Unpopular opinion incoming. I’m feeling brave right now so please nobody hate me for this.

As much as I ship Bilbo and Thorin, I actually don’t think their relationship would’ve worked out if Thorin had lived. (And I say this as a hopeless romantic.) I think it would’ve turned out like the ending of La La Land.

Their paths were just too different. Bilbo was not the type to be a royal consort, ruling over others, and Thorin was not the rural, domestic type. Bilbo had a purpose in the Shire to fulfill (adopting Frodo) and Thorin had a duty to his people for which he’d spent his entire life fighting. Bilbo would never ask Thorin to give that up and come to the Shire with him, nor would Thorin, in his right mind, force Bilbo into a role for which he was not suited - no matter how much either of them may have wanted to.

Plus what if Thorin had been exposed to the Ring for years and years while Bilbo inevitably kept it with him? Especially if they both stayed in Erebor? There’s a chance it might’ve brought back the dragon sickness and torn them apart.

I think this actually adds to the beauty and complexity and tragedy of their relationship. Opposites do attract sometimes, and they were drawn to each other’s differences as well as their core similarities. But pragmatically, it’s not very likely that a long-term relationship would’ve succeeded. If Bilbo had stayed, or if Thorin had left, there would’ve inevitably been some resentment on either side, especially considering Thorin’s pride.

And the fact is I think they loved each other too much to ever demand that either of them give up his core identity for anything, even a relationship.

It was a shock to everyone when you and Harwin married - at first it was a ruse, a fake relationship to keep your sister and nephews safe. But you began to fall for Harwin. Become protective over him. It wasn't long before he felt the same way. Both of you felt as if you were betraying Rhaenyra. But soon enough ... she had found Daemon.

Sadly enough, you are not able to be around your sister as often as you'd like - the rumour mill would still be turning.

🎃...Wren's Spooktober Halloween Ships...

October is a special month, so to celebrate my birthday, halloween and my 200 followers I will be opening two limited time ships.

Hogwarts Life Ship:

So I adore Harry Potter and the Wizarding Universe so I am creating Hogwarts Life Ships but with my own not so secret little twist. If you request a Hogwarts Life Ship you will be randomly assigned 1 of 3 symbols

Now to make it interesting. This symbol will pop up somewhere random in your ship so keep your eyes open like wide open. And if you find a symbol that isn't where it's supposed to be dm and tell me where the symbol was.

If you do find it you will be entered into one of the tri-wizard tournament categories. Which means that you will receive either 1. a full one shot starring you and the idol of your choice and it can be a fluff, smut, angst, whatever you want fic with whatever plot. 2. a short drabble, or 3. A relationship headcanon either one is of a member of your choice.

Now to request for a Hogwarts Life Ship I need to know your; Hogwarts House (Unless you wish to be sorted), Patronus (if you know it), Your personality, sexual orientation (for the relationship section of your ship), appearance, likes/dislikes, your favourite Hogwarts subject, Your favourite professor, What extra curricular activities would you do at Hogwarts and anything else you feel like relates to your life as a Hogwarts Student.

And you will receive a fully nerded out comprehensive Hogwarts Life Ship with your romantic and friend life, your identity at Hogwarts, what Hogwarts clubs you are a part of, enemies or rivals, past relationships and Yule Ball Dates.

Now this can be completely random like the Idol life ships or you can choose 1-4 groups and I will include some members in the final ship. If you are requesting for a non-kpop fandom you can do this and get a spliced Hogwarts Life ship or just choose your favourite fandom to adapt into this world.

But again in the instance of kpop if you do not choose a group it will be completely randomised by my choosing like the Idol Life Ships I do

Halloween Trick or Treat Date:

Let's set the scene, Halloween is no fun without a partner by your side so instead of a Valentines Date you will have a Handsome Little Devil or a Gorgeous Ghoul (so cheesy I know let me live) who asks you to spend Halloween day with you.

In this ship you send me the same details that you would with a written or overall ship (it's your choice)- stuff like personality, likes/dislikes, mbti, hogwarts house, astrology, favourite halloween thing to do, favourite halloween costume, favourite candy, ideal date stuff like that and you will receive a ship that tells you your secret admirer, what your Halloween date, a small drabble and a moodboard and a shufflemancy song reading that says all you need to know about the vibes of your date!

Please request 1 group per ship but as soon as I am done you can keep requesting these until my special submissions are shut.

I recently turned 21! And what better way to celebrate it with my followers and friends than by doing a fun matchup game!

You can pick up to 2 different types of mini ships. But don't expect me to get into much detail on why I choose (insert character) for you since it's a mini game. Matchups, such as who's your mentor or best friend will, of course, be platonic!

