There is something I adore about Klaroline and it will always make me ship them more than any other pairing involving Klaus.
The fact that Caroline Forbes is just Caroline Forbes.
Sometimes I see the argument that « Klaus’ interest in Caroline is foolish and came out of nowhere ».
But? That’s precisely what I love about them. The fact that he didn’t have any reason to fall for her in the first place. After all, she’s just a high school girl in a small town and a regular vampire he found himself drawn to because of her essence and not because of anything about her that could benefit him in some way.
This proves how his love for her was genuine and how it just can’t be matched. Ever.
She wasn’t from any important lineage. She wasn’t a powerful witch, not a doppelgänger, not some girl with important relatives he could firstly use at his own benefit. Yet, he always thought of her as stronger than anyone else.
She was just Caroline Forbes. A girl who had no choice but to fight for herself and found her strength by her own means. He loved her entirely for that and for nothing else. 🤍

do you ever think about how josie was scared hope would pick lizzie but really hope had her first girl crush on josie the entire time, similar to how caroline was upset no one ever picked her but then klaus only had eyes for her as soon as he walked into mystic falls?
or are you normal

I was rewatching 4x13 and you can see the moment Klaus loses his mind and practically disassociates from everything after seeing Caroline and Tyler cover his brother's corpse. Even the music tells us this.
And then obviously when Caroline was dying he was pulled out of it and realized what the fuck he had done and you can also see that on his face and on how he strokes her hair. He is like "I almost just killed her, I ALMOST JUST KILLED HER"
Idk, I mean I always knew this but somehow rewatching all of it just... made it clearer in my mind, just how out of it he was.
You can see how the whole world just faded to the background and all he could see was RED because of his brother's death

