Would you ever draw Spiser with beaded braids or just braids instead of dreadlocks?
I actually did something like that yesterday as part of a twin kuru au! In it, Na’vi have twin queues like the rest of the creatures on Pandora, so their hairstyles changed accordingly. Spider too rocks twin braids (dutch braids in this case, braided out of his dreads) to mimic the hairstyle of the Na’vi, as he does in the cannon with his one braid.

Characters have to make some difficult image choices in this au so no bald Lyle😔

That handsome boy from the sky pt 4 (caught with Neteyam AU)
Part four of the series in which Spider and and Teyam escape RDA, only to come to Awa’atlu and find out that, surprisingly, Spider is considered uniquely attractive by reef Na’vi standards. (All other parts in the pinned post)
.
.
“What in Eywa’s name do these idiots even see in him??” Aonung pouted, kicking a rock as he sat against a cliff protruding through the sand, waves occasionally enveloping his legs.
“Seriously? Weren’t you wagging your tail at him yesterday??” Roxy chimed in.
‘Nung blushed. “Weren’t you?”
“Yeah I was.” He smiled proudly. “Can you blame me? He’s so dreamy! And his natural hair~” He mused, kicking his feet and closing his eyes.
Aonung made a gagging sound. Sure, he had a weak moment yesterday, he liked what he saw, but he doesn’t like like that Spider kid!
“…Whatever. He’s just a human.”
“A very strong one! Kiri said that one time, when sky people came back and they were running away from, uh, iron viper-wolves? Socorro threw a bolder three times his size at them!”
Chief son’s eyes widened. Alright, out of all the things he heard about this demon, this feat was certainly an impressive one. How much does a bolder weight anyway? How much do I weight—
“What!?” The boy exclaimed when he heard Roxto giggling.
“I know what you’re thinking~!” He giggled again. “It’s okay you know. We gotta go hang out with them tonight anyway.”
“What??”
“They’ll be attending the anemone harvest festival.” Roxto stood. “The Sullies want to integrate their big bros properly, since they weren’t here for the last one! And, you know, Neteyam’s really sweet too.”
“Uh huh.” Aonung rolled his eyes. “He’s just as scrawny as the rest of them.”
“But his shoulders are broad!”
“Pfff, Spider’s are broader.”
“Oh so you DO like him??”
“W-N-NO!”
***
“Hang out with who now?” Neteyam didn’t even try to cover a grimace that made its way onto his face.
“Aonung and Tsireya?? Y’know, Olo’eyktan’s children?” Lo’ak reiterated. “They’ll get you accustomed to the traditions and the dancing.”
“Yeah, we got the Tsireya and the tradition part, they’re not the problem bro.” Spider’s bushy brows furrowed as he crushed herbes into a sea-shell mortar. “You want us to be buddy-buddy with Aonung? The "let me leave you to your death in the middle of nowhere" Aonung? The "let me bully a fourteen-year old for things she can’t control" Aonung?”
“Listen, we haven’t really forgiven him for it.” Kiri stepped in. “But he’s changed for the better! Roxto was a good influence on him.”
“Is the Roxto kid going to be there?”
“I heard he’s nice.”
“He is! And ‘Nung is a lot of fun when he’s not an asshole.”
Oldest Sullies exchanged a glance. The idea of being around a boy who directly hurt their siblings wasn’t a fun one, but if they were insisting so badly, and the festival was allegedly a lot of fun, they guessed they had no choice but to give it a chance.
“Okay then. We gotta prepare right? Where do we start?”
Kiri grinned.
***
“Alright, the nets have been fixed, the platform stands strong, and the flowers sit just right…” Tsireya thought out loud, surveying the beautiful, tightly woven platform that was raised in front of the beach and would function as a dance floor for the celebrations. The harvest was rich this season, and Metkayina were giddy with the idea of eating, dancing and drinking all night, dressed in beads, shells and most importantly; the many colourful pond flowers that grew in small pools deep within the village, as well as the caves all over Awa’atlu, in the depths of the island’s rainforest. She often liked wearing the pink variety, what they call ‘the berry tulip’, and would tonight braid more of them into her hair. She couldn’t wait!
“Reya!”
A high-pitched voice chirped and she knew instantly who it was.
“You think these would look good hanging over the fire-pit?” Fwasim showed her garlands of delicate, almost transparent quartz crystals. “I was thinking that the light from the fire would reflect off of them, and bring more colour to the festival!”
“They look incredible! Did your father collect them?“
“Nope! My handiwork!” She giggled at Tsireya’s wide eyes.
“Ah, it’s amazing, friend! Go hang them up right now!”
The girl wasted no time, approaching grown-ups who were securing the fire-pit structure, when she heard another familiar voice come from behind her.
“Hey Reya~” Lo’ak mused, smiling and yet already embarrassed at his own boldness.
“What do you want?” She smirked, arms crossed but no malice behind it.
“Y’know…since you dressed me, Kiri n’ Tuk so well last time I thought…maybe…you could—“
“Help braid your brothers’ hair?”
He nodded, his smirk turning into a guilty grin. “Mom and dad are busy right until the festives start so..”
