Hallelujah Breakdown: Episode 25 OVA
Tumblr media
In Mako’s first “Hallelujah!” moment in the Kill la Kill OVA, she says:
流子ちゃんの中に鮮血ちゃんは生きてるんです!2人は一つでペアルックなのです!心に一張羅を着ておしゃれをし尽すのです!
The official English subtitles translated this speech as follows:
Senketsu lives on within Ryuko! They're two-in-one, soulmates wearing matching outfits! In her heart, she's dressed to kill, wearing her Sunday best!
Like every instance of “Mako Theatre” in the show, her speech here involves visual gags in the form of wordplay and puns... that largely don’t translate.
The following are my best guesses about what the jokes in this particular sequence are. All translations come from Jisho.org, which is a fantastic Japanese-English dictionary and extremely valuable resource.
Gag 1
Tumblr media
What she says: 流子ちゃん (Ryuko-chan)
What it means: This one is pretty self-explanatory! Mako says “Ryuko” and impersonates her, running one hand over an added red streak in her hair and miming scissors with the other. This is consistent with how she’s played Ryuko previously.
Tumblr media
Gag 2
Tumblr media
What she says: の (no)
What it means: の in this context is simply a possessive particle, but the shape Mako makes with her arms may be playing out 野, also pronounced “no,” which can mean “plain; field.”
Gag 3
Tumblr media
What she says: 中に (naka ni)
What it means: This is one joke that translates. 中 (naka) means “inside,” so Mako rips off part of her clothes and shows her guts.
Gag 4
Tumblr media
What she says: 鮮血ちゃん (Senketsu-chan)
What it means: This is another joke that is universal. Mako says “Senketsu” and impersonates him by pushing her sailor uniform ties up... and kind of eliminating her legs? But interestingly, she has both her eyes open, whereas she usually closes her right eye when playing him. This might be a reference to the fact that Senketsu’s eye opened in the finale.
Tumblr media
Gag 5
Tumblr media
What she says: は 生きてるん (wa ikiterun)
What it means: There may be more to this image that escapes me, but 生きる (ikiru) means “to live; to exist.” A big green leaf and caterpillar in the sun seem like a fitting representation of spring, which is of course full of new life. Aikuro’s cherry blossoms also add to the feel.
Gag 6
Tumblr media
What she says: です (desu)
What it means: です is a sentence ender whose meaning could be translated as “be” or “is,” but the joke here is possibly a play on the English word “death,” which is written in katakana as デス (desu).
Gag 7
Tumblr media
What she says: 2人は (futari wa)
What it means: 2人 (futari) means “two people,” so this one kind of speaks for itself. There are two Makos to represent a pair.
Gag 8
Tumblr media
What she says: 一つで (hitotsu de)
What it means: Another literal gag, this one simply means “in one” and so has two parts of Mako coming together into one whole.
Gag 9
Tumblr media
What she says: ペアルック (pearukku, pair look)
What it means: Yet another literal gag, “pair look” refers to “matching clothing worn by couples,” so two Makos have identical sailor uniforms (and pink hair that looks like cherry blossoms?)
Gag 10
Tumblr media
What she says: なの (nano)
What it means: Literally, なの is a feminine way of ending a sentence whose meaning could be translated as “that's the way it is.” But here, Mako is playing out the ナノ (nano) prefix that indicates one billionth and so is super small.
Gag 11
Tumblr media
What she says: です! (desu!)
What it means: As this is the same gag as before, it’s likely still a play on the English word “death.”
Gag 12
Tumblr media
What she says: 心 (kokoro)
What it means: Another universal gag, 心 refers to “heart,” so Mako hugs her heart.
Gag 13
Tumblr media
What she says: に (ni)
What it means: に in this context is simply a particle indicating place, but whatever Mako is in this frame (a soy cube?) may be a play on 荷, also pronounced “ni,” which can mean “load; baggage; cargo; freight; goods.”
Gag 14
Tumblr media
What she says: 一張 (icchou)
What it means: The full word here is 一帳羅 (icchoura), meaning “one's (only) good suit (or kimono).” The show often translates this as “Sunday best.” But the middle part here, “chou,” is homonymic with 腸, which means “guts; bowels; intestines.” Mako might be playing out intestines with her squiggliness.
