I love the juxtaposition of posts I make, it’s either absolutely crack shit that doesn’t make sense but does on an insane level or just analysis on the characters and I make myself sad about them

since christmas is approaching, can i request how spending the holidays with our fav boy naruto uzumaki would be like?🥹🍥
Tumblr media
ofc!! this was so cute to write, i love him <3
𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: naruto uzumaki/fem!reader
𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: none. festive nart is extremely wholesome!! // modern AU.
Tumblr media
loves spending the holidays with you and your entire family because he couldn’t do it as a child.
not only do your parents love him and thus get him loads of presents to show the love; even your goddamn grandparents spoil him rotten to the core.
if you have a place of your own, say goodbye to a neat christmas tree and stylish decor. this man makes an absolute mess out of your home with all the clashing colours and discoordinated trinkets that he never ceases to order online.
drinks loads of hot chocolate and puts a rather concerning amount of marshmallows in it (i think he’d be a sucker for the pumpkin spice one especially, even if it’s considered a fall drink instead of a winter one.)
matching ugly christmas sweaters are a must (but his lights up because he needs to steal the show, of course.)
gets so drunk with champagne at the holiday party that he becomes besties with your uncle and refuses to leave his side when you tell him it’s time to go home.
adores wearing colourful mittens and knit hats with pom poms on them.
likes taking you on ice skating and sledding dates.
if you go on evening walks, the chances that he’ll start a snowball fight are extremely high.
looks so freaking adorable when his cheeks and the tip of his nose turn bright red because of the cold.
insists on finding a real christmas tree every year instead of a plastic one.
you decorate it together, of course.
he also loves buying funny bulbs for the tree and placing random stuff on top of it (you had a lightning mcqueen topper because of him one year.)
surprisingly loves receiving socks as a present (especially ones with funky designs.)
kisses you a lot to warm you up.
adores taking cringey holiday photos with you every year and sending them to all of his friends via mail.
stares at christmas lights with eyes as big and fascinated as a cat’s.
attempts to bake cookies and brownies with you, but gives up halfway in and just sticks to licking the batter off the spoon when you scold him because of the chaos he’s causing in the kitchen.
loves cuddling with you and watching cheesy christmas movies whilst eating said cookies and brownies.
you watch the hallmark ones when you’re both tipsy. you laugh so hard that your bellies start to hurt.
opens presents with the excitement of a little kid, no matter how old he gets.
lives for the homey atmosphere christmas brings to your place.
doesn’t attend midnight mass unless your family goes.
if he does end up going to mass, he’s bumping into your side; poking and prodding you the entire time because he quickly grows bored.
sometimes gets this stare of subtle longing when he sees parents taking their kids into toy stores and having fun.
wakes up bright and early despite that he has the chance to sleep in.
can’t stand ‘all i want for christmas is you’.
builds wonky snowmen with you, and then gets sad when they start to melt.
wraps all your presents in minion wrapping paper because he thinks it’s funny.
is surprisingly a good gift giver.
has frequent sugar rushes that tire you the fuck out as you try to tame them.
prefers warm/colourful christmas lights over the cold-tone ones.
insists on assembling gingerbread houses with you, and then pouts when his looks worse than yours.
loves all the presents he gets, but still loves you the most.

Something About Frieren: A Fulfilling Life?
Here's a thing: I've always felt Frieren shares a similar melancholic feel with Violet Evergarden, but with a unique twist. Both stories unfold slowly, mundane, and seemingly pointless. However, the two also share a core value that I like; A lot of room to breathe and contemplate. It invites us to savor the quiet moments. Frieren and Violet started off oblivious with emotions that normally other people would grieve or regret. They learned to understand something that is no longer (or supposedly no longer, in Violet's case) attainable. Violet Evergarden was a tearjerker for me, whereas Frieren so far is more of a heartwarming journey.
Tumblr media
At a glance, it feels pointless to aim for something that you can never get back. There is no thrill from the rush of desire or a hit of comeback. Alas, this type of story was trying to convey something else; The melancholy of acceptance, a treasured legacy, and attention to even the slightest change. The slow pace pinpointed those things in pieces of with character's current life. Frieren's world is tinged with melancholic beauty, a constant reminder of the ones lost to time, and honors it by cherishing life's moments going forward.
