anyway the thing about the live action one piece is that it gave us two well dressed and dangerous vampire coded dudes in back to back episodes so therefore it is QUALITY media by the only metric that matters

hi. if i wanted to get into a xeno series which one do you recommend i should start with? i've also been thinking of starting a trails/kiseki series but which one of those fellas should i start with too?
RE: Xeno: there are three different 'arcs' in this series, each related to the other moreso in theming than continuous story\plots. But within each subset there is a definite play order.
There's Xenogears, a single ps1 game from 1998 with troubled development that was supposed to be (iirc) part five of six and spans 2 discs, with the second one famously consisting mostly of text dumps with very brief gameplay breaks. It's easily the most complex work in the series plot-wise, with much of its lore literally hidden away in an artbook. I can't say I regret trying to get into it, but it was very intimidating, and I have no idea why I even bothered to try and do it when I was, like, 16.
There's Xenosaga, a trilogy of games on the ps2. These games are my personal weak point (the only ones I haven't watched\played), which I do plan to eventually fix in the future, but for now, I guess I'll just mention that they exist. This series was also planned to have six episodes rather than three, but from what I was told, it managed to have an ending stretch far less abrupt than Gears.
And then there's Xenoblade, which is easily the most accessible both in the literal sense with the games available on the Switch and in the 'having a digestible plot' sense. It's also, naturally, the most popular part of the franchise and the easiest jumping in point. Technically you can play 1 and 2 in either order, but playing in the exact order (1 then 2) tends to have more impact when it comes to certain story beats. I believe you have to play both before touching 3, though, but I can't vouch for this, because I still haven't played 3 yet (haha, I'm a fraud /j)
Xenogears and the first Xenosaga game had soundtracks composed by Yasunori Mitsuda (of Chrono Trigger\Cross fame), and he also contributed to some extent to Xenoblade 1\2. I'm mentioning this because Mitsuda is my favorite video game composer because this might help spark your interest!
RE: Trails\Kiseki: thankfully, this is much more straightforward. Play in release order, and don't skip anything! (Trails in the Sky FC-SC-3rd, Trails from Zero-to Azure, Trails of Cold Steel I-IV, Trails into Reverie).
Some people tend to suggest you start with Cold Steel instead, because it has a stronger start than Sky FC and also has more modern conveniences, but doing that will make things more complex down the line, since Cold Steel III and onward assume you know what happened in all previous games, including Zero and Azure. Therefore, you would have to have a sudden change in style\look just two games in! I don't see the merit of doing this, unless you really can't stomach the slow burn that Sky offers.
There's also a spinoff called Nayuta: Endless Trails that's scheduled to have an official English release next year. It is (or at least, appears to be) related to the series in nothing but name, but it is a very fun game in its own right with a banger soundtrack to boot, though it plays nothing like the rest of the series, being an action RPG with sectioned-off stages rather than a turnbased RPG set in a hub town\continent. I still can't believe such a niche title is finally getting what it deserves! <3

