We don't know if Julius married and had children (perhaps he doesn't becuase of amnesia) but that might be two possibilities of the younger generation of Belmont clan:
1) He had a relationship with a woman from Belnades clan in 1997-1999. After the Demon Castle War, she was pregnant with his chind and Genya Arikado and Belnades clan memebers came to support her and the child (that child turned to be a son named.)
2) He has a younger half sister (some people would point out about Kokoro Belmont from Otomedius Excellent, but I would go with mu OC and I named her Corina Belmont) and in 2017 or 2018 she has a child with unknown man (in that case would be girl).

MERFOLK KOBYLU!!!!
Tumblr media
These goobers are so silly to me || credit for the luffy chibi and his design to my buddy @booburt
ok so like what ive been thinking for this au is luffy is still kinda a pirate who wrecks ships from underwater and robs them and one of those ships is alvidas, who has been keeping this little fishman boy as a slave. he is NOT vibing with that so he beats the shit out of her. koby tells him how he wants to be a marine both to help people and to bring humans and fishmen closer together, lucky for him luffys (heavily human passing think like old lady kokoro) grandpa is high in the marines and has been really salty about wanting a marine sucsessor. thats how koby joins the navy and luffy keeps on ship wrecking (maybe collecting a human crew who he sets sail with) i feel like he would be freakishly good at manovering at land somehow
Koby doesn't really have a specific species, though one of my friends looked at him an screamed shark
Luffy is a Koi fish (the calico cats of water)
As always Asks are welcomed
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Au totally wasn't spawned by me making a bad joke about koby and luffy finding out luffy has seahorse Fishman blood somewhere in his family tree because he got pregnant…

Missing Time Pt.2
××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
Here it is yall, the very unexpectedly highly requested soft part 2 to this request i got.
How do you think Sebastian would react after getting released/escaping Azkaban and finding out MC was pregnant when he got sent away?
Warings: none. It's pretty fluffy.
Obvious implied Sebastian x MC
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been roughly a little over 2 weeks since Sebastian decided to try to be a part of his daughter, MC, and Ominis' little life. But he still couldn't muster to walk up the steps and knock on the door. He was scared they wouldn't want him. That they would be frightened of him. That they wouldn't forgive him for what he'd done.
So he took every fleeting moment possible to talk to his daughter in secret. He knew he should teach her better than to talk to strangers, but he wasn't just some stranger or old family friend. Of course, she didn't know that just yet.
He found himself afraid to tell her, terrified that she would be disappointed this was the father she had been waiting for her whole life. He felt unworthy. That she deserved better than him, despite how desperately he wanted to be that father for her.
So, instead of telling her the truth, he decided to just be her friend. Have little chats with her, still under the guise of being a 'family friend', which wasn't exactly a lie. He just didn't tell her he was technically a part of said family.
He knew how wrong that seemed, but this was his daughter. He had the right to get to know her, and he wasn't ready to insert himself into their lives completely. Not just yet.
Today was different from the rest. Today, little Anne found him while he was sitting at the edge of a dock near their home. It was just far enough away, so he didn't seem suspicious.
"Hey! Im so glad i found you!" She grinned, running up to him
He chuckled "found me?"
"Yes! I've been looking for you all over!" She beamed excitedly."I have something for you"
"What? For me?" He smiled at her softly
"Yeah, it's just a little something I made," she said timidly. "I really hope you like it"
Sebastian watched as she pulled a little ring out of her pocket. She smiled at it fondly and held it out to him. He took it from her with gentle hands.
Upon inspection, he saw that it was beautifully handcrafted with vines and branches. They all swirled around each other so intricately, so perfectly. He was astounded by how well it was made. She was already so talented, and his heart absolutely swelled.
"You.. made this? For me?" Tears pricked and the corners of his eyes, but he quickly blinked them away. Not wanting to have to explain why this was making him so emotional.
"Well, I was out exploring, and I saw some pretty green branches, and for some reason, it made me think of you." she smiled at him warmly, "and then I had this idea to -"
"Anne?! Anne, where are you?"
Sebastian heard a familiar panicked voice cut their conversation short.
He completely froze. Not daring to move and inch as a wave of fear washed over him
"Anne Sallow, where did you run off to?!"
His heart skipped a beat, and he finally turned to look at the source of the voice. Anne Sallow. She gave her his last name.
"There you are! How many times have I told you not to -"
They finally noticed his presence, turning towards him with an unsure look. It was as if they were deciding whether or not it was actually him.
"Sebastian..?"
Sebastian took a moment to gather himself. Going over the words he'd practiced a million times in his head. But none of those words came out. All that did was a simple
"Hello, Ominis."
Hi!! Neil Gaiman just answered my question if Anna and Georgia are in GO and the answer is NO. Anna was pregnant and Georgia was offered a part but turned it down for….. reasons? Unknown to us other than that she believed the part should go to someone older and more experienced? Wonder what part she’s been offered and what her character could’ve been. Also, if there was a hypothetical season 3 we have to be worried if they’ll be cast in it now. Cause he said that they’ll definitely get a part somewhere in the show
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow, okay...my inbox has been blowing up since Neil's post earlier. Well, for those who haven't gotten to see it, @yami-no-kokoro helpfully posted a screencap above, and it seems that Georgia and Anna will not be appearing in GO season 2...but I'm not entirely sure I buy the explanations as to why.
