I thought it would be a good idea to put all of my Fma au Art that I have so far together! I hope everyone likes it!

The science of alchemy has a history of being used for nefarious purposes. But when secrets are revealed and weapons are drawn, it’s only a matter of time before powers such as Amestris, Creta, and Xing take part in Alchemic War.

An unexpected nationwide event has caused disaster and crisis across Amestris. It’s as if the ground itself began to crumble, like its hollow beneath. Nobody knows how the chain reaction of seismic events was started. However, some sources have stated the presence of a series of underground tunnels beneath Amestris territory.

The Fullmetal Alchemist has not yet returned to Central. He is currently attending to his automail engineer, whom is suffering from grievous injuries caused by the recent incident. It will likely be some time before the news of his brother’s supposed death reaches Resembool, but he is likely worried sick about him.

Slave #23 has returned home.

Laboratory 5 is only occupied by those who know of its secrets. Most of which are presumed dead to the general public.

Adult subjects:

Jerso (Last name unknown)- Human Chimera (Toad and Frogfish). Joined the military at age 19. All previous records have been effectively erased.

Zampano (Last name unknown)- Human Chimera (Razorback Boar and Hedgehog). Joined the military at age (Redacted). All previous records effectively erased.

Child subjects:

Alphonse Elric- Suit of Armor (Human soul sealed inside). Claims to be 14 years of age. (Physically died at age 10). (No military records found).

Nina Tucker- Human Chimera (Great Pyrenees). Experimentation began at age 5. (No military records found).

Name Unknown (“Violence” or “Lesser-Wrath”)- Homunculus (Artificially-created human). Age unknown. (No records of subject’s existence found).

The Mustang Unit has been forcefully disbanded. After their leader caught a glimpse of the happenings beneath Central City, he was promptly stripped of his rank and title. Only two of his former colleagues are still on duty in Central, but they will likely not cause any trouble. Riza Hawkeye is under the watchful eye of the Fuhrer, and Maes Hughes poses no threat to exposing what’s truly happening within Central.

Before the incident, the biggest news was that of the alchemist killer. The narrative was that he was an Ishvalan man with an X-shaped scar on his forehead out for revenge on the government that massacred his people.

However, now that Amestris has settled a bit more after the incident, the scarred man has returned, and he’s not alone. Word has spread of a second Ishvalan accompanying “Scar” (as the public has called him). This new accomplice is said to be missing his right arm. Some have also said that he may be the brother of Scar. However, this is all just speculation.

Since this reemergence, more uprisings have occurred in prominently military-occupied areas of Amestris.

The nationwide transmission circle has been activated too early. Father’s strength has been depleted by this incident. However, the homunculi have a new ally. One whom has lived almost as long as he has. One whom has created her own homunculi. One whom has opened the portal of Truth, and knows many of its secrets.

The boss has been reintegrated into Father’s ranks, much to his dismay. His greed and hunger for more has always made his position less than favorable for him. But this time, Father and his new supporter have taken extra measures to make sure he stays in line. He still acts like himself though. A suave, smug, piece of—

Fullmetal Alchemist Chapter 79

That was anticlimactic.

The Drachma general getting suddenly blown up while yelling is kinda funny but also a good counterexample to Kimblee's philosophy about survival meaning you're chosen by fate. Just because you're alive doesn't mean there's a purpose, it just means you got lucky, and no matter what happens, you can just die an unceremonious death.

First time I ever read this chapter, Zanpano had me fooled. I totally fell for his "third-rate" acting. I had thought he betrayed the group but he was actually setting up for Heist 4.5.

I'm gonna guess Al is hanging back with May due to a mixture of her demonstrating the Purification Arts and Marcoh not wanting to potentially reveal the Elrics' involvement with Heist 4.

The transmutation circle on Marcoh's hand is pretty much the same as the transmutation circle for a Philosopher's Stone, so I guess the ability to destroy them is just his internal knowledge about how to manipulate the Stone rather than any special characteristic about the transmutation circle.

Envy's defeat hammers in how we're nearing the end of the series. Envy first appeared in Chapter 6 and has been this constant background threat alongside Lust and Gluttony. Then during Central City, Lust died and Gluttony was defeated. Envy remained a threat.

In current events, Wrath and Pride have been the more looming threats while Kimblee is the more immediate antagonist. The last time we saw Envy was in chapter 63. And now Envy, who's been a threat since the earliest parts of the series, has been defeated.

And Envy's truest true form is so pathetic. The creature that started the Ishbal War, that killed Maes Hughes, that nearly killed Ed and Lin, that has caused great suffering for its own amusement is a little slug creature.

Envy is a SMALL creature in the figurative and literal sense. Greed could effotlessly get under its skin by just calling Envy ugly. And Envy was always quick to get angry whenever someone outsmarted or outplayed it.

Without a stone, Envy is weak and helpless and no amount of power could take away the fact that this is its true form.

in FMA you have all these characters who are leaders in one way or another, and those characters are all kind of an antithesis to the ideals King Bradley and the military regime portray.

like idk if this was intentional but the characters Roy and Olivier Armstrong but also Ling and Greed (maybe someone else im forgetting rn but you get it) are all leaders in their own ways with strong ideals, and they have subordinates and followers who support the ideals.