I got a lot of edits on my fyp prior to watching any TVDU show so I knew a solid amount of the plot lines prior to watching either show, which also means I knew what characters were normalized to be hated/loved. I started these shows and expected to absolutely despise Matt, Elena, Tyler, and Cami. None of them are my favorite, but I never understood the hate for any of them whatsoever.
The Matt hate just makes no sense, I’m convinced people just want to “fit in” and hate the person that everyone else hates. You pretty much explained everything I would say for him so I’ll hold back a bit here. And yeah, I’m tired of people pretending he’s not attractive cause there is not a single actor on this show that doesn’t look good.
Everyone calls Elena a crybaby, but if they had lost the amount of people that she had before they’re even 20 years old, I guarantee you they’d be crying even more than she did. And calling her selfish? She very rarely ever put herself over anyone. There’s also the argument that she ‘played Stefan’ which in my opinion is just straight out wrong, it’s not like she was pretending to be in love with him while she was with him, but if you hate her for that, you’d have to hate like half the show. I swear everyone dated everyone within that friend group, why do people only hate on her for it? Also this has nothing to do with my point, but why does everyone hate on her NH era? I liked it, it gave her character something different.
Everyone hates on Tyler for one of two reasons. One being that he tried to SA Vicki in season 1, which you would think is a valid excuse, but then they go onto say Klaus, Damon, and/or Katherine is their favorite character (and I’m saying this as my Damon and Klaus are both in my top 5 TVDU characters). The second reason would be something along the lines of Tyler wanting to get revenge on Klaus. I do think he went too far with trying to kill Hayley/hope, but aside from that, he had every right to get revenge on Klaus. He killed his mom and practically ruined his life, including messing with his relationship with Caroline. I actually love Forewood, but I don’t think they could’ve been endgame after that. So I don’t get why people hate on him for leaving Caroline, because I feel like continuing to lead her on when his head is nowhere near the right space would’ve been worse.
Then there’s cami, which is honestly the most confusing one out of all to me. I completely understand her not being your favorite, especially if you’re into more of the anti heroes or villains (like me), but I do not understand why people just absolutely despise her. She plays a major part in the originals, especially early on, as she is the only person Klaus seems to care about listening to whatsoever. He isn’t paying Hayley any sort of attention, and he lied to/betrayed Elijah left and right in season 1. She’s also never betrayed anyone that she considers to be friends or family. The biggest reason she’s hated on is because she ‘stole Klaus from Caroline.” 1. I genuinely just do not get what people see in klaroline. I don’t absolutely despise them, but I do not like them either. Klaus hurt her multiple times (which, by the way, why do people act like Klaus is a hero for saving Caroline from a bite he caused…?) and Caroline was manipulating him every chance she got. I totally understand the whole ‘enemies to lovers’ trope, considering I like delena, but I just do not get it here. 2. How did anyone see that Klaus (and the originals) was getting his own show, and still expect klaroline to work out? 95% of interactions they had post TO being made was complete fan service. It would’ve been WAY too difficult to do a long distance thing with two different shows, especially when neither of them were (im so gonna get hated for this) never in love with each other, they weren’t even in a relationship. Oh and back to the forewood thing real quick, Tyler had every right to be pissed at Caroline for sleeping with Klaus.
Well that turned into a klaroline bashing towards the end. For the record my top 5 characters are Damon, Elijah, kol, hayley, and Klaus in that order and there really aren’t any ships (canonical ships anyway) that I absolutely hate so.
Side note, thank you for being able to hold characters accountable. I like characters as villains/anti heroes because they are a villain/anti hero, I will never understand why people try to defend their favorite character and make them seem like a hero. Like the character for their character, don’t make them into something completely different. If you wanna debate anything further (or something entirely different) let me know, I enjoy debating about shows, I just typically can’t find anyone in this fandom (or any fandom for that matter) that is able to have an actual debate without someone starting to scream over an opinion lmao.
There really isn’t a question here I just kinda felt like ranting after reading your post about Matt Donovan so here it is. Reply to this as you please!
I was fortunate enough to watch the shows before I got into the fandom so I didn't get spoilers (at least for TVD), but more importantly, I didn't have anyone to influence me on which characters to like or not. Which was why I was so surprised when I joined the fandom and saw so much hatred. But I do think some people just "bandwagon" hate characters. Especially Matt. Because anytime I ask people why, they can't even truly express why they *hate* him.
Elena was never my favorite character but I loved early seasons of Elena. I even enjoyed her NH era. I didn't like her sire bond era much. But she definitely gets too much hate. Even at times when I think she can be selfish, she's still miles better than the men the fandom loves.
I've actually posted about Tyler before, you can find that here. Sure, he's done questionable/problematic things, but who hasn't? The hate he gets is ridiculous, especially because it always comes from Damon or Klaus stans. I actually like Caroline and adored Forewood, but I hated how she handled the breakdown of their relationship. I blame the writers. They continuously tanked Caroline's character in order to get views with klaroline.
I love Cami and she is the one character that I truly believe has done no wrong. Cami was truly a turning point for Klaus. Cami was not only an important person for Klaus but for the entire Mikaelson family and the entirety of New Orleans. I also wrote about that recently. But yes, 100% of the hate she gets is because of Klaroline stans. I used to be indifferent to Klaroline. Like I don't like them because they are toxic and I would never ship them, and there are plenty of ships I feel this way about, but the fandom has made me actively dislike them. Klaroline had no possible way of working out and was just lust, but people build them up in their head and then attacked and harassed a real life person because of their delusions.
I'm glad you found my post and enjoyed it! I love finding people that want to engage and have actual discussions about the fandom. Too many people get so set in their views and can't discuss the characters without getting angry. I completely agree. We can all love the characters but 99% of the characters in this show are problematic to say the least. We can love them and still acknowledge this. I love to analyze the morality of the show because it is interesting as we can't use are real life standards to do so. I obviously love over analyzing everything about the show as I spend so much time doing so.
Feel free to ask anything or reach out!

the fact that ppl could forgive both elena and stefan for zeroing in on their hate for they specific big bads when they turned their humanity came back on but not tyler for “abandoning caroline” when klaus literally ruined his life, killed his mom and pack is beyond me. even going as far to say it wasn’t none of his business, they’d do it too or that he had no right to get mad at caroline for sleeping with klaus is weird because they have no problem with everyone putting their morals on the line for elena especially because he killed jenna and elena but isn’t ok for tyler because caroline was being a “#girlboss 😛🤪”

I have a question for you. I don’t know if you’ve ever been on Reddit but I came across this thread recently & someone asked “Was Steroline endgame on TVD & Klaroline endgame on TO?” Someone replied & said “No, Stefan & Klaus died, endgame means they ended the show together.” First, I don’t know why you’d even have to ask about KC, they never fell in love, never was a couple, or even exchanged ILY’s. However, i disagree that Steroline wasn’t an endgame just cuz Stefan died. Thoughts?
Hm. This is a tricky question because "endgame" is a relative term. There is no official definition or criteria, so it is up to every fandom/shipper to decide for themselves.
But this is how I see it:
I think Stefan & Caroline were endgame in the same way Tony Stark & Pepper Potts were endgame in the MCU.
Steroline and Pepperony were happy together and in love in the finale.
Stefan & Caroline were married. Tony & Pepper were engaged.
Caroline & Pepper were never given another love interest at the end of the story.
Did they get to live happily ever after the way that I wanted them to?
No.
But if Stefan and Caroline weren't endgame then neither was Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.
That's my personal take on it.

