The tall redhead continued to lean against the doorsill, raising one judgmental eyebrow at the general chaos of the room. Her eyes lingered on Harry’s form for a split second before she looked back at Riddle with amusement.
“Entertaining guests? I’m impressed. I didn’t think you had friends.”
Harry stepped forward to introduce himself, but Riddle’s warning glance stopped him in his tracks. Then Riddle’s eyes shifted back to the woman, and his expression deepened into a poisonous glare. “He works for me.”
Lily rolled her eyes, her long legs guiding her to a chair opposite of Riddle’s desk. “Oh, well, never mind then. Like father, like son.”

(the above four are part of one series, and were recommended to me by @racfoam - you have excellent taste by the way. love the way Lomona wrote them. i was giggling, blushing, and fanning myself the whole time, and very invested in the series. the healthy and realistic growth of Harry and Voldemort’s relationship and the way they begin to care for and trust in each other as the story progresses is something that I really liked. i also appreciated the fact that Harry did not have to completely change himself or turn “Dark” - no offense at all to such stories - but instead always stayed true to himself throughout the story, he was always who he was at his core, he was Harry, with a very large capacity to love and see the best in people, and to forgive. Another thing I loved was their mutual respect, and also the healthy way in which they compromise on things. looking forward to the next story in the series!)

I like numbers so here I am delving into my works again!

Overall stats for 2023!
User Subscriptions: 164
Kudos: 4,786
Comment Threads: 695
Bookmarks: 1,308

Word Count: 198,621
Hits: 30,820
That's an increase in everything except subscriptions, I had a good year. It was the year of many smaller fics, mostly, with just a few longfics.
I am particularly touched that user subscription count, that people want to stick around to see everything I wrote, especially as I broke into a new fandom this year and did some Original Work. Thank you all for coming along for the ride!
Fun Stats:
Fics Published: 31, including four on anon, for 198,621 words
Number of One-Shots: 28— I went pretty hard into exchange this year, and that encourages oneshots. I only wrote one multichapter for a bang, one for an event, and finished one ongoing from last year. Of all of those however only 2 were under a thousand words, so I did less sort of treats and drabbles than I did last year.
Number of Multi-Chapters: 3, 4 if you count the one that's still sitting at one chapter that I might continue someday. Ulp. Okay so the good news is all of those multichapters are finished, but the bad news is I still have multiple ongoings from the previous year that are just languishing. Did I mention I went hard into exchanges this year?
Number of Inspired Works: 3, two of which were because I participated in challenges where everybody writes a fic inspired by the one in front of them in the chain! And also Droid wrote me an excellent phandom shubbleandwilbur fic. :D
Longest Fic: Freaking Out In The Middle Of The Street (With The Complete Conviction Of Someone Who Has Never Had Anything Actually Really Bad Happen To Them) (28,369 words), my silly worldbuilding nonsense multichapter, but I started that one the year before, so if we only consider the ones I did entirely this year that would be my bang fic, A Hundred Things You Have Not Dreamed Of (27,743 words). I had a lot of fun with dehumanized human weapon recovery with that one.
Shortest Fic: Taking A Break (335 words), basically an overgrown drabble that I wrote on tumblr when people were challenging me to write anything as a QPR. Soley put on tumblr to help boost up a relationship tag (misskristin/missa/philza).
Most Kudosed Fic: Twenty Minutes After The Family Dynamic is Forcibly Assigned By The Government , at a staggering 568 kudos for a fic that isn't even a thousand words, which is just proof that if you write something while the kettle boils at the exact moment that a fandom is exploding and it makes it to the top of the tag, it can stay up there for a while. However, 1,528 of that is from last year, so really the hits for this year are only 2,101, so my top hits is A Hundred Things You Have Not Dreamed Of , 2,990 hits. and that is 100% the power of being a daily-updating multi-chapter, the hits on that one exploded for that reason. But the hits on multichapters are always higher.
Most Subscribed Fic: Freaking Out In The Middle Of The Street (With The Complete Conviction Of Someone Who Has Never Had Anything Actually Really Bad Happen To Them) again! 87 Subscriptions! But a full 76 of them are from last year, so we're back at A Hundred Things You Have Not Dreamed Of, with 49 subs.

