Three’s a Crowd
pairing: sebastian sallow x ominis gaunt x reader
summary: it’s the next school year after you have defeated ranrok while saving hogwarts in the process. you’d think that all of the students would treat you nicely and see you as a hero but it was quite the opposite. the only time they ever left you alone was when you were with your best friends, one day someone slipped up in front of you three….
note: more of a friendship type story? i wanted something cute with our boys
warnings: mentions and acts of bullying from randoms
Tumblr media
“alright class that will be all for today, be sure to study up on the pages i have assigned for you tonight” professor weasley announces while dismissing all of you
“ah y/n, will you please come up here before you leave to help me with something?” she says while walking towards her desk
you give her a nod and gather up all your books
“typical, of course she’d ask the teachers pet for help” you hear a slytherin boy huff behind you while snickering amongst others
you turn around with a scowl on your face, but quickly turn back around when you saw how many of them were there looking at you. you really did not want to deal with them all today
you quickly grab your books and make your way towards professor weasley
after a small talk about some new field guide pages she located for you in lower hogsfield you make your way out of the classroom in hopes you wouldn’t run into anyone
of course you thought too soon, as there was a group of slytherin students standing against the wall waiting for you to walk out of the class
“well well well, isn’t it the teacher pet” one boy says as they start to surround you
“could we just not today? i still don’t know why you feel so irritated with me…” you say looking down at your shoes, really wanting to disappear into the ground
“you know exactly why” the boy sneered as he slams your books to the ground “thinking you are some kind of hero, we all know you are just a show off that stole house points from us. you don’t deserve to be here you know” he says kicking your books away
the others laugh at his actions and whisper amongst each other
“everyone knows hufflepuffs are just crybabies” he says inching closer to your face
you wanted to cry, you wanted to scream for some kind of help but it was no use. everyone seemed to scatter away once the interaction started
“are you gonna cry out for sebastian? or ominis? they can’t protect you forever. even they will eventually see how pathetic you are” he says with gritted teeth before motioning everyone to “come on”
as they all walk past you, some bump your shoulder while others kick your books further away from you
you stand still, staring at your shoes until you don’t hear anyone anymore. you quickly go to pick up your books and start walking towards the boathouse, hoping for some privacy, as you made it to the top of the steps you feel hot tears starting to roll down your face
no no, i can’t cry. i shouldn’t cry
picking up the pace quickly down the stairs before anyone sees you like this, you thought to your self. you did feel pathetic, you couldn’t even stand up for yourself, you’re suppose to be some kind of hero?
“y/n hey! whoa slow down!”
you recognize the voice from behind you
no no no don’t see me like this
you stop in your tracks and wipe your tears the best you could before turning on your heels facing your best friends
“hello” you whimper out
“whoa y/n are you okay? what’s wrong?” sebastian says walking up to you, ominis following closely behind
“did something happen to you?” ominis asks, making his way closer to you
“no i just fell and damaged some of my books. i guess it just kind of made me emotional” you lie showing your damaged books
“i don’t suppose repairo would work on those huh” sebastian says staring down at your books
“is that what really made you upset y/n?” ominis questions, clearly not buying your story
damn him for seeing through you
“yeah i’m okay! let’s go down to the boathouse, i wanted some time away from everyone” you say, turning on your heels walking down the rest of the stairs, avoiding their questions
the boys agree while following closely behind you. you could hear them whisper to each other, talking about how there’s something definitely wrong with you. choosing to ignore them, you keep making your way down the stairs.
finally making it to the bottom, the three of you put your bags down and walk towards the end of the dock and sat down. having both boys on either side of you now, you felt a little bit more safe.
“are you sure everything’s alright y/n? you really don’t seem okay” sebastian says worried looking into your eyes “you know we can tell you’ve been crying”
“i’m okay i promise, i just have a lot of my mind” you say looking into the water
“well you know you could tell us. that’s what we are here for” ominis says leaning in closer to you
you smile at your friend, putting your hand on his shoulder “maybe soon i’ll let you guys know. but for now let’s enjoy the weather yeah?” you say reassuring your friends
sebastian gives you a huff and looks into the water
the three of you sit for a little bit, talking about your day and laughing together until a pair of girls come walking onto the docks behind you ruining the moment for the three of you
you hear the girls snicker behind you and whisper “look at her with both of them as if they would want someone like her”
“threes definitely a crowd, who does she think she is sitting with the two most popular slytherins in school” the other girl laughs in a hush tone as they walk towards the opposite side of the dock
you stiff up hearing their voices and almost immediately feel the waterworks’s coming back up
“what did you two say?” sebastian calls out, now completely turned around looking at them with an annoyed look
“o-oh nothing sebastian! we were just talking to ourselves” one of the girls says, clearly embarrassed that he heard her
ominis begins to stand up and wipe off his robes “you know i may be blind girls but i’m not deaf, you two really must work on your whispering” he says walking towards them with sebastian
“do you have something you wanted to say to us or were the two of you about to go somewhere else” sebastian says, annoyance lacing his voice
“w-we were just leaving yeah, right?” one girl speaks to her friend. the other one nods and quickly tugs her friend away back up the stairs away from the boathouse
you sit there stunned watching your friends stand up for you, shocked that they would even do such a thing. it’s not like what the girls were saying was wrong, why would they even want to be around someone like me
they both turn around a make their way back towards you
“is this what’s been going on? have people been saying stuff like this to you alot?” sebastian questions, pulling you up from your sitting position
“kind of…” you admits, looking down at your shoes
“why haven’t you told us y/n?” ominis asks
“i just didn’t want to worry you. plus it’s not like they are wrong, i don’t feel very worthy of your friendships” you say, clearly letting the bullies words infiltrate your mind
“are you kidding me? do you know all you have done for me? are we not going to discuss when i went practically crazy last year?” sebastian questions, clearly baffled with your words
“you must know how much you have done for us y/n, how much you have done for hogwarts. we are glad we met you and wouldn’t want it any other way” ominis says, placing his hand up on your shoulder, rubbing it slightly
you look up at ominis and smile at the both of them “s-sorry for saying that then… i just have been taking it from everyone for so long. you two are really the only ones i have right now” you admit, looking between the boys
“we are so glad to have met you, you truly mean everything to us. you are our charge” sebastian says with a small blush creeping up onto his freckles
you smile, your face also feeling hot as you pull both of the boys in for a hug
“i really do love the both of you” you admit, blushing into the hug
the boys hug you back, practically squeezing the air out of you in the process
“now then…” sebastian starts while pulling away “where are the others that have been messing with you”
“actually most of them of slytherin boys…”
“oh for the love of merlin”

FLUFF ALPHABET — HLC
Sebastian Sallow ໒꒰ྀི´ ˘ ` ꒱ྀིა
Tumblr media
Category: Fluffy Fluff ໒꒰ྀི´ ˘ ` ꒱ྀིა
A = Admiration (what do they absolutely adore about you?)
Sebastian adores everything about you — and not in the way of 'oh everything about you is perfect,' but just because he generally adores it all. Though deep down, if you asked, it would be your thirst for adventure and how caring you are. Truthfully, at times Sebastian feels like he focuses too hard on things, that sometimes he ignores those around him — to the point, that his attitude can sometimes be misconstrued. Except somehow, to you its sweet and more often than not, Sebastian can't understand why you deal with him half the time. He's never met someone like you, that makes him feel as if he could take on the world and perhaps that why he fell so hard and so fast.
B = Body (what is their favourite part of your body?)
Now, Sebastian would at first tease you about this. He would say something stupid — make it sexual, just to be playfully. But he would be kidding himself and don't get me wrong — he loves all those things about you, but truthfully it's your eyes. Sebastian wants to come off as a cocky — overconfident guy and yes, he often is that, but deep down, he cares a lot about the little things and your eyes, were what caught his attention first. Perhaps, it is a little basic, saying it's your eyes, that are is favourite — but Sebastian doesn't see it that way. No, to Sebastian, he thinks often about how the light reflects perfectly in them and how bright they look when you look at him — but mostly it's the way they reflect the love you feel for everything you do, put your mind to. He loves them.
C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)
Sebastian cuddles in different ways, depending on his mood, where you are, who is around you etc. If Sebastian is happy, his cuddles are light and fun, he tickles you, plays with your hair. If Sebastian is sad, his cuddles are tight and shaky, his fingers lace with yours as he holds you in his lap, your back against his chest. If Sebastian is horny, his cuddles are intense and touchy, he can't sit still and they never are just cuddles for very long. When you're in the common room, Sebastian hugs you warmly and ignore the stares of others, when you're in the great hall, Sebastian hugs you a little more shyly, more so due to the Professors. When your friends are around, he doesn't care, he happily holds you and loves to show off that your his. When it's those that he knows likes you, he teases them and his cuddles grow more playful — more intimate.
D = Dates (what does their ideal date with you look like?)
Anything adventurous. Anything dangerous and honestly that's where you both have the most fun. At the end of the day, he loves to take you around the outskirts of Hogwarts, treating you to hidden caves and waterfalls — knowing well that you love that kind of stuff and well, so does he. But truthfully, it's just that he loves being alone with you and not for anything intimate — though that does often happen, he just likes having your full attention. But don't get him wrong, an evening trip to Hogsmeade, with the lights bright and with you both happily feeding each other sweets — is something he loves too and just seeing you happy is all that matters.
E = Emotions (how do they express emotion around you?)
Sebastian gets heated quickly. He's a hot head, he sometimes can't help it and although at times it can be pretty intense — Sebastian is always the first to seek you out to apologise. When he's upset, he hides. He doesn't like looking weak, especially not in front of you and so he seeks refuge in the shadows — trying his best to sort himself out before seeing you. However, you don't let him do this, you're stubborn and you care too much. And so you find him and hold him, let him cry, scream, do anything he needs, but you stay with him until the end. When he's frisky, well you have no hope, you better run or succumb to him and either way, you end up happy — depends on how much you feel like teasing him.