The first thing that struck me was that Neil actually answered this question at all, instead of "wait and see"-ing it as he has done with seemingly every other GO 2-related question. I also noticed that Neil specifically mentioned that Georgia was offered a part, but AL was not. I'm sure there was a reason for it being phrased that way, but had AL been offered a part, it would've been very easy and made sense to say that there.
As for the explanation of her being pregnant and avoiding people because of Covid, we know and have evidence that this is not really true, as AL was in Scotland during filming with Lyra, and was photographed in a restaurant in Glasgow eating with Michael and Jon Hamm. Also, Michael was on set every day with countless people and then with her, so anything he would've been exposed to, she would have been as well. Logically, then, it seems like she was not taking stringent precautions against Covid, because had that been the case, she would have stayed in Wales instead of following Michael to Scotland for six months for a film shoot while pregnant during a pandemic. So to me, that makes Neil's response seem like a PR one, for the sake of glossing over the fact that AL was not offered a part.
In terms of Georgia...again, the explanation given is a curious one. My feeling is that Neil was softening up the truth, which I am guessing is that Georgia was offered the part, looked it up online, found out the person she was asked to play was older than her, got pissed off, and declined the offer. As you said, Anon #1, there don't seem to be many reasons that Georgia would turn down a role or any opportunity to further her career, so had the part been a more glamorous or attention-grabbing one, she probably would have accepted it without hesitation. I do not at all buy for a second that this had anything to do with Georgia pushing for "age appropriate" casting, except in the sense of "I'm too young to play this part and how dare you even ask, go cast some old hag instead." But again, that translated into another PR response (and a nicely finessed one, which is not at all surprising since Neil is a talented writer) that does indeed reflect well on Georgia.
I know tonight was the BAFTAs, so I'll just touch on that briefly, but Anon #2, it seems that Georgia was there at the event, but just not on the red carpet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right away, I have to say I'm confused by "I find it all too much" and am not even sure what that means. Earlier in the day, Georgia posted a picture of herself breastfeeding Birdie and hashtagged it #mybaftalook, but it didn't seem to get a lot of traction, as all I saw on Twitter and elsewhere was pictures of David (and Catherine, and Billie) at the BAFTAs. So I don't really know what was going on here, but her entire vibe today just seemed so weird overall. Why would she not want a picture with David on the red carpet? Was she not invited to walk the red carpet? I don't think we'll ever know for sure, but putting out the narrative of "I find it all too much" just seems disingenuous, especially since she was on the red carpet with David only recently at the Olivier Awards. (EDIT: What I wrote here was based on a misinterpretation of Georgia's post that was very different to how other people read it. I have attempted to clarify my thoughts here.)
Going back to GO 2, though, I did see some of the comments that you mentioned, Anon #3, and I find it interesting that people want to categorize specific blogs as "haters" or "anti-Georgia/Anna" when a) More often than not, it seems like I end up saying out loud what others are thinking, but by no means am I the only one thinking it--especially if the results of the recent poll about GT/AL being in season 2 are any indication; and b) I do not categorize myself as anti-Georgia/Anna, but rather anti-the mentality that they are somehow above reproach or criticism simply because of who their partners are.
I have never and will never tell anyone that they shouldn't like Georgia or Anna. If you are a fan of theirs, then by all means, be a fan. Nobody is all bad (or all good, for that matter), and if you like them, that is completely your prerogative, and go ahead and have a gay old time. But I will not be quiet about the things I've seen from Georgia and AL that discomfit me, nor put up with a narrative that I feel is phony. And I think that right there is the nuance that seems to be getting missed--that what I have a problem with and dislike is Georgia and AL's actions/things they've said, rather than just them as people. I think if folks looked at it that way, it might also help them view Georgia and AL as their own person instead of "David's wife"/"Michael's girlfriend" and would enable us to better have these discussions.
If what Neil said is, in fact, true, I do feel relieved to know that Georgia and AL are not in GO 2. To me, GO is something incredibly special, and Georgia and AL just do not "fit" in that world, and them being in the show would have had a detrimental effect on the illusion/magic of the GO universe. I think the analogy that best explains this is Mary Martin as Peter Pan on TV in the 1950s. In the scene where Peter flies, the actor is put in a harness/on wires to give the appearance of flight. It's the illusion that enthralls us, that immerses us in that sense of magic, and in that moment--even just briefly--you don't see the wires and start to believe that human beings can fly. Season 1 of GO and the incredible chemistry between Michael and David created that same sense of magic and wonder in so many of us....but having Georgia and AL in it would be like seeing the wires.
As for a possible season 3, there's about a thousand different factors that will determine if there even is a season 3, let alone if Neil will cast them or even have parts for them to play. We saw how long it took between seasons 1 and 2 of GO (though Covid was obviously a large part of that), but if that is any indication of how long it could be until season 3, a lot of things can change in a few years' time, so who knows what will happen.
So, those are my thoughts on today's developments (and of course this had to happen on Mother's Day, of all days). Hopefully we'll have more GO 2 stuff to talk about in the coming weeks...
Gensokyo Festival Day 1 - Eastern Story
Text: “Genjii, my stepson, I’m pregnant.”
Kokoro is reading Genji Monogatari, a quintessential Eastern story and arguably the world’s first novel, in order to make a theatrical adaptation of it. The plot is getting quite strange for her.
This year, I’m wanting to slip in some drawings to make and scan on company time. I’m working out the kinks on making them high-resolution. First step, get them sharp enough for them to be legible. Wish me luck.
