Storage hangar - Malta Aviation Museum by Alan Wilson
Via Flickr:
The storage hangar was not open during my visit but this shot shows some of the aircraft in it. Nearest is Douglas C-47A-90-DL ‘C-FITH’. She is c/n 20228 and was originally built for the US military as 43-15762. Standing vertically directly under the nose of the C-47 is the centre wing section and engine nacelles of Gloster Meteor T.7 ‘WL360’. Built in 1952 she was retired in 1966 and then allocated UK maintenance serial 7920M when she went on display at RAF Locking. Sold privately, she moved to Yatesbury and was stored there until coming to Malta in December 2006. At the far end is Beech C-45H Expeditor ‘N495F’. Originally built as C-45F ’44-87045’ with c/n 8304, she was remanufactured in 1954 and became 52-10958 with the c/n AF-888. She became N114G in 1963 and then N495F in 1966, operating from Malta for the Libyan Aviation Company (LAVCO). Derelict from 1974, she was with the International Fire School at Hal Far from 1991 before joining the museum in April 1996. Malta Aviation Museum Ta’ Qali, Malta 27th July 2020
