One thing I never see people talk about is that canonically, Terusai is super one-sided...

From SAIKI'S side.

Over the course of the series, Saiki's respect for Teruhashi grows with every interaction. He bends over backwards to prevent her feelings from being hurt, he puts less and less effort into avoiding her, he looks after her safety and happiness, he risks his reputation by publicly rescuing her, he's fascinated by her beauty the one time he gets to admire her, she galvanizes him into action when he's in shock about the meteor and the "return" of his powers.

On the other hand, Teruhashi starts caring about the fake fanboy version of him she invented, and over time, grows comfortable with the fake silent glum mask he projects. She doesn't find him physically attractive and she struggles to compliment him to his grandfather. She likes how safe he makes her feel, and finds his presence comforting, but at no time does she know his actual personality, nor does she really make any real attempt to get to know him better, instead focusing on ways to impress him and make him "offu". She knows that her fanclub could put him in danger (hence tossing her chocolates out the window) but still calls on them to force him to hang out with her on multiple occasions.

In order for them to have a real relationship, Teruhashi would have to learn Saiki's actual personality and decide whether she likes it as much as the fake versions she fell in love with.

But for that to happen, Saiki would have to reveal his powers (prerequisite for showing his real personality), which would immediately force Teruhashi to face three MAJOR crises:

The INCREDIBLE mortification of blindly chasing after someone who could hear every one of her mean/rude/bizarre/thirsty thoughts and who was trying to let her down gently the whole time for SIX FUCKING YEARS, all while she made SO much trouble for him

The subsequent reckoning about what it means to be a "perfect pretty girl" after finding out someone was watching her struggle and fail at it, plus the possibility that people only like her because her beauty is a magical power like Saiki's ESP, and NOT because any inherent goodness or effort on her own behalf

The fact that her fans almost killed both Saiki and Nendo when he was "powerless", and the realization that the Kokomins (whether part of the club or not) have almost certainly hurt many people on her behalf, and that she herself has mobilized them against Saiki before. Also the fact that they actually control her almost as much as she controls them, because she has to work so hard to meet and exceed their expectations

While Saiki already knows and likes her for who she is, Teruhashi (who regularly goes to mental and physical extremes to maintain her persona) is going to have to grapple with her own sense of self before she can even really find out what Saiki's actually like, much less have a healthy relationship with him.

And meanwhile Saiki knows that dating Teruhashi would be a major risk for him, as much as he might like to, because she attracts so much attention that it would constantly risk his identity.

There's so much baggage they have to work through in canon in order to finally be on the same page, and so much to explore psychologically, especially when you remember that Teruhashi is also apparently only 5 minutes away from starting a cult based on like every canon AU hsfjdlshfks.

She's under a huge amount of stress! Has been for a long time! And then if the guy she thought she knew turned out to be a god, sometimes even The God she prays to, what's that going to do to her psyche??

Anyways this post got away from me but there's so much fertile ground for really interesting analysis and character development! But I've never seen anyone tackle any of this so I figured I'd type it up in case people didn't realize just HOW bonkers it all is lol!

Back on my human au ideas...

More about Asmo, I think he's still obsessed with clothes & makeup, is a social media abuser, & tries to get Satan to wear something other than professor jackets with elbow patches. He's mildly TikTok famous for posting high quality videos of him doing amazing drag looks and makeup tutorials.

He often tries to join Beel for workouts on the farm, but doesn’t have Beel’s stamina & gets tired halfway through. Makes them both protein shakes. Helps out at the farmer’s market.

Mammon is a mechanic. He has to be because that's a human au situation I've always loved for him. Like yeah, he could own a casino and all that, but I want to focus on something a little different for him. And I love the idea of him being a mechanic who owns his own car repair garage, but it specializes in super expensive cars. Like all your Porsches and Maseratis and so on. And of course he has a couple of his own that he drives around. He likes to drive out to Beel's and he'll take any of his brothers for a spin if they want.

Regularly picks up Asmo from various places in customer's cars just because it makes him feel special.

He probably does a little illegal street racing, just because this is Mammon we're talking about.

He's in on Satan's rare bookseller connections. Turns out he's really good at finding such rarities, too, so when he does, they sell them together. That's if Satan can even manage to part with whatever Mammon finds lol.

Beel won't let Mammon into the corn fields, though. Man attracts too many crows for some reason. When they first discover this, Mammon feels so bad about it that he spends several days building Beel multiple scarecrows. They're still scattered through Beel's fields.

Mammon will also take Belphie for midnight drives out to places that have good views of certain celestial bodies. He loves to drive and he loves to see his little brothers doing what they love, so it's a win-win.

And of course, Mammon still does modeling occasionally. He won't do it full time because of the work involved, but if the price is right, he'll accept an offer or two.

One time Asmo gets really into making a marketing campaign for Mammon's garage which involved Mammon modeling with various expensive cars. Most of the pictures were a little too risque to use lol.

Imagine getting dumped a week before your birthday.

Lucky me I don't have to imagine.

I was stupid to think things had been going even a little good with the guy I was seeing but I just wanted to prove my best friend wrong.

My best friend since diapers that is.

Having Joe Burrow as your best friend should be a flex but it was a curse.

We couldn't go out in public anymore and I stopped going to his games since his rookie year because of a rumor that I was his girlfriend.

Joe was super apologetic about it but refused to make a statement saying that we weren't together.

It ended up being a huge argument that wouldn't be resolved til weeks later… but now Joe and I were neck-deep into another quarrel.

My friend from high school told me that my ex-boyfriend from senior year had a mega glow-up. I reached out to him and though he had matured looks-wise… he was still the same douche he was years ago.

I was bored so why not entertain it for just a little bit?

That was a big mistake because I ended up developing real feelings for him.

That's when Joe and I had our argument.

He told me that it was a bad idea, but I told him he didn't know what was good for me. Both of us ended up saying words we wish we hadn't. Now Joe and I haven't talked for three weeks.

Our families would get together regularly but if Joe found out I was going he'd say he was busy, and vice versa.

Today was my 26th birthday, oh and that's another thing about Joe. He loved bringing up that he was older than me.

I had invited him to the party today even though we were in the middle of a fight because it wouldn't be the same without him nonetheless.

Joe hadn't sent a message back or even reacted to the message, just left it on read.

There was a pretty low chance of him even coming, but I wanted him to have the option to come if he wanted.

I sat in the kitchen, looking through the window over the sink at the backyard decorated and full of people.

Except the one person I wanted here, wasn't here.

“Sweetie…” - your mom walked up behind you and squeezed your shoulder

“He actually didn't come, Mom. Joe hasn't ever missed one of my birthday parties. Have I gone too far?” - you

“You haven't done anything wrong, honey. Have you told him about Chad breaking up with you? That might make him a little happy.” - your mom

“Why’d that make him happy?” - you rolled your eyes

“y/n… because he didn't want you guys together for a reason.” - your mom smiled

“He just didn't like Chad.” - you sighed

“I don’t think you're reading into this enough. I've seen the way you guys look at each other, and it's not in a best-friend way. Don't you think it's kinda odd he’s always gotten mad when you go on a date with a guy or get a boyfriend? There's something there that isn't purely platonic, and it's not one-sided either, y/n. I think he feels the same way about you that you feel about him.” - your mom

The way I feel about him.

The feelings that had slowly turned from friendship to finding him attractive to having a full-blown crush on him. It didn't happen in just a month or even a year, this has been going on since OSU.

I've never even thought about confessing to him because it just felt like a one-in-a-million chance that he felt the same way. I'm his best friend or was, there's no way he likes me.

My mom ended up making me go outside to socialize with my family and close friends who were basically family… minus one.

There was a part of me that had hope that Joe was going to come but now that I had changed out of my party outfit and was helping my mom clean up, all hope was gone.

I had my back turned to the door taking the Happy Birthday banner so when I heard the sliding door I figured it was my dad.

“Hope I'm not too late.” - Joe

My heart stopped when I heard the last voice I expected to hear. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my mom give me a wink before she walked back inside.

Turning around to face Joe, he stood in front of me with a tower of gifts in his hands.

