#i am very against the idea that the way wwx reacts to certain situations is because he chooses to ignore his pain and focus on others #i think while he does do that he is also somebody who is very optimistic #he chooses to not dwell on painful things and instead move forward #of course he hides his pain from others i know he does that but i think reducing him to just that feels wrong #he just knows he has to keep going and he chooses to do it with optimism and hopefulness #biggest example is him saying jc losing his core was the end of him but him losing it would be ok because he would find a way to live w it #in the book him losing control and being so shocked hits me so hard because he never gave up he just couldnt control it anymore #and i think even in the show him breaking down is heartbreaking because that is something he always chooses not to do #but when jyl dies that's it for him #i love him very much #this gifset changed so much while i was making it i hope it's good #wei wuxian #the untamed #the untamed edit #cql #cql edit #my gifs

alright chat . it's time for "dissecting the inherent tragedy of transformers: botbots and the relationships in them":

(yes, i made this picmix myself 4 this. i have no regrets. also no tl;dr because you guys NEED to read this)

something i want y'all to understand is that it is Not about the idea that spud wasn't loved. he was VERY much loved by everyone, ESPECIALLY burgertron.

the whole point is that he sabotaged himself in the process of ruining someone else's life, someone who valued him and his word above others. he and burgertron BOTH let their ego get in the way of their personal lives, the only difference is that burgertron at least had the dignity to swallow his pride and apologise when it mattered most.

He gave spud a second chance because he loved him. because he recognised that he does deserve redemption, and above all else, he wants spud to know he cares, even if that means he'll never see him again, or they'll never be friends. (Even in light of the "sidekick" comment, i genuinely don't think he held any inherent malice in that statement. even if burgs was an egotist, he still loved him.)

the worst thing burgertron did in their relationship was be unaware, and im sure that despite his ego, he never meant for spud to get hurt. that's why he went out of his way to protect him, when he couldve just stood there and let spud get put on the back of a truck to never be seen again. it would have been easy.

but he didn't. he did the hard thing. the Right thing. he stood up for someone who never did the same for him.

Spud Was Loved. Spud Is loved. and sometimes love isn't going to look pretty, or manifest in holding hands and cuddling, and it isn't all rainbows and sunshine. it can hurt. it can be letting go of someone who you hurt by accident, who you never meant to harm, but it happened anyways because you made the fatal mistake of being oblivious.

And that's what Burgertron did. he let Spud go, because he understood they both needed time to heal on their own terms. regardless of if he's mad at him or not, he does still harbor positive feelings for him, and he stood up for him during times he probably shouldn't have. If he ACTUALLY hated spud, he wouldn't have stuck his neck out for him at bot prom. or believe spud when he was lying through his teeth in the games.

And that's what makes them so tragic. perhaps in another world, another life, they'd have been Actual good friends, who truly stuck by each other. maybe things would have been different.

But we'll never know that now, will we?

#yeah. so. i decided to torture myself by rewatching this show. lost count of how many times i cried. way worse than the first time #knowing everything and still watching it was painful in a whole different way it was a brand new show even though i still remembered it all #eien no kinou #eternal yesterday #jdrama #watching this while it was airing and having zero clue how it was going to end was like a rollercoaster #cus i kept going oh... that looks bad. to oh wait maybe? to oh crap that sounds foreboding. to ohh maybe with this?? to oh shit oh god #and this time around it was all just... the knowing. not the knowing that it's a tragedy but the knowing how mitsuru will be in the future #knowing that koichi changed everything for him and even though he gave him the ability to connect with other people for the first time #he also took a huge chunk of that ability with him when he left #and we don't know if mitsuru will ever regain it #mine #bl drama #bl series #ANYWAY i just had to put my emotions into something so i made these to let it outttt #they're not exactly what i originally planned but i still liked making them and CRYING

