Lewis Tan x Afro-Latina reader
A/N: I decided to fix the situation about Lewis Tan fics (english is not my first language)
Summary: You didn't think that a walk with your dog could turn into meeting a star
Warnings: just fluff, overdose of cuteness, first time writing on tumblr
Tumblr media
When you booked the vacations to Hungary, you knew that you couldn't leave your precious corgie of six months, Nugget, at home, sure, your parents could take care of her, but you prefered to travel with your precious baby
Fortunely for both of you, the usually cold weather of Budapest turned into a sunny day, which allowed you to take a walk in a park nearby your hotel
"This is nice, right?", you asked your dog while walking, "It's good for us, you know, having a little of sun"
In response, Nugget just barked making you smile
"Thanks for agreeing with me", you smiled, "Maybe you can meet another dogs"
During a few minutes, you continued walking until you found a bench to rest for a little time, while giving Nugget water and a few treats, while also taking sips of water for yourself, but with your little potato nothing is calm, because in a brief moment when you let go of the leash, Nugget took the opportunity to run away from you
"Nugget!" You scream, quickly taking your things, to run after her, "Come here, you little naughty!"
After what it felt like an eternity, you finally spotted Nugget sitting next to a small pug, causing you to sigh of relief
"There you are, baby", you smile kneeling next to the dogs, "And you make a friend, what's your name cutie?"
"Bear!"
At the moment of hearing that, the pug stand on her four legs barking of happinnes, making you smile while standing up with Nugget in you arms, watching a guy no more older than you running in your direction
"Oh my god, baby, you scared me", the guy sighed in relief taking the dog in his arms, "Don't do that again"
Hearing that, you let a small laugh of cuteness, making him to pay attention to you
"Sorry for that", he apologized, "Sometimes Bear gets to energetic, I'm Lewis, by the way"
"Don't worry, is the same with Nugget", you shrugged, "I'm Y/N, and I think I've seen you before, you seem a little familiar"
"Actually I'm an actor, I'm here for work"
In that moment, the engines in your brain started to work, remembering were you'd seen his face
"No way! You're playing Tolya in Shadow and Bone!", you exclaimed with exciment making him laugh, "I love the books!"
"Please tell me Tolya is your favorite character", he basically begged in a joke mode
"Actually is Tamar and Jesper, but Tolya is pretty badass too"
"And you just won my heart with that", Lewis joked making you laugh, "Hey, I'm here with Anna who plays Tamar, do you and Nugget want to come to hang out?"
"I'd love to, but I need to go back to my hotel", you sighed, "I need to see a few things of my business"
"Oh! You're your own boss", Lewis joked again, "What kind of business is?"
"I sell jewelry online, mostly by Instagram"
"Well, I'm happy for you"
"I can say the same for you, and I hope to see you again"
With a last smile, you and Nugget turn around to go back to the hotel, while Lewis did the same but to return to the picnic blanket were Anna was waiting for him laying on the floor.
"What take you so long, little brother?", Anna asked
"Bear made a friend, and the owner and I just talked for a while", Lewis responded, "She was nice"
"You had a 101 Dalmatians moment, like in the movie", Anna joked, "Did you get her number?"
"Unfortunately not, but her name in Y/N"
"Nice name, lets find her on Instagram"
"Wait, are you serious?"
"Of course, I'll tell the girls to help"
"She also said that she is a fan of Shadow and Bone, and Tamar is her favorite character"
"I like her more!"
So, this is my first time writting on Tumblr (i'm already a writter with six fics on wattpad) and lets see how this goes, and I hope all of you liked it
Thanks for reading it!! Love you all 💜

The Jason Todd Anomaly
Chapter 1: A Dumbass Playing Vigilante
Fandom: Jason Todd, Bat Family
Warnings: This involves Gotham so I mean, its a shitshow
Summary: Gotham is in pieces, run in sections by different crime syndicates. Batman is dead and his children are trying to pick up the pieces.  The only one of them who has established himself in this new hierarchy is Jason Todd who has a whole section of Gotham run by Red Hood, feared, respected, and loved.  He is slowly taking the city back when another vigilante comes to play.  Anomaly isn't something new in the realm of pretend heroes but she is something new for Jason.
Notes: Once again I am rising from the dead with another fic about a character who deserves love.  I’m going to be using GIFs of Red Hood/Jason Todd from all over the place so sorry if he looks different every time or hell, maybe I’ll just use my fan cast of him (Lewis Tan), ya we’ll go with him for now
Tumblr media
Gotham had been languishing in the gutter for years.  The Batman had apparently died, or disappeared, either way, he wasn't around anymore and the Robins were just not able to control all the criminals in the city.  It had been carved up, leaving only a few blocks around the police headquarters safe, the area protected by the few just officers, led by Commissioner Gordan, and the Robins.  Dick was trying to lead the four Batman apprentices, but they were all vastly different people.  He was the original, the one who was most like Bruce had been, dead parents and all that, Tim was the optimist, the kindest of them all, Damian was the smart one, all brains and ruthless logic, and Jason was well, Jason.  He had his own section of Gotham, next to the safe zone where you could pay his toll and he would keep you safe, him and the small band on goons he had hired to patrol his area.  It drove the other Robins crazy but they didn't see many options, they had to work with him and his band of mercenaries to keep safe as many people as they could.
So they put up with it.
And so did everyone in Gotham's Central Safe Zone, including one young woman named Y/N.  She put up with it.  Put up with the tolls to go from the Safe Zone to the Hood Compound, put up with hiding as much as she could to visit and help those stuck in the criminals sections of the city, put up with everything.  But that wasn't going to happen anymore.  She was done putting up with everything.   She had been training for a few years now, finding all the teachers she could, studying science and strategy as much as she studied weapons and hand to hand combat, doing everything she could to get ready for what she needed to do.  Now she was prepared.
She had been following Penguin for days now, watching his movements, tracking shipments into and out of his territory.  His territory was right next to the Safe Zone and if she could take him in then they would finally have access to the school and the hotel, offering some accommodations and comfort for the ever increasing population near the police station.  So here she was, waiting in the rafters for Penguin and his loyal attendants to appear, face covered by a halloween mask.  She watched silently as the SUV drove into the warehouse, meeting the waiting tanker truck carrying gas.  The driver stayed in the tanker, not daring to move as the Penguin oversaw his cronies syphoning their share of the gas.  He stood on a box, trying to make his stature seem as towering as he imagined himself to be, rubbing his protruding stomach and giggling as his men worked.  He sure was excited about this tanker.
Y/N waited for her moment, when the guys had gotten the gas and were carrying it towards the SUV, their hands occupied and unable to quickly get their weapons.  She dropped from her hiding spot, landing just behind the goons, unleashing her smoke canisters.  While the smoke hid her figure she kicked back, knocking the Penguin off his box, before moving forward and landing a solid right hook into the nose of the nearest henchman.  She was moving on to the next one when someone else moved past her, taking down one of the other guys.  She frowned and found herself in a headlock from the Penguin himself.  She growled as she threw him over her shoulder, hearing him oomph as he landed hard on his back.
"What the fuck!" she said, voice modulator making her voice come out deep, as she was shoved aside by the other guy.  Red Hood.  He went for Penguin but the slippery bird was being yanked away by his cronies, who now all had their weapons aimed at them.  Y/N didn't have bulletproof clothing so she ran and dove behind a stack of boxes as Red Hood used a grappling hook and ascended to the roof, disappearing.  Y/N heard the SUV squealing as it drove out of the warehouse and she vowed to find Red Hood and demolish him as soon as she could.