L’aventure de Canmom à Annecy - Mardi
or, the real Annecy starts here.
Tuesday was nuts! I saw so much stuff. I have cracked the code.
So, if you wanna know what Annecy is like, I can’t possibly present it better than La Cachette, who made this sponsor intro that plays before every movie...
youtube
Imagine everyone shouts “lapin!!!” when the rabbit appears and also when the rabbit gets eaten by the T. rex. But yeah: the sudden rainfall, the paper planes flying around, pop pop pop.
Anyway, Tuesday was crazy, I saw so many great movies, with some real surprises too! I wrote about them all below~
It’s interesting to think about like. Annecy traditions are this sort of free floating wave. The cohort of people who go to Annecy each year is constantly rotating (as different students graduate etc.) but there’s enough overlap to pass on these traditions, much like at schools with the ‘cool S’ and paper fortune tellers and other parts of, you could say, ‘child culture’.
Anyway, the day began with an expensive hotel breakfast (food is so expensive in Annecy) followed by queuing up for another crack at The Concierge...
Tumblr media
Despite arriving around 2 hours early, we never stood a chance. Also it started raining. I did nevertheless manage to draw the queue in front of me, but it was very rough.
Failing to get in to that, my friend decided to queue for Lonely Castle in the Mirror while I went off to the VR hall again to make some early registrations. This time I watched I Took A Lethal Dose of Herbs by Yvette Granata from the USA.
Tumblr media
This one was made in Unity (I could tell because it didn’t load properly at first and I was clipped into the floor and saw the default Unity skybox lmao) running on a Quest 2 via Quest Link. It puts you in the body of an anti-abortion activist who goes through post-partum psychosis and then, becoming pregnant again, attempts suicide, before finally accepting an abortion.
The presentation is essentially a non-interactive VR horror game. At one point your legs get eaten by hallucinations of demon babies; another part sees a room gradually transform into a deep-dreamed variant. As a horror film, it was kinda neat. The credits announced “based on a true Reddit story” which kind of knocked me flat lmao. It was entertaining, but I don’t think it really hit the impact intended.
Tumblr media
After that, with bookings locked in for two more VR films, I scooted back to join my friend in the queue for Lonely Castle in the Mirror directed by Keiichi Hara, who I wrote about a bit back on Animation Night 137. This time Hara has A1 Pictures rather than mighty Production I.G. behind him, but it’s still absolutely a nicely drawn movie; the composite is more restrained than the above image might make you think.
This turned out to be a screening with only French subtitles, so I got some unexpected Japanese listening practice. I definitely didn’t pick up every detail, but between the visuals, the Japanese audio and the subs I was pretty much able to follow the plot. And a good plot it was! An assortment of teenagers are transported each month through mirrors into a mysterious castle, overseen by a girl in a wolf mask, which provides them all a refuge from their various difficulties at home.
Our viewpoint character is a shy girl who has gone hikikomori after bullying by a group of schoolgirls, and is hurting from the lost connection to another girl. As the story unfolds, we learn more about what happened to her and the other characters; meanwhile the kids hang out in the castle, gradually forming connections.
The castle is like... well diegetically there’s no question it exists, but it’s the kind of magical thing that reflects the character’s emotional struggle. The climax of the film involves a wolf stalking the castle and devouring the children, which is basically a suicide metaphor, and Kokoro going into the castle to attempt to save everyone.
Even with French subs, I ended up enjoying this movie a lot.
Following this my brother came into town on his way to Portugal for a family holiday next week. I met up with him and we had some tasty noodles. We split up again, him going to check out some of the old buildings of Annecy, me going back to the VR room...
where I discovered that if an Annecy juror shows up to watch a VR film, your slot gets cancelled, so I didn’t get to see From The Main Square. But I did get to see Shadow by David Adler and Ole Bornedal from Denmark and the UK.
Tumblr media
This one turned out to be really fucking good. It’s an incredibly intense semi-interactive movie in which you play the part of a bomber navigator on a morning raid. Your job is to confirm the target so the pilot can blow it up, but with the fog, the sea, the movement of the plane and battle outside, it’s a lot easier said than done.
This film does a fantastic job of building tension in the runup to the attack. The interactions between your character and the pilot are acted very well, and the sea and mist outside - rendered in Unreal - is properly sketchy to fly through. You confirm the target by using head tracking to look at a yes/no input, and I was fully caught up in trying to make sure we hit the right building and didn’t get shot. Such a tense film, and honestly kind of a vindication of the VR format. I hope there’s something else as good in there.
Following this I scooted over to see the short films collection 4. This turned out to be a great choice: there were very few misses and a lot of plain great films. Also I guess this was like where they put all the gore and nudity lmao, but who knows, I’ll have to see other short film selections.
Haljina za finale dir. Martina Mestrovic presented a sweet picture of the day in an old lady’s life, in which she dyes her dress black and reminisces about the past.
Tumblr media
Salvation Has No Name dir. Joseph Wallace was a really cool stop-motion film, making really creative use of old woodcuts along with its puppets, about a refugee who washes up on the shore of a paranoid village and a prevaricating priest who tries to protect her, tries to have sex with her, and takes her newborn child and pushes her away; it’s all presented by a circus troupe who are also the villagers attempting to cover their ass for what they did. There’s some really neat devices of presentation - e.g. the refugee woman speaks English same as the villagers, but diegetically they’re speaking different languages. The metaphors are pretty on the nose, but it’s really nicely shot and tense.