I don't understand how Bangel shippers can ship Delena and Klaroline all while shitting on Spuffy since Delena and Klaroline are as problematic as Spuffy. I can say the same about Spuffy shippers shipping Stelena all while shitting on Bangel. Damon and Spike have some of the same characteristics while ripper Stefan and Angelus are kind of similar.

this may be controversial but like as much as i dislike the fact that klaus stabbed and bit her it’s a good scene in general?? so far at least, dialogue and characterization-wise. not in the sense that it’s romantic in any way (it really isn’t)
but like. tyler was relishing the fact that klaus was powerless in this scenario and sassing him. the thing is klaus likes to be in control, and it was taken from him in the worst possible way. he was overpowered by a bunch of very dedicated teenagers, he just watched his brother die, and he was in crisis mode because the first feeling of genuine romo affection he had in many years was for a girl who (rightfully) rejected him because he did terrible things to people she loved. in that vein (because his complicated feelings for caroline and his loss of control was the focal point of the scene), she made sure to throw all of this in his face to remind him that it was he who’d destroyed any chance of her liking him, despite the fact that she’d found him interesting and compelling in 3x14 and 4x07 (episodes when he kept his violence in check because he was interested in testing the waters and revealing parts of himself to someone that he couldn’t to his victims, because “victim” is basically what most of his relationships are, in essence - all the people he killed, elena, stefan, tyler, even his own siblings, and caroline was sort of removed from all of this in a way), because of what he himself did and made a point to reference many of these unforgivable things (jenna’s death, carol’s death, etc), reinforcing that she doesn’t have patience for ppl who show more of a capacity towards being a shitty person (”[talking to you] isn’t worth the calories”).
and, despite the fact that he was literally asking damon of all ppl, one ep ago, how he was able to get elena to overlook his bad actions, because he wanted that for himself and caroline, klaus lashed out anyways in what was an extremely counterproductive move by biting her, and thus not making her opinion of him improve in any way?? when caroline saw him revealing his violent and aggressive nature so intimately towards her (he had not victimized her yet the way he did to tyler/elena/stefan unless we discount the scene from 3x11), she “couldn’t even look at him,” and when tyler takes caroline away you can see in klaus’s eyes how he’s just realized the scope of what he’s done, how the one person that even stood a chance of actually liking him was (perhaps irrevocably) tarnished, and how much pain he’d put her through.
once again the thing that klaus was obsessed with (power) was back in his hands, even if he obtained it through a destructive move that would naturally force caroline to think worse of him. klaus gets in the way of his own happiness by... being a dick, basically, and it’s very in character for him. but while klaus was busy being an ass tyler was voluntarily giving klaus more power in an extremely unstable dynamic by saying he would be his slave again and sacrificing his own personal freedom so klaus would heal her. it was a bold and risky move but tyler put his affection and genuine love for caroline over his own wants or well being, which was what klaus was failing to do - and it’s clear klaus was so closed off and emotionally unavailable by habit that he couldn’t understand that that was the kind of thing that caroline saw in tyler, or even elena in d*mon.
but nevertheless it didn’t work because klaus is a power hungry and greedy creature who doesn’t understand the complexities of human emotion, who punishes ppl by making them suffer, because that’s how he operated for literally ten centuries. the next step was for caroline and tyler to regroup, to manipulate the situation - and tyler’s knowledge of klaus - to their advantage. what i love about this is that the two characters who had basically been the punching bags of s1 had grown from a typical teenage boy to a loyal, kind, self sacrificial friend/leader (tyler), and from a “shallow” and misogynistic dumb blonde stereotype to a cunning, intelligent, supportive, and self sufficient/confident person who used her uncanny ability to manipulate the villains of her life, and ppl’s tendency to underestimate her, to her advantage (caroline). they created a new plan together and tyler left caroline to fight for her life by herself, to appeal to klaus by herself without tyler there, because they trusted each other to do their parts in the plan well, and because while tyler knew it was a risk he also knew that klaus’s pettiness and his and klaus’s feud would override any mercy or decency he had, that klaus was most likely incapable of relieving someone’s suffering if it meant he could no longer use that to manipulate an enemy, regardless of whether or not he cared for the victim, which was why he needed to remove himself from the situation.
which yeah, doesn’t paint klaus in a good light, but he’s a villain, and he’s not supposed to be. his actions are inexcusable and caroline asserts this - she refuses to forget about jenna and carol’s deaths, refuses to have faith in someone who hasn’t proven he’s deserving of it. klaus tells caroline it’s “nothing personal,” he’s essentially saying that his pettiness and his rivalry against tyler matters more than her life, which isn’t very commendable, obviously. but the fact of the matter is that he listens to her anyways, his interest is piqued, when she tells him that he lashed out because he was hurt, because he was experiencing true human emotion and it kinda terrified him, and anyone who can do that is capable of being “saved” - presumably, in klaus’s case, saved from his destructive tendencies.
but she doesn’t promise to save him herself, she’s not the Good Girl who will shoulder extreme amounts of emotional labor and take responsibility for the Bad Boy’s personal growth and well being, especially not after the entire Biting Debacle situation. caroline knows that her opinion matters to him, that he holds it in high esteem because a part of him is clinging to some kind of humanity and emotional connection, and she uses that to get him to save her. and this kind of continues later while she still holds him accountable for all the horrible things he’s done (in a way she isn’t free to do with d*mon, for starters) but they also built a friendship as well - which is really what i like about this ship.

