   Hello beautiful people! Welcome to my first ever blog post on this account. My name is Jimmara Finnie, and I am currently 23 years young. I attend Kennesaw State University and rank as a senior. I enjoy reading, writing, journaling, traveling, and most importantly shopping! Believe it or not if I were asked about the things I enjoyed nine months ago, the answer would have required more of a thought process. I know nine months sounds very specific, but nine months ago I was very out of tune with myself, and my mental state had begun to be more of negative self- thoughts rather than positive. I realized that I was chasing things in life that weren’t meant for me or beneficial to my personal happiness and when those things got ripped away from me, although it was for the better, at the time it made me unhappy. Also, I always over-consumed myself with other peoples’ problems to the point where I deprived myself of quality self-time that I needed to learn more about myself.

    On August 3rd, 2021, I turned on my iPhone and began recording a video about the mental state that I was in at the time. Recording that video was a mental release outlet that I desperately needed. A lot of people would have just looked for their closest friends to confide in, but with the way my mind works, it just wasn't that easy. A lot of the times the people who are always the most helpful with others, may feel that others may not be able to handle or relate to their release. I recorded the video in an effort to create a video diary documenting my life progress, obstacles, growth, and change. Shortly after recording the first video, I realized that for a fact there are others who may be in the same position as me and are seeking other people they can relate to. So, I uploaded the video onto YouTube, and created a channel that I named “JimmaraFinnie.” The foundation of this channel is authenticity and judgement free. I wanted to create a safe mental space where people can express their ever day challenges, good and bad.

      For almost nine months, prior to recording the video, I had been on a healing self-realization journey. I began the journey with positively isolating myself from others to force my mind to focus on only the things that directly pertained to me and evolving in life. In the process of my isolation, I learned things about myself that I wasn’t aware of prior to focusing on myself. For example, I realized my hobbies, likes and dislikes, strongest talents, and where I wanted to be in life, to name a few. The most interesting aspect of being on a healing journey is that your mentality changes and you become a different person, for the better, inside, and out. After publishing the first video on my channel everyone drowned me in love and support. I soon later discovered that there were way more people around me, even some I already knew, that could relate to me than what I expected. Individuals From different ages groups, ethnicities, and cities where all sending me such encouraging words to always continue making these video because there are people who really need to hear them. I even had one girl that I know tell me that she had never watched a full YouTube video before she came across mine and, in that video, I mentioned everything that she is going through and thinks about. I recorded the video to show my future self how far I’ve come but, little did I know the video would be impacting peoples lives. If I could leave this blog post with anything it would be, “Always follow the actions that are on your heat because the world may be waiting on your talents, so don’t take your talents and voice with you to the grave.