-------
Jason threw his helmet onto the couch as he entered his penthouse, dark hair falling over his dark eyes.  He slammed the door, setting the security code and flipping on the cameras.  Who the hell was that random idiot trying to play with the Penguin?  What were they thinking? He grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and drenched his sweating face, shaking his hair out, not caring about the mess he was leaving.  A shower, he needed a shower and to call those other assholes, see if they had been having problems with some dumbass playing vigilante.
In the shower Jason considered his options.  He would call the other Robins, have them meet him somewhere in his territory, give them a free pass for the day.  Even though several criminals were suspicious of who the Robins were it wasn't like they all needed to meet in Red Hood's home base, might as well put a neon sign over his head saying 'Hi I'm Jason Todd and I'm Red Hood'.  No, might as well have them meet him at the diner near the border, no one would really care about 4 'friends' getting together, especially considering they were all 'Bruce Wayne's sons'.  What a crock of shit.  He turned off the water, wrapping a towel around his waist and asking his system to call Dick and the others.
"What is it Jason?" Dick asked, sounding worried.  It made sense, Jason never called, something had to be wrong.
"Let's wait til the others answer," he said, sitting on his couch and grabbing his mask.  The other two Robins picked up, greeting them with equal amounts of annoyance.  Some family, none of them liked each other.
"What do you want?" Damian asked, voice shrill like the snotrag he was.
"Any of you guys have an annoying amateur show up at any of your jobs?" Jason asked, getting right to the point.  There was silence on the other end.
"What the fuck are you on about?" Damian asked.  Jason gritted his teeth, if only Damian was here so he could put a bullet in his head so he could never hear that voice again.
"I went to steal some gas from Penguin tonight..."
"You know we're supposed to be jailing them not..." Tim started to interject.
"Shut the fuck up and let me talk," Jason snapped.  "I was robbing Penguin, but when I arrived someone had already started smoking the place out.  I thought it was one of you idiots until I got into the mix.  It was some rando, ski mask on, decent skills, but they fucked everything up and Penguin and the gas got away."
"Well I've never had someone else show up on missions before," Dick said.  The others agreed.
"Meet tomorrow at the diner on the border of the safe zone, 9AM.  We need to talk about this interloper," Jason said.
"We'll see if I'm we're not busy," Damian said.  Jason pursed his lips and hung up, no reason for goodbyes and pleasantries.  He stood up and brought up security footage of the warehouse, trying to figure out where this girl came from.  It would be well into the early morning before he went to bed still trying to figure out who she was.

Last Line(s) tag
thank you to @almost-a-class-act and @hellofanidea for the tag! sorry I only answered now it slipped my mind.
Um. Ok. So. I haven't been working on any stuff lately because ✨Depression✨ so I clicked on a random word document for this. So. Here's the last few paragraphs from a Winnix fic I left unfinished in 2021, based off the indie film Private Romeo:
It’s funny, Dick thinks. Funny how little they have in common, poor Romeo and he. The fancies of youth have never taken a hold of him before, not the way it has this boy, with his heart on his sleeve, daring the world to break it and make him into something poetry and songs could claim. Moving through the world with his head down and his hands as busy as he could get them, Dick always thought it wiser to keep his heart tucked in and away, protected and only feeling what his head would let it, fueling it with nothing but determination and character, building it all upon the moral compass so carefully handed down to him through the wisdom of the generations. He’d been a good son, staying carefully in his lane, living life according to the words of his parents, understanding their discipline to be an expression of their love and honoring them best he can. He never crashed parties he wasn’t invited too. He never made friends with those who drank their weight in alcohol. He never allowed himself to pine after those he could never have.
Or at least he didn’t, until now.
The moon is forgiving tonight, shining gently through the window of their tiny room to caress the sweet swell of Lewis’ cheek and the proud slope of his nose. His dark brows are drawn together in a frown, the corners of his lips downturned in distress. Dreaming again—of what, Dick isn’t sure. Lewis never tells. But it doesn’t stop the need in him to reach out and touch, soothe away the pain with the pad of his thumb, allowing the rest of his fingers to cradle Lew’s cheek, run themselves through the thick of his steel black hair.
Now that he thinks about it, they’d met very similarly to this, on that little patch of gentle sun that appeared every afternoon on that grassy hill behind their barracks in Fort Benning. Dick remembers it just like it were yesterday, perhaps because he holds on to the memory the way Lew holds on to his flask, taking it out for a sip every now and again, to feel the addictive rolling, crashing wave of warmth course through him until he feels it all in the crown of his head to his toes.
Lew had been dozing, left behind on a rare weekend when the bars and pubs of the nearby town could not hold his attention for long. Asleep, he looked his age, smoothed out and serene and boyish; long, black lashes fanning across his tan cheeks with a sweetness that made Dick want to kiss them until they fluttered open to reveal those large, brown eyes he’d been dutifully trying to keep out of his thoughts. He did nothing of the sort, of course. Instead, he’d shimmied down the slope to hover over this boy he’d only ever seen in passing, but whose image he’d always followed with his eyes, inexplicably drawn, and shaken his shoulder until he’d awoken, staring up at Dick with confusion.
“Hi?” he’d said, groggy. And that was the beginning.
Dick had never thought that his own love might be something poets would sing of. Never thought of it burning or hurting so keenly, drowning him in yearning and want. He always thought his love would be straight forward and simple.
Now, with his eyes slipping shut as he watches the steady rise and fall of Lew’s chest, he realizes that that, too, had been its own kind of foolishness.
And I'll tag whoever wants to do it!

Traqué
Summary - a young woman’s life is thrown into chaos when someone from her past comes back, showing that he will stop at nothing to fulfill his darkest desires.
Warning - slow burn, language, mention of drug use, smut, themes of stalking and other tw things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purdue World Banking was one of the top banks in Los Angeles, used by some of the richest families and business tycoons from around the world. You were rarely phased by the uppity types that in through those doors, often times you plaster on a fake smile, handle all the checks and cash and then send them on their way like normal.
It was a boring job to say the least but it paid well, it also helped that you quickly made friends with two other clerks named Travis and Nikki, both of them made the long hours easier. Both their personalities mixed well, even though you were slightly quieter than than them, you still always had made and teased one another.
A light tap on your shoulder breaks you out of your thoughts, glancing to your right, Nikki wears a playful grin before her eyes flicker to the revolving doors, the tall, build man that’s been haunting your dreams for the last six month coming in. He walks almost with a cocky strut, his long legs carrying him with this air of confidence that you noticed the moment you’ve met him. It was at random that day he came in, you were still training still getting to know the ropes when he came to your window.
Being your first time left alone, you were a little flustered stumbling over the keyboard and Lewis was there, smiling sat sweetly and even cracking a few jokes put you at ease, it did help the fact that he was easy on the eyes too. After that day, he’s always made it a point to come too your line, he was always friendly and patient, sometimes you think he would prolong the conversation, not that you were complaining that much.
You feel your smile growing as he walks closer, pull his sunglasses off his face as his smile widens as well, “Hi there gorgeous.”
Your cheeks grow warm from the compliment and you playfully roll your eyes, continuing typing away on your on you keyboard, “good afternoon, Mr. Tan.”
Lewis smirks, leaning against the counter as he shakes his head. “I thought I said you didn’t have to call me that?”