They are all driven by protecting what they think is important, but they are also the most unwilling to make sacrifices (although sometimes claiming they do). But since their ideals represent a better and stronger future, it results in many people actually willing to die or sacrifice for them (Maes Hughes putting his life on the line to help Roy, Lan Fan losing her arm and Fu dying, Devil's Nest chimera who died for Greed's protection, and the whole Briggs monolith fearless in the face of death if it means upholding Armstrong's ideals). It is sad but moving, and some who die even tell their leader in their final breath that this is OK.

And King Bradley represents almost the opposite of it. He thinks it's normal to sacrifice his people even if it achieves nothing. And it reflects so well during the coup d'etat. The soldiers from Central are afraid to die because whatever they were promised was flimsy as hell. They don't actually support the cause of Bradley and Father, but they were promised protection or eternal life. And how quickly the field soldiers changed sides once meeting Olivier in Central HQ! God I think that's just so neat.

ANGER & THE OTHER HOMUNCULI IN BROTHERHOOD.

NOTE: This post is only my thoughts on what Anger’s relationships with her siblings in her Brotherhood verse are like. It does not apply to any of my current interactions with other sin blogs(but can if muns want it to), and more than anything else I believe should serve as a potential jumping-off point for discussion when I interact with new sin blogs. I will also not be including Father in this list, because he is a beast and fucking complicated all on his own and kinda deserves to have a separate post. He may or may not get one in the future, I haven’t decided yet. If I do not currently interact with a blog for one of the sins and Anger is asked about them, she will default to the information listed here.

The first thing to be noted is that in my blog’s canon, Anger was a bit of a mistake. I will probably make a post on that and the whole Pendleton situation in the future(and will elaborate if asked in DMs) but for now, we continue.

Something important to note is that one of my headcanons regarding Anger and the other homunculi in her Brotherhood verse is that she was kinda passed around them like a hot potato. This is somewhat because Father likely wanted to figure out where Anger would be most useful but also because I honestly don’t think most of the sins wanted to play babysitter for long.

Anger was very stubborn and childish and asked lots of questions. Not to mention her childlike nature plus the fact that she’s Anger the Irritable means that she was rather prone to destructive tantrums and fighting. Thankfully she has somewhat mellowed out since then but when I say Anger was prone to fighting I mean fighting. Over the smallest, silliest thing she would be ready to throw hands if it made her mad enough.

For these reasons I can see her pressing some buttons that would best be left alone. And, eventually, it led to her being sent to 'find Greed', but it was honestly only for Father to get a break from her and her antics. Plus, maybe she would grow the fuck up on the way and become useful in some capacity.

Pride.

Anger looked up to Pride quite a bit in her early life. Of course, Pride has a pretty low tolerance for nonsense, so with Anger’s fondness of pranks and simply being a little bastard of a child in general, it’s easy to see how she could get on his bad side rather easily. Make no mistake, parts of it she earned. Several times she’s tried to fight Pride and in every instance, she’s had her ass handed to her in, at most, five minutes. Safe to say, Anger eventually began to dislike the eldest sibling.

Lust.

Lust was Anger’s only sister, so Anger felt an obligation to try and be close with her. Not that it was difficult for Anger to try. It just wasn’t quite reciprocated in the way Anger wanted, not that she knew. Her relationship with Lust was positive, in Anger’s eyes despite being very surface-level.

Greed.

Anger, in her early days, hardly knew about Greed other than that he was one of her older siblings, and his presence was severely lacking compared to the others. Over the few months that she was below Central, Anger learned a few things about her missing sibling.

He’d been missing for many years.

This disappearing act was not a good thing.

And several of her siblings did not appreciate this little stunt from Greed, to say the least.

But if/when Anger gets to meet Greed, they’d probably get along great. They’re both chaotic bastards after all, and probably share about two brain cells when they’re together. One is logic, the other is pure chaotic energy and you can seldom tell who has which. But usually, they’ve split the chaos one in half and logic is tossed away somewhere and forgotten about for a while. Anger is certainly the baby of the homunculi and one that is not completely rotten so I can see Greed liking her and her antics and being the big sibling Anger always wanted the other homunculi to be.

Envy.

Envy was honestly one of Anger’s favourite siblings, once upon a time. Before she was sent out to ‘find Greed’, I can see Anger and Envy being the chaotic duo under Central. Anger was always willing to do some outlandish shit to get positive attention and approval from them, but she would always draw the line at hurting someone. It was pranking galore with these two, and I believe that Envy might have at one point been sad to see Anger go.

Sloth & Gluttony.

There’s not much to say when it comes to Sloth and Gluttony, so they’re in the same category to save space. When it came to both of them, Anger was nice whenever she would interact with them. I can see her and Gluttony getting along well(though, it’s mostly because sometimes Anger would share her food with him). On the rare occasion that Sloth would be in father’s little man-cave(where Anger mainly resided), sometimes he would let her curl up against him and take a nap, or sit on his shoulder(which made her one very happy child).

Wrath.

Anger and Wrath’s relationship was likely a bit...strange in comparison to Anger and the other homunculi. Technically, they’re very similar, which can’t be helped; but at the same time, they’re somewhat different. While Wrath is an adult and the leader of an entire ass country, Anger is a child and thus usually would worry about things that a child would, which pale in comparison to the duties that Bradley has as Fuhrer of Amestris. While Wrath doesn’t often display his sin and can keep it restrained(i.e, during Maes’ funeral when Elicia was crying), Anger will display hers on a whim, easily becoming irate when slighted by someone else. Their similarities begin, however, in the fact that when they are serious and want to harm, they will. Of course, they’re also both human-based and are technically made from the same sin. Anger is simply a lesser form of Wrath. They’re two sides of a scale if you will. On the other hand, they can also both be compassionate and sympathize with humans. With all this in mind, I think that Anger and Wrath’s relationship was...kinda neutral. Wrath, being around humans quite a lot more than the other homunculi, was probably the only one who understood Anger’s tendency to act more like a human than a homunculus, and because of this, Anger liked spending time around Wrath.

