description: the band reacts to finding out you're karen's girlfriend and it goes better than expected.

she's so pretty ahhhh... okay moving onto the main story now.

You were standing next to the bar as you listened to your girlfriend’s band with a smile on your face as you took a sip of water. You were here as a surprise since she had been recording for the past week and you had barely seen each other. You were mesmerized by how stunning she looked on that stage. So immersed with music that it seemed like it was her lifeblood.

After a few more of the band's songs, they retired off stage. And you carefully moved through the crowd towards the backstage doors, where already a large amount of groupies were huddled around.

“Hey Mark!

“Y/N I didn’t know you were coming tonight.”

“Just came to see an old friend.”

“Karen is going to be very happy to see you.” He sent you a little wink and a smile as he let you through the doors. The security guard had become a friend of yours after Karen introduced you to him after a show. He may look like a giant but he was truly a teddy bear and… a huge supporter of your relationship with Karen.

“Uh hi?” The frontman of the band, Billy greeted you as you walked through the doors. “Can I help you with something?”

“I was actually just-”

“Y/N!! Oh my god hi!” The familiar British voice echoed through the room making you turn towards your girlfriend as she enveloped you in a hug. “What are you doing here? I thought you had a planning session tonight.”

“They canceled last minute and I wanted to see you.” You let her out of the hug as she slung an arm around you.

“Aww aren’t you a big softie?”

“Well you have been pestering me to come to one of your shows.”

“That I have. Oh right, Y/N meet Billy. Billy meet Y/N, my best friend.” You offered your hand and widened your smile slightly, even as your heart clenched at the mention of ‘best friend’ but it was always better to be safe than sorry.

“Nice to meet you.” He shook your hand and took a drag of his cigarette before walking off with a grunt.

“Wow he really is as much of an asshole as you said he was.”

“Don’t mind him. Are you ready to go?”

“You aren’t going to stay with the band for a little longer?”

“No, that's okay. How about we go to your house?”

“Sounds like a plan.” You both exited through the back doors and made your way to your red Camaro. Ready to finally spend some time alone with the woman you love.

“Hey where did Karen go off to?” Graham asked as he walked into the back room, only to find the rest of the band (minus Karen) drinking, smoking or writing.

“I don’t know man, she disappeared like 20 minutes ago with this really pretty girl.” Warren said as he took another drag from his cigarette.

“Right. She’s been doing this a lot lately, hasn’t she?”

“Huh?” Warren asked.

“Disappearing off to god knows where.”

“Maybe she got a boyfriend.”

Graham: At the time we had no idea Karen was into girls but there were obvious signs that we were just too stupid to miss.

Camila: Oh I knew of course, I mean I introduced Y/N and Karen in the first place.

Graham: I don’t think we found out until the night of Camila and Billy’s housewarming party.

“Are you sure she wants me to be here?”

“Yes, now shush and help me fix this bloody jacket.” You let out a chuckle as you repositioned the parcels on your arm and carefully lifted Karen’s hair before fixing the jacket.

“Are we the only ones here?”

“Karen! Y/N, you came!”

“That I did.”

“Actually you arriving early is perfect for me. Can you help put some tablecloths outside? You should add some rocks on them so they don’t fly off.”

“No problem, you coming?”

“Be there in a second, love.” Karen smiled and gave a quick peck on the lips before disappearing into the backyard.

“So you two seem to be doing well.” Camila said as she wiggled her eyebrows mischievously.

“Yeah we are. Oh right, I wanted to give you these.” You handed Camila the carefully packaged gifts. She tore through the tissue paper after undoing the ribbon and audibly gasped.

“You didn’t.”

“Well I know you were looking for a perfume and since everything is so expensive these days I called in a favor from a friend.”

“But this is like gold.”

“Yeah well I owe you.”

“Aww Y/N.” She enveloped you in a hug that you quickly reciprocated as Billy walked into the room.

“Hey I can’t find- oh hi.”

“Hi, good to see you again.”

“Yeah sorry about being a bit of an asshole last time.”

“You’re good. I understand how tiring that must have all been.”

“Yeah umm Cami do you know where I can find those streamers?”

“They should be in the kitchen cupboard.”

“Great thank you darling.”

“I can’t believe you got me a Dior perfume!”

“Wait there’s more. I ended up making a few extras of the children’s clothes from my client so I thought I could bring some for Julia. If they don’t fit her I’m sure-” That was before you were engulfed by yet another Camila hug.

“Thank you. God I’m so happy Karen found you.”