You spare him a glance before going back to your desktop, you already had his information up on the screen ready to go but you actually liked to banter with him. Once he was done openingly checking you, he passes you a heavy envelope and his ID. He never really brought up what he did for a living and you never made it a point to ask him but you couldn’t stop your mind from wandering form time to time. After finishing up the processing and a few flirty exchanges, you expected him to give you his signature wink before disappearing out the building him but this time he stayed behind, talking to you more since it was relatively slow today.
“So, a new bistro just opened up a few blocks from here,” Lewis says, his fingers toying with the rim of his sunglasses.
You had your chin rested in your palm, taking in his appearance noticing the small tattoos on his hands and you often wonder if he had more. “Mhm, it looks good and the reviews have been hyping it up but its been packed there nonstop; heard you couldn’t even get seating outside!” Shaking your head, you mumble a complaint about LA being too much, earning a chuckle from Lewis before he looks back down, almost like he’s thinking something.
He soon clears his throat after a moment a of comfortable silence falls between the both of you, “well, if you’re free tomorrow night, I was thinking about checking it out and I’d love too have you come with me.” His voice was low now, holding your attention for a moment before you register what he had just asked you. Lewis just asked you on a date to one of the restaurants that you’ve been wanting to visit for the past two weeks now, you have had a crush on this man for a while now but couldn’t bring yourself to say anything, you try but fail to hide your frown and from the way his playful smirk slowly drops makes your heartache.
Realizing your answer without you having to say anything, you both try to apologize rushing it out at the same time to try and bypass the awkwardness of the situation and you couldn’t of felt even more worse.
“I-“
“Hey, it’s fine really I’m big boy, I can handle rejection.” Lewis says, standing tall and wearing that smirk that has your thighs pressing together. You were attracted to him, he was funny and cocky in away that any other man it would off doughy like, but with Lewis you just knew he wasn’t all talk.
So why were you hesitating?
You think back to last weeks session with doctor Moorse and how she’s been pushing you, at your own pace of course, to start to become more open to ‘putting yourself out there’. Besides Nikki and Travis, you didn’t know anyone in this city and you preferred to keep it that way but after some more convincing from doctor Moorse to at least try so that’s what you were going to do.
Quickly, snatch the receipt you had handed too him, confusing him as you write you number down before handing it back, finding the counter more interesting for the moment, missing a wide smile on his face when he sees your number.
“I’ll text you later?” his voice sounded hopeful and you nod, catching a glance of him before he leaves.
*************
You were nervous.
After Lewis had left yesterday, you had been a mess. A date!? You couldn’t even remember the last time you have even gone out on a date, it must of been years. At the thought, you feel your heart sinking to the pit of your stomach.
‘I can’t do this..’
You were already having second thoughts, you didn’t know if you were ready or not to put yourself back out there and you’ve been now sitting on your couch all morning battling all the ‘what ifs’. Your phone vibrated next to your bouncing leg and see it’s from Lewis.
Lewis: I’m excited for tonight! :)
A small smile tugs on your face, you’ve been texting back and forth a little since you gave him your number and it was nice, he was still being sweet and funny, you liked talking to him too but still, you couldn’t shake the voice in the back of your head warning you to not leave the house. Feeling like you were driving yourself crazy, you quickly dial doctor Moorse number, who picks up on the second ring. The conversation had taken up most of your day as by the time you had gotten off the phone with her, you only have an hour left to get ready.
“Don’t give him the power to control your life anymore, Y/n. He can’t hurt you anymore..”
You had repeated those words over and over to yourself while getting ready. Moorse reminded you that, you had moved all the way here to LA as a means to start fresh and that’s what you were going to do.
Smoothing down the front of the satin red dress you had tucked away in your closet, you had thought you’d never get to wear that again but glad that you were.
You and Lewis both agreed to meet up around eight and it was already ten minutes til; you had arrived a little earlier, taking a look around the area before you finally decided to park across the street since it’s free parking for today.
Soon, you find yourself walking the pavement towards the busy restaurant, hearing laughter and chatter from guest already seated, it doesn’t take you long to spot Lewis who was already outside waiting, chatting with the two younger men were parking the guest cars. As you make your way over, you can’t help but to take him in, getting the clear height of him. You knew he was tall but from sitting behind counter made it harder to fully take him in; his hair was cut and styled as the black suite and tie combo worked well for him, highlighting his muscular frame that, apart of you would be lying, if you weren’t even the slightly curious about how good he would look outside of that suite.
A low whistle comes from one of the younger guys, drawing Lewis attention to behind him and his jaw nearly dropped on the floor.
“Wow, hi..”
You couldn’t stop the grin from spread across your face as his eyes dance across your figure from head to toe, any other man and you would of squirmed in disgust but with Lewis you actually wanted his attention, wanted his gaze to stay focus on you and you had gotten your wish.
Tumblr media
Dinner was going smoothly, after ordering a food and drinks, you had felt yourself becoming more and more comfortable with him as he was sharing more about himself and you were giving him bits and pieces but he didn’t push you to share more than what you were comfortable with. The more he spoke, the more you found yourself growing more and more attracted to him, from his ability to transition from one topic to another with ease, always keeping you on your toes with the flow on conversation. If he wasn’t filing in the conversation, he was attentive, listening and giving you his full attention and you find yourself liking it.
The waitress had finish clearing off the plates after dropping off new drinks for you both, you were only on your second glass which surprised you as well.  Lewis had just got done showing you pictures of his dog when his phone vibrate.
“Maybe you should take it?” You had asked, throughout the night, his phone has been going off with notifications, you didn’t mind too much but he insisted on just ignoring it but now, a small curse leaves from his lips as he glances down at his phone before sighing.
“Uh, yeah it’s work I’m sorry sweetheart.” his voice showed a sign of annoyance, having to leave to take the call in the middle of his date wasn’t something he had wanted too do, in fact he was planning on ignoring the call all together but you insisted on him answering it. “I’ll be back.” with that, Lewis had quickly gotten to head out, giving a wink before you hear him answering the call as he heads out towards the front.
You take a sip from your glass of wine, glancing around the establishment at the other guest dining, watching the waiters and bussers moving about but one figure stops your gaze making your blood run cold.
‘No..’
Blinking a few times, you look back towards the other side of the room nearing the kitchen. Your mind had to be playing tricks on you, it had to be but as you glance in the same direction, he’s still there, only this time he was making his way through the crowd and towards you.
‘He’s not real..’
Two steps during into two strides.
‘He’s not real...’
He runs a hand down his chin as a wicked smile soon dawns on his face, his eyes growing darker the closer he got.
‘He’s not-’
You didn’t give yourself time to think, grabbing your clutch you move as fast as your heels would let you and you didn’t look back. The warm breeze from the summer night rushes into your lungs as you step out the restaurants, feeling like you were already out of breath.
“Y/n?” Glancing over to your left, you see Lewis standing with his phone pressed against his ear but he already looked two seconds away from ending the call. Shaking your head, you let out an shaky apology before taking back off towards your car as fast you can, fearing that looking back would give him time to catch you.
Ignoring your name being called, you make in towards the parking lot and frantically looking for you keys. Everything was felt like a blur too you as you piled out the parking lot, hands barely able to grip the steering wheel as you speed through traffic.
You dial the one person you knew, knew just how heavy this situation was. After the third ring, your sister had finally picked up, “Hell-”
“He’s back, Mya I saw h-him, I-I-”
“Whoa, hold on Y/n, what are you-”
You pull too a red light, a sob leaving your lips as you try to keep it together but you couldn’t. “It was him Mya, I saw him just now and-and he saw me.”
A sigh comes from the other end. “Y/n, are you sure?”
“Yes!” You shouted, wiping your tears quickly.
“Matt, he’s back!”