F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?)
Sebastian would want a family, I believe so. You see the way he cares for his sister and the way he speaks of his parents. It's clear that he would be a great father, one that would boast about his children, spend hours in the garden — chasing them around, play-fighting, pretending to be pirates etc. Sebastian wouldn't have a time-limit, though if you were to get pregnant early, he would step up quickly and be happy about it. But truthfully, he'd want you to wait a little, wishing to travel the world with you — giving you the life you deserve.
G = Gifts (how do they feel about gift giving? What are their habits when it comes to this?)
Sebastian loves gifting you things. But perhaps to most, his gifts would seem boring — dumb or considered cheap. He would gift you books, lined with quotes and he would circle things that he loved or things that reminded him of you. Truthfully, he would feel embarrassed about it, knowing that money wasn't something he had, he found that giving you the books he fell in love with — showed you, that he truly loved you. Books are a big part of him and you always loved when he brought you a new one, beaming brightly as he explained to you, what it was about and how it reminded him of you.
H = Holding Hands (when/how do they like to hold hands?)
Sebastian holds your hand always. He would glue your hands together if he could and you're almost certain that he's looked up spells to do just that. Truthfully, he loves holding your hand, fiddling with your fingers as you giggle — because it tickles, he loves feeling how soft your hands feel and how small they are in his. And no matter where, or who is around, Sebastian will hold your hand tightly and with pride — showing off that you are his and he is yours.
I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?)
Sebastian would be pissed first, perhaps wondering what had happened and you would watch him frantically rush into the infirmary — exploding at anyone that could tell him what had happened. But when he sees you, he would immediately soften and reach your side, gently sitting on the edge of the bed — before looking over you and questioning you a million questions per minute. You would eventually get him to shut up and promise it wasn't serious — perhaps an duel accident or being knocked off your broom in Quidditch and he would suddenly grow angry again, wishing to do something about it. But when you reach for his hand and ask for him to stay, Sebastian would fall, slipping in beside you softly and hold you close — keeping you busy from the pain, while he explained anything and everything that came to his head.
J = Jokes (do they like to joke around with or prank you? how?)
Sebastian is a serial joker, it honestly gets too much sometimes. But he's lucky you love him and when he comes rushing into the common room, begging you to hide him — it's only after a seething Ominis comes storming towards you, that you give him up quickly. This often happens and he whines at you loudly as Ominis drags him away. He loves to joke around with you. Honestly he's so playful, that he loves teasing you and enjoys when you grumble at him about it. He doesn't prank you though, he has tried once and it ended badly — so eventually, Sebastian brings you under his wing and you both end up playing pranks on your friends, mainly Garreth.
K = Kisses (how do they like to kiss you?)
Sebastian kisses are intense, soft, passionate, funny and cute. Depending on the situation, Sebastian kisses you in such a way that leaves you feeling like you're floating on a cloud. When his kisses are intense, Sebastian barely allows you both to breathe, wishing to keep you both together for as long as you both can hold it. And he grumbles when you pull away. When his kisses are soft, he leaves little kisses against your face, your eyes, nose, lips, cheeks, any part that he can lay his lips. And he smiles when you giggle. When his kisses are passionate, his whole body shows it, his hands keep you still and he grips you tightly as his lips move fast and almost roughly. And he moans softly when you deepen it. When his kisses are funny and cute, he chuckles often against your lips and he whines when you tickle him. He nibbles at your skin and he laughs hard when you snort.
L = Love (how do they show you they love you?)
Sebastian is three of the five, love languages. Words of affirmation, Quality time and Physical touch. Sometimes he would be the forth and fifth, but truthfully the first three — fit him best. He LOVES to show you how much he loves you, through telling you — constantly. And honestly, he would show you he loves you through wanting to spend every waking moment with you, touching you, holding you — it never has to be physical in the intimate sense, though he doesn't shy away from that, but he just needs to feel your presence near him and even if that's just your hand against his knee.
M = Memory (favorite memory together?)
Your first duel. Simple, the first time you showed him up and the first time he fell hard for you. That was the moment he realised you were different — not just some pretty girl, but someone who made him curious and it only grew from there.
N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)
Losing you. With everything that happened, Sebastian often has nightmares of you leaving him — realising he's not worthy of your love and it often ends with him crying and asking for you to meet with him. He wouldn't tell you straight away, just wishing to hold you and feel you against him. But eventually he tells you and you spend the rest of the evening, calming him down and telling him it's going to be alright.
O = Oddity (what is one quirk they have?)
Pokes his tongue out when he's focused. Sebastian reminds me of the type of kid that naturally pokes his tongue out when he focuses really hard on something and usually when he's studying. You noticed once and after that you can't help but find it completely adorable — and it's only after he spots you staring that he questions you about it.
P = Pet Names (what do they like to call you?)
Dummy
Big head
Princess
Shortie
Sweetheart
Sugar
Sweet Cheeks
Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?)
Studying — honestly, reading more than studying. He would just appreciate having you near him, your fingers entwined while you read quietly to yourselves and that's all he really needs. If you're not studying, it would be duelling or going on flights together. Or simply just lying together on the grass, trying to search for clouds shaped like odd things — truthfully, you could just sit together in silence and he would love it, it's all about being with you. That's it.
R = Rhythm (what song reminds you of them?)
Love in the dark - Adele
Hope it's you - India Parkman
Double take - dhruv
Glue Song - beabadoobee
I loved you then (and I love you still) - Woodlock
Dear Soulmate - Laufey
Golden Hour - JVKE
S = Secrets (how open are they with you?)
Sebastian would tell you everything. You're his person, the one that he trusts with his whole heart and with anything that he's thinking about, that's affecting him, everything. He knows that you won't be kind and you will tell him the truth, but you will also support him and not give up on him — you hold his heart, his mind and he trusts you more than anyone in the entire world.
T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)
Middle of sixth-year. Fifth-year ended a little too intensely for the both of you and a relationship didn't seem appropriate. And you both weren't ready for it, though you feelings for each other did nothing but grow. Sebastian is the one that asks, and it's more so a sudden yell of his feelings, abrupt and out of the blue — but he can't help himself and when you laugh and pull him into a kiss, Sebastian kicks himself for thinking you didn't like him back.
U = Upset (how do they act when you’re upset?)
Sebastian feels your emotions and doubles them. Let's just say, he hates seeing you upset and so depending on the situation — he quickly figures out what you need. If something happened with other students, depending on what, Sebastian would defend you, perhaps resulting in a few detentions — but it's worth it. If it's because of insecurities, he would pull you into a suffocating hold and relay every little thing he loves about you, the way your nose wrinkles when you are about to sneeze, the way you bite at the skin of lips when you're nervous, the way you tap your fingers against the desk when you try to count. He hates seeing you upset and he will eventually end up making a fool of himself, until he sees you smile again.
V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?)
Sebastian is proud of you. He's proud of everything you have accomplished, he's proud of how strong you are and how you never say no — the fact that you never shy away from helping others and how you put them first. He is proud of your talent, your ability to adapt and the way you are kind and beautiful. Sebastian shows you off whenever he gets the chance, "look at my beautiful girlfriend — yes you heard me, MY GIRLFRIEND! She's amazing, isn't she?"
W = Warrior (how do they feel about you fighting? Would they fight for you, beside you, etc?)
He loves it. It's something he is obsessed with when it comes to you and honestly most of the time it prefers fighting beside you. It's a good excuse for Sebastian to not have to lose against you and have others comment on his abilities starting to falter. But god, he can't help but enjoy watching you take others down and even when you take him down, he can't help but find it incredibly heart pumping.
X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?)
Sebastian sucks at this. He's an idiot at the best of times. Truthfully, I believe he needs you to explain things to him, especially when it comes to things that are upsetting you. It's not like he doesn't want to figure out it on his own, he just struggles and more often than not, he just wants you to explain it to him. He always apologies for this, but you can't stay mad at him for long.
Y = Yes (how would they propose to you?)
I can see Sebastian proposing in the midst of a battle, you're both bloody, dirty and deep in battling/protecting each other — your backs would be pressed together, you would be focused on dark wizards in front of you and then suddenly Sebastian asks you to marry him. It comes out in sort of a grunt/yell and at first you think you've heard wrong, only for him to spin you towards him — casting spells over your shoulder as you do the same. He'd ask you again and when you can't believe it, he quickly kisses you, asking more softly. You agree of course and when the battle is over, he gives you his mother's ring and you both cry. (Think Pirates of the Caribbean LMAO)
Z = Zen (what makes them feel calm?)
You.
Being near you.
Holding you.
Touching you.
YOU.
SCREAMING THIS TOOK SO LONG LMAO BUT ENJOY

Sour Times
{Bully!Sebastian Sallow x Bullied!GN!Hufflepuff!}
Tumblr media
Introduction: Slight deviation from the official HL story. Rather than everyone being intrigued at your unique arrival to Hogwarts, it’s a badge of dishonor to develop your magic so late. Hufflepuffs have a pathetic reputation, and you’ve been sorted into their house. The only reason Sebastian puts up with you is because he needs your ancient magic... and because he wants you all to himself. But he’d never tell, not when the whole school would start picking on and laughing at him like they did you. Yet, when he sees the way you look at Garreth Weasley, he wonders if everyone else’s approval means anything at all.
Word Count: ~ 6,350
Warnings: Kissing, Angst, Bullying
Author’s Note: I finally finished! 🥳 Us Hufflepuffs always get dunked on and I wanted to play around with that. I watched A Silent Voice and Normal People and couldn’t stop thinking about bully-to-lover scenarios. I’ve proofread so many times but I know I’m missing something, gonna do that thing where I get sneaky and edit here and there. Long one today so kick back, grab a snack, do hot people shit, enjoy 😘
Songs (if interested):
Sour Times - Portishead
Intro/Spectrum - HAELOS
September - Instrumental - Sparky Deathcap (oh... cara mia, how i love him)
Heather - Conan Gray
chance with you - mehro
Awaken - Dario Marianelli, Jack Liebeck, Benjamin Wallfisch
“We know that from time to time, there arise among human beings, people who seem to exude love as naturally as the sun gives out heat.”