Hi Rikki! I love all your klonnie meta. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the canon ships Klaus and Bonnie are in - such as Klaurora, Klamile, Klaroline, Beremy, Bonenzo, or any others you can think of. And why you prefer klonnie.
I personally love klonnie for the narrative potential they had (based on their season 2 dynamic), but I'd like to know your thoughts
Tumblr media
I think with Bonnie's canon ships there comes a lot of insecurities for her. She has a cheating ex-boyfriend (who gets intimate with dead bodies/ghosts) that barely apologized but she forgave. And she has an ex-boyfriend where her entire relationship with him revolved around Damon. He inserted himself into their relationship and his absence is the entire reason for the coupling in the first place. I think Klonnie would help Bonnie gain confidence. I think people associate Klaus' appreciation or interest in Bonnie's power as only being a tool that he can use and take advantage of. Klaus has a previous interest in witches and witchcraft as the son of a witch. Bonnie's ancestor acted as a second mother to him and his siblings. Klaus can encourage Bonnie to embrace her heritage when she regularly feels abandoned by her ancestors. Bonnie allowing herself to be a badass witch from a bloodline that's witch royalty will extend to her confidence in other areas if life. She's not just a witch but being a witch is a major part of her being. She should enjoy that part of herself outside of the servitude of her friends and family. That's where Klaus comes in.
I’m a Bonnie fan first and unlike Klaus she is so limited in the narrative. So I try not to focus so much on his canon relationships that aren’t the Mikaelson’s and Marcel. Bonnie would make him a better person when it comes to Klaus' relationships with people besides her. With Bonnie, maybe Klaus could actually be a friend to Stefan or Cami. Maybe he can be active in his siblings' lives without being controlling. Maybe he'd be a leader without forcing people against their will. I think the problem with a lot of Klaus' relationships is that they don't challenge him on different levels. He has full control in each “ship” he has.
Klaus lacks discipline, order, structure and respect. He has been caught in this state of rebellion for a thousand years. Bonnie can help him FINALLY grow up. Bonnie is all about taking on responsibility (and sometimes she shouldn't) but Klaus needs some of that in his life. He has a responsibility to his loved ones (and maybe his pack) to do right by them. He has to care for them, value them and respect them. In turn, he'd receive the same from them. Part of this comes from embracing his wolf. He has a deep rooted fear that his family would reject him because of it since their past with Henrik. He is a wolf and he can't run from it, Bonnie wouldn't let him. It is not Bonnie’s job to fix Klaus but if she can have an impact on Damon than Klaus is no different.