Enhance AO3
Just wanted to share some scripts I use to improve my AO3 experience :)
1. AO3 Enhancements Extension
Available on Chrome & Firefox, this extension can:
- Track works you’ve kudosed, bookmarked, and subscribed to.
- Show an estimated reading time based on your WPM
- Hide works with too many fandoms
- Show works only in your language(s)
- Hide works from certain authors
- Decrease story width (I use this all the time. It’s great.)
- Show a Kudos/Hit ratio
- Show word count per chapter
2. User Scripts
Note: These only work on PC because you have to install the Tampermonkey extension to use these.
AO3: Kudosed and seen history - Easily keep track of which fics you’ve kudosed, bookmarked, or seen. You can even skip/hide fics!
Character Appearance Count - Counts how many times characters (or any other specified phrase) shows up in a fic.
AO3 Savior - Hide works by tag, author, words in title, or words in the summary. Also includes a whitelist for tags.
AO3 Savior Config - Necessary companion to prev.
Ao3 Only Show Primary Pairing - Set your favorite character and relationship tags. If they aren’t listed in x (number you specify) tags then the fic is hidden. Lifesaver if you only like reading certain characters/ships.
ao3 menu items - Adds extra links to the dropdown under your profile pic.
AO3: highlight tags - This is my favorite one. Immediately see tags you love (or hate) by coloring them. I cannot describe to you how helpful this one is.
AO3: Page Count - I like to use this one just for funsies. It tells you how many pages a fic is.
AO3: Tag Word Cloud - Change font size of words of AO3 tags according to the word frequency in each chapter or entire works.
AO3 author+tags quick-search - Adds quick links from AO3 fics to more fics by the same author in the same fandom/character/pairing/any other tag.
ao3 series collapser - Collapses works that aren’t part 1 of a series.
AO3: Links for Entire Works - Add links to next and previous chapter when viewing Entire Work on AO3.

Let’s All Go to the Movies! In a couple of months that fic will be a year old and I still find myself not shutting up about it and reminding my mutuals I wrote that story. And surprisingly, I wanna write a sequel for that one so hopefully I can get started on that some time this year

These are all wonderful, but I think I’ll go with fic comments. Kudoses are great of course, but there’s something special about someone taking time out of their day to let you know that they liked your work and it’s even more special when they’re specific

I saw @antimony-medusa doing ao3 stats, and since I have not made very many og posts on this blog after making a new multifandom blog, I'm using this as a opportunity to update everyone here on what I posted this year to ao3 :)
I'm going to be blatantly ripping off Medusa's format for this.
Overall stats for 2023
--User Subscriptions: 119
--Kudos: 5,606
--Comment Threads: 306
--Bookmarks: 1,618
--Subscriptions: 846
--Word Count: 174,435
--Hits: 64,821
Everything is almost the same, except for a decrease in kudos. That makes perfect sense since I wrote a couple of rarepairs in fandoms that are less hyped about multishipping.
My user subscriptions have basically stayed the same since I started posting, likely because I organize fics down into different series so that people can sub to those instead.
Fun Stats:
Total number of fics published: 40
This was my most prolific year of fic writing! For reference, my total number of fics posted EVER is 53. I wrote a lot of short fics as treats for two different extreme timed challenge exchanges. I also got into several new fandoms this year.
Number of One-shots: 24
There's the exchange fics coming in clutch! And also the bushel of smutshots (oneshots that are pwp) that I wrote for new fandoms I got into and got very excited about writing smut for.
Number of Multichapters (Including WIPs): 14
Some oneshots become twoshots. Some multichapters had planned chapter counts and many did not.
Number of WIPs (aka unfinished works): 4
Of these, one is the most recent fic I have posted, which is being actively written and updated. One is being co-written with someone else. And the others are one hiatus.
Number of Inspired Works: 1
My total number of inspired works ever is 2. Fortunately or unfortunately, I have plenty of ideas to work with on my own.
Longest Fic: Stealing Candelabras (10,797).
Most of my works this year were under 10k, and a lot of them were even under 1k. I started the year short and ended it long. And I anticipate writing much more longfic this year. This one was long because I love vampires and making up vampire lore.
Shortest Fic: shifting eyes and vacancy, vanished when i saw your face (476). A very cute prompt that I had to fill. Title courtesy of my partner's suggestion, since they love the song so much :)
Most Kudosed fic: On the Twelfth Day of Christmas My Twin Sons Gave to Me: The Child Spy of My Enemy (586).
:/ Ah yes the last vesitges of my Dark SBI era. Not my favorite thing I've written, but it has it's audience.
The second most kudosed is The Care and Keeping of Your Vash (406). I love you trigun fandom <3
Most Viewed Fic: Same as most kudosed! But those stats do build up over time so I'm gonna highlight my fifth most view fic that was only posted a couple months ago as opposed to almost a year ago: When I'm On the Throne it's a Total Freak Zone (3,366). My second foray into exploring a character being a soft dom.
Most Subscribed Fic: Same as the most kudosed and most viewed. To be fair it had the format of the twelve day countdown to Christmas, so it hooked people into sticking around.
Most Bookmarked Fic: Same one again. My second most bookmarked was Shot Through the Heart, and You're to Blame (110). Arguably my best trigun fic, I love writing monsterfucker porn, especially as part of a larger canon divergent au. Double points for also getting to write a trans headcanon.
Most Used Fandom: Dream SMP, at 13. But if you combine all the fics for books by the same author (MXTX), it comes out to 12, which is pretty close!
Least Used Fandom: There's a couple I've only written one work for so...
1. Big Dragon the Series. This is a tiny fandom for a BL drama that I am co-writing a fic for. If you go searching for this show MIND THE WARNINGS. It is very intense from episode one so proceed with caution.
2. SMP Earth. I wish I got into this fandom when it was more popular, Now I don't know where to find the stream archives to get into the lore :(
3. Supernatural. I came back to this fandom this year only to post a trans character study of Dean and then leave it again lol.
Most Used Rating: E, 15 fics.
Like I said, I wrote a lot of smutshots lol. Second place is Teen, at 11 fics.
Least Used Rating: Mature, 0. Alternatively, Gen, at 9.
None of my fics are rated Mature this year because I discovered the wonders of smut and I can no longer do things by halves.
Most Written Relationship: Still SBI, but Quackbur is a close second.
Most Used Additional tag: I can't be bothered to look through all of this year's fics right now, but for the E rated ones I'm 90% sure it's Biting. As I've been quoted saying "biting is sexy!"
Most Frequently Used Characters: Again, SBI wins out. Though I think of all of them I have more fics with Techno than the others. (Again, too lazy to look through 40 fics right now lol).
Hopefully this was fun for someone else, because it certainly was illuminating for me. I'm much more active on my @cosmic-starfall blog nowadays but I'm still doing mcyt stuff occasionally here as well :)