An opinion that nobody ask far: people have to realize celebs only give us what they want us to see and what comment on. So like for CEvans, I enjoy his acting, civic work, and Dodger pics. Personally I would like some shirtless thirst trap pics but that's what I have Lewis Tan for. Now Cevans dating history, it is whatever because that's his life and no matter how interesting or messy it is, he doesn't owe me any explanation. That's why I enjoy the fics written by wonderful authors like you.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 it’s an opinion I share. Everyone makes people think what they want. I enjoy laughing about the new drama when it comes up and sit stunned at the investigative skills. The FBI needs some of CEvans fans, criminals don’t stand a chance.

She said that she likes the same kind of stuff I do, which played out since we BOTH randomly chose to resolve MUTUAL PINING in our gift stories for each other. :)  Hers to me is AWESOME, of course.  I hope she likes mine even half as much.
Here’s the prompt I chose: Person 1 and Person 2 try the polar bear plunge and end up spending the rest of the day cuddling with each other in front of a fire. “We’re never doing that again.”“Agreed.”
The Plunge
“Whatcha scared of, Cap? Is it the cold water?  If it’s that, then I get it, but if it’s just about getting ogled by everyone when they see you in a bathing suit, then you’re chicken under all that muscle. Ooh!  Is it that you think there‘ll be an actual Polar Bear there?” Darcy’s chiding echoed through the cavernous Avengers’ Gymnasium.
Steve paused mid-push up and looked up at Darcy, nearly hopeful.  “Will there be a bear?”  She’d been trying to convince him to do something called a ‘Polar Bear Plunge’ for several minutes.  He’d spent most of that time staring at her luscious legs and missed half of what she said.  Next to him, Sam stopped doing push ups and lay down, breathing heavily and struggling to mind his own business while Steve and Darcy danced badly around the heavy mutual attraction that EVERYONE saw clearly, but them.
Clint hit the target bull’s-eye for the one hundred and ninety-second time in a row and snorted a laugh. Natasha, meditating by a window, cracked a smile.
Darcy grinned and shook her head.  “Nah. Just people imitating polar bears by running in and out of icy water.”  She mock shuddered, pulling her arms in tight across her chest.  After Darcy left Jane’s lab and became the Avengers’ media/social media liaison, her wardrobe shifted from bulky sweaters and ratty jeans to professional, vintage-chic pencil skirts and tailored, silk blouses.
Steve forced his gaze away from Darcy and reminded himself that she was in a relationship.  He’d seen her having lunch with Ian just the previous day, laughing together with the lucky-as-hell young man (a sight that always bothered Steve so much he had to avoid them). He frowned at himself with impatient censure and resumed his exercise, giving Sam a look that chided his friend into resuming exercise as well.  “Well, to be honest, I like my odds with an actual polar bear better than the idea of the other stuff you mentioned.”  Steve resumed counting his reps in the vain hope of cooling his ardor. He could hardly walk sometimes after being around Darcy.  She shifted closer and he reveled in the scent combination of spicy perfume and femininity that was unique to Darcy Lewis. Intoxicating.
Since the day Darcy Lewis arrived at Avengers Tower, he’d been gone on her.  Meeting her boyfriend moments later had been a crushing disappointment, but hadn’t stopped Steve from wishing things different. Soon after her arrival, Steve went out on a long mission and tried to forget Darcy, but failed. He dreamed about her every night and fantasized about her every day, even more after he returned and got to know her. She watched movies with him sometimes, and he made a point of watching the classics that were on her ‘must-see, but haven’t seen yet’ list.  It was fun for him to see films with someone who didn’t know what to expect anymore than he did, to just enjoy them without feeling like he had to understand why each film was a cultural touchstone for the other viewer.  And Darcy was FUNNY.  So, then, he liked and cared about her in addition to being sexually obsessed.  He avoided knowing gazes from mind-reading Wanda on a regular basis.
Darcy unconsciously fanned herself with her StarkPad.  She supposed that early and frequent hot flashes were inevitable, given that she’d been single for months now and was surrounded by specimens of perfection. She’d never known push ups could be so exciting, but Steve Rogers was doing them and he was unfairly beautiful. And nice. And sassy.  And the literal man of her hottest dreams. It made her uneasy to know that there was someone around who could read her mind.  The impatient looks Wanda Maximoff gave her sometimes confirmed that Darcy’s sordid fantasies weren’t totally private (and that the younger woman didn’t care to experience Darcy’s perspective on Steve).  But, it wasn’t like Darcy could stop fantasizing about Steve Rogers.  She hadn’t had it this bad for anyone, ever before.
The careful, seemingly infinite, distance Steve put between them drove her to distraction, like the rest of him. He’d obviously put her in the friend zone and she could only wish she was interesting to the one man she thought near perfection.
Wanda magically crashed two weights together in mid-air and let out a noise like a low growl.  Tony chuckled grimly and pushed himself harder than before. Clint shot another bull’s-eye, this time on a target flying through the air fifty feet away.
Steve’s muscles rippled with every movement. The idea of seeing even more of his gorgeous body left Darcy’s mouth dry and her lips buzzing with the ever-growing desire to nip at his skin.  There was a place at the juncture of his neck and his sculpted shoulder.  She wanted to taste that spot, had nearly assaulted him while watching movies together more than once.  She imagined Steve moaning her name, then switched to imagining that she was lying beneath him as he parted her thighs and pushed home.  His lips…
“Darcy?  Do you hear me?”  Steve paused push ups again, arms extended.  His brow furrowed as he peered up at her, obviously concerned.  Sam took the opportunity to lie down and rest again. He faced away from Steve and Darcy, determined not to get pulled into their nonsense.
Across the gym, Wanda gave up on her exercises and stomped out, muttering, “both are blind and determined to stay that way, unhappier and unhappier. I don’t know how much more I can stand.”  Tony frowned as he heard Wanda’s rant.  He restarted his movement combination, trying to regain his focus and concentration.
Clint glanced at Steve and Darcy, shook his head impatiently, and went after Wanda. “Hey, kid!” Natasha closed her eyes more tightly and continued her meditation.
Darcy fanned herself more and shook her head.  “Yeah. It’s Coney Island people raising money for sick kids and their families, but I’ll just tell them you can’t be bothered.”
Hurt flashed across Steve’s face and Darcy opened her mouth to apologize.  He forgave her even before she could speak. “I know you didn’t mean it, Darcy.  You’re just trying to get me to do something good for people.”
She nodded, answering smile tremulous.  He understood her so well.  Why couldn’t he like her as more than a friend?  Every insecurity she’d ever had chimed in to answer that self-destructive question.
Steve’s brow furrowed as he noted the distress in her face.  He assumed he’d put it there with his lack of response to her request. Of course he wanted to help! He hated himself for being so caught up in lust for Darcy that he disappointed her by seeming uninterested in helping sick children.  Guilt twisted his gut.
Across the room, Tony Stark stopped his martial arts workout long enough to roll his eyes in annoyance and offered, “both of you do it, and I’ll chip in a cool two million.”
Rhodey nodded.  “Good thinking.”  He continued his weight lifting routine.  Natasha smiled serenely.  Sam nodded and grunted as he resumed doing push ups.
Darcy whirled to face Tony, squeaking, “what?!”  She found herself wringing her hands and shivering with dread.  Not only had she practically forgotten that anyone else was in the room other than her and Steve, she loathed the idea of a savagely-cold polar plunge. But to bring in that much money for the kids? She’d have to do it.