L’Ombre des Papillons dir. Sofia El Khyari is a more abstract one, a very beautifully painted erotic dream with a lot of morphing and transformations (particularly things turning into butterflies). Really nice use of texture in this one.
Tumblr media
Wild Summon dir. Saul Freed and Karni Arieli is where things got really nuts. This is like. The most photorealistic hard vore guro film I’ve ever seen lmao. So like the idea is it’s like, a nature documentary on the life cycle of salmon, with all the beautiful shots of landscapes and rivers you’d expect, but with the twist that all the salmon are anthropomorphised to humans in wetsuits and masks (as you see above). These anthro salmon then die horribly in all the ways salmon tend to, at the hands of both animals and humans.
Our main character is a salmon who gets tagged with a tracker by some scientists; this allows her to be thrown back in the water when caught by a fishing trawler for example. The voiceover is by Marianne Faithfull doing an effective old posh british lady voice (I sorta wondered if it was Judy Dench). If this was an actual nature documentary it would be a really beautiful one, but the anthro thing adds an amazing surreal edge.
This one was filmed in the UK, and it’s definitely leaning on the big VFX industry we have over here. Absolutely fascinating film honestly.
I’m Hip, solo animated by American John Musker and comped/edited by Talin Tanielian, was also a delight. Just four minutes of really strong lively traditional animation as a cat sings a self-aggrandising song before getting chased out of town; old-school in a good way.
Tumblr media
Daug Geresnis dir. Skirmanta Jakait was the one that lost me, though I imagine if I saw it with English subs I might get more out of it (I saw it in Lithuanian with French subs). I really like the visual style, but the film was a sort of incomprehensible chain of surreal images and I didn’t really know how to put them together.
Tumblr media
Drijf dir. Levi Stoops from Belgium wrapped up this collection. This one leans hard on the grossout humour - I’d compare it to something like Savage Death Valley or to a certain extent Lloyd’s Lunchbox. A man and woman are stranded on a calm sea, rowing around on a log, suffering a series of increasingly awful injuries in their misadventures. It’s definitely a ‘bodies, fucked up right?’ sorta movie, and it was a fun bit of black humour, hearing the audience go ‘ooooh’ when something nasty happens.
I had set my reservation today for ‘The Soldier’s Tale’ but I had planned things out really stupidly and had no time to say goodbye to my brother and see that film. Instead we went round the comic shop I talked about last time. It was good to see him and he seems to be having a good time on his trip across Europe.
Speaking of brothers...
Tumblr media
I decided to take a chance on Four Souls of Coyote dir. Áron Gauder. I didn’t know much about this going in, but the brief description on the site made it sound a little preachy, so I didn’t set my hopes too high. I was so wrong, this movie was actually maybe the highlight of the day!
This is a Hungarian movie based on (nonspecifically...) Indigenous stories, with the framing device of the story being told by an old man at the Standing Rock pipeline protests. The bulk of the film is an origin story for the world: Old Man Creator - not the top god in this situation - creates Turtle Island and fills it with creatures. In a dream, he creates Coyote, and mistreats him at once; Coyote, an obligate carnivore in a world that does not yet know death, steals the creation mud and creates humans
So most of the film then tells how, through a series of events, Coyote ends up complicating the idyllic scenario by introducing death into the world, and sexual reproduction, and inspiring the creation of lightning and fire before being betrayed by the humans he created, eaten, and on his final life, driven away. It’s a really interesting sort of mythological schema: even Old Man Creator doesn’t know the why of it all, and there’s this kind of idea that a lot of the way things work happened not by design but by mistake (perhaps according to the ineffable design of , and once something is created it’s irrevocably part of the world, so we just have to make do.
I have no idea what’s based on mythology and what was created by the Hungarians, but what makes this all work is the incredible animation. This is just a really really strong work of traditional animation, with fantastic colour and compositing to boot. It might genuinely be the best looking film I’ve seen this whole festival so far, which is nuts. There are all sorts of characterful touches in every shot, the magic is presented in a really elegantly straightforward way, and the whole story unfolds with a compelling degree of intricacy and tension, setup and payoff.
Coyote, the famous trickster, is certainly the main character of this movie. He’s a fascinating character; arrogant, quick to lie and in love with his own cleverness but also we can see his pride comes from the rough circumstances of his creation, where he’s chewed out by his creator from the get go and everyone pushes him away.
The second act of the story sees Coyote free the imprisoned lightning (who’s like. a kind of dragon creature ig?) and go across the sea, discovering the Europeans, who in this story come from the discarded clay that Coyote used as a first attempt at humans; seeking revenge, Coyote invites the Europeans back to Turtle Island, not realising the level of destruction they will bring, or that they will chain him up and call him a dog. Spending the last of his four lives, Coyote has a final face turn where he tries to save the humans.
There’s a bunch to be said about this movie, and once it gets a release I am dying to show it on Animation Night. Its treatment of gender for example feels a bit too rigid and traditional, with the archetypal Man and Woman as the main human characters. The Europeans are presented as getting their power from enslaving Lightning, which is a neat way to make the story centre on what happens on Turtle Island; however, the parable-like telling kind of ends up feeling a bit too simplified where the Europeans show up and destroyed the single (kinda Plains in visual presentation) Indigenous society with overwhelming military force, which is like... not really how it all played out, but it works for the presentation of this movie, where the invasion is kind of a coda to the main story.