Gag 15
Tumblr media
What she says: 羅を着て (ra wo kite)
What it means: Mako finishes the 一帳羅 word here and adds a verb, 着る (kiru), “to wear.” (Yes, the name Kill la Kill (or Kiru ra Kiru) is a play on the verb “to wear,” which likely explains the subtitle’s decision to translate this part as “dressed to kill.”) Literally, Mako’s just talking about Ryuko wearing her Sunday best, but the acting is perhaps a reference to 労, pronounced “rou,” which sounds similar to “ra wo” and means “labor; labour; toil; trouble; pains; work; effort; striving.” Mako being slumped over and clutching her stomach does seem to indicate pain.
Gag 16
Tumblr media
What she says: おしゃれ (oshare)
What it means: A literal gag, おしゃれ means to be “smartly dressed; stylish; fashion-conscious,” so Mako poses in a cute sundress and hat.
Gag 17
Tumblr media
What she says: を (wo)
What it means: を is literally a particle that indicates a direct object, and while this is the same gag as です, Mako is also hanging on a cord, so this is probably a play on 緒, pronounced “o,” which can mean “cord; strap; thong.”
Gag 18
Tumblr media
What she says: し尽すの (shitsukusu no)
What it means: The joke evades me, but し尽す means “to leave nothing undone; to do all in one's might; to do everything possible.” Cooking and handing out gifts with eggs(??) on her hands and head might represent such a concept?
Gag 19
Tumblr media
What she say: です! (desu!)
What it means: Same as before, likely a play on the English word “death.”
And that’s all! My understanding is admittedly limited, so please feel free to share any additional insight. I’d also be happy to try breaking down more “Hallelujah!”s in the future if you have any requests!

Maxxor and Chaor (separate) with a human female s/o? Headcanons or scenario whichever is easier for you.
CHAOTIC!!!!!! Seriously if anyone knows anyone out there writing for this show, hook me up with some links.
I wasn’t sure if you meant this in a “how they met” kind of way, or how they would be with them, so I did change up the style of writing to explain how they did meet. Let me know what you think!
Human fem!S/o ( Chaotic )
It was usually children wielding strange devices that visited Perim. Every being in the six tribes knew of the otherworldly visitors meddling or assisting sides on a whim, asking for only a still image in return. They were odd but ultimately harmless.
There were a few odd rumors though. Why would only children ever visit, if not for the lack of adults? Some individuals claimed to have seen full grown humans yet were dismissed for seeking cryptic creatures that did not exist.
It caused quite a stir when one finally was spotted in the middle of the city of all places.
Chaor
How in the world the two had become friends was entirely up for debate. If asked, (Name) would tell the story of how she had been minding her own business chasing after some brat players attempting to destroy part of the tunnel system when she had collided with him. And, unlike most creatures in Perim, Chaor had been smart enough to steal away her scanner to get her to help him on a short term “project.” She had (begrudgingly), and he surprisingly upheld his end of the bargain, though it hadn’t stopped him from finding some reason to request her presence on one thing or another.
If asked, Chaor would crush the fool dumb enough to imply that he has friends (even though it is true).
Neither is entirely sure when or how they started to form any friendship though. (Name) found herself returning to the Underworld more and more, often running into none other than Chaor, while the latter noticed that he seemed more alert about when the human arrived in his domain. It helped that unlike many creatures in Perim he held no odd superstitions about humans. Humans are dangerous, sneaky and capable of being warriors when they felt like it. She was no different. And he treated her as such.
As their friendship gets to grow closer, they do spend time together - both in and outside of combat situations. Yea, I can see Chaor dragging his human into a few missions - humans are resourceful, he’d be an idiot to not recognize that. Besides, any creature that came too close to her met a painful fate at his hands. “She is not yours to take.” For she is mine is the half he always thinks, never says. Yet it’s the time spent in down hours that make her start to feel something. For a king who is deadset on being the most intense warrior out there, he rules the kingdom fairly well. He understands the spirit of his people and truly seeks better conditions for them - Kiru City and the Overworld would give them access to resources they badly needed. Scrape away at the outer, very real face of a warrior, and there is a leader. One wiser than people think.
