SaL anon here friend, hoping that the concert was as spectacular as it looked, even more so in person (if not your outfit definitely was 👍🏽)!! Sorry about not sending an ask earlier, I got sick...again. Anyway I let's talk about 6x11 for a bit because I have a LOT of feeling about it but mostly I'm confused. Nothing about this episode made sense, from the concept itself to its ultimate outcome.

Let's start with concept, which was Buck does "Its a Wonderful Life". So firstly, as I believe you pointed out, Buck isn't exactly comparable to a suicidal business owner. In fact Buck is happier than he's been for awhile, so why this style? His "what if" about Daniel happened last episode after 2 seasons of nothing, he's secure at the firehouse, so what exactly is he questioning? But okay, whatever, this has been on his mind for 2 years (with no indication it was). Buck learns he's happy but others are sad, so he goes back. So ignoring the insult to both Bobby and especially Eddie that their current situation depends entirely on Buck and there weren't other people in their lives that also were looking out for them, how is this progress? First there's the fact that Buck's returning FOR other's to be happy, this is what he does and its not good for him!! Second, the fact that this version of himself isn't particularly appealing to present Buck so he isn't really giving anything up either, so how is this a choice? Finally, Buck himself knows its all in his head!! Its not a given that things will go this way, its just his imagination, logically why put any weight on this at all. The only conflict at the end was does Buck want to live or die and he's not suicidal so its not an actual choice. There is no drama to this and it falls absolutely flat.

So let's say the point is to reconcile him and his parents and understand that it was Daniel's death that made them act the way they did. So are we saying Buck's feelings as a result of that don't matter? Hell, why even have a 2 episode setup in S4 if we're going to magic this issue away with a coma dream (trying to hold back about Chim having a setup with his dad involving similar screentime just for those issues to be waved away as the tertiary plot of someone else's episode)? Wouldn't an actual conversation be more meaningful? The best theory I've seen is that Buck recognizes the significance of his found family while acknowledging he can allow his relationship with his bio family to heal. Great, except the way the episode concluded with the Buckley's being the primary focus doesn't send that message at all. It makes no damn sense!!

And look, as sexy as evil!Buck is, why is he even there. The evil other half trope is to use your insecurities to have you make the "wrong" choice. So how exactly does it work that evil!Buck tries to convince real!Buck that he should stay because "no one needs him", we have half the firefam gone in his dream which immediately negates this idea, AND have Buck say he's going for himself which would hit better if I could figure out when the fuck in the episode he decided this. I mean if its simple I want to live scenario did we need a whole coma dream to get here, Eddie did it over a shortened version of "Carry You". If its to hit the way Eddie's conversation with Ramon hit last season, where the hell is the half season buildup for Buck to realize this?? Sure magic coma dream is fun concept but it fucking needs to make sense and this doesn't!!

Anyway this is way too long and you likely won't have a chance to answer it before next episode but i thought i'd put it out there. Also if your wondering why its one big ask Tumblr stopped letting me post on anon from my phone so I finally made an account (in case you're wondering why someone with a weirdly science specific account is following you).

Hello my friend! The concert was phenomenal! It was like when you run into that super complementary drunk girl in the bar bathroom who tells you your outfit is amazing and you're a beautiful soul, but like, a whole stadium of that. SO many people were dressed up in costume and everyone was just vibing and having a great time. I got a friendship bracelet from a girl who was like, 8. It was a great time even before the show, and then the whole show was just breathtaking! Worth every (considerable) penny. 10/10 would do it again.

I'm sorry you got sick again! 😭 that's no fun! But I definitely wouldn't have gotten to your ask before today anyway since I spent all day yesterday driving and didn't get home until after midnight. But yes, let's talk about 6x11 because "confused" is exactly the right word and how I was feeling and it was soooo frustrating because it kept pulling me out of the episode and then consequently, because of the confusion and messy writing, the emotional beats just didn't land right. And I hate that because Buck learning that he is enough as he is, is SUCH an important theme for him and something I've been wanting for him for a WHILE and I hate that the episode as a whole just...didn't work, and didn't give the firefam care and concern it should have because it prioritized a storyline no one even asked for or wanted and that hasn't come up in like, 2 seasons. (We're supposed to get more firefam care and concern tonight but like, I'm not holding my breath, especially with it being the "fun" part of an otherwise heavy episode.)

"There is no drama to this and it falls absolutely flat" is SUCH a good way to describe this whole thing! Like, right off the bat, Buck knows it's not real so that takes 99.9% of the drama out of the "scary" revelations. No version of an ideal world for Buck includes Bobby being dead, Maddie being trapped with Doug (and unlikely to escape with a child involved and a family that thinks things are fine), and Eddie losing Chris, so there's no question he would even WANT to stay, especially with his parents suddenly being everything he ever wanted anyways! And as you said as well, Buck isn't struggling with his place at work, or his place with the firefam, or even, apparently, with his decision to donate sperm and have a bio child out there in the world that he's just totally cool walking away from! So...what IS he questioning? If they wanted to do an episode about him not feeling like enough why not do it after, say, he tries to donate and it doesn't work, or the family history is a deal breaker, or he decides he can't do this and his old "friend" lashes out at him? OR right after he feels like Bobby doesn't see him as captain material? Put THIS storyline in 6a and it makes far more sense than it does here when Buck is in a really good place! And this was the first of the mixed messages with Buck saying the words he's going back for himself because he's enough as he is, while the whole episode said something entirely different which was that without Buck, no one else would have been happy or even survived, so he's just going back to a world where the people he loves are safe and happy, which is....not really choosing HIMSELF so much as choosing a world were the people he loves are happy.

Which leads to your next point and the next mixed message which was his parents being suddenly the perfect parents in both the coma and real world, while also trying to say that Bobby was his parent and the firefam the ideal family he's always wanted, that are just waiting for him to come back to him. And by trying to do both, the did neither. The firefam got sidelined for the Buckley parents, and the Buckley parents were too busy having to be perfect to actually own up to their mistakes and give their kids a chance to be angry and talk about how they felt! It became a "they're trying so we just need to let it go". Same with Chim and his dad! And all that undercut Buck's choice as well, AND it was his parents only caring about him when he was hurt, all over again! I said in the tags of another post if they had even just dropped hints the past two seasons that Buck was still doing therapy with his parents, and had a good Buck/Maddie convo about how he understands his parents better now and therapy has really helped them communicate better and they understand now how hurt he was by their actions, this would have made more sense, AND given CHIM'S storyline with his dad some time to breathe. Hoping we get more of that but...I doubt it. Again, things that are apparently happening in people's heads but never making it to screen don't count as growth and telling a good story! And it absolutely undermined the WHOLE story of Bobby being a dad for Buck, when he wasn't even in the room for Buck waking up or the one to take Buck home with him when he was released from the hospital, and it undercuts Buck having the family he already wants to NOT see ALL of the firefam taking turns at his bedside to talk to him about what he means to them. (DID WE EVEN GET A BUCKAROO?!)

That conversation at the end between Buck and his mind could have been SOOOO good, because it's something that NEEDED to happen, but the writing was so all over the place all episode and all season that it just didn't land or make sense! Like you said, there's nothing to entice him to stay in the dream world that he already knows is fake and that doesn't have all the people he loves in it, and Buck hasn't been reckless or passively suicidal in ages so it felt like he was fighting so hard for just...no reason. And don't get me started on this being his subconscious and the kind of message that sends about what he thinks about people because while I think it was an oversight by the writers room and not purposeful, surely someone should have caught it? They literally get paid to do this for a living, and NO ONE said anything about that OR about the way the writing contradicted itself the whole damn episode?