“Do they have something to wear at least?” She chuckled.
“Oh yes, we solved that, it’s just the jewellery and the hair…would you help us, oh tsakarem?”
The girl pushed him. “Oh stop you!”
***
“I don’t know Tuk…do I really need this?”
“Of course! I’m telling you, all the prettiest boys will wear this stuff at the festival!”
“Uh huh…”
"Pretty" wasn’t something Spider thought he’d give another try to imitate. His body wasn’t delicate enough, like his siblings’. Being human, he gave up on trying to appear good-looking a long time ago, thinking that thanks to his species and ancestry, whatever chance at attention he could have had been thrown down the river. Well, until recently.
“You look sick, dude!” Lo’ak complemented, entering the marui with Tsireya who held a large basket and she gasped in wonder, seeing the big Sully brothers ready for the holiday. Neteyam looked as elegant as ever with the top that she helped weave, seashells the colour of sunrise being their centrepiece.
Spider, on the other hand, looked perfect in his own right.
“You really are a sun lily in twilight.” Tsireya smiled. “Who made the top?”
The top she spoke of was a piece of art. Carefully crafted strings shone in the dark of Socorro’s shadow, made from pressed sea plants, and over his chest lay a pattern of small, azure crystals. They glittered, reflecting streaks of light emitting from flames of the cook fire, and Spider made the loincloth match it by tying a similarly woven ornament over it. He looked horribly insecure under his family’s gazes.
“Tuk wanted to put the newest gift to good use.”
“A gift?”
“Was laying next to the entrance when we got back from foraging the anemones.” Neteyam smirked. “But I recognzie that crystal work from somewhere..”
“Must be Fwasim, she loves incorporating gems in her clothes.” Spider added, twirling. “I owe her a big one for this.”
Tsireya giggled. That must has been her exact plan all along. She knew the forest boy was too noble to remain in dept, and that girl definitely planned to use it to her advantage.
“You both look just great! It’s only hair that is left and me and Kiri will help you all braid them. I brought some flowers, pick which ones you want.
The boys and their littlest sister swarmed around the basket, picking out plants for their ornaments. Spider’s gaze was fixed on tsawksyul, the big sun lily resting between smaller buds, the very nickname Tsireya and previously the girls around Awa’atlu used for him. Its golden petals were ten times as beautiful as he could ever hope to be, and felt too eye-catching for him to wear. He’d look like a narcissist…
“You want the lily?”
“Wh-no no no! I-it’s too much for me.”
“Why not? I think you’ll look gorgeous!” Tuk asked.
“‘Gorgous’ isn’t my thing Tuk…” The blonde rubbed his neck.
“Bullshit! Bro, it’s a party, you’re supposed to look your best!”
“I’ll look like an idiot.”
“You’ll look like a boy who put effort into himself for once.” Neteyam remarked a bit sternly. “Looking festive at a festival won’t kill you.” He then gently picked the flower. “Tsireya, can you help me here?”
***
The first song had begun, grown Metkayina playing drums, flutes and string instruments to create upbeat melodies.
Neytiri, with a bright blue flower over her left ear, approached Ronal who rested on a palette, her queue connected to a soundly sleeping baby in her sling. Tsahik motioned ‘I see you’ to her as she sat next to. “Where are your children?“
“I let them go early to get ready. Could not do so myself however…” She looked to the gathering crowd of teenagers and young adults.
“It is alright. First half of the festives is mostly for the youth anyway.”
“You didn’t mind that when you danced the night away while four months into your pregnancy.”
Ronal smirked. “I had to have some fun before she arrived…” Then smiling down at the slumbering babygirl, who was completely unbothered by the loud music and chatter going on around her. “I realise I haven’t apologised..”
“For what?”
“For doubting your family when you came here. You have adapted well, so had your children, each of them unique in their skills, and your eldest is everything we thought he’d be.”
Neytiri didn’t know how to answer. When Spider returned to Awa’atlu with Neteyam after escaping the Sea Dragon, it felt strange to hear Metkayina refer to him as her oldest child, instead of the one she considered her biggest pride, but she didn’t have the heart to correct them with the amount of stories she heard from her son about their captivity.
“He kept me safe, mother.” “He was the only one who stood between me and the demons.” “If not for him, they’d force me to tell them where the clan hides!” “He stayed loyal to us.”
Spider Socorro kept her son safe, then chose to run with him when his own father was right there. She could not overlook that.
And after his return, things only became further complicated. Spider helped around as much as he could, tiring himself out for weeks to earn his keep, and always there to have the Sullies back, her back.
Neytiri was unsure of what exactly Spider was to her personally at the moment, but he was without a doubt part of the family. It felt embarrassing how long it took her to realise it.
Just then, the chatter in the crowd of teenagers died down and they stilled, looking down one of the paths leading to the platform.
It was Tsireya, Tsahik in training, accompanied by the Sullies, all dressed up for the festival. Among the new guests walked Neteyam, the ever elegant Na’vi, and an ideal of an Omatikaya, and after him…
“It’s Spider!”
And it was indeed him, following Neteyam and cautiously brushing dreads off his shoulders, hoping the lily Tsireya braided wouldn’t be damaged.
