it really does suck that it was renamed to JWST, for many reasons, but one reason i wanna emopost about is that its original name was just. so good already.
its original name was Next Generation Space Telescope. and i honest to god feel like that would have been a kickass name? because, like, when being presented as HST's successor, it really is coming to define a new generation in astronomy. while the chandra, spitzer, and upcoming rubin telescopes, etc. are fucking phenomenal, they're geared more towards the nitty gritty science, and so the general public isn't as aware of them. but hubble? hubble does the science, AND it does the public outreach. hubble is probably THE most well-known space telescope, nay, the most well-known telescope PERIOD. and it's been going strong for 32 fucking years. so when you have a new telescope being presented as hubble's successor, it has a HUGE legacy to stand up to - so yes, in a way, it literally is coming to define a new generation in astronomy. a new generation of future astronomers who will be inspired to join the field because of it, and a new generation of the general public who will grow up alongside its development as well. this is, in fact, the Next Generation's space telescope

A little love letter to Din Djarin writers... 馃
I love that some of you write him as soft and gentle while others focus on the darker, harsher parts of his personality. I love that he can be both a quiet, kind man caring for his child or an intimidating, terrifying bounty hunter who is a lean, mean killing machine... depending on what the fic warrants.
I love how you write him with other characters from The Mandalorian or even with those who would never cross paths with him in canon, from Star Wars or elsewhere. I love how you write him interacting with yourselves and us, and some of you even create your own original characters to exist a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away alongside him.
I love that some of you ship him with that one other special person, while others recognise how desirable he is and ship alllllll the ships. Not forgetting those of you which are here for none of those ships and/or even headcanon him as ace. I love that any of those options allow you to explore your own identities and sexualities through him.
I love that you can write the most tooth-rotting fluff or filthiest smut, and all of those things in between. Whether it's for general audiences or explicit and strictly 18+ ... all of your fics have an audience and someone out there who appreciates your writing.
I love how differently you can interpret him, but there are also so many common themes and tropes running through your writing. I love that there is room for all of your Dins here.
I love that he means so much to you and that all of us here hold him in our hearts a little bit. I love that we can all watch the same episodes and come to entirely different conclusions about him. I love how much we love him.
Getting to be a part of this wonderful community and interact with so many people who love the space tin can man as much as I do has truly been one of the best things that happened to me recently. I'm so glad I made this little blog... It reminded me just how good fandom can be. I am blown away by the number of talented people here!
So, I just wanted to take a moment to express some gratitude towards all of you! Thank you for writing your Dins and please don't ever stop. Finally.... last, but not least:
I love Din Djarin!!!

a double post! there are two polls for outfit deciding right now as of uh. posting. but here is the one for odile!
what i mean by "main fit": the outfit she will be wearing most often whenever she is around. the other options will not be blasted into nothingness tho! they will sit in her wardrobe and will be used much more sparingly compared to the main.

as cool as their design is im really starting to dislike the sonau in general, aside from their stuff suddendly being everywhere and everything being about them and how cool(tm) they are now with the mystery stone turning people into dragons and the similarities between the sonau and the three dragons (naydra, eldra, farodra) its actually not an impossibility that they used to be sonaus as alot of people have been theorizing about ..but ...... idk that would very much ruin their otherwordly yet ethereal mystery to me
i probably sound like some hater whos trying to find something more to dislike about totk all the time but i promise im not!!
the three dragons being some unexplained mystery, beings that are there yet few can see them, timeless, nigh untouchable, they dont act on anything, they dont talk, something about them has always made me look at them in awe; if it turned out they were just yet another cool(tm) sonau guy that ate a stone ... :/
not a fan of that one lads, but dont worry, i will keep my thoughts to myself from now on, i dont want to ruin other peoples fun nor seem like i just hate everything ... the three dragons are just really important to me so i had to say something