Ray and Roy’s ( @ironmarkrose ) relationship history:

Rachael had spent two years constantly being transferred from station to station. Once she meet Maes Hughes however, things changed. She was finally placed under Roy Mustang. Their first meeting had been rocky but they quickly hit it off. Ray was not like the other guys in his unit and she was the first female aside from Hawkeye to be assigned under him. He had a reputation and most assume that females under him would not be a good idea. However, with Ray it was different.

She would talk with him about miniskirts and girls and everything. They quickly began to spend a lot of time together off the clock as well as on the clock. They had inside jokes with each other, a silly handshake that ray insisted on and lots of time just looking out for each other. Because of Ray, Roy actually had to buy things for when she came over to cook for him or just hang out since his apartment was where they would hang out more. it’s just nicer than hers.

When his transfer to Central finally came through, she was brought with him which was perfect. Not only did she spend time with him but she would often drag him to the Hughes household for game nights and various things. Maes would tease Roy about things but it never went much beyond that since roy nor ray never thought much about it since neither saw it as anything more than best friends.

When they lost Hughes it changed things. They knew something was wrong. Roy was determined to figure it out. Ray tried to help but things were not lining up. All she knew was she was going to do everything she could to push Roy forward to be the leader they needed.

Soon the Elric brothers uncovered more of the dark truth, things began to get complicated and messy. Soon Ray was sent back to the East where she was assigned to serve under Grumman. She had expecting things to be much worse but once she was filling in on Grumman’s plans she was more relaxed. She was still an ally to her friend.

Ray worked with Grumman to plan aid to Roy when Promise day came. Just before everything she left to be at Roy’s side when everything happened. She arrived in the middle or war. the city was in in chaos. Eventually she ended up finding her way underground where roy was. She stumbled there to hear what Envy had done to Hughes. It changed everything. Ray knew something had snapped in her friend. She stood there watching him. It was a sight she had never seen before and she didn’t want to see it again.

At first she listened to his orders remaining there even after he left. Hawkeye was the first to follow after him and ray could not stand back any longer. She ran after them but it was probably too little too late. The underground was like a maze. She trudged through till she found Roy. there was something in his eyes. Dark, empty and cold. it made her ache. he had finally found the killed but this wasn’t how to go. Riza and Ed were trying to talk him down but he didn’t want to listen.

in the heat of things, Envy had gotten away after biting Ed. Ray walked over to the creature then picked it up. he was broken. Ray couldn’t help but think how cruel it was. This thing was only following what it had been told to do. no choice, no forgiveness, no hope. She looked up at roy then frowned saying how everyone deserves another chance. Roy did not agree and it lead to some heated words but Envy had already decided. he plucked the stone from himself fading away in her hands. She shed a few tears for him though roy showed no sympathy claiming it was the cowards way out.

saddened by that, ray had no choice but to carry on. Together they moved forward. They were going further into a maze where they did not know what was ahead. Soon they were faced with the doctor. The man who started it all. Anger boiled inside of her. That feeling only intensified as Ed disappeared from their sides. She knew this was bad. Those creatures began to attack and there was nothing they could do. Just one wrong move and they were dead.

Eventually Fuhrer Bradley, better known as Wrath showed up. He kept spouting about this and that, but all Ray seemed to be able to focus on was roy. Every hit, every word and every bit of malice directed toward the Colonel touched something in her. She had always sworn herself to protect him but this was different.

She had let her focus slip and she felt the first hit. Something slashed into her skin ripping apart. The shock caused her to cry out in pain. She squeezed her eyes shut tightly trying to swallow down the pain. When she opened her eyes again she was completely pinned unable to move or do anything but watch as Bradley tortured Roy by holding Hawkeye down. The pain on his face. She knew that look. She could feel something unpleasant in her chest.

Even with her life on the line, Roy remained strong. Ray struggled trying to stop it but then roy was forced into the circle. She watched as he disappeared and she felt broken. She didn’t know what happened but she just couldn’t believe that he was really gone. Scar came just in time. After everyone left, Ray remained to take out Bradley. Her motivations were to avenge roy.

Bradley was the first person she helped kill. Once he was gone she situated Scar then left searching for answers. When she arrived down at the center of the mess, she saw roy. He was clinging to Riza. It was a very intimate moment. Ray lurked in the shadows keeping out of the sight. She listened to them. Izumi was leading them away but she stopped noticing ray. There was a brief explanation of what had happened and roy’s eyes but ray didn’t stay. She was angry and confused.

When she got to father and saw the boys there was relief and confusion. Seeing him broke something in her and she ended up saying she would have done it. She would have did it to save roy. It was the moment she realized she would have broken any rule for him. She realized she loved him. She didn’t know when it happened or why but it had. Ed noticed her and made her stop.