“I think that credit all goes to you.”

A few hours later the party was in full swing and you were sitting next to Karen sipping on a beer as you chatted with Warren about some of your favorite designers. The man had great taste in clothes. Sometime during that conversation Karen had slipped an arm around your waist making you lean your head on her shoulder.

Warren: Y/N and Karen? Yeah I don’t remember that party vividly. I don’t know… I think I kind of knew they were together by the way they acted and hey, I wasn’t one to judge. Plus Y/N was great to talk to, we became pretty good friends.

Throughout the course of the night, you both drank very little. So when time came to sit at the piano and sing you were more than happy to observe your incredibly talented girlfriend. You had come to stand next to Cami as she cradled Julia in her arms, trying to get her back to sleep.

“May I hold her for a moment?” She nodded and as the band continued singing you caught Karen’s twinkling eyes as you carefully cradled the little girl in your arms. She sent you a soft smile and scrunched up her nose slightly, which was your little non-verbal signal that meant ‘I love you’. You scrunched your nose back and sent her an air kiss.

As the rest of the guests trickled out you found yourself on the couch with the rest of the band trading stories and anecdotes. You cuddled up next to Karen and Eddie as you animatedly told the story of how you met Karen through Camila, with Karen chiming in at random parts.

“So yeah we kind of kept meeting up a few times after that and suddenly one of those times she kiss- oh fuck.” Even the small amount of alcohol that you had consumed had loosened your tongue to the point where you had just spilled the biggest secret of them all.

“You know we don’t care right? I mean I thought you guys were together ever since I saw you two.” Eddie said from beside you as you readjusted your position.

“Yeah look I have a few friends who also like women. People who care about that shit are idiots and assholes.”

“Here here.” Graham said as he clinked his glass with Daisy, whilst Camila and Billy both just sent you reassuring smiles.

“Plus you both are really hot.”

“Warren!” Everyone exclaimed and Karen sent a pillow to his head.

After a few more minutes of chatting, you and Karen decided to make your way to your car. You opened up the driver's seat and clutched the wheel in anxiousness.

“You’re not mad?” You asked as Karen got in and looked at you quizzically.

“How could I be mad? I have a wonderful girlfriend and now I know how good it feels to say that in the open. I could never be mad at you. I think I love you too much for that, darling.” She swiped away the tears that were starting to form on the corners of your eyes and gave you a reassuring smile.

“I love you so so much.” You answered before gently taking her face in your hands and softly pressing your lips together as the stars twinkled above you and the streetlight shined on your faces.

• Haley isn't the most lovey dovey person in the world, she finds it hard to accept and receive it. Although she loves the idea of it, she never really wanted to pursue it ... until you wandered into her life. She didn't recognize it at first, she honestly repressed the feeling as far down as it would go. She has better uses of her time than sitting around worrying about some stupid farmer ...

• At least that's what she thought. One night, after hanging out with you, she came home and looked at herself in the mirror. Her smile was so bright, there were even smile lines creased into her makeup. And she enjoyed looking at it. Looking at the proof of her happiness ingrained in her face ... uh oh. She screamed into her pillow, out of excitement and fear.

• She didn't flirt, per say. She didn't want to make it obvious that she was actually interested in you, but she wanted to be around you. You notice that she's coming over a lot more often, and whenever you ask why, she makes some excuse. You can see it on her face, she's lying. All she really wants to do is be with you. She's bullies very very lightly, but not to extremes. “You're such an idiot,” with a soft, smiling expression. It's cute.

• One day, Haley was taking pictures at the beach, when she pointed her camera at the pier. You were sitting on the edge, fishing and looking as peaceful as ever. She couldn't resist the temptation, taking a picture of your gorgeous self with the stunning sunset flowing behind you and over the water. You looked over, seeing her as she pulled the camera down. You decided to walk over and sit beside her on the sand, asking to see the picture. She denied everything, but ... she couldn't say no to you for long. As she showered you, she began to defend herself.

• “I swear, I didn't mean to be creepy! I just didn't want to disturb you, and the photo op was too good! I just ... think that you are a really good subject ... you look so content here and I just wanted to capture it, I like seeing you happy ... I want to capture more of those moments ... and I want to be with you through those moments, if you'd let me. You, uh ... you make me feel feelings I've never felt for anyone else, and I think it's changing me for the better. No- ... it's growth. I wanna grow with you.”

• Haley was so vulnerable, and it made her so anxious ... but it paid off. It led to you two sharing a soft kiss under the sunset, something that you've both been waiting for this for a long time. Finally, Haley was learning how to be more accepting of people, including herself and you. She really wanted this to last, and so did you.