also this isnt really proper shade at larian or anything and the writing of this game is SAURE good so dont take it this way but.
i sure do wish. Minthara was not villain batted as hard as she was. Her being locked to "evil" runs and being mutually exclusive with several party members. Her being nothing more than a miniboss for your average player- who does not even know shes a potential party member! Her being so chronically unloved by the community because... shes the "evil" companion. Hell, even the amount of people saying frankly really edgy shit about killing her or hurting her completely unprompted lmao. Like I genuinely think shes been pretty unfairly demonized both by the community and by the meta of just like... the game itself because she's really actually..... kind of, dare I say, sweet? if you get to know her. ugh.

one thing i love about universes with feral/quadrupedal animals is when they redesign items familiar to us to better fit characters who don't have hands. like year they can't wear bags the same way we do so they instead have harnesses/saddles like this cause of course they would:
or using latch doorknobs OR EVEN swinging doors being more commonplace. animals like cats and dogs can open those easier in real life so translating that into a fictional world is a fun idea. why would a world full of mainly no-thumb-havers even bother with round knobs lol
oooo or the issue of sanitation because if you are using your paw/hooves/etc to walk....are you expected to wash them anytime you use them like hands or does the general population just ignore that because "hell we all do it". is there a mix of reactions because of cultural differences? how do winged creatures like bats and birds deal with...any of this????
all the unique ways they could build weapons and armor...do they have artificial horns or claws they could put on? how practical would a wielding a sword/spear via your mouth be???
also when everything like architecture or furniture is scaled down or altered for quads. is super fun visually as well. it makes my brain go: ":)" every single time

Melatonin is a delicate balancing act, it took some time to find a dose that helped me fall and stay asleep without leaving me groggy after 8/10 hours. For me, that has been 10 mg gradually increased to such over a few weeks then steady since.
I also take roughly a week without it every month or two, as the bottle recommends. Listen to your body and do what you can. Good luck, and thank you for the sweet gay were/pire comic<3
Yeah, I can tell my sweet zone is somewhere between 3 and 6 mg, at least right now. Or at least I think it is. Admittedly my sleep has been absolutely horrible since I was a kid so my standards on "not tired" are pretty low, so I'm not actually sure if they're any good right now. All I know is I'm getting more than 2 hours of sleep at a time, and I'm not spending every waking moment fighting off a nap!
Thanks for the confirmation I've gotta test with it and go off and on and such, my doc didn't give me a straight answer on that (he just kept saying take it as needed... I need it every night!!!). 75% of the time being good is way better than 0% so I'll take what I can get!
And the gay comics are the least I can do 馃А thank you for reading it!

Please tell us abt the parallels :o
YEAH OKAY SO!!!!
in this au (and as i write ralsei in my canon always lol) the biggest thing that puts pressure on ralsei's life is the prophecy--it says a human, a monster, and a prince from the dark, and because it is a prophecy, and it is fate, is HAS to be true, and ralsei, as a darkner, a group of people who literally exist below the lightners, is charged with bringing this prophecy into fruition. she has spent her entire life ALONE, with nothing but this prophecy for comfort, saying that one day, ONE DAY, she'll get through this and she'll have friends. but yknow, that weighs on a person! its heavy and terrible and she has contorted herself to fit what fate tells her she must be.
and then for noelle, the big thing putting pressure on her? her dead siblings (dess and kris. kris isnt technically her sibling but yknow for ease of language thats what i use. also we know they arent dead but noelle and the rest dont). with their deaths means noelle is now the baby of the family, a family that is shaped by this great gaping grief noelle cannot comprehend, because when dess and kris died she was young enough she barely remembers them beyond like, maybe half-formed memories but she isnt sure if those are real or just what people have told her. shes expected to be grieving her dead siblings but really she just sort of. hates them a little bit. for going off and dying and now her mom and toriel are super overprotective of her, and she knows its her fault asriel never left to go to college and hasnt even left hometown, and its just. its rough.
so both noelle and ralsei have these Huge things that have defined their lives that neither of them want, but. too bad! WHICH LEADS TO EVEN MORE PARALLELS. slash foils lol.
because when it comes to the prophecy? noelle isnt supposed to be in it!!! while this au is sort of a roleswap in that noelle takes kris's place its not a roleswap in Any Other Way, which means, yeah, the prophecy is still supposed to be a human. and noelle, uh, isnt that! but she goes around and helps close dark worlds and is part of the delta warriors anyways, which is, for ralsei, this like, really scary point.
cause ralsei? adores noelle!! thats her best friend!!! ralsei doesnt know if she has a crush on noelle or wants to be noelle! noelle just does what she WANTS. she bucks against the pressures her family puts on her. she dives into the dark despite the fact that this world was never made for her. shes TRANS. shes a GIRL, and she can just DO THAT, and ralsei looks at her, and just. wants. in every sense of the word.
because noelle has all these things put on her like ralsei does--but noelle gets to slip out of them. noelle gets to be a person.
and ralsei, non-person, darkner: she doesnt.
she never will.