The billionaire shrugged. “Why not?  Don’t you want to help sick kids and their families, Lewis? And Coney Island?”  He suppressed a grin as Darcy paled and Steve gaped, face reddening as his gaze swept up Darcy’s body for the fiftieth time that day.  Darcy’s jaw tightened as she gave a short nod of acceptance. Tony waggled his brows.  “You’re both hot enough in a bathing suit to look good handing over a giant check from me.” He called out, “Friday!  Get Lewis set up for tanning and register these two for the Coney Island Polar Bear Plunge.  Make up one of those awful check props and set up the deposit to occur the moment these two goofs take the plunge.”
He shot Steve a pointed look and prayed the Captain would understand his double meaning.  Watching Steve and Darcy lust for and misread each other had lost its entertainment value months ago.  Pepper insisted that it was important for them to figure their feelings out for themselves.  But no one had explicitly said Tony couldn’t give them a helpful push by forcing them into a shared trial… that required them to strip down.  And he could do something good for sick kids at the same time. Win, win, win.
Friday’s reply was immediate.  “Done, Boss.”
---
It was the coldest day of the year.  Icy winds whipped across the forbidding Atlantic Ocean waves. Snow fell lightly from dense, gray clouds.
Darcy shuddered and refastened a gold strap on her red surf boots, a gift from Tony that mollified her some since at least her feet would stay warm.  Doing interviews on behalf of the Avengers was old hat to her by now, but this was her first time doing one wearing a bath robe and standing in front of at least fifty people (of all genders) dressed up as chorus girls from Captain America’s WWII USO show, in addition to the crowd of thousands that had shown up for the charity spectacle. It was a party atmosphere. Darcy’s robe was Iron Man red with gold piping and had an Avengers patch on the shoulder.  She treasured the patch since she knew it was Tony’s way of declaring her part of the team, and the plush robe was sinfully soft. Its warmth would be more than welcome after she took the dreaded plunge.  She glanced towards the water as the wind raised goose bumps on her forearms. She didn’t want to think about how cold it was going to feel to go into the ocean. She jerked the robe sleeves down and curled her fingers inside.
Steve, in addition to all she always loved about him, was a PR dream.  Her only concern at events with him was the behavior of his overzealous fans.  He wore a blue robe and surf boots and smiled good-naturedly to the crowd.  If the USO-chorus wannabes fazed him, it didn’t show in his smile for the cameras.  Darcy had heard him curse Tony as their car arrived at Coney Island, so she was impressed by Steve’s deception skills.  He finished an interview and returned to Darcy’s side.
His lips tightened to a thin line as he glanced at her covered hands and took a deep breath. “It’d be better to start cooling down, Darcy.  You don’t want the water to be too much of a shock.  It’s pretty cold.”  He turned and looked out at the snow-specked ocean.  Seeing him in profile always made her think of an eagle, noble and untouchable.
Darcy looked around and realized that others were doing as he suggested.  It was almost time for the plunge and the wise were cooling off to gradually acclimate.  Lifeguards circled in the crowd and Paramedics watched the throng of participants carefully.  People set aside bathrobes and bared winter-white skin, giggling and hopping awkwardly from one foot to the other.  Officials were waiting at the announcement stand for Steve and Darcy to present Tony’s check.  Darcy unbelted her robe and gestured to her assistant, Charlotte, before taking the garment off and handing it to her.
Steve turned his gaze back to Darcy.  His mouth fell open and he forced it shut and swallowed hard, afraid of actually drooling over the sensational sight of her in a bikini.
Wind gusted and Darcy bit back a whine, closed her eyes tight, and groused, “well, fuck me thoroughly,” as icy fury set her to shivering more than she ever had before. Her only consolations were that her skin wasn’t as ghostly white as usual for this time of year and the new bathing suit Tony had paid for was cute.  She knew that she looked good. Regardless of that kindness, she wanted to shove Tony Stark into an industrial freezer and leave him there.
Steve blurted, “gladly,” and then choked as though wishing he could unsay the word.  It took Darcy a few seconds to realize what he’d said. He blushed deeply and handed his robe to Charlotte, too.  Charlotte raised her brows and turned to take the robes to the car without a word to either of them.
Darcy opened her eyes and stared at Steve.  “Wait. What?” She was almost too shocked by what he’d said to ogle him.  Almost. His bare chest was a work of art that set her to shivering in a different way.  That spot at the base of his neck called to her.  She held her bottom lip between her teeth.
He ducked his head. “’m sorry, Darcy.  I… You’re beautiful and wonderful. I’m crazy about… I shouldn’t. Well, I… Damn. Sorry.”
She stared at him, too stunned to reply or even to respond to the organizers gesturing them over.
Steve reached out and gave her hand an apologetic squeeze and led the way.  Darcy squared her shoulders as wolf whistles sounded from the crowd.  She guessed that sort of thing was inevitable.  Steve’s physique was glorious and her figure had always attracted attention. Again, she cursed Tony. Then, replaying Steve’s words in her head, she stumbled as they took the steps. He tightened his hold on her hand and she heard him apologize to her again, sounding agonized.
Onstage, Darcy’s professionalism took hold and Steve watched her, proudly awestruck by her poise and still reeling from the sight of her beautiful figure.  He’d never been so glad for his serum-induced perfect memory. He would forever remember how gorgeous she looked. She said words of thanks to the organizers, expressed the Stark Foundation’s admiration for the Coney Island Polar Bear Club’s dedication to Camp Sunshine, and worked together with Steve to present the gigantic check prop. Then, she introduced Steve.
As her nerves settled, Darcy watched him and listened.  The muscles of his back flexed as he talked with his hands, highly distracting.  Those muscles might now fascinate her as much as that spot at the base of his neck. She struggled to escape a fantasy of licking her way over every dip and rise of his back. Steve’s USO presentation training showed. More than that, his innate goodness won the crowd over.  Even some of the inevitable protesters against Avenger-related collateral damage quieted while Steve talked about being sick when he was a child and how hard it was on his mom.  Darcy fell even more in love with him.
All too soon, they were at the start line, facing the icy waves.  The herd of excited participants shivered- some screaming happily and some looking faint. A leader gestured for Steve to get in position.  Steve grabbed Darcy’s hand and pulled her close.  “I’m not trying to be inappropriate, but please stay with me.  It looks like things might get crazy and I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
She gave him a small smile of appreciation while gathering her courage.
A few people got rowdy and a drunken fight broke out.  Others jeered as the troublemakers were led away by the police.  Most of the people in the crowd applauded the officers and called for the plunge to begin.  Someone started a silly two-part chant.
“Polar!”
“Bear!”
It gained speed and volume as the excited throng volleyed the words back and forth.  The crowd jostled together restlessly.
Unable to wait any longer to ask, Darcy turned to Steve. “Before.  Did you say…?”
Steve grimaced.  “I’m sorry.  I know you’re with Ian and just think of me as a friend.  I find you so attractive…” He couldn’t help a lust-filled glance down her figure as he continued, “and I like you.  I expressed myself poorly.  And my timing was awful, just before you had to speak to the crowd. I can’t apologize enough.  I hope you can forgive me.”
Darcy shook her head, dazed. “I’m with…? I’m not dating Ian. After we came to New York, we realized that he and I wanted different things.  Ian and I are just friends now.”  She bit her lip again, excited by Steve’s confession.  Her heart filled with hope.
Steve blinked, hard. “I didn’t know.  Jane introduced him as your boyfriend that first day.”