- Alan W. Watts
-
As you meandered down the halls to your next class, holding your books with one hand and the other resting in your pocket, someone had grabbed your arm, tugging you behind a corner, causing you to drop your belongings. Whoever it was slammed your back into the wall, then propped up a hand next to your head to trap you in place.
You looked up and met the eyes of your abductor. This position wasn’t anything new to you, though it was new to be here with Sebastian Sallow.
Someone was always trying to mess with you or ruin your day. Being a late bloomer with magic and getting sorted into Hufflepuff hadn’t done you any favors. Other than that, there wasn’t anything wrong with you per se, it was just your social standing at Hogwarts. Even some Hufflepuffs wanted nothing to do with you, believing you made their house even more embarrassing to be in. Yet, that didn’t stop any of the student body from threatening you to do favors for them.
“Heard that you can wield ancient magic. Is it true?”
Your furrowed your brows, wondering how word could spread that quickly. But you suppose the magic you used on the troll in Hogsmeade hadn’t been very discreet. Too bad they gave all the credit to Natsai Onai, you might have made some friends with your troll takedown story.
Shifting your gaze down, you nodded your head.
“Prove it.” He held out a folded piece of parchment, the all too familiar blue glow emanating from it.
You took it from his hands and unfolded it to see rune symbols you’d encountered countless times. “Where did you get this?”
“Doesn’t matter, do you recognize those rune symbols?”
You nodded your head looking over the pages. “I see these whenever I need to unlock a door with ancient magic.”
Sebastian’s breath hitched and you finally met his heavy stare. He cleared his throat and regained his composure. “Exactly. And you’re going to come with me to open one I found.”
You folded the parchment back up and held it out to him. “Okay.”
He snatched it from your hands. “Don’t toy with me. If you don’t help me with this, I can make your life truly miserable here. I’m good friends with Ominis Gaunt, and he’s not afraid to use his family connections to -”
“I said okay.”
Sebastian narrowed his eyes at you, not knowing what you were playing at.
“Write me when you have a time and place.” You told him, exhausted.
He eyed you a moment longer, then stepped aside for you to leave. You picked up your books from the ground and kicked the dirt at your feet as you left, taking your time getting to your next class.
“So you’re going to help me? Just like that?” He called after you when he saw it was still just the two of you in the hall.
“Got nothing better to do.” You replied as you kept on your way.
-
Sebastian was the first person to ask for something and come along with you to get it done. Most people would just send you off, but there he was, exploring the cave and fighting giant spiders by your side.
That little outing turned out to be the first of many. Over time, Sebastian explained his sister’s curse and everything he had done to try to find a cure. He kept it to himself, but he was happy to find someone he could go through this journey with, someone who wasn’t trying to make him abandon hope, even if it was the Hogwarts outcast.
You made the mistake of assuming this meant you were friends in public. When you tried to approach him at Hogwarts, he looked at you as if you had grown horns. He caught sight of a few students whispering to each other and glancing your way. In a panic, he knocked the books from your hands, scattering them to the floor.
“Looks like the Hufflepuff had a little accident.” He jested loud enough for everyone around to hear. He walked away to meet up with some other Slytherin students who were in hysterics at what he had just done. He glanced back your way and it took everything in him to keep the amused look on his face. You were picking your books up off the floor and Garreth Weasley had come to help you. Sebastian noticed he had said something to cheer you up and it brought a smile to your face.
And then a thought surfaced in his head. I think I'd rather be the one who made you smile.
-
Sebastian’s public displays of discourtesy hadn’t let up. He felt awful, but he couldn’t stand the scrutiny he would get if he was seen with you. Just because he could see all these wonderful qualities in you, didn’t mean everyone else could. The Slytherins especially would give him a tough time. He would get defensive, spewing every excuse he could think of. “Don’t be daft. I only needed to see the Hufflepuff about charms class, nothing more.”
The guilt ate away at him. So when the two of you came across the scriptorium door that could only be opened by casting the cruciatus curse, he felt this could be his penance. But you refused to cast it on him.
He fisted the fabric of your shirt, jerking you towards him. “Dammit, why not?!” He demanded, incredulous. Dread arose in him, because he knew if he casted it on you he would be causing true agony. Everything he had done to you at Hogwarts was an act of rudeness, he never wanted to do anything that caused you pain in this way.
“Because I wouldn’t mean it.”
His face recoiled as if you had slapped him. He was unable to believe it. After all you’ve put up with, how could you not mean to harm him, how could you not want to? “I have been nothing but cruel to you, this is your chance to be cruel back! I know you hate me! I know you hate everyone!”
“I don’t hate you.” You placed your hands atop his that were gripping your shirt, in hopes it would calm him down. “Cast it on me, Sebastian. Get us out of here.”
Sebastian released your shirt, shoving you back. He turned away from you and rubbed a steadying hand down his face. Using the frustration he felt with you then, he spun to face you and recited, “Crucio!”
You fell to the floor, your screams of suffering echoed through his head.
Sebastian shot up in bed in a cold sweat, breathing coming out uneven. He rubbed his face in his hands and let out a shaky sigh. Ever since the scriptorium, he hadn’t gotten a good night’s sleep, the nightmare had kept replaying in his head.
-
You arrived back at the entrance of the Hufflepuff common room rather late in the night. It was passed curfew but you wanted to get all of Sirona’s lost letters back to her. Seeing the look on her face had made missing out on a few hours of sleep all worth it.
You startled when you saw a figure move out from the darkness. It was Sebastian, his eyes were red and puffy, dark circles had formed under them.
“Sebast -”
“Why’d you have me do it?” He demanded, his voice cracking. “Why couldn’t you -” He couldn’t stop the tears that fell. His shoulders began to shake as breathy sobs escaped him.
You ran up and pulled him into your arms, gently guiding his head down to your shoulder, and he let himself cry. “I’m okay. Everything’s okay.” You soothed.
He was the one who casted crucio on you, yet here you were comforting him. He felt worthless. You weren’t like anyone he had ever met. You never wanted anything in return, doing things purely out of the kindness of your heart even if it nearly killed you. He couldn’t grasp such a concept, and it overwhelmed him.
He went on his knees before you and took your hand into both of his. “Cast it on me. Please, it’s the only way I can make it all right. I did the wrong thing and I need to make it all right.” He pleaded.
You knelt on the ground with him, meeting his level. You pulled your hand from his and placed it on his cheek. You tried to meet his eyes. “Look at me. I will never do that to you.”
Though you meant for the words to comfort him, they felt like a knife to his chest. He smacked your hand away and scrambled to his feet, running out of sight.
He knew it then as he arrived back at his dorm room, and he let himself feel it entirely, as if he were punishing himself. He was in love with you, and he could never have you, not after everything he had done.
-
In the time that followed, Sebastian had wanted to act as if the scriptorium and his confrontation with you never happened. You kept an eye on him but went along with it. Your discreet meetings and his insults towards you resumed.
When Sebastian asked to meet briefly about information on a relic he had found in Salazar Slytherin’s spellbook, it was a good day for the both of you.
Your face was bright and ecstatic as you looked down at the thunderbrew potion in your hands. “It took me forever to get the ingredients, but I think I got a knack for brewing.” You couldn’t help but gush to Sebastian, trying to stifle your giggles and keep your voice low so no one around the two of you could hear.
Sebastian didn’t dare let it grow, but a charmed smile tugged at the corner of his lips. If he was going to react to you, he'd try to make it look like you were a nuisance to be around.
“Do you think if - well, I mean - what would you think if -” You began timidly, biting at your lip. Sebastian didn’t look at you, but he listened close, clinging to each word you left him on. “Do you think Garreth would be impressed if I showed him?”
And away went any temptation to smile, he opened the book in his hand to act like he was reading. He discovered that to be the consequence whenever he found himself being pulled towards you, he’d always get slapped with the reality that you were pulled towards Garreth. The other day, when everyone was standing around waiting for Defense Against the Dark Arts class to start, he caught sight of you looking out the window, the sunlight painted your features bewitchingly. He made his way over and saw you were watching Garreth playing Summoner’s Court. “Day dreaming you were actually useful in this class, Hufflepuff?” He had taunted. He’d claim it was to keep up the act but it was really in response to the hurt he felt. The pain only worsened when you glanced his way fleetingly and went right back to watching Garreth with undivided attention.
You noted his silence and felt stupid for even bringing it up to him. “Sorry, I got carried away. I know you don’t care.”
“I think Weasley will soil his breeches no matter what potion you show him.” He said bitterly. “Why do you think he’s so great anyway?”
You didn’t answer and Sebastian looked up to see your gaze following the red headed boy as he walked by, laughing along with a few other students. His stomach twisted uncomfortably and he looked back down to his book, eyes scanning the words but not taking them in.
“He’s the only person who’s been nice to me since day one. But I think that’s just who he is, looks like he’s nice to everyone.” You said the last part more to yourself. A chill went through the air and you began to shiver, seemingly too distracted to care due to where your attention laid.
“Where are your robes?” Sebastian tried to keep his voice monotone.
“Just forgot them is all.” Your eyes followed Garreth until he stopped walking to speak with some of his friends.
“Here. Take mine.” Sebastian exhaled as if he were annoyed, but he wasn’t. He was in earnest at the thought of wrapping you up in his robes.
You turned your attention back to him and shook your head. “No no, people will see. It’s alright.” Gaze returning to Garreth.
Sebastian stopped, robes halfway down his arms, then he shrugged them back on. “Oh... right.” He watched you shift back and forth on your feet, your fingers tapping against the potion’s flask. He could see the ache to run to the Gryffindor clear as day on your face.