OKAY, SAPPY POST INCOMING.
As I'm readying my latest chapter on tpatd for updating, I realized that my story finally reaches the 100,000 wordcount, a number I never believed I'd manage... It's a lot for every writer, and even more so for me who hasn't attempted to write fiction before, and even my academic papers were a bit smaller than this monster I work on for almost a year now...
I'm not the most confident person alive, and in order to give something to the world, whether it's singing or work, I have to be 100% certain that I'm actually good at it.
I was not at all certain I'd had something good to give away concerning my writing abilities, a reason why I deleted my fic the first time I posted it. But the amount of enjoyment I received from it slowly made me face and fight my insecurities and impostor syndrome and carry on. It wasn't easy and it isn't until today; you'll always search for more validation even if you claim that you write only for your own enjoyment.
Well, one thing I know is that I write both for myself and for all those wonderful individuals, who have clicked on my fic, read only a few sentences, one or two chapters, or read it whole, kudosed, subscribed, bookmarked, and commented on it. I'm forever grateful for each and every one of them and believe me when I say it, I treasure everything, even the slightest hit! So, thank you all from the bottom of my heart! 🥰

9. How do you find new fic to read?
So many ways!
Recs! I follow a bunch of people that boost fic posts and some people that do whole awesome lists. @gffa does epic Star Wars fic recs. @cacchieressa & @cactusspatz do great multifandom monthly rec lists. Also I'm on DW and there are some great rec comms there. Shout out to my beloved stargateficrec comm which has been going strong since 2004.
Find a fic that I love. Go see what else the author has written and then look through all their public bookmarks. Repeat cycle.
Subscribe to favorite authors. I'm subscribed to a ton of authors on AO3. I probably get at least a couple new fic alerts every week.
When I want something really specific, I'll use a character or pairing tag on AO3 and sort by kudos. Then I'll also use the date filters to look for top kudosed fics in the past like 6 months so I don't miss awesome newer stuff. I was just shaking the Tim Drake tag like this and will be posting a rec list of my latest faves :)
14. Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer?
I feel like the answer should be yes but I can't think of any.. I will sometimes skip fics by my fave writers based on tags and I will sometimes read things by authors I don't know at all with tags that I'm like ehhhh. My whims are varied.

