Since the trailers finally released and since HBO is marketing with tb vs tg here's a reminder to NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.

There's already an alarming amount of people at each other's throats for being either of the team, let's chill out, it's a show.

This is not real life politics where you're voting, it's a show, you're not making highly important decisions, in fact; the team you are on doesn't even matter for the plot so please just be nice to one another and not lunge at someone for sharing their opinion even if you disagree with the opinion, simply take a step back and chill out.

I've seen people go to tg's trailer and comment "who is team black" and vice versa, like they are toddlers 💀, it's mainly tb going onto the tg trailer and trying to "sabotage" (Idk whatever for) by spamming tb stuff like ? This isn't middle school 💀

ALICENT IS JUST SAD GIRL CORE 😭 AND I CAN'T BELIEVE WE'RE FINALLY GETTING TO SEE SUNFYRE 💗💗💗 I'M JUST WAITING FOR ALYS APPEARANCE TOO 😩😩😩 AND I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE SHIT GO DOWNNNNNNN

night in the woods really messed me up because how was i meant to go on about my day after hearing “it was all just pixels. the characters on screen, i felt like i knew them. they weren't people anymore, they were just shapes. their lines were just things someone had written, they never existed. they never had feelings. they never would exist either, and it felt so sad. like i just lost these real people. and this whole thing we had, it was just me, alone. and like that realization like dumped out of the screen and into real life. went outside and the tree out front, i looked at it every day, it was like a friend outside the window. now it was just a thing... just a thing that was there, growing and eating and just being there. like all the stuff i felt about the tree was just in my head. and there was some guy walking by, and he was just shapes. just like this moving bulk of stuff. and i cried, because nothing was there for me anymore. it was all just stuff. stuff in the universe. just... dead."

I rewatched a few of the early episodes of spyfam today bc getting to see the movie gave me an itch to scratch, and in particular episode two made me finally able to conceptualize what about fandom twiyor that irks me so deeply. If you like widespread fandom interpretations of them I would uh, look away bc none of my opinions on it are positive.

Episode 2 of the spyfam anime remains one of my favorites because of all the little flourishes the studios add to sell you on Yor as a character while also expanding a bit on the manga's original commentary on the stigma that follows older single women. What draws Yor and Loid together as a family is that neither of them are capable of having conventional relationships. Both of them are war orphans forced to grow up far too soon and who threw away aspects of their humanity to fight for what they believe to be a better world. While Loid's position as a spy and mastery of deception allows him to avoid the stigmas that would come from the ordinary person discovering what he does, that is not something that holds true for Yor, whose weakest point is that she simply cannot understand "normal." She's aware of the way her coworkers demean her and insult her but can do nothing about it because her only conflict resolution skill is murder. She is constantly reminded that she is an outsider, hence why Loid's declaration at the party is so meaningful to her, and what convinces her to ask him to continue the facade as a married couple.

Underneath it all however, is a quiet showcase of amatonormativity that drove both Loid and Yor to their arrangement. Eden requires a student to have a perfectly nuclear family. Societal conventions dictate that Yor, happily single at 27, is someone pathetic (to her coworkers) or someone in need of help (to her brother). Marriage is an expectation that Yor is pressured to commit to, and a societal requirement that Loid must uphold for the sake of his mission. And while this showcase begins in episode 2 it is something that spyfam continues to highlight when it comes to the expectations both Loid and Yor struggle to meet when they try to hard/become to anxious over what is "expected" as a married couple vs what the other person is actually thinking/feeling.

Now, what the fuck does this have to do with fandom you ask? Here's the thing. Spyfam reached the broad range of anime fans when it exploded in popularity, which is when I started engaging with it beyond just comments on the latest manga chapters. Modern fandom already has the issue of classifying ships into tropes rather than actually like, shipping characters as they are. And that's exactly what happened with twiyor. People began going "oh my gosh this is the moment she fell for loid," "oh he's so in love with her just look at him," before we had even reached episode 10. Which was incredibly frustrating to me because clearly Loid and Yor are not anywhere near in love that soon in the story- and the basis for that frustration starts in episode 2 for me. Because Loid and Yor's marriage is one that is unconventional from the very beginning, and it is that factor that defines their dynamic an allows them to function as healthily and sweetly as they do. People don't need to be in love to be married or to be a parental unit. None of that requires romantic love, it is simply an expectation of our society, the same sort of expectation that cripples Yor and makes her think she has to find a partner, then that she has to find a husband to appease those around her. Seeing that completely erased in a large portion of art/commentary/fics written about them angers me because its something baked into the foundation of their dynamic and something I feel enhances them as a potential romantic pairing rather than detracts from it. But we can't have that because of course a man and woman living together and caring for a kid fell in love almost immediately.