The fight waged on and ray got back to the surface to watch. Ray continued to do as she could which was when she met Greed. there was some flirting between them which caused Roy to scream at her but it didn’t matter. Father took his stone and everything was left to Ed. There were cheers and praises as Ed fought. It was incredible and then sad and then everything was over. Al was gone and there was this feeling looming over them. Ray crumpled over in a heap. All her emotions coursed through her at once but the sound of relief came and she looked up to see Alphonse. he looked sickly but he was there.

Ray scrambled over to the crowd. Looking at her friends. All had new wounds that should be treated. Ray quickly sprang into action shouting orders out to get everyone help that they needed. All got medical attention. After Ray was stitched up, she was released the same night.

Even though she was able to go she didn’t. Knowing that roy and everyone was still there she stayed. She slept outside the colonel’s room. The next day when she was up she couldn’t bring herself to face him or talk to him. She lingered bringing him food or moving things for him so he could do things. he never asked or noticed her with everyone else being in and out though Riza had noticed it but didn’t say a thing.

As time went on, the boys began to heal as did everyone else. Roy was focused on work and fixing this mess while Grumman was promoted to Fuhrer. It was a good thing. Slowly things were getting back to normal. Finally when Ray went to visit Roy, she was surprised to see Havoc there. She was so elated she forgot all else. She hugged him and when he got up she was absolutely the best thing in the world. She was so happy. She had barely noticed that Roy was looking at.

her attention turned to him and he smiled. She lounged for him to hug him and he caugt her. She knew his sight was back but she didn’t care. She was relieved and happy. She pulled back to look at him. After a moment or two she gathered herself remembering they weren’t alone. That feeling was back. All those feelings flooded her and she had to leave.

She eventually ran into Edward. She finally said those words she had been dreading out loud. She said she loved Roy and Ed just laughed saying that everyone knew but her. She was frustrated but she pushed that aside. She knew she couldn’t work for him with this lingering over her. She had to lock it all away and that was what she would do.

The next few months were complicated. She continued to work closely with roy and be his friend outside of work. They slipped back into things as if nothing had changed but for her they had. She found herself lingering more. One night after a few drinks she finally got the courage she had never had. She made a move on roy. One kiss lead to her in his bed. She knew it was wrong, it was risky. She told him they could stop but they didn’t. The next morning Ray left pretending nothing had happened.

That one night seemed to say enough. She could move forward. As much as she loved him, he had goals and aspirations. He had no room for love or any of it. She just needed to focus on helping him however she could. While she was ready to give up her fantasy with him, his was just beginning. Waking up alone hurt and it had seemed to trigger something in him. he had realized his feelings for ray but perhaps it was too late.

Following that, Ray continued to work for him and they enjoyed plenty of nights together. It was like they were dating without anything. Both had learned to live with it but when Ray decided to have a date, Roy knew he couldn’t wait any longer. He set out on a plan to stop this. He began to talk with Ray about if she really belonged in the military and how she could help even in other ways.

She thought about radio and slogans and various other ideas to make him seen as the man he was. When her paperwork finally came through, Roy asked to take her out to celebrate. while they were out things got a bit intense and once again they ended up in his bed but this time ray stopped it. She didn’t know what to expect but it wasn’t that. She left in a rush.

Following that, Roy had set out in a series of attempts to ask her out. Things never quiet worked out but ray enjoyed seeing the romantic side of him. Eventually they began to court one another. it was new and exciting and wonderful. There had some thoughts about moving in together and children. They even tried to get pregnant but it didn’t work. To mask his disappointment, Roy said it was for the best and it was best not to have that on him with his future at stake.

Ray believed that he didn’t want children after that. So when she learned she was pregnant she was genuinely afraid to tell him. She held back at first but one day when Roy came home she was laying on the tile floor feeling sick to her stomach roy was confused. he tried to get her up and find out what was wrong and she explained that it was morning sickness and it was normal. that was the way he found out and he was elated.

The next few months were full of ups and downs. Ray would visit roy every day and soon rumors began to spread. her being unwed and pregnant by the future leader of their country was not acceptable. Not to mention she was big and everyone always commented on it. She would cry over it all.

Roy began to insist they get married right away, not out of love but because other people would see it as wrong. She continued to refuse over and over but one night when she showed up to the office Roy was waiting, he had decorated the steps with candles and various other things for an intimate ceremony. Their friends were they and dressed up. Ray couldn’t resist and agreed to marry him. Gracia, took Rachael and got her dressed then returned to hold a small wedding for the them. They were officially married and things were looking up.

Not too long after the wedding, Ray went into labor. To everyone’s surprise, they had been blessed with twins. Katherine and Kamille Mustang. It was the best moment in their life. it was incredible. It was the beginning of their family and the start of Mustang’s raise to the top.

over the next couple years Roy worked hard rebuilding Ishval as well as Central and soon he was named Fuhrer. The twins were only three when that happened and soon Ray found herself expecting another child. This time they were blessed with a boy whom they named Maes to honor the man who got them together and gave roy hope.

