THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: S3/EP5/8 O Clock At The Oasis

Ah, I'm only two episodes away from the Dance Marathon. I am PUMPED! I hope Shane is living out her bucket list (or should I say Fucket List) because the clock is ticking for her. Original Air Date: October 22nd, 2002. The episode opens with a pretty unfunny comedic exchange between Lorelai and Rory as they head to Luke's. They arrive to find the diner unusually crowded.

An Iconic line. Welcome back, Tomatos Sign. Sun Shine. Coffee's Fine. (A Gilmore Girls Haiku)

Maybe Lorelai should have thrown some condoms at these people too. Condoms for The Hollow is my new initiave. Luke is complaining that the parent group comes in every weekend and takes up space for hours and make a mess out of his business only to order two iced teas; he is telling this to Lorelai and Rory, who take up space for hours, eat him out of house and home and never pay for their food.

Says Luke Danes about a woman breastfeeding meanwhile he doesn't try to stop this:

Another banger of a one liner.

Later, Emily calls Lorelai at work and invites her to a furniture auction. The conversation is suspiciously pleasant and Lorelai hardly even puts up a fight. She later attends the auction with Michel and has a nice time and meets Jon Hamm. But Emily Gilmore always has some kind of motive. Stay vigilant, Lorelai. Michel overhears the conversation and begs Lorelai to take him with her and she agrees. For a price.

I looked up a phone number for you, Michel.

Next scene, Lorelai meets a quirky, vertically challenged, talkative new neighbor who asks Lorelai to water his lawn while he's away and although her agreeance is once again reluctant, there is very little quibbling. Who is this doormat who is saying yes to everything without a fight (so basically, Rory), and what have you done with our Lorelai?

No, I will not. I will continue to post Crap Commentaries to Tumblr. Com until Tumblr finally, mercifully ends up in the dustbin of internet history. Or until I finish Season 3 (maybe 4). Whichever comes first. My 73 year old mom loves loves loves loves loves LOVES Jon Hamm. She definitely loves Jon Hamm more than I love Milo. So of course I've shared this episode with her a few times.

My mom gives Jon Hamm the same googly eyes whenever he's on TV. Here's some Random-Hamm Shots I sent to my mom this morning.

Jon Hamm is a babe. Let's all give it up for my mom. She has good taste. The urge to call him "Baby Jon Hamm" when he was actually 31 years old here is strong. I mean, I still call 30 year old Milo Baby Milo. He didn't shed Baby until at he was at least 35. It's a badge of honor. These fine men age like wine. Lorelai doesn't get BabyHamm's name at the auction, so now she's on a quest to figure it out, which unfortunately for her means she'll have to put the squeeze on Emily to try and get it. Whoops. My bad. She actually asks Rory to do it for her (then gets mildly irritated when Rory actually does it). Just a quick run down of all the manipulative micro transactions going on in just the first 17 minutes of this episode: Luke ---> Lorelai: Tell that woman to stop breastfeeding in my diner Lorelai ---- > Michel: You can come to the auction if you work every weekend Lorelai ----> Rory: You have to ask Grandma to get me BabyHamm's number Dwight (new neighbor) ----> Lorelai: I know you just met me but I need you to water my lawn for the next week Dwight ----> Lorelai: While you're here watering my lawn you can water my indoor plants too Then there's the whole sprinkler business... which we'll get to in time. Lorelai swallows her pride at the next FND and inquires about Paddle #17 and we find out BabyHamm's name is Peyton Sanders. Isn't he a football player? (Peyton Manning. Bad Joke.). Emily agrees to obtain his phone number for Lorelai without anything more than some light teasing . Highly suspicious.

Dwight's house is pretty rad.

Okay okay I LOVE this kind of thing. The thing being: listing all of the board games whose names I can make out. Les go. We'll finish out the post here. Some of the games, I'd assume for copyright reasons have their names cropped short or changed. Hungry Hungry Hippos became Hungry Hungry Nippos.