Tumblr media
Now focusing on Frieren story, I really like how each character connected with their surroundings and how the relationship between them emerged. Even the supporting cast in Frieren are not mere bystanders. Each character interaction feels meaningful, adding depth and dimension to the story. They aren't merely a tool for the main character's development but really feel like a part of the main story.
Tumblr media
Now about the main character Frieren.. By herself, she may lack an admirable trait as she appears laid-back and unpassionate, which makes her a seemingly unconventional protagonist. We won't be able to understand her if not for the characters around her. Her strong suit I think was her will to understand and her value of humility. She was mainly driven by logic but didn't completely shut herself from emotional reasons.
I really like the part about her, even as the main character, when she failed to earn the 'first-class mage' title like it was nothing to worry about. Instead, she helped her apprentice, Fern, to be one. It's quite rare to see a main character surpassed by the support character. I can think of some examples like Lightning McQueen and Naruto, each with their own reason. But the message is the same; Everyone has their own role in life and not every path they need to succeed. The student will surpass the teacher, and it was delivered in such a.. lenient, light-hearted way.
Tumblr media
Watching Frieren was almost stress-free, I started to look forward to how she'd handle a normally stressful situation with her lack-of-stress attitude, lmao. It can be frustrating when that happens in a relationship with the people around her, though. And that pros and cons are what make it interesting. Not looking stressed, or heck not looking excited, doesn't mean one didn't care. I can relate to that part of her to some degree, and that's also the reason why I like her.
It's funny to recall back the first time I heard about Frieren, was when a friend watching the episode where Frieren's group first met Lügner I was like yoo what are you watching and YOOO who is that Johan-looking guy 😳😳. He was the reason I watched Frieren... Damn... RIP Lügner 😞💔.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, I still enjoy the story so far and I think anyone seeking a thoughtful and emotionally resonant story will find themselves captivated by Frieren's journey. The key to a fulfilling life.. highlighted in everyday moments.. and to raise a glass for the lingering memories from remnants of those who once walked with us. Cheers, and keep walking forward.
Tumblr media
Oh right, and with a hobby, of course!

@crowshoots: can i ask about the lightning mcqueen to percy pipeline
yes, and i'm so glad that you did. okay so first, we look at percy. an asshole who starts out defining his success by one thing ( revenge ). he get's stuck in a cell while trying to achieve said goal & a a group of soon to be friends frees him. enlightens him. changes him. he inspired to his core to be better & has to unlearn all the things that he used to think would carry him through the rest of his limited lifetime.
on the other hand, we look at lightning mcqueeen. he defines his success by one thing ( winning the piston cup ). he get's stuck in a little town with a bunch of soon to be friends who keep him there & hold him accountable for his actions. they enlighten him, change him. he is inspired to his core to be better & has to unlearn the winning is everything mentality.
both of them start out as people willing to succeed at all costs ( morals, friends, self ) & through a series of events they find people ( or cars ) that inspire them to want to be better. that make life a little more full than this Huge Thing they used to thing would fill their lives, but would have ultimately left it more empty. also they're both assholes.
i have more to say on this subject also but this is like the Base version of my logic. fucking kachow

Chance of Rain - Chapter 9 Sneek Peak
(Only because I still can't even post it til Friday)
Chance of Rain - Chapter 9: "Signal Lost"
The estimated four months of McQueen’s freedom had now dissolved into thirty-six hours of it, even that having been clouded over by the looming situation he’d have no choice but to face when he got to it. He moved slowly, as if in a trance, anxiety welling up in his core at the realization he had no other way out. Nobody could really help him, either; though they tried, they just couldn’t seem to shake the fear in his eyes. And he couldn’t even tell them why - which was becoming a whole other animal in and of itself.
“Are you afraid because Cruz will be here too?” Sally asked, watching Lightning do the least-Lightning thing he’d possibly ever done: cleaning countertops. “I know they’re rivals too, but Cruz has made it clear she’s not afraid of him, and she doesn’t have a problem with him being here.”
“It’s not that.” He said, “I just don’t…know what to do.”