#portwell #they deserve it #and also because this is one of my favourite songs from the whole hsm series #I stared at the flower print dress and thought about animating that and said uh no put her in pink #drawing her braids without animating is already a pain but her braids are so cute....#tbh I've never drawn Real People there was a part of me that went YOU NEED TO PAINT THEM TO MAKE THEM LOOK MORE LIKE THE ACTORS #but then I wouldn't be able to animate them without spending a whole month painting #and the point of this was animation LOL #anyway this turned out slightly better than I expected #I had a couple of extra hair movement frames but ultimately realised they muddied the flow and added nothing #that's today's takeaway from animation practice!#if anyone told me 5 years ago that my first human gif animation in years would be of a disney teen show with melodrama and a broken ship #I wouldn't believe them lol #but here we are #hsmtmts #my scribbles

*watching Resident Alien season 3 undermine and almost completely sideline the one of the core friendships that made me fall in love with it*

#resident alien #there was some great stuff in season 3 I don't want to write it off completely #there was development for Asta and D'arcy both independently and in their relationship to each other #I liked Joseph (but I don't think I've ever complained about seeing Enver Gjokaj on my screen)#Jay meeting Asta's side of the family and going through her getting ready to leave home growing pains #The Mike & Liv as well as Mike & his detective girlfriend scenes were firing on all cylinders #and I thought that the Ben & Kate plot was heart breaking and compelling too #there was a great setup for season 4 #but all the Harry stuff was miserable #at this point the worst thing about Resident Alien is the resident alien and that makes me real sad #I should cut them some slack. season 3 was probably rushes and weird due to the strikes #but fell in love with season 1 so hard and I watched the whole show so fast that it feels like a left turn off a cliff #I also miiiight be having an outsized reaction because I am going through a thing

#hs!bear who had a reputation for sleeping around not bc he particularly enjoyed sex #but bc at least during sex sm1 would touch him #and he'd give anything to be touched like someone wanted him and not bc they were obligated to #college!bear who was initially interested in the pain cult at first but became hooked after they patched him up gently #hs!bear who would drape himself all over his friends and hope this time they wouldn't push him off #bernard dowd who goes his whole life being told by his family that he's too touchy and it makes people uncomfortable #bernard dowd at a young age creating rules for himself after being told time and time again that he makes people uncomfortable #and being unable to follow them bc he loves these people and he knows no other way to show it #bear watching his family shy away bc they don't enjoy and he knows that but why does it feel like they just don't want his touch?#bear breaking all of his rules and hating himself for it. loathing himself bc don't you see bear? you're too needy too touchy. you make #people uncomfortable. and the thing about children who grow up loathing themselves is that they rationalize any affection they recieve #someone from his family hugs him and he thinks to himself: they're only touching me bc they have to. they're uncomfortable doing this.#they're only doing this bc everyone knows how much you like hugs. look dowd you've made someone uncomfortable again.#so he categorizes every touch as Fake or Real but bc he grew up like this every touch is Fake. bc no one really wants to touch him. they're #only doing it bc they have to. bc they're obligated to.#bear who walks around feeling like a stranger in his own skin bc no one will touch him and if they do touch him he can't recognize weather #it's Real or Fake and so the cycle continues.#bernard dowd #dc

They both move like snakes. Liz enters and goes right, turns as if she will go north, but then sharply turns again and heads south. She meets Ruth, who emerges from the bottom. They move closer to one another until their front points touch, a little black heart appears then disappears as this happens. Liz then backs up and turns right to leave. Ruth follows and stops in front her, as if wanting to touch front points with her again. This causes Liz to quickly halt and back up, before playfully dodging past Ruth and out of frame. Ruth watches Liz leave and then quickly follows in her path. The screen is left empty for a second before the animation repeats itself.

#god ruth’s patches were a pain but i wanted this to look ‘charmingly choppy’ anyways so it’ll be fine #but this was very fun to make. way better than studying pfft #they’re both bendy country gals #ruth used to live in the city but she’s been living in the country for longer now so she can be bendy too #but the main point of this was that i wanted to show how ruth’s dent affects her movement #you can kinda see that as she tries to turn and follow liz #it doesn’t follow her body’s curve it’s very fixed in place #it’s just…stagnant ig is the best word #flatland #oc #elizabeth huntsworth #ruth galton #supernova #animation