And don't even get me started on how people misinterpret Loid for their far more romantic interpretations of his motivations and relationship with Anya and Yor or else I will start losing teeth from how hard I am clenching my jaw

Now, when he actually gives you what you want, he is all about making sure you're taken care of. It's hot and steamy, no more teasing. At least, not the same kind of teasing. 😉

I find it soo hilarious that Rhaenyra named her daughter Visenya and Aegon named his son Mae(l)or

to be fair, Rhaenyra had this idolisation for Visenya (hence the name) and while she was a controversial figure, she had more pros than cons. Though it's still rather bold to name her firstborn daughter like this and 100% respect for it.

Aegon had me wheezing with Maelor because there's no way he didn't do it on purpose. I feel like there was definitely a push from otto/Alicent when it comes to the first names (given how people in asoiaf use them) so firstborn son was forcefully named jaehaerys after the wise old king (as a sign of power that his son will follow the same path) and I headcanon Helaena coming up with the twist of its female form Jaehaer-a to be all cute and make her twins match.

Meanwhile with Maelor, Aegon had the opportunity to wilful and unruly and forced down his choice, instead of whatever other name his mother and grandfather had in mind.

I think still one of my biggest issues with Scarlet and Violet is it's absolutely abysmal character customization, coming off the heels of Sword and Shield which had utterly amazing customization this really feels like a disappointment. Before the games came out, I had hoped the uniforms weren't gonna be the only clothing options because as character customization has grown more and more deeper and complex, the protagonist's 'default' clothing that's used in official art/marketing have also grown more and more simpler. Compare designs like the BW/BW2 protagonists to the SWSH ones and there's a clear shift in design philosophy. So because of that, my original belief for SV was that this was just the culmination of all those years that the customization had grown so grand and vast that now the protagonists were simply presented in simple uniforms. I think it's especially disappointing considering uniforms don't HAVE to be underwhelming design wise. There could've been ways to modify your uniform, be it choosing a different undershirt, or choosing to button or unbutton your blazer. Or just make the uniforms more interesting??? School uniforms don't HAVE to be boring, series like Persona have very interesting and visually appealing uniform designs for its characters, and I know those games don't really have character customization, but when you strip down the options so little you need to change how you go about designing the options themselves.

I've always really hated reading x reader stuff (I'm a trans guy... who ends up interested in male characters... I'm sure you can assume why I'd be a bit miffed about the gender ratio on those, right. And how some/most gn!reader ones are just straight up lies or afterthoughts for what was very clearly meant to be a x female!reader — apart from the fact gn!reader fics in general are rare to see) but istg I'll fuckin do it. I WILL force myself to mentally correct everything if I have to !!!

irrelevant but i hate when podcasters / anyone in the media just assumes they know people's lives behind the scenes. i saw a clip of two podcasters (i dont know their names nor do i care to know them) talking about jeremy allen white's divorce and how they're analyzing every aspect of it. we dont know anything about their divorce, about their seperation, any of it. its between them and all that matters is they're happy and healthy and their kids are happy and healthy.

So...rant/question? I'm really not sure what to do. A couple of years ago, I interned for a food blog in my city, which back then was moderately big but now has a pretty huge readership, and I just found one of my old articles re-published under someone else's name. I started going through her profile on the site, and it looks like she's a paid worker for them (I was unpaid, which for some reason makes me more upset) and has several of my old articles on her page, word for word.

My first instinct was to be pissed, but honestly I'm not sure if it's worth making a stink about? I'm not particularly proud of the writing I did for them and don't plan on using it in any sort of portfolio or anything. I'm not even sure if it's this girl stealing my work or if the higher-ups at the blog are re-publishing it under a current employee's name just to get more views from their larger readership, and I'm a bit worried that if I email them they'll just say that since I was writing for them they have a right to re-publish? But idk, it still seems a bit wrong to me.

Sorry for the rant! I'm feeling torn and a bit panicky for some reason. If anyone has a take, I'd love to hear it! Thanks <33