• Penny is a hopeless romantic, her books usually have romantic elements throughout the story. She loves the idea of romance, but she's a bit nervous to ever go through with it. What she's gone through with her mom has certainly made her feel ... inadequate. When it comes to anything, but especially connections with other people. The idea is so good but ... you probably don't think much of her.

• She doesn't get her hopes up, although the automatically recognizes these feelings as romantic. She's just glad she has you as a friend, she can't ruin that. She wouldn't dare. She keeps these feelings to herself, although the butterflies are erupting inside her stomach, and her hands are sweating so much more than normal. She's just going to have to deal with it.

• Penny didn't make any moves on you, she was way too nervous to even attempt that. She did ramble a lot more often around you, though. The more comfortable she got, the more she talked. She was finally comfortable enough to talk about her interests with someone, it felt so nice ... you were her safe space. She showed her gratitude through acts of service, doing little things for you without asking.

• One night, Penny came by your farm with a picnic basket. You hadn't come into town that day, so she assumed you had been hard at work. She brought you some food, which was definitely not the greatest, but she put her heart into it. You two ate under the stars. You complimented her cooking, even though she definitely had room to improve. She stuttered out a thank you before she began to ramble.

• “Th-Thank you! Although it's really no trouble, you do so much for me, this doesn't even compare ... you're always so kind and attentive and you actually listen to me, it's a relief. Feeling safe isn't something I'm normally used to, and I love being around you- I mean, who wouldn't? You're such a great person and I- ... I'm so sorry, I'm rambling again, aren't I? ... My face is red? Uh- ignore that! I-I'm sure it's just the humidity? ... there can be humidity in fall! ... I'm sorry ...”

• As she attempted to apologize, you gently pressed a finger to her lips. Then you grabbed her hand, lacing your fingers together with a gentle smile. You told her that you were glad that you were her safe space, and that she was yours. The rest of the night was a peaceful silence, staring up at the sky in each other's arms. Nights like these became tradition, now that you two were together.

Here's my first-listen review of TTPD and TTPD: The Anthology!

disclaimer: i broke down the rankings per album because trying to do them all together would've been a hell of a journey and would've taken more than one day / been more than just a "first listen." and per usual, take the songs at the bottom with a grain of salt because all of them are so close and even the ones at the bottom feel like they should be in the top ten

Overall review: wow, this was a lot to process. I keep trying to think about whether I like TTPD or TTPD: The Anthology better, but honestly I can't choose. so much heart-wrenching pain, such beautiful lyrics, and incredible reflections on love, loss, inner turmoil, what-ifs, and using writing as an outlet. this is absolutely going to be on repeat through spring and summer!

1. Fortnight - lowkey would've loved more Post Malone on this song but this is one of my faves!!

2. TTPD - I love the storytelling and I love the way Taylor says "TTPD" and "nofuckingbody" hehe

3. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys - the imagery?? "queen of sand castles he destroys"??? omg this is one of my faves.

4. Down Bad - Love this song sonically and love hearing Taylor say fuck LOL. this is my fave song i think!

5. So Long, London - 🥺🥺 "i'm pissed off that you let me give you all that youth for free" gives me goosebumps, i love this song

6. But Daddy I Love Him - tbh good for you taylor, get em. your life is your own and only you get to tell yourself what you can or can't do, or who you can or can't love!

7. Fresh Out the Slammer - the lyrics are so good and the bridge transition is so beautiful!!!

8. Florida!!! - same bbg, we all need a dose of escapism once in a while (also i love the 🍃 mention hehe). fuck me up florida!!!

9. Guilty as Sin? - this is the song I pre-claimed and tbh it does not disappoint at all!

10. Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? - the guitar, so good omg. the emotion in taylor's voice is raw and the female rage is palpable, love this song.

11. I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) - love the ending and love the chorus!!

12. loml - ouchie. the lyricism and that last chorus, wow.

13. I Can Do It With a Broken Heart - we love a good depressive pop song!! "all of the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting 'more!'" and the click track!!

14. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived - men ain't shit, taylor. what'd he do? I'll deliver your message LET ME AT EM-

15. The Alchemy - i'm so glad taylor is in a better place 🥹 it truly gives "karma is the guy on the chiefs coming straight home to me"

16. Clara Bow - such a beautiful song sonically, shows both the hope and hardships of wanting to be in the spotlight

17. The Black Dog - the second verse, OUCHIE. the bridge? i've died. i love this song more than i expected to.

18. imgonnagetyouback - i love the chorus and actually the entire song tbh

19. The Albatross - i'm very intrigued with the tale we're being told. people truly will read something about you, believe it, then crucify you for it.

20. Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus - such a beautiful, sad song. what-ifs (especially for people like taylor and i who have anxiety) can be so, so much more heart-wrenching than knowing

21. How Did It End? - the lyrics. the sound. everything unspoken. how everyone wants to know what happened but she's not even sure herself.

22. So High School - so goddamn cute!!! i couldn't be happier that taylor is happy and thriving with trav 🥹🫶

23. I Hate It Here - "when they found a better planet, only the gentle survived" BESTIE i wish. i'm there right with you, girl. the world is awful and living in your mind often is easier and better. also, i too read the secret garden as a child hehe

24. thanK you alMee - omg, this song. taylor is truly coming to terms with what gave her scars and acknowledging it and moving forward. i'm so fuckin proud of her.

25. I Look In People's Windows - "i'm afflicted by the not knowing" ugh me too girlie. the anxiety, the contemplation, the fantasies; i'm glad neither of us are alone in knowing these feelings all too well

26. The Prophecy - i love this song 🥺 it's one of my faves. it reminds me of Foolish One, it's so desperate and hopeful at the same time.

27. Cassandra - i'm a greek/roman history slut so i love this already. i love the intertwined story that she creates, it's powerful.

28. Peter - bruh this song makes me want to cry. Betty has turned off her porch light 🥺

29. The Bolter - I love the way this song sounds! the first chorus sets the stage so well and the chorus is lowkey catchy

30. Robin - precious lyrics about keeping children innocent so they can enjoy their childhood while they have it 💗

31. The Manuscript - as a poet and writer myself, i relate to this song so much. writing truly is an outlet for processing emotions and at the end of it, all of those feelings are part of the writing and no longer yours. you're free.

Hii! I read chapter 9 of slwy the day it came out but have unfortunately been to busy to send in a little review with my thoughts until now. I just reread it so the chapter is sitting fresh and clear in my head rn hehe

Anyways I was soooo annoyed with Lix this chapter, like good god let the woman speak for once and don’t talk over her! I get that you are jealous since you probably (most definitely) like y/n but you don’t have to be so mean to her. If y/n had my personality she would have torn him a new one instead of apologising I’m telling you (I still love you lix).

I’ve been wondering why everyone hates the city so much these past couple of chapters by the way. Perhaps since I myself haven’t lived in a smaller more rural area I can’t really grasp the disdain they have for the city, and how they could cut off one of their best friends for moving to it? I feel bad for yeonjun, but I’m glad he at least has y/n left.

As usual I loved this chapter! Especially the very last part when Hyun was talking to the loml Chan. Just the fact that he wants to take y/n to the exact same date she was so excited to go to a couple of years ago with her ex just shows how perfect they are for each other, how likeminded they are. This is also one of the things that make y/n and Hyun better together than y/n and lix. Lix would definitely listen to y/n talk about her art, but would be bored by it as he said himself, whereas hyun would passionately partake in such conversations. It’s the little things you know?

(I’m hoping all of this made sense, it’s 2am right now, I’m writing this on mobile and I’m to lazy to read through what I’ve written lol)

felix definitely was so annoying in part 9, and he really needs to handle or learn being in a confrontation because he didn’t even let her speak :/

its not about the city per say, its about the difference between the two places, and the stark contrast between the lives and lifestyle there. people tend to dislike things huge differences, and in my life ive actually met a lot of people who have hated or behaved really terribly with someone who were from a metropolitan, or a big city. i think stereotypes and prejudice play a big role in that :(

its definitely the little things ! hyun and yn have a connection that is very different from how she is with lix, that doesn’t mean her relationship with lix can’t be successful or a happy one, but hyun perhaps has the kind of personality that yn needs in her life, in terms of understanding her.

it made sense ! dont worry, and thank you again for sending me such a lovely review and for taking the time to do that🥺

Sometimes but this was a Christians who meditate, yeah intersting anyway it's about mental health and breathing... And yknow all that goodness...

You once said,.. Well actually twice, "you give me anxiety", I can't cure you per say but I too.. Have my own battles... As I suffer from alot. Some new things that are new to me and some not so new but getting treated for, now that I got out of hospital and just before the whole ughhh yeahhh before and now... I'm having acid reflux...yeah... I'd say have you tried meditation?
