Time is a flat circle.

Vlad is at the edge of his teenage years, his two best friends at his side. They are studying the science of ghosts. What are they? What can they do? Where do they hide?

Time is a flat circle.

Vlad wears the flimsy protection of a labcoat. It will not be enough. The portal hums to life just before his eyes, glimmering emerald and liquid malachite inside.

It sings.

Time is a flat circle.

Vlad sees the green— all the way up into his nose, his eyes, his mouth. There is a world on the other side of the portal. It is green and ice-cold and it is as loud as the thunder and buzzing in his ears—and he can see all of it—

The door is shut on him. Vlad never makes it to the other side.

Time is a flat circle.

Danny is on the cusp of his teenage years, his two best friends at his side. They watch his parents study the science of ghosts. What are they? What can they do? Where do they hide?

The questions remain unanswered.

Time is a flat circle.

Danny wears the flimsy protection of a hazmat suit. It will not be enough. The portal is a yawning, wide thing; Danny steps inside with caution.

The portal comes to life all around him, humming underneath his hands. It sings.

Time is a flat circle.

Danny sees the green— all the way up into his nose, his eyes, his mouth, absorbing into his bones and clinging to scraps of flesh that tear underneath its electric hands. There is a world on the other side of the portal. It is green and ice-cold and it is as loud as the thunder and buzzing in his ears—

He falls outside of the portal, burnt and bruised and unmade and remade all over again. Danny does not make it the other side.

Not yet, at least.

Time is a flat circle.

Someone drags him upstairs.

Time is a flat circle.

There is someone waiting to meet him, who was made into the same creature as he, by the same hands, who knows the same familiar faces.

Time is a flat circle.

There are a hundred eyes of a hundred separate creatures in another world, all observing quietly. There will be no intervention. The creation was inevitable. Their future meeting is equally so.

Time is a flat circle. Clockwork traces the rim of a thousand clock frames with his staff. The pair’s meeting is already over. Their meeting has yet to begun. He watches their introduction happen in present time in front of him, having already memorized their reactions to the other’s existence.

Time is a flat circle. The memory is folded up, filed, and the drawer shut.

Anyways enough rambling from me its time for me to do the drabble smh

Miss Nightingale told everyone that a new survivor is coming to the manor. Its been a surprise to hear, especially since there were a few that just came days ago. Then again, what even is a surprise in this ever-growing manor?

Certainly not for the veterans. And the owner themselves.

It was dead in the night, and Adalyn was merely up drinking her coffee while preparing her spare books to work on. She was always so busy, so having to spare some time for the others is a bit rare to see. Although, she did have her fun with the others (and had a good break, so to speak), the novelist still had her job to do to… Well, “satisfy” her readers for all the suspense and cliffhangers she left for them to suffer in.

From book to book did they cried out for answers, but she made no move to give it to them.

It was rather silent as she wrote on her papers when she heard voices. One of them was Emily’s (she hung around with the doctor the most, seeing as she is a rescuer and is always the one who got hurt the most despite utilizing her portals via her pages. Especially to Mary), but the other was unfamiliar.

A new survivor? Interesting, Adalyn paused on her brainstorming, only staying silent to hear their conversation. They’re near to the door, so I might as well listen in…

“So, you must be… Shafin, right?”

“Damn right! Nice to meet ya, ma’am!

… Is she acting like she lived from the west coast?

Color the novelist surprised, since she half expected for the new person to be so formal. Or normal. However, does she shun this sort of change?

No.

She doesn’t.

She only listened to the conversation, but decided to get up and go out of the door when she heard how Emily was dealing with the new survivor.

Opening the door, she gave the two a look of confusion but soon smiled at the new survivor. Well, she looks… Intriguing. She won’t complain much on her attitude – after all, new faces are something you don’t get to see or meet every day. And her personality is quite a surprise for her.

“Excuse me, miss Emily- is she the new survivor we were waiting for?”