Anime That Made Me Lose all Track of Time

As an anime fan there are binge able series I love to watch, because they are so enjoyable that I lose track of time. Here is a short list of anime that cause this time loss phenomenon.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Edward and Alphonse Elric live in the rural town of Resembool with their mother Trisha, their father Van Hohenheim having left without a reason. Edward bears a grudge against their father as he and Alphonse showed a talent for alchemy before Trisha died of the plague. After finishing their alchemy training under Izumi Curtis, the brothers attempt to bring their mother back with alchemy. But the transmutation backfires and in law with equivalent exchange, Edward loses his left leg while Alphonse is dragged into the Gate of Truth. Edward sacrifices his right arm to retrieve Alphonse's soul, binding it to a suit of armor with a blood seal. Edward is invited by Roy Mustang to become a State Alchemist to research a way to restore Alphonse's body, passing his exams while given the title of Fullmetal Alchemist based on his prosthetic automail limbs and use of metal in his alchemy. The Elrics spent the next three years searching for the mythical Philosopher's Stone to achieve their goals. One such lead results in them exposing a corrupt religious leader in the city of Liore while unaware of events occurring behind the scenes by the mysterious Homunculi.

Following their time with the State Alchemist Shou Tucker, which teaches them a horrific lesson, the Elric brothers have a near-death experience from encountering an Ishbalan serial killer labeled as Scar who targets State Alchemists for his people's genocide in the Ishbalan civil war. After returning to Resembool to have Edward's limbs repaired by their childhood friend and mechanic, Winry Rockbell, the Elrics meet the guilt-ridden former State Alchemist Dr. Marcoh who provides them with clues to learn that a Philosopher's Stone is created from human souls. After the Homunculi hinder them by destroying the hidden laboratory, the brothers are joined by Winry as they attempt to find an alternate means to restore themselves. At the same time, Mustang's friend Maes Hughes continues the Elrics' research and ends up murdered by a disguised homonculus, Envy, when he learns of the Homunculi's plan.

After their defeat at the hands of Scar, the Elric Brothers decide to visit their teacher Izumi Curtis in the city of Dublith, hoping that she might be able to train them in higher forms of alchemy. This backfires when she discovers their failed attempt at Human Transmutation, with Izumi telling the Elrics how she committed human transmutation on her stillborn child. Izumi expels them as her apprentices, though following a determined argument, she allows them to stay with her for extra training. Following this, Alphonse is captured by the rogue homunculus Greed, who in turn is attacked by Amestris' leader King Bradley, revealed to be the homunculus Wrath. When Greed refuses to rejoin his fellow Homunculi, he is consequently melted down by and reabsorbed within the Homunculi's creator, Father.

After running into the Xingese prince Lin Yao, who is also after a Philosopher's Stone to cement his position as heir to his country's throne, the Elrics and Winry return to Central City where they learn of Hughes's death with Lieutenant Maria Ross framed for the murder. Mustang fakes Maria's death and smuggles her out of the country with Lin's help so he can focus on the Homunculi. The events that follow result in the death of the homunculi Lust, revealing that a Philosopher's Stone forms a Homunculus's core along with an upcoming event the Homunculi are working towards. Meanwhile, Scar forms a small band with the Xingese princess May Chang, who also seeks the stone, and a former military officer named Yoki whom the Elrics exposed as a corrupt official.

Following an attempt to capture the homonculi Gluttony using Lin's sensory skills, the Homunculus end up accidentally swallowing Edward, Lin, and Envy into his void-like stomach, with the two humans learning the Homunculi orchestrated Ametris's history over the centuries. Gluttony takes Alphonse to meet Father whilst the others manage to escape from Gluttony's stomach, eventually meeting Father. Father considers killing Lin for not being one of the human sacrifices like the Elrics. Instead, he makes Lin the vessel of a new incarnation of Greed with the Elrics attempting to escape upon seeing Scar. Edward has Envy admit to having caused the Ishbalan civil war, whilst Scar meets Winry and realises the evil nature of his desire for revenge. Soon after, with Winry used against them as a hostage, the Elrics are allowed to continue their quest as long as they no longer oppose Father. Mustang receives a similar threat with his subordinates scattered to the other military branches. At the same time, finding Dr. Marcoh held captive, Scar spirited him out of Central as Scar's group head north.

The Elrics eventually reach Fort Briggs under the command of General Olivier Armstrong, revealing what they know following the discovery of an underground tunnel beneath Briggs made by the Homunculus Sloth. The brothers soon learn from Hughes's research that Father created Amestris to amass a large enough population to create a massive Philosopher's Stone. Forced to work with Solf J. Kimblee, a murderous former State Alchemist and willing ally of the Homunculi in tracking down Scar, the Elrics make their move to save Winry and split up with Kimblee's chimera subordinates joining them. As Edward is joined by Lin/Greed, who regained his former self's memories, Alphonse encounters Hohenheim in Liore. Honenheim reveals he was made an immortal when Father, once simply known as ‘Homunculus’, arranged the fall of Cselkcess four centuries ago to create his body while giving half of the sacrificed souls to Hohenheim. Hohenheim also explains he left his family to try and stop Father from sacrificing the Amestrisan people to create a massive philosopher’s stone, and achieving godhood by absorbing the being beyond the Gate of Truth on the ‘Promised Day’.

The Promised Day arrives, with Father preparing to initiate his plan using an eclipse and his desired ‘human sacrifices’ in order to trigger the transmutation. The protagonists, having assembled days prior, orchestrate an all-out attack on Central with Sloth, Envy, and Wrath killed in the process while Gluttony was devoured by Pride. Despite the opposition, Father manages to activate the nationwide transmutation once the Elrics, Izumi, Hohenheim are gathered along with Mustang after being forced by Pride to perform Human Transmutation. Hohenheim and Scar activate the countermeasures put in place by Hohenheim to save the Amestrians, causing Father to become unstable from housing the absorbed superior being within him without the souls needed to subdue it. Father is confronted above ground where the protagonists battle him to wear down his Philosopher's Stone while he attempts to replenish himself, Edward managing to defeat the gravely weakened Pride before joining the fray.