I LOVE your blog and blame you for reminding me of my delena obsession! I'm curious whether you prefer steroline, klaroline or forwood?! The annoying new delena blog about to follow you and reblog all your metas is me :)
Thanks, anon!!!
I think Steroline had some real potential, and I love the best friends to lovers thing they had going on, but the writers didn't do them justice. I think introducing Valerie threw an unnecessary wrench into their development together and they never quite recovered momentum.
Klaroline suffers from Klaus spinning off, and so he and Caroline can never be central to each other's arcs and none of their moments register as important anymore. plus, Klaus doesn't do much developing as a character, which is kind of boring to me.
I love Forwood when they get together! but I think they fall apart in a very realistic way - they weren't meant to be together for all time, they were together for exactly as long as they needed each other, and then they kept trying to hang on even though they weren't the same people anymore.
the only TVDverse ships that I like anywhere close to as much as I like Damon and Elena are Bonnie and Enzo, and Hayley and Jackson from The Originals. Bonnie and Enzo have this very sweet, simple affection, you can see that they enjoy each other, and they're such a good team! and Hayley and Jackson's story has this beautiful emphasis on the love you choose and build! love is more fidelity than it is passion! they're sooooo romantic.
I think Stefan and Katherine's dynamic is so interesting and so important to the show, but I don't exactly ship it. and Klaus and Cami have some really fantastically powerful moments in The Originals, but she dies and Klaus remains...Klaus.
but really. no one has the POWER of Delena. even when the writers did them dirty, the force of their story brought them back. there was no imaginable end besides the one they got.

Probably a weird ask, but do you know anyone who's written klaroline meta please?
I don't, nonnie, sorry. :( I've seen several asks going around where the answers turned into meta of sorts, but don't know of anyone who has deliberately written meta.

Hello, here to give you some context about the people attacking you: Lina is a person who is obsessed with Rhaegar x Lyanna, has been around the fandom for many years and is known to always start fights with every corner of the fandom, especially with people who don't think Rhaegar is a saint who did nothing wrong ever. Went as far to call Rhaegar a ephebophile instead of a p*dophile, as if that somehow makes it okay. Regarding her IRL opinions, she's very weird about Putin and issues regarding POC, which is often expressed through her opinions about fictional characters/races/families and has even expressed transphobic opinions. I've encountered her on twitter countless times; I'm neither pro-team Green or pro-team Black, yet she has been so awful and hateful that she's been called out numerous of times and most people know they should avoid her, both on twitter and tumblr. Brideoffires previously known as yendany has also been cancelled on tumblr before, I remember them from my old political tumblr days, they were called out as being anti black, racist, fetishiser of gay men and a weirdo overall. These people, along with the rest of "targnation" have been around the fandom for a long time, they will attack anyone they disagree with, including fellow Dany and Targaryen fans who don't "stan" Daenerys hard enough to their liking. If they don't like you, it means you're doing something right. I've always liked Daenerys, as a POC myself I've had issues with how racist her storyline is written, which has nothing to do with Daenerys, but the writer himself - and I got attacked for it and accused of being a "white bitch" which just puts me off the character and fandom and is extremely toxic and deranged. "Targnation" is known for being awful, attacking actors, being extremely racist and sexist and borderline transphobic, considering their treatment of Emma D'arcy when the HOTD casting was announced. This attack on you isn't because those people care about social justice, they've just branded you as a "Dany anti" and because they can't give a proper response to your metas and videos, they'd rather attack your personality and accuse of you things that aren't true, as they often do. All of this goes beyond fiction; war, racism, xenophobia, antisemitism is so much more important than "stan wars". It's not something you get to use as a "gotcha moment" because you disagree over fiction. It's absolutely disgusting. This fandom disappoints me every day. Anyway, keep being you, keep sharing your opinions, keep learning and growing. You're a gem in this fandom of awfulness, you're so well-spoken and smart and I hope you don't let these people get to you with their harassment and bullying because they've chased away a huge part of the fandom already. Sending love <3
Oh boy, well hello my fellow white bitch! And yeah, I don't know who this is nor do I really want to find out given what's been going on, but none of this is particularly shocking to hear. Obviously there are unhinged stans in every fandom, but it sucks when they make everything suck for everyone else. And thanks for the support but no one needs to worry about me, I survived the fucking Klaroline fandom so some kooks I've never heard of going nuclear on me is fairly old hat. It generally takes a lot for me to internalize this kind of fuckery and the only thing that actually bothers me is being misrepresented, and I feel like I made myself clear so at least people can form their opinions of me based on reality rather than the unhinged rantings of people who don't know me and who I don't know. Ultimately however people act is on me and not them, and stuff like this really is analogous to someone screaming "bitch" out of their car window as they drive by so it is not something I take personally, it is just weird because, due to the nature of social media, doing that can actually lead to some other people being like "wait what maybe they're right?"

