so call me by fire season 3 will start next week. i watched the preview episode this week, and it was so good. i love so many of the dilfs they invited this season: cai guoqing, lu yi, hu bing, lin zhiying, shin, and lastly the very talented and funny wang yaoqing. (i picked three of my fav posters: hu bing, wang yaoqing, lu yi)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you know, ever since three body, i kinda play six degrees of zhang luyi whenever i watch a cdrama or cvariety. and there's a strong wang yaoqing connection because they worked together before. more importantly, this happened:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he freaking liked to work with zhang luyi the best, awwwwwww!!!!! and for this reason, wang yaoqing will always get bonus points from me lol.
and this is the show they filmed together. can't believe they turned a cishet family show about two pairs of married couples into this lol:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
can't blame the viewers for thinking the two look like a domestic couple when they kept having scenes in the bedroom, kitchen, laundry room, and the restaurant (to have a nice date) lol...

Abstract Deep neural networks (DNNs) are often used for text classification due to their high accuracy. However, DNNs can be computationally intensive, requiring millions of parameters and large amounts of labeled data, which can make them expensive to use, to optimize, and to transfer to out-of-distribution (OOD) cases in practice. In this paper, we propose a non-parametric alternative to DNNs that’s easy, lightweight, and universal in text classification: a combination of a simple compressor like gzip with a k-nearest-neighbor classifier. Without any training parameters, our method achieves results that are competitive with non-pretrained deep learning methods on six in-distribution datasets. It even outperforms BERT on all five OOD datasets, including four low-resource languages. Our method also excels in the few-shot setting, where labeled data are too scarce to train DNNs effectively. Code is available at https://github.com/bazingagin/npc_gzip.
(July 2023 – pdf)
“this paper's nuts. for sentence classification on out-of-domain datasets, all neural (Transformer or not) approaches lose to good old kNN on representations generated by.... gzip” [x]

Our approach consists of a lossless compressor, a compressor-based distance metric, and a k-Nearest-Neighbor classifier. Lossless compressors aim to represent information using as few bits as possible by assigning shorter codes to symbols with higher probability. The intuition of using compressors for classification is that (1) compressors are good at capturing regularity; (2) objects from the same category share more regularity than those from different categories.
Being parameter-free, our method doesn’t rely on GPU force but CPU resources only. Thus, it does not bring negative environmental impacts revolving around GPU. In terms of overgeneralization, we conduct our experiments on both in-distribution and out-of-distribution datasets, covering six languages. As compressors are data-type agnostic, they are more inclusive to datasets, which allows us to classify low-resource languages like Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, and Swahili and to mitigate the underexposure problem.

❃ Eastern and Southeastern Asians Facecast Help❃
Note: :D hi,  I’m tired of people casting the wrong facecast for characters in creations. So, I made a list.
Please stop interchanging East Asians and Southeast Asians (whether between the two or within).
Even with this list and other sources, please be sure to double-check every faceclaim you use in your creations/works, thank you.
List posted 10/6/2020
Updated 12/25/2020
Disclaimer:
Please let me know if there are any errors.
The creator of this list doesn’t have that much knowledge of South Asian celebrities and models. Please refer to other lists, thank you.