Monkey D. Luffy - For staying alive.
Tumblr media
Warning : blood, death mention
Genre : angst-ish / fluff
Synopsis : "Male reader x LAOP Luffy, Reader getting hurt and luffy being worried" - Anon
Reader : male (he/you)
Tumblr media
You got hurt by Klahadore, also known as Kuro of a Hundred Plans, as you were trying to protect Kaya from him in her parents' bedroom, unaware of how fast and stealthy he could be.
He stabbed you with his gloved hand like it was nothing, before you could even do anything, the five blades sliding smoothly into your flesh. You coughed up blood as you fell to the floor, more blood seeping out of your wounds. You passed out shortly after.
When Luffy entered, the first thing he saw was you down, blood covering your chest and spilling on the wooden floor, and Kuro about to attack Kaya.
"Goodbye miss Kaya." Said Kuro, raising his right hand to strike, only for it to be grabbed by Luffy.
"These are my friends. You don't get to mess with them."
Kuro was fuming, he thought he had gotten rid of him !
"You're annoyingly resilient." He said calmly, replacing his glasses with the palm of his hand.
"Well, I am made of rubber." Luffy smiled.
Both men were confident in their victory. Each trusting their own abilities.
Although he didn't expect this level of stealth and rapidity, Luffy managed to throw Kuro through the window, sending him unconscious out of the house.
The first thing he did was gently grab you and place you on the nearest bed, while Nami asked Kaya to call for a doctor.
Kaya comes back, hands full of unused rolls of bandages.
"The doctor is on their way." She says.
"Is he gonna be okay ?" Luffy asks Nami.
She shakes her head as she shrugs. It looks really bad and she has no idea how you're still alive with five stab wounds in your stomach.
"I don't know, Luffy, he's in a really… bad shape. He should be dead."
Usopp helped Luffy wrap the bandages around you, their shaky hands holding you in a sitting position as more blood gushed out of your wounds. Usopp was breathing loudly while Luffy wanted to throw up at the sight of your blood coating his hands.
Luffy frowned at her words. No way you'd die ! You can't die. Not because he arrived too late ! No !
He wouldn't let it come to this. It couldn't. He couldn't lose you already. So soon after getting you to join his ship. He didn't care about anything at this moment but your health.
It was only the beginning of his adventures. He couldn't start it by losing someone so close and dear to him. Not now, not ever.
Once the bandages were put you were laying down again. Luffy wouldn't leave your side at all. He wanted to help you but he didn't know how to.
He softly stroked your head, petting your hair carefully as he eyed the dried blood under your lips. Fuck, this was bad. You looked so pale and you had lost so much blood.
His other hand rested on your stomach, where five red spots continued to grow despite the bandages.
His head snapped up when the doctor finally arrived, pulling away instinctively to give them some space to work. You were still unconscious as he began to work on your wounds, assessing the damage and closing them.
Luffy watched it all, hoping you'd wake up as soon as the doctor was finished but sadly you still needed lots of rest.
You woke up after a few hours, eyes puffy with Luffy's sleeping head resting on the mattress next to you. You tried to sit up, but you couldn't get yourself to move, your stomach too painful for you to do anything.
As you groaned in pain, Luffy woke up and tried to wrap his arms around you.
"[Name] ! I knew you'd wake up." He said, hugging you, his head resting on your chest as you still tried to process everything.
"And Klahadore ?" Your voice is weak and hoarse.
"Don't worry, [Name], I sent him flying." He says, finally looking at you as he smiles. He stares at you for a few seconds before resting his head once again against your chest.
"Thank you." He murmured.

The count is really weak. He killed probably thousands of people, brought misery over most of the servamps by reviving them and plotted for hundreds of years just to get one guy to like him by becoming the same being. And I think that guy would still hate him even if that plan worked.
Mahiru meanwhile tried to befriend the same guy, despite all their differences, for about three months and now that guy shares his philosophy and would probably rather die than see mahiru be harmed.
Maybe someone needs to tell the count that kuro and him are just not meant to be.

Wave 2 of Drawing with Kuro was a lot of fun - let's get ready for Wave 3!
Kuro's Commission Link: http://tinyurl.com/KuroComs
5YL Wiki Rules: http://tinyurl.com/5YLWikiRules
NOTES FROM KURO: 1. I document every and all commissions on a list for organization, and choose my Wave of lists from there. Commissions sent all the back in Wave 1 that weren't picked , are still documented and valid for Wave 3 and future Waves. There is no need to send the same commission twice. I promise you, I saw it and wrote it down whether or not I responded. I even frequently check my spam folder for them.
2. Please understand that I currently have hundreds of commissions on that list, so there's a chance I may never end up doing some. Sending a commission does not guarantee that it will be done eventually. I'm not planning on closing commissions any time soon, but when they do close, I doubt I will have been able to get through them all.
3. However, the order in which these commissions are sent has no effect on which ones I choose. I may choose a commission that was sent to me yesterday over one that was sent to me months ago, and vice versa.
4. Please do not ask me to discuss why I did/ didn't/ if I'm going to do your commission in public chats or on the livestream. I feel like that is inappropriate, and prompts others to do the same thing. Let's keep all logistics of the commissions within the emails, and if I haven't sent you an email, please wait until I do. I appreciate your patience.
Thank you! I am excited for Wave 3. Until then, Keep it Fizzy!