“You look breathtaking!” One of the girls fawned with stars in her eyes.
Could Spider argue that? Barely, he thought, for the first time since setting foot on these shores, smiling to himself. This time the compliments felt deserved, if only for the effort of his new friends.
“Come dance with us!”
“Ah ah ah!” Then Fwasim appeared seemingly out of the blue, beating other kids to it as she motioned a greeting to him. “You like the gift I made~?”
“ ‘Like’ is an understatement!” Spider grinned. “It’s amazing! Don’t know how to thank you for this.”
“You could start by giving me a dance.” She smirked, her tale wagging playfully.
Slightly blushing, Socorro took her hand. He couldn’t refuse a friend could he? And for such a generous gift…
Some of the teens huffed, jealous of Fwasim cleverly wrapping the boy around her finger, watching her as she showed Spider the proper dance moves and walked him through them.
“Relax your muscles, let the wind guide you like a current.”
Again, the blonde didn’t normally do gracefulness. He considered himself far too "feral", as the elder Omatikaya put it, to move in sync with the world around him, but festive garments gave him a kind of confidence he only ever felt in rare, measured doses.
And when Spider grows confident, his playful side comes out like never before.
The first dance was over and Fwasim excused herself to help with other decorations around the beach, so Spider cast a mischievous glance towards the crowd, approaching it. “Kiri, s’it okay if I have your shawl for a minute?”
“What for? Too cold?”
“Nah. You know, the clan has been so kind to us, showing their way of things.” He purposefully raised his voice so the teens could hear and immediately, they were all ears. “Just thought I’d show them some culture of our own~”
Taking the shawl, Socorro winked at her and Kiri gasped, covering her mouth and grinning, then looking at the kids. This was gonna be fun.
The dance Spider prepared to perform was a tad bit flirty, and she never saw her big brother be the one to try it, as he never felt brave enough to join the other older kids back home. Until tonight it seems.
The music started and moving in harmony with it, Spider pulled the shawl on, holding both of its ends and sliding towards the crowd with a devious smile. Youngsters watched him, giggling flusterdly and batting their eyelashes at him, until suddenly, Socorro fixed his eyes on the shyest of the group; the girl who had broken her ankle not long ago, and swiftly pulled the shawl over her head and behind her back, pulling her towards him and the dance floor.
The crowd exploded in whistles, squeals and laughs. The girl’s friends, happy to see her being noticed by a popular boy, gently nudged her towards him.
She was completely and utterly flustered to say the least, but that didn’t stop her from putting her hands in Spider’s and letting him guider her through the Omatikaya dance, thought she made no eye contact with him.
“Aww, am I not even worth a glance?” The blonde frowned.
“W-what? No! No of course not I—“
“Am I really that filthy?“
“No!” She exclaimed with wide eyes, grasping his shoulders. “You-y-you…look…incredible…”
For a moment Spider’s intense, dark eyes were locked on her and that poor girl’s heart skipped a beat, her ears fluttering like butterfly wings.
And then he got close to her face and smirked. “It’s okay, I know, was just messing with you.” Then chuckled, freeing her from the confines of his sister’s shawl. “Cheers for the anemone harvest festival. Have a good night~” And just like that, the boy was gone, leaving his dance partner surprised by the sudden disappearance, but a shy smile on her face nonetheless.
Aonung and Roxto arrived when Socorro began scouring the crowd again. “Eywa! They started without me!”
“The festives are for the whole village, skawng. No one’s gonna wait for your lazy ass.” Neteyam teased, appraising the simple jewellery he wore. *The boy didn’t even try.*
“Yeah, well, somebody had to help collect the remaining anemones! My and your fathers will be here any minute.”
And just as he said that, the two men appeared out the shadows, settling next to their wives.
“Hey baby. How’s the festives?”
“Our children have a lot more fun than last time.” She smiled, looking at the Sully kids dancing near the flames of the fire.
And among said kids was Spider, locking a reef boy in a dance with him by pulling a green, woven shawl over his head.
Immediately, Jake’s eyes widened to size that of a tulkun’s. “Who’s that?”
Ronal leaned towards him. “Ora. An excellent fisherman, one of the best warriors in our clan. Very responsible, a good choice, though the rest are no worse.”
“The rest???”
“Yes, Spider danced with a variety of partners, he has good taste.” Tonowari nodded in approval.
Sully barely held his jaw from hitting the floor. He left this kid on his own for one day and now the adults are thinking that he is choosing a future mate. The idea could chase away some unserious suitors but those who felt persistent enough would likely take this as a sign to start trying to court him.
Jake looked forward to grounding his stupid son for the next ten years when they got back home.
***
Giddy, Spider plopped down on the edge of a woven deck next to Kiri, who was munching a sweet snack. She offered her plate to him as he carefully wrapped the shawl around his sister’s shoulders.
“Having fun?”
“You bet!” He chirped, taking a deep breath and removing his mask to get a taste of the fried flower petals, covered in a syrup similar in taste to honey.
“Those poor children had no idea what to do with themselves!” She giggled again. “Where did you learn to be smooth like that?”
