garak would never judge julian for having an emotional support teddy bear because when garak was fifteen he had an emotional support pet lizard (which he named after his mum despite it being a boy lizard. still not over that) and talking to it like a crazy person was loadbearing to his sanity. Where are all the fics where Garak is still an Obsidian Order spy and is fulfilling the narrative function of Honey Bear, Julian is working with Starfleet Intelligence as basically James Bond, and Tain is Hippocrates Noah?

Where are the fics where Julian is strapped to a Cardassian torture device and has to seduce Garak into letting him escape, which Garak 100% would because he canonically (I accept it as canon!!!) spared prisoners all the time during his career and he canonically (we've decided this!!!!) is weak to Bashir's fuckboy charms?

Where are all the fics where Garak (Honey) and Julian (Bond) fall in love as enemy agents on Romulus or Bajor or an obscure secret space station hidden inside a moon while a little LED screen on a giant laser ticks down to 0?

I feel like I've read a fic that did this, but I can't put my finger on it - but we absolutely need more Garashir fic where Julian uses the cheesy-ass, sleazy-ass pick-up lines like he did in "Our Man Bashir" but on Garak, and exactly what we all know will happen happens: Garak responds not with rolling his eyes but melting into a puddle of love and happiness and *50 heart-eyes emojis*

I just want to remind everyone of this extremely powerful scene from In Purgatory’s Shadow/By Inferno’s Light from season 5 of ds9.

This is one of the most accurate depictions of a panic attack I’ve ever seen in a tv show. Andy Robinson went above and beyond here. He depicted it perfectly. That choking panic that rises in your throat and steals your breath, while your mind screams at you. The fear in his voice as he talks to try and ground himself.

The sheer strength and fear and dread of Garak, as he prepares to go back in, knowing what awaits him. That choking cloying panic, your mind and body betraying you…

I read somewhere that Andy Robinson is himself claustrophobic. I wonder how much of himself he poured out into these scenes.

It’s powerful because it’s real. People go through this every day of their lives. And seeing a scene like this, it reminds us we are not alone, that there are others who suffer like this too.

I can’t stop thinking about this scene from Profit and Loss, and what it implies. For anyone who doesn’t recall, Quark is making sure that various objects in his vicinity are not Odo. He slaps the table. He examines the chairs. And he DIPS HIS FINGER INTO A MUG AND TASTES THE LIQUID. After which he is satisfied that Odo isn’t around.

It’s a little throwaway scene but it rocks my world, because it implies not only that Odo has a specific flavor that he cannot change - which makes *flavor* Odo’s sole immutable quality - but also that QUARK KNOWS WHAT ODO TASTES LIKE. I want to know so much more about this. I want to know how many times Quark has tasted Odo. I want to know how it happened the first time. I want to know if Quark ever drank an entire glass of Odo, and if so, whether he figured it out in time and was able to induce vomiting, or if he didn’t and Odo suffered indignities we cannot even fathom. I want to know if Odo knows he has a flavor, and that Quark can recognize it, or if that’s a secret Quark keeps from him for his own advantage. I want to know everything about this because this is the weirdest aspect of an already totally insane relationship dynamic. I cannot handle how messed up Deep Space 9 is.

(it's so dark but also so funny that when tain keeps on Hinting Ominously, garak's reaction seems... slightly exasperated? more than anything, under all the tension fsdjafsl. this exact conversation has definitely happened multiple times over the last thirty years, lending horror an edge of 'oh this again huh' ennui and hilarity. 'I should have killed your mother before you were born'/'so you've told me, many times'. I think it's the turnaround time from 'I've missed you, Elim' to this that drives it from straightforward psychological horror sneaking dread to still that but also kind of hilarious. it really took tain less than five minutes to go there didn't it. wow. well, actually. I think maybe the real horror part is that garak still loves him and doesn't know how to stop. somewhere in there is a five year old whose heart is a desperate stupid little moth and his father is a ruinous forest fire in the night, brighter and closer than any star. of course it burns you to touch it that's just what love is, right. *spots a smiling julian bashir in the loading bay holding a box of chocolates out of the corner of his mind and experiences something harrowing and existential he simply cannot unpack right in this moment thank you* right???)