“Parties already over Joe might as well just go home.” - you

“Listen… I had full intentions of coming but I was working out and l lost track of time. There was this pee-wee football team who all wanted pictures with me and I gave them a little speech. Anyway, the moral of the story is… I’m so sorry that I'm late and have been such a jerk the past couple of weeks. I hope you'll forgive me because it's not fun going a long time without talking to you. Happy Birthday… by the way.” - Joe

Without saying a word I took the gifts from Joe’s hands and placed them on the table I was cleaning off.

“I deserve th-” - Joe

Before he could finish his sentence I engulfed him in a huge hug.

“I missed you.” - you

Joe was tense at first but relaxed and cradled the back of my head against his strong chest.

“I missed you too… so much.” - Joe

“I’m glad you came.” - you mumbled

“Me too.” - Joe

We stayed there for a moment, way too long of a hug for ‘best friends’.

“I have something to tell you.” - you

“Me too, but can I go first?” - Joe

I nodded and Joe forged ahead, our arms still around each other.

“I’m sorry about how I acted about Chad, as long as you're happy then I’m happy, and if he makes you feel that way then so be it. Maybe you're right too, maybe he has changed. I shouldn't judge someone off of their past.” - Joe

“Joe I appreciate your apology but he broke up with me a week ago, that's what I was going to tell you.” - you

“Oh. I'm sorry… I hope it wasn't messy. Are you okay?” - Joe

“I’m fine. Just sucks that yet another guy has driven me closer to losing faith in the male species.” - you

“Maybe you're just not dating the right guys. There's someone out there who will show you true love, I'm sure of it.” - Joe

His words made me feel hopeful and sad at the same time. Joe believed that there was someone out there who was right for me, but I wanted it to be him.

“Thanks, Joe.” - you

“Mhm. He might be closer to you than you think…” - Joe

I looked up at him with a skeptical look on my face, but he looked serious.

“What do you mean?” - you gulped

Joe tugged at my waist and looked down at me with such a twinkle in his eyes.

“y/n… you're my best friend.” - Joe

“Mhm…” - you

“I need to tell you the truth then.” - Joe

“Joe… what?” - you

“I wasn't pissed off that you went out with Chad because I thought he'd hurt you… I was pissed because you wanted to go out with him.” - Joe

“Wh… what?” - you

“For as long as I can remember I've just been your best friend, the guy you go to complain about other guys, and I can't take it anymore.” - Joe

He tried to read my expression but when he got nothing, he dropped his arms from my waist and nervously played with his wristbands as he kept going.

“I know it sounds like a stupid Hallmark movie line… but I don't want you to keep getting hurt when there's someone who can treat you so much better right at your fingertips.” - Joe

“Who, Joe? You keep saying that but won't say who.” - you sighed

“Me! Me, y/n. I've been hopelessly in love with you for years while I just stood to the side and watched you look for love in the wrong faces. This might ruin our friendship but it's not fair if I don't tell you… I want to be more than just your best friend.” - Joe

My jaw dropped open as my heart rate rapidly increased. He felt the same way?

“You’re in love with me?” - you

“Yes, and I'm sorry if that makes things awkward… I just really want to show you that not all men are pieces of shit.” - Joe

I stood up on my tiptoes and crashed my lips into his. Joe was taken aback at first but kissed back with just as much passion.

Joe wrapped his strong arms around my waist and held me against him as we kissed. Neither one of us wanted to be the one to break away first.

In the end, I did. I needed to say those words back to him.

“Joe, I'm in love with you too.” - you

“Yeah?” - Joe smiled

“Have been for a long time, I just was worried you didn't feel the same way and it would ruin our friendship to confess.” - you

He flashed that perfect smile at me and laced his fingers with mine.

“Can I kiss you again?” - Joe

“Go for it.” - you smiled

Joe pushed me into him by my hips and my hands went to his chest.

“Everything okay out her- oh my!” - your mom

Though I'm sure Joe heard her just as well as I did, we didn't break away from each other and went on claiming each other’s lips.

When Joe and I finally did disengage from our kiss, we both laughed as he wiped his salvia off of my lips.

My arms wrapped around his middle and I laid my head on his shoulder.

“So I guess I can ask you what I've been dreaming about asking you for years.” - Joe

“Mhm.” - you grinned

“Wanna go out with me tomorrow?” - Joe

“As friends?” - you played dumb, just wanting to hear him say it

“I was thinking more of… boyfriend and girlfriend because we can skip the get-to-know-you stage right? Only if that's okay with you…” - Joe

I pulled my head away from his chest and kissed his soft, freshly shaven cheek.

“That sounds perfect to me.” - you looked into those gorgeous blue eyes you've come to be obsessed with

“Will you be my girlfriend?” - Joe

“Only if you'll be my boyfriend.” - you

“Sounds like a deal.” - Joe

Joe and I stepped away from each other before we shook hands in agreement, something we'd done to solve things since we were little.

We laughed together as we walked up to the back door hand in hand, happy that we'd probably resolved the arguing for the time being.

As we opened the door it revealed both of our moms standing there in a pose that looked like they had their ears on the door just a few seconds ago.

“Yes?” - you

“Can we help you?” - Joe

“What's going on with you two?” - Robin

“Yeah, what she said. What does this hand-holding mean?” - your mom

Joe and I exchanged a look and nonchalantly shrugged before he spoke up.

“We’re dating.” - Joe

“What?!” - your mom’s in sync

“How’d this happen? You guys have been fighting for weeks.” - your mom

“It just kinda happened.” - you shrugged

Robin and my mom looked at each other skeptically.

“Are you sure you guys aren't rushing things just a little bit?” - Robin

“Mom, I've never been more sure about anything else in my life.” - Joe

I looked at him with a surprised look on my face, he only winked with a wide grin and reassuringly squeezed my hand.

“Me too.” - you

Not to get too serious about something that was super fun and we all enjoyed immensely, but I keep thinking about the Mega Bastards headcanon video because the thing is...

in A1P1 Agent Mega is already shown to be drinking alcohol at inappropriate times (i.e. trying to escape a Russian weapons facility with his boyfriend). We tend to focus on Curt's drinking post-banana because of course we do. It's a traumatic event (even if it's his fault, ugh agent Mega) and definitely accelerates his drinking to the degree that he can't do his job for four years.

BUT he clearly already has a drinking problem at the beginning of the show. Owen reacts to him drinking out of the flask like this is a thing Curt regularly does, a thing Owen is at least somewhat concerned about. Curt even (very defensively) teases Owen into taking a swig himself.

So thinking about what Actor Curt Mega believes about Agent Curt Mega, that he regularly used to have to seduce women despite having no interest in women, it just makes the Mega bastards lore (as much fun as I've had with that) incredibly fucking sad. Like most things with SAF, first it's a farce, then it's a tragedy.

Curt Mega even uses the term "masking" (which definitely shot me in the heart as an AuDHD person), and while I personally headcanon Agent Mega as ADHD, there are still plenty of things that ADHDers have to conceal about themselves. A gay neurodivergent man in the 1950s-1960s would have to conceal so much about themselves that it absolutely could lead to substance use as a way to deal with it. Substance use is a pretty serious problem for ADHD & autistic (and queer!!) people precisely because we live in a society that is not built for us, that is often actively hostile to us, and we have to find ways to survive that.

Maybe this is too personal but I'm a chronic oversharer- my dad had alcohol use disorder. It destroyed his life. He passed away several years ago, and one of the hardest parts of my getting diagnosed with ADHD & autism as an adult was having to really reckon with the fact that he wasn't drinking because he was a bad person or because he didn't love me- he was drinking because he was born in the 50s and things like ADHD & autism weren't as well-understood, and as someone who was certainly autistic and possibly ADHD (there's a heavy genetic component there) he had to hide so much of himself. All the time. He was masking 24 hours a day. And I think he coped with that incredible pressure and physical and emotional distress by drinking. That drinking often made him defensive and petty and irresponsible.

