getting upset over the fact that ill never get to experience the cambrian explosion. i dont think i would be able to survive at all but oh to swim in the shallow oceans of the early earth with delightful creatures like hallucigenia and anomalocaris. their names r like that bc they r weird little things (hallucinations and anomalies- anomalocaris straight up means strange shrimp) but personally i think they r wonderful. look at these artistic reinditions

forever emo over the fact ill never get to see these things but i hope if the egg theory is real then i dont just live as every person that has ever and will ever exist but also every living creature so i get to experience life as one of these little creatures. little might be a bit of a strong word to describe anomalocaris though, as it was the largest predator in the cambrian oceans. it was around 30ish cm long i think?? which for that stage in the development of life was fucking massive. hallucigenia for example was like 5 and a half cm AT A MAXIMUM. bro could fit comfortably in my hand. i could hold it close and gentle. idc if the spikes r gonna poke me I WANT TO SHOW IT LOVE! the closest i could get to ever being able to hold one of these (aside from fossils) is to get myself an anorith plush bc anorith is based on anomalocaris i think. i think??? or it might just be generic prehistoric bug thing. like a trilobite. I ALSO LOVE TRILOBITES. i just love prehistoric creatures an ungodly amount. i just love paleozoology and i think these weird looking things are so cool

the art im making is for if mdzs was an ace attorney game, playing from WWX's POV to solve various mysteries/cases over the course of the plot. so this scene would be from turnabout goddess, which would loosely cover the dafan mountain mystery.

the problem with splitting novel!mdzs into turnabouts is that flashbacks are a huge chunk of the book but they don't have mysteries/ cases to solve so they've gotta be lumped together with present day stuff. imo? many of the flashbacks would likely have to be abridged so they could be retold ala DL-6, SL-9, or the fourth grade incident, where characters talk about it over some pieces of art. this is really difficult when theres a metric ton of unspoken, complex, and signifcant history between every character lmao
there's not as much of a problem with the cql timeline but i have not finished it. so.
the opening cutscenes in ace attorney always show the murder and/or the murderer plotting. the first cutscene of the game would be MXY summoning WWX, muttering about getting revenge on his family (it would also be good for him to mention the yllz being dead because that's how the novel starts.) cut to WWX's POV as he wakes up covered in blood and the investigation segment begins.
for investigations of monsters (goddess, saber, etc) the cutscene would be a scene of some poor throwaway cultivator getting their shit wrecked.
it would be cool to make a breakdown for JGY but again I need to review that scene cause I don't know who I'd base him on. maybe Vasquez or Dahlia.

Thinking of writing a fic where Wiggly calls Nibbly the "least evil Lord in Black" (a canonical fact about him fyi), and Nibbly responds by deciding to supposedly 'prove him right' by sabotaging his latest apocalypse and working with the humans. Just to fuck with him. As brothers do.
No clue if anyone would even be interested in it but I'm highly considering it. Maybe I'll see where this goes.

So you know those "parallels" between Callum and Viren in s5? Yea, these comparisons are overwhelmingly and entirely about Claudia.
Here are the receipts:
Which, going into s6, will be the most important part of Claudia's character, the fact that she is repeating all of the same missteps that Viren did. Comparisons to Callum here are entirely incidental.
That Viren is suddenly very family focused post-timeskip is almost entirely about drawing a straight line between these two. If Viren started about being so caring and loyal about Viren, what does that say about Claudia?
But let me also make a broader point: there's a lesson to all of this about interpreting stories. Sometimes, the clearest, most immediate impression we get is the most correct. When a major character, for instance, says about Callum: "you have your aunt's spirit in you," that's not an invitation to ascertain why she actually got it all wrong and reinvent the wheel. It's an invitation to accept and listen to what the story is telling you.
So that when a character, for instance, says about Viren:
You believe them.

I absolutely LOVE when the protagonist you’re rooting for slowly becomes the villain. (Or was the villain the whole time).
Except the story is being told from “hero’s” perspective, so we still see them as the Good Guy fighting the Bad Guys, and we don’t notice them becoming a villain until perspective shifts, or something Noticeably Bad happens that makes you question the “hero’s” actions and morals.
Makes you wonder WHEN they shifted from being the good guy, or if they’ve ever been the good guy. And makes you question how you didn’t see it until now.
Anyways, I think it would be fun if in LMK-
#let me root for the villain who we all think is the hero#let the story be told just right where we don’t really question them being the hero#at most let us go ‘yea the hero is a morally grey character but nothing is in black and white it’s called being a Person’#let the perspective purposely manipulate/ gas light me into thinking the main character is a hero (when they’re a villain)#but hint that they’re not a hero#towards the end slowly start showing how they’re the villain via other characters perspectives#at the end make me wonder how tf I didn’t notice bc looking back it feels like it should of been obvious#Spoofy rambles

Sometimes, I wonder what would have become of certain characters - guys like Gore and McDonald, for example - if they hadn't been killed extra-prematurely.
Would their continued presence have made any difference, and if so, how? What would it have taken for them to be pushed truly to the brink, to their absolute limit?
In essence, and for lack of a better phrase, they died as "heroes" but would they ever have become "villains" had they only lived longer?

#aristotle.txt#im tired of pretending its bad man i just dont think so#bnha is for the most part a thematically consistent series#you can disagree with the moral choices of the characters or the direction#but the story itself is well structured#the main ensemble is fleshed out and so is the world building#the biggest issue is pacing and some of the side character arcs#but the main characters are well integrated. the narrative foils of heros and villains is there#there is a lot of things i am critical of in the series and openly voice#but the story itself is overall better than it is worse and i am tired of pretending it is not !!!!#it gets so much shit on twitter like jhkjfdjksdkj#a lot of the hate feels so contrived and based solely on the anime production its not my pookies fault bones dgaf

queer characters are allowed to die in media. and it isn’t inherently A Problem or homophobic when they do.
i understand that it hurts seeing queer people die in shows and books and movies, especially if you’re queer and you saw yourself in those characters.
but the thing is, if you want better queer rep in media you have to be ok with queer characters being treated the same way cishet characters are treated. and that means letting them die sometimes.
Bury Your Gays is a problem, I’m not going to pretend like it’s not. but Bury Your Gays isn’t synonymous with every death of a queer character that happens. you’re allowed to be hurt and devastated by a character death, but i don’t think it’s fair to act like that character death is part of some wider issue just because that character is part of a minority group.
not every queer story is sunshine and rainbows with a happily ever after. some queer stories are violent, some are devastating, and people die in some of them. and that is OK.
if we act like queer people can’t die in media we’re contributing to the othering of our community. it’s saying “queer people are this special group you can’t ever do a bad thing to in media because if you do it’s homophobic.” which is not a true statement.
we can’t act like every death of a queer character is homophobic or has capital I Implications about the writer’s opinions on queer people. if we keep pushing that specific narrative queer stories are going to be stifled. writers need to be able to tell the stories they want, even if that includes a queer person dying. and acting like they can’t is doing more harm than good.
you can dislike a writer’s decision, you can stop watching a show because of that decision. that is OK. but you don’t get to go around saying the writer is homophobic because they did something you didn’t like to a character you loved.