Darcy shrugged, attempting and failing to seem blasé.  “We broke it off while you were away on a mission. I’d imagine that Captain America and the Avengers have more important concerns than the sad status of my love life these many lonely months.”  She chastised herself for not making it clear to Steve that she was single sooner.
His lips twitched into a small smile.  “Well, uh, what about Steve Rogers?”
She tilted her head, expression quizzical. “Huh?”
He chuckled nervously. “God.  I’m so bad with women. I should stop talking.  It’d be terrible if I talk about myself in the third person.”  A nervous giggle escaped her.  He sighed.  “I’m crazy about you, Darcy.  I’ve had it bad for you since we met. Would you please go out with me sometime?”
Darcy smiled, ecstatic. “Yes!  I mean… sounds good.  Stuff of my dreams kind of good, to be honest. When?”
Steve’s eyes went wide and a big smile lit up his face. It suited him.  Darcy reached up and pulled his head down so that she could give him a quick kiss on the lips.  They stood close together, overwhelmed by emotion.  Darcy’s training kicked in and she realized that their kiss would probably be caught on camera.  She couldn’t find it in herself to care.
The chanting died off as someone initiated a countdown. “10…9…8…7…6…” Overeager ‘plungers’ pushed against the start tape, stretching it and moving towards the water. “5…4…3…2…” The last number was lost amid a cacophony of shrieks, curses, and laughter as people dashed forward.
Darcy and Steve grinned nervously at each other and ran into the surf together, hand in hand.  She shrieked as the icy water washed over her feet and ankles. Someone screamed, “it doesn’t count unless you go all the way!” Though another swimmer argued with the first speaker, Steve and Darcy trudged further, both determined to finish anything they started. Darcy cursed as a wave slapped into her chest.  Steve echoed her sentiments soon after.  They both ducked their heads under the water and turned back, shivering.  For a few seconds, Darcy gasped and nearly hyperventilated. Involuntary tears ran down her cheeks and she shook from head to toe.  Steve grasped her around the waist, partly to steady her on her feet and partly just to touch her.
People thanked Steve for coming and took last-second pictures as he hurried towards the car, Darcy still shaking against his side.  Charlotte had towels for them both.  As Charlotte held the robe to cover her, Darcy shucked her icy-soaked swimsuit and moaned with pleasure while closing the robe around her chilled body.  She sat on the back seat of the car and peeled off the surf boots and scurried inside.  The heat was on and it felt fantastic. Darcy groaned with relief, pulled on thick socks, and watched Steve change from his swimsuit to sweatpants under his robe. He leapt into the warmed car after her, sighing happily as he pulled on socks and shoes and retied his robe. Charlotte handed him a thermos of hot chocolate and got in the front seat with the driver.  The driver considerately put up the privacy shield to help heat the back seat more quickly for the frozen duo.
When he saw how she still shivered, Steve pulled Darcy onto his lap and wrapped her in his warm embrace. Hugging her felt like the most natural thing in the world, a huge relief after months of thinking her out of his reach. Her teeth chattered, “y… you must have melted lots of Arctic ice. You’re so warm!”
He shook his head and kissed her on the temple.  “That’s terrible. You’re about as smooth as I am when it comes to romance, Darce.”  She laughed until she started coughing.  He held her close and rubbed her back soothingly, his broad hand covering the expanse of her back from side to side in a manner that took her breath away.  “It wasn’t as bad as I feared, ya know.  The Arctic is MUCH colder.”
Darcy rubbed her eyes and glared.  “Sado-masochist! Never again.  I’m the kind of girl to wear a heavy sweater in the desert.  I like it hot. So, I’ve vowed revenge on Tony St...”
Steve found himself distracted as her robe fell open below the knees.  He put a warm hand on her bare leg and pulled it away as she stopped talking, mid-word.  She reached down and pressed his hand back down on her skin.  “Warm.  You. Me. Warmer.”
His grin was sinful. “I’m getting ideas, Darcy.  You ought to be careful teasing a guy.”
She snuggled closer and made a noise in the back of her throat.  “Who says I’m teasing?”  Her pretty eyes gleamed with eagerness.
He kissed her lips, savoring. “Salty.”
She nodded.  “Ocean water. Probably kind of icky, too.”
He chuckled, shook his head, and poured her a hot chocolate.  She sipped it and enjoyed the feel of his calloused fingers rubbing circles on the tender skin at the back of her knee.  It was mesmerizing. When she finished the drink, she relaxed more against him.  She was warm again and felt nearly boneless.  Steve’s fingers played further up her soft thigh and she savored arousal, not even trying to hold back happy noises that inflamed him.  Lust pooled through them both, even as post-adrenaline lassitude set it. She mumbled, “so, you liked me all this time?”
His fingers skimmed up her side like a trail of electricity, then to her jaw.  He turned her head and began kissing her deeply, slow and soft kisses. He brushed his nose over her cheek. “Yeah.  I like you.”
She squirmed in his lap, enjoying the way he hissed with want.  “I like you, too, Steve.”  As he kissed languorously down the sensitive skin of her neck, she gasped, “oh, yes. I like you. Oh, yes.  That. More.”  He groaned lustily, trembling as he delighted in her response.
They both saw the Tower coming into view and reluctantly parted to straighten their robes and smooth their hair.  Darcy slipped on boots and then took his hand again.  A glance at him caused her to giggle.  “Your jaw is really tight.  You okay?” He nodded and gave an unconvincing smile.  Her grin softened. “Would you feel better if I invite you to my place for lunch?” She squeezed his hand.  “My plan for the afternoon involves blankets, a warm fire, coffee, popcorn, and movies.  But, you might be able to persuade…”
He swallowed hard as he nodded.  “I don’t want to rush things.  This is more than…”
She shook her head. “Not rushing.  You really need to stop assuming you know what I’m thinking. Your track record…”
He gave her a look of impatience reminding her that he wasn’t the only one to blame, pulled her close, and kissed her hard until she was breathless.
As the car slowed, she pulled away and composed herself.  “You guessed right that time, Steve.”
---
Darcy took her time in the shower, letting the hot water wash away the sand and salt of the Atlantic Ocean.  She leaned against the bathroom counter wearily and savored the heat of her hair dryer. Dressing was easy.  It was comfort time. Soft leggings, fuzzy socks, a long t shirt, and a thick sweater were in order.  She made sure to have pretty lingerie underneath, just in case, and put on enough makeup to bolster her confidence.
Steve arrived on time and with a sweet bouquet in hand.  The moment the door closed behind him, he broke the awkwardness by kissing her silly again.  He had her pressed against the door as their hands began passionate wandering. The delivery guy had to knock three times before Darcy felt presentable enough to answer the door.  She was sure the delivery guy thought her manic, with the wide grin she couldn’t repress. Steve was just as bad.
They were happy.
They devoured good, hot soup and sandwiches and settled down on her couch to watch ‘Sabrina’ (with Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn) by the fire.  Darcy had only seen the Harrison Ford version previously, so the original counted on her list.  It seemed that version of ‘Sabrina’ was going to stay on that list of movies she hadn’t yet seen though.
Months of pent-up longing led them from warming cuddles into a heated make-out session.  Darcy discovered, to her considerable delight, that nipping on that spot at the base of Steve’s neck absolutely wrecked him. So, she did it again and again.
Later, they saw a news report about the Coney Island Polar Plunge on TV.   Steve sipped his hot chocolate.  “What a crazy way to raise money for a good cause!”  He laughed as he looked down at a text on his phone.  “Tony says that everyone saw us kissing in the news report, from just before the plunge.  Wanda’s delighted that we’re finally happy and he takes full credit.  He says we should do the Polar Plunge every year.”