Anyways, the more I think about the Mega bastards lore, the more heartbreaking it becomes. Agent Curt Mega's job requires him to have sex he doesn't want to have with people he is not attracted to. His life, safety, reputation, freedom all depend on nobody knowing he is in love with a man.

Actor Curt Mega kinda nailed it when he used the term "masking." There is really no part of Agent Mega's life where he is allowed to be himself, except for **maybe** when he and Owen are alone together, so when Owen "dies" and Agent Mega loses that one tiny place where he gets to be his authentic self, his drinking just goes over the edge.

As an Owen Carvour apologist I sometimes feel like the narrative doesn't really punish Agent Mega for being kind of an asshole in A1P1, but I'm sort of reframing it after the headcanon video, because it does make me wonder how much of that asshole behavior stems from his persistent alcohol use, his defensiveness when people point out issues arising from his alcohol use (Owen, Cynthia criticising his job performance), and the general macho tough guy affect Agent Mega has adopted to just survive living as a neurodivergent gay man in the 1950s.

I know it was just a fun unofficial kickstarter goal (and I got to make like six tinlightenment promo posts out of it so thank you for the promo content, sir), but it has legitimately kinda forced me to extend empathy to Agent Mega in a way that I didn't really do before.

I've been trying to urge myself back into writing a little bit more and this was a nice little challenge to help me reach that goal. I've been obsessed with Gia Margaret's album, Romantic Piano, these days and I ended up listening to Ways of Seeing on repeat while prattling down these ideas, so naturally, I've named this piece after that song. This isn't my favorite thing I've ever written? But it's been a hot second since I've been regularly writing fanfic so forgive me lmao.

𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 ⟡ slightly established relationship, Javier crosses a physical boundary, allusions to Javi and reader having a sexual relationship but nothing explicit is described (regardless, minors, please do not interact), overall fluff and healthy communication

He wasn’t used to this. Any of it, really. Having a lady friend was a new one and by far the most surprising turn of his life at that point. But a lady friend who shrugged off his little touches like he was a pesky insect was another thing. At first he figured it was a reputation thing. Having him slung around you in the halls wouldn’t attract the good kind of attention for either of you. He could handle the jabs and jokes; he always had.

It’s why he hadn’t thought too much about it the first time he caught you in front of the copier and placed a hand on your hip. “What’s that you’re working on, querida?” he’d asked in that low, gravelly tone of his that usually drove you wild.

He swore he felt you jump; momentarily startled before you straightened your shoulders and pushed them back. He couldn’t see your expression, but he already knew he wouldn’t find an ounce of reciprocation to his teasing there anyways when you answered firmly, “Messina asked for copies of this report. She’s got a meeting in twenty minutes.”

Javier’s hand slid around your front, fingers playing at the edges of your top. “You think that’d be enough time?” he mumbled.

You swirled around on your heel and glared at him with a raised eyebrow, “For what exactly?”

“I thought that we had something going…?”

“Just because we have something going it doesn’t just give you the freedom to accost me whenever you want.”

Javier took a step back and folded his arms, getting ready to rocket into defensiveness.

Before he could get a word in, you continued, “I know that you’re comfortable with the flirting and the teasing…but I’m not. It’s fine when it’s just the two of us.” You struggled to get an accurate grasp of your words, “But outside of that…it’s just…uncomfortable? Do you get that?”

His stomach sank as he was reminded of the type of men he’d helped put away in the past. The kind who had no regard for anyone or anything aside from their own wants. He thought of those butterflies in his chest whenever he caught your eye from across a room. How they glittered with the allusion of a secret; that secret being something special that only you and him shared. Your eyes were now shadowed with a layer of caution. How quickly those butterflies of his had turned into an invasive species.

He slowly raised his hands, admitting defeat before divulging, “I apologize. I– I didn’t mean to overstep.”

You blinked a few times before turning back around and grabbing the stack of fresh papers from the printer. “I think we should set some boundaries.”

“Boundaries? What kind of boundaries?”

“Well…for now…let’s keep the public displays of affection at a minimum. Can we do that?”

“Of course. Whatever you need. I hear you,” Javier nodded firmly.

As you started to tell him goodbye and head towards Messina’s office, one more thought popped into his mind. He reached forward to place a hand on you before stopping himself and clearing his throat instead. “Wait–”

“Yeah?”

The corner of his lip curled up into a smug smile. “Just to be clear…we’re still okay on the private displays of affection, right?”

You rolled your eyes and replied, “We’re alright in that department, Peña, don’t you worry.”

“Sounds good, keep me posted if anything changes,” he said with a quick wink before sauntering away, leaving you cradling the warm papers against your chest, knowing that you could tell him if anything did change.

you asked about how I think he'd ACTUALLY navigate a relationship, so I went a little deranged thinking about it cause the guy is FASCINATING to analyze. sorry if you were expecting something else! like, something more romantic? if you just want romance stuff, deffo feel free to leave another ask being more specific!

Right off the bat, Forget Me Not strikes me as a type of person who has a lot of trouble keeping any sort of solid relationships due to his poor interpersonal skills.

Similar to Pavia, he exists outside of conventional society - but unlike Pavia, Forget Me Not has taught himself how to imitate others and mask as a sound, hinged and regular individual. He can charm his way in and out of any conversation, change the tide to his favour and play any role necessary for his goals - but it's all play pretend in the end, because he wholeheartedly believes that none of it is meant to last. Every relationship and connection he makes is done with one purpose in mind: to further his goals.

When someone approaches Forget Me Not intending to seduce or romance him, he plays the role of a perfect gentleman. Or whatever is convenient at the moment, really. His keen eye allows him to quickly discern little details, until he fully figures out your type just so he can adapt accordingly. This is a fantasy that wears off overtime - once you overstay your welcome and outlive your usefulness.

And because Forget Me Not is too much of a coward to risk his reputation and hard work by being the one to break your heart, he manipulates the situation to come out of this relationship scot-free. If you can't find any reason to leave him on your own, don't worry, he'll make sure there's something.

But when it comes to him being interested in someone and navigating a romantic relationship...

When Forget Me Not falls for someone, he falls hard and fast.

I want to insist on the lack of interpersonal skills - Forget Me Not has gone years denying himself of something as simple as a friend, someone to confide in. His whole existence revolves around revenge. To him, there's no space for romance in his life, he has no time for something so "juvenile". He can't fathom the idea of being attracted to anyone. The muscle in his rib cage isn't capable of love, it's just there to keep him alive until the world is rid of humans.

And yet, as blind and oblivious as he may be to his own feelings, Forget Me Not falls hard and fast entirely because of how desperate for connection he is. Attraction is something that paralyzes him and affection is a parasite that worms its way into his heart.

When Forget Me Not falls for someone, he becomes impulsive and reckless, not a lot but just enough to be noticeable by those who see him regularly - there is this slightly intense and unhinged feeling to his words, as opposed to the suave and smooth talk he casually dishes out, like he's itching to unravel and show his true nature right there and then. It's something that you still pick up on, long after that conversation has ended, something that you must've heard incorrectly because it's a little out of character, coming from him.

This is because he has no fucking idea on how to deal with it, because he doesn't even know something is happening to him.

No matter what he does during this state, he finds a way to justify all of his actions because denial is his first and foremost coping mechanism. If he finds himself staring at you from across the room, it's because he's making sure you're behaving. To ensure you're not a spy or cause any trouble to other patrons! If he remembers your favorite drink, it's because he needs to get enough points to be on your good side. After all, you probably have a lot of information he could use. If his hand lingers on yours, it's because he was distracted. Etc, etc.

If it goes on for long enough without any sort of confrontation, it'll start to eat him from the inside. Forget Me Not will think that you're using some arcane skill on him to make him act this way before he acknowledges he has a crush on you. Suddenly, there's a whole new thing occupying his brain - whenever he's not dissociating at home, he's thinking about you and that's dangerous.

Surprises are the way to his heart.

It's very hard to catch his eye, since he doesn't care for appearance nor status - he just doesn't care, period. Again, love isn't an option for someone like him. But the one thing that will absolutely rock his world is being caught off-guard.

