my personal ranking of the leyton seasons in oth (even though they're all good with the exception of the ones where their idiocy hurt brooke)

season six was delicious because they are so in love and in a healthy relationship and you can tell that they're meant for each other and will make each other happy forever. they're domestic and they're sweet and clearly best friends and you've never seen them happier. they're going to be such wonderful parents and it's magical to watch.

season four was also really good because of their best friends to lovers arc, it really developed their friendship and gave them a perfect slow burn where the feelings were obvious and they didn't need to be together for it to be clear how much they like each other. it was perfect, it had friendship and comfort and quality time. it's a classic example of "a love story shouldn't need a kiss/physical gesture for you to tell they're in love."

season five was good because of the ANGST, but i ranked it lower because they did hurt a really wonderful character that lucas was in a reasonably happy and actually healthy relationship with. however i won't lie the low-key toxicity was really sexy, and every moment on screen they had together was hot and magical. while peyton was unfair to lindsey at first she actually did grow and choose to be respectful this time, even if i dislike how the whole thing went down and lucas's idiotic Disaster Proposal Complex.

season three was actually pretty good and i do think brucas did play a part in that and that's the relationship that made sense at the time. it was also a dynamic i enjoyed because they did complement each other and were happy together even if they're not right for each other in the end. from a leyton pov, i loved the development of a purely platonic relationship with romantic undercutting, and how they both knew they loved each other but at the same time brooke was the person lucas currently had real romantic feelings for. it was also a great moment for them to grow separately as friends and become better people than they were in s1, and they found a platonic support system in each other that sets a great foundation for them romantically later on. i didn't like how they hid the shooting kiss from brooke but even that was such a wonderful thing to watch and i loved how much he cared for her in that moment.

season one was HOT. this ranks really low because they were immature assholes that cheated on brooke and peyton wasn't the nicest person (although i loved that about her and i get why, it made sense at the time for her to be edgier and meaner because that's what her character was at the moment). but like, their chemistry, the way she was so mean to him in the first ep, how they became friends... and the cheating was horrible of them but i won't lie it was sizzling hot even if it made them terrible people.

i don't remember them at all interacting in a very substantial way (romantically or otherwise) in s2 tbh which is why i put it here. HOWEVER i think the separation/distance was good for them.
