Hello! This is my first ever post here on Tumblr! I know some people here might have the same idea as me but I just really wanted to post something haha! So, here is how I will format my posts:

My Demon (2023/24, South Korea)

Mini-review:

Look, I'm not gonna lie. I started this drama for a very superficial reason: Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang are one of the most gorgeous couples I've ever seen. And tbh, that's one of the things that kept me watching until the end. The first half was pretty fun, thanks to their will-they-won't-they dynamic and some really funny supporting characters and recurring gags. Unfortunately, it began to drag around the middle part, and then it got more and more boring with each passing episode. By the time the final episode came out, I no longer cared about the plot, the characters or anything else (although the ending itself was quite nice). With all that in mind, I can't help but think My Demon would have worked much better as a movie.

Comparable to: Alice (kdrama) ; Alive (kmovie) ; Grid (kdrama); Train (kdrama)

The drama that that could’ve been. I know a lot of kdrama fans had so many problems with this one and yes there are many glaring problems with it, plot holes galore, inconsistencies all around, and a wtf type ending, but…..yes but despite all that if you’re a die hard sci-fi dystopian/time travel romance genre fan then you probably might still like this. I threw out all logic, all plot holes, and switched off my brain and enjoyed the cinematography, chemistry, and the acting which were done really well. It’s by far from perfect but still very watchable and enjoyable (*minus the ending* seriously were they hoping for a sequel)

Six South Koreans charged in Moon official's kidnapping (1984)

NEW YORK -- Six former South Korean military men have been charged with kidnapping and torturing the acting leader of the Unification Church two months ago in a plot to extort $1 million from the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's religious organization.

The FBI said Tuesday the suspects kidnapped Col. Bo Hi Pak, 54, the Unification Church's director of publications and its leader since Moon was sent to jail in July for tax evasion.

Pak, a retired South Korean army colonel, is chairman of Newsworld Communications, which runs the church's newspapers, including The Washington Times and the New York City Tribune.

Church officials disputed the FBI's description of Pak as church leader, saying several people share the running of church operations.

Court documents said Pak was leaving the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23 when he met Yung Soo Suh, 48, for dinner.

Pak got into a car driven by Su Il Yi, 51, where he was met by several other Koreans who pulled guns, handcuffed and blindfolded him.

The FBI said Pak was held in a small house in Slate Hill, N.Y., 50 miles north of New York City.

Lee Laster, the FBI's assistant director in New York, said Pak's captors used electric shocks and fired guns close to his head in a day and a half of torture to convince Pak 'they would kill him if he did not agree to transfer $1 million to a Swiss bank account.'

Pak agreed to wire half that amount to the Swiss account and on the morning of Sept. 25 was driven by two of his captors to LaGuardia International Airport in New York and allowed to fly to Washington to complete the cash transfer.

In Washington, Pak's lawyer, John Bray, said church leaders in New York knew something was wrong and notified authorities within 24 hours of Pak's disappearance.

The FBI contacted Pak when he arrived in Washington and the money transaction was delayed, then canceled.

Charged in the case were Yi, an unemployed bookkeeper who served with the Korean Allied Forces; Yung Keun Lee, 49; retired Gen. Sang Whi Nam, 59; Hyun Tae Yoo, no age given, and Hong Lim Park, no age given, a retired naval officer.

Officials said they were taken into custody in the past five days.

Laster declined to speculate whether internal church politics or South Korean politics were involved but, 'We believe it was a strictly financial deal. They were looking for a million dollars and any way they could get it.'

But during an arraignment in Newark, N.J., Yi's attorney told U.S. Magistrate G. Donald Haneke that the kidnapping 'ostensibly is a power struggle within the Unification Church.' He did not elaborate.

The church claims 3 million members worldwide.

I keep seeing that little clip of Dong Eun walking past Do Young, completely treating him as invisible while he is focused with his 100% attention on her.

All Dong-Do shippers are just amused by this clip. :-D

IDK what but I see something else here, instead of him being enchanted. He was triggered, baffled by how she was not able to see him. He who clearly stands out in the herd of ordinary common men. The entire game place has nothing but some old ordinary men wearing bland dull clothes. While he is in his high-end business suites, probably smelling like a million bucks wearing some luxurious perfume. He for sure is not someone who can go unnoticed in that particular group. It kind of kills him, that she hasn't even made eye contact with him. Her purposely being oblivious to his presence intrigues him ruthlessly.

Dang! Dong Eun, girl!! You leave him restless by doing nothing. Power move.