Onscreen, one of the revelers collapsed and was taken away by paramedics.  The newscaster reported that person’s full recovery and began discussing the effects of extreme cold on the human body with a doctor.  The wisdom of the activity came into question.  A member of the club argued counter-point, passionate about health benefits of the plunge.
Darcy shivered, remembering. “Tell Tony that he and Pepper are up next.  They look great in bathing suits, too, and we’re never doing that again.  He got what he really wanted.  We figured things out between us.”
Steve kissed her hand. “Agreed.  I’m glad for the charity’s gain, but even happier to be here with you.”  He quickly replied to Tony and laughed at the immediate reply that every other Avenger was cheering for him and Darcy ‘FINALLY getting it on’.
Darcy took the phone from him and set it aside.  “Looking at that report gave me chills.  C’mere and warm me up again.”
Steve pushed Darcy back on the couch and lay over her.  “I thought you’d never ask.”

1|chapter two
You haven’t left your apartment since Friday evening.
After your call with your sister and the endless voicemails you’ve left your therapist, you shut all your curtains and checked the locks on your door almost every hour on the hour. You barely slept a wink of sleep, you could barely hold any food down without your stomach knotting in discomfort at the thought that he was out somewhere out there and you just knew he was looking for you.
Lewis had called a few times but you couldn’t bring yourself to pick up any of his calls. How do you explain the reason you took off without seeming like you were losing your mind? Apart of you felt like he wouldn’t understand, maybe he’ll think you just took off because the date was going horrible which was far from the truth, so you left your phone to ring and after a notification would signal the voicemail left behind but you couldn’t bring yourself to listen too it, you were sure that you had ruined any chance of ever dating him now.
You hated this, hated that he had so much power over you even after all this time; thinking about all the steps you had taken to hide your identity and anything about your life back home. Your sister Mya being the only person you’ve told about your move to LA, wanting to be discreet for your own safety but that seems to have gone out the window.
On Monday, you had called into work, using some sick time you were able to get and knowing that you wouldn’t be able to focus on work, let alone be around other people, so you’ve taken the time to get dressed and go to your appointment with doctor Moorse.
Tumblr media
“Good morning, Y/n!” Moorse, or Tammy as she told you too call her, offers you kind smile, holding her office door open for you as you take a step in. You take a few minutes, looking towards the windows with a few of the neighboring businesses and people walking along the sidewalk.
“Would you like some tea?” She asked, walking over towards the mini coffee bar she had set up in the corner of the room. You shook your head before taking a seat slowly on the light brown leather sofa, rubbing your palms on your jeans as you try to calm your nerves.
Tammy soon comes around and takes a seat across from you before taking off her glasses, a disappointed sigh comes from your lips. “Y/n, I just wanted to start off by apologizing for not answering the phone when you called.” You go to assure her that there wasn’t a problem but she shakes her head. “I think we’ve established a pretty good relationship here Y/n and I promised that I would always be a call away but I did not follow through on my end and therefore, I sincerely apologize.”
After accepting her apology, you dived into what happened Friday, you told her how you were nervous but still had a great time with Lewis but then you seen Matthew there and you ran, leaving Lewis there without an explanation and how you spent the remainder of your weekend in your apartment, afraid to even leave your apartment.
Tammy patiently listen as you spoke, her pen and pad sat in her lap her hands twisting the pen in her fingertips but she still waits a moment before speaking. “So, how does that make you feel now? ”
You haven’t thought about it, you didn’t know what you were suppose to do. “I-” a frown forms on your lips as you think more and more.
“I’ve kept having this dream...after what happened that night I-I keep having the same dream that he was-was...that I was sleeping in bed but my eyes were open and I could see him standing over him. Not touching me or saying anything too me just-watching me and I couldn’t move and he’s just smiling and smiling and smiling at me and-” You quickly wipe the tears that had fallen from your eyes as you recall the same dream that’s been haunting you since that night, “and I can hear their voice-”
“From your parents?” Tammy asked to clarify what you meant, she’s heard this story a hundred of times by now but she still asked you questions.
You nod your head, your mind replaying that unfaithful night over and over again in your head, the sound of the family dogs barking, the sounds of glass breaking, a gun firing, the sounds of your mother screaming, the smell of gasoline..you wanted to vomit, to erase your mind of that night completely.
Tammy studies you, seeing you shutting down and caving into yourself again wasn’t what she wanted but she knew you needed to go at your own pace. “Lets go back to earlier in the evening Friday, you were on a date with a man from your work?” She asked, steering the conversation away from your thoughts from home.
“Uh, he’s a customer actually.” You sniffle, wiping away any stray tears. “I haven’t spoken too him since I left. I just...I wouldn’t even know how to explain it.”
“Do you see yourself being in a relationship with this new man in your life?” You had shrugged your shoulder a little, thinking about the possibilities.
“I have only know him for about year I guess, not all that well but it was nice getting to know him..”
“You still can.” She state, in a matter or facts kind of way but you shook your head. “He probably hates me.” You state, sighing as you think about it.
“I hesitated when he first asked me and during dinner it felt like he was doing all the talking and I was just...there and then I just left like that.” Shaking your head, you glance down at your jeans, picking at the material. “He has tried calling and he’s left a few messages to see if I was okay and; he’s being so patient but how patient could a man be before he says ‘screw it this is too much work’ and just leave?”
Tammy stops writing on her notepad, waiting for you to finish your thought but she finds you staring at her, actually looking for an answer. “Well, I always believe that actions speak louder than words and if someone shows you who they really are and where their intentions lie. In your case, even though you don’t know him from a fly on the wall, it seems like he’s always made his intentions known with you.”
You sit back, listening to her words as she continues. “The best thing you can do Y/n, is to trust in your own gut. What is your gut telling you about this man?”
Your mind goes back to that evening, sitting across from him, feeling happiest for the first time in years and that brought a smile too your face. You liked how you felt whenever you talked too him, even if the conversation was no more than five minutes, you just liked him.
Tammy can’t help but feel happy seeing the small smile forming on your face as you process your thoughts, you have been her patient for little over four years now but has known you since you were a baby with both her and your mother being sorority sisters, so to watch your growth always brought a smile to her face.
“So, tell me more about your week.”
Tumblr media
After your session with Tammy, you felt a better sense of clarity and a small grasp back on your sanity. You shoot your sister a text, keeping her up to date on the progress so far in your sessions as well as to catch up with her to make sure she was doing okay.
You were wandering around Ocean Avenue, enjoying the weather as the cool breeze from the ocean cooling you from the California heat; you felt good after your talk with Tammy and knew that going back home would end with you locking yourself in your apartment again so you enjoyed your walk out. Stopping at a street vendor for some fruit and water you continue on your walk, window shopping a few outfits as you past, Tammy did mention that it was time for you to start making your apartment feel less like a prison and more like a home. You haven’t brought anything outside the standard furniture but there wasn’t anything there that scream you and you wanted to change that.
Stopping in front of antique store, a royal velvet blue love seat sat on display just in your price budget, you pull your phone from your back pocket, snapping a photo of it before someone clearing their throat, gaining your attention.
Lewis stood off too your right, offering you a small smile. “Hey, Y/n”
You were shocked for a moment, not expecting to see him but apart of you was actually happy to see him, “hi Lewis.” you smile back before you both fall into silence, you wanted to say so much but you didn’t know where to start.
Lewis finally lets out a sigh, scratching the back of his before he focuses on you. “I’m sorry about the other night Y/n.”