Alphonse, whose armor is all but destroyed, sacrifices his soul to restore Edward's right arm while Greed leaves Lin's body and sacrifices himself to weaken Father's body enough for Edward to destroy Father's Philosopher's Stone. This causes Father to implode out of reality while dragged into the Gate of Truth from which he was created. Edward sacrifices his ability to perform alchemy to retrieve a fully restored Alphonse, Lin receiving a Philosopher's Stone while promising May to be a just ruler. Hohenheim takes his leave and visits Trisha's grave where he dies with a smile on his face. The Elrics return home months later, still motivated by those they failed to save in learning new forms of alchemy to prevent repeated tragedies. This leads to the Elrics leaving Amestris two years later to study other cultures and their knowledge, with Alphonse leaving for Xing in the east while Edward heads westward. Fullmetal Alchemist has such a well developed adventure story that it sucked me in the first volume, and left me wanting more. Brotherhood follows the manga of the same name and much like the manga has ability to suck me into the plot with each episode. Embarrassing enough to say, but whole days have been lost to the tale of the brothers Elrick, and their quest to defeat the homunculi and get their bodies back as Ed and Winry fall in love.

Nura Rise of the Yokai Clan

Rikuo Nura is 3/4 human and 1/4 yōkai, in which he has a human form in the day but transforms into his yōkai form at night. He lives in a house full of yōkai along with his yōkai grandfather. Trying to escape his fate, he does good deeds in order to avoid becoming a yōkai, despite his grandfather's wish that Rikuo succeed him as the Third Head of the Nura Clan. Rikuo is different because he helps humans. He eventually comes to terms with his yōkai blood and decides to take up the position of the Third Head of the Nura Clan. Multiple factions aim to stop him or usurp his position, and he must gather friends and allies, a new Hyakki Yakō under his banner of "Fear".

Gyuki's Test Arc

The Kiyojuji Paranormal Patrol travels to Mt. Nejireme at the invitation of a supposed yōkai specialist. However, the invitation turns out to have been a trap by the head of the Gyuki Clan. Separated, the members of the Kiyojuji Paranormal Patrol must deal with yōkai of the Gyuki Clan and Rikuo ultimately faces Gyuki himself. Rikuo learns that Gyuki set up the trap because he didn't want the Nura Clan, which he greatly cherishes, to suffer under the influence of a weak leader. The two clash and Gyuki is overwhelmed by Rikuo's night form. Afterward, Rikuo decides to take up the mantle of Nurarihyon and officially become the next Nura Clan head.

Shikoku Arc

When one of the board members of the Nura Clan is attacked and killed, and Nurarihyon subsequently disappears without notice, the Nura Clan is thrown into chaos. Trying to keep them together, Rikuo encounters a rival faction from the Shikoku area who intend to take over the Nura Clan's territory. Their leader, Tamazuki, is ruthless and willing to sacrifice his subordinates to further his own goals. Rikuo and his Hyakki Yakō battle with Tamazuki and his Hachijuuhakki Yakō (consisting of 88 demons, instead of the 100 of a Hyakki Yakō) and emerge victorious. However, Rikuo decides to spare Tamazuki after the battle at the request of his father - who Nurarihyon had gone to visit. Tamazuki is spared under the condition that he build a memorial in honor of the subordinates who died by his hand.

Past Arc

The story of Rikuo's grandparents Nurarihyon and Yohime, the creation of the spirit blade Nenekirimaru and the battle against Hagoromo Gitsune 400 years ago.

Tono Arc

When Haguromo Gitsune resurfaces in Kyoto, Rikuo is determined to fight her and take revenge for his father's death - as well as rescue Yura, who has gone to aid the rest of the Keikain family in protecting Kyoto. However, as he is still too inexperienced and weak, his grandfather asks the head of the yōkai Tono Village to take in and train Rikuo. After an encounter with one of the Kyoto Yokai, Rikuo comes to realize what sort of power the yōkai Nurarihyon possesses and, having grown stronger, leaves along with several Tono Yokai to return to the Nura House and prepare for the assault on Kyoto.

Kyoto Arc

Rikuo, along with the vast majority of the Nura Clan and several yōkai from Tono, invade Kyoto. Nearly all of the onmyoji barriers around the city have been destroyed by Kyoto Yokai, and the Keikain House itself struggles to fight against Hagoromo Gitsune's forces. They ultimately join forces with Rikuo's Hyakki Yakō to replace the fallen barriers and stop Hagoromo Gitsune from giving birth to a new evil.

Hundred Tales Clan Arc

After the battle with Hagoromo Gitsune's forces and the resurrected Abe no Seimei, also known as Nue, Rikuo and the Nura Clan are challenged by the remnants of the Hundred Tales Clan and its executives. The clan was once led by a human named Sanmoto Gorozaemon who grew in power by spreading stories about yōkai and in turn created them. The group was destroyed by Rihan and the Nura Clan 350 years ago. Now, the clan is encroaching on the Nura Clan's territory and working to revive Sanmoto's main body, which resides in hell.

