his assistant Doctor Armastus, the Master and his wonderful companion, were ready to present their project to their prospective investors. Their finely tuned plan, designed for brilliant, malevolent purposes. Everything was going ahead just as planned.
The lab was like something out of a black and white film: Brick walls and spiralling energy receivers, a glimmering skylight and shelves decorated with hundreds of test tubes, conical flasks and beakers. Charts covered the walls, a huge blackboard filled with scribbles and calculations. Diagrams, notes, and a genuine brain in a jar. You’d had great fun in embellishing the setting for the Master’s brilliance. All you needed now was an incredible show to match your impeccable set.
“Professor Dominar!” A voice called from the edge of the crowd.
The Master turned; a smile plastered on his face. He’d dressed himself in a lab coat and turtleneck, a pair of goggles sat upon his forehead. Beard as ever impeccable groomed, name tag hanging proudly from his top pocket.
“You must be so thrilled about today’s demonstration.”
The Master nodded in agreement. This man, with his obnoxiously styled hair and expensive smile, was of many investors- rich types that thought investment in science was a good way to secure their fortune. Also a way to avoid taxation. The Master was no charity case, but he was more than happy to pretend to run one.
“Indeed. Years of work, summarised in a few short minutes.”
“That's what all great artists face, do they not?” You chimed in, strolling over to join the conversation, clipboard in hand.
“Years of brushstrokes, hours of deliberation, blood, sweat and tears. All to end up in a single glance, collected in a canvas. Only typically, Da Vinci’s don’t have the capability to pass IQ tests.”
The Master chuckled, joined with the investor. You placed a hand upon the Timelords shoulder, sparing a glance to the waiting crowd.
“I do hate to interrupt, gentlemen, but I believe we’re ready to begin.”
The Master smiled, the picture of humbleness. A perfect fake.
“Perhaps we could converse after the demonstration, my dear fellow?”
“I’m sure, like myself, your audience will have many questions.”
You smiled sweetly at the messy haired man, lying through your teeth at his suggestion.
“We look forward to hearing them all. Ready, Professor?”
Professor. How adorable it was, seeing the devious glimmer in your eye every time you spoke his alias. He could see how desperate you were to play your game, how enticing every lie was to tell. With the shake of a hand, the investor returned to the waiting crowd. You brought your lips to the Master’s ear, covering your mouth with the clipboard.
“They’ll need an Ouija board to ask them.” You purred, gaze falling upon the two dozen scientists and business folk who were taking their seats.
With a smug grin the Master rolled his shoulders and returned to character, clasping his hands to the front and bringing the room to silence. You stood back, holding the clipboard to your chest. The Master cleared his throat, all eyes watching him with enraptured attention.
“Good morning, one and all.” He began, a small applause brewing from the audience as he spoke.
“Thank you, thank you. To glance back at the history of man would be to glance back at a strife for life beyond years. Yearning for the creation of existence through collected parts and energy, of a bite to the neck that could cause you to never die. Of ancient vexations that prevent the passage to the dead. Of course, it is all rather fantastical.”
The audience laughed. Of course it was. Frankenstein's monster, Dracula, old curses- things of fiction. Creatures of the page and screen.
“But my research has shown me that in order to advance our science, we must learn to embrace the fantastical. To use it as a blueprint. To a man from the Middle Ages, the telephone is sorcery. A simple anti-inflammatory is witchcraft. An artificial heart, an insulin pump, an amputation performed with clean hands, labelled as the work of the devil. A fantasy. But today… I aim to show you more than you could have ever imagined. The science of the future is the magic of today. Allow me, right here, to step into the shoes of Victor Frankenstein. With the help of my assistant… I shall give my creature life before your very eyes.”
Turning from the enraptured crowd, the Master gestured in your direction.
“If you would, my dear.”
You spun on your heels and moved towards the large table covered with a pale white sheet. With a flourish of your wrists the sheet flew free of the table, hands pulling at the material to free the being that was laying underneath. It lay tall, long spindly fingers and deep set eyes, royal blue skin and a hollow chest. It had a long shock of black hair, its nose two skeletal holes in the front of its face. Decorated with perfectly calculated tattoos and markings, the being on the table looked like something out of comic book, connected to the large frame of machinery through clamps and wires. You gazed proudly at the creature, before moving to put on your goggles.
The crank at the side of the table was heavy in your hands, your body putting all its strength into each turn of the handle as the table began to angle itself towards the sky. The audience gasped in shock as the Master prepared his equipment, unaware of the mechanical beep at the back of the room from the doors that had locked themselves into place. It was almost time to begin.
Walking towards the Master, you happily helped him slide into his gloves, decorating his neck with the ties of his apron. He slid his own goggles over his eyes, quirking the corner of his lips as he positioned himself at the first panel of switches.
“First system stable.”
Mirroring him at the second panel, you placed your hand upon the lever.
“Second system stable.”
The Master turned to the audience, smiling with the full force of his villainy for the first time that day. The audience took a breath as the timelord took hold of the starting switch. This was it.
“A word to the wise… do not try this at home.”
With a forceful grunt, the Master yanked the lever down into the on position. At once, the circuit boards began to shine like Christmas lights, the dials and digiometers beeping and racing towards max capacity. You pulled the switch on your end, the energy bursting from the receiver and surging towards the machine, shocking the metal and sparking like lightning. The floor began to hum as the machine churned over the power, devouring it like a ravenous beast. The machine gave a distant wheeze, the chest of the creature surging upwards like a filled air bag.
“And now, dear audience, I must thank you for those DNA samples you gave us during pre demonstration refreshments.”
The Master called above the machinery. The audience, once glued to the sight of the experiment, suddenly began to turn towards each other in confusion. You couldn't contain your smile. Oh, how naive these manipulators were. How important they were to the plan, yet so blinded by their own ambitions. The hypnotised lab techs had swabbed every glass, the samples loaded into the machine.
The engine, wheezing as she would every time she traversed time and space, had absorbed the DNA of every member of the audience into the system. The TARDIS had processed each and every one of them. Here was where the fun began.
“You should have asked your questions before.” The Master started, pulling a second lever.
With a sharp crash the beams of electricity shot from the machine, piercing directly between the eyes of each and every member of the audience. The watchers shrieked in agony as the energy within them began to be pulled away, the burning loss of their internal spark causing them unimaginable pain. The harvested energy jittered and sizzed across the beams, surging through the TARDIS and firing down the wires connected to the creature on the table. The alien, the recently deceased son of their leader, would be the perfect gift to convince them to join forces with the Master.
Reanimation, the return of a son, was a crucial element in the Master's plan for destruction.
Above the terror you couldn’t help but give a twisted shriek of laughter. How they screamed, clutching at their heads, the ones that held the strength to escape tugging at the deadlocked doors to no avail. The Master smirked, watching the alien on the table shudder and shake with newfound life, the audience’s piercing screams almost rattling the glass within the skylight.
“I said we’d be giving this creature life-” He called, watching the misery spread throughout the room with an evil smile, the pained cries of the audience dying out as they withered and fell to the ground as nothing more than drained husks. The alien on the slab began to twitch, its eyes starting to blink. You watch on in amazement, taking in your victory. The Master had done it. It was alive.
“I never said who we’d be taking it from.”