“Send me an owl if anything else comes up for the relic.” You said without looking at him, and made your way over to Garreth.
He knew he should turn the other way and act like he was never speaking to you in the first place, as he always did after your furtive meetups. Yet his eyes remained glued to your form. As he watched you talking to Garreth with a beaming smile, laughing along with him as you showed him your thunderbrew potion, insurmountable heartache filled his chest.
It had finally hit him how he couldn’t care less what people thought, they didn’t even know you. No one knew you like he did, especially not Weasley. If everyone saw you through his eyes, they could easily see you were one of the most capable people at Hogwarts. If all it took to win you over was being kind to you since the beginning, he wanted to kick himself. I’ve been the biggest prat.
How could he have treated you the way he had? Asking for your help all this time, but not wanting to be seen with you in public. He had been nothing short of a coward. His fear of what others thought had led him to lose any chance with you. You were the one that’s helped him through this nightmare of a curse on his sister, you were the one willing to take on immense agony in the scriptorium for him, you were the one he yearned for. He could say the same for none of these people.
The blood drained from Sebastian’s face when he witnessed Garreth slip off his Gryffindor robes and put them on you. It was as if the wind was knocked out of him, his breathing started coming out shallow. He told himself to get out of there.
The first place he could think of was his dorm. He had tunnel vision the whole way there, a few students had asked if he was feeling alright as he passed. He waved them off, saying something about a potion brew gone wrong, he couldn’t fully remember. When he got to his dorm room, he burst through the door and sat at the edge of his bed. He leaned forward with his elbows on his knees and tried to steady his breathing. As soon as the sick feeling in his stomach started to dissipate, he laid back, throwing an arm over his eyes.
“What’s gotten into you?” Ominis asked, sitting himself on his own bed.
It took Sebastian a moment to be able to speak. He swallowed the lump in his throat and took a deep breath. “Nothing, I’m fine. Just feeling a little sick is all.”
“Is this about the Hufflepuff who helped us in the sciptorium?”
He couldn’t bring himself to say anything, and that was the only answer Ominis needed.
“Nobody cares you know. Sure it’s fun to make fun of a Hufflepuff, that’s nothing new. And one that developed their magic so late? Easy target. But in the end, no one cares. After everything that’s happened, it’s no surprise you feel the way you do.” Ominis never hesitated to call people out, but every now and then he had a way of saying what needed to be said without making someone feel too ashamed.
Sebastian should have known this, he should have had this conversation with himself before it could have gotten this far. He felt like such a child then, laying in his bed, pouting at the predicament he put himself in. But it was hard to pick himself back up, he felt his relationship with you was unsalvageable at this point and it was his fault. He was the nuisance you had to put up with because of that pesky Hufflepuff loyalty of yours, and Garreth was your escape. Garreth could make you happy just by being in your line of sight. He could only dream of having that effect on you at this point.
-
Sebastian had searched for you all day but to no avail. As a last resort, he made his way to the undercroft, he cringed thinking back on the time he first showed it to you. “I’m only showing you this place so we won’t be seen working together. You’re not welcome here if I’m not here.” It wasn’t true, but how would you have ever known otherwise? He had been so cruel to you, it was no wonder you wanted to run into Garreth’s arms. He had practically shoved you his way.
The sound of sniffling stopped him in his tracks. He pressed forward cautiously and saw you were sitting on the floor against the wall with your head down.
“What’s happened?” Sebastian strode up and knelt before you.
“Oh! Sebastian.” You startled. “I - I’m sorry, I’ll leave. Just allergies. Came down here to escape all that pollen.” You wiped at your face quickly, he could tell your eyes were puffy from crying.
His inner voice was screaming at him that this was his chance, as of that moment he could start taking steps in the right direction with you. He could become the person you wanted, slowly but surely. “Talk to me.” He sat beside you and took your hand in his, he began stroking it with his thumb in hopes it gave you some comfort.
You were taken aback by his actions, but then surmised that was probably how much he pitied you. You felt humiliated at the thought. The Hufflepuff got caught crying like a sad baby bird in the rain, who wouldn’t feel bad? You pulled your hand free from his. “It’s nothing, I just needed a moment. I’m truly sorry I came down here without you, I couldn’t think of any other place. I - I panicked.” You got up and began your escape out. “It won’t happen again.”
Sebastian tripped over himself as he went to chase after you. He ran up and wrapped his arms around you from behind, holding you in place. “Don’t go. Please, talk to me.”
His touch felt wrong to you and you slid free from his embrace. You didn’t feel safe with Sebastian, you didn’t feel safe with anyone at Hogwarts for that matter. But the look on his face had convinced you somewhat he wanted to know what was wrong. “I just had a bad day.”
He took a step towards you, hoping you would keep going.
You rolled your eyes at the foolishness you felt. “I worked up the courage to speak to Garreth about how I felt and -” You stopped and shook your head. “This is stupid, I don’t know why I’m telling you this -”
“What did he do?” His voice was direct, body stiffening.
You let out a sigh, hating that you were revisiting the memory. You looked down and began twiddling your thumbs. “I told Garreth how I felt and asked him on a date to The Three Broomsticks. He laughed in my face and said no. Said he’d be friendly with me in public but he wasn’t going to be seen on a date with me. And then he said we could still have some fun in private together.” You recalled the incident, disgusted. “But what else should I have expected? You said it yourself, no one wants to be seen with someone like me.”
Sebastian had never seen your features turn so harsh, and he hadn’t hated himself more than he did in that moment. "I never should have said that to you. Please, you have to know I never meant it.”
Your eyes didn’t meet his, he could tell you were still angry, not just with him, but with the world. He was surprised you didn’t get to this point sooner. Hufflepuffs really could put up with a lot before they’d had enough.
Sure, he wanted you to have feelings for him, but more than anything he wanted you to be happy, even if it wasn’t with him. Seeing your hurt expression then, he wanted to step up more than ever. “No good prick.” Sebastian dug his heels in the ground to storm out of the undercroft. “I’m going to kill him.”
Your eyes went wide. “What? No, it’s alright! Forget I said anything!” You grabbed his wrist trying to hold him back, but he just kept walking, dragging you along with him. “W - What happened to staying out of each other’s lives? You don’t owe me anything, Sebastian! Just drop it!”
Sebastian stopped to face you, he used the grip you had on his wrist and yanked you to him. He steadied you as you crashed into him, taking your face in his other hand and placing his lips atop yours. He wanted to convey everything he felt for you in that kiss, every thank you he should have said, every apology he should have made. You didn’t deserve any of the treatment you got at Hogwarts, especially from him.
His brows furrowed as he deepened the kiss. He tried to be tender, but the urgency was what took over with how he moved his lips against yours. Your grip fell from his wrist in shock and he used his now free hand to grab your waist and pull you flush to him. He felt you kiss him back, but with hesitancy, and then you pushed him away.
He looked at your stunned expression, “This feels wrong.” You whispered.
Shoving down the sting he felt at your rejection, he strode out of the undercroft, leaving you standing there, dumbfounded.
-
Sebastian spotted Garreth in the middle of the quidditch field, joking around with some friends. “Oi, Weasley!” He called as he strode up to the red head.
Garreth turned away from his group. “Yeah? What is it, Sall-” His words were cutoff when Sebastian punched him square in the jaw. He shot a hand up to where the throbbing began to kick in. “What in Merlin’s na - OOMF!” Sebastian rammed into his gut, tackling him to the ground. It finally kicked in what was happening and Garreth began to shove and punch back. Nearby students gathered around in a circle, hooting and hollering for them to keep going.
“Show that Gryffindor how it’s done, Sallow!”
“Get him good, Weasley!”
“Levioso!” Sebastian and Garreth were pulled apart and lifted into the air at Madam Kogawa’s spell cast. The two boys eyed each other, bruised and bloody, wanting to go back at it as she approached.
“I see detentions are in order.”
-
When Garreth confronted him, demanding what his deal was, Sebastian had dug into him. Shoving his finger into his chest, telling him he didn’t deserve someone like you.
“Oh please, as if you’re not doing the exact same thing. Everyone sees the ‘secret’ meetings the two of you have. I hardly think you’re the person to fault me.”
Sebastian couldn’t say anything in retaliation, because he was right. He deserved every punch and kick Weasley landed. But things were different now, and he was going to stop at nothing to prove it to you.
-
Sebastian leaned against the kegs just outside the Hufflepuff common room. He stood up straight when the entrance opened and you stepped out. Your gaze landed on him and your face twisted at his state.
“Are you alright?” You ran up to him and gently grabbed his chin to begin examining his bruising. Remembering you two weren’t in private, you yanked your hand back. “Sorry.” You glanced around to make sure no one had seen. It pained him, that after all the time you spent together, this was the habit he enforced in you. He grabbed at your hand and placed it against his cheek.
“I’m fine.” He thought about his next words carefully. “I'm not ashamed to be seen with you.” He began. “I’m so sorry I ever told you I was. I haven’t been there for you. If I could go back, I’d do it all differently. I really would.”
You avoided his gaze and looked down, pulling your hand away. His touch still felt wrong, and thinking about his kiss in the undercroft made you just as uneasy. Everything was so backwards, your mind couldn’t keep up. Not long ago, Garreth was the one being kind to you while Sebastian was itching to get as far away from you as possible. And now, Garreth had you repulsed and Sebastian had an avid interest to be by your side. You were in a constant state of confusion and had a strange desire for things to go back to how they were.
“Sebastian...” Your defenses went up as he moved closer to you, wanting to show you he was listening. “I’m going to be honest, I don’t believe you. All year you’ve dreaded being around me and now I’m supposed to believe your feelings changed just like that?”