Chaor throws her in for a loop though. It’s sudden, and strange. They’re at one of the rare Underworld feasts - their enemies are beaten and the rewards are reaped by the tribe tonight. (Name) is drinking and feasting alongside the rest of them, roaring in laughter when a heavy red hand is on her shoulder. She hasn’t a clue that he’s been staring at her ever since she started to laugh. All she knows is that his grin, the grin he gets whenever he’s realized something, is all over his face and his arm is pulling her close to his side. His entire arm engulfs her and keeps her there as he raises his mug to her.
“To my little human.” A declaration.
Maxxor
To be completely frank, she was just interested in exploring Perim. Ever since she had found out the truth about Chaotic, (Name) had barely spent any time playing the actual game. This whole time there was an entirely parallel world to Earth and she was supposed to focus on scanning stuff when there was a whole place to see? No! Actually, well, she did have to scan a few things on occasion to defend her reputation, but beyond that it was all exploration!
Their first encounter had been entirely by accident. She had been meandering through the markets, taking in the sights of Kiru City unaware of the attention she was getting. Human adults are unheard of in Perim after all. However, it’s not until she wanders too close to the training grounds that a shadow looms over her. “I don’t believe we’ve met. Who are you?” Maxxor was recognizable - any player knew him on sight. There is a difference though in seeing the card versus seeing the person. The card doesn’t have a smooth voice or eyes full of intrigue.
Catching herself staring, she said her name and explained how she was curious about- about everything really! Sub-tribes, history, food, art - oh their stories- the second (Name) spotted a library she was going to read the shit out of those books. That had taken him aback. Humans traditionally wanted to scan. They did not seek to understand Perim or the people who lived in it. Seeing such genuine curiosity from a human was different and refreshing.
That day had sparked a fast friendship between the two, built on mutual curiosity for each other’s worlds. Busy or not Maxxor always had time for her during her visits. They could talk well into the night, sharing stories of wonder with the other while enjoying each other’s company. On days where things were quiet they talked while wandering through the city as Maxxor showed her the sights of his home. With each visit, he found it becoming harder and harder to end them, wanting them to last a bit longer, to hear their voice and enjoy their laughter for one minute longer. Yet he says nothing. She has told him of the human world, what wonders it has and what life she leads in it. He could not be selfish enough to ask her to tie herself to him. Her friendship was enough to sustain these feelings of longing - it was the lie Maxxor found himself believing less with each passing day.
Little did he know a certain human felt deeply for him too. And unlike him, selfishness isn’t something she’s concerned about.

they snorted "dont deliberately misunderstand my words Q you and I both know you are far too old for petty games. Right now what is important is stopping Clay not killing the kid so unless you can prove without a shred of doubt that this will solve all our problems then you doing it waists time and resources we need"
Q growls and kneels down, glaring at Kiru, his beast towering over him.
“Tell me why.”
“I WAS BORED!” The child sobs and Q snarls, stands, and vanishes, his beast going with him.

So as I’m editing On my Heart, I’ve noticed that a lot of scenes that I thought weren’t great while writing them I actually kind of like?  So I decided to share one of them.  (Especially because I don’t know if it’s going to stay in exactly this format for draft three...)
________________________________________________________________
It wasn’t the first time Aiden had left the city.  His parents had taken him on a couple of trips to an amusement park further up the territory—something he hardly remembered, save for when they took him directly after he’d been released from the hospital—and they’d visited his grandparents, who lived in the northern part of the country and didn’t always have the means to come visit.  Occasionally they’d gone to visit aunts and uncles he didn’t know very well and a couple of cousins he got along surprisingly well with (some of which were still save as contacts for his online games).  One time they’d gone to the beach for a couple of days, and Aiden had been excited despite himself, because he was used to water but not so much at once.
But all of those trips had been on a car ride.  Traveling by train was a new experience.