I’ve been watching Produce Camp 2020, though I’m not nearly as invested in it as I was/am in Youth With You 2/Qing Chun You Ni 2. The way they’ve formatted it and paced it this season is really not entirely doing it for me, though I do really like several trainees. First elimination I kind of just shrugged, with the way screen time was distributed, I had barely started recognizing anyone who got eliminated. There have been several performances that I quite enjoyed though, and I thought that the individual talents segment of the initial audition was an interesting addition (possibly the only “innovative change” they’ve made that I’ve actively enjoyed). Second elimination, I cared more for sure. (Putting my comments about trainees that were eliminated that I’m going to miss and the trainees that I currently especially like under the cut for spoilers reasons.)
First, trainees that I’m going to miss from this elimination (in no particular order)...
Cui Weimeixu: I enjoyed her personality on the show, and felt like she had a pretty solid skill set. I felt like we never quite got the chance to see all that she could do.
Miao Jingou: I really loved her voice in “Poem,” and I think that she was just starting to get the chance to show how talented she is. I’m sad to see her go, and hope that I’ll be able to see her do more in the future.
Tu Zhiying: I thought that she was cute and worked hard. She was clearly a very quick learner when it came to dancing, and seemed to be pretty talented. And she was rapidly improving vocally and seemed to have some solid ability. I’m sad to not see her get the chance to improve further.
Trainees I really like currently working my way up from the bottom of the rankings to the top of the rankings, so in order of most worried about to least worried about making it through the next eliminations:
Zhong Feifei: I really like her voice and think that she’s very talented. She’s also gorgeous and has awesome stage presence. I think that she’s clearly showing a lot of improvement and growth as she moves through the show, and I really hope that brings her more votes.
Wang Ke: I like her personality, and I’m really enjoying how hardworking she is and how well she learns and improves. She’s got so much stage presence, and her voice is really lovely and interesting. I want to hear more of her singing.
Hu Maer: I really enjoyed the TH Ent girls to start off with (we’ll get to the one I wan already invested in later), and I think that Hu Maer is well rounded. She’s a really solid and expressive dancer, and she’s got a really nice, stable voice. Also her smile is so attention catching.
Lin Junyi: I really want to see her do well partially because she didn’t get her chance the first time around (and I was rooting for her to get further first time around). She’s an excellent dancer and performer.
Wang Yijin: I really really like her voice. I’m excited to see how she does with the next performance.
Liu Xiening: She is (was?) one of my favorite Gugudan members, and I was always disappointed that she didn’t get many chances to show her abilities, so I’m glad that she’s really getting support here.
Zhao Yue: While I don’t particularly follow SNH48, she was one of the members that I was aware of and liked, so it’s good to see her doing well here in a format that I honestly get to enjoy her talents in more.
Chen Zhouxuan: This is the main person I came into the show pre-invested in! I liked her voice a lot already from what she’d done in the past (mainly on The Untamed/CQL’s soundtrack, but also I’d seen her singing clips from the singing competition she was on before). I honestly think that she’s got my favorite voice in the entire show, and I do appreciate that while she’s a far stronger vocal than dancer, she’s able to solidly keep up and look like she fits in during the dancing elements.
Nene: Her voice is good, she’s a solidly good dancer too. While she’s not in the very top of my favorites, I really do think that she’s earned her spot in the show. I’m relieved to hear her Mandarin getting more comfortable as she goes on because I felt stressed for her sake at the start.
Xilinayi Gao (Curley Gao): I was somewhat aware of her in advance of the show because she’d been on Sing!China (but not one of the seasons that I watched really closely). She’s got an amazing voice, and she is also solidly well rounded. I definitely think that she’s earned her spot as well, and I’m really happy to see her doing this well.
I’m very interested in this next round of performances, and I’m glad that it looks like the pacing of the show is going to tighten up a little bit from here on out based on the time frame of the next voting round. While I don’t expect all of my personal top 7 (Chen Zhouxuan, Xilinayi Gao, Wang Ke, Xu Maer, Zhong Feifei, Wang Yijin, Li Junyi) to make it through the next elimination round, I’m at least happy that I’m expecting 7 of my current top 10 to make it through. I just hope that the ones who do not get good screen time and are able to do interesting things in the future.

小戏骨’s Legend of the Condor Heroes!
I know that the new Legend of the Condor Heroes is airing right now, but I am so incredibly excited for the 小戏骨 version.
Guo Jing is played by Shi Xiaosong, a student at Shaolin, and he looks a lot like Felix Wong in the 1983 version!

Huang Rong is played by Tao Yixi, famous for her role of Bai Suzhen in 小戏骨’s Legend of White Snake. (Her costume design seems to be modeled after the 1994 version.)
靖蓉!

Mu Nianci is played by Zhou Zhiying, famous for her role of Xu Xian in 小戏骨‘s Legend of White Snake. (I think her costume design looks like it’s from the 2008 version.)

And Yang Kang is played by Xiaoyang Bohan, who has played many leading roles in the 小戏骨 adaptations, including Jiao Yulu and Lin Xiaocong (补锅). (His costume design is based off of the 1983 version.)

Ge Yide, who played Cheya in 小戏骨’s Mulan adaptation, plays Wanyan Honglie. (His costume design looks quite like the 1983 version.)

Little Bao Xiruo with little Wanyan Honglie!
Tumblr media
I don’t know who plays Ouyang Ke, but he looks pretty good as the role.
Tumblr media
I don’t the names for who plays the Six Freaks of Jiangnan, but they are also looking good.
Tumblr media
Chen Yuheng, who played Fa Hai in their The Legend of White Snake and Mulan’s father in their adaptation of Mulan, plays Yang Tiexin. (He seems to always be playing older characters.)
Rehearsal of the “spar for a spouse” scene. (杨康/肖杨博涵好高啊~)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since they can’t make a full 50 episode long adaptation (and also due to the fact that kids are acting it out), a lot of the story may be cut and edited, but I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