I'm just....really disappointed that an episode that COULD have been about the power of found family and the firefam's love for their Buckaroo just for being himself, and about Buck's acceptance of his messy life leading him to the right place and right people and that he doesn't NEED to reconcile with his parents to live a happy life, he can just let that hurt go with some grace and understanding but not a thing he wants or needs to carry for them any longer, turned into...this mess. And the acting was SO GOOD too! Oliver and Peter were just ON IT all episode, and Maddie was making everyone cry, and the brief moments of the rest of the firefam were loaded with the emotion that should have carried the whole episode, but the writing just took the legs right out from under every firefam and Buck focused scene and kept all of it from carrying the weight it should have. And the camera work?! The props?! The flashbacks?! Top tier work! So so good! Literally could have been one of the best episodes ever, but it was just SO let down by the contradictory writing and trying to push this Buckley parents resolution after dropping the plot entirely with no mention for 2 seasons and then pretending that their behavior was normal. And actually having Maddie, Buck, and Chim ALL point out that it WASN'T normal and then just...never following up on that and making it out like THEY are the ones in the wrong! I just...😤😤😤😤😤

ANYWAY

Here's hoping for some good firefam food this week. I wish I could care more about this Wendall storyline but considering we knew he existed for all of 2 minutes before he was killed off I just...don't. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The King: Eternal Monarch

What follows is a stream-of-consciousness, spoiler-filled bunch of thoughts and theories about TKEM, which I can’t stop obsessing over. I knew it was a mistake to start this show instead of waiting to binge it! It’s the first K-drama I’ve watched in ‘real time’ and the wait between episodes is KILLING ME!!

Overall, though, I’m really enjoying this show. It’s right up my alley (which is why I couldn’t wait to start watching it): magical realism, parallel worlds, time travel, a dashing King and a capable, no-nonsense heroine. The plot is really intriguing and there have been some great twists and genuinely heart-pounding sequences so far. It’s also GORGEOUS to look at and there’s a great streak of humour.

I admit I found the romance a bit lacking at the start. It felt a little rushed, to be honest. I could see why Gon would be instantly smitten with Tae-eul - she’s been in his head for 25 years and when he finally found her, she was smart, spunky and treated him in a refreshingly frank and ‘real’ way - so different from all the fawning adoration he was used to in Corea.

So the fact that it was Tae-eul who was the first to say ‘I love you’ was a little jarring and it seemed to come out of the blue. But I went back and binged just their scenes together for all 12 episodes, and I could see the connection better.

She comes to realise that fate has dropped this guy in her lap - this amazing, smart, funny, handsome, rich, cool guy - and she also has the sense that it can’t end well between them. So, at first she retreats from him; when she’s in Corea the first time, she keeps asking to see her ID badge - the pretence for her being there and the only thing stopping her from leaving. It’s clear that she’s trying to protect herself. She doesn’t want to get too close to this guy when there is no future. So she leaves without giving him a sense that she returns his feelings in any deep way.

But then she can’t get him out of her head, and has weeks to think about how she left things with him and how she might never see him again (he did go off to battle after all). When he finally returns, and she sees him just standing there in her yard…she decides to go all in. “It is better to have loved and lost…” as the saying goes.

And I like that this is where the show chose to go. It’s not a story about will they/won’t they. It won’t end with them declaring their love. They’ve already done that. This is a show about two people who desperately WANT to be together - and are really great together - but the universe is trying to tear them apart. And I’ve really enjoyed the scenes of them attempting to have a normal life - they’re so easy and natural together and the show has done such a good job, with relatively little screentime, of showing how well they work as a couple. They make each other laugh, they’re impressed by each other, and they can confide and support one another.

And that’s why these last few episodes have been so heartbreaking.

Lets talk about that scene in the bamboo forest, when they briefly reconnected. Tae-eul absolutely broke my heart in this moment. I do wish the show did a better job of conveying how much time passes between Gon’s visits - is it weeks, months?? - but even without a definite timescale, the actress absolutely sold that it had been a significant period of time and she missed him so, so much. It was beautifully done. And it did nothing to advance the plot - it was just a tiny moment to show how much these two love and miss each other. I’m glad the writers have remembered that this show is about the characters as much as its about the Lee Lim/murdering dopplegangers plot.

And then what about this:

When I first saw it, I assumed Gon was crying with grief over his uncle. And I thought it was a nice way of calling back the conversation between PM Koo and Court Lady Noh - that Gon would never cry in front of Koo, proving that she is not the woman for him. But here he is shedding tears with Tae-eul, and bringing her flowers from across the universe.

But now that we know this is Gon from the future, his words and his tears have much, much more poignancy. It’s turned a sad scene into a gut-wrenching one. This felt very much like a last goodbye: bringing her the flowers he never brought, finally being able to tell her how much he loved her, and sharing one final kiss.

So what the hell has happened to this Gon? It appears that he loses Tae-eul at some point…either through her death or some other permanent separation. And why is he in that particular coat? I think it’s his wedding outfit (worn ‘at the most glorious moment’). We know he tends to get ahead of himself - she hasn’t agreed to marry him, but he’s already declared that she is the future Queen, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s already got the royal tailors working on his outfit!

But that brings me to the awful theory that he is marrying PM Koo in the future, which is why he feels the need to have a final moment of closure with Tae-eul. We know Koo has her eye on the crown, and its possible she blackmails him into marriage e.g. by threatening to expose the parallel world.

The other heartbreaking moment in this last episode was the photograph scene. Gon has already worked out that they can’t keep using the gateway between the worlds. Each time they do, time stops for longer and longer (I love that he is a mathematician, and his logical brain figures this stuff out so quickly. Its refreshing to have a lead who knows almost as much as the audience does and you’re not constantly waiting for him to catch up and clue in).

So during this latest time-freeze, he can’t help but cry. It a lovely juxtaposition with the first time he’s with a motionless Tae-eul. Back then, he was full of wonder at the beauty of the moment. Now, it’s just a reminder that their time together is limited.

Each moment they share together is now touched with bittersweetness and an air of melancholy and its bloody PAINFUL to watch. The angst in this show is tearing my heart out!!

This moment was a bit lighter, and I’m glad they’ve moved their relationship forward in this way. It was a bit ridiculous that they’re in love, finally together in the same world, they both know time is running out…and yet they’re still being so platonic! C’mon, I know this is a k-drama (which are super-PG)…but this was starting to stretch my credulity!

And…wild baseless theory coming up…could she be pregnant as a result?? The doctor made a point of saying she was on antibiotics (which stops birth control working) and there’s a tiny snippet in the trailer where she says ‘I think I’m-‘. So, my mind couldn’t help but go there! Because this show doesn’t have enough angst!!

(Extremely wild, baseless theory number 2…could yo-yo boy be their child? He belongs to both worlds, which would make sense if his parent were from both worlds too…and he has that connection with Luna…

No. I don’t like this theory at all, because he’s obviously not been raised with his parents which means a super-sad ending is coming. And he seems a bit more like a God-like character than a mortal boy, so I’m probably waaaay off track, and I really hope I am).

My last point (and, boy did this get long!) is that I struggle to see how the show can possibly tie everything up in just 4 episodes. We have Lee Lim’s plan that has barely come into play, all the dopplegangers to sort out, Shin-Jae’s background to explore, Lady Noh’s background (!), PM Koo’s ambitions, who saved 8-year old Gon, and of course, how Gon and Tae-eul will resolve their star-crossed lovers thing.

It’s either going to end tragically, or there’ll be loose ends…or they might be setting up a season 2. If that’s the case I’ll be PISSED! One of the reasons I became addicted to K-dramas is how they (usually) tell a complete story in 1 season. There’s a clear, satisfying ending and it doesn’t get dragged out for multiple years.

There’s also the risk that there won’t BE a season 2. I gather the show is popular on Netflix, but I see things on twitter about it not doing well in South Korea. For such a lavish, expensive show, is a second season even guaranteed?

UGH, I need to have a happy ending guys!

Personal Thoughts on... Hot Couture

Note: As the title says, these are just personal opinions on Choices books and chapters. Of course, you may agree or disagree with them, I only use this platform to express my thoughts on what I read every week and what I’d like to see in the next chapters, because none of my friends play Choices so I have no one to comment the books with.

First, please note that this post may have some spoilers… I tried to do my best to avoid them as much as possible, but it’s quite hard, so I thought about letting you know because not everyone has access to the VIP books and I don’t mean to be disrespectful because I seriously hate it when people release spoilers without an alert.