Sebastian nodded his head, seeing what you were saying. He shouldn’t have expected you to be okay with all this just because he said so. “I understand. I’ve been awful to you. But I can make it all up to you, you’ll see. I can be what you want.”
You tried to search his eyes for some sort of reason for this shift in him, still not really taking in his words. “I think I need some space.” You were sick of boys playing with your feelings like this. There was only so much you could take. Pretty impressive trait of Hufflepuffs, anyone else would have felt worn thin ages ago.
Sebastian swallowed thickly and nodded his head. He forced a polite smile and left at the nearest floo.
He needs his space too. You thought. That way he’ll get over these feelings he supposedly has for you. You didn’t believe him for a second. You’ve seen other students swooning over each other. It definitely wasn’t what was happening between you and Sebastian Sallow. The only experiences you’ve had with him were secret meetings and him getting humiliated if someone associated the two of you together. He expected all that to just go away with one secret kiss? It wasn’t going to happen.
Maybe he went after someone else and they rejected him, and he was so desperate for affection he came to me. You concluded.
-
The days that followed, Sebastian kept his distance from you without really keeping his distance. Every morning, he got up early to get a flower from the fields surrounding Hogwarts, each one different than the day before. Whenever you got up from your desk or left your books unattended, he would cast the disillusionment spell on himself and place the flower in your book for you to stumble across later.
He didn’t need to see your reaction to it, but every now and then if you were in the same area, he’d be on the lookout for it. Sebastian watched from afar as you began looking through your book on a bench in the Transfiguration Courtyard. But his blood started to boil when he saw Garreth make his way over and sit down next to you.
You looked up from your book, a questioning look on your face.
Garreth was visibly nervous and wouldn’t meet your eyes. “I wanted to apologize for how I spoke to you the other day. My mother raised me better than that.”
You hummed as you looked across his features, noticing he was bruised up like Sebastian was. “What happened to you?”
Garreth scratched the back of his head. “Got some sense knocked into me by your friend, Sallow.”
“He’s not my friend.” You said plainly, trying to bring your attention back to your book. A part of you was annoyed Sebastian had actually followed through with going after Garreth, and another part was a little pleased the both of them landed strikes on the other.
He looked to your face then. “I really do like you, you know.” He confessed, and you returned his gaze. He was looking at you like he was sorry this wasn’t what he had said to you in the first place. “But I felt the pressure of everyone, and I told myself I should be embarrassed to be around you. But I’m not. Everyone else can sod off, I can see everything you’re doing even if they refuse to. You’re nothing short of incredible. I truly am sorry for what I said.”
You gave him a small nod. “Apology accepted.”
He smiled and let out a sigh of relief, then held out his hand. “Friends?”
You took it and shook. “Friends.”
He held your hand in his when you tried to pull away. “Don’t suppose that date to Three Broomsticks is still on the table?”
You scoffed but went silent when you saw he was serious. You shook your head and pulled your hand from his grasp.
“Right.” He looked down dejectedly. “Guess I deserved that, didn’t I?” He chuckled awkwardly, getting up and clearing his throat. “I’ll see you around then.” His voice was strained.
Sebastian watched as Garreth left you and made his way over to him. The red head gave him a cordial slap on the shoulder as he walked passed. “Looks like we both blew it, Sallow.”
-
You hated to admit it, but Sebastian was making some headway with you. It had been at least a few weeks since you told him you needed space, and he had given it to you. You thought it would be the easiest thing in the world for him to do, but he looked like he was struggling. Every time you caught each other’s eye, he looked like he was holding his breath, hoping that would be the day you’d approach him. You thought it’d wear off after a bit, and the distance between the two of you would have him come to his senses. But he seemed undeterred, just as dedicated as the day before if not more so.
You especially hated to admit that every time you found a flower in your books, the flutter in your chest would grow. Each time you needed to talk yourself down, because any day now Sebastian would give up and go back to only wanting to see you about his progress on getting a cure for Anne.
But then you’d think about how he kissed you. There was so much need in it. In the moment it felt off. But the more your revisited the memory, thinking back on how his lips moved against yours, you got this feeling of being genuinely wanted, perfectly safe. And that sense came from Sebastian Sallow of all people?
You watched him as he took notes in charms class. He was pretty good looking, wasn’t he? You came to notice these passed few weeks now that he was being kind to you.
He looked up from his notes and glanced your way. You held his gaze when he did, giving him a soft smile. His eyes grew wide and he became fidgety in his seat. He smiled back and his ears burned red. It was the most he’d gotten from you and he didn’t know how to handle it.
You looked back down to your notes and he looked back down at his, trying to contain his giddiness. He felt like he made a huge leap in progress and he couldn’t wait to keep going. It was just a smile, but it was the only sign he needed that he was headed in the right direction with you. He wondered if he should keep going with the flowers or step it up a bit. He wanted to respect your wishes and keep his distance, but he also wanted to do more for you.
He was so lost in thought, he didn’t notice you approach when class was dismissed. “Sebastian?”
He stiffened, panic flooding through him. He was mentally preparing to chase after you from afar, he didn’t think he’d have the right words to say face to face yet. But he willed himself to speak anyway. “Yes?”
“Walk with me to herbology?” You eyed him, like you were testing him.
Sebastian knew what you were doing, this would be the first time he’d be seen with you in public willingly and not act like he was being forced to speak with you. Bring it on. “Of course.” Sebastian grabbed your books and smiled at your surprised expression. “Come on then.”
You joined his side and as you walked with him, you noticed he wasn’t rushing. He was taking his time getting to your next class. You had to admit, you expected him to want to speed up the process to get it over with and minimize the amount of people who saw the two of you together. But instead, he let himself look smitten as he stood by your side.
The whispers and glances started up as the two of you walked along. He looked to you and noticed you didn’t seem quite as at ease as he was. He gave you a playful nudge with his shoulder and you couldn’t fight the smile that graced your lips. He was making butterflies dance in your stomach and a funny ache for him grew. You peeked back at him and the way he was smiling at you made you want to tug at his tie and have him kiss you senseless again. Calm down, don’t let him win you over yet. You lectured yourself.
When the two of you arrived in herbology, he made sure to grab a potting station next to yours. Professor Garlick called everyone up to grab some seeds for the day’s class. As you were about to go up with everyone else, he wrapped an arm around your waist to stop you. “I’ll get it.” He said in a low tone near your ear. His hand lingered and dragged across your waist until he was too far to touch you anymore. He shot you a smirk over his shoulder as he walked away.
That funny ache you felt turned into something simmering hot within you. When he came back with the mallowsweet seeds, he took your hand in his and placed them on your palm. His fingers dragged across your hand and you peered at him through your lashes.
“Be careful.” He said, releasing you and turning to his potting station. “You look like you want to kiss me.”
A burning sensation hit your cheeks and you turned to your own station. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Silly me then.”
The two of you focused, or at least tried to, on your pots before you. You planted the seeds and padded down the soil, then awaited further instruction from Professor Garlick. But you tuned her words out as you eyed Sebastian up and down. Thankfully, you were already experienced with mallowsweet, so you weren’t too concerned about falling behind.
Sebastian watched you through the corner of his eye, he could feel your eyes on him and it drove him mad. As soon as class was over, he was going to try to reenact the first time he demanded your help. Except this time when he pulled you into a hidden corner, there wouldn’t be as much talking. His jaw clenched at the anticipation.
You usually enjoyed herbology, but that day’s class was dragging on a little too long. Your mind billowed with thoughts of Sebastian’s lips and ideas of how you were going to get them back on yours.
“Class dismissed.” Professor Garlick sang. You and Sebastian immediately looked to one another, knowing exactly what you wanted to do, but unsure how you were going to get there.
“I think I -” You began, not really knowing where you were going to take your words. “I think I left something in the undercroft.”
Sebastian didn’t say anything as he grabbed your hand and pulled you along.
Once the two of you arrived in the undercroft, he closed the gate behind you and pressed you up against the nearest wall, slamming his mouth against yours. The two of you wanted to devour each other whole. A muffled moan escaped you and you cupped his face in your hands. His hands gripped your hips greedily as he tried to savor every sound he could get from you.
Unable to keep in one place long with so much of you available to him, he began kissing along your jaw, down your neck, below your ear. He could feel you quiver at his kisses and he wanted to do everything he could to keep you squirming.
You whimpered, and he knew he found the spot below your ear to be your weakness. “I... I think we left our books in herbology.” You breathed pleasantly as he kept at it.
Sebastian hummed as he continued his magic. “Such a shame.” He knew he still had a ways to go with you. No matter how long it would take him, he was going to make things right. But if he could tempt you into a kiss here and there along the way, he hoped you wouldn’t mind.

Coffee Beans (love you a latte)
Pairing: Sebastian Sallow x reader
Word Count: 2k
Synopsis: After a sudden breakup, you find yourself reuniting with your estranged best friend over lattes in a small coffee shop.
Tumblr media
Sebastian sits next to you in the corner of a tiny coffee shop in London, his lanky frame barely filling out the spine of the chair. His fingertips tap against the burning porcelain cup nestled between his palms, the steam curling from the top of the cup in a ghastly swirl. He stares down at it in a sleepy daze, perplexed about why he’s here after you’d successful banished him for six months for the sake of your Gryffindor boyfriend, Garreth Weasley.
The silver-charmed bell nailed to the worn door of the tucked away coffee shop had ding-donged upon your arrival, coming to a halt seconds after the warmth of late Spring rolled in with you. Sebastian hadn’t as much as uttered a hello when you’d greeted him at the edge of the sticky counter upon your arrival in your own tone of weariness. He had barely glanced at you to take in your new shoulder length curls and freshly cut bangs, nor the healing of the scar left behind on the right side of your neck after your battle with Ranrok. The battle had been a year ago. The hair cut, only a couple days old. Surely he’d noticed your fading scar in the passings in the corridors or when he’d catch Garreth consoling you after a long day during dinner in The Great Hall. But he hated it, you know he hates it all.
