I need August to become boring as shit. No more shit happening to me, no more emergencies, no weddings, no birthdays, no health scares, no more heatwave, no more social obligations, no nothing I just want to stay home, make stickers for my life blood aka patreons and write fanfiction in an air-conditioned space PLEASE

After sitting with my feelings about the apology, I have some thoughts. Because I wanted to forgive and forget, but I don't think I can. I think, at best, I can forgive, but I won't be able to forget. The leaving youtube video was very out of touch and it took too long to apologize and admit that they fucked up.

I don't think they intended to or wanted to apologize and backtrack. The apology video being 4 minutes long and released at the time it was today makes me believe two things:

1.) They saw the negative feedback and decided to ignore it and hope it would fade into the background. They had all day Friday to respond but didn't. And they could have responded at any time on Saturday or Sunday. Hell, the apology wasn't even ready to go this morning. Which is further proof that they really believed support would grow for the subscription service.

2.) When they got to their expensive ass LA office today they probably discussed this and realized that they royally fucked up. Other youtubers were making videos discussing how bad it was. Patreons were rightfully pissed. They were losing subscribers and followers left and right. And I think something sunk in, and they realized they could not wait for us to forget. We were not going to forget, and the number of subscribers to the watcher channel was probably extremely low. They had to do something before they ruined their entire company. This is why we got the apology video when we did today. It was short, too late, and feels like trying to placate us too much.

I will give them props that they did make the right choice by still allowing free content, by making it up to patreons, offering refunds, and admitting they fucked up. But I can't shake the feeling that they had zero intention of backtracking and saying sorry. It felt like they were playing a waiting game and lost horribly and now they are trying to save face.

They are doing now what should have been done in the beginning. And I'm curious to see how it will play out. But I will never give them a dime of my money. In the future that may change but I have no desire to waste the money I desperately need every penny of to survive on a group of people who were so quick to tell myself and other poor people to go fuck themselves. So I wish them the best but they best learn to manage their finances and live within their means.

After learning about the video game "CONTROL" and watching Julia LePetit-Drawfee play it, I have amended my views on brutalist architecture.

I used to think that brutalist architecture was a completely miserable and hideous style of architecture to expect human beings to exist in or around, with absolutely no acceptable applications.

But NOW I think that brutalist architecture is a completely miserable and hideous style of architecture to expect human beings to exist in or around, which is actually quite suitable for a visually striking video game about a living building that fucking hates you and is actively trying to kill you and everyone in it. ✅ ✅ ✅

I'm being silly but tbh anyone who disagrees with me can go ahead and spend 10 years commuting in the dingy gray concrete brutalist dimness of the DC metro system and then fucking get back to me.

Eddie tilts his head from where he was slouching on the couch, his mind still a bit hazy as he lets a yawn escape his lips. “I got it for you.” He says sleepily, adjusting his body so he was sitting up. “Huh?” Buck asks, looking over to Eddie with the bread bowl in his hands. 

“Well.. last time you ate my leftovers. And there was barely anything left.” Eddie explains with a shrug. “Figured I’d get you your own this time.” 

“Dude. I could kiss you right now.” Buck says excitedly, impatiently taking a bite of the cold mac and cheese before putting the rest in the microwave. 

“You could also chew with your mouth closed. But that’s two things that won’t be happening tonight." Eddie shoots back, and holy fuck was he flirting? That sounded very flirty. He wasn’t even into guys. So no, he wasn’t flirting. He was just snipping back at his roommate. Totally normal. Totally casual. Yup.

I appreciate the energy but strikes without planning and funding are like holding a gun to your head threatening to shoot and your boss going “ok do it.”

So, Canada has decided to stop sending arms to Israel after an NDP motion. The Liberals made major amendments to it so as to firmly condemn Hamas as well. It's kind of a mixed bag. Honestly, it's naive of me but I didn't expect there would still be so much outrage, even if the motion did call for an acknowledgement of Palestine as a state. All the Conservatives voted against it - to be fair, some of them wanted to wait for the motion to be passed because the amendments were super last minute and the Bloc Quebecois were annoyed that because of this there wasn't a French translation.

I guess it's a step in the right direction. I think it's still weak but you can read more on it here.