“I’ve seen you nervous about things, but I’ve never seen you this nervous…Did something happen, between-”
“I’m fine, can we please just drop it?” He said - immediately regretting his having snapped. Sally took a step back, recollecting herself.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have pried…” She said. “I’ll get out of your hair, letcha know when he gets here.”
Well…so much for that.
He wasn’t mad at her for trying. He was mad at himself for not being able to tell her what was all over his mind. What he couldn’t quell the fear of, no matter how many times he tried to scrub away the dirt. It didn’t budge.
“But we’re here to help,” she said, turning to the door, “if you’ll have us.”
The front door clicked closed, and Lightning sighed. Maybe it was a fluke, and he wouldn’t actually show. Maybe he was just trapped inside a terrible nightmare, reliving the same mistakes over and over again. Reliving seeing Jackson, not knowing who he was, and getting along so…well. Too well. Too terribly, awfully well, until they realized they were no strangers. Reliving the hotel room, the lights off as his calloused hands crawled under the other’s shirt against warm skin. He wished he could forget how much he had enjoyed that night before he knew. He wished he could stop questioning whether or not Storm had, too, before he’d known. Before they knew.
It was perfect, until they knew.

Your Name: Emma
Characters: Phineas Flynn, Tiana Truitt, Aquata Triton, Anna Sommers, Bruce White, Anastasia Tremaine, Tanya Tiwari, Mirabel Madrigal, Lightning McQueen
Pick one of your characters and talk about their growth (we recommend choosing an older character, but it’s up to you!) What about their story has surprised you? What are you proud of? How have they changed from their original inception to now?
I’m going to talk about Tanya because I am so thrilled with where her growth has gone since I picked her up! She has gone from one of the characters I’ve struggled with the most to quite possibly my favorite. I always hit a muse crisis about 2 months in (I call it the two month slump) and I think I was at that point with Tanya when I did my questionnaire last year because I didn’t talk about her at all! But thanks to some fun plots, some really wonderful relationships (especially thank you to Snow, Gem, Zero, Mim, Su, and Jessie), and I think just me learning the virtue of patience, I’ve really grown fond of her and I’ve written my way into the meat of what I want to do with her.
She’s finally starting to connect with people, and at first when that started happening I was worried I was like chickening out of making her an antagonist but I don’t think that’s really what’s happening. I think she’s still a terror, but I think we’re reaching the payoff phase from all of the struggles that were set up at the beginning of her arc and that is really exciting to me. I think I tend to play a lot of extroverts and outgoing people because it is just easier to form relationships when you have a character who wants to form relationships. But Tanya’s isolation is such a core part of her that I had to find another way to get to those relationships and I’m really proud of how I managed to do that. I have some fun ideas for next year and I’m really excited to get into them <3
Pick another character (or the same character if you only have one) and talk a little about where you WANT them to go. What are your plans for them going into the new year?
Let’s talk about Bruce because he has a lot happening right now that I am going to want to address the fallout of in the new year! He had another shark attack (and this time it was someone he was friends with, and that person now knows who he is), and he’s also struggling in some new ways in his relationship with Snow. And I definitely have some fallout plotted for both of those things, but I also have a lot that I still need to figure out.
One idea I really want to explore with Bruce is the idea that self care and community care are like really intertwined and taking care of urself helps the people around you but also that community support is really important to your own healing and basically that you shouldn’t put pressure on yourself to do it all on your own (this is an idea I also want to explore with Mirabel... idk man I’m just really into this stuff lately I guess). ANYWAY that’s all to say I want to finally do the thing I’ve been saying I want to do for like over a year which is a merm support group as a reference to the support group scene in Finding Nemo.
Pick a thread or a plot that you’re proud of and talk about why you loved it.
Gotta be closing Henry. That was my first time closing a character ever and it was HARD but it was really worth it in the end and I feel really good about how his story ended. There were a lot of moving parts to coordinate and I am so appreciative of everyone who helped me check off each of my goals with him.
I tried to be really intentional about giving Henry the sendoff he deserved without biting off more than I could chew, and for the most part, I think I got there (I do think at times I got a little stressed but overall it was more fun than overwhelming). And I think the experience helped me practice at evaluating my own limits and focusing on what I’m really interested in writing.