Yeth Hound (Paths Beyond)
I’m mostly avoiding talking about 2e Remastered and the transition between the OGL and ORC (and if you have no idea what that sentence means, stay ignorant) - but the yeth hound is in an interesting place regarding all this. The most well-known version of the yeth hound is all D&D, but the creature comes from English folklore. Specifically, it is Devonshire’s version of the black dog myth. So there’s the question of if yeah hound survives into the remastered edition of 2e and if it does, what form does it take? Will it still be the classic canine or will it end up closer to Devon’s headless hound?
Tumblr media
Speaking of the black dog, that bit of folklore is why the yeth hound has so many fear-based abilities. Both its howl and its bite can inflict the frightened condition as a callback to the terrifying baying hounds of oral history. When viewed from this perspective, the yeth hound symbolizes fear or something that creates fear (death, phobias, you know the drill).
It is worth remembering, however, that yeth hounds are one of those monsters benefiting from multiple traits in second edition - they are both animals and fiends. Think about what that could mean. Yeth hounds serve perfectly well as animals native to the Abyss, but they also fit the role of a canine corrupted by malevolent influence. They could be a community’s embodied nightmares, stalking the crossroads outside of town, or they can be the judged spirit of an animal, returned to haunt and punish its abusers.
Highhelm dwarves believe yeth hounds were born from the sense of grief and betrayal the first time a clan dagger was stolen. The victimized dwarf pledged themselves to Dranngvit for vengeance, and the goddess granted them the hounds in return. The Debt Minder’s yeth hounds thus cry out in sorrow and agony, preferring the flesh of thieves to all others.
Yeth hounds are known for their hatred of other canids and feature prominently in warg mythology. There the hounds fill a niche similar to werewolves for humanoids: ferocious killers of their own kind rendered bestial and mute by an evil spirit or curse. The few wargs who have broken the taboos by speaking to Pathfinders describe them as being extremely uncanny to wargs, especially their howl - despite humanoids hearing little difference.
The presence of a kithangian demon befouls a region in the long term, causing local animals to give birth to finished litters. The demon Ithanial prefers not to wait that long, however. It reaches through planar risers, abducting beloved pets and pouring its malevolent energy into them to create yeth hounds. He delights in sending these creatures back through the rifts weeks later to give families hope, only to see them crushed again by the otherworldly transformation. The ritual is reversible but is arduous and requires journeying into a region coterminous with a celestial plane at a bare minimum.

