Imperfect Spirals

(Summary: Sarina and Lauren spend the night)

Lauren is still asleep. Sarina can't believe it, and yet the proof is in front of her. Her respiratory is at an even seventeen breaths per minute, and her all-knowing eyes are fluttering in a REM pattern. Not even an augment can fake that.

She looks soft, like this. The high cheekbones and dangerous jawline are both relaxed, but the most cutting things about her, her eyes and her mind, remain briefly hidden. Sarina is half tempted to lift up the blanket and remind herself of other soft parts, the curves of her waist and breasts, the slight swell of her stomach- evidence of a good meal.

In the morning, she knows Lauren will go for a fifteen-mile run and be back in exactly one hour (a four-minute mile, Lauren often reminds her with a smug smile) before breakfast. Sarina will make the bed and make coffee in the meantime. She will meet her at the same, precise moment. No guessing, no pretending, a mind as sharp as hers (sharper, Lauren's voice mocks in her ear) right there.

"Stop watching me," a sleepy voice cuts in.

Sarina smiles. It is rare to find something so entrancing she gets truly lost in her thoughts. "Stop being so beautiful, then."

Lauren's face twists into a blushing smile before she turns her face towards her pillow and wriggles a bit. Finally, she turns back. "Charmer."

"I learned from the best," Sarina replies, twisting her fingers into Lauren's hair before pulling her in for a kiss. Lauren's lips are soft, but her fingers are hard against Sarina's hips. Sarina can't help but shiver against her as their bodies mold together, the soft flesh of her breasts and her torso brushing against her own.

"You are insatiable," Lauren whispers, a half smile against her lips.

Sarina can't help but beam back. "I'm just looking for my limit. What, have you hit yours?"

Lauren laughs, sultry and surprised. "Not even close."