The two turned their heads to her, as she left her room and gave the unfamiliar person a nod. She didn’t mean any harm for the other, unless she’s a hunter…

Shafin can only offer a grin to the other, and extended her hand to her as a form of a hand shake. Emily was sweating nervously – she certainly didn’t knew what to do, but can only leave the matters to Adalyn. Goodness, she’s a veteran, too…

“Are you a new surv? That’s awesome! The names Shafin – nice to meet ya!”

Adalyn was surprised, but soon nodded and shook her hand with a smile. Her speech was not something that bothered her, instead she took the offer and shook Shafin’s hand with a smile.

“Of course. I would ask the same, but I’m sure you’re the new survivor Miss Nightingale told us about. My name is Adalyn – Adalyn Adlere. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Emily seemed to have noticed that Adalyn is handling the situation well, and sighed softly in relief. She nodded at the two of them, before facing the novelist with a nervous smile on her face.

Does she have a favor to ask? Maybe.

“Adalyn, can you lead Shafin to her room? I don’t want her getting lost in this hour.” The doctor said with a pleading look in her face, which was mixed with how exhausted she looked. God, she should rest…

“I will, miss Dyer. Get some rest.” The bluenette replied, before facing Shafin (who seemed to be more or so prepared to bombard the two with questions). With a smile, the girl spoke,

“Follow me, then.”

As Emily left to sleep for the night, Adalyn led the other to the room she was assigned in. Thank goodness did she remember where it’s located in – even without her scriptbook (which had the exact location of every room in the manor – she did explore the whole building by herself, alongside the maps. Don’t ask her how – it’s a long story), she had a good memory on where Shafin’s room is at.

“I haven’t seen ya around these parts – or ever, for that matter! Are you new here?” Shafin asked with great interest, only gazing towards the girl who was leading her to where her room is.

“New? I guess you can say that. I just came here recently, so you can say I’m still somewhat new in the manor and how it works.” Adalyn responded, whilst making sure to take the right turns as they went to the room.

“Really? Now that’s a surprise! Actually, would ya believe me if I said I’ve seen most of the people here before I came to the manor?”

She stopped.

“… Pardon?”

Shafin blinked, and soon she can see her head turn with a look of shock.

“Say that again, miss Shafin?”

“You mean about me seeing everyone here before I–“

Now Adalyn approached Shafin, and her eyes narrowed with suspicion.

“… How do you know everyone here? How?”

She looked rather suspicious, but most of it was in disbelief. There was no way in God’s name can one know who they all are. Especially for the new survivors and hunters… That isn’t possible!

The gamer can only stay silent, sweating bullets when she saw how Adalyn reacted. Christ, man – do they know that they’re in a video game or something!?

By the looks of things, one can assume that she won’t believe that sort of reason. Especially now.

“Answer my question.”

There was silence,

“...”

“…”

Adalyn lowered her head, sighing. There is no use prying someone who’s stubborn and refuses to answer her question… What was she thinking anywa–

“For a novelist, you sure act like a detective- are you like Kyoko or something?”

“Kyoko?”

The woman turned to her, and she saw Shafin’s eyes gleam when she said her name.

“You don’t know? Kyoko Kirigiri from Dangaronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc! You two act so similar! Though you’re more forward, but still – are ya sure you’re not a detective or something?”

The novelist blinked, but she chuckled nervously and shook her head.

“I don’t know who that is, actually… Mind explaining it?”

“Wait, what?! Well, she’s…”

Alas, this may as well bloom a strange but meaningful friendship between the two. A gamer and a novelist… An odd pairing that would never fade in time.

MOVIE REVIEW

(DISCLAIMER: MY OPINION IS MY OWN AND CAN BE DEEMED INVALID TO THOSE WHO DON’T CARE FOR IT.)

June 27th, 2019 the year of our Lord (whichever one that may be) I watch a spectacular movie that I can truly say that the awards won were well deserved. Spider-Man was the first superhero I can truly say I looked up too and he’s super duper awesome my dudes. I plan on rewatching the movie again so I can complete this post.

Man, this post is gonna be extremely long but it’s totally worth it!

ENDGAME SPOILERS!!

Okay I saw Endgame last night and I need to vent... AHHHHHH!!! haha I have so many mixed emotions and I don’t even know. Also I typed this on mobile so sorry for any typos.