The ending of the movie sees the workers, ordered to bulldoze a mountain for the sake of a pipeline, climb out of their bulldozers and join the protestors, with the CEO lady in charge impotent to stop them. In our more depressing reality reality the cops showed up and drove away the protestors by overwhelming force.
I have this much to say though because the movie was so good. But tbh this is just a British girl’s impression. I really want to get Araña’s opinion on this one.
Tumblr media
Not done yet, I went to see the student films, block 2. This turned out to be another amazing time: at the big screen in Bonlieu, even this late, loads of people were there and it was the most Annecy showing yet; so many paper planes flying about. Most of the students who made the films were present in the audience and after each film stood up so we could applaud them.
The films were also really good! There are some crazy talented animation students in this world.
Havnesjefen dir. Mia L. Henriksen, Konrad Hjemli (Norway) told the story of a swan known as the Harbourmaster, known for attacking boats in the Norwegian town of Os, who was put down after he started putting humans at risk. It tried a number of ambitious things with the animation: Roger Rabbit-like compositing into live action backgrounds, and Creature Comforts-like animating characters based on real interviews with random people. The result was rough, but pretty cute and effective.
Ressources humaines dir. Titouan Tiller, Trinidad Plass, Isaac Wenzek (France) was a wonderfully dark stop motion film about a guy going to have his body recycled into a chair. It really plays up the awkward everydayness of the scenario, with the documentary camera wandering around and the cheerful patter of the receptionist; the result was great.
Makulatour dir. Tim Markgraf (Germany) was fascinating: a bunch of fluid motions filmed through a microscope (I think??) edited to music. Absolutely absorbing, I have no idea how he did it.
Deniska umřela dir. Philippe Kastner (Czech Republic) is an autobiographical story about a boy whose dog dies, and how he comes to terms with it through art. It’s got a really nice monochrome textured style that made me think of paint on velvet.
Tumblr media
Bottled Insects dir. Yuxin Gao in Japan was where things got really nuts. This is traditional animation but not at all anime, incredibly textured and shaped creatures that sort of make me think Masaaki Yuasa and sort of make me think HYLICS. It portrays a girl who collects weird creatures, building up a massive wall of them in her room; it has an ambiguous mood (the blurb says it’s about her losing her sense of self) but a strong flow and just wild imagery. I loved this one.
Hobune dir. Jass Kaselaan (Estonia) was... I’m not entirely sure what the deal with this one was. Lots of odd military imagery and concrete housing blocks. A horse falls over and gets up. The drawing was very rough and line boil-y. But yeah idk I didn’t get it, it’s another one of those ‘disconnected surreal images’ type of ones.
La Nuit Blanche dir. Audrey Delepoulle was great though. Gorgeous paint-y textures and use of lighting, it shows people desperately trying to preserve their crops with burners as frost closes in. It made me think of Frostpunk, but much more grounded. Really tense and beautiful.
Tumblr media
Passagers dir. Celia Hardy from Belgium used a similar technique to The Wolf House, animating by painting onto walls and painting over each previous frame, mixed with stop motion. There wasn’t a lot of narrative but there was definitely a lot of very inventive movement, and in general it was really fun to watch.
Priyo Ami dir. Suchana Saha (India) was an abstract one, heavily textured paint, lots of morphing shapes... I can’t remember a lot of what actually happened in it besides the cunnilingus lol. But it definitely felt very personal and sincere, and I respect putting such a film in front of everyone.
Sewing Love by Yuan Xu (Japan) took the metaphor of a partner filling a void in your life to a very literal sense. A boy meets a girl who fills the gap inside him, but when she leaves, he becomes desperate, and restrains her, eventually physically sewing her inside his body. But inside her body she retreats into a tiny ball where she grows new butterfly wings and eventually hatches out. Big metaphors! But the animation was completely wild, with all sorts of morphing and weird perspectives, I can’t even imagine what the process must have been like. I didn’t like this one as much as Bottled Insects because the metaphor felt a bit overbearing, but I was really impressed by the animation.
My last film of the night was Unique Time dir. Yu-Jin Oh (South Korea). This film was crazy technically good, like you could tell me that Studio Mir made this and I’d believe you. The scifi premise is that there are androids who holographically take on the appearance of someone, used for all sorts of purposes; our main character is an android who develops a glitch causing them to create a unique face and identity. A photographer jumps on this as a chance to become relevant again, and the android’s face is soon plastered all over the city... and inevitably a line of mass produced clones is produced. ‘Jay’ (the name assigned by the photographer) is deeply disturbed to realise they’re still just a product, and gets in a very public fight with the photographer; afterwards, they are factory reset, but the glitch still persists... It’s definitely well within the familiar territory of cyberpunk stories, but the execution carries it - it’s hard to believe this is a student film.
By the time all this was done I had to walk back because the buses had become very infrequent, but damn, so worth it. What an amazing day. It took me more than two hours to write all this up lol, between that and catching up on sleep I’ve missed the whole of Wednesday morning rip.
Time to get out there and see some more films!! Annecy is amazing I really wish I could take you all down here.
Circé, Bink’s Brew, and Rosé
Buggy heard her before he ever saw her.
Gather up all of the crew!
He was being led back to a ship by this Roger guy and his first mate Rayleigh. He could hear someone singing loudly as he approached.
