Has anyone ever read Something Dark and Holy, by Emily A Duncan ? Because the Russian context and the Nadya and Malachiasz story intrigue me...

Ok, about blessed monsters: I'm almost finished and it's my favorite book in the trilogy, Nadya, Malachiasz and Serefin are impeccable from start to finish, how I love them!

Overall:

-     The whole time I was reading this book I felt like I was missing something.  Like I felt 3 steps behind the story at all times, and not in a good way.  It felt like I missed a lot of information that was supposed to help you understand the whole book.  I also found the dialog to be overly complicated a lot of the times. Like the characters were either talking in circles or just having long winded monologues that were unnecessary.  I did feel like the relationship between Nadya and Malachiasz was very similar to Alina and the Darkling.  But I have a feeling that it will eventually turn out different for them.  I’m hoping that the second book in this series makes a little more sense than this one.  Maybe I won't feel so out of place because it'll be the second in the series and I should know what's going on.

Ok say what you will about the fact that I have read the 50 pages I have of SDH4 mmmm probably too many times in the last two days (they’re…. Good…..) it did help me realize that an issue I have with this current book is a simple one of just Too Many Wizards. Need to have a few nonwizards. If everyone is a condescending asshole then no one is.

She lifted a hand, spreading her fingers. “Well, the stick helped."

Ruslan looked up at him from underneath dark eyelashes. Was that hatred or respect in his eyes? Veneration? Malachiasz would take any of the three. They could all be molded into zealotry.