Which stat matters most to you (if at all!): subscriptions, kudos/favorites, comments, bookmarks, word count, or hits?
hmmm... kudos is probably the stat that i notice first! comments are what are actually most important to me, but that's mostly qualitative rather than quantitative (so i care about what they say more than the stat, if that makes sense, though i do like having more of them!) bookmarks are also nice and it amuses me to see the discrepancy between the public bookmarks count and the count on my statistics page (which includes private bookmarks), lol
subscriptions doesn't mean much to me because 95% of my works are one-shots and so if 18 people subscribe to a fic marked "complete" i'm just kinda like lol wyd
hits don't mean much to me because they could mean someone read my fic 5 times or that they opened it in a new tab and then never read it.
wordcount is more of a personal goal type of thing, and i always feel pleased when i write something longer than 2k... and slightly baffled when some of my shortest (under 1k) fics are some of my most popular ever (including my #1 kudosed fic right now, lol)

Got the Posting Anxiety so I am inventing new ratios upon which to judge my own fic. And it is working so I share them here:
subscriptions/kudos: 99/172= .576 This means, assuming most people who subscribed also kudosed, more than half of people who liked my fic enough to kudos also liked it enough to subscribe
bookmarks/kudos: 64/172= .372 And more than a third who kudosed also bookmarked!
and finally—
private bookmarks/all bookmarks: 37/64= .578 The majority of people do NOT wanna anyone to know they bookmarked my fic lol.
My takeaways:
—people who like my fic REALLY like my fic
—fuck ratios involving hits. Do not even worry about them.
—These are big numbers I'm working with, actually.
—follow-up to above: Given how hungry I still am for comments/kudos/bookmarks etc, there probably is no number at which that hunger is satisfied, is there?

Suggestions/Requests for Ao3
I want to be able to leave multiple kudos. Not like all the time, but when you have a WIP you are reading and you get the notification that a new chapter posted and you go read it and it’s as awesome as the last 12 chapters, I want to be able to do a one touch ❤️ or something. Like a chapter level thumbs up along with the story level kudos.
And speaking of Kudos, can we get like a check mark or something to indicate that you have read and kudosed a story somewhere. Like before I read the 50k fic and try and kudos and that stupid red banner pops up:
Cuz - like:
I would like to be able to sort or filter my “Marked for Later” page. Like, it took me 5 years to learn about the nifty thing but now I have 20 pages of stories I have marked for later in at least 10 fandoms and I need to be able to sort. Like I know I have a 500k word HP fic that has been saved since 2016 that I haven’t got around to yet, but I would have to dig through 17 pages to find it. And I will 100% get distracted by one of the 72 fics in front it. Like let me sort by fandom at least. Filter out the 27 WangXian fics and 13 KinnPorsche fics to get to the 5 Drarry fics.
Can I have a bookshelf? Like I know there are bookmarks, but I just want an easy way to say “Hey! I finished this one. And it was good! And I might want to read it again. But I don’t need it in my feeds.” Something simple like the Mark for Later button. Just a quick button that says “Completed” or “Bookshelf” and it goes to this nice little out of the way place where you can go and peruse old favorites. Once I discovered the joy of the subscribe button this is basically what I use the bookmark option for, but I always feel a little pressure about the bookmark button because it makes me feel like I have to add tags and commentary about the story I just saved. And it bothers me that it’s called a “bookmark”, bookmarks are for things you haven’t finished. Not completed works.
*Anyway, I say all of this with the full knowledge and intent to continue to use the site like it is my own personal candy story. 🤷🏻♀️💖🥰

A bit THANK YOU to everyone who's read, left a kudosed, commented, subscribed and bookmarked my biggest fic, The Twins, The Triangle And The Magic!
It's been an honour to write for you all, and I'm so excited for the times ahead! You have all inspired me just by coming along and reading, and for those who left extra things, I am eternally grateful, they've helped me through some rough patches.
I know it's being rewritten, and we've only gotten to the third book, but the next chapter of our exciting adventures has just begun!
I started this fic off without a plan at all, and I want to thank everyone who's helped build this timeline with me, with or without realising.
A massive thank you to @emperorofthebananaboat to helping me significantly with, especially with the "what if?" Scenarios via the discord server and the books comments, you've helped to impact the stories more than one way.
I made a oneshot to commemorate the moment but unfortunately I have work to attend to today and don't have access to the draft I've written.
I'll post it the moment I get back home! It's a nice little look into the future of the fic itself.

That’s an increase from last year on every metric, which is not entirely surprising considered that I’m more established and that I wrote starting in January, not May.
I am particularly honoured by that user subscription stat, and delighted by the word count. I had several months in there when writing was Very Difficult for various reasons, and some where I didn’t write at all, so very pleased to make it that high.