It’s time to ship out Bink’s Brew!
“Cece’s at it again!” Roger laughed. “She’ll never stop singing that song.”
“I tried, but it’s her favorite.” Rayleigh sighed. “At least she got her mother’s singing voice.”
Buggy’s eyes went wide when he saw her. The girl with long blonde hair had a younger red head by the hands and was spinning around the deck with him. Her purple eyes landed on him and fixed him in place.
Sea winds blow, to where who knows?
The waves will be our guide!
The next thing Buggy knew, he had been dragged into her dance, replacing the red head.
O’er across the ocean’s tide
Rays of sunshine far and wide
Crocodile watched in amusement as she sang. Ever since she found her devil fruit, even her songs were enchanting to listen to. The entire bar was singing along and so caught up in the mood that no one noticed she was robbing them all.
Birds they sing of cheerful things
In circles passing by!
Circé laughed as she took a seat by him. “Throat too dry with sand?” She asked.
“I’m not stupid enough to let you rob me again.” He grunted, still bitter about the last.
“Hey I made it up to you by giving you a golden hook!” Circé pouted, turning back to the crowd. “How can someone not sing along to this?”
Bid farewell to Weaver’s town
Say so long to port renowned
Crocodile smiled into his ale as he heard her softly sing along with the drunken crowd. He’d throw her a bone this once.
Sing a song, it won’t be long
Before we’re casting off!
Mihawk wondered how he got here. Trapped in a party led by Shanks and Circé, two of the biggest drunken fools he had ever met. Oh right, because Circé was pregnant and someone had to make sure she wasn’t going to get drunk. And she didn’t trust Shanks so that’s why he came.
Cross the gold and silver seas
A salty breeze puts us at ease!
“Whew!” Circé laughed as she took a seat. “I haven’t had this much fun all year! You were right Shanks, you throw the best parties!”
“And my new niece or nephew deserved the best welcoming party!” Shanks cheered. “I still can’t believe you of all people are going to be a mother! How did that even happen!?”
Mihawk watched in confusion as Circé’s eyes widened, and wondered why she so desperately grabbed a cup to shove in Shank’s hands. “Who cares why?!” Circé laughed. “Just worry about how you’re gonna be my babysitter!”
“What was that about?” Mihawk asked his friend as they watched Circé return to the party.
Day and Night
To our delight
The voyage never ends!
Circé rocked her baby as she paced around deck. “I appreciate you helping me out so much.”
“It’s no problem.” Tom assured her.
“I know you’re busy with the train.” Circé continued. “I just need help making sure her crib and dresser don’t slide around.”
“You just have a seat honey and let the boys take care of things.” Kokoro said, handing Circé a bottle. “They’ll have your ship baby proofed before the day ends.”
Circé nodded and took a seat. Roselyn was starting to get fussy so Circé began to sing.
Gather up all of the crew,
it’s time to ship out Bink’s Brew!
Circé noticed that the younger of Tom’s kids, Cutty Flam was giving her odd looks as she held her baby. She wondered why until she remembered what Tom had told her. Cutty’s parents were pirates who abandoned him. He was probably wondering if she’d do the same with Roselyn.
Pirates we, eternally, are challenging the sea!
With the waves to rest our heads
Ship beneath as our beds
Rosé felt… odd as she listened to Brook’s play. “What is this song?” She asked.
“Bink’s brew.” Robin explained. “It’s a very popular sea shanty.”
Hoisted high, upon the mast, our Jolly Roger flies!
Somewhere in the endless sky
Stormy winds are blowing wide
“I know this song…” Rosé said quietly.
“Course you do.” Franky said. “I’ve heard plenty of pirates singing it back in Water 7.”
“No, that’s not it.” She insisted. “But I can’t remember.”
Waves are dancing
Evening comes
It’s time to sound the drums!
“Please tell me more.” Rosé begged.
But steady men and never fear!
Tomorrow’s skies are always clear!
“Bink’s Brew.” Shakky sighed nostalgically. “Your mother’s favorite song.”
“She told us that she was even making it your lullaby.” Rayleigh said. “We could never get her to stop singing it.”
So pound your feet
And clap your hands
Till sunny days return!
“It’s my favorite song and I hate it more than anything else.” Buggy the Clown told her. “Because she always looked so happy singing it and I will never hear her sing it again.”
Gather up all of the crew
It’s time to ship out Bink’s Brew
“That bitch got me so drunk and relaxed I didn’t notice she stole my hook right off my hand!” Crocodile scowled. “And I never paid her back for that!”
Wave goodbye, but don’t you cry
Our memories remain!
Shanks sighed. “Cece was always the life of the party, and nothing made her more exciting than that song. If I had known that was the last party we’d have, I’d have done so much more.”
Our days are but a passing dream
Everlasting though they seem
“Circé was an… unusual woman.” Mihawk mused. “You didn’t get a lot of female pirates of her caliber back then. You could say she inspired a generation. She had a lovely voice.”
Beneath the moon we’ll meet again
The waves our lullaby!
“Damn I wish I knew it was you.” Franky was beating himself up badly now that he knew the truth. “Maybe Iceberg and I could’ve helped you when you first came to Water 7.”
“I was a baby, why would you recognize me as a ten year old?” Rosé comforted.
After all is said and done
You’ll end up a skeleton
“Your mother sounds wonderful.” Crossette sighed. “I wish we could’ve met her.”