Fanfic writer ask game: 4, 8, 15, 16, 18
4. Do you prefer writing multi-chapter or oneshot fanfictions?
It really rather depends. Writing multi-chapter stories is certainly a lot more stressful (the sad line of my old dropped attempts rather showcase that).
But at the same time my longer stories do bring me bigger amounts of joy I guess. I get INVESTED in them.
But I also love writing short little drabbles that are like me baking a cookie, instead of a line of cakes. So I guess I like writing both, it's just about what I'm in the mood for.
8. What kind of document do you use to you write? Microsoft Word? Google Docs? Straight in the AO3 text box?
No, I'm a true savage, I write straight on Tumblr and make frequent use of 'save as draft' (I have an explanation to this, I used to write more TV show meta posts when I joined the hellsite, and I got so used to this particular font, in this particular size, on this particular background that writing anywhere else gets so distracting I might as well give up).
I do last edits in AO3 drafts though 🥺 that makes everything okay, right?
15. Are there words, phrases, mannerisms or scenes you tend to use a lot?
Ugh, the bane of my existence is how when I write and come up with a word that fits, the word somehow gets stuck in my mind and I'll find it used again two paragraphs down. And I don't notice until I do a reread aloud in editing. At which point I tend to google a bunch of synonyms.
Also: 'burst into laughter', 'choked back her tears', 'swallowed past the stone in her throat'. Also also my characters tend to raise their eyebrows and roll their eyes a lot, I think.
16. How long is your longest fic?
31'060 words as of yesterday, She's Come Undone and Set Free. Who knew how invested I'd get into letting Elena be angry; having Caroline dealing with her s1 trauma; making TVD era Rebekah get actual friends; and (most recently) giving Bonnie a properly interesting love interest *cough*Rebekah*cough*. (I already knew I could get invested in Elejah, that one wasn't a surprise).
18. Recommend someone else fic! (And tag them if they have a tumblr!)
This question is confusing but I'll take it to mean I should recommend someone else's fic to everyone who reads this.
Okay. I'm gonna narrow it down to TVD/Legacies fics because that's what I'm recently writing myself and if I don't put some kind of theme limit I'll get a headache.
We Remain by AnonymousObsesser - Elejah, starts during American Gothic and then goes a completely different way (I have read the first three chapters at least 5 times, the Elejah feelings are seriously top-notch).
A Year to Eternity? by @missnmikaelson - Elejah, Klaroline, a bit of Bonnie/Kol, a bit of Handon - Starts out during 5x12 of The Originals. But with TVD had a different ending (Elena isn't married to certain people for example and I love it). Neither Elijah, nor Klaus die because that's stupid (Caroline yells a bunch at Klaus about it, Elena's blood is always the magic cure we should all know this: "To seal the Hollow away we need the willing support of Elena Gilbert." Amusement sparkled in his eyes. "I'm asking about your knees, Nik, because you're about to grovel on them.").
plastic crown by @jennifersminds - Elejah but not as the focus, the focus is Elena runs away from the Salvatores (Rebekah gives her a car, Elena ends up in Vegas, I honestly don't know how to describe it, the story just has a very unique imagery) and tries to build herself back up. Trauma. Vengeance. Female friendship. Strip clubs and slight bit of vampiric serial killing. Oh, just read it, you'll understand.
(I think the three above mentioned fics can probably be blamed for me starting to write She's Come Undone).
tis the season for a kidnapping by @vorpalmuchness - Elejah, Elena gets kidnapped by a couple of idiots whose information is a BIT out of date (they call Elijah and expect gratitude is what I mean, those poor poor morons). And I LOVE it.
being unwanted (and wanting too much); by @natalia-dyer - Post s4 Hizzie, basically Lizzie coming to her great lesbian awakening/acceptance of self as she realizes why none of the guys were ever quite right.
Torn by the hours by @isagrimorie - (if you don't think I absolutely love that fic, you are WRONG, it lives in MY head rent free). Hizzie, with Lizzie waking up in the middle of the battlefield where Hope has pulled a full on massacre because she thought Lizzie was dead? I am RABID for this scene.
(okay, it's possible I overdid it a lil'bit).