Forget Me Not is a great actor, he plays his roles in conversations perfectly, he studies the way people talk to each other, the way one must gesture and move, the appropriate amount of eye contact one should make. He micromanages every single aspect of conversations because diplomacy is his forte, it's something he needs to excel at. Long story short, he knows how each and every conversation should go for him to get his way.

Which is why hearing someone laugh when they shouldn't, a genuine snicker or a chuckle, is enough to give him pause. He's intrigued and lost, because people aren't supposed to behave like that. Not the type of people he's used to, anyway. Condescending laughter is to be expected, everyone is pretending to have fun, but a real laugh? Without any hidden meanings or implications? The audacity to go off-script, regardless of how that might affect you? That's what will inevitably put you right in his sights.

These surprises must start out small, however. Forget Me Not is a very jaded and vindictive person with a very fragile ego and stubborn mind - someone who openly goes against everything he stands for, regardless of whether they're right or not, will end up on his black list. As seen with his reaction to Druvis III choosing to move on from her grief, Forget Me Not doesn't do well with his beliefs being torn to shreds so suddenly.

This mentality about everyone being inherently rotten and bound by so many unspoken rules of conduct and whatnot needs to be challenged little by little. Because at the end of the day, Forget Me Not projects his own baggage onto the world, and he must ease himself into the idea that people (and himself) can have actual depth and be more than just a means to an end.

And sure, he has an obsessive personality - some of his behaviour stems from the need to figure out "the catch", like he's constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop when it comes to you, just so he can go "I knew it!" at the end. Forget Me Not, under all that aloof and detached confidence, is nothing but a wounded animal. Gaining his trust or approval is harder than it is losing it.

On the subject of falling for anyone who isn't a pure blooded arcanist.

There is the possibility that Forget Me Not may fall for a human or mixed - two groups that he, alongside Manus Vindictae, holds with extreme contempt and hatred. Right away, it goes against everything he stands for and, as stated before, he doesn't do well with his beliefs being challenged so abruptly.

Whereas Manus Vindictae is an organization that has no problem being so openly hypocritical in their practices (loathing humans, yet offering them salvation just so that they can be used as pawns), Forget Me Not is an individual who lives mostly within his own head, in a constant state of denial and delusion. The idea of falling in love is already ridiculous to him, I literally just spent so many paragraphs talking about how he needs to ease into the idea of forming any sort of meaningful connection, even if it's something he does yearn for and something that he does so horribly. So imagine the absolute fucking whiplash of falling in love with the representation of everything he despises.

Forget Me Not navigating relationships is already difficult enough, but him trying to navigate a relationship with a human or mixed - especially one that is vocal about his affiliation with Manus and his own opinions - is even harder.

But not necessarily impossible.

However, it would lean towards a godawful and unhealthy dynamic, in which he'll begin to blur the lines between affection and aggression. Think of an ourobos, a permanent loop of Forget Me Not being unable to let go while also pushing you away.

He scrambles to find any "rational" excuse to justify his attraction for you. If you're docile and compliant, he'll insist that you're "different" and "not like other humans" just to remain righteous and true to his beliefs by separating you from your roots. And if you're not afraid to call him out and argue with him, he'll feel validated in his beliefs and latch onto you like a parasite because "you need to be reminded of your place". It's unrealistic to think that Forget Me Not can change his mind and become a better person right away, he would need years to heal from his own baggage and biases, then even more time to undo all the things he's absorbed from Manus Vindictae.

But I know these types of dark relationships aren't everyone's cup of tea, so I won't go into detail about it! Other interpretations in which he manages to get rid of all the toxic sludge that is his emotional baggage and questionable morals are just as valid!

The way Forget Me Not acts when he's in an actual relationship.

Every relationship Forget Me Not has had so far has been for the sake of The Walden and/or Manus Vindictae, and he's always made sure to keep them at arms length anyway - so this would be the very first "proper" and official relationship.

And it's a mess. He reeks of insecurity.

Taking into account everything I've said just far, Forget Me Not could easily put all of that knowledge and masking into treating his partner like the gentleman he pretends to be daily. He could just do that! But it stops coming naturally to him the second he's in your presence. Because the thing that attracted him to you in the first place is all those details that set you apart from his "norm", Forget Me Not is stuck in this area of not knowing whether you'd prefer the person he pretends to be or something else, something he might not be able to provide. Note how it's "something else" and not just himself.

The idea of Forget Me Not as a person falls apart when inspected closely, and so he's left insecure and vulnerable. He latches onto you easily, in private and in public, shifting his focus to revolve around you instead - the brand, new and shiny light in his life - but lacks confidence when it comes to keeping you by his side without any sort of manipulation.

He tries, God, he tries so hard. But I can absolutely see him pull all sorts of moves on impulse. From really childish and petty things (insisting on being the only one to serve you drinks, subtly influencing the seats, so that you always sit somewhere he can see or without any of the other patrons bothering you) to genuinely insidious things (lying both to your face and behind your back to drive the people he considers "undeserving of your attention" away, keep you in the dark about certain topics).

It's a lot of back and forth, establishing boundaries and showing him the lines that shouldn't be crossed so that all these actions don't become the norm. To be in a relationship with him, you'll need a lot of patience to guide him or the backbone to set your foot down when needed. I'd say at this point, he'd definitely respond better to being challenged - you're his partner, after all, he holds you way above everyone else in the room, way above himself as well.

But once he's fully eased into the relationship? When he now knows you like the back of his hand? And you've shown that you're willing to stay, even with all of his faults? He becomes so very clingy, but also much more tired in your eyes.

Forget Me Not's antics - his possessiveness, slightly obsessive behaviour, etc - are replaced instead by this lingering feeling of sadness. Instead of kissing your hand in public to make a statement for the world, he holds your hand in private as if his life depended on it, because he now fully believes the relationship to be too good to last. It's like he's preparing to say goodbye before fully enjoying the present with you. Like you leaving him is not a possibility but the end of the road. Coincidentally, it's this "doomer" mentality what pushes Forget Me Not to be more confident when it comes to being vulnerable around you.

I like to think that Forget Me Not is extremely eloquent when needed, but he's physically incapable of talking about his trauma or any other unpleasant experiences in his life - it's directly a result of all this constant repression. So he wouldn't tell you about it, but he would still hope that you can understand him without the need for words. I just see him as a physical person once comfortable!

I know it's far-fetched from canon Gojo, but walk with me for a bit...

Serial-dater!Gojo...

Imagine an AU where Satoru Gojo is so good at going on dates. No awkward first-date moments... Just him making his partners feel comfortable and giddy in his presence.

He's in like three dating apps.

The fact that he's super attractive definitely plays a huge part, but it's also the humor and the charm that pulls people in. Plus, he dresses really well.

Every first date with him feels like a scene that's straight out of a romance movie.

9 times out of 10, they fall in love with him on the first date. Why wouldn't they? He's gorgeous, tall, obviously wealthy, fashionable, smells really good, attentive, suave, gentlemanly, charming, funny, and just the right amount of quirky.

Has his date finally landed Mr. Perfect? Like, the greatest catch ever?

Probably... If he wasn't so damn flighty.

He treats all of his dates really really well, so his dates fall in love with him easily. But that doesn't mean he reciprocates their feelings and/or instantaneous attachment.

Is it a game to him? Well, actually no.

Serial-dater!Gojo is just the pickiest mf to ever exist.

On that note... Sex on the 1st date? Not for him...

If there's enough chemistry and/or sexual tension between him and his date, then he'd probably hit the bedroom after 2nd or 3rd date.

The reason he goes on so many dates is because he's just trying to meet as many people as possible, and if he clicks with the right one, then that's the one!

He's had people that make it to the third date, but then something always goes wrong, or he notices a red flag, and it's immediately off.

I would like to reiterate that he's polite and gentle through and through. It doesn't change the fact that his date is disappointed though.

He also stays in touch with most of his dates... Not all of them obviously. He keeps in touch with the really nice ones -- the ones he found to be good people, but he just doesn't have romantic chemistry with them.