Is Berserk actually good or is it more like catered to your specific tastes? The art is really pretty lol
omg that’s actually a tough question. I think it depends highly on like individual tolerance for grimdark content and its variety of flaws? because Bersek, imo, is very deeply flawed. but the core story is legitimately good. idk how familiar you are with it’s reputation or what you’ve gathered from what I’ve mentioned offhandedly but this is a series notorious for being very dark and unpleasant. and it just depends on like. where the line is for you.
the other issue is that it’s not very accessible? the manga is still ongoing and hasn’t wrapped up any of the main conflict since it started in the 80s. the mangaka died last year I think? or the year before?and now his close friend who claims he told him the entire plot has taken over. it’s in hardcore uncharted waters wrt where it’s going and the quality of the wrap up.
meanwhile there have been 2.5 anime adaptations all of the exact same arc. and that arc itself wraps nothing up lmao.
the way the manga works, you’re introduced to the protagonist Guts who’s this really bitter jaded person who has some sort of curse and is being hunted by malevolent creatures who in turn destroy the lives of anyone who help him or who he might even momentarily get close to. and we learn that he has a very bitter nemesis in Griffith. and the set up is just very traditional grimdark fantasy. very gross on purpose etc. then eventually we get the golden age arc, which is an origin story of how Guts came to be cursed and what the source of his animosity with Griffith is. it literally ends with disaster and everything going to hell. there’s no sense of conclusion there because it’s not meant to be conclusive. but that also happens to be the only arc animated!
there was technically one 2017 anime adaptation that attempts to pick up where the golden age arc left off but it’s literally unwatchable. we don’t talk about Berserk 2017.
anyway but yeah that means if you get into it and want to know what happens, that only leaves the manga.
but circling back to discussion of content, on the one hand Berserk is *about* trauma. but on the other it’s also very bad about trauma! it’s also very bad about how it treats SA. which. there is a lot of. the mangaka got better about it over the years but it’s literally just like what is your tolerance. what are you willing to put up with for the sake of a story. and whether that story ends up appealing to you.
I think of all ways to get into it the 1997 anime is definitely the best. it’s simply not as graphic because of mainstream 90s studio standards and also the other adaptations leave out really fucking important character moments. and it makes me mad lol. it’s also just prettier imo.
and past that point it’s down to whether you like care enough about how things go down after to read the manga.
there’s also currently a remastered/expanded version of another golden age arc adaptation being serialized (hence there being 2.5 adaptations) and there’s some sort of countdown going on there site for December that some people have been theorizing means a new anime might be coming out? so idk maybe there will be news there.
so idk! I don’t think I can personally guess how much you would like the story vs your tolerance for its bullshit to recommend it or suggest you don’t watch it. like, I would have outright just recced the 97 anime to you but uh yeah the issue is ending and how it kind of feels like there isn’t one 😂
anyway I would personally call the larger story good based on how I weigh its flaws and merits. and I think that’s true for a lot of people who are into it, and it’s been incredibly influential. it’s definitely an acclaimed series? but I think it’s also very possible to weigh those pros and cons differently and a lot of people do! it just really depends on where you personally draw the line.

@et-in-arkadia and @forpiratereasons said I should do this if I feel moved, so here I am.
favourite color: all shades of blue
currently reading: Northanger Abbey for Austen book club (we started with Persuasion because of the awful movie and had so much fun we decided to do another one)
last song: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, "Red Right Hand", because it came up in Malevolent and I was overcome by a giant wave of nostalgia as a 90s kid and an X-Phile. (If you are going to listen, please click the link above, the remaster is so much better)
(Also I'd never seen the video and it is so fucking 90s it's incredible)
youtube
last series: That I watched? Sandman (on Netflix). I just caught up on Malevolent and I cannot recommend it enough if you liked Venom.
last movie: Thor: Love and Thunder. I can see why some people didn't like it, but it is a thing that was so extremely my jam in every way
sweet/savoury/spicy: Any combination of the three, as long as it's not too spicy (I can't deal with no spice but I am also a spice weenie. It is a terrible space to be in)
currently working on: A Dream/Hob thing, an Ed/Stede sex pollen thing, a couple others, but the energy and creativity are absolutely not there. (Not to be one of Those People, but Mercury retrograde is totally a thing)
If you feel so moved to participate, consider yourself tagged.