“Kiri, c’mon.” The boy spoke after putting his mask back on, mouth stuffed with sugary goods. “I always had it in me! No teacher needed.”
“I never saw that side of you back in the forest.”
“Well…” He shrugged. “There wasn’t really anyone to show it to…”
“…Do you like it here?”
“Huh?”
“Awa’atlu.”
“I mean…I won’t stop missing the forest. It’s our roots y’know, but..”
“But?”
“It’s beautiful. When I’m in the water I feel connected to the great mother like I never had before, the ilus are cute and Metkayina are…nice.” Socorro smiled, his cheeks reddening. “Not the same as the jungle, but I’ll be fine!”
“Okay, good…”
“Why the question?”
“I hoped you weren’t getting uncomfortable with the attention.”
“Uncomfortable?? Kiri I’m a celebrity!”
“Uh huh.” She rolled her eyes.
“Who wouldn’t like being handsome??”
“You were always handsome, dumbass.” The girl nudged him playfully, and Spider grinned…
Because for the first time in forever, he felt like agreeing.
.
.
Anyway, hope you liked my longest chapter of this fic! This fanfic is insanely fun to write! Let me know in the ask box if you have anything to say!

Avatar isn’t just some movie, it’s my whole life. I genuinely don’t know how I lived before I watched them. It’s honestly overwhelming how much I think about Pandora and the Na’vi and the cast quite honestly. It’s what gets me through life, and I know it’s not healthy, but it’s the first thing I think of when I wake up, it’s my last thought before I fall asleep. It’s my distraction, my coping mechanism, my happy place. I cry thinking about this movie, I smile thinking about this movie. The joy it brings me talking about it is unimaginable, I could go on for months. The ache in my chest when I think about these movies is indescribable, oh how I want to be in avatar. I don’t think anything I’ll ever watch will compare to this franchise. I just remember the pure joy and admiration I felt watching atwow in the movie theatre for the first time, remembering how I instantly fell in love with Pandora.
You know, maybe I am just some lonely 16 year old who’s obsessed with avatar. I don’t care, these movies are what makes me feel alive.

Part 3
Chosen|pt2
The girl saw her father landing in the water. Lay’ra quickly ran to her father greeting him. When Tonowari saw his daughter running to him he immediately spread his arms waiting to embrace her and the girl didn’t hesitate to fall into her father’s arms.
Once she pulled away she looked in his eyes.
“Toruk Makto and his family are here” Lay’ra spoke waiting for her father to say something. Tonowari looked at his daughter, his expression hardened. He knew what happened to Lay’ra before she arrived at the Awa’atlu village, before she became his daughter.
Tonowari patted the girls head before turning to the direction of the newcomers. He started walking toward the forest na’vi, Lay’ra was trailing behind him. When they reached them Lay’ra went to her brother and sister only hearing the sully family asking for uturu before zoning out. She wondered why they are here.
She snapped out of the daydreaming when she heard a hiss coming from Neytiri who hissed at Ronal and Ronal hissing back at her. Now usually she would ignore anything similar to this because she knows her mother can handle herself, but this time she felt anger bubbling in her stomach. She hurried to her mother’s side hissing at Neytiri. The girl frowned her eyebrows.
“You seek uturu yet you dare to hiss at our tsahik!” Lay’ra spoke loudly. Her mother placed a hand on her shoulder and that’s when she turned to face the woman.
Ronal like Tonowari knew what Toruk Makto did to Lay’ra, that’s one of the reasons she didn’t want to let them stay. Ronal looked at her daughter’s eyes as if asking should they be allowed to stay or go somewhere else. The girl looked at her mother’s eyes with a soft smile nodding her head. Lay’ra didn’t wouldn’t let them stay out of kindness but because of the children, the children were raised in war and she felt sympathy for them. Tonowari and Ronal exchanged looks before Tonowari spoke out loud saying that the newcomers will be allowed to stay.
Lay’ra heard her father saying that they will teach the newcomers, Ao’nung groaned and went to argue with his father who shut him up, Tsireya was welcoming and helped them carry their things while Lay’ra slowly came closer to Jake Sully offering her hand to take something from him. Jake looked at Lay’ra with sadness in his eyes before slowly giving her some of his things. She didn’t say anything just took what he gave and started walking them to a place that will be their new home.
Lay’ra showed them their home putting things in the corner of the marui. Her sister has already walked off and her brother was nowhere to be seen. The girl was helping the kids taking stuff from them and putting it in the same corner. After she was done she huffed and smiled turning to the family.
“Will you be joining us for communal breakfast tomorrow?” Lay’ra asked tilting her head with a smal smile, mostly trying not to look to Jake or Neytiri.
“Can we?” Asked Neteyam.
“Of course you can and I assume you will” The girl said smiling at him, her tail swinging from side to side.
“I will come and get you in the morning” Lay’ra said walking away from the Sully marui to her family’s one. Lay’ra knew that Tsireya and Ao’nung will take care of them today, she doesn’t need to intervene. So with that thought in mind she walked to her home.
When the days end was nearing and her siblings and parents returned Lay’ra tackled all of them in a hug laughing with such a mischievous smile.