As a consequence, he has loads of connections. It goes without saying, Serial-dater!Gojo is unironically very very very good at forming a network. (The pretty-people privilege helps. People who tell him 'no' are very rare).

The reason why he's very good at dates is because he customizes everything to his date's liking. From venue to activity and topics for conversation, he has it covered.

He knows how to turn up the rizz and he's generous with compliments.

I don't know what to tell ya... The man is a great conversationalist. He can fill silences and make his dates laugh. When they're comfortable enough, he asks them questions and keeps the convo going.

Serial-dater!Gojo is great at feigning interest. Even if he's on a date with the most boring person ever, he's quite adept at hiding how bored he actually is.

None of his dates have actually gotten far enough to know Gojo's actual personality.

That is, until he met the person who would be his S/O for life.

They just click. It's hard to explain, but they just do. It took more than 3 dates, but they got past the occasional meet-ups and started seeing each other much more regularly.

At that point, his S/O has successfully turned Serial-dater!Gojo to Boyfriend!Gojo.

Dating Boyfriend!Gojo obviously comes with more than a handful of perks... A peek into Satoru Gojo's actual personality, a great time in the sheets, goofy antics, all the candy, and many many more.

Just don't ask him how many dates he's been on. The number will make anyone dizzy. Plus, I don't think he's even kept track.

Serial-dater!Gojo's notorious series of dates was just one big quest to find the right partner for life.

Side note: I mentioned in the beginning that this is an AU idea, because I'mma be honest, canon Gojo WOULD NEVER. Man's way too busy being the Gojo clan head, being a teacher, and being a special-grade sorcerer to be a serial dater.

Even as a teenager... Satoru is way too obnoxious and loud and so in-your-face about things. Before the Star Plasma Vessel incident, 16-year-old Satoru knows how much power, influence, and wealth he has, and he's probably not shy about flaunting that in people's faces. Teen!Satoru is bratty... Spoiled, arrogant, and likely unbearable. Small wonder Utahime found him to be super annoying.

Gojo in S1, episode 6, during a conversation with Ijichi, even acknowledges that he has a deeply flawed personality.

Could Teen!Satoru go on dates?

Yes, obviously... He's easy on the eyes, and if his date can ignore his abrasive personality, then it's all good.

Now do I think 28-year-old Gojo goes on dates occasionally?

Yeah, sure... But it's super spaced out. And on that note, I don't think he sleeps around regularly either.

Do I think he does one night stands or has casual sex from time to time?

Yep... But just like dating, it's super spaced out. It's neither a weekly nor a regular thing. He's not THAT horny.

I could write a whole ass whitepaper about my speculations around Gojo's almost non-existent dating life in canon, and most of the problems there stem from childhood upbringing, and his never-fading attachment to Suguru -- especially after the Star Plasma Vessel incident.

And now as I finish typing all of this out, I realized too late that everything I just wrote about Serial-dater!Gojo is actually canonically more applicable to Suguru Geto.

Gege did mention that Suguru attracts more people than Satoru.

In hindsight, are any of us surprised that Suguru has managed to establish a cult?

Geto has that cult-leader rizz... He's charming when he wants to be.

Basically take everything I just said about Serial-dater!Gojo and apply it to Suguru Geto, and it fits so well.

Should I have just rebranded this? Yes...

But I'm too damn tired to rework... Not that it matters. 😆 'Tis nothing but a silly AU scenario.

Okay I don't know if it's because of my current love for a "mysterious, withdrawn person x mysterious, withdrawn person who is just slightly a little more outgoing" relationship dynamic or if it's because of my love for friends-to-lovers trope, but I can see Stone x Sarabi being a thing. I know I've only talked their relationship a little bit, how they've bonded over everyone around them being so much more outgoing, but I can see them being drawn towards each other romantically.

I can see them finding solace in their similarities (I know opposites attract is a thing, but you can't tell me some couples are just really similar in personalities) and I can see them falling in love with the small little differences that sets them apart.

They'd both bring out the softer sides of each other but I feel like Sarabi would bring out a softer side of Stone in a way Kali or Heartthrob could never bring out in Stone (or Grim Reaper!Stone, in Heartthrob's case). Like with Sarabi, Stone's more innocent, for a lack of a better term. He'd be so affectionate and want so many cuddles, would giggle at Sarabi's jokes.

(I'm a firm believer that Stone giggles and gets really soft and almost childlike when he really feels super safe with someone.)

And Stone brings out the side of Sarabi that's the hopeless romantic, the one who sees flowers and sees how vibrant the colors are. The side that Sarabi only touches upon for his poetry. Fun fact, Sarabi actually used to bird-watch when he was a kid, and I feel like Stone got him into bird-watching again.

Imagine them settling down somewhere after they've retired, getting Stone his six cats (yes, Sarabi also likes cats so he would definitely let Stone get six). Sarabi grows a little fruits and vegetables garden somewhere where no one can easily get into so Stone knows the fruits and vegetables weren't poisoned or anything. Stone regularly helps Sarabi keep his facial burn scars nice and protected when they're outside, putting sunscreen on the scars.

Speaking of Sarabi and his burn scars, I feel like Stone is the only one who gets to touches them. He's so gentle with touching Sarabi's right side of his face, cradling the cheek so gently as to not give Sarabi any phantom pains. And Sarabi who usually flinches when someone even brushes against his right side just leans into the touch, tilting his head to the side so his entire scarred cheek in Stone's palm.

The moral of the story is that to me, Stone x Sarabi is a great couple and I feel like making an AU where they're married and enjoying being husbands.

Hi welcome to random things that I think the Reverie characters do, including their listeners but I'm really tired and can't remember all the pet names given.

(and this time I'm gonna proofread it. <- that's a lie)

LES GO

Jacob - he's already a goofy dude with his whole red flag business. But aside from that, he doesn't like those mint things that Olive Garden gives you. (Totally not self projecting) and instead chooses to toss them to other tables without alerting the patrons eating at that table.

Jacob's listener - they don't like the color blue gray that mold is. You know that color? Yeah they have a violent reaction when they see it. I'm talking about swearing like a sailor, throwing a shoe at whatever had that color, ect. Their assistant wore a color similar and they locked him out of their lab until he changed. They want funding to develop a super weapon against the color.

Dion - he constantly puts the box of cereal on top of the fridge. No one knows why he does this, he just does and he refuses to explain. It's very frustrating.

Bodyguard - he doesn't finish movies. He will watch almost all the way through but at the last ten minutes he exits out of the movie claiming boredom. Also infuriating.

Bunny - they leave mugs and cups out. Once they're done, they will just set it down. Sometimes they use it again the next day depending on the previous contents. They always claim that they'll use it again, but more often then not they complain they can't find it before grabbing something fresh. Dion is constantly and rightfully complaining whenever they blame him for the cabinet where they keep the cups and mugs being empty.

Gage - he always buys gag gifts. He also buys genuine gifts but he won't give it to you until a week and a half after your birthday or whatever. He waits so you think his genuine gift is the joke one.

Bug - they can't match their socks for the life of them. Like every time they get a new pack of socks, they somehow always wear mismatched ones. They don't know how it happens but they say opposites attract. It's making people think they do it on purpose. They don't, that's just copium.

Neo - Neo can get competitive. Like reeeaally competitive. This foxy boy will quite literally nearly cause himself injury to "win". He has to open the door first because then he won the race to. (he hides it behind being polite but thats not his main focus) he will eat his food the fastest, nearly choking on it. He will win cuddling even if it's the last thing he ever fucking does.

Darling - they have canine behaviors. Which doesn't seem like a big deal. Until they're sitting in front of a closed door complaining and knocking on it because they're curious. Or when they sprint away full speed with something in their hands (or mouth) that they shouldn't have. Or that they have a specific spot on the couch or bed or table or floor or counter or fridge or blanket or chair that is their spot and no one else can be in that spot. Or when they grab things that smell like people they care about (most often Neo when possible) and just carry the items into common or public areas. Sometimes the person is still attached to the item.

Desmond - he has a bag of bags and a box of boxes. No one knows why since he barely uses them, but everyone is too scared to ask.