Second… it’s been a long time! I’ve been working on a couple of posts, but I feel that everything regarding Choices has been so tense in the last two months that I decided to just read the weekly releases and keep myself out of Tumblr. I’ve been waiting for the right moment to post them, so maybe soon I’ll do something about it (I’m also waiting to read all the fan fictions I know I’ve been missing!).

Third… yup, I got the VIP. So I’ll do my best to catch up on the VIP books as soon as possible so maybe you can have an idea about it when trying to decide whether to get it or not. I also hope to make a long review on the whole VIP experience as soon as I finish all the three books that have been fully released, but today I’ll be reviewing only the first book I finished: Hot Couture.

I’m not going to lie: based on the comments of people who first tested the books, I didn’t have high expectations on this story, that’s why I read it first (basically, I wanted to get rid of it). But to my surprise, I ended up being super invested in it (and a little sad because it’s a standalone). The book is also genderlocked, so this might kill your mood if you’re a guy who enjoys playing as a male character. We have three main LIs (Marco, Travis and Luz) but we also have a chance to have some fling with Hazel, our boss. The story is placed somewhere after Red Carpet Diaries 2 (and maybe even after RCD 3), as there is a Chris Winters appearance that gives us some hints (our MC has already watched “The Last Duchess” and Chris’ baby is apparently eating food already) and the main plot is about our MC (her default name is Emma Moore) who moves from Connecticut to New York to try to pursue a career as a fashion designer. Her goal is to get a job at Hazel Boutique, where her college friend Luz already works in the business department. But things don’t go as expected and she ends up becoming a model.

There are so many things I enjoyed about this book! First of all, without being a mind-blowing story, I think it’s pretty well-written. Then, the chapters are long. This is actually cool because even if you don’t use diamonds, every character has their own time to develop (and yep, all three main LIs have similar screentime), so when you finish the book, you don’t feel like there are plot holes or unsolved questions regarding anyone… I mean, I would have loved to see a second book just to follow the evolution of the characters (especially of the MC), but it works pretty well as a standalone as well. Your enemies are pretty clear (or they’re very predictable) since the first chapter, so don’t expect huge plot twists on that matter. Also, I’ve been noticing that during the last few months it’s getting harder to access our closets to change our MC’s clothes as much as we want to. Well, Hot Couture goes back to the old closet system and you can mix and match your hairstyles and clothes as you please throughout the story. And finally… our MC can wear glasses! That’s a HUGE “yes!” from me!

Of course, not everything is perfect. As you can imagine, most of the diamonds are spent in clothes and hairstyles, so this is a pretty expensive book, as you’re basically buying new outfits and/or hairstyles almost every single chapter (the basics are pretty cute though! Not spectacular, but cute). Of course, we also have a “mood board” that we must complete to have access to some exclusive scene at the end of the book (I usually complete them because I’m a sucker for extra scenes, but I’m getting tired of having to collect stuff in almost every single book). Don’t expect new faces, at least when it comes to the MC (they reuse the Bloodbound faces). I would have loved to see a deeper insight of the problems that models must face; I mean eating disorders, rivalries, the stress of feeling that you’re “disposable” for the industry, and so on… I think they tried to do that with Cleo, one of the models, but it was very superficial, so they missed a great opportunity there. And as per the LIs, they’re all pretty cool people as friends and significant others (by the way, don’t expect the 30 diamond scenes to be like the ones in “The Nanny Affair”… they’re probably more like “The Freshman” style), but things seemed a little rushed by the end of the book. The stories were developing at a nice pace, but in the end, I felt like the writers realized they were running out of chapters and tried to speed things a little bit, but it felt a little forced in my opinion (maybe it would have worked better with one extra chapter).

I had a blast reading this story; I can’t even remember when was the last time that it only took me a few days to finish a book. Sure, it’s a romance book (and I’m a sucker for romance books), but as the main focus is not on romance, it’s pretty enjoyable even if you want to remain single or you don’t care about romance at all. The fact that you can change your look or reuse your clothes as many times as you want is also very, very nice. And finally, the secondary characters (there are a lot!) are pretty important in the story, so you don’t feel like they’re unnecessary people in the plot. Not a masterpiece, but a pretty enjoyable story that I might even replay in the future to try some new choices.

ahhh i’m so sorry it took me FOREVER to get to this, but thank you for giving me these characters in specific and also i’m apologizing now for how long this is gonna be let’s begin

Why I like Eddie and Mike

They are HANDS DOWN the best characters of the 7 of them hands DOWN.

Eddie in the book is the BIGGEST badass, not only did he LAUGH IN HENRY BOWERS’ FACE when he broke his arm at 11 years old, he KILLED bowers 27 years later right after bowers broke the same arm in the same place, by smashing his classy glass Perrier against his bedside table and stabbing bowers to death with the remains :)

Mike Hanlon is the reason the book happens AT ALL. He’s essentially the narrator. And he is the final member of the losers club, they save his life from bowers and co, and he automatically knows he can trust them and they all know, like magic, that their group is complete and that was so fuckin sweet to me. He often puts his body in the way to protect Eddie and Stan and AHHH

In the book there’s this scene where he faces Pennywise as a giant bird that’s terrifying and I can’t describe it but Mike is just SO smart and brave

In the book when the losers decide to fuckin hotbox their underground clubhouse hoping to get high enough to see the origins of IT and it fuckin works, but Richie and Mike are the only ones who can stand it anymore in there to actually SEE anything

In the book when they’re fighting IT as kids and pennywise turns into that bird again and swoops down for Eddie, and Mike is so worried the bird will just take him that he rolls his body over Eddie’s

ummm i hc that Eddie develops an almost INSANE need for thrills after they defeat Pennywise for good and he wants to get tattoos and try smoking and he gets a motorcycle to go real FAST, and richie is not only supportive, but stupid, so they have a lot of dumb matching tattoos and a motorcycle they’re trying to get rid of like a year later :)

I hc that Mike always wanted to be a vet or something with animals, but he just never got to :( but when they finally defeat pennywise, Bill supports his dream to care for animals :)

Unpopular opinion

I love soft!Eddie! I know that’s like,,, not cool to say in the fandom these days but that’s literally the coolest most rebellious thing about Eddie is that despite it ALL he still chooses to be soft and kick your ass lovingly

And for Mike, it’s so hard bc he got so little attention or screentime or ANYTHING that actually let him be a character, so my main opinion for him is that he deserved better but that’s not unpopular lol

A wish

I wish that Eddie had been allowed to not be a raging asshole and then a coward for like all of Chapter 2, and I wish that Mike’s character hadn’t been somehow turned into crazy man who steals from Natives and “lies to his friends” lol

What are your answers to those 20 questions? Im planning to add my own answers too (even though nobody asked lol)

I got another ask for some of the numbers but I’m just gonna do this one because it’s all of them.

1) Favorite character? Jonathan, hands down. He’s so underrated. I love him with all my heart.

2) Favorite season? Even though I love Season 1 and the amount of thought that was actually put into the writing, I’m gonna say Season 2 because I really loved that season and a lot of amazing things happened in that season (mostly the Jancy kiss lol but other things too)

3) Favorite scene? Oof that’s a hard one. I really like the exorcism scene from S2 with Joyce, Jonathan, Nancy and Will (Noah Schnapp did amazing, all of the actors in this scene were phenomenal, Winona, Charlie, and Natalia and especially Noah). I also obviously love the Jancy first kiss, and how passionate it is (and scene directly before and morning after scene lol).

4) Favorite 80s song from the album? Even though it was used for Stancy (sigh), I am a sucker for Africa, I’ve loved that song since before Stranger Things. But I also love Should I Stay Or Should I Go and how significant it is to the show.

5) Favorite ship? I think it’s obvious to anyone who’s seen my blog lol, Jancy obviously. And it’s canon so there’s that.

6) Favorite outfit? Oh gosh, literally any of Jonathan’s sweaters cuz he looks so cute in them. I also really liked Joyce’s S3 look, she was a cutie. And I liked Nancy’s dresses in S3, they were cute. I like a lot of the outfits tbh (Max always has cute outfits, and El in S3).