The night went by quickly and when morning rolled around Lay’ra knew she had to get up earlier to go grab the Sullys for communal breakfast. She stood up looking at her already awake parents before silently going to both of them hugging them.
“Good morning” She said sweetly.
“Good morning my child” Ronal replied kissing the girls forehead. Lay’ra just giggled quietly.
“Are you ready for today? As a tsakrem you will have to help Jake Sully and his mate with the lessons” Tonowari said to the girl.
A year after accepting Lay’ra as a daughter, Ronal received a vision, the vision showed Lay’ra as a tsakrem so Ronal decided to accept the said girl to become her apprentice. Although Tsireya was already learning to become a tsahik Ronal decided to make Lay’ra her other tsakrem.
The girl nodded at her father’s words.
“I know, even if it’s my duty I do not want to interact with them but I will teach them just like I teach children. They are the same aren’t they? They know nothing of the way of water.” Lay’ra took her father’s hand in her own before gently squeezing it.
“Oh look at the time I told them I will grab them for communal breakfast I must go”Lay’ra said looking at the villagers going out of their marui homes. She lifted her self up from the ground, letting her father’s hand go before running out of her family’s marui.
The girl ran to the Sully family, greeting all of the villagers that she met on the way before she reached her destination.
“Good morning!” Lay’ra burst in to the marui.
“Good morning” Tuk and Kiri replied sleepily.
“Hi” Lo’ak and Neteyam replied in unison.
Lay’ra smiled warmly at the kids, after all she couldn’t be mad at them. The kids did nothing wrong to her, they might not even remember her. But the parents, when she looked at the parents her smile fell along with her ears. Lay’ra looked coldly at the adults in front of her.
“I came to take you to communal breakfast, follow me” She said before turning her back to them. She slowly started walking, letting the kids chatch up to her, Lay’ra saw the parents move behind their kids slowly following her.
The girl guided them to an open space where there was only sand and a bonfire lit. She saw other na’vi and when the villagers saw her they greeted her with an I see you, the girl returned the gesture to the villagers. Lay’ra saw how the villagers formed a circle around the bonfire. Her father and mother with her siblings were up front.
“Come I will show you where to sit” The girl led the family of 6 to the front, so they could talk things out with the leaders of the clan.
After they were seated she quickly and happily walked to her family before plopping to the sand.
“I’m back and I brought the Sully’s like I said” The girl said turning to her mother.
“That’s good” Ronal said patting her daughter’s head. The girl smiled before her father passed her a leaf with fish and fruits on it.
“Thank you” Lay’ra said to her father as she took the leaf from him.
The girl was unaware of the two pair of eyes looking her way but Ronal was. She glared at Jake and Neytiri who quickly returned to their food. Tonowari sensing he’s wife’s change in the air spoke up.
“I will teach you Jake Sully the way of the water, my mate will teach your wife. The breathing will be taught by our daughter Lay’ra”
The adults ears perked up at hearing the information. Eyes looking between all 3 of them.
“Your children will be taught by my daughter Tsireya and son Ao’nung, Lay’ra will help them if they struggle” Tonowari continued his speech.
“Yes father” The three siblings said in unison.
After Lay’ra was done with breakfast she turned to her father.
“I will go to pick up some shells from the ocean for my new headpiece I’m making. After your done with Jake Sully I will come to take him for the breathing lessons” Them Lay’ra turned to her mother.
“The same goes for Neytiri. I will come to take her for the breathing lessons” The girl said before her mother placed a hand on her cheek and Lay’ra leaned into her mother’s hand.
The girl stood up and walked away to the sea humming a song that Ronal had sung her when she had nightmares about the times before she came here. Lay’ra called her ilu. Gently making tsaheylu, she got on the creature’s back before diving in to the water.
When she was deep enough she broke the bond as gently as when she made it before swimming to pick up the shells. Lay’ra swam picking all the colourful shells putting them in a pouch she had, when she had enough she swam up to the surface calling for her ilu who immediately came to her. When Lay’ra reached the land she saw her father who was walking alongside Jake Sully.
“Father!” The girl shouted waving her hand before she got off of her ilu and ran to her father.
“Is Jake Sully done with his lesson with you?” Lay’ra asked smiling at her father. Tonowari nodded in response.
“That’s great, that means mother must be done with Neytiri?” The girl asked again.
“Yes they should be done by now” Her father answered. Tonowari didn’t want to let his daughter be alone with the ones that hurt her but as a tsakrem she had to fulfil her duties.
Lay’ra turned to Jake her smile disappeared, her ears fell, she held a cold expression and her tail stopped swaying in excitement.
“Then Jake Sully come with me we will go to your mate” She turned around, not before waving her father goodbye, and started walking. Jake followed behind her not saying anything.
When they reached their destination they saw Ronal trying to teach Neytiri to ride an ilu. Neytiri was unsuccessful.
“Mother!” The girl shouted stepping into the water. The water reached her tights, her tail was swaying in the water again from excitement of seeing her mother.
The girls mother turned attention from Neytiri and when she saw her daughter her hard expression turned to a soft one.