Newbie - they obsessively dig holes. And they don't refill them. They've gotten told off a few times for just leaving holes in the work yard but they just can't stop. They also regularly send pictures of the holes to Desmond like "LOOK WHAT I MADE 💪🤩" what he doesnt known is that this was in his front yard 😈

Law - he gets really into princess tea parties. Like, intense. He knows all the drama between the dolls and sometimes he'll try to instigate more drama. These tea parties have extensive lore now. Also he religiously watched great British bake off.

Sweets - They collect pumpkins. And hear me out on this. Every fall they go with Law and his kid to a pumpkin patch. Photos are taken and Law lets his kid get one pumpkin to bring home. Sweets never grew up with that kind of opportunity so one of these trips they decide to try it. And now they have a pumpkin. Suddenly their eyes are opened and it's pumpkin everything! They get several pumpkins each year. They have pumpkin decor they decorate with. Pumpkin (the color... Or pattern) clothing. Pumpkin spice becomes like crack. They really really like pumpkins. Just wait until they find out about the glory of fresh pineapples... Their home will look like a swingers without them realizing it.

Casey - he can't be allowed to go into Michaels. Not because of anything necessarily bad, but he just loses any and all impulse control. He'll go in with the intention of just getting a few things and suddenly he renewed his membership, has three signs, four fake vines, two picture frames, and seven full rolls of ribbon. (He originally went in for tye-dye for a date idea with Honey. He forgot to buy it and now needs to go again. He'll end up buying the materials to make a DIY wreath)

Honey - dating a florist is fun. But they now have flowers everywhere. Some are in pots, some in vases. Some are pressed between the pages of a book. Some tied in colored mesh baggies for sachets (I think that's the word I'm thinking of) and placed in their dresser drawers. It makes their clothes smell of the flower. They sometimes forget to change them out and next thing they know their clothes smell of rotting plant and need to go through the wash. But they're happy to have it, officially handing out the little gifts to even random strangers they meet in the street.

Cyril - he collects action figures. I have an angst hc connected to this, but I want to keep this fluffy for the most part so I'll just leave it at that.

Rival - they get heated if someone peels off that plasticy cling cover wrap thingie. The one that is placed over device screens or something? Yeah they're obsessed with that shit. If you peel it off before they can they will give you the silent treatment until they get the chance to peel it off something again.

Roman - Dissects pinecones. This dude will find the pine cones that are opened up and will meticulously start to pick the shards (?) Out and try to create towers with them. He'll never admit it but he's traveled back in time to find the same pine cone and repeat the process if he messes it up.

Pip (I think that's what the listener is called?) - they throw cotton balls at people they don't like or people they want to get the attention of. No one knows how they just have a bag or pockets full of cotton balls but they do. And they will throw one at your head with the force of a thousand spartan warriors.

Ellis - They really really like black out poems. (Those ones where you color over a sheet of text to only show certain words and create a poem out of it) which can be a problem considering where they work. The urge to just grab a book and start making a black out poem is so strong. They need to keep their hands busy for fear of giving into the urge.

Ellis' listener - they try to catch the dust that you can see floating through sun rays. The ones where if you stare long enough it's like you're hurtling through space and the dust is the stars. Anyways, they like to catch that shit and present it to Ellis. Ellis humors them and "thanks for catching the stars for me"

(and the tag because I'm slowly getting less scared of being perceived but mostly because Altair is so fucking nice omg and therefore it makes it a bit less scary. @reverieaudios )

ranking the dateable characters + my opinions + characters I wish were romanceable

Hi, keep in mind this is all just my opinions and you don't have to agree with it! I thought this might be fun to write. There are some spoilers ahead. Sorry for my bad English - it's not my first language. Feel free to write what you think in the comments. Very long post under the cut.

28. Ben. Don't get me wrong, he's great, and the only reason he's last is because I'm ranking them based on how much I would want to date them. He's a great friend and a cool guy. I just think he's not attractive to me, and I don't think he would like living at my farm, being vegan and all. Like, I think he enjoys his current lifestyle and doesn't want to change it. He's cool, though :) I like his story arc.

27. Mark. Now, I know he's the most popular bachelor but I just dislike him. He's mean to you from the start, used to be a bully (claims he's changed, but when you join b.o.s. he's just the same to you), and doesn't really change his demeanor to you. I get the appeal of the "mean to everyone but you"/"bad boy"/"tough on the outside, sweet on the outside" but it's just not for me. Yeah it's sweet how he likes animals but it's not enough for me. Besides, he's supposed to be a monster hunter, yet claims he doesn't go into the caverns?? Then what does he do?? He claims to be tough but when it comes down to it, the player character is stronger and actually fights monsters regularly. And is a nice person while doing so...

26. Scott. That's a character that is really cool in theory. A guy passionate about artifacts, who works with you on the museum? Super cool. But I just don't like him. He flirts with a lot of characters, which isn't something I look for in a partner, he's irresponsible, I just don't like that. Besides, he claims that he sometimes donates to the museum. What do you donate, huh Scott? Last time I checked, all the things at the museum are from me. He spends one day a week at the cavern, yet never brings anything back. Probably because he only goes to levels 1 and 2. Seriously? Look I'm not a hater but come on.

25. Semeru. Now I don't know a lot about the guy, so he might move up. But so far, he seems similar to Mark - rude and beloved by the fans. Except at least he has a valid reason to distrust the player character. He doesn't have to be an douche about it though... He might get better with time though, and in that case I think he might move several spots. But so far, I really don't like him.

24. Pablo. Again, not a fan of guys who flirt with basically everyone. I like him more than Scott, because at least he doesn't take credit for my hard work. And he's really nice to talk to. He'd be higher on the list if it wasn't for something that can be revealed through rare dialogue. I won't spoil what it is, but it made me dislike him quite a bit. 23. Luke. He's kind of arrogant. He looks down on the player, because he's rich, or at least that's the vibe I got from him. It's neat that he wants to be successful outside of his parents' achievements, and that he has a dog, but that's not enough. I especially don't like how in one cutscene, he basically tells you to clean up his shop because his dad is coming, and not that I have a problem with him asking me for help, but the way he does that. Yeahh, nope. He has a cute dog, though.

22. Yuri. Again, I know she's popular. And I have nothing against her, really. She's really cool, just I don't find anything about her interesting enough to want to date her. Besides, she has a dialogue when she says she doesn't want commitment, and I don't want to make her do something she doesn't want to, you know? Same as with Ben, better as a friend. Her story made me tear up a little

21. Chaem. Again, she's mean. Though I don't see it as the same like Mark and Semeru, she seems more blunt and honest, and doesn't insult you or anything. Like, I don't think her intention is to be mean, she's just honest about when she doesn't want to talk. She's also a bit arrogant but honestly I don't mind that. Still, she's not a character I want to date that much.

20. Zarah. She's ok. I like how she's adventurous. I don't like how she's kinda rude in one of her events, though, even if she does apologise. Besides, she's allergic to cats and doesn't like them. I really like cats. I don't think that would work out well. She's cool, though. Not much I have to say about her, really.

19. Theo. Honestly, I'm just neutral about him. He's ok. I respect him for being so good at fishing, it's really hard, and playing music is always really cool. I haven't finished his story arc, but it's really sad so far. I like how friendly and positive he is.

18. Kenny. He's just Ken(ny). In all seriousness, he's ok. I like how he's sweet and says really wise things. I originally liked him more, but I like other characters more. I don't think he'd be happy on the farm, being vegan and my character making huge money from eggs and milk. I might do a save when I make a character named Barbie and romance him.

17. Leah. She's mean. Honestly, she's only this high because she reminds me if Haley from Stardew Valley. But unlike Haley, she doesn't have as clear of a redemption arc. I still think she's ok, even pretty good. I like her style, all her outfits are really nice, which is something not all characters can say. Her story is good

16. Raj. Now we're getting to characters that I might romance. I think I will make 28 saves, but these are characters I have more of a positive opinion on. So, Raj is really cool. I like their coffee shop, and their style. I enjoy conversations with them, it's clear they are very passionate about their job which is always good to see! Also, I really appreciate that they're a non-binary character, I don't often see non binary characters in games, especially as romance options. That doesn't influence my opinion on Raj, but I wanted to mention that.