I am also really happy that Henry’s story has still had repercussions even after he’s gone (haunting the narrative or whatev). Having Anna write that op-ed was more of a way for me to establish some canon details, but it ended up putting her at odds with a lot of people in a way that is really exciting to me!
In terms of your own writing, identify 1-3 strengths and talk about why you think it’s one of your strengths.
Yeah okay I say this every year but I love cringe and I think I’m good at it! I am proud of my ability to make a character do something that you are screaming at them not to do. Sometimes it is very hard to write but ultimately it is very cathartic, and often it is necessary to create conflict and drive a plot.
I think something I’ve gotten better at is like... crafting narratives? Does that even make sense is that just a fancy way of saying plotting? What I mean is that I think I’ve gotten better at utility, at recognizing okay this character needs to do this thing to set this thing up, and then down the line it will come back in this way. I mean that I think I’ve gotten better at moving my characters around like little chess pieces, and also recognizing the roles that are needed to make a plot happen (like oh you need a sidekick to confide in?? you need an antagonist?? you need a stranger to point something out that you didn’t realize??) and slotting characters in. does that make sense??
I also like to think I am, like everyone else in this group, pretty creative! I think I’m pretty good at brainstorming, throwing out a bunch of different ideas to see what sticks, and it’s such a fun part of the process. And I think I am pretty good at helping people develop their ideas if they’re not sure where to go idk I hope so at least I like the collaborative part of this and I really hope I am doing my part!!!
In terms of your own writing, identify 1-3 areas of improvement.
I’ve mentioned that I think that this has improved, but I really do want to focus on knowing my limits and not overwhelming myself. Sometimes if I don’t have any replies on a character (even if they already have threads) I get freaked out and then I plot like 700 things and then once the replies actually start rolling in I have waaay too much on my plate. Which isn’t to say that I don’t love all the things! If someone comes to me with an idea, I always want to find a way to make it work. But I also want to get better at telling myself hey you don’t need to plot 700 more threads just because on one given day you don’t have replies lol.
I swear I say this every year but I still would like to improve my spatial writing, physical movement, and connecting inner monologue with outer action. I have noticed I have a tendency to go on long tangents at the beginning of writing something (especially a long-form project) but when it’s time to get the plot moving I feel like I’m lost at sea lol. I like the way some authors/writers are able to start off with an action or something physical and connect it to the character’s inner journey in a really seamless way. Does that make sense?
Finally, I want to get better at varying my dialogue based on who’s speaking. I don’t necessarily plan on writing out dialects or accents, but I do think that cadence, speed, pitch, etc can vary based on who you are as a person and I think I tend to default to my own natural voice. For example, Annie slips into a Southern accent when she’s upset, Tiana’s voice gets high when she’s about to cry, Bruce has a tendency to speak in short statements and questions and long silences. I would love to develop more of these and really be more conscious about what my characters sound like, and the idea that you could pick them out just based on a line of dialogue!
Pick one of your plots, or even just a character, and come up with a list of 3-5 “mentor texts” where you can look for inspiration or research, then write a short (2-4 sentences) why you picked those texts. (They don’t have to be books, either!)
Mirabel!!!
1. A League of Their Own (the Hulu Series, but maybe I should also watch the movie): I only watched the first episode of this and I REALLY LIKED IT but for some reason I haven’t gone back to it lol. I recently signed her up for rugby and I’ve really been enjoying doing some threads with her teammates, but I’d love to get into this show for inspo for that. Plus it is, like Mirabel, very queer!
2. One Last Stop (speaking of queer!): Something I love about Casey McQuiston’s novels is that they always have a big chaotic found-family-type queer friend group. In this book, August’s roommates and coworkers draw her into a really beautiful big queer community and I want that for Mirabel too. I want her to have her New Orleans Birthday On The Subway moment :’)
3. The Sex Lives of College Girls (HBO Series): One of the big storylines of this new season is (spoiler alert!!!) one of the main characters, Leighton, recently came out as gay and now she is exploring her sexuality and contending with how comfortable she is with whom she is out to and what people know about her relationships and what she wants dating to look like for her and I think it is all really interesting (and also quirky and funny at the same time, because it’s Mindy Kaling’s writing and of course it is). Similarly, I want Mirabel to explore how she relates to her queer identity and what that means for her personally, in a relationship, and in a community.
