That scent. Even after decades, he’d still recognize that scent anywhere. Although he can’t quite pinpoint what is it made of, it belongs to her and only her. It awakens his wolf in ways even magic can’t explain. It's ridiculous, really. He's drawn to it like a magnet, to her.

After following the scent down the halls of the museum, he finally hears it. Her laughter. The way she throws her head back laughing makes him grin like a fool.

Preview: Labyrinth

Early Morning, March 28th

It’s quiet at the cottage; open windows letting in the breeze and a sweet scent in the air. Bonnie slept peacefully last night. Before a busy afternoon to come, a slow, easy morning is savored.

Last night, when Bonnie went to the compound, Abby headed over to Adeles. Bonnie met with Freya who filled her in the curse and lack of progress, plus everything under the moon she tried. It didn’t make sense. Freya should have been able to undo it, there was something wrong. Bonnie suspected it came down to fine print in the magic. Especially with something this big, on this scale. Bonnie offered to look into it then come back the next day.

After her time with Freya, Bonnie headed to the living room to spend a little time with Klaus before heading home for the evening.

- Flashback -

“How’d it go?” Klaus asked as he poured himself and her a drink.

“It’s like trying to get through concrete. But I think I can figure it out, “Bonnie put her bag down then sat on the couch with him, “I have my suspicions. I want to confirm first.”

“Thank you, love, for your assistance."

“Well since you both asked so nicely, Elijah too - ” she smiled at him then dug in her bag.

She placed it on the table behind her. A second later, Bonnie pulled something out, “I meant to give you this before.”

Klaus smirked, “Is that a gift?”

“Yes. I saw it and thought of you.”

His cute, playful grin turns to a full smile as he waits with anticipation. Bonnie opened the little box, then handed him the pendant, the one she got from the market in Algiers. Klaus ran his fingers over the onyx arrowhead, then up over the cord.

“It’s perfect.”

She held her hand out to him, offering to put it on him. Klaus found the whole thing wildly endearing. He nodded softly, enjoying every second as she carefully slid the enclosed, adjustable pendant over his head, then laid the onyx against his chest.

Klaus observed Bonnie with total adoration. She reached behind him then adjusted the cord, all in calm, peaceful silence. Silence Klaus eventually breaks as he caresses the side of her face,

“You are exquisite, little witch.”

“Well, I suppose that’s a matter of perspective sweetheart. Werewolves are monsters too, but is a monster really a monster once you love it?”

Klaus looked pleased with himself, lips curled into a triumphant smirk, while Samantha looked taken aback, as if he had said something she hadn’t expected.

His eyes turned on Elena then, and she was surprised to see something significant in his gaze.

Just made a moodboard for chapter ten while I’m working on chapter eleven.

I honestly loved writing this scene, because while Klaus is talking to Samantha, but he’s really asking Elena - will she mean what she said before once she finds out what he is.