She did nothing, just plainly ignored him when he is amongst the extremely regular people. He would hate to blend in that group and she treated him as if he is not there at all until he approached her first and sat at the same table. Even then she kept her calm still. His slight grins and chuckles at her unpredictable replies did not waver her a little. She just remained unbothered, not a single thing about him unsettled her.

That must be so disturbing for him, no wonder she kept creeping into his thoughts. He is that person who moves with a bunch of guys surrounding him even on some simple site visits. People who would stay beside him to follow his orders, and his power can force a huge TV channel to respect his wife. And this simple, regular woman sitting here eating a samgak kimbap as if nothing is more important than that. Ugh! The tension he must have felt within...

I STILL DO NOT SHIP THEM TOGETHER.

She comes with huge emotional baggage and needs tons of healing once she succeeds. There are several simple things that trigger her trauma. Right now, she keeps her wounds untreated, to stay reminded of the atrocities.

She has kept her healing on hold for way too long. Even if Do Young pursues her, for her he would be 'Ex husband of that witch/bitch'. She should not have anything in her life that would remind her of her bullies. It'd hinder her healing in all the wrong ways possible. For the same reason, I don't even want that Doctor kid to be with her. He himself is struggling with his own issues and has to come over his fears and scars. Dude! Put your oxygen mask on first.

She should find someone if she really has to, someone like our sweet boy 'extraordinary' Lee Jun Ho. No drama that comes with him, just an accepting, loving, and caring green flag guy.

Songs for Solo Leveling Ships Pt. 1

I promise it's not just because of the title- "You burnt that bridge A million times, a million tries You play with fire" I headcanon that Choi Jong-In is more open about his feelings than Baek Yoon-ho (though both still pine for each other without officially confessing). So every time Jong-In tries to get closer to Yoon-Ho, Yoon-Ho distances himself ("burns that bridge") because he's lost (or almost lost if we're being delusional here) Eun-Seok and Min Byung-Gyu and doesn't want to be close to anyone else only to lose them. "Every time we touch, my fingers burn I just want that love, don't leave me hurt " I can feel the rush when we ignite 'Cause every time we touch Every time we touch, I feel that fire"

Both of them don't want to get hurt yet can't deny that they have feelings for the other. I do like how the song is on the calmer side, which is how I see their love for each other, despite their arguing (it's probably a coping mechanism to be honest)

This song could be from either perspective though I personally see from Yoon-Ho's perspective, with Jong-In being able to read Yoon-Ho very well (as seen when Jong-In knew why Yoon-Ho came to the place where Sung Jin-Woo was retesting) while Yoon-Ho's in denial about liking Jong-In.

"I say "f**k you" while I'm thinking of you as my husband"

This line doesn't need an explanation. We all know it's their relationship in one sentence.

Based on the brain rot I had with @manawari, this song is from Eun-seok's perspective. Park Hee-Jin's curious about Eun-Seok and the secrets he's hiding, despite not liking him, and Eun-Seok likes to tease her about it, making her dislike him even more.

"All that I want is you Even if I'm a fool Why do I fall for you? No turning back once we're connected"

Eun-Seok questions the feelings he has for Hee-Jin when he first realizes them, wondering why he likes her and why he wants to be with her. After spending a lot of time overthinking though, he eventually accepts his feelings for her.

I see this song from Lim Tae-Gyu's perspective soon after he sparred with Hoshino Minoru during the Jeju arc. His feelings for Minoru probably came out of nowhere (like this ship). I don't think many people expected this ship to be a thing let alone the hunters.

"Spend a summer or a lifetime with me Let me take you to the place of your dreams"

This is mostly referring to their long-distance relationship since despite being in a relationship, they have their responsibilities in their respective guilds and are only able to see each other for part of the year. When they meet up though, that's when they're able to catch up on the things they weren't able to do while apart.

This song could be from either perspective, but I imagine it from Park Kyung-Hye's, especially with how she was waiting for Sung Il-Hwan. If they had reunited before, I imagine her saying something very similar to these lines to her husband.

"Time stands still Beauty in all she is"

Basically, what happened when Kyung-Hye succumbed to Eternal Sleep. Years passed for her as the world moved on, including her husband being stuck in the gate.

This actually used to be one of my favorite songs a while ago, and I only rediscovered it recently

This song could be from either perspective too, especially with how I imagine Min Byung-Gyu and Lee Ju-hee helping each other with their traumas. For these lines in particular, I imagine one of them comforting the other when something triggered their trauma.

Another line referring to how I see the two reassuring each other that they're safe now and how they're there for them. A cute song for a cute ship