You quickly shake your head. “N-No, I should be the one to apologize.” You rush out quickly. “I shouldn’t of left like that..” you shift a little on your feet, feeling small under his gaze, you can’t help but think that he has to be upset at you or something so you brings your eyes back to his, “I’m sorry Lewis.” You say softly, holding each others gaze as unspoken words pass between you two before Lewis takes a step closer towards and you feel the warmth on his hands holding on to your shoulder gently.
“Y/n-”
A voice from behind calls out to Lewis, another male and woman falling behind break whatever bubble you were both in and you watch as something flashes in his eyes but its gone the moment he looks away, an easy going smile plastered on his face now as he turns towards the two.
“How’s it going guys?”
The woman following behind soon hurries over, throwing herself at Lewis before clinging on to his arm. “Where have you been? I feel like I don’t see you anymore, baby!” she whines.
Your eyes quickly shift to Lewis to see his jaw clenched tight but the easy smile on his face remains. The man that had called for him reaches for you hand, introducing himself as Marcus before placing a kiss on the back of your hand which you soon pull away quickly.
“Where you headed beautiful? You should come join us for lunch?” Marcus had ask, either being completely oblivion to Lewis death glares or simply ignoring him altogether, Marcus offers you a playful smile.
The woman finally speaks up, her hard glare on you, “I’m sure she has other plans Marcus, just like us.” she fits in, making it known you weren’t welcome to join the three of them for lunch.
You offer them polite smile, already feeling your eyes threatening to water with tears. “Actually, I’ve already had a few plans so-but thanks for the offer.” you spare Lewis another glance, his eyes almost looks like he’s pleading with you.
For what? You didn’t bother to stick around and find out.

Lewis was in a bad mood.
If he had known he would of ran into you today then he would of had his schedule cleared and would of spent the whole day with just you. Instead, he was stuck sitting in a booth with Kim to his left and Marcus over on his far right ordering drinks for the table as they await their guest for the evening.
Waitress comes over, dropping off the drinks but lingering a bit for Lewis or Marcus attention before stomping away with a huff from being ignored. Kim takes a moment to glance over at Lewis who’s been tense sense they have left the strip, checking his phone every five minutes and she was getting annoyed.
“What’s your deal?”
Sparing her a glance, Lewis scoffs a little before taking a sip from his glass. “Why’d you have to do that earlier?”
Now it was her turn to scoff. “Do what?” she ask, faux innocent and all.
Lewis glares at Kim before shaking his head, “Never mind.” He says before pulling out his phone, scrolling through it and again she finds herself annoyed.
“Are you upset because I scared off your little girlfriend?” A smirk plays on her face as she watches his jaw tense more, the veins in hands becoming more profound the tighter his grip goes around his glass and phone.
Kim always knew just the right buttons to push to tick him off. They’ve been friends since they were kids, she knew Lewis better than she knew herself so she knew exactly what she was doing seeing him and whomever that other girl was, the looks Lewis was giving her; Kim hated it. So she did what she normally does, play the fake-girlfriend till the other women back off.
Lewis may not be able too see it but she was doing them both a favor. Less randoms coming into this line of business and she gets to keep Lewis to herself.
Win-win.
Finishing his drink, Lewis slams his glass down hard enough on the table that she was surprised that it didn’t shatter on impact. Kim looks back at him, seeing that same unreadable yet easy going smile that sent a chill down her back.
“Kim, do you know how long DeMarco is going to take until he gets here?” He ask calmly, a little too calm for her liking but at last, she reaches back towards her phone, checking for any updates before sighing.
“Five minutes away.”
Lewis leans back in his seat, replaying earlier events in his head, he wanted to say so much too you and he knew that you felt the same, he just knew but there was something holding you back and he wanted to know what it was but now he was wondering if he had officially ruined any chances with you.
“Good evening, I hope I didn’t keep you all waiting.”
Glancing up, the older gentleman appears before them, DeMarco Esposito stood before them, making Lewis sit up a little straighter as DeMarco drapes his coat over the back of the chair before taking a seat, only then does Lewis notice the other male standing a few feet away, most liking keeping guard.
DeMarco glance back and forth between the three of them before a low chuckle leaves his lips, relaxing Lewis a bit. “Lewis, my boy, how have things been?”
Lewis sighs a little, knowing he’s really not asking because he cares, DeMarco just wants to be sure that all his numbers and product are still good.
“Thing’s have been good. We’ve been getting shipments in on schedule and as far as talking goes, no one is uttering a peep about what we’ve got going on.” Lewis knew that DeMarco was all about business so might as well get right too.
A moment of silence stretches out as DeMarco takes in all the information, nodding his head slowly before he speaks. “I’m going to need you too cut ties with Gomez and his people.”
“What!?”
DeMarco quickly cuts Marcus a hard glance, silencing him before he could continue. Lewis watches for a moment before he speaks, “Are you sure about that?”
DeMarco soon turns his attention back to Lewis, “Why wouldn’t I be sure that?” though he seemed calm, Lewis knew better and knew that questioning DeMarco may have some consequences but as of late, DeMarco has becoming more and more reckless with his decisions and that could cost them a more than DeMarco thinks.
“We’ve been doing business with the Gomez’s for decades now, it would be foolish to just cut them off especially with the heat finally off our backs.”
DeMarco chuckles lowly before shaking his head slowly, “Foolish? Young man, you wouldn’t even begin to understand how foolish things really are. Gomez and his little gang are selling to kids, over taxing their neighbors, blowing each others brains out and killing for sport; no care in the world but you think that I am being the foolish one? Son, you have no idea how foolish I can be.”
Lewis remains silent, his jaw clenched but he keeps his focus down on the hard wood table. Satisfied with the lack of responses, DeMarco is soon out of his seat and pulling his coat back on before tossing a stack of cash in an envelope on the table,
“Take care of Gomez, quickly before I start losing my patience.”

A small sighs leave your lips as you settle back into bed with your laptop on your lap.
After leaving Santa Monica, you spend most of your day online shopping for your apartment, Travis and Nikki both reaching out to make sure you were okay since they believe you were out of work from being sick and you appreciated them checking in.
Now, after showering, you lay back in bed and start up where you left off at on Scandal. Only fifteen minutes in does your phone starts to ring, pausing your show, you reach over for your phone on your end table seeing Mya’s name and you soon pick up.
“Hey Mya, what’s up?”
“Just calling to talk-uh-are you busy?”
You soon sit up, tossing your laptop on to your bed before cupping your phone closer to your ear. “Is everything okay? Are you alright?”
It’s quiet on the other end for a moment before you hear her sighing. “I’m fine, Y/n but I just want you too be fine.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“After you called, I did some digging with Ryan and we called Maywest Rehabilitation Center about Matt..Y/n, he’s been dead since last year.”
You grow quiet, hearing your name being called but it sounds so far away as you let the news sink in before speaking. “H-How?”
“Suicide, they didn’t go into further details after that but they did say his mom came to pick up his things.” Mya says on her head, knowing that this is a lot for you to take in but it is what needed to be done.
“Mya I-I’m going to call you back.” After saying goodbye to your little sister, you sat on your bed, stuck on what you’ve just been told. After his trial, you had packed up and moved from multiple cities, the last being Seattle before you settled here in LA all because you were afraid that he would find you.
Tammy had said that you would feel a sense of paranoia from time to time the first year Matthew was put away. The first week you were seeing him everywhere so maybe it wasn’t any difference but that night, he looked so real, you swore that it was him but given the news now, a sense of relief some have came over you but in the back of your mind you had a feeling that he was still watching.
He was always watching.