At which point did you realise that the plot of IW is ass? I've seen people complain only about the ending or the halfway point where the teams separate, while I was already actively rolling my eyes like four-five chapters in
i think the moment i fully accepted that IW's story was. Definitely A Story was the moment ebina announced 'bleach japan'. like i think leading up to that point i was thinking to myself 'oh i hope i see X happen' or being like 'i wonder where this is going' and that sort but the proverbial bucket of ice was definitely that moment

if you've talked to me at all since the first big episode we had in carihien then you know how much i disliked the decision to go for a rococo aesthetic given what we know about cairhien in the books lol
by invoking the french revolution you bring in the audiences preconceived notions about what that time period was like. in popular historical imagination its a situation where the rich hoarded all the wealth until the poor rose up and killed them, which is simple but true in broad strokes. while we definitely see a wealth divide similar to this in the books (particularly with the forgate), it also isn't really the best analogy for the state cairhien is in in the mainline of the series in the books.
due to the aiel war and their custom for taking one fifth of the property from their enemies when they defeat them, the land has low-key been strip mined. by the time rand gets there the towers are still covered in scaffolding, we see that the aiel are still passing around treasures from cairhien when we spend more time in the wastes in later books, famine is imminent and the line of succession is tenuous at best. the caste system is also a bit more complex (convoluted?) than the french rev analogy as the average viewer might interpret it implies. the upper class are essentially killing and torturing each other to have power for like a week over dwindling resources that they will be assassinated for starting the cycle of power struggle all over again. if cairhien is anything french rev it's like. IMMEDIATELY post revolution not pre just in terms of a chaotic, painful rearrangement of society
cairhien in the books a nation that used to have way more sway politically on the continent having to come to terms with the fact that it's future means potentially abandoning sovereignty or becoming increasingly dependent on the nations around it for aid. and i think the architectural aesthetic described in the books (granted, as recreated in my mind palace) is way more interesting!! we could have had organic brutalist wood clad skyscrapers!!!
i think the idea of dark wood and geometric design with sharp angles is also more interesting thematically in communicating how the people of cairhien operate as a society. this kind of minimalist presentation belying the fact that they literally might not own as many ostentatious family heirlooms as they used to, but also giving the false impression that the home owner is being transparent and has nothing to hide. the ultimate "im an open book" power move while they are all hiding way more secrets than than their walls might imply lol
by not talking about laman and the lingering impact of the aiel war, season 2 just ended up feeling like the writers had sanded the more dynamic political dimensions and ideas surrounding cairhien in the books for an easy visual catch all

throughout the series of drake and josh it pretty consistently implies that josh nichols is a christian (josh peck is jewish) and in the finale of the series helen (played by yvette nicole brown, not jewish[?]) is portrayed as a practicing jew
