This is seemingly only a small insignificant interaction but it still makes me so emotional. I’ll admit, I like to compare Nathan and Lucas a lot and underline how much of a better guy Nathan is.

If this were Lucas with Brooke or Lindsey he would have made some vague excuse for why he had to leave and then he would have left to pick up Peyton, only for his girlfriend to find out later that he had been with Peyton. The way that Nathan is so honest and transparent and offers for Haley to come with him. And Haley doesn’t feel the need to go with him... she just says drop me off at the cafe. Nathan has given her no reason to be insecure or believe that he has feelings for Peyton or anyone else aside from herself for that matter, so she doesn’t feel the need to go with him. But it was nice for him to offer it and it showed transparency and honesty on his part. 

And meanwhile that big dumbass Lucas wonders why all of his girlfriends are insecure about his relationship with Peyton. It’s cause you force a connection between yourself and Peyton and refuse to include any of your girlfriends in those moments of connection.

Also Nathan doesn’t make out with other women so that’s part of the reason that Haley is more secure vs Lucas who can’t be faithful to anyone, aside from Peyton, to save his life.

Peyton: « We just carried away ... it didn’t mean anything. »

Lucas: « It didn’t? »

Peyton: « Of course it did. »

This is by no means a new groundbreaking parallel but i'm rewatching 6x23 and feeling so emo about the Nathan/Lucas/Haley/Peyton glowup.

When One Tree Hill starts (1) Nathan is dating Peyton and Lucas is highkey hitting on Nathan's girlfriend. Nathan is understandably upset... let's be real lol. (2) Lucas is BFFs with Haley James and Nathan starts to catch feels for Lucas' best friend much to the anger of Lucas... not so understandably (lol is my bias showing... ah what the hell I don't even care)

And then you flashforward to S3 and Lucas is the best man at Nathan and Haley's wedding vow renewal. Peyton is Haley's bridesmaid. Nathan and Peyton are the purest best friends with 0 romantic tension between them. Nathan and Lucas are close brothers. And then you flash forward even further to S6 and Nathan backs up Peyton and convinces Lucas not to delay his and Peyton's wedding. Haley is officiating Leyton's wedding and Nathan is the best man. The glowup!!!! 💗😍
