lafontaine from the carmilla webseries was truly one of the most characters of all time. they're a mad scientist biologist. they're a good friend. they're simultaneously the most unhinged and the most chill member of their group. they got mind controlled by an ancient fish god. they did necromancy without telling anyone. they tried to kill god with a diy gun full of nanobots. they dissect things as a coping mechanism. their love interests include a victorian ghost-cyborg-vampire-zombie and a repressed normie. they're even nonbinary.

Chapter Thirteen is up.

Love’s Sacrifices: “The Thing in the Fog”

This chapter was gonna be longer, and also cover the baby shower I've been really looking forward to writing, but I was worried about over bloating this chapter. So instead I thought I'd focus on "The Fog" for now, as a mostly Beca focused chapter.

This “Fog of Worlds” is something I use in both this story, as well as Unlife is Strange, and that's not a coincidence. I have always considered Love's Sacrifices to be Unlife is Strange to be “sister” stories; with this “Fog” being explored in both.

I initially didn't want to directly connect the stories...but yeah that changed over time. About a year ago in fact.

As with previous chapters, this and the next will have more special cameos; this one being that it carries over to Unlife Is Strange - it won't significantly spoil what's to come, but it will give us a preview. Just something to look forward too.

Technically these cameos started in the last few chapters, with this mysterious “Rachel: contacting Beca, but you can probably guess she'll be...

Unlife is Strange will also give us a perspective flip of these chapters down the line, but I will try to keep the influence and interactions between stories has over this one at a minimum.

I wouldn't expect a full on crossover down the line. For now now these “visits” are just that.