Hmmmm well when it comes to shipping within LoTR at least I’m pretty happy with canon, like Aragorn and Arwen’s relationship is gorgeous, Sam and Rosie’s is adorable and meant to be and so on… but the way they snuck Pippin and Diamond into the movie 😂 only seconds and yet it’s one of my favorite moments in the movies! I’m glad Tolkien notes that Merry and Pippin wed someday because imagining the two of them in their off-screen relationships is so much fun to me! 😆 I have been tempted to write fic about it too even if it means giving up a fictional crush for it 🥺 (mostly /j 😂) Also, FARAMIR AND EOWYN?!?!?! THE SHIP?!?!?!?! The unbridled joy I felt watching ROTK extended for the first time is something I wish I could experience again. They are so cute. Probably my actual Middle-Earth OTP closely fighting with Sam and Rosie hehe

I understand where people are coming from with Sam and Frodo, but I also love healthy, non-toxic masculine friendships portrayed so I personally don’t romantically ship them, but I also support the ship and completely understand and enjoy it if that makes sense! It makes sense and has a depth that some ships people just throw together don’t. Hot take: the Thorin/Thranduil ship is one of those. I call them “Attractive People Argue Once”💀😂 no hate, I just really like ships with a connection that actually feels romantic and plausible I guess, not just calling two good looking people with radical opposition having “hot tension” 😅😆

Ok how about a hobbit and lotr match. I'm hetro-orented aroace. I'm on the autistic spectrum. People describe me as a kind and polite with a tendency to mind my own business. While I tried to treat people the way I want to be treated it takes awhile for me to fully trust a person. I enjoying reading, write, playing games, doing crafts, and nature. I also recently started doing martial arts classes. I work for a library as a clerk.

Lord of the Rings: Eomer

Eomer would fall for your kind heart and enjoy spending time with you. Listening to you talk about the stories you would read, and he too would share stories that he grew up hearing. He’d love to take you for walks around Rohan, showing you many beautiful gardens and pathways leading to and from the kingdom. He would feel quite comfortable with you, knowing that you would make an effort as a polite person. He would understand why it would take you a while to trust another person, so he would let you take your time to get to know him, especially because he would never want you to feel uncomfortable with him.

At first he would be very protective towards you since, the battles were worsening in Rohan. Whenever he would find out that you were learning martial arts, it would bring his mind to ease. He would find it quite interesting, and even ask if you could demonstrate one of your drills. Once realizing how affective they were, Eomer definitely would be asking for you to teach him a few things. He'd often find himself bragging to the other soldiers about how skilled you already were.

The Hobbit: Fili

I really hope you liked your matchups!

Fili would find himself falling for you fairly quickly. He would want to get to know you better, especially since he found you as a quite interesting person. He’d enjoy spending his time with you, hearing about all the things that you were interested in. Fili would find you quite fun to be around, since you both could play games together, wander around in nature. He'd love that you two could share that connection and love for nature.

He would know that you were the one, especially since you were such a kind hearted person. He couldn’t help but fall for you, though he would be very patient and understanding if you didn't share those same feelings with him yet. He'd reassure you that, there's all the time in the world and that at this moment the two of you could just focus on having some fun. Fili would also be quite stunned whenever he'd find out that you were capable of performing martial arts. He definitely would not expect it at first, but he'd be more than impressed.

I ship every canonical Tolkien couple - except Aerin & Brodda, Aredhel & Eöl, and Tar-Míriel & Ar-Pharazôn. Those poor ladies deserved so much better than those pathetic a-holes.

(I also kinda think Melian could’ve done better than Thingol.)

These are the “non-canonical” Tolkien pairings that I ship, since nobody asked.

Frodo x Sam (it’s literally canon, period, forget the “non-canonical” category, it’s right there, it’s real)

Frodo x Sam x Rosie (Sam being shared during that year in Bag End; also all but spelled out)

Bilbo x Thorin (obviously; even in the book, it’s subtextual, but it’s THERE)

Fingon x Maedhros (Beren/Lúthien + Frodo/Sam parallels are no joke; yes yes i know i know they’re first cousins and that should be a dealbreaker, and for a while it was for me, but technically they’re HALF-cousins, they only share one grandparent, and it’s not like they can procreate together, so it’s very different from what it would be if one of them was female, also their story is inherently tragic and I think their being related adds to that)

Túrin x Beleg (also, obviously; i mean Túrin only thought he loved Níniel because he felt some kind of connection with her but misinterpreted it in his desperation to get over Beleg)

Finrod x Bëor (yes, Finrod loved Amarië too, and they definitely got their well-deserved happily ever after when Finrod was re-embodied…BUT look at what Bëor did for Finrod and how Finrod lost Bëor to mortality but then laid down his life for Bëor’s descendant; the angst is just too juicy to ignore)

I do not ship Merry and Pippin at all; not only are they full blooded first cousins, but since Merry is an only child and Pippin only has sisters, they very clearly fill that “brother” role in each other’s lives.

After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that queerplatonic Legolas/Gimli makes the most sense to me. They also fill the “brother” role in each other’s lives since they both have no blood siblings. I understand why many people do ship them romantically/sexually, but the thought of anything sexual between them just doesn’t feel right to me, personally. Even the thought of kisses just doesn’t seem to fit them, IMO; they’re about mutual respect and sharing quality time, rather than anything physical. To me they exemplify “heterosexual life partners” perfectly.

my brother just called me late at night, barely able to get two words out because he was laughing so hard. Finally, through the wheezing, he told me “go google the new Gollum game. Please”

So I did. And now I just spent half an hour on the phone nearly dying. We just kept sending eachother pictures of Gollum from the game and LOSING IT all over again. I haven’t laughed this hard in YEARS.