“We are done here!” Ronal shouted to Neytiri before swimming to the girl on her ilu. As soon as she was close to the girl she broke the bond with the creature and went to her daughter’s side. She hugged her daughter and cupped her daughter head kissing her forehead.
“Did you find any shells that you like?” Ronal asked Lay’ra who nodded her head reaching for the pouch she had strapped on to her hip.
“Look aren’t they pretty?” The girl asked the mother. The mother gave a nod in response. Neytiri swam to her husband side. She was tired, couldn’t tame an ilu, she couldn’t adjust to this new environment.
“I will take both of them from here” Lay’ra said to her mother. Ronal looked at her daughter in sadness. Even if the girl looked like a forest na’vi with a tail of the metkayina she was still her daughter. And she despised the idea of her teaching someone who had hurt her in the past. The mother turned to the Omaticaya couple glaring daggers at them before looking to her daughter gently embracing her.
“Good luck my child” Ronal whispered in her ear before pulling away. She gave her daughter one last smile before she walked past her, Ronal needed to return to her tsahik duties.
Lay’ra didn’t talk to them and started walking. The couple got the point and followed her. She took them to a place that was peaceful and nothing other than water’s rustling could be heard.
“Today I will teach you how to breathe” The girl said turning around to face them.
“But we are already breathing” Jake said confused.
“Not from here” Lay’ra said placing her hand on her chest.
“From here” She placed a hand on her stomach.
“If you want to live her you have to act like us. That includes breathing like us, swimming like us, moving like us.” She said sternly.
“You have thin arms your tails are thin you will be slow in water, that’s why you have to work harder” Lay’ra said circling around them.
“But you to have thin arms” Jake said without thinking.
“And I have a tail that gave me oh so many attention back where you came from!” She hissed at him.
“Don’t expect me to be a soft teacher. I won’t help you if you don’t want to learn so watch carefully and listen closely to what I say” Lay’ra said before siting near the water.
“Come sit the lesson will start now”

ೄྀ࿐ ˊˎ- Kiri sully x sister of Roxto! reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: You defend kiri from your little brother and his friends, and something sparks between you both.
a/n: kiri’s such a cutieeee i had to write something for her. I swear that eywa was the one who placed her in grace’s womb after they tried to save her at the spirit tree
Tumblr media
kiri stare down at the water before her, seeing the small animals poke their heads from the small bits of sand; admiring the way they behaved.
her view was obscured by a shadow looming over her, followed by a few more. Kiri rose from the water, barely hearing the foul words of the Metkayina boys that stand in front of her.
“huh?” she asked curiously, standing up. “what’d you say?” the boys laughed, “are you some kind of.. freak?” Aonung asked, “he asked if you are a freak!” Roxto repeated as Kiri sigh, her ears falling down as she retreated to the shore; “no.”
Aonung and the group followed close behind, “are you sure?” he mocked, speeding up to catch her.
“i mean, you’re not even real Na’vi.” he tried to grab her hand, but she pulled away as the other boys laughed.
suddenly, a girl appeared from behind Aonung, slapping him in the head. “Aonung! Roxto!” you loudly said, a Na’vi accent very heavy in your voice— watching his ears fall back. “How dare you insult our guest.” you bit, ears pinned back as you defended Kiri. She’d never seen you before— well, perhaps once or twice around Tsireya, but never getting a good look at your face.
“But, sister, we were-“ Roxto tried defending their actions. you interrupted him, “you should be ashamed of yourself, brother.” you sigh. “as should all of you. How dare you speak to someone so cruelly.” They listened to your words, Aonung rolling his eyes as Kiri watched with bewildered. “Eywa would be displeased with your actions. Mistreating one of her creations is the action of sky people.” Your words made Aonung angry, trying to grab Kiri’s hand to prove a point. You smacked his fingers away, growling at his antics and successfully defending her. “your father would be humiliated at your actions, aonung . do not embarrass the olo'eyktan anymore than you already have.” His face dropped, ears pinning behind his head as yours did. “Leave, and take my pitiful excuse as a brother and your other dumb friends away from her, do not bother to come back unless you seek to apologize.” Roxto sigh at your words, grumbling as him and his group walked off, your eyes on them until they were far enough away.
“are you alright?” you asked her, searching for any possible wounds. she only looked at you, swallowing. “yes.. thank you.”
you sent her a sheepish smile. “of course. I apologize for my brother and his embarrassing actions. He can be a skxawng.” Kiri laughed a little at your words, and you smiled. “You are Kiri, yes?” you made sure, watching her head nod.
“wonderful. would you like to go for a swim?” you offered, watching as she nodded her head hesitantly. “do not worry, i will not be like my brother.”
you two made your way into the ocean, gliding smoothly against the water as you held your breath. You were pleasantly surprised by how long kiri could hold her breath- much longer than you’d expected for an omaticaya. your smiled didn’t falter as you two swam, and neither did hers. You two swam under the sea together in a rhythm you didn’t know was possible. The animals were so welcoming to kiri, almost as she spoke to them. You admired her love for the world Eywa has created, and you began to question her heritage. You were clearly a more clean swimmer, but you absolutely adored being with her. She smiled as fish followed you both in the ocean, and you enjoyed the sight. her smile was beautiful.