“Grandfather said that she wanted to be buried on Raftel.” Rosé said. “When we get there, I’m going to make sure she has a grave.”
So spread your tale
From dawn til dusk
Upon these foamy seas!!
Parents of my listener ocs:
Ari Diamond (Freelancer) - Madeline 'Maddie' Diamond and Benjamin Diamond Sr
Madeline was born a freelancer, but after injecting herself with shade essence, she went insane. She would give birth to three children before being arrested by D.U.M.P:
Kaylee Diamond, Wolf shifter
Ari Diamond, Freelancer
Benjamin Diamond Jr, Shade Hybrid
Ben Sr was born a wolf shifter, and is the beta of the Montriguez pack. He is a sociopath, who encouraged Maddie's experiments, and even pushed her to experiment on Ben Jr before being arrested alongside his wife.
Ben Jr has never been to school before, and was taken in by an inchoate daemon named Chara. He is currently being homeschooled by his adoptive father.
Aiko Yurihime (Angel) - Takara Yurihime and Kokoro Yurihime
Takara was born an unempowered human in Japan. She got a job as an assistant to a modelling company and lived a fairly normal life until she met Kokoro. She was immediately smitten and hooked up with him, having two children:
Aiko Yurihime, Unempowered human
Hikari Yurihime, Fox shifter
Kokoro was born a fox shifter in Japan, and had a glamorous upbringing. By the time he was in his 20s, he was rich, famous, handsome and a supermodel. After Takara told him she had gotten pregnant, he married her in order to not only support her, but to be in his children's life. This was a bad idea, and after a lot of fighting, they'd divorce.
Aiko and Hikari were split in the divorce. Aiko went with Takara and Hikari stayed with Kokoro. Aiko is taking after his father more than his mother.
Briar Forrest (Baaabe) - Caroline Forrest and Cedar Forrest
Caroline was born in New York, being an unempowered human. She had dreams to be a teacher, but put that on hold because a fling with Cedar got her pregnant. While Caroline never blamed Cedar for her having to give up on her dreams, she did blame her children, despite the fact she had 10 of them:
Briar Forrest, Unempowered human
Sage Forrest, Unempowered human
Rosie Forrest, Unempowered human
Daisy Forrest, Unempowered human
Pine Forrest, Unempowered human
Hemlock Forrest, Unempowered human
Ivy Forrest, Unempowered human
Marigold Forrest, Unempowered human
Thorn Forrest, Unempowered human
Rowan Forrest, Unempowered human
Cedar was also born in New York, being an unempowered human as well. He has an enhanced connection to plants, something he passed down to his oldest daughter, Briar. Like Caroline, he also blames the children for him not being able to achieve his own dreams, and left them in Briar's care.
When Briar left, Sage began working many different jobs in order to buy a place where he and his siblings could live without their parents. So far, he's half way there.
Olethros Nyxium (Sweetheart) - Persephone Nyxium and Erebos Nyxium
Persephone was born in Greece, although the exact date is unknown due to her family being so closed off. She was named after the goddess of fertility and queen of the underworld, as a way of paying tribute to Persephone. She was arranged to marry Erebos, and gave birth to 25 sets of twins, although only two have left their families home:
Olethros Nyxium, Stealth
Artemis Nyxium, ???
Erebos was born in Greece as well, and the exact date is unknown. He was named after the primordial god of Tartarus, as a way of paying tribute to him. Erebos would be in an arranged marriage with Persephone, and would father 50 children with her.
Olethros carried out a number of whirlwind romances before meeting Milo, although the only one he wanted to last was with his oldest friend.
Artemis Surcorrose (Lovely) Elizabeth Surcorrose and Andrew Surcorrose
Elizabeth was born in America, but she moved to Greece as a child. She felt alone and isolated, but she then met Andrew, and they become close friends. When they grew up, they were married and adopted 3 children, as Elizabeth was infertile:
Daiyu Surcorrose, Dragon shifter
Isadora Surcorrose, Contra-fire energetic
Artemis Surcorrose, Electro energetic
Andrew grew up in Greece, and was a very lively child. He quickly made friends with other kids, including Elizabeth, who he grew up to marry. He was a very strict father towards his children, believing that tough love would make them strong.
Artemis moved to Dahlia as a young adult, and dyed her hair purple as a fit of rebellion. She developed an interest in paranormal places right away, which led to her exploring Wonderworld.
Oliver Montcroix (Darlin') - Charlotte Montcroix and Duncan Montcroix
Charlotte was born in Oxford, England. She was a wolf shifter, and enjoyed running with her pack. She met Duncan when she was 17, and was immediately smitten with the Direwolf shifter. They got married and had 4 children together:
Oscar Montcroix, Wolf shifter
Noah Montcroix, Wolf shifter
George Montcroix, Wolf shifter
Ophelia Montcroix, Direwolf shifter
Duncan was born in London, England. He was a Direwolf shifter, which was rare among wolf shifters. He was made alpha of his pack at 22, when his 3rd son was on the way. After George was born, he moved the family to Dahlia for diplomatic purposes.