15. Noah. He's a really sweet guy. I really really like him. He's caring, gentle, kind, I can tell he's very good at taking care of others. I like some other characters better, but Noah is great as well. Not much I have to say about him, to be honest.

14. Charles. Unpopular opinion but he's great. I have no idea why so many people hate on him. Sure, he might not be very attractive (though that's subjective. I think he's pretty good looking, compared to some other characters), but he's sweet and friendly. He cares about people, I just like him.

13. Aaliyah. Also very underrated. I see people don't really talk about her, and sometimes outright say she's bland, but I think she's great. I noticed she compliments the player a lot, which is sweet. She's also hardworking and ambitious, which are some great traits to have. I like that about her. So, you can't really say she has no personality. While it is kind of obvious she was added later on, she's still great.

12. Wakuu. Now we get to my favourites (yeah I have 12 favourites. Don't blame me, there are just so many awesome characters!). Wakuu is popular but this time I can agree with the general opinion. I like his story and I think it's great how smart he is. He's just really sweet when you get to know him. I honestly don't have much to say, because for the most of me playing he couldn't speak to me, and now that he can I rarely see him, but when I do, it's great.

11. Rafael. Again, the general opinion is something I agree with here. Rafael is a huge sweetheart and I adore him. He's just so sweet and kind to his friends. I feel really bad for him for always being in his brother's shadow - seriously, the way their parents are is messed up :( Like they misspelled his name (how do you even do that?! wtf), they forgot his birthday and then sent Pablo's favourite gift, joked that he's adopted... At least us fans can appreciate him. Also I just wanted to say it's super cute how he's a great uncle to Valentina (and dare I say, raises her more than Antonio - I never see him with her but I often see her with Rafael).

10. Suki. She's so amazing and I love her personality. She'd be much higher if it wasn't for her heart events - the player is barely involved in them, plus there's Antonio's events that can trigger when she's with you that I won't spoil, but it's weird in that case. Yeah... I still think she's great - she's a very confident and strong, yet kind person.

9. Surya. My favourite guy in the game. I think he's adorable, how he's so passionate about science and the environment. Especially since it's something that the player also likes. I think he's an amazing partner.

8. Millie. I love books, just like her, so that's one thing. And I think she's incredibly sweet and smart. And I love her nicknames! They're so sweet and funny.

7. Macy. She was hard to rank - before I actually started playing, I thought she was the one I'd like the most. However, I find her storyline a bit lacking in substance, and 90% of what she talks about is the sunlight. I get it, but I want to know more about her. She's really cute, though.

6. Nina. She's a character we meet a bit later, and at first I didn't like her that much, but she's grown on me. She's a great character and I really like her. Kind of similar to Luke but doesn't look down on anyone.

5. Princess Miranjani. I can't wait for the update when I can find out more about her and romance her! She's really great, I love how she stood up in the player's defense and she's just as curious about humans as I am about merfolk. I think romancing her would be really great.

4. Denali. It was veery close there with Miranjani, but I think I like Denali a bit more so far - maybe because Miranjani seems more interested in the fact that you are a human than who you are? I still adore them both, and I really like how Denali stands up for the player to Semeru.

3. Lily. She's amazing. I like when she talks about bonsai - I always thought they were really cool. I think it's so sweet how she's a bit shy and introverted but gets closer to the player.

2. Alice. I romanced her on one of my save files and I have no regrets. She's very sweet and adorable, I also like how she's interested in the supernatural things (I wish I could tell her all about the giants, merfolk and the godess. Well, I wish I could tell that to many characters but especially Alice). I like her story arc. She says many sweet things when dating and married. Though she did say recently "I feel like we're driven apart" for some reason? Even though I give her plenty of gifts. I don't know. Anyone knows what that might be about? I'm not playing on the save rn (I got some more saves planned, I have this challenge where I make characters and focus on one skill, this one being farming), but I'd appreciate if someone told me what I'm doing wrong

Eva. She's literally so sweet and kind and pretty, and she's my favourite love interest in the game. I'm aiming to romance her in one of my current saves. I don't really have one precise reason why she's my favourite. I just think she's great.

Bonus: characters I wish were romanceable (maybe in a future dlc?)

• Karen. Look... I can fix her (or she could make me worse). All I'm saying is this could be a great enemies to lovers arc. Or we could be on her side from the start

• Raina. I just think she deserves a better life than working at Pufferfish. I know she's a good person.

• Derek. I mean, why make such an attractive character if he's not going to be romanceable?

•I think the above 3 could be a part of DLC or a big update where you can join Pufferfish (kinda like Joja route in sdv). Perhaps in between the event where you talk to Mayor Connor and the event at the museum (and the diving event, and the dream) you get approached by Karen who asks you to join them and thrive (sorry) and you have the choice to agree and thus not get any of the museum, giants and merfolk events (instead of the merfolk being romanceable you have these 3 Pufferfish workers being romanceable), maybe you get some benefits but also the game guilt trips you, the town stays polluted and maybe even gets worse, and the townsfolk often complain, and it's made clear that you picked the morally wrong choice and you miss out on some of the game features, but you get some benefits too, but are they really worth it? I just think that currently I don't feel like the player saving the town feels like they are a good person, because there was no choice. If there was a choice, it'd feel more good to pick the good path, you know?

I am late, but not quite? This was written before the fifth day of the challenge, but I felt insecure about this piece so I didn't post it. It's My Hero Academia x UTMV crossover where Ccino works for Dream in a cafe right in front of the greatest hero school in the world, and Dream's twin Night is Ccino's significant other and also a villain Nightmare visits the cafe regularly. Only this time is special — Night is also in love with one of his villain subordinates, Killer, and it's the day Night's two lovers meet each other. Killer — or, rather, Target, specifically when he's around civilians, like Nightmare and Night, — so, Killer is interested in the coffee boy his boss is so fond of, but Ccino... Oh, would you look at that. Ccino finds himself mesmerised to the point when usual shyness leaves him.

Also, for those who are not familiar with MHA, it's a world where almost everyone has a Quirk — a special ability from making your eyes change colour to super strength to, well, those I saw fit for the characters of this piece.

Day 5: Red

Ccino is, by all means, a background character. His Quirk is nothing special — an oddly specific passive ability to measure drinkable liquids exactly like another person wants their beverage to be. That's why he works at a cafe — a normal job, as plain as he is. What's unusual about it is that the said cafe is the nearest to the UTMV — the best hero university in the world. Their guests are both teachers — real Pro Heroes — and stidents, the future of their world. It's such an honor to serve them, and Ccino is forever grateful to Dream for hiring him straight after graduation. The place has become his second home.

Ccino's first home has always been by Night's side. They grew up in the same orphanage — Dream, his brother Night, and Ccino, a couple of years younger than the twins. And if Dream was a star — no, the sun — everyone loved and praised him and his Positive Aura, a perfect Quirk for heroics, — then Night with his Negative Aura was an eclipse, leaving everyone uneasy and volatile. And then there was Ccino, suffering from depression in his young age and being blamed and gaslighted by everyone. He barely felt the effect of the Positive Aura and found sanctuary and validation in the Negative Aura. Then, when they were all teenagers, Ccino realised he's long since fallen in love with Night. And there was no way he'd stay quiet.

So he confessed. He still remembers how soft Night's features and voice got in response. Ccino was blessed to see a rare genuine smile, too. Night warned Ccino their relationship won't be easy, hinted at his plans after he leaves the orphanage, but Ccino wasn't afraid.

That was before.

Now, he's washing the tables after a busy day. When the bells chime, he smiles widely and turns around, expecting to see Night — for the first time not alone but with someone special.

They talked about it a lot during the last month. When Night admitted he also loves another person, Ccino was ready to let him go. Only it wasn't what Night wanted — he loves them both and doesn't want to lose either of them. Could Ccino do this? Share his beloved with someone else? Of course he could, the answer was. He already did. Night used every opportunity to see Ccino, but still was a busy monster. Nightmare, the most nefarious Villain in the world, and his group of misfits.