“Seb—“ you whisper, starting slow, softly.
“Does he know you’re here?” He interrupts, eyes low and focused on the frothy milk overlaying his coffee.
You sputter softly, attempting to swallow a scoff, but knowing the question is valid. You’re the one that stopped hanging out with Sebastian. It felt appropriate once you realized Garreth’s request wasn’t entirely unreasonable.
The smell of freshly poured coffee beans and the humming of the expresso machine pulls your attention for a moment. The distant clinking of a spoon hitting the wall of a porcelain cup, the tear of a sugar packet or two, the frothing sound of whipped cream topping a to-go order, a soft piano melody flowing throughout the space. You think of Garreth alone in his dorm right now, using the quiet to think up whatever scenarios that ransack his brain whenever you two part.
“He doesn’t.”
A smug smirk appears on the corner of his lips, then falls back into a pensive pout. He shuffles in his seat, slowly opening up to you, chest coming into view first. His eyes roam over the empty tables beyond you, then you as if they’ve waited years to do so, and your shoulders shrink in relief.
Gazing back at him, you can’t believe you’d actually gone a full minute without engaging with your best friend. You must’ve been cursed to have gone a full six months with no contact, aside from passings in the hallway and The Great Hall. In the realization of it all, you’re thankful he hasn’t changed, not one bit, and you’re eager to pick up where you’d left off. At least in this moment, you believe you are.
“What’s my mortal enemy up to this time, if not courting you over breakfast? You two snog so much over morning pumpkin juice that the thought alone makes me want to hurl.”
Your cheeks burn hot at the thought of Sebastian seeing you kiss Garreth—watching, so much that it bothers him, haunts his thoughts and makes him sick to his stomach when he’s not even around.
“Garreth’s Garreth… You know, concocting strange inventions and attempting to find subjects to test them on. But that’s not why you agreed to come, not to speak about him...”
“I still don’t understand it all,” he starts. “He knows I’ve been in your life long before you saved that damned school. We were the best of friends, closer than Ominis and I. That was a threat to him and he deliberately complained that I was trying to steal you from him. Why?”
You avoid his eyes, once against knowing he’s right. Yet, Sebastian always manages to dismiss the events leading up to the main issue.
“Seb—“
He takes a long sip of his latte and readjusts, leaning back against the spine of the rattan chair before meeting your eyes again.
“Sebastian, he saw you kiss me…”
His cheeks turn as red as the cherry tomatoes in his uncle’s garden back in Feldcroft. As the realization settles in, there’s a long silence between the two of you. Had Sebastian not kissed you knowing you were still dating Garreth at the time, you wouldn’t have had to wedge so much distance. His excuse of drinking too much Butterbeer wasn’t a good enough explanation and Garreth had given you the ultimatum. You’d never seen him so upset. And as much as you wanted to defend Sebastian, your best friend, he was being reckless, jealous and territorial over something that didn’t belong to him. Even you couldn’t hide from that truth.
“I don’t regret it,” he says curtly, words cutting through your thoughts like a freshly sharpened dagger. “I would’ve kissed you a hundred times more had you not carved me out. Garreth doesn’t know you. He wasn’t there. He was working on dumb potions and those damned trick jellybeans while you and I were out there in the real world. Fighting goblins, trying to find a cure for Anne, piecing together Isidora’s triptych... We were risking our lives while he dallied around playing games. He’s never put his life on the line for you, Y/n.”
You scoff loudly, cheeks burning as hot as the untouched cup in front of you. You hate that he’s right every single time, but that means nothing right now. You liked Garreth. You loved his immaturity, his view of seeing some things in life differently. He showed you that everything didn’t always need to be taken seriously and Sebastian didn’t respect it.
“After Ranrok, Garreth was there.”
“Damn right he was,” Sebastian curses. “He was there like the rest, groveling at your feet after you’d saved the entire school. Everyone showered you in false love and compliments. I’ve loved you from the start.”
Your heart wrenches.
Not once has Sebastian admitted to loving you, ever. There were hints, signs. He was around so much that he’d practically become your shadow. He’s become more familiar than the lines on your palms or the spells you’d practiced endlessly into perfection. Your partnership in Crossed Wands and helping him find a cure for his sister had turned into a quickly blossoming friendship. You’d even found yourself thinking of him late at night when you should’ve been focused on planning for the doom that crawled closer— Rookwood, Ranrok, untamable ancient magic, the list could go on and on, but all you could think about was Sebastian Sallow.
A part of you was relieved when he’d asked you to dance at Natty’s party; you needed a moment away from Garreth, a moment to breathe. Though, you never expected Sebastian to take your breath away. You still remember the heavy smell of spiked Butterbeer on his lips, the sweet, thick taste of butterscotch and the scent of burnt timber lingering between you two. He’d been practicing Confringo again in The Undercroft beforehand. And the kiss felt like a dream, pulling everything you’d ever felt about him into a neat package with a shiny green bow. You just hadn’t expected Garreth to see it. And when he did, he knew Sebastian had to go, even if it killed you.
“We broke up,” you finally find the courage to speak.
That’s the reason you’d sent your white-feathered owl, Nora, to Sebastian two nights ago. Two days more without him felt like an eternity and you weren’t sure he’d show after all this time. You’d only hoped.
“I’m not surprised. You wouldn’t be here had it not happened, you’re too loyal. Maybe my tiny presence in your life of seeing you in passings has become too unbearable. He’d have me exiled if it were up to him.”
“I mean… I broke up with him. Six months was too long, Sebastian, and you didn’t even try to weasel your way back in. You just—you just let me go. You made it look so easy.”
“Easy!? Have I not suffered enough? Put myself on the line for you so many times? And need I remind you, you chose Weasley over me? That was your doing, Y/n,” he rants. “Looks can be deceiving, but I knew you’d come back. That’s what happens to the things we lose that are meant to be. And in those six months, I suffered, endlessly. Ominis could hardly stand my sulking much more before Nora showed with your letter. To think, all the times he told me I should admit how I felt, even during those six months, I didn’t listen. I didn’t want to ruin your perfect relationship with Garreth, or rather, I couldn’t. You would’ve hated me. I’m stubborn like you’ve said before, but I know, truly, that I’ve loved you and I still do now. No dumbwitted Gryffindor can change that.”
You can’t take it anymore, the racing of your heart, the heaviness of abandoning him. You couldn’t be with Garreth when your heart and soul craved Sebastian. You broke Garreth’s heart to be here, but that was something you could live with. Abandoning Sebastian wasn’t. It pulled and tugged at you in the worst and best of times. It haunted you when you were alone, when you were kissing Garreth, when he’d stay the night to cuddle in your dorm. Your mind had always gone back to the reckless, brown eyed, freckle faced Slytherin right in front of you.
“I love you too, you know?” You mutter nonchalantly, hoping the words don’t go straight to his skull. “I think it was destined to happen the day we met… when we dueled in Defense Against the Dark Arts.”
He smiles charmingly, attempting to hold back a smirk and a teasing laugh at the distant memory. Because why wouldn’t you have fallen for him? His sarcasm, charms and good looks were always there.
“I really knew when you opened up to me about your sister,” you continue. “When you realized you could do the important things without me, yet you still wanted me there. Even when it went against your best friend or your better judgment. You allowed me to see you, all of you. All the good and bad, Sebastian, and I love every single part of you.”
Sebastian’s eyes meet yours again, heavy, tired, and holding back tears. He’s missed you more than you’ll ever know, probably more than you missed him since you had Garreth to fill the void. Your voice, he missed the most. Your laughter, your deadpan humor and crappy puns. He missed the way you smelled, some muggle perfume you’d spritz yourself with in the mornings that made you smell of fresh flowers. A charm followed that you’d found in a book to make it last all day. He missed the way your skin and hair glistened in the moonlight when you’d both sneak out to fly broomsticks to Hogsmeade for a Butterbeer or two while the others slept. He missed practicing in The Undercroft with you, and Ominis lecturing him on the way back to the dorms about how he could feel the love in the air. He missed the warmth of you lying your head in his lap to vent to him under the old beech tree near Black Lake. He’d fallen in love with the sight of golden speckles reflecting in your irises when the branches began to sway just right with the breeze, exposing your features to the sun’s rays. He missed your smile, your lips, the way you’d tie your robe at your waist instead of wearing it. He missed and loved all of you. And he can’t fight the urge anymore. The heaviness of his own heart won’t let him, not with you this close, and not knowing that you’re no longer accounted for.
“We should get out of here, others might report back that you’ve gotten over your heartbreak rather quickly. Wouldn’t want that getting back to that poor Gryffindor of yours.”
“He’s not mine anymore,” you grumble and pinch Sebastian’s arm with a giggle. “But you’re right, we should go.”
“You still have that Room of Requirement? I think a single bed will suffice.”
You roll your eyes, holding back a giggle at his obviousness.
“We’ll go to my dorm first,” you reply before pecking a quick kiss on the corner of his lips that leaves his cheeks blushing. “Then, we’ll see if we truly require the room.”
He takes your hand in his right and leads you out of the tiny coffee shop. The silver bell ding dongs against the door once more, ushering you both into the warmth of Spring. And with a smile on his face, he’s ready to apparate anywhere in the world, as long as you promise to remain by his side.

We’ll Keep Each Other Warm
Summary: Sebastian wants to swap scarves with MC. Also kissing. (Sebastian Sallow x Hufflepuff f!MC)
Rating: PG
Warnings: None!
Word count: 500
A/N: inspired by this post by @witchywriter18, I combined the scarf bit with another idea I had. I think they’re stronger together just like Sebastian and MC. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
Their empty butter beer glasses clinked as MC and Sebastian set them down on the table. They were celebrating the end of a rather lovely Christmas break, like all the other students that had crowded into the Three Broomsticks, and had spent the better part of the day talking about, well, everything.