Kiru, unsurprisingly, had been ecstatic over the new experience, despite his trepidation over the reason for their trip.  He’d phased out immediately upon entering the train, and Aiden had been so caught up in trying to figure out where he was supposed to be going and how to keep people from looking at him too closely that he hadn’t realized the Familiar had left until a few moments later, leading to a panicked chase through the train cars and a scolding from the conductor.  Kiru had been successfully corralled, and sulked for only a few moments until the train started moving.
Both Aiden and Kiru pressed their faces against the window, Aiden’s panic and Kiru’s irritation forgotten, as the city passed away, the train traveling over grass and winding past several houses and businesses scattered on the city outskirts.
Gertrude asked, “You ever been on a train before?”
           Aiden shook his head.
Kiru made an excited yelping noise, bounding onto the top of the seat and balancing, eyes tracking something Aiden couldn’t see.
Their neighbors frowned and flicked open a newspaper.
Aiden gave him a sheepish look and gestured vaguely for Kiru to come down. When the Familiar didn’t notice, he wordlessly gave up.
Gertrude chuckled.  “Have to say, I didn’t expect to see you so interested in the scenery.”
“Listen.  It’s not anywhere near the road or the river.  Like—I’ve seen the mountains, but I’ve never been on them.”
As if on cue, the track sloped, the train chugging up the hill.
Aiden gripped the seat a little tighter but kept his eyes glue to the window, the rattle of the wheels strangely comforting.
“Mm. Guess I just kind of got used to it.”
“Yeah, well, you live outside the city.  So duh.”
Jackie—who’d been checking her supplies and fixing her prosthetic—gave Gertrude a sideways glance.  “Have you done a lot of traveling?”  The words sounded slightly strained, like she was attempting to make conversation solely for the sake of easing any potential awkwardness before it appeared.
“When I was younger.  Not that my parents were too thrilled about most of it, of course.  My sister and I used to make impromptu trips to different cities or cool locations we wanted to check out.  One of us would find somewhere that looked interesting, and then we’d just hop in the car and go.  If we didn’t want our parents knowing, the train was usually the best option.”
           Jackie made an incredulous noise.
Aiden pulled away from the window.  “You could do that?  Just leave?” He paused.  “Wait, you have a sister?”
“Of course you can just leave!” she said, grinning, and Aiden wondered if she’d even registered his other comment.  “There’s nothing stopping you, really, if you want to go.”
           “Money,” Jackie argued.
Aiden winced and subconsciously placed a hand on his heart.
“Sure, sure, if you want to limit yourself.  But you can find ways around that, if you know how to look.  I traveled all the way to Provenance from Coal County in Timston without dipping into my parents’ funds for resources.” She snorted, a funny look crossing her face.  “They didn’t exactly approve, of course.”
Aiden leaned back a little, scenery momentarily forgotten.  “Why haven’t you ever talked about your family before?  I mean, you seem to like your sister, at least.”
Gertrude’s expression closed off slightly, and he wondered if he’d touched on an uncomfortable subject.  But she shrugged and glanced aside.  “Haven’t seen them in years, so there’s not much to talk about.”
“Oh.”  Uncertainly he cast a glance over to Jackie.
           She raised an eyebrow.
He jumped and looked back out the window.
Jackie sighed tiredly.  “Whatever biological family I have hasn’t had contact with me since I was little.  My dad’s dead, mom’s God knows where, and my extended family pretty much stopped contacting me once I entered the foster care system.”
           Aiden murmured, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.  There’s nothing you could’ve done.”  She paused.  “The police were kind of like my family, for a while.”  She folded her arms and glanced aside.
           Aiden swallowed another apology.
Kiru watched them, head tilted.  He slid onto Aiden’s shoulder and tapped him.
           Aiden furrowed his eyebrows.
Kiru phased in.  I want to talk to them.
           Okay?  About what?
           About our family.
Aiden blinked.  He was surprised enough that he almost forgot to lower his voice.  “Kiru said he wants to talk about our family.”
           Gertrude looked intrigued.
Jackie still looked wary—as she usually did when he mentioned Kiru or had him out—but something vaguely curious flashed in her eyes.
Kiru said, I don’t have any biological family, either.  That’s alive, anyway.  But it was never anything that bothered me.