Gokadoin House Arc

Following the battle with Sanmoto Gorozaemon and his Hundred Tales Clan, it was revealed that the onmyoji sect known as the Gokadoin House is composed of Abe no Seimei's descendants who used Seimei's forbidden research on immortality to prolong their lives. When the Gokadoin house starts mobilizing to "purify" the land of yōkai and humans, Rikuo starts to establish an alliance between the various yokai clans throughout Japan. -- Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nura:_Rise_of_the_Yokai_Clan)

The story follows Nura as he balances his life between between his human existence and his life as the next head of the Nura Clan, a gathering of Yokai. At the end of every episode I was left wanting more. So when it became available on Hulu it became a depiction of the popular binge watching trope where I watched the whole series day in and day out.

Blue Exorcist

The story revolves around Rin Okumura, who, along with his younger twin Yukio Okumura, was raised by Father Shiro Fujimoto, an Exorcist. One day, Rin learns that he and Yukio are the sons of Satan. Witnessing Shiro dying to protect him, Rin draws the demon-slaying sword Kurikara (倶利伽羅), which restrains his demonic powers. From that moment on, Rin not only gains demonic features like fangs and a tail, but also the power to ignite into blue flames that destroy almost anything he touches.

Rin wishes to become an Exorcist like his guardian to become stronger and to defeat Satan. He enrolls at the prestigious True Cross Academy (正十字学園 Sei Jūji Gakuen), an exorcist cram school, which is actually the Japanese branch of the True Cross Order (正十字騎士團), an international organization dedicated to protect Assiah (human realm) from the Gehenna (demonic realm). Much to his surprise, Rin finds that Yukio is already a veteran Exorcist and is one of his teachers. As Rin, a half-demon, as he balances his human and demonic existence and begins to embrace the parts of his being that are his demonic self, using that power to defeat the demons that plague mankind, and his father Lucifer. Each episode felt short and bite sized, and much like Lay’s potato chips you can’t consume just one.

Conclusion

If you are looking to lose yourself, and days of time, enjoying anime these series are my pick as the best anime that will cause you to lose all track of time. They will keep you entertained and wanting more, and even when their stories are over they will leave you wanting more.

Well, the manga, if we’re looking at this in the way that Brotherhood is based off the manga and follows it. I haven’t finished the manga since my sister and I (aka just my sister) doesn’t own ALL the mangas, cause some of them have dispersed sadly, but when I ca I’m trying to finish the manga. Brotherhood definitely for me though. I’m brotherhood all the way.

-- 4. Top 3 Homunculi? --

UhHhH, 3rd fav would have to be Lust, 2nd would have to be Envy and 1st is Greed, I particularly favor the second Greed, mister GreedLing. But they’re all great in their own ways.

-- 5. Something you think 03 did better? --

Oh yes, (again with the manga) I saw that FMA didn’t follow the manga precisely, but they did put some episodes in that were sort of smaller segments in the manga, such as the werehouse one and my personal favorite, episode 14. Flame vs. Fullmetal, where Roy and Ed fight based off a little murmur about people wondering who would win. Also one of the most comedic episodes people look at for Roy jokes, such as the ‘I love dogs’ and ‘Miniskirts’ lines.

OH deAR, really? OnE? HHH, I’ll have to go off the top of my head with either Dragon!Roy au or the Tattoo one where Roy gets the tattoo on his neck and he can breathe fire, either one I would love.

Gosh DiddiLy dARnit, this is hard. JeePerz, Well, definitely Central, as one of the main settings, I like most of the places East like Resembool and Ishval, I wish I got to see more Xing and Xerxes and such as well. Briggs would be somewhere on my favorites along with Dublith and Rush Valley. Geezz, I PICK ALL OF THEM?

...Maes Hughes? Sorry Envy, but, Maes is best. I loved him for 10 EPiSodeS. But Envy is a close second.

-- 19. Team Mustang or the Briggs Crew? --

Team Mustang. I love Olivier, and her team is definitely bigger and probably a bit or a loot stronger than Roy’s, I will always choose Roy’s team for sake of personal connection. He has a closer personal bond to his smaller team. Olivier has definitely made her bond clear in her team, but it’s not exactly the same kind of bond. Roy’s is almost too close for government regulations. But his is a smart well built team with mind and accuracy, although in small numbers. He has his select few and knows them well enough to know how to move them, his chess pieces of course, they never fail him. :)

Conversations from Mustang & Hawkeye Story Mode (FMA Dream Carnival Translation)

Here’s the full dialogue translation from the Royai arc of FMA Dream Carnival for PS2 as requested by @prettywitchiusaka! I went all the way and translated the prologue as well BECAUSE MAES HUGHES IS THE BEST EVER BEST FRIEND AND WINGMAN... and so you guys can understand the context of the scene with Barry the Chopper (it’s the epilogue).

In Dream Carnival, the characters form pairs (i.e. Ed x Al, Roy x Riza, Maes x Alex, Lust x Gluttony, Greed x Scar, Winry x Izumi, with the exception of King Bradley who acts as the big boss/final opponent). They fight against each other in the festival/tournament and you get to choose which pair to play as from the Main Menu.

P.S. I tried my best to preserve the tone of each character (i.e. Riza with her polite responses, Alex with his overly formal/archaic way of speaking, etc.), but it’s so difficult since some words/verb forms do not exist in English. I also included some screenshots because Roy and Riza’s reactions are adorable ^__^

in the office | PROLOGUE

Roy: *eyes closed* hmmmm...

Riza: Colonel? May I help you with something?

Roy: Ah, no. It’s nothing.