You clicked for an Ilu, grabbing hold and calling one for Kiri as well- you both riding together- ilu swimming around one another before coming to surface upon seeing others riding together.
you both came from the ocean, coming face to face with some of Kiri’s siblings.
“Kiri!” the young one spoke, excited to see her older sister. Tsireya saw you, and you rode up to her. “what is happening?” you question, seeing her eyes dart between you and Kiri. “I am teaching them to ride Ilu.” she answered softly, and you looked to Kiri for a moment. “Kiri seems to have mastered that. Do you mind if i teach her something else?” you ask the tsakarem’s permission politely, seeing her nod her head in approval with a smile. You returned it, Ilu leaving Tsireya to approach Kiri.
her attention flew from her sister to you, “would you like to swim more?” you ask, seeing her eyes light as she smiled; nodding. “Yes.”
“wonderful. follow me.” you say, bidding farewell and going off with Kiri.
over the next few weeks, you and Kiri had become unexpectedly close. you were the missing piece in her life that she didn’t know she was missing. Every moment she spent with you, she felt as though the empty, incomplete hole in her chest slowly began to fill. Friendship? or perhaps more? she questioned herself when she saw you, your beautiful smile taking up your face in a way she’d never seen. You had asked to come over to her family cot, offering to show them something very special that your family remains dear to their heart. Kiri obliged, nervous to have you around her family for no apparent reason.
She met with you by the beach you both originally met, walking with you to her home as you held a small, hand crafted basket in your arms. As you approached, your smiled grew. “I am excited to meet your family,” you admitted, a small blush on your cheeks that Kiri convinced herself was her imagination. “why?” she laughed. “Because, they raised you. they must be amazing, not to mention incredibly proud.” your eyes met hers, and kiri’s heart rate picked up in that unfamiliar rhythm that it does when you are near.
your smile only grew upon the sight of her parents- who didn’t know you’d be here. surprised landed on their faces as you walked in with their eldest daughter.
your smile was wide, “Mr and Mrs. Sully,” you greeted, bowing your head respectfully- kiri nervously fidgeting behind you, wondering why she didn’t stop you. “Mom, dad, this is Y/n. she’s..” kiri paused for a moment, looking to your side profile. “my friend.” she finished, her mother and father sharing a glance.
“I wanted to bring you something very special,” you spoke. “I understand that some people in my clan can be very insensitive about what they say and who they say it to,” you sigh, “I want to formally apologize for my immature Brothers actions towards your children.” you pulled out something wrapped, Neytiri listening to yours word’s insightfully. “They were tasked to assist in making you feel comfortable- perhaps even at home in our clan.” You fixed the bow on the present. “They have failed miserably, and no doubt Eywa is shaming them for their embarrassing actions upon you and your family.”
Kiri didn’t know that you came to apologize- her face was red with embarrassment. “I look forward to having the honor of you all staying in Awa'atlu, and i’ve brought something that i hope you enjoy with the other members of your wonderful family.” you slowly approached Neytiri, smiling sincerely as you bow deeply. Her ears were perked from the moment you began to speak, your words were filled with nothing but pure honesty spoken from the heart, respect dripping from your voice and Neytiri decided she liked you than and there. Jake.. wasn’t sure.
“Mìn'trìfì.” Neytiri spoke, and you nodded. “Hayalo oeta. Eywa ngahu.” you bow to both of them once more before smiling to Kiri and taking your exit. Kiri stood absolutely bewildered, shock evident on her face. “She was nice.” Neytiri spoke, unwrapping the squishy square gift you’d placed in her hand, the wrapping falling off reveling 6 pink, soft sweets Neytiri didn’t know the name of. They looked handmade, and she was grateful to your realization of how your clan treated her family, giving her a peaceful homemade gift.
“she didn’t say she was going to apologize. it isn’t even her fault what her brother does.” Kiri frown, Neytiri doing the same. “oh, kiri.”
the next time you saw Kiri, she was sitting on the sand. You excitedly approached her, sitting directly beside her. “Kaltxì!” you greeted, used to saying hello in your birth language. “Why are you alone?” you question, seeing the solemn look on her face. “I.. i do not fit in here.” she confessed, and your heart slowed as you let out a sigh.
“kiri,” you called, her ears twitching at your tone of voice. “you are very silly.” your words made her look at you with confusion. You grinned, taking her hands in yours enthusiastically. “You fit in very well, Paskalin.”
Kiri’s heart skipped a beat at the nickname you’d given her; ‘sweet flower.’
“what do you mean?” she asked you. “I mean..” you thought deeply, thinking if your words were the correct ones to say at this time. “I mean that you fit in anywhere that Eywa has placed her hand.” your words confused the other na’vi. “you are connected to her, Kiri. i do not know if you realize, but Eywa sees you.” your words made kiri’s heart falter, your beautiful, big eyes staring into hers as you placed a hand on her heart. “She is inside you. you both are connected between more than just being her creation. A part of her lives in you.” you whispered, her eyes wide.