4. The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri: I’ve been on a Jhumpa Lahiri kick lately if you couldn’t tell. I love how subtle her writing is; she’s able to explore really complicated emotions and relationships even in the most quiet and gentle of stories. Sometimes her stories can be high drama, but her writing really shines in the low-key moments and it makes me want to write like her. Her books tend to explore difficult family relationships, identity in relation to where you live and where you’re from, and the ups and downs of trying to get better (and how hard that is). I’ve read two of Lahiri’s short story collections and one of her novels, and I’d really like to reread her novel The Namesake. It’s a multigenerational story focused on family and heritage and history and I just think it will help me a lot with inspiration for Madrigal dynamics as well as Mirabel’s relationship to Avalor.
OPTIONAL: Why do you RP?
So as some of you may have seen me mention in the main— I watched a YouTube documentary today that made me cry. It was about who wrote the Disney Channel theme song, and it was very fun and intriguing but the end was a gut punch. It talked about how the filmmaker always imagined himself, as a kid, as a serious filmmaker who would make serious films that would go to festivals and win awards and be seen as “high culture.” But somehow he ended up making YouTube videos about forgotten theme park rides and other culture that was once beloved but somehow disappeared, and he really loves what he does, but part of him feels insecure that what he’s doing isn’t seen as “high art.”
When I was a kid, like many of us I imagine, I always wanted to be a writer. I wanted to write books and go back to my English teachers and show them all they did to make me a star. I wanted to go into bookstores and find my name on the books on the shelf. I went into publishing because I wanted to be in the orbit of those people, and it made me realize just how hard it is to write a freaking book. And I still think it’s something I want to do eventually, and I don’t just want to give up on that dream because it’s difficult, but I want to do it for the right reason— the love of the craft.
RP is purely for the love of the craft. We can’t make money or publish this stuff and find our names on the spines of books because of it. I’m proud of the things I write, but I’m certainly not going to my English teachers and showing them the epic thread I just wrote. I do this because it’s fun and I love to write and I love to be in a community of people who write. And maybe someday I’ll prioritize writing a book, but right now, when the majority of my day is taken up by my 9-5 that is definitely creative at times but can also feel dull at other times, I just feel really lucky that I have a hobby that is a fun release where I can take risks and write what appeals to me and deal with complicated things I have buzzing around my brain and maybe produce something I’m proud of. Even if only a small group of people ever read it. Because it means something to me, and it means something to all of us, and I think that’s enough.
Anyway love you all. Gonna go cry about TV commercial breaks now :’)

Thursday, November 24 — Personality Aesthetic: Make a personality aesthetic for 3 characters or 3 different personality types. These can be anything: Hogwarts houses, Myers-Briggs, star charts, Enneagram, vice/virtue, etc.
I love Co-Star, and last year I did my girls, so here are my boys’ sun signs with some Co-Star quotes!
Lightning McQueen - Leo
Tumblr media
“Why are Leos so lonely?”
“Leos make a lot of friends, but they’re not so good at keeping them or developing them further. The problem is that they're able to form superficial connections with their ample charm, but have a hard time showing the vulnerability that deeper relationships require. While they’re great at communicating with the world, they’re not really that great at communicating their innermost thoughts and feelings. (from Co-Star)
Phineas Flynn - Virgo
Tumblr media
WHO IS VIRGO'S ENEMY?
The first Virgo enemy is themselves. The second is waste—wasted time, wasted materials, wasted space, wasted energy. Virgos are efficiency addicts. [From Co-Star]
Bruce White - Cancer
Tumblr media
WHAT IS THE PERSONALITY OF A CANCER?
A Cancer’s personality is like wading chest deep in a lake of warm water. It feels sparkling and cool while it’s touching the body, but you know that if you were to dive in, it would feel warm.
Cancer’s self-awareness is like the tides. They’re constantly moving in and out of focus. Their personality is layered. They have many moods, some of which are contradictory, but they also have a deep, core self that persists. [from Co-Star]