Aiden relayed the information as Kiru went, trying not to interject his own comments in the process.
I don’t know if that’s a dragon thing, or a Familiar thing.  Family wasn’t important.  Aiden was my master, and it was my job to protect him.
Something uncomfortable wormed in Aiden’s stomach, but he tried not to dwell on it, focused more on the Familiar’s words.
But Aiden kept treating me like I belonged there, and I wanted to know more about the world.  So he taught me about family, and insisted that I was part of his.
The uncomfortable feeling grew, and slowly it dawned on Aiden that he’d never paid much attention to how much the Familiar’s identity and life seemed to revolve around him.  It should have, a part of him whispered. That’s what Familiars are made for.
So—I don’t know.  Kiru sounded confused for a moment, like he hadn’t quite decided where he’d wanted to go with this.  I guess that’s all.
Gertrude snorted.  “Well. That was anticlimactic.”
Aiden complained, “You didn’t even talk about anything we did.”  He hoped his voice wasn’t shaking as much as he thought it was.
Kiru huffed.  I couldn’t think of anything!
“I can.”  He paused. “We didn’t travel much.  But we did do a lot of things together.”  He stared out the window again, and his mind drifted back to warm summer nights, small points of light flickering in front of his face.  “Mom and Dad would take me out to catch fireflies when I was little. We’d keep them in a jar for a few hours, but my parents always made me let them go before I went to bed.  One night I managed to sneak some into my room. I was pretty upset when they were dead the next morning.”  He smiled a little sheepishly.  “One of the first things I did when I came home with Kiru was take him out to catch fireflies.”
It had been strange, coming home with the Familiar.  He was still so unused to having one flickering around inside him, unused to the foreign thoughts and feelings that banged against his skull, foreign and not really formed with human words, but impressions and images and something deep and primal that he hadn’t been able to understand and probably never would.  And he hadn’t been entirely aware of what was going on or what was to come, but he had the vague sensation that things would be different now, and he’d been desperate for some form of normality and for a chance to try and find common ground with the Familiar he hadn’t expected to have and didn’t know how to interact with—no one in his family had owned a Familiar before.
“My mom heard me trying to explain things.  We, ah, weren’t having too much luck.  Probably because Kiru kept scaring them.”
Hey! Kiru protested.  That wasn’t my fault!  I didn’t know what I was supposed to do.
Aiden snorted.  “Mom decided to help us.  Dad came out a little later with a net, and we had some more luck then.”
He still remembered the kind of funny look his mother had given him when she’d caught him trying to teach the Familiar to catch fireflies.  He understood what it meant in hindsight, but at the time, he hadn’t quite been sure what to make of it.  But then she’d wiped it away and offered the help, and his dad hadn’t so much as looked at him oddly.
“We used to like to go to the river, too,” he added, but his voice fell.  He’d always liked going to the docks, with his parents as a kid, with Kiru once he got older.  He didn’t know how to sail, but he liked the water, and he’d sometimes fish (a pastime he wasn’t particularly good at, but was relaxing enough that he didn’t mind) or play in the shallows with Kiru.
But now the river was frightening, tinged with terror and the primal energy of dragons and change he wasn’t sure he knew how to deal with.  It was a representative of the fact that he couldn’t go back to his family any longer.
The conversation fell away, his mood soured.
Gertrude cleared her throat.  “Well, anyway.  We have a couple hours before our stop.  Better get comfortable.”

I really enjoy your art and find your headcanons for the creatures both interesting and somehow fitting despite there not being a lot of information about them. But I am curious, do you have any headcanons for each tribe in general?
(I got this question a while ago; using it now because my hands hurt too much to draw right now. Thank you for your patience.)
UnderWorlders
Those that live in areas like UnderWorld City, the Lava Pond, or places where the air is largely filled with sulfur gas have less of a sense of smell and taste than most other UWs. Scent isn’t as viable in those regions because it’s largely masked by the gases that spout from the ground. However, because this means that those Creatures have stunted olfactory senses, this is why they typically spice the heck out of their food (and you can sort of smell it in the air once you get used to the sulfur). They can’t taste most things without it, especially sweet-things, so most of their cooking is often really strong -be it simple dishes, to feasts, to really hard alcohol. This lack of taste is especially true in the Creatures that breathe fire, as they have fewer nerves in their mouth and tongues as a whole due to the extreme temperatures their bodies have been made to withstand.