7) Favorite antagonist? Can I say just Hawkins Lab in general? I miss S1 and S2 when you never knew what the Lab was gonna do next, it made for a good antagonist. The Russians didn’t seem all that mysterious tbh.

8) Scoops Troop, Griswold Family, or Eagle’s Nest? Griswold Family for sure! Jancy and the kids will always be superior! I wish they got more screentime, especially after the hospital scene. I also wish the siblings actually acknowledged each other.

9) Who’s your favorite actor? Charlie!! I mean, all of the actors are amazing, but I’m starting to really appreciate Charlie Heaton. For one thing, I love British boys, and for another, I just think he’s a phenomenal actor and he’s really good at showing his emotions. I wish the writers gave him more to work with.

10) Most badass Hawkins lady? Oh dang, that’d have to be a tie between Joyce and Nancy. I just love how Joyce would do anything for her kids, including go into an unknown dimension with the possibility of being Demogorgon lunch. Also, when she punched the mayor, gosh, that was amazing. And Nancy, when she stood in front of the car and just shot at Billy when he was racing towards her, I was so proud (and also scared for Nancy’s life). And “Let’s burn that lab to the ground”, I love her, she’s such a badass.

11) Favorite mom? (By the way person who made the questions, Steve’s not a mom!) I love Joyce! She is the World’s Greatest Mom™️! Sure, she has some problems, but she would literally do anything for her kids and I love that! Also, she’s so chill, like Jonathan had a girl over and she totally knew and didn’t care! My mom would literally kill me lol. I love Joyce.

12) Saddest scene? Oh gosh that’s hard. Bob dying was really sad to me, but I actually genuinely cried at the S3 ending. Not because of Hopper’s letter but because the Byers are moving! Like I get why but it’s still so sad seeing everyone say goodbye to each other, like come on Joyce, look how sad they all are :(

13) Any merch? So, because I’m fairly new to this fandom, I don’t have much. I seriously watched the whole show for the first time in April because quarantine and my friend wanted me to watch it, so I did, I’ve binged it at least 4 times though already during quarantine. However, since I recently graduated from high school and was given a lot of graduation money that I had no idea what to spend on (yes, I set some aside for college), I bought some merch. I bought a S3 poster from Walmart. I bought a Steve Funko online. For my birthday, which was in June, my friend gave me a Scoops Ahoy shirt and pin. My boyfriend gave me a Robin Funko (he said he was gonna get me Jonathan but they didn’t have anymore of his 1 single Funko, rip). And then my sister and I went to Hot Topic and I got two shirts, one that just has the Stranger Things logo and the other has the Griswold Family on it (seriously, I saw Nancy and Jonathan on it and I screamed). That’s it. Oh, and then my sister gave me some Stranger Things decals for my birthday which I put on my laptop. And then my sister’s friend gave me a sticker with Robin on it, and that’s on the back of my phone. That’s it. That’s all the merch.

14) Favorite line? I’m sorry but my favorite line will forever be, “So, Jonathan, how was the pull-out?”. That line is literally the most clever innuendo I have ever heard. And I love Jonathan’s reaction to it. And Nancy’s little smirk. I may be pretty innocent, but I understood that line the second I heard it. And I love that it’s for Jancy. If it was for any other couple, I might not have laughed as hard as I did, but it was still hilarious, imo.

15) Contributed to the fandom? Again, I’m pretty new to the fandom. I did write a fanfic, but it never got posted because my computer decided to delete it for some reason. I’m not good at art, so no on that. I did make a Tik Tok though. You can check it out, my name is @camree_nicole. The Tik Tok literally blew up (like seriously most of my videos only get like 20 likes by my irl friends, but this one got 12K likes, it was crazy!), like I gained a lot of Stranger Things fan page followers. What was the Tik Tok? I literally made it because I was procrastinating my online school (back when I was still doing that) and it’s literally about how whenever I’m binging Stranger Things and get to S2:E6, I get really excited and I showed the scene of Nancy and Jonathan about to kiss. I got a lot of comments like “Yesss I was so happy!” and stuff like that and it made me really happy lol.

16) Favorite fan theory? Idk, there’s some pretty crazy theories out there. I don’t really look at many theories, I just like seeing what some people theorize for S4. I especially like @unpredictablybittersweet’s S4 theories here on Tumblr. And GemmaStones on Reddit has some theories I really like too.

17) Favorite filming location? The Byers house!! I’m gonna miss that place :’( Lots of iconic stuff has happened there. Still bitter we didn’t get much of it in S3.

18) Read any books or comics? Again, I’m pretty new, so no I have not. I’ve heard what happens in some of them online though.

19) Favorite duo? My fave duo will forever be Nancy and Jonathan. Whether it’s platonic or romantic, when they get together they do some pretty badass things.

I watched Enter the Florpus

I had just finished watching Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. Literally, like I just finished watching a few seconds ago lol.

My thoughts below and it’s gonna be ramble-y because I don’t have time to think things through and is going on what I feel at the moment after watching the movie.

The beginning part was fun to watch by the way... things appear different in Dib’s head it seems haha. That kid’s gonna grow up into a freaking chuuni at this point except he’s not actually delusional.

Anywho, it feels rather... different from the series? I decided to rewatch the original series’ first episode a few days back and also Dark Harvest (cause I was showing my little sister) so seeing those and then this is kind of. It feels different. Like the color scheme and some of the designs and the feel of the movie. It feels ‘cartoon-y’ and I’m not really sure how to explain it.

Things went by so fast in the movie. Like one second they’re in space then the next they’re trying not to get separated then Dib’s on Earth again. I know it’s a movie so it’s short and they need to do things and wrap things up fast but the pacing is just a little too fast for me? Like the transition from one scene to another missed something in between...

When I heard about the movie before, I had expectations. I expected something dark like in the original series but the movie was a bit too I’m not sure how to say it but... ‘positive’? ‘Light’? Just... I watched the series as a child and years later I forgot many things about it except for ‘Game Slave 2′, ‘Bestest Friend’, and ‘Dark Harvest’. Especially ‘Dark Harvest’. Like how do you forget something like that? Forget Keef getting his eyes taken and replaced? Gaz being creepy awesome just to get a game? I never forgot and so I expected something equally as dark in the movie. You know, something that’d make people ask ‘Is this really for kids?’ because that’s how I remember it and that’s why I liked it.

The last part with the Florpus and transitioning to ‘different reality’ looks remind me so much of Gravity Falls’ Weirdmaggedon. Same thing happened there, right? But there Dipper and Wendy went into these weird floating bubbles and in there is where they kept changing appearance.

My biggest issue with the movie? Gaz. What did they do to Gaz? She’s nice and cute and she’s not the Gaz I remember. She feels more ‘little sister’-like in this and the fact that she’s much more emotive here is weird. Gaz was my fave character as a kid cause I thought she was cool and awesome (like in Game Slave 2) but now she’s just... different. I like her old looks and outfit better, too. I think I heard Foodio call her ‘Gazlene’ at the end and that’s nice to hear. Like I heard that’s her full name but wasn’t sure.

I enjoyed it though, don’t get me wrong. It was funny and cute at times and it was entertaining (esp. Gir!!). I’m just sad there’s not much of Zim when he’s like, the main, title character. Dib became the movie protagonist not even half-way through and Zim just became a funny antagonist. They should’ve had the same amount of interesting screentime since that’s how it was in the show. They both are the main characters after all.

And as happy as I am that Dib and his dad fought together, I can’t get past that whole ‘I’m always proud of you’ line his dad told him. Like I know it’s supposed to be something nice to hear but proud of what exactly? He never believed in anything Dib told him in the series and certainly not here in the movie where he’s still adamant that it was all a dream/hallucination/totally not real. He’s always wanted Dib to pursue ‘real science’ like him which Dib never does. Dib is good at making things but it was never for real science like his dad wanted. Proud of what? It felt like Dib didn’t earn the words he was given. I mean if his dad finally believed him in the end and realized he’d always been right about the aliens and stuff then that ‘I’m proud of you’ line would’ve been heartwarming but right now it felt kinda out of place...