Riza: Please take care of the the matters we’ve discussed before!

*Roy leaves the office in a haste*

Riza: *confused by Roy’s behavior* ...hmmm?

*Maes pops out of the blue*

Maes: Heyyyy~! Oh! What’s the matter, Riza-chan? What’s with the troubled expression on your face?

Riza: Huh? Oh no! It’s nothing...

Riza: I’m wondering a bit since the Colonel is acting strangely.

Maes: HAHAHA! Don’t worry about it!

Maes: *talks to self* It is strange that he has not yet begun until now.

*Riza gives Maes a nasty glare*

Maes: U-uhhh. No, no! Err, it’s probably the tournament, don’t you think?

Riza: *utterly confused* The tournament?

Maes: Yup! It seems like he has not yet decided on a partner.

Maes: I would have asked him, but I already signed up with Major Armstrong.

Maes: I thought he would pair up with Riza-chan for sure.

Maes: OH~? Are you not available?

Maes: I came here as soon as I realized why Riza-chan was given the cold shoulder, although...

Riza: Yes, do you know...

Maes: *glasses sparkling* Well then, there’s that

Maes: You see, that guy was treated by Riza-chan as useless so he’s feeling quite down~

Maes: The tournament is a great opportunity to show Riza-chan that he isn’t [incompetent].

Maes: [He probably thinks that] there’s no point if he were to accept Riza-chan’s support, don’t you think so?

*Riza blushes*

Maes: Well, that’s half of it. It’s also a great place to show off to the girls.

Maes: [if that’s the case, then] being with Riza-chan might be unfavorable or something like that.

Riza: ... *glares at him*

Maes: Men have this strange pride that makes them fixated with such things

Maes: so Riza-chan, please give him your unwavering support.

Riza: ...yes.

Maes: *hearts background + huge grin* Oh, but we will achieve victory! After all, I have a gre~at ambition~

Riza: Alright. I shall let him know.

Maes: See you then~! *leaves in a hurry*

Riza: *alone in the office with a fond smile* ...how stupid.

on the train | BEFORE THE FIRST BATTLE

Roy: Standing in the battlefield with you just like this reminds me of the time when we were in the civil war.

Riza: Today is a festival. It is different from that time.

Roy: That’s true...

Maes: *butts in from nowhere* Hey, you two right there~!! You’ve got a nice atmosphere going on, not bad at all!

*Roy pouts and grumbles*

Maes: I wonder if you will be flirting [i.e. acting lovey-dovey] after you’ve defeated us...

Alex: That is IF you can bring us down, of course.

Roy: Bring it on! I will give you a taste of the power of the Flame Alchemist himself!

Maes: Afterwards, you will be in the mood for some lovey-dovey. [NOTE: another translation for イチャイチャ is making out... just so you know how devious Hughes is with his innuendoes]

Riza: *embarrassed* [We] won’t be!

somewhere in Central City | EPILOGUE

*Roy and Riza are walking down the street. Both changed into civilian clothes after the tournament*

Roy: Whew... it’s finally over.

Riza: It was really difficult to win and advance to the next round with such opponent lineup, right?

Roy: ...hey, Lieutenant?

Riza: Is there something the matter?

Roy: *turns away in embarrassment and scratches his cheek with a finger* ...would you like to evaluate [i.e. review/look over] our previous battles for a little while?

Riza: *small smile* ...Colonel

Barry: *comes in from nowhere* Siiii~s!!!

*Riza is shocked*

Riza: Barry?!

*Roy is pissed, strides towards Barry*

Barry: I watched you fight today! As expected of sis, I fell in love with you all over again!

*Roy — wearing his pyrotex glove — approaches Barry with a murderous look*

Riza: *walks away from Barry* Colonel, let’s go!!

Barry: But why?! How mean...

Riza: The colonel and I are exhausted. Can you please tone it down today?

Barry: That’s fine with me, but you’ll become even more tired if you go that way.

Fangirl 1: There she is! Ms. Rizaaaa~!!

Fangirl 2: *squeal* 1st Lt. Hawkeye~!!

Fangirl 3: Riza-samaaa~!!

Barry: Sis’ fans have been been stalking you for a while now.

Riza: *salutes all of a sudden* C-colonel! I”m sorry, but I shall escape!

Roy: O-okay!

Fangirl: Wai~iiit!!

Fangirl 1: Ms. Rizaaaa!!

*fangirls and fanboys chase after her*

Barry: *pushed aside by Riza's fans* Ugh! You’re in my way, you $*%#!! Siiii~is!!!

Roy: *looks hopeless then gazes up to the sky wistfully* Aahhh...Today’s a full moon, huh? *walks away defeated* I’m going home and sleeping.

T/L NOTES: The dialogues are too funny, especially the ones with Hughes!! He tried to explain Roy’s behavior to Riza just like he did so with Winry about the Elric brothers. I was surprised because Hughes uses Riza-chan to call her. I checked the Japanese manga, and they never had a conversation in the canon so I can’t say for certain if such name-calling is legit. I can’t say that the game is canon because the timeline is off since Maes had already passed away when Riza first encountered Barry in Central.

The best part IMO is when Roy attempts to ask Riza out for dinner with the pretext that he’d like to review their strategies and battle tactics. Then he gets all embarrassed while asking her. WHAT A DORK =)) In the end, Barry foils his plan and the colonel ends up doing home alone to sleep. Poor guy!