Related to that last point, it’s why their hygiene seems a little lacking in comparison to the other Tribes. While they can certainly feel grime, they don’t smell it as much, and besides, water is a very rare resource for them so they’re not going to waste it with superfluous bathing.
UnderWorlders are strangely possessive of their Humans. Though most don’t outwardly show it (because that broadcasts something that could be used against them), those that have ‘wards’ or connections to Players will absolutely destroy something in order to protect them. If given the opportunity, most UnderWorlders would leap at the chance to have someone study under them (kind of like how Grook did with Kaz), as training is usually a social behavior shared not only among students and teachers, but friendly sparing between family members is somewhat of a culturally sacred thing. However, most are aware that they’d likely kill a Player if this was attempted.
Von Bloot was never a respected leader; his army was made of conscripts and people forced into a situation where they had no other choice. That being said, most are also dissatisfied that Chaor took so long to do something about him, as well as the fact that he wasn’t the one who finally got Von Bloot in the end. There’s a bit of a power-vacuum in the southern UW after he’s gone.
Some UnderWorlders would swear that they can feel Fire in a few Players. This is part of the reason Chaor has not outright wiped Tom from existence (the other part being that his human is too attached to him).
Danians
Danians are surprisingly adept at playing music and making instruments. Because of their connection to each other, it’s easy for them to harmonize sounds together and create layered symphonies that are perfectly in time with one another. They specialize in percussion, be it stamping of the feet, steel drums, or humming to make a beat. Also, younger Danians have a tendency to chitter or hum without realizing it. It’s pretty common to find their designated part of the Hive thrumming with sound, even in the dead of night. It’s a calming noise for the soldiers who can’t sleep, as it sounds entirely of contentment, and those with insomnia have a small medical barracks next to it so that they can be lulled asleep.
While uncommon, some Danians crave physical affection. Most have a pretty steely demeanor, but those with softer sides are usually the ones you can find befriending Players. Their culture isn’t too big on affection as a whole, so when encountering Humans (who as a species are aggressively social), it was like striking gold. These Danians tend to favor younger Players, as they are commonly predisposed to protect those they know cannot help themselves.
Most Battle-Masters have a (mostly) one-way connection to the Hive. They can send out orders, but it’s hard for them to receive messages unless it’s from the Queen or her personal entourage. This is because they often have to make choices that will end up costing lives, and they don’t have the sense of solidarity most other Danian classes do. While many Mandiblors will provide solace to one another because they feel the loss and rift that fallen left behind, Battle-Masters typically don’t. After all, who wants to mourn when you’re the reason that they’re gone? Instead, you need to focus on the next fight and prevent such a thing from happening again.
Needless to say, that last point is a huge contention between Muges in the Hive and the generals. One focusses mainly on how things are connected, while the other is fundamentally incapable of understanding it.
They detest spiders. All of them. “Nothing holy would create something with that many eyes.”
Mipedians
Typically seen as the most wealthy of the Tribes, Mipedians are totally unmotivated by most commodities, but are very willing to trade for food. As they live in a literal desert, it’s hard for them to grow much of anything, even in the oasis areas. Cactuses are farmed in some places, but for the most part they rely solely on imports. The biggest provider is the OverWorld, and strangely enough, no matter how bad things get between the Tribes, this agreement is never threatened (Maxxor has never considered starving them, nor would he dare entertain the idea; he refuses to punish an entire nation because their leaders aren’t being reasonable) which is a contrast to how how the arrangements between the Mipedians and the other two Tribes.
Wearing chimes is a very common practice among most ordinary citizens. Not only does the metal heat up nicely in the sun, but it’s a way for parents to hear where their kids are. Most families will have their chimes tuned to a certain chord. Markets and bazaars are not only an amazing experience for the eyes, as seeing glittering scales, silks, and fantastic wares, but also for the ears due to the pleasant clinking of jewelry.