So I first saw Iron Man when I was 11, and it was so cool. I grew up watching all of these movies. At first, Cap was my favorite bc he was ~cute~ and I was a young teen girl and so were all my friends. I also loved Loki for this reason haha. Then I saw Iron Man 3 and LOVED IT. I bought it on DVD as soon as it came out. Tony Stark was amazing, but also he dealt with anxiety and panic attacks? His and Pepper’s relationship was everything as well, and also his and Happy’s and Rhodey’s friendships. Tony felt real and human and relatable, and it was cool he was able to overcome so much even with all of his trauma. In AOU he just wanted to protect his team, and no one truly listened to or respected him or tried to understand him, and he ended up with more trauma and guilt. I just wanted him to have a happy ending. Then he met Peter and it brought me hope, after all the Civil War crap. Infinity War was crushing but not completely because I knew another movie was coming out, so there was still some hope. But then Endgame. Honestly... I’m still processing, but I don’t think I’m happy with it. And for more reasons than just Tony, though I’ll talk about that first. His storyline just seemed... blah. He gets back, gets to yell at Steve, and then goes and lives in seclusion with Pepper and has a kid. Yet you know that even with that life he’s still depressed and guilt-ridden. It’s how Pepper knows he won’t stop. So he does his best to help, time travels or whatever (honestly that whole part is still kinda confusing to me- it created alternate timelines, but what are the implications of that- and also for the rest of the MCU??) and then Tony comes back and it looks like they’ve succeeded. I was expecting him to notice something off about Nebula, tbh. But anyway, final battle, and we all know what happens. He makes the sacrifice play. He dies. Pepper says it’s okay, but I just can’t agree. He already made the sacrifice play in the first movie. I think it should have been Steve or someone else in this one to do it. If all Tony’s pain and trauma has been building to this- I just feel empty inside. It’s not a satisfying end. Sure, he saved the universe, but I feel like Strange literally could have like left a message saying don’t send Nebula to the past and all of that would have been avoided. It felt so pointless. They’d already won. Tony also only got to reunite with Peter for like 30 mins, which is lame, and will bring a whole lot more trauma to him. He didn’t even get to see Morgan again. Ughhh I’m just annoyed. And then Steve?? He just goes to live in the past?? The whole movie he’s been saying he doesn’t move on, and then he literally never does, he never grows from there. He doesn’t really develop at all. It’s true- he never truly moved on from the past, and so that means... he’ll just go live there??? I think a better move would be to have him grow to accept his life and try to be happy and actually move on. Or, like I said earlier, he could have realized he can’t move on and made that sacrifice play himself in order to allow others to live and move on. I think that would have been a more satisfying arc to his story. And it would show the love he actually has for Tony- to allow Tony to live with his family and show that he heard and understood what Tony said at the beginning of the movie. (Also, they never had a real conversation where they made up. It was like they kind had that “do you trust me” moment but Steve never truly apologized and I feel like we got jipped out of a good heartfelt moment between those two.) Also- the Natasha sacrifice was sad, but I’m not totally surprised by it. It feels like a very her thing to do, to save her family and Clint’s. But then after everyone got mad and had a quick moment of silence, it was kind of forgotten?? Like they could have even had a memorial or small tribute at Ton’s funeral or elsewhere but like put something in?? It feels like she was just kind of brushed aside. (Also- I didn’t like BruceNat at first but grew to be okay with it, but then it never became anything? Bruce made himself into Professor Hulk and there was no real closure or conversation between him and Natasha? So like... what. was. the. point???) Again, everything with her just wasn’t that satisfying, but it’s something I may grow to view differently. I did enjoy Clint’s arc and I actually think they did a great job with him. Probably the strongest arc of the movie, actually. The way they handled Thor kind of annoyed me. I think it’s perfectly understandable that he would end up like that. He’s lost his family and most of his kingdom, and he feels responsible. I don’t have a problem with that. I have a problem with how the movie and the characters responded to that. Judgmental looks and jokes... like I’ll be honest, I did chuckle at Rhodey’s Cheez Whiz joke, but now I regret that. Like being fat