Just think of how many times Faramir must’ve drawn attention to the fact that it was his wife who took down the Witch-king of Angmar. He never left a room until he was certain that its occupants knew and respected his wife for what she did. He was just the proudest husband in all of Middle-Earth.
He heard someone on the street telling the story of the great siege of Gondor. He stayed silent through all the parts with him in it. But when it got to the part where the Witch-king was finally killed, he interrupted the story to say to the listeners, “That was my wife. My wife did that. She did that and then she chose me, of all men.”
He told the story himself to their children and made sure they knew and remembered, “That was your mother. Your mother did that.”
He heard his adult children tell the story to their own children in his later years and called out from his lounge chair in front of the fireplace, “Your grandmother did that.”
He read Pippin’s copy of the Red Book that he brought to Gondor, skipped ahead to that part, pointed at the page, and said, no matter if he was with someone or alone in the room, “I’m married to that woman.”
And every time this happened, when they were in their prime, and when they were old and wrinkled, Eowyn always blushed the same blush and said “will you ever shut up about that and let me brag about how my husband resisted the Ring and saved the world?” And Faramir always kissed her and replied, “Never.” It was the only request he ever denied her.

A quiet corner in the houses of healing... moments before a fateful introduction...
Still having fun with style exploration :) the bg was inspired by/a semi-study of the work of Loïc Locatelli Kournwsky :>

Can’t stop thinking about a very specific dynamic
A healer and a knight fall in love.
The healer spends hours healing everyone but themselves. Caring for the sick, stitching wounds, setting bones, pushing dislocated limbs back into place. Wearing themselves to exhaustion.
The knight gently tends to the healer. Holds them in a hot bath, rubbing the soreness from their muscles under the warm water. Applies balm to their chapped fingers. Brings them tea and tucks them into bed before climbing in beside them.
The knight defends everyone. Fights off the enemy with a sword and a shield, takes the blows intended for someone else, holds the line until help arrives, fights through any and all injuries they need to in order to defend those under their protection.
The healer defends the knight when they’re down for the count. When the knight collapses, the healer takes up their sword and defends them until they get back to their feet. If someone dares to say anything against their knight they get in their faces and the healers words are sharp and cold as any blade, cutting deep into their opponent.

éowyn: (in the houses of healing recovering from her broken arm, probably hasn’t slept well in days, is in the worst possible shape of her life)

Aragorn is a trans man,Arwen is a trans woman they are kissing and holding hands.
Legolas and Gimli are married and gay and somehow in elf heaven.
Eowyn and Faramir are girl boss and male wife and they are cuddling and they both have complicated relationship with gender due to trauma.
IT DOESN'T MATTER what Frodo and Sam are because the main thing is that it doesn't matter in what way they love each other it matters that they love each other.
This is lord of the rings.
and also Gandalfs gay.

And Éowyn looked at Faramir long and steadily; and Faramir said: 'Do not scorn pity that is the gift of a gentle heart, Éowyn! But I do not offer you my pity. For you are a lady high and valiant and have yourself won renown that shall not be forgotten; and you are a lady beautiful, I deem, beyond even the words of the Elven-tongue to tell. And I love you. Once I pitied your sorrow. But now, were you sorrowless, without fear or any lack, were you the blissful Queen of Gondor, still I would love you. Éowyn, do you not love me?'    Then the heart of Éowyn changed, or else at last she understood it. And suddenly her winter passed, and the sun shone on her.

One of my absolute favorite lines of Éowyn’s is one that is so simple yet so meaningful.
“I desired to be loved by another. But I desire no man’s pity.”
Note the past tense in the first sentence. She’s telling Faramir that she doesn’t love Aragorn anymore, that she’s over him. She’s intentionally opening the door for him to admit what she already suspects are his true feelings for her.
Yet she still stands her ground. She doesn’t want to be seen as pathetic. She knows her feelings and thoughts are valid, and will not be told otherwise.
In few words, she is saying to Faramir that she is indeed opening her heart to him, but won’t hesitate to reject him if he will look down on her for all her suffering and struggles. She loves him, but has enough self-respect to turn away if he proves to not be good to her.
And Faramir, of course, passes her test with flying colors.