Charlotte, Duncan, Oscar, Noah and George were killed by wolf hunters, leaving only 3 year old Ophelia. She grew up and transitioned to male, becoming Oliver Montcroix. He doesn't remember much about his birth family.
kyou kara maou is for a part of it a stupid show because it's written from the POV of a dumbass teenager, but i don't really remember it touching such sad plots lmao, like a former racist lord mazoku, hube, falling in love with a human woman, nicola, whom he got pregnant.
mazoku-human relationships are SO sad. mazoku live for so long, & halfbloods might not age as fast as purebloods, but it's SO sad that it could be possible that the halfblood child hasn't even matured completely yet & the human parent could have already died of old age or disease
and it's possible that a pureblood parent can outlive their halfblood child. i'm not saying a mazoku-human relationship can't find happiness, but a pureblood outliving their halfblood children & their human spouse ugh that strikes sadness & hurt into my kokoro
we dont even actually know how old conrad and gwendal are, and the only age we get outright is wolfram's: 82 and wolfram looks 16. but we do know that conrad was old enought to hold wolfram on his own when wolfram was born, and that gunter taught conrad.
this show is just being very sad right now for me
Video: "Her Moaning Woke Me up" Man Cries Out in Ibadan Over Pastor Who Slept With his Wife While he Was Asleep
Tumblr media
An Ibadan-based man had narrated how he caught his wife in a compromising situation with their pastor in his one bedroom rented apartment. The man simply identified as Oluwasina Adeshina made this known on a family affairs radio programme –“Kokoro Alate” on Agidigbo 88.7fm in Ibadan. Oluwasina noted that the pastor is the rightful owner of 4 out of the 6 children he has with his wife, adding that he has sent her packing on many occasions but refused to leave his house. Narrating her own side of the ordeal, the woman, Alimat Adeshina, noted that she gave birth to twins twice and have a total of 6 children. Insisting that she never gave birth to a child for the pastor, Alimat added that the pastor had written the family of her husband noting that he had at some point had affairs with her although trying to clear her out of the mess. The then pastor of their church, Pastor Adeyele noted that the family joined his church in 2013, adding that he had affairs with her in 2014 and for the fact that the husband of the woman is good to him, he had to confess and apologise for his misdeeds. “They gave birth to twins in 2016, and I was the one who named the children. They stopped coming to my church since around 2018 because a church was established close to them. “I received a call in July 2022 and to my surprise, it was her husband who called telling me to come take my wife and my children. “I called our landlord chairman and invited the husband, he noted that his wife is the one fraustrating him and they’ve sorted the grudges. He added that he married another wife last year and since she’s aware, she’s been making life a hell for him. “In January, it got a call for an invitation from Akobo Police Station. I met the woman (Alimat) there saying that her husband had sent her parking with 6 children asking for how I could assist. I recalled the story and we were allowed to go. “I received another call from Agidigbo Radio concerning this case again that the husband claimed that I am the father of 5 of his 6 children,” the accused pastor narrated. Narrating his own side of the story, Oluwashina (husband) noted that his family started attending the pastor’s church in 2014 after his mother’s death. “The case started when the pastor told me my wife reported that I don’t dress well. I accused them of extramarital affairs then and I was later told by the pastor that my wife will get pregnant and we must not abort the child. “The pastor told us to begin a vigil together and he comes around to sleep on my bed with my wife while I sleep on the floor. The first time he came, I told my wife to come with me but insisted she’s sleeping beside the pastor. “I caught them moaning one day while they thought I was asleep, they were having a conversation and when I confronted the pastor, he accepted but told me to save his image due to his pastoral ministry. “He later came to my shop telling me to ensure no other person hears about the case if I want to remain alive that he would come back for his children when they clock 15. “My wife took my case to her family house accusing me of not taking care of the children,” Oluwasina narrated. https://youtu.be/onMmUTfxY9w Read the full article
Kokoro better get her memory back!!!
... And Mitsuru too. But really her in particular. Cause remember this scene.
Tumblr media
SHE’S PREGNANT!!
I was reading some posts that estimate her to be somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks along at this point. Now a decent number of people think that the looks the girls share in this scene is them acknowledging this as well as showing concern. I disagree.
The scene with Nines busting in to confront Kokoro about the book and her putting the moves on Mitsuru showed that the other parasites only vaguely know what pregnancy even is. I really don’t think that they’d have any clue to the symptoms.
Zero Two looking her way while talking about the future though? That could be a sign she knows. Zero Two has been shown many times to be more... wild and worldly than the others. She Implied knowing about sex when everyone else barely knew what kissing was.
Zero Two also has extremely advanced senses. She was able to tell Ikuno’s exact temperature through touch that one time among other things. So yeah she probably knows. However her knowledge of human kind is spotty at best. Being able to tell Kokoro’s pregnant through sent or something? Sure. Knowing anything about the care of a baby at any stage of growth? Probably not. Actual birth giving? “You just squeeze it out, right? Then lick it clean?” ..... That could go badly.
This is why if Squad 13 live through this, baby intact? (Which omg please let that happen, I’ve never rooted for a teen pregnancy so much!!) As cute as them falling in love all over again would be, Kokoro needs NEEDS HER MEMORY BACK!! SHE’S THE ONLY ONE WHO READ THE BOOK!!!
Right now she doesn’t doesn’t even realize she’s pregnant because she doesn’t have any memory of knowing anything about the whole process.
Ideal situation? Kokoro and Misturu get their memory back, the entirety of the little family makes it through to the end, and there is an absolutely heart warming moment where she puts the pieces together and then turns to Mitsuru to tell him that he’s going to be a father.
This needs to happen, I think I’m gonna cry if it doesn’t.