― a cliche superhero x civilian plot ( or a hero x villain plot ) – im a sucker for cliches. give me a scene where the civilian is patching up the hero. give me a scene that's full of tension when the civilian finds out their (friend, partner, crush, etc) is actually the city's dear hero. ― black cat x golden retriever duo – this is super simple but god it does the trick EVERYTIME ― grumpy x sunshine duo (inspired by lorelai gilmore and luke danes) – i am still very new to the series, but god i love their dynamic. the snark, the sarcasm, the deep care they share for one another. give me that and so much more.

I Am All In Rewatch - Luke & Jess- Episode 2x5

There's there's a lot of Luke in him, a lot my God, and and what a what a what just a great looking kid, right and and and it was so odd to see because he you know, I you know, I know, a smiling, happy uh Milo with a good, great disposition and loving everybody and and talking everybody up. And then you see this character and it's like that is so far from what Milo really is. And it was stunning to see it. And it was very very entertaining because it was like, wow, he's convincing me. You know, he's really really convincing me. It's a great acting job... And even when he comes up and looks at me, his attitude changed. He was like he was actually befuddled and shocked and like he'd lost some power, which you know, you would think would definitely happen if somebody pushed you into a lake..That's that's what makes him so good, right, the physicalization, the physicality of the character. So it's just shoulders down, you know, right, little slump forward and a little attitude...[What do you remember about meeting him?] Just that he was such a nice kid, you know he was he was an unusually mature outgoing but not pushy. You know. He was just sort of present and friendly and and kind of you know, engaged and sort of interested in who you were and you know, good listener, and he just it was unusual in that in that regard that he was so mature for his age. Um, and I just kept saying, well that's this, you know, every time I worked with him or talking to him. You know. My comment to Lauren was, boy, did he have good parents? You know. And I'm not saying that anybody was any less spectacular, just that in his case, it was just like this full package coming at you, like, you know, he he's like this incredible looking guy who's really smart, really nice, really talented, mature beyond his years. I mean, it was like he's going to be a superstar.. Yeah, real focused performer, you know, very focused and very you know on what he needs to do and what he's trying to do, and and it's just sort of his way of going about it too. I mean, he wasn't pushy about it, and there was sort of little suggestions he would make, little things that he needed for me, and just the way he asked it was just it was so polite, you know. He was just a very polite, gentle spirit, you know... -Scott

Hey, welcome back to GilmoreGirls101. If you don't know my blog by now, I basically just give you a quick rundown of my opinion on each character of the show. Following up on my last blog about Luke Danes, today I will be talking about Jess Mariano. Now, if you're familiar with the show, you definitely know Jess. You may even be Team Jess. Which I may or may not be. You'll see once I start talking...

So to begin, Jess is the nephew of Luke Danes. Jess is introduced into the show because he was having a rough time living with his mom and Luke was going to straighten him out. Immediately, when Jess meets Rory, we see his interest in her. They had a great connection. I loved it when Jess and Rory would talk about books, or Harvard, or writing. They both had a similar passion and, I think, that's a big reason they connected in the first place. Because Jess started asking Rory about books, and it went from there. I think Jess and Rory had so much potential, I hoped they would get back together in later seasons because it just felt so right. Although Jess made some mistakes, he was going through a lot at home and I can understand some of the decisions his character made. Even after everything, Rory and Jess could still be friends because they had that special connection, it was hard to let go of each other. But, my favorite thing about them, is they wanted each other to thrive. I knew Jess wasn't jealous when he talked about how badly he wanted Rory to go to Harvard. When Jess came back and had his iconic line, "Why did you drop out of YALE?". I once again fell in love with him, just like at the beginning of the show. I think they could've had the most epic love story, and it's a shame they lost that. In my mind, Rory finished her Gilmore Girls book, Jess read it, and fell in love. Jess comes back to see her, and they live happily ever after! If only...

Kirk's quote of the day: "My girlfriend's the whore!"

This sounds bad....... He's a strange one, Kirk, he meant well, just like Jess always meant well when it came to Rory.