“Back to Hogwarts, then?” Sebastian nodded to the darkening sky outside the window.
“Probably best.”
MC reached across the table and picked up her scarf. She almost had it halfway on when she realized the colors were wrong. “Sorry Sebastian, I-“
She looked up to find that Sebastian had taken her Hufflepuff scarf, and already settled it around his neck. He grinned at her over the stripes of black and yellow. “Go on then, wear it.”
Grinning despite herself, MC wound the green and silver scarf around her neck, draping it over her shoulders. She breathed in, letting his Slytherin scent fill her nose. A mixture of Feldcroft pine, library books, and dittany. It made her wonder what Sebastian was smelling on her scarf now… probably niffler.
Snow covered the roofs and lanes of Hogsmeade. More fell around them now, though it had slowed a great deal. The fresh powder was hiding patches of ice, which MC discovered quite by accident. One misplaced step sent her reeling, but she righted herself before she could fall into the snowbank beside the path.
Sebastian took her arm, laughing. “I think someone had one butterbeer too many tonight.”
“Nonsense! I just slipped on some ice.”
“That delightful flush on your cheeks says otherwise. Rather a good look on you.” The lightness in his tone and mischief in his eyes made MC’s stomach flip.
Or maybe she did have one too many butterbeers.
Sebastian cupped her face in his gloved hands, thumbs tracing the curves of her cheeks. They leaned closer, lips about to touch, when one of them found the icy patch again. With nothing to grab onto but each other, Sebastian and MC tumbled into the drift of snow. MC grunted as Sebastian’s weight pressed her into the ground, and he quickly raised himself up on his arms.
“Sorry,” he said, the flush in his cheeks matching hers.
MC grabbed him by the scarf - her scarf - and pulled him into a kiss. For a moment she thought they might melt the snow piled around them. When their lips finally parted, icy flakes still surrounded them, clinging to their hair and clothes.
“Sebastian?”
“Yes, MC?”
“It’s really cold down here.”
“That it is.” A little reluctantly, he stood and offered her a hand up.
They were more careful of the road as they trekked back to Hogwarts. That wasn’t the only thing that kept their arms linked and their shoulders huddled close, though.
Sebastian insisted on walking her back to the Hufflepuff common room, even though his joke about her overindulgence in butterbeer was long forgotten. They stopped to say goodnight at the top of the staircase that led down to the kitchens.
“Don’t you want your scarf back?” MC asked, fingering the wool at her throat.
“Nope,” said Sebastian, grinning. “I’m keeping yours. We’ll switch for a while.”
“But…”
“We can keep each other warm even when we’re apart.”
Speechless and blushing, MC noted the satisfied grin at her reaction. He turned and headed toward the Slytherin common room, calling over his shoulder in a singsong voice, “Good night, MC.”

something like, confingo?
pairing: Sebastian sallow x y/n
summary: you are teaching Sebastian a new spell in the undercroft when some talks of feelings start to slip out
warnings: fluff story !! yes there is a kiss mwah
note: little sebastian and you moment :) let’s pretend for the sake of this story he doesn’t know bombarda or never learned it or whatever heh
Tumblr media
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
“that’s not how you do it at all!” you exclaim towards your best friend who was doing the motion of a spell you had recently learned wrong. every time one of you learns something new, it’s almost never longer than a day that goes by that the other knows how to do it as well.
“Where did you even learn this spell? i’ve never been taught this by professor hecat” Sebastian says while still practicing the hand motions for bombarda
“here let me show you again” you say raising your wand up readying yourself to go through it again
“how about you give me a easier way to learn it rather than me just watching you” Sebastian says, slightly annoyed that he cant get it correctly
“hmm okay fine, here” you walk over placing your hand over his with his wand in his hand. you begin moving his hand in the motion of the spell
“just like that” you say while repeating the motion over and over again.
he audibly hear Sebastian gulp while staring at your hands on top of each other.
your face starts to turn slightly pink as you back up from him, allowing him to accomplish the spell himself now
“i think it’s my favorite spell so far that i’ve been taught, great for blasting mean goblins” you say with a smile, adjusting your scarf around your neck
“so it’s something like, confingo?” he says noting that you said ‘blasting spell’
“yeah, just like your favorite!” you state smiling up at him
he smiles back and practices the motion you had just shown him. visibly getting nervous as he realizes he was more focused on your hands touching then paying attention to the motion of the spell you were teaching him
you notice the struggle and sigh walking over to nearby wall to sit down, patting the spot next to you motioning him over
“we can always do it another time, you’ll get it” you say positively
he plops down next to you with a sigh
“i think you were distracting me” he sighs out, closing his eyes and leaning his head against the wall
“oh yeah? how so mr sallow?” you say, meaning your head against the wall as well
he doesn’t respond for a second, as if he was thinking very hard about what to say next
“just… you” he says in a low tone
“and what did i do?”
“everything about you y/n” he says opening his eyes, turning his head towards you
you stare back at him with some shock and slight confusion
“i think i might need more of an explanation” you respond back
“y/n… everything about you distracts me” he admits while looking into your eyes deeply
“i know we are best friends but sometimes i think of you more. now you can hit me and tell me off like you usually do but i just felt it was time to say it…” he admits to you with a hopeful face
you feel an immediate rush of heat to your cheeks as you stare back
“Sebastian, i-“
“you really don’t have to answer if you don’t have anything to say” he cuts you off
“hey no, i’m happy Sebastian. I feel the same…” you say smiling up at him, grabbing his hand into yours
“are you sure that was a blasting spell you were teaching me, or a truth spell?” he asks laughing slightly, looking down at your hands intertwined together
you chuckle a little a place your head against his shoulder
“i never get tired of these moments with you in the undercroft” you admit, looking at the rest of the room in front of you
“me as well, these moments are always my favorite part of the day” he says back, leaning his head slightly against yours
“i love it when anne and ominous are here as well but…” you trail off
“it’s better when it’s just us?” he finishes the sentence for you
“yeah… definitely” you say removing your head and looking into his eyes
he leans in slowly, leaving your breath hitched as you watch closely for his next moves
soon enough, you feel his lips pressed to yours ever so softly. you melt into his as you two share the moment
butterflies fireworks explosions
everything was perfect in the moment. you felt on top of the world with his lips upon yours
after a few moments you both pull away, breathless and in awe
“now that was something” sebastian speaks up, with a small smirk plastering his face
you giggle and ruffle his hair causing him to yelp a “heyyy”
“i don’t mind having more of those if that means i get to be your girlfriend” you say pulling your hands away from his curly hair
he smiles, practically from ear to ear leaning back into you, giving you a quick peck on your lips
“i guess that means you are my girlfriend now y/n”

A Smile that Doesn't Reach the Eyes 〃由☆
Tumblr media
(Professor) Sebastian Sallow x Dark gn!reader ((((ヽ(;^^)/
Summary: Unfortunately for Sebastian was forced by Headmaster Black to mandate a team of students to help decorate hogwarts Castle for Halloween. However, even after letting students know in his several classes, only one person turns up. [Y/N] [L/N].
A/N: Hello, lovelies. I've got so much inspiration that I decided to make a part 3, I really hope you enjoy this, I've decided to make this into a series (this time I'm determined to keep it going). Also, I took the liberties to change the origins of Halloween in this fic, and I learned a lot from my research, Halloween is actually about honouring the dead not the worshiping of the occult!
Warnings: Mentions of imprisonment and being condemned for a crime.

'Hello sir, um...I'm here to help with the decorating." As you walked through the door.
Sebastian issued a call out for help with decorating, only you had volunteered.
"Ah,[Y/N]," he greets back as he sees you. "Come to help with the decorations, I see? Are you the only one here, then?" Sebastian asks, his voice being calm and soft.
"It seems so," you chuckled.
"I guess you're stuck with me, Professor!"
"Well, at least you're here," Sebastian chuckles and smiles. He was genuinely pleased that you had turned up, especially because it meant that he wouldn't be doing the preparation alone.
"So, I suppose we should start at the Great Hall. What do you think, [Y/N]?" the Professor asks, his tone now more enthusiastic and upbeat as they begin getting on with the task.
"I think that's the best place to start," you replied serenely.
"Alright," Sebastian says, beginning to walk towards the corridor that led to the Great Hall. "Do you have any particular ideas for the decor?" he asks [Y/N], hoping that you will have some creative ideas for the decoration. You were a student, after all, a creative and young one at that.
"Maybe in the corners of the great hall, we can add some cobwebs from the corner and hang them across to the middle of the hall, kind of like a canopy, " you gesture to the corners of the room.
"That's a good idea, [Y/N]," Sebastian says, nodding in approval. "Hanging the spider decoration from the corner ceiling and having them cover the area with webs is very creative," he adds. Sebastian has to admit, despite your liking spiders, he was impressed with your creativity to include them in the decorations. "You seem to be creative," the Professor says, wanting to praise his student's unique ideas.
"Thank you, sir. I try." You say drly.
Sebastian smiles, his expression becoming more excited. He knew there was more to the student than anyone else knew, and he was proud that you didn't try to act like every other student but yourself.
"Are you going to dress up for Halloween, [Y/N]?" the Professor asks, genuinely interested. "Most students do, you know?"
"Nope," you say, putting emphasis on the 'p'.
Sebastian tilted his head, a little confused by your answer. "You're... not going to dress up for Halloween? Is there a particular reason why?" he asks [Y/N]. "Or do you just prefer not to wear costumes?"
"I think the costume idea of Halloween is terrible. Halloween is a time when muggles used to hunt us witches and wizards and burn them at the stake!" You say passionately.
Sebastian took a moment to absorb your answer, your reasoning for not dressing up on Halloween, making sense to him. "You know...I never thought of it that way," Sebastian admitted. "I always thought it was about children dressing up, trick or treating, and scaring each other," the Professor laughed, realising that his perception was wrong. "But, I can understand how it's a controversial holiday then," he adds.