This is gonna be longer if I kept typing randomly. I’d probably just continue this part of the uh... my thoughts? later on in a different post. This is just supposed to be about the movie after all.

Rewatching Syren

The little mermaid is my favourite ondertale episode

What kind of dystopia do these poor Parisians live in where stuff like this is happening even when there aren’t akuma attacks going on??? ignore Pocahontas in the corner okay that’s just the Disney Channel thing, the sequel sucks anyway

Uh just a warning. So, I know in these rewatching ml posts I always harp on about Kimax this, Kimax that, Kimax Kimax Kimax. But the truth is that after 2 seconds of seeing Ondine onscreen I already wanted her to marry Kim so be prepared for me screeching over Kimdine a lot in this thing okay, I am TRASH and I’m not even sorry about it

How much do you wanna bet Kim has broken every single one of these rules multiple times

HE PINNED HIS TOWEL TO HIS SHOULDERS LIKE A CAPE, HE’S SUCH A DORK I LOVE HIM???

I love Ondine so much too, she’s basically buff freckly Ariel and she’s so cute oh my god freckles for days

Okay so the sign’s in a bunch of different languages and I’m 99% sure Kim has ignored it many, many times

He didn’t put his goggles on when he went underwater, and actually neither of their swimming caps cover all their hair ugh they’re both disasters, I love them

She’s BLUSHING and everything how does Kim not notice this??? He’s all like “oh that boy you like must be so dumb lol” well yeah Kim, yeah HE IS

Can I gush for a second about Ondine’s design?? They actually made her look like a swimmer, like with big shoulders and arms everything, and she’s fairly tall, and she’s got freckles everywhere (at least 40 on her face alone, I counted) and thick eyebrows and it all just makes her super GORGEOUS like yes can we get more character designs like these please?? (And KIM OH MY GOD LOOK AT YOU you’ve got it bad and you don’t even realize skdjfhksjdhkj)

Oh btw Ondine’s bracelet is 023 and Kim’s is 024, in case you wanted some useless information

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: we, as a fandom, are sleeping on the fact that Kim can stick his toe in his ear and that Ondine thinks it’s cute and this is actually a canon thing that is canon

He even passes her the notebook with his feet?? Sometimes I wonder what she sees in him but then I remember I want to adopt him so like, there must be something

Reason #3274598347 why Kimdine are a great couple: they really must trust each other a hell of a lot considering they literally have a game where they spill their secrets to each other, like, they’re already close friends and know so much about each other and oh okay I may be using this rewatching post to just gush about my fav underrated canon otp oops

Thousands and thousands of people have gotta be dead and you know it, like imagine if she’d accidentally killed Kim too, that would have been awkward

Marinette and Alya being heroes and making sure everyone got out okay omg, they’re heroes even without the mask

There really are not many survivors up on these rooftops, are there...

Kim is just on another level of Iconic entirely??? Paris is flooded with his future bae’s tears and he puts on a swimming cap and goggles (which he doesn’t use) and immediately leaps into the water, and then tells Markov (who is a tiny robot and allergic to water) to learn to swim like a frog, what even goes through his brain

So uh... if Kim is Syren’s prince... does that make him... Prince Kim... AHEM ANYWAYS that throne she made for him is so cute and I can’t believe he doesn’t even care that he got kidnapped by an akuma villain ‘cause hey, it’s a hot shredded mermaid therefore Kim’s a scalie and it’s CANON

So he’s all like “I’ve never seen a siren at the pool before??” which means that 1. He doesn’t realize she’s an akuma villain, he just genuinely thinks she’s a siren who actually lives in Paris, and 2. he knows what a siren is and doesn’t put 2+2 together that this particular siren has chosen him as prey and is luring him into staying underwater with her forever

I legit think about this scene every single day. The writers were probably like “okay so we need a mermaid episode, which kid in the class would be most likely to be seduced by a m-- KIM. IT WOULD BE KIM.” He’s just realized this freckly fish is Ondine and that she’s in love with him and just... hhhh I have a lot of feels it’s like 1am okay

He wants to be a merman so that he can swim fast, that’s so Kim of him I’m in tears omg, Syren doesn’t even care she’s just being a creepy fish with 100 freckles on her face (I counted) tempting him into staying with her at whatever cost

Asjdhskdjhfksjd he KNOWS she’s an akuma villain and still wants to kiss her?? Well to be fair Ondine’s evil yandere mersona is very pretty and Kim never really uses his brain for thinking, so... yeah

1. What’s the meaning of your name? Does it suit you?

Rosemary doesn’t seem to have a specific meaning, although of course it’s an herb, and Rosemary is for remembrance, which is hilarious given my memory problems. Mary means bitter, so some name meaning sites say the meaning of my name is “bitter rose” which I guess is a nice combo of sweet and sad, which I would not really classify myself as. So, no, the various meanings of my name do not suit me.

The name itself? Does. I love my name, and while most people can’t be bothered with a 3 syllable name in casual conversation, my preference is to be called Rosemary and not Rose. Rose does not feel like me.

2. What’s a movie you never get tired of?

A lot of movies fit under this category, but the movie I have probably seen the most amount of times and can still watch either in full or in chunks and still enjoy every single second of no matter what is Dirty Dancing.

3. Your favourite movie soundtrack?

Are we talking soundtrack as in collection of songs used in the movie and put into an album, or as in score for the movie, or?

Because nothing but nothing beats the Star Wars scores for me. Well, original and prequels and TFA anyway - the last two have diverged quite a bit which has felt odd to me but whatever. [Second place would be the scores for the 70/s80s Superman movies - also John Williams of course]

4. How would you describe your personal style?

Accidental? I pretty much just buy things that I find interesting, and then put things together that seem interesting to me, and then end up with some pretty ... interesting outfits. One of my roommates actually described my look yesterday as “crazy” if that tells you anything.

Think colors that don’t quite match, conflicting patterns, stripey socks, chunky jewelry, and then at times like now at the end of winter when I haven’t shaved my head in awhile - short floppy hair that is sticking up in all directions that I swear I tried to tame but it just doesn’t take.

5. Name a fictional crush.

Spike from Buffy. Also Buffy from Buffy. And put them together? Double crush.

6. What’s your motto?

I don’t really have a motto, per se, but I do have a mantra, which is: love, peace, joy, hope. Those are the qualities I try to embody, embrace, spread, whatever. All four are of equal importance to me.

7. Are you a gamer?

If by gamer, you mean obsessively playing the Sims, then yes. But most people who consider themselves gamers would probably say no.

8. Would you rather spend time on a secluded beach or at a fancy cocktail party?

How about a fancy cocktail party on a secluded beach? Too much sand in the drinks, never mind.

Ah, these are both problematic for me. I don’t do so well with being completely alone, especially without some kind of distraction or diversion. I guess if I had a book with me on the beach, I’d be okay for a little while, but I’d also get uncomfortable super fast if there wasn’t, like, a comfy sofa or something to recline on.

And I also don’t do well with fancy, or come to think of it with cocktails since I can’t drink any more with the meds I have to take.

But, if I had to choose, I’d probably pick the party. I’d be dressed inappropriately (probably something with loud colors and polka dots?), and sitting in the corner mostly people watching, and I’d get overwhelmed and head home early, but still.

9. Recommend a television series.

oohhhoooomygods just ONE?

I’ve rec’d this one many times, but since it just came back for season two last night (I haven’t watched the ep yet - it’s next on my list), I’m gonna recommend Imposters to you all again.

Imposters is a lil show with a small but dedicated fandom on Bravo.

It stars Inbar Lavi (Prison Break, The Last Ship) as a con woman and Rob Heaps (Home Fires, And Then There Were None), Parker Young (Arrow, Suburgatory), and Marianne Rendón (Mapplethorpe) as three of the people who she has swindled. Additionally, Brian Benben (Private Practice, Dream On), Stephen Bishop (Being Mary Jane), Chastity Dotson (Pitch, Veronica Mars), and Denise Dowd (Secrets and Lies, Beverly Hills 90210) star.

The story of season one is that these three scorned exes find one another and begin a quest to find the woman they all alternately view as their loving spouse and the cruel con who stole everything from them. Along the way, they learn some cons of their own, gain back some of their confidence, and of course discover the power of friendship.