Final Fantasy Origin - A Narrative Expansion with Subverted Expectations
In Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, the narrative revolves around Jack Garland, a determined individual with a profound longing to locate and vanquish Chaos, a malevolent force that plagues the realm of Cornelia. Possessing a radiant crystal backed by the monarch, he embarks on his odyssey alongside fellow individuals, all of whom possess their unique crystals, collectively referred to as the "heroes of light." Their primary objective is to unleash the formidable power held within the four elemental crystals scattered throughout the world. This endeavor aims to restore order to the kingdom, conquer menacing creatures, and ultimately confront the very embodiment of Chaos itself. Notably, the title can be perceived as a "prequel set in an alternate dimension" to the initial installment of Final Fantasy, wherein Garland emerges as the formidable antagonist. It is crucial to emphasize that this is not a mere rehash, remaster, or faithful replication of the original content but rather a substantial expansion of the narrative and its constituent elements, making it an ideal time to explore and buy PS5 games that can fully immerse you in this captivating experience.

In subsequent stages of the game, players may encounter environments that initially appear expansive but, upon exploration, reveal themselves to be frustratingly constricted. An illustrative instance involves a densely wooded region where the panoramic landscape suggests openness, yet players are confounded by a conspicuously narrow and somewhat vexatious pathway. The developers' deliberate and exaggerated manipulation of level design becomes apparent, prompting players to reconsider their initial disappointment as they tune into the subtle humor underpinning the entire scenario.

A Deeper Look into Gaming Experiences in Elden Ring and Stranger of Paradise
Another facet deserving of attention is the game's adjustable difficulty settings. In light of recent discussions surrounding the contentious topic of "easy mode" in Elden Ring, players engaging with this "Soulslike" title may be intrigued to discover that selecting the "easy" difficulty setting prompts the game to humorously inquire, "Are you certain you don't want an even easier experience?" Conversely, opting for the "Chaos" difficulty level presents a formidable challenge, necessitating a profound mastery of the game's multifaceted systems. Thus, players of varying preferences are accommodated, from those who relish a rigorous challenge to those who seek a more accessible experience. This nuanced approach reflects the developer's adeptness at crafting diverse gaming experiences.

The primary avenues for customization in Stranger of Paradise encompass the job system and the creation of elaborate combat combinations using action abilities. Fundamental job classes are closely tied to specific weapons, yet as players progress through the job trees, they gain access to advanced and expert job classes, broadening their weapon choices. Job proficiency increases through combat or the utilization of aether shards, which impart experience points to a specific job. Each job level bestows a point for investment in the corresponding job tree, with weapon-specific action abilities also unlocked in the process. Each job boasts a distinctive special ability that defines its play style. For instance, the Tyrant job permits the imbuing of weapons with elemental power for targeting enemy weaknesses, whereas the Dark Knight can significantly augment their offensive capabilities at the cost of health with every swing. In total, over twenty distinct jobs are available for experimentation, each offering a uniquely enjoyable gameplay experience. Any one of these jobs could serve as the central mechanic for character control and progression in a standalone action RPG. For more games like this, go to buy PS5 games.

Unconventional Character Progression and Equipment System
Unlike traditional character leveling systems, Stranger of Paradise eschews direct leveling for characters and instead assigns levels to individual weapons and armor pieces. These items exhibit an affinity for specific job classes, along with bonus effects and stat enhancements. Mission difficulty is gauged by the average item level, compelling players to undertake optional missions to elevate their equipment's level. Achieving a high-affinity level between gear and job tree nodes unlocks additional job perks, such as granting Paladins immunity to status ailments.
Tumblr media
Due to the rapid acquisition of loot and the substantial impact of higher-level equipment on combat performance, players often overlook job affinity and equipment effects. Even the creation of preset loadouts proves insufficient in addressing this issue. This system may find more relevance in high-difficulty, endgame multiplayer scenarios, where meticulous gear selection is imperative. During the main game, however, job affinity appears as a somewhat tacked-on feature. The overall loot system fails to resonate with the reviewer, who expresses a preference for a meticulously curated selection of equipment.