I won't be offended if you prefer to delete this but your post about Tyler had me thinking...
Caroline really made his grief over his mother dying about her so much so that she issued the worst ultimatum and left herself with...
A drunk old man that used to be her teacher.
A long time friend that never seemed like he got over Elena and definitely has codependent issues with his brother so much so that he sacrificed himself willingly a day after their wedding.
And a power hungry hybrid who gave her money he could more than afford to give and said pretty words but also tortured, enslaved and killed people she was connected to....and also definitely had codependent issues with his brother.
I cannot fathom it.
All true facts. It’s late here so a meta! :D
As a huge Forwood shipper and I’m equally very critical of them. It’s a great ship for them both at first, then becomes a ship only for Caroline’s needs and development which isn’t fair to Tyler That Klaroline/Steroline shadow made those fans believe Tyler was the worst Caroline could get. When in reality he was the BEST romantic partner and friend she ever had.
What upsets me more about that ultimatum that Caroline FORCED is that she’s the only one we see comforting Tyler after Carol’s death. Even before Carol died, and Tyler was skeptical about being alpha she uplifted him and Tyler heavily respected what she had to say and went full force with it. Mind you, this is the same Tyler that broke every bone in his body just to be with Caroline. Then re-agreed to slavery for Care. Forwood communicated with each other and called out their faults. The other tvdu ships weren’t doing that!—then we get this full arc of Caroline’s grief and remember she bluntly told Tyler to get over the fact that she hooked up with Klaus because of her impulses and she’s not good1!!1
The series wanted to bury Forwood and they did so in the worst ways imaginable. Caroline gets pregnant with Alaric’s babies forcibly. (I understand Candice was pregnant but they could’ve hid her belly so Caroline wasn’t pregnant.)-Oh and we can’t forget Alaric was in love with her and proposed.
Steroline was supposed to follow the friends to lovers build up the way Forwood did and it never appears that Stefan is all in the way Caroline is. Tbh, even before the wedding Stefan wanted out the relationship he tried multiple times to end things in s8. Caroline refused and wanted it to work. Building them up after Liz’s death was a choice. Stefan manipulated Caroline heavily to when it came Tyler and their relationship.
Klaroline has no obstacles to pass with them. Klaus may give Caroline pretty things, and money but emotionally he’s never shown to give Caroline any support. When Caroline saves Bonnie from those 12 witches which is her first huge kill(correct me if I’m wrong) since s2 she immediately goes to Klaus and he basically tells her to get away from him. Klaus mentions how she’s too good for that small town but Caroline had never said she hated her home. What she did hate was Klaus grown ass destroying shit. They never had a serious conversation about anything tbh. I did enjoy how Caroline called him out at first but TO’s “you aren’t the villain in my story.” Ruined that. Oh and lol these shippers get on Damon for his rape of Caroline yet somehow, someway excuses that Klaus attempted to rape Caroline too in Tyler’s body…. Anyways! I do think a lot of Klaroline is rooted in Klaus wanting control over Tyler, and Caroline is a way to exert control over Tyler because of his love for her.
Okay this is long af, sorry! To end this off Tyler loved Caroline for who she was. He never wanted her to change, he valued and respected her. Never abused her or anyone she loved. He listened to what she had to say. Caroline’s other love interests NEVER saw her the way Tyler did. Btw, I wish people understood Tyler never, not once slutshamed Caroline for having sex with someone else. He was only mad that she slept with Klaus as if Klaus did not ruin Tyler’s life and murdered his mother. There’s obviously a reason Caroline didn’t want Tyler to know and continued to ignore the boundaries he placed up in s5 so they could just go back to the way SHE wanted them to be. It’s sad they were ruined because 5B of Forwood has moments where you can forget their broken up just based on Forwood’s chemistry. I forgot to add, some fans pretend Tyler couldn’t give Caroline a good life. Tyler wasn’t financially struggling, and would’ve done anything she asked of him. I think it’s a little problematic that Tyler did say everything he liked about himself was Caroline lol. But, he wanted nothing but her and their happiness. Just without the enslavement from Klaus.
Thank you for the ask!

after seeing so many klaroline posts from @davinasrebekah intermixed with some forwood, and how forwood probably could have been endgame if klaus was never introduced... i almost think caroline had to end up with someone like stefan, who understood the allure of klaus (both personally and in abstract like how he compared his sleeping with katherine) but i'm still too sick to meta on it so i'll leave dis/agreements to @laufire & ( @takaraphoenix ?) my klaroline mutuals who like steroline only in the sense that it made caroline happy lol