There are many twists and turns along the way which I won’t spoil for anyone who wants to watch season 1 for themselves, but it involves cons within cons within cons and unlikely teammates.

Also - Uma Thurman as a hitwoman.

As the finale of season one had our three scorned exes riding off together into the sunset, I am very excited to see where season two leads us. Seriously, you have to watch this show.

10. Do you have any phobias?

Boy howdy, do I! I have OCD, which often comes with phobias as part of the anxiety which leads to some of the obsessive compulsions. [FELLOW PHOBES MIGHT WANNA SKIP THIS PART - PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES.]

I have a slight germ phobia which I mostly don’t go deep into because I don’t have the energy to do what I’d need to do to feel better about it so I just make myself not-think about it really hard, but the underlying anxiety is Still There.

This is especially true of what I call “poop germs” - which is anything that has ever been inside of a bathroom ever. This makes, you know, having to use bathrooms very upsetting and problematic for me, so again, I deploy my aggressive pretending it’s not there as much as I can, but poop germs can cause me to break down into tears on a bad day. Fun times!

I’m also an emetophobe, which means I’m terrified of throwing up - a fun little phobia to have when you have constant low-grade nausea which occasionally flares up to higher-grade, lemme tell ya.

Another biggie is infestation of any kind - so any kind of insect or small animal that comes into my home. Like, I am absolutely fine seeing these critters outside where they belong - I might even oooh and aaah. But the second I see one INSIDE - I’m screaming bloody murder and waking up the entire apartment complex.

I’ve worked real hard at being less scared of the harmless single bugs that enter a home, especially the kind that EAT other bugs - so for example I am perfectly fine with spiders (being obsessed with Charlotte’s Web as a kid helps), and even centipedes after the initial screaming over how creepy they look is done. And I’ve gotten where I look insects up on websites that identify bugs and talk about them in positive/scientific ways and have stopped panicking about certain bugs and their larvae now as I can tell which ones are and aren’t actually harmful or prone to infestation. BUT. I’m still prolly gonna scream when I initially see them because eaauughhss.

Those are the main ones, but the fun thing about OCD is that new ones develop all the time if you don’t stay vigilant about letting those obsessive thoughts do their thang, so I try real hard to ignore those news segments and articles about bringing black lights into hotel rooms and about all of the horrible ways people are committing violent crimes these days and other terrifying and/or gross things that might creep their ways into my fear center.

11. What’s your rarest rarepair?

Oh, good question. I don’t tend to have rarepairs because the way I fandom is deep immersion into canon and not necessarily delving into fanon/fanfic. So even my non-canon ships tend to be ones that the canon itself at least played with a little bit or that the fandom-at-large has talked about enough that I start to see it. lol

I’m having trouble even thinking about a ship I have that could be classified as rare? It would probably be something involving Spike because I ship that fool with pretty much everyone he’s ever shared screentime with because he is just so yummy, and because Marsters was just really good about getting his character to bring interesting things out of whatever characters he was interacting with, and because he’s clearly so omnisexual that he just oozes chemistry with everyone he meets, but like. I’m also definitely not the only one who sees all that about him and also is shipping him left right and center. So. I’ll just toss out Spike/Harmony because I’ve never heard of anyone else who actually liked them together ha!

This si an example of Dudeblade’s overall problem: He picks and chooses who he has a problem with when other characters should be getting the shaft. In this instance, due to her insensitive comments being intentional, her constant abandonment of her family and mistreatment of them, Raven Brawnen should be getting the shaft here, not Taiyang.

I do not hate Sun Wukong to the point where I want him to die. Get injured or face consequences for constantly bothering Blake, yes. But I do not want him to die. And he did get consequences (to an extent) for constantly bothering Blake.

In this instance, since she was being twice as ivasive, contributed less to the story and sides with Sun, Kali should be getting the shaft as well, especiallyas Sun was constantly saving or helping Bake and without him she woud have been found by the WHite Fang. Yet she is ignored.

Can’t say the same thing about Jaun/e Ar/c though.

Yes and why is that? Because you have already explained this in another post of yours in which you said Jaune needed to die because he got into Beacon and didn’t pick up on Weiss’ signals despite Pyrrha fitting most of these qualifications to eve better degree than Jaune?

It’s pretty obvious by this point that if the character is straight, white and male you will demonize them because unless they’re a paragon and even then you will just attack the writers.

SO let’s go through and see just how faulty your arguments are.

If that was a qualification for your hate and dedicating hate posts as this is self proclaimed, then by your own logic Raven Branwen should be getting more hate as Jaune has done selfless things in the past (Such as helping Neptune wow Weiss, Jaune giving support to Pyrrha when she was struggling to become the Fall Maiden, Not throwning sap onto Pyrrha despite that costing him his dreams nearly and even giving up his sadness and strength he gained in Volume 4 so he can direct it all to Ruby and improve her as a character.) While Raven has not done one selfless thing besides her rule and abandoned her daughter and lover to lead a tribe that her own twin calls out, marudes villages for supplies then leaves them to die by Grimm hands and never once takes the guilt for it and dooms the world to Salem because her brother called her out on being a shitty parent towards a child she does not care about. And yet Raven gets away with it while you’re here hating on Jaune.

mean, what would happen if any other character were to do what ja/une did? - Y’know, smelting his dead girlfriend’s stuff to give himself an upgrade. I bet that they’d be called out on their actions.

There was a theory about Blake having taken Yang’s Emebr Celica and running away with it as a memento. The problem here is that Yang is not dead, the Ember Celica is unique and Blake abandoned her, all of which does not apply to Jaune. But no one called out that theory, not even the writers, and here you are.

And that’s even getting into Ren and his dad’s knife or the fact that Ruby’s attire is based off her dead mom’s. Remnant would be a logical place where mixing the weapons and attire of the dead into your own as a way of keeping them alive through you. You also called Pyrrha his girlfriend and never once mentioned that Croces More was his family heirloom meaning Pyrrha lives on so long as an Arc does and makes Pyrrha permeant family member.

Apparently, he can do this however he wants.

Which is why Jaune gets called out on his behavior (like Ruby did in Volume 1) or he calls himself out (like he did in Kuroyuri in Episode 10). This doesn’t really work.

I bet if Ruby wanted to take a bit of Penny to integrate into her outfit and/or weapon, her creator would be all “No bitch.” and shove her out of the office where she would likely have requested it.

... She did though. Looking at her Volume 4 outfit, Ruby took clear inspiration from Penny with her undershit being very similar to Penny’s with the collar looking identical in shape to Penny’s as well as her dress/corset mealding with her under shirt just as Penny did. Ruby obvious DID incoperate Penny into her outfit... This took me two minutes to research. There is no excuse for this.

You’re right, he’s not the strategist: He’s the tactician. The difference between a strategy and a tactic is the difference between what and how: What the goal is and how it is achieved. Ruby is the strategist in that she found the Grimm and knows they must defeat it, Jaune is the tactician in that he finds the way. Going back to Volume 1, ruby new they couldn’t run from the Grimm so they decided to fight and Jaune figured out the simplest and safest way to kill his Grimm (use the sting and Nora’s hammer). While Ruby did so for her Grimm, her way put herself in a lot more danger than anyone in Jaune’s plan. Jaune is not a good leader but he’s good at directing people and supporting the, AKA he’s a support character which he was delegated to this Volume.

DBZA Goku’s plans would probably be better than Jaune’s. If he was set up to be the strategist, then his ‘strategies’ should be treated seriously.

1. Goku is implied to eb the source of his son Gohan’s intelligence, not Chi CHi so you just complimented Jaune.

Comparing Jaune to Sokka from A:tlA is an insult to Sokka. Jaune is no strategist. If her were, then he’d say, “Destroy that thing’s body, and stop its escape when we finish the first part!”

Also, “Run around in circles”? that’s the best tactic you could come up with? - We all know that this was an excuse for miles to show off his favorite character’s new sword mode.