Mipedians have community sunbathing sessions. Towns have them at different times and days from one another, but it’s usually the highlight of the week. Typically, it’s just after the highest point of sun in the sky until dusk (though officials and soldiers leave only after about an hour or two). After that there are campfires in the night and shared potluck styled banquets. It’s great for community morale, as well as a grounding measure for those working in their political structure to see their subjects as people and interact with them as such instead of just ‘subjects.’ If one’s in the desert at night and there’s no breeze, you might hear jovial laughter and smell food on the wind.
This is also a way of helping guide lost travelers home. It has saved many poor wanderers of all Tribes, and is the one time outsiders won’t be taken into custody immediately.
OverWorlders
They’re the only Tribe with multiple classes and schools of Muge: Naturalists, Hunes, Archivists, and war-Muges. Naturalists are typically those who rely on elemental abilities, study the connections of the natural world, and believe that everything has innate tethers to the Cothica (something that’s rejected by the other schools). Hunes are primarily scholars or political figures, often trying to find out the nature of Mugic itself, demystify it, as well as create their own sphere of influence in the public. Archivists are like Najarin, where they take a primarily historically and anthropological view of Mugic, the world, and how things have changed. War-Muges are just those who learn to cast in order to use it in battle.
They’re the only Tribe that has territory that has other sovereign nations within it. The Gherix, Zeorn, and a whole host of others all occupy pieces of land within the vast realm, and many have diplomats stationed in Kiru. Also, if the Frozen weren’t ever intended to be a Tribe, I think they were just a society of OW Creatures that lived up higher than Glacier Plains (however it seems like they were meant to be their own thing, but this is kind of what I default to when making AUs where there are other Tribes occupying the 6th and 7th spots).
The monarchy in the OverWorld isn’t a typical monarchy. When in times of war, the council will elect a monarch as a tie-breaking vote that can veto or agree to motions set before them by other groups. Maxxor didn’t get the position because of his father, and in fact, he’s a better politician and negotiator that his dad. His father was a better general and warrior though, and this is something older council members will use to needle him when unhappy with him.
OverWorlders have a strange superstition when it comes to twins. Many see it as a single entity that was split in half because the whole was “too bright a light to burn on its own” meaning that it likely would have only led a brief life that, while prosperous and happy, would unravel rapidly and severely. Most consider twins a blessing because of this, as it’s seen as a way of sparing the family from having to bury a child earlier than expected.
Most villages have ‘moon pendulums’, or a set of stones on chains that trace the orbit of the three moons over a huge pit of sand or gravel. It’s essentially a lunar calendar that helps them keep track of the holidays. Some have special stones of different colors or that glow in the dark, just as a way of making sure no one bumps into it at night.

hello! could i have a tarot reading for T (a noncanon from bungou stray dogs)? i wanted to ask, how did my relationship with fyodor impact him, and how did dazai feel after betraying me? i also had some pendulum questions (if its too much to request both, just tarot is fine!) which are: 1. was my death related to dazai's betrayal? 2. did oda forgive me? 3. did dazai and i fall out bc of something that happened w/ oda? 4. was i alone when i died? tysm! sorry this is so absurdly long lol
Ah omg this got me so excited I love the long ones I get to break out my witchy stuff for!!
For your relationship’s impact on Fyodor, I pulled the card specific to my deck titled Magick and Ritual. That tells me your relationship had a long lasting effect on him, and a good one at that. He may have started learning to channel his inner love towards other people through you, or started something as simple as teaching others small tasks. Over all, it had a very happy result, even if a short period of grieving may have been involved during some point in the process.
As for Dazai’s betrayal, I pulled the card titled Past Life Present Power. This card communicates that after the betrayal, their soul began to gather resources to help them grow, such as spiritual and physical ability. I feel like this is a way of saying they may have felt horrible and found ways to cope through teaching and training themselves physically, or learning how to communicate with the spirits. The other option is that they felt so amazing about it that it began to strengthen their soul, but that is not the energy I gathered from this.
Kiru says your death had nothing to do with their betrayal, Oda did forgive you, Dezai and you fell out because of something that happened with Oda, and you did not die alone. I hope this all helps!!