"I don't think it's worth us arguing about it, you know?" Sebastian says, his tone being more relaxed than before. "Should we just get on with the decorating then?"
"Yes..." You both silently began decorating the hall. There was an awkward tension in the room until Sebastian spoke up about the questions that you had for Professor Ominis Gaunt.
After a moment of silence, Sebastian turns to [Y/N] as he helps them decorate the Great Hall. "[Y/N], can I ask you something?" the Professor asks, his tone being more serious. "You asked Professor Ominis about Horcruxes, yes?" the Professor asks, but his tone isn't accusing; just curious and intrigued.
"Um...yes? I just asked him one question." You say uncertainty clear in your voice.
Sebastian senses the uncertainty in [Y/N] voice and chooses to let the matter rest. He can tell that the student may be lying to him about how many questions they asked, but it wasn't worth the argument for Sebastian.
"Well, as long as you're not planning on creating a Horcrux, [Y/N]," the Professor says with a smile, trying to dismiss the matter calmly. "Let's just focus on decorating, okay?"
The professor then turns his focus back to the Great Hall, continuing to help you decorate for the Halloween celebrations.
"Sir... I have a question... not horcrux related, though," you say firmly.
Sebastian gives you a look of curiosity, sensing the seriousness in her voice. "Go on, [Y/N]," he prompts calmly. "What would you like to ask?"
"It's a bit personal, so I don't want to make you uncomfortable..." You say softly.
"It's alright, [Y/N], you can ask it," Sebastian says. "There are some things that I am uncomfortable with, but there aren't many. Go on, ask it," as if giving you the permission to ask him anything.
After all, he was the professor, and they were the student. He felt obligated to listen to any question a student asked from him.
"What's azkaban like?"
Sebastian's expression turns slightly solemn as [Y/N] asks their question. It was quite a deep question, but the professor was prepared. "Azkaban?" he asks, his voice being calm and gentle. He could tell you were curious, and he wanted to answer it so that he could ease your thoughts.
"Well. Azkaban is a terrible place, [Y/N]." The Professor's voice was stern, and there was a slight tremble to it; Sebastian clearly had an emotional attachment to Azkaban. "Many are sent there for life, not to be released ever again..."
"You went to Azkaban, didn't you?" You say sounding innocent.
"Yes, I did," Sebastian says, his face still solemn. The Professor knew that if he was going to talk about Azkaban and his experience, then he needed to be blunt and honest. He owed it to you in that regard.
"I was sent there, [Y/N]. Many years ago." Sebastian pauses, a sigh leaving his mouth as he remembers his past. "But, I do not wish to delve into my past, okay? It helps nobody, and it is not something I like to talk about."
"Aah, ok, I just know someone, that's why..." You say casually.
Sebastian raises an eyebrow at you. "Oh, do you?"
The professor wanted to get to the root of this conversation. He was curious about why you had suddenly begun talking about Azkaban and what they knew.
"Who exactly do you know who has been to Azkaban, [Y/N]?" Sebastian asks, clearly curious, albeit cautious.
"Oh no," you giggle strangely. "My father was part of the wizengamot during the time. He was the judge who condemned you to Azkaban!"
Sebastian froze, his expression going completely pale. He did not expect such a revelation to come from you, let alone about the person who condemned him to that hell. For a moment, Sebastian felt lost in the past but quickly came back to the present and turned to you slowly.
"I...see," Sebastian says softly, unsure of what to say as his heart was racing. "And, how do you know about my sentencing?"
"Oh, well, at the time, before I was born, it was a big thing in the papers, a fifteen years old boy murdering their uncle!"
"I...yes, I've heard that the case made quite a big story in the wizarding world back in the day," Sebastian says solemnly. "You...seem to know a lot of things about me, [Y/N]. This is... a lot to take in," he adds, looking at the you with a concerned expression. He now felt a certain attachment to him. "How much do you know about me?"
There was a slight smirk on your face, before innocently replying, "Nothing much, sir, don't worry..."
Sebastian took a moment to think. He couldn't tell whether you knew of anything else about him or whether she were just saying that to be reassuring.
"Okay," he says, sounding a bit unconvinced as he did. "Well, I just want you to know, [Y/N]. My past is... not something I enjoy reliving," he adds. "Can we, err, move on and stop talking about the subject? It's just... sensitive, okay?"
"Oh, alright, then," you huff slightly "besides my father is dead anyway, so it doesn't really matter in the end," you say incredibly bluntly.
Sebastian couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at. "I...see," he says, a little thrown off by how casually you mentioned your father's death. The professor wasn't sure if he'd heard you correctly, but he thought it best to move on in order to avoid any unnecessary conversation.
"Shall we continue decorating?" he asks, sounding somewhat confused by the short conversation they'd just had.
"Yes, sir."
Sebastian nods with a soft smile.
"Alright, let's keep decorating then," the Professor says softly. The awkward atmosphere they'd created was quickly broken by Sebastian with the mention of decorating again. After all, it was what he wanted to focus on. "Shall we just concentrate on decorating now?"
Sebastian hopes that by continuing, [Y/N] will move on from their previous conversation about Azkaban and their father.
You nod before quietly putting the remaining decorations on the tables.
After a few moments of silence, Sebastian speaks up again and looks over at [Y/N], smiling.
"There, I think we're done decorating, [Y/N]," he says excitedly, having finished their task quickly. He looked over at the work they'd done and was pleasantly surprised by what he saw.
"I am impressed," the Professor chuckles, his expression being more relaxed than ever before. "The Great Hall has turned out wonderfully."
You nod a soft smile on your face... but your eyes tell a different story.
Sebastian looks up at you, noticing the hint of sadness in your eyes. They were trying to hide it, but he could tell that you weren't happy. It was a shame.
"Is everything alright, [Y/N]?" the Professor asks, sounding concerned.
"Yes -"
"No, everything is not alright, I just... hogwarts is my home, and I'm just thinking of a time when I will have to leave."
Sebastian's expression turns slightly solemn, his eyes fixated on [Y/N]. He knew when to push a conversation, but he felt that it wasn't appropriate this time. The Professor wanted to make sure you were comfortable, so his voice was as calm as ever as he addressed them.
"You don't have to worry about that right now, [Y/N]," Sebastian says softly. "Hogwarts is a very safe school, and you have many years to go before you graduate and leave. We don't need to focus on that, okay?"
"Yes, sir, thank you." You reply.
Sebastian smiles at [Y/N], noticing the sadness in their eyes, not go away. "Do not thank me, [Y/N]," the Professor says, shaking his head lightly, almost playfully. "After all, you did half the work here," Sebastian laughs.
"Well, I think that's a good effort," he adds, looking at the Great Hall. "I think the students will enjoy it, especially your spider decorations," Sebastian chuckles.
You didn't laugh at his joke. You had a funny look on your face before quickly delving into a hug with Sebastian.
Sebastian was taken aback by your sudden hug. He hadn't expected that from the student, at least, not at this moment in time. However, the Professor hugged them back, knowing that was the right thing to do.
"You okay?" Sebastian asks [Y/N], gently stroking their hair. He was worried for the student. You had become attached to him, just as he had become attached to you.
"I will miss you most of all, Professor Sallow, incredibly, deeply..." You're voice hard.
"[Y/N]..." Sebastian starts to say, unsure of how to tackle the student's response. It took him a moment to process what you were saying, as he hadn't expected you to say that to him.
"I...I will miss you too. And so will Hogwarts," Sebastian adds, giving you a soft hug. He felt like he knew you, despite not knowing everything about you. He had become attached. "I am...I am proud to have known you. Can...can I call you a friend?" he asks the student softly.
Your smile does not meet your eyes again, "of course, sir."
Sebastian notices the slightly fake smile on [Y/N] face, once again sensing that you had hidden feelings that you decided to keep to yourself.
"Is it okay if I ask you something?" the Professor asks softly. He realised that [Y/N] could ask him anything without a second thought, but he wanted to ensure that you were comfortable with answering those personal questions, too.
"Yes?" you said slightly thrown off by the statement.
Sebastian wasn't sure how to ask the question, but he felt it important that he asked. He wanted to make sure [Y/N] was okay and had no issues.
"Well..." The Professor starts, trying to find the right words to ask his question. "You seem quite... sadder than usual recently. I was curious as to whether something was wrong?" Sebastian asks, as politely as he could.
"Sir...I'm actually the happiest I could ever be in my entire life!" You said happiness now very apparent on your face.
Sebastian notices the obvious change in [Y/N] mood. At first, they were sad and feeling awful, and now they were radiating happiness. It felt like they were trying to hide something.
"Oh, oh, alright then," the Professor says softly, trying to hide his confusion in [Y/N] response. "If you say so, then I'll take your word for it."
Sebastian smiles, trying to be genuine in his enthusiasm. "So you're... enjoying life at Hogwarts then, I presume?"
"I should go now, sir..." Avoiding the question slightly.
Sebastian noticed you dodging the question. They hadn't told him any outright lies, but he was sure they were hiding something.
"Okay then... well, it was nice to help decorate the Great Hall," he adds, wanting to keep the conversation focused on the task they'd completed. But his mind was somewhere else entirely, trying to figure out the mystery of Isabel. "Just...err, do me a favour and enjoy the festivities tonight. Okay, [Y/N]?"
"Of course, sir....you too," you give him the same eerie smile. Then leave the great hall.
Once [Y/N] had left, Sebastian remained in the Great Hall for a few moments. He couldn't quite explain why, but there was something different about you. You were still a bit shy and quiet, but the warmth and innocents you had seemed to have disappeared. He knew you were hiding something for definite, but he wasn't sure what it was.
After a few moments of thinking, he decided to go to his teachers dormitory and grab a drink, merlin knows he needs one. There was just something about this whole situation that didn't settle right with Sebastian, and he wanted to figure it out.
The End