And today Ccino is meeting one of his subordinates, the one who cought not only attention but also affection of the King of Negativity. Must be someone truly special.

Not that Ccino is special himself. He's just lucky he and Night are childhood sweethearts who never grew apart...

Ccino takes a step forward to hug Night and greet his another love. Only words fail him — he lowers his gaze to the brightest part of the two, a red heart-shaped soul, glowing and swirling gently. He can't look away.

Night chuckles fondly, "Enthralling, isn't he?"

Of course he notices where Ccino's gaze is attracted.

Ccino blushes and tries to pull himself together, barely managing to squeak, "Anything to drink?"

"We both know you already know," Night teases.

"Yeah, right... I'll just, uh, go. Give me a minute."

。。。

Ccino might just have a problem. That problem is not two Villains in elegant costumes sitting near the window of the cafe, chatting — although it looks like Killer talks and Night listens. Also, yeah, he knows who Killer is, even with his soul stable and heart-shaped. He watches the news from time to time. There are lots of soul conditions and mutations in the world of Quirks, so no one pays much attention if any at all. And so Killer is unrecognisable to the public. Just get civilian clothes and control determination and hate leaking from his sockets.

Anyway. The problem is that Ccino can't tear his eye-lights away from Killer's soul. He can't help it, weak before its beauty and captivation. He's just like that with Night, and Night knows it.

Ccino really, really wants to touch Killer's red and white soul. For moment, it's all he sees — and he knows Night knows, the empath that he is.

Ccino is sure to make a fool of himself at least once.

"Here's your coffee, and your tea. I hope you like it." Ccino says awkwardly but serving the cups masterfully.

Then he sits down in front of Night and Killer. And it's so... they're both so...

It's rude to stare, but Ccino's already gone. He's warm all over, and his hands itch to touch, to caress.

Killer gives him a charming smile. Night watches them fondly and finally says, "Ccino, this is Killer. Please call him Target whenever he's in civilian clothes. Killer, this is Ccino."

"Would you look at that, the legendary coffee boy is right in front of me, and what a sight!" Killer — Target?.. — sips his coffee and grins slyly, "It's actually perfect! How about I give you something in return?"

Flustered, Ccino lowers his gaze, but mumbles, "Could I someday touch your soul?.."

Target's grin widens. "...Well, I did not expect that, but you know what? Sure, do it!"

Just like that?!

But Ccino really, really wants to... The red glow lures him closer, makes him forget all rules and limitations. He side-eyes Night — touching someone's soul is so very intimate, after all. But Night nods in Target's direction and smiles softly. So Ccino, supported by them both, lets himself give in to the magnetic desire to touch.

He does, leaning forward over the table and finally touching the heart-shaped target. It's exhilarating in an absolutely different way from Night, and yet so very pleasant. Red glow grows brighter, warming Ccino's own soul. Does Target trust him that much already?..

The three of them talk a lot, mostly Target and Ccino who need to get to know each other better. Or maybe don't need, exactly, but definitely want to.

Night hugs Ccino and kisses him goodbye, and then Target demands a kiss as well, and looking at them doesn't feel like betrayal or jealousy.

It feels like home.

i've been thinking about this ask for ages, i thought i lost this ask but it was hidden in my drafts.

from the minute he meets his s/o, he's completely fascinated with their devil fruit. he demands multiple explanations of it and always insists on showing their powers off to everyone. he also loves testing the extent of his s/o's powers, always asking them if they're able to shrink or grow to random sizes inspired by objects around him.

"can you grow to the size of this ice cube?"

"yes Kid"

"will you do it?"

"no Kid", queue Kid sulking and giving them the silent treatment until his gf gives in and does it for him.

but despite being rather irritating, Kid's super considerate of his s/o's safety on the ship no matter what size they are. if they're feeling like they want to be small and wonder around the ship, Kid will walk next to them to protect them from getting injured and shouting at anyone who gets too close. if they just feel like being tiny for the day, Kid loves sitting them on his shoulder or on top of his goggles so he can keep them next to him.

the idea of Kid just very carefully lifting his tiny s/o up from the table on his hand to sit on his shoulder is the cutest thing ever i'm sorry.

Kid is also weirdly paranoid that his s/o will forget their real height one day so like a parent, has a measuring wall in his cabin for them. he regularly makes his s/o shrink/grow to whatever height they think is their real height to make sure that they remember it. his only other rule he has is that his s/o isn't allowed to make themselves taller than 9ft tall whilst on the ship incase they accidentally sink the boat or fall into the sea.

as i spoke about in this ask Kid defiantly also has a fragile ego and takes it incredibly personally if his s/o is taller than him. so i can see his s/o exploiting this by frequently making themselves an inch taller than him just to irritate him. Kid will just sulk in a corner until his s/o apologises or shrinks to shorter than him.

however, he will admit that watching a giant version of s/o kick ass in a fight is incredibly attractive and that it turns him on. Kid also finds it incredibly attractive when his s/o picks him up in their giant hands to help him with his attacks in battle, he finds it super useful and a huge ego boost watching his enemies cower in fear at the Kid Pirates' power couple.

I’m trying to envision Halore “social interactions are not my strongpoint” Travye navigating drone season - especially immediately after his breakup with Kurloz - and I cannot for the life of me see how it would happen unless there’s a cultural mechanism or tradition of playing drone season matchmaker for socially awkward, anxious, and depressed trolls - like, “sorry your relationship with Makara didn’t work out, but like, since you’re available . . . you wanna partner with my moirail whose matesprit died last sweep?”

Also also, since it is kind of a variant of the fuck-or-die trope, I can see so many troll dramas incorporating drone season as some major plot point. Although, maybe not with too much angst? Since I guess if a movie made you feel sad or angry enough about the whole situation, it would technically be seditious?

This is true, it's not his proudest season. But as with every other challenge he ends up facing, he stoically puts up with it lol. Present day as of PoF I'd imagine he mostly just kind of gets by in flush with somebody he finds tolerably attractive, and manages pitch by way of being very blunt baseline and then also a snarky bitch.

Right after he broke up with Kurloz he presumably was even less happy about it! But "hot, young, strong troll who's transparently broken up about losing somebody they cared about" seems like pretty good pity bait, so I could imagine that he managed to limp along on that until he started to get his feet back under him and got back his classic "Well Giving Up Isn't An Option So Let's Do The Damn Thing" personality lol.

RE: drone season in media, and seditious presentation of it, I've been going back and forth! I made mention real early on of drones and drone season and have never delivered on it because I've been percolating how I want to approach it sociologically, so here are I guess some drone thoughts.

As brutal and wild a system as it is to be like "there are drones that come and demand that you fuck", I am intrigued by the concept that those are just like, a natural part of the troll life-cycle. That the Mother Grub and her drones and the trolls are just all parts of the same species, who like insects can have wildly differing appearances and biological functions! And that in that way, drone season is actually like, outside the empire's control, and tbh super inconvenient for a powerful space-faring empire, since I'm of the assumption that the drones head out to trolls throughout the galaxy and continue to gather genetic material fairly regularly, showing up whenever they show up and triggering every troll in the area to contribute. Which means that like, sometimes the drones show up and if your soldiers don't have mates, they die? That could be real bad for your military!

Ofc it's possible and in fact almost inevitable for it to be politicized, and I'm sure there's some amount of spin RE: when you fuck you fuck for the empire, etc etc. But also if it's not actually the empire's doing, this is just how trolls work as a species (even on Beforus! a fascinating thought) the options for media rep of drone season get wider, I feel like.

If your characters don't want to contribute because "wahh, but contributing slurry to the meat grinder of the war machine BAD" then it wouldn't be acceptable, but it seems like a pretty reasonable point of drama to be like "oh man if I don't fuck I die, that's pretty upsetting" without having to be overtly seditious, as long as the drones are only sort of imperial in nature!

As with most of my xeno headcanons this is ofc subject to change with every different fic I write lol. But those are the thoughts I've been mulling around, at least as they pertain to the question!