That;s becausde the Nucklevee at the time focused onto a single point to attack. the only one of tehm who ever got any hits in wwas Ren who was doing exacty that so Jaune was simply using observation.

Also that sword mode was kind of useless. All it really ddi was get Jaune bitch slapped, not mention that Ruby was able to pin down her her singe handedly while Jaune need Ren to hold his down so Jaune’s not getting any special treatment.

He’s also the only one to be mourning Pyrrha.

What the hell are you talking about? Ruby is also mourning Pyrrha, she clearly shows it in both Episode 2 and in episode 10! And in episode 10, Jaune directly says the only reason he has gotten stronger is because of Ruby and even brushes off his own sadness to make Ruby look better! That’s an outright lie!

Yes I wished Ren and Nora would have mourned her as well but considering the fact that they were dealing with the monster that destroyed their village and killed Ren’s parents, I think that’s a bit more to angst about then one person you knew for a year. Yeah one is sad but I think a longer standing wound that cuts deeper warrents more attention!

And heres the thing, you don’t consider the fact that the show doesn’t have enough time, that there isn’t enough t show them mourning properly because tehre’s already so much to focus on even without that. And don’ts at cut Jaune’s screentime because he’s the only logical catalyst for Ruby and I don’t think 5:52 minutes will mean jackshit to the narrative.

In comparison to Ruby (A character who has lost her mother and friend), Ren (A character who has lost his entire village), or Nora (A character who lost her near everything) this comes off as incredibly insensitive.

Okay, 1. That does not woek here: Everyone is entitled to their own sorrows. You know, that quote from the beginning fo the fucking White Trailer.

2. You have called em out for apparently saying Yang isn’t allowed to angst because taiyang has it harder but now Jaune isn’t? Pretty fucking hypocritical.

3. Jaune beat you to the punch and unlike you, he acknowledges Ruby’s strength as well. Jaune has done a better job at his own criticism than you have.

He’s also the only character to get angry at Qrow. And for some reason, Ruby decides to not come to her Uncle’s defense.

Jaune si the only reason to get angry at Qrow here because Ren and Nora never saw what the Maiden thing was doing to Pyrrha and how they were pressuring her and Ruby is social awkward meaning she doesn’t have the tools to do anything but just try to grasp why the person she trusted so much is hiding so much from her. In that scene, the way Jaune is talking indicates that he is being overly hostile meaning Jaune is not treated as in the right there either. They’re both wrong and they both deserve a narrative boot to the back.

However, in the fight with Tyrian, Jaune clenches his eyes and tries to look away when Ruby is about to be beaten. But then Qrow shows up, and saves her. Jau/ne did nothing, and Qrow did everything.

Okay, 1. What could Jaune do? Nora Ren and especially Ruby got their asses handed to them and are better fighters than him. Do you want Jaune to jump in and attack Tyrian, because this either results in A. Tyrian killing jaune and now ruby ahs THAT on her mind so expect suicide. B. Jauen fails and Ruby dies because Jaune got in the way or C. They both die. That is the only options and Jaune probably knows this and feels helpless. Also, he’s the god damn audience surrogate: Just as we’re helpless, so Jaune.

2. Qrow is a god damn Grimm magnet due to his Semblance and all the wonderful angst that brings. I wouldn’t be surprised in 70% of the Grimm that attacked them where after Qrow and decided the teens looked tasier.

3. You are not allowed to call anyone oyt for being ungrateful. Yang is allowed to insult and belittle her father;s pain and you accept that, despite him taking care of her for eighteen years. You are not allowed to play that card.

Why does he get to save Qrow? - To show that he can put aside his grudges? Strategically speaking, Ruby would have been a better choice to save him. She has super speed for crying out loud!

No, it’s to show that Jaune has let go of his grudge against Qrow and is finally and truly moving forward for the sake of his friends. Just as well: Jaune is the weakest link in the group. Ruby can act as a temporary tactician in his place and he isn’t very strong so they won’t be losing much to save Qrow and repay their debut to him.

Why is Tyrian interested in Jau/ne? It just feels as if Jau/ne is being a black hole of attention right now.

... That’s nota good thing. It’s the equvilant of Freddy Krueger making kissy face at you: It’s meant to freak you out and scare you because their psychotic. Just as well, the purpose of the scene is intensified by the fact that Jaune is the audience surrogate so this is meant to subconsciously freak you out more. Not to mention the fact that this isn’t addressed ever again and it=s treated more as a Big Lipped Alligator Moment.

Ps. Considering how everyone is bending to Yang in your fanfic, you are not allowed to make Black Hole sue jokes.

It’s just really hard to not see Jaune as miles’ self-insert at this point. I mean, if Ren or Nora were the ones bemoaning the senseless loss of life, we would eventually know why. And it would carry much more weight to it.

No, it wouldn't. Because that’s us. Everything Jaune has said this volume has been a reflection of us.

Him struggling to move forward?

Becoming more cynical?

Weary at the loss of life?

Attributing their strength to Ruby?

Anger at Qrow for Pyrrha?

This is all stuff I saw in the fandom and in the fanbase. Jaune is just doing what eh was made to do and reflect the viewer. I think that says a lot of about you, Dudeblade.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding review: Netflix’s latest is cozy trash - Vox.com

Here are the two most important things you need to know about Netflix’s A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, the sequel to last year’s semi-ironic Christmas success:

1) There are no wolves. You will recall that in the first movie, our heroine Amber is menaced by wolves during a vaguely Beauty and the Beast-inspired sequence, which leads to a crucial bonding moment between Amber and the titular Christmas Prince.

The whole thing was so bizarre that it immediately imprinted itself into my heart. So naturally, I expected the wolves to make their much-anticipated return in the sequel. And yet! There are no wolves!

The Christmas Prince even says, “No wolves, I promise,” right before a festive horseback ride through Aldovia’s supposedly wolf-infested mountains, and there is not so much as a howl in the distance. The absence of wolves, obviously, is unmitigated bullshit.

2) The wedding dress, which comes at the end in a big reveal, is less a ballgown and more a kind of business-casual-looking white satin shirt dress, with a train. It, too, is bullshit.

But if A Christmas Prince 2: Where Are the Fucking Wolves? were to do anything as interesting and potentially costly as bring back the wolves or showcase fabulous dresses, it would not be in keeping with the spirit of the Christmas Prince franchise, which is to revel in sparkly mediocrity.

The people who made this sequel cared so little about it that the movie contains a scene in which one character’s entire outfit changes between cuts — like, drastically changes, from blue and pink to brown and mustard — and no one ever bothers to offer an excuse. That’s the spirit with which we are entering into this movie, and you have to accept that up front.

The ideal Hallmark Christmas movie — which is absolutely what Netflix’s Christmas Prince franchise is emulating — is so dumb that it makes you feel smart because you can mock it while you’re half-paying attention and also a little bit drunk.

However, it is also frothy and warm enough that watching it makes you feel that you have been swaddled in a cozy blanket of family values and consumerism. Getting in on the joke in the manner of, say, a Riverdale would mean embracing the inherent camp of the genre — and that would ruin the straight-faced coziness of the whole thing.

And so A Christmas Prince turns its face away from the wolves and plays the whole thing relentlessly, and in all senses of the word, straight.

Could there be shenanigans afoot???

Before we dive into the movie proper, a note on terminology. I am aware that the Christmas Prince (Ben Lamb) is now technically a Christmas King, having been crowned at the end of the first movie. I am further aware that he has a name (“Richard”). All of this is meaningless to me. The Christmas Prince he was dubbed in the first movie, and the Christmas Prince he shall be called. I will take no questions on this matter.

Royal Wedding finds the Christmas Prince struggling with his plans to modernize Aldovia by investing in its infrastructure and wow, yes, I too am bored already. Here’s the thing: This sequel is clearly caught by the trap that traditionally grabs a nighttime soap in its second season. After spending the first season reveling in the lavish wealth of its protagonists, the second season inevitably makes the mistake of looking into where the money comes from (see for instance: Gossip Girl, the Bass Industries plot; Revenge, the Initiative plot), and nothing interesting ever comes of it.