is funny, haha look at Thor, he’s out of shape! Uhh yeah he’s depressed! And Rhodey should know better, being friends with Tony, he should know how to handle anxiety and depression. Nobody was really trying to help or even talk to Thor much, they really just wanted him to help them. Like he was clearly struggling, and yet that was used as a joke... it makes me sad. And also Thor never even looked back at Loki? The convo with his mom was nice though. But that reminds me? Was Loki’s infinity war death actually real then? Bc ugh. I’d be more willing to accept him being permanently dead if it wasn’t in such a lame way. Daggers, seriously?? Loki has freakin magic, and he’s smart!! He could have duplicated himself or something, and that type of lame death is so unsatisfying. Also. Captain. Freaking. Marvel. I went to the movie in a Captain Marvel T-Shirt, hers is one of the first actual comics I read, and I loved her movie. I was soooo excited to see her in this movie and become part of the team and to have some really fun banter with everyone. But then she just... disappears for basically the whole movie and hardly speaks at all (thinking about it- I think all the female characters speaking overall was wayyy low compared to mens which is sad) and she blows up the big ship at the end and that’s basically it. She didn’t really join the team, and she could have been so helpful! You’re telling me they didn’t make a way to communicate with her and they didn’t want to include her in their time travel adventures?? She could have had a funny interaction with Nick in 2012, or stopped Nebula from getting taken in 2014, or helped out more overall, idk. But she should have been a bigger part of the team. They hyped her up so much when she was hardly in the movie at all, which was extremely disappointing. Like I feel so cheated about this. This is something I’ll probably be bitter about for a while tbh... ugh she’s a queen and deserves so much more haha. Also Okoye and Wong would have been useful assets for the time travel and yet they were hardly in the movie at all? So many underutilized characters smh.... (Also I know this would be impossible and the point of the movie is for the main Marvel characters but you’re telling me that in 5 years, there was no random like French or Chinese or any other country’s scientist that could have developed time travel or another method of reversing the snap? Or someone from one of the bazillion planets out there? Like there have to have been other smart people/aliens who went all Liam Neeson after the snap and were out for revenge and solutions and they could have come up with something in those five years. But again, I know that wouldn’t work for the movie...) I just feel that a conclusion to the first real era and characters of Marvel should be more satisfying. But that’s just me, I know there are people who are plenty happy with it, and I think that’s valid. These are just my thoughts. Also, that was a long rant but I don’t want to be completely negative. Here’s some things I did enjoy. -Clint’s arc. Again, I felt it was really strong and emotional and hit all the right notes. They did a good job with him and I’m glad he got to go back to his family. -Nebula. She’s grown so much y’all. I do wish she got the final blow on Thanos, and that she clicked the button to go to the present faster so Thanos couldn’t come after them, but other than that I thought her storyline was great. She’s awesome. -That moment with all the female characters after Peter got hurt. I cheered. Marvel has so many amazing women and it was great to see them all together. I kinda wish they were given more lines and screen time though but this moment was super cool. -Morgan was adorable and I love her. -Pepper’s understanding of Tony was also great. She knew he needed to do something if he could, especially for Peter, she’s grown so much and she loves her mans I love her. -Almost the whole 2012 time travel thing was great. Some good humor and nostalgia, it was fun, I really liked it. The Loki alternate timeline would be cool to explore and I wonder if that’s what the show will be about. -Wanda had a great moment against Thanos. -Okay, while I do think that whole final battle was ultimately pointless and could have easily been avoided, the moment when T’Challa and the Guardians and everyone came in through the portals was amazingly epic and beautiful and powerful. The audience cheered and I did too. It was a cool scene. -Tony and Nebula in the ship at the beginning was great. -If Steve isn’t gonna be Cap anymore, Sam deserves it and I’m glad they went with him. -The Ancient One, Frigga, and other’s cameos were pretty cool. I liked those moments. -Tony’s convo with Howard was great. I like that he got a little bit of closure with his dad. There’s probably more but I’ve written a lot so I need to be done haha.