In this case, Royal Wedding is trying to justify its charmingly low-production-value version of fabulous wealth by looking at what the royal family is doing for the country they ostensibly serve, and the best thing I can say about that plot line is that it doesn’t take up that much screentime.

Nothing in this movie is surprising, but then that’s what makes it soothing

Instead, we spend most of the movie with Amber (Rose McIver) as she struggles to find a way to take on her new duties as a queen-in-waiting while maintaining her independent nature, and also her blog. (Blogs are still a thing in this universe.)

Just as in the first movie, stern Mrs. Averill (Sarah Douglas) keeps trying to force Amber to follow “protocol,” because when you marry into a family that is paid obscene amounts of money in exchange for some largely ceremonial work, apparently you have to make some sacrifices for “diplomatic” and “political” reasons, whatever.

And just as in the first movie, the Christmas Prince’s plucky little sister Emily (Honor Kneafsey) becomes Amber’s partner in crime as she struggles to maintain her own identity. Amber is also accompanied by her father (John Guerrasio, taking over from Daniel Fathers), who never quite says, “Bada bing, bada boom,” but who definitely wants to the whole movie.

Will Amber find a way to maintain her identity and keep her true love and acquire a castle full of stuff? Yes! Will the Christmas Prince find a way to modernize his country’s infrastructure and pay attention to his fiancée, all while maintaining the aura of a slightly constipated Ken doll? Yes! Will there be wolves? No. Will Amber and the Christmas Prince ever indicate that they have had or plan to have sex? Extremely no.

In the meantime, there is a castle. There are fairy lights. There is jellied meat. There is a borderline racist/homophobic caricature of a gay Indian wedding planner. There are cute kids. There is snow, and snow angels, and tobogganing.

Light bigotry aside, everything here is blandly, smoothly cozy. And if you are sad and tired from the holidays since apparently they now start at Halloween, and you need to turn off your brain and watch some straight garbage every day for 18 days, then A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding is here for you.

The wolves, however, are not. Such bullshit.

Rupaul’s Drag Race Season 10 Power Rankings - Ep. 5, The Bossy Rossy Show

I haven’t said this yet, so I guess I will now. I don’t base my ranks only off of how well they do in the challenges. I factor it in, but mainly it comes down to how they do on the show at large, in and out of the challenges and runway. I think screentime, backstory, and backstage buffoonery factor just as much into the final vote as challenge wins do, especially if the fans get a say.

10. Monet X Change I was wondering when this would happen. The queen I would consider the weakest wasn’t the one that went home. This happens often on the show. Sometimes the queen who sashays isn’t the one who did the worst. Trinity and Dela in season 6, Trixie and Katya in 7, etc, though those are all more egregious examples, Monet is easily the weakest in the competition right now including Mayhem. In this episode, I think she was the only one who’s performance AND outfit were bad. Her lipsync gimmicks weren’t quite as impressive as last week, either. It was all sloppy. Could’ve been a double elim for all I care. Whatever. Monet probably is a great and hilarious queen (Cracker’s “best queen in NYC”). She’s just not showing it on the show. If she lands in the bottom again, she’s toast.

9. Mayhem Miller I’m kinda used to this phenomenon. Sometimes queens who shouldn’t be in the bottom 2 end up in the bottom 2 and then leave. Mayhem by no means did great this week, but I think the Vixen and Asia did worse. I would’ve put Asia and Monet in the bottom 2, but it’s not my show. I’m sad to see Mayhem go cuz I was super excited to see her on the show, but alas, this was bound to happen sooner or later. RIP. -Mayhem is my first major candidate for Miss Congeniality.

8. Kameron Michaels I feel like the second I start to like Kameron, she’s gonna leave, so I won’t! She didn’t do too bad in the challenge, and her outfit was pretty good. They have been pretty good for the most part, but Kameron still gets no screen time in the work room and hardly any in Untucked and absolutely NONE in confessionals. Who the fuck is she? Things we know about Kameron Michaels: 1. ‘hot’ out of drag, 2. can get rid of spiders if needed, 3. likes Shania Twain. That’s it. I GUESS there’s an outside chance that she snipes her way to one of the final episodes but I will be VERY surprised and VERY bitter if she does; it’s a reality show and they seem to think being sexy outta drag is worth keeping someone in a drag competition.

7. Blair St. Clair I really really like Blair, but she’s starting to remind me of Farrah Moan. Not that she’s whiny, but because she’s just like a lovely fruit that hasn’t quite ripened. She’s a talented queen, for sure, but is still getting eclipsed by bigger, louder, crazier and more mature queens. Unless she’s hiding something fantastic up her sleeve, she won’t survive her first lipsync.

6. The Vixen I’m glad that the Vixen has cooled her jets some. Showing a more docile side will help her a lot if she wants a shot at the crown, but the damage she’s already inflicted might be fatal. For all I know there could be another fight or two in the future. Her enemies Aquaria and Eureka are sailing ahead, and that might trigger some hostilities. I see two futures for the bomb that is the Vixen (and neither are her winning): either she explodes on someone and self destructs and that stress sends her home OR she totally fizzles out of drama and relevance and it sends her home. Either way, she has until the rest of the fodder queens are gone before she herself gets gone. 5. Asia O’Hara I’m kinda worried that Asia’s high point/win might’ve been just a one-time thing. I mean, it pretty much just was her making funny faces. Two week in a row now she’s been kinda weak. I’m not sure if she’ll crush Snatch Game or not. Maybe she’ll pull a Kennedy and fuckin nail it. Maybe it’ll send her home. I hope not. I really like her. I want her to be top 4, but I think right now she’s drifting between the frontrunners and the middle-of-the-pack queens.

4. Aquaria Aquaria’s drag isn’t QUITE my cuppa tea, but she’s undeniably doing quite well. Her looks are strong. Her performances are usually solid. She BABBLES (like a baby) but she’s getting a story line. We know who she is. She’s been ...nice?... in Untucked here and there and everyone makes a big deal about it. They did the same with Violet. I wouldn’t totally hate seeing Aquaria in the top 3 tho. She’ll definitely look good for it, but I don’t think she’s gonna win.

3. Monique Heart #TeamMonique. Monique and Cracker are still tied for my favorite. I love it when I kinda roll my eyes at a queen during preseason but then they knock my socks off during the show. Sorry I doubted you, girl. I think she’s doing well so far. Please please please survive Snatch Game. Fuck what I said last week, I need her to be in the top 3. Let a strong showing for Monique be the justice that Jaidynn Dior Fierce never got.

2. Miz Cracker Woohoo! Always happy to see Breanna back in the top, but she still hasnt FUCKING won anything yet (Snaaatch Gaaaame?). I was expecting her to really crush this challenge and she ONLY did great. Sigh. She’s a fucking crazy dork and her sense of humor is so stupid and I love her but I think she’s getting a little in her head. I’m kinda nervous that she’s gonna get the Katya treatment (like they blame her elimination on her insecurity but in reality they kick her off over something arbitrary like a catsuit (Pearl shoulda gone home (but I’m not bitter))).

1. Eureka I HAVE NOT LOOKED UP ANY SPOILERS ON REDDIT so I don’t know if I’m right, but I’m like 97% sure Eureka will be in the top 3. I think she’s gonna win. I guess I’m repeating myself at this point, but Eureka is getting all the screentime AND has a win under her belt now. It’s pretty clear. Eureka, Miz Cracker, and Monique Heart look like an incredible top 3. With Eureka winning, it leaves the other two open to All Stars. This is what I want to happen. Will it happen? Probably not, but whatever. I still watch this stupid show. Goo goo ga ga stick a pickle in my mouth and a cactus in my butt. I laughed a lot during this episode. They really didn’t suck at improv, which is great cuz S10 doesn’t actually have a ton of ACTOR queens (Dusty and Blair, that’s kinda it?). Anydangway, I’m enjoying this season for the most part so far. There’s just enough drama to keep it from being boring, and the challenges are going pretty well. There hasn’t really been a jaw dropping moment yet, but the season’s hardly even halfway done. Still plenty of time to fear the dreaded Twist. I just hope there’s not a stupid lipsync tournament like in S9...