Kiri was trying to say things, but every time she’s tried she was cut off by her trying to say something else, and her actions you found cute.
you sat closer, your four fingered hand still on her heart as you felt her pulse race. “I feel as though Eywa has been speaking to me; as though..” you hesitated, smiling shyly. “as though what?” kiri asked.
“as though she crafted us for each other.” you slid your fingers into place with hers- instantly finding a comfortable solace in her presence. Kiri’s heart beat with the rhythm of Eywas breaths, her eyes stared into yours as she agreed with your words. She’s never felt so connected to someone, you were her Pandora.
you saw the look in her eyes, smiling. you pulled out a small piece of jewelry from your side. Kiri’s eyes stare at it, and you placed it in the palm of her hand.
“will you be my muntxa si?” you whispered shyly, voice above a whisper as your ears were high in hopes of her words. she didn’t reply, staring at the beautiful necklace you placed in her hands as she recognized each of the shells on the string as a memory between you both. Her heart skipped a beat as you incorporated both your culture and her own into your courting gift, and her heart yearned for her to say yes- so she spoke as Eywa wanted her to.
“Yes.” she breathed out, smiling. your grin grew impossibly bigger, placing a soft kiss to the side of her cheek. You both thanked Eywa for allowing you both to find each other, to find your missing parts in one another. you will always be in debt to the great mother.

Avatar the way of water Spider x adoptive mom black reader! Can you do my hair?
Spider asks you to do his hair after seeing you change your hair style so many times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spider loved you he saw you as his mother he absolutely adores you seeing as you raised him and did not care who his father was unlike certain people and Hell's gate and Pandora he was just a kid what Spider noticed is that you always changed your hair it was either down, curled wavy but it was mostly in braids which he wanted so badly, so he talked to Kiri about it.
"You should ask her Spider!"
"What if she says no?"
"Why would she say no? "
"Because last time I asked she said no."
"Only because you had got an attitude with her because she warned you about how you weren't taking care of your hair!"
Spider glared at his friend who well he knew was right you had talked to him about keeping his hair from getting tangled up and you offered to fix it for him but he refused because he liked his hair how it was and didn't want to change it
(Mostly wanting to take after Jake's hair because he admire the man eh the Na'vi)
but you told him that he was human and it need to be taken care of which made him upset because he didn't want to be reminded that he was born a human and not one of the people. Which lend to a agurement and him leaving you haven't spoken since than which made him upset and wanted to apologize but was to embarrassed and stubborn to do.
"Dude just ask her already if she says no that's your fault for being a Skxawng!"
Both teens turned to see Lo'ak standing there with his arms crossed.
"Besides she didn't say no she just said "Okay don't come crying to me when your hair gets messed up kiddo!" Lo'ak tries mimics your voice but failed making Kiri laugh and Spider blush in embarrassment he gets up making the two look at him.
"Ya'know what fine! I'll go to her right now and ask her to do my hair there happy?"
"Good I can't wait to see your new do Monkey boy!"
"Sorry to bus your bubble Kiri but Dad wants us back home."
"Ugh fine but you will show me your hair monkeyboy!"
The boy laughs and nods his head while waving goodbye to his friends than went back to Hell's Gate to see his guardian aka his adopted his mom who was in her room braiding her long dark hair.
"Welcome home kid had fun today?"
"Yeah...hey uh mama Y/n."
"Hey punk what's up? Oh no."
"What?"
"What did you do?"
"Huh? What's make you think I did something I didn't even say anything yet!"
"Because of your face gives it all away kid please tell me you didn't piss off anyone or worse Neytiri?"
You say with an annoyed tone making Spider flinch a bit he knew you disliked Neytiri not that you hated her but you two always went at each other throat because of her dislike for Spider before you two were close like sisters until she found out you had decided to raise the child of the monster who was responsible for her home destruction, don't get me wrong you understood why but how she glares and treats Spider didn't sit right with you and you made it clear to her that you weren't going to put up with her behavior towards your child. Since than she's always avoided Spider, not wanting to mess up your friendship.
"No I didn't I just um wanted to ask you something?"
"Okay?"
You turned to look at him arms crossed he started fidgeting under your intense gaze it was silent for a minute before he let out a deep breath and looked at you with a nervous smile.
"Can you do my hair?"
Okay you were definitely not expecting that! You put a hand on your chest letting out a gasp.
"I'm sorry what? Did I just hear correctly did the Spider ask ME of all people do his hair? By Eywa It must be a miracle!"
He lets out a groan and rolls his eyes you laugh getting out of your chair giving him a kiss on his forehead.
"Of course love I'm glad you felt comfortable to ask me but you do know I'm going have to cut some of it?"
He let out a sigh nodding his head, he knew you would say that he also knew it was gonna hurt like hell.
"What made you decide to change you hair anyway?"
You ask while getting some of the stuff ready he didn't say anything but look down face getting warm, making you look back at him with a frown.
"Spider?"
"I just I felt bad about snapping on you for wanting to do something with my hair I talked to Kiri and she said I should have listened to you because you always changed your hair and you always made it look nice."
you have to remember to thank Kiri when you see her.
"Aww Spider it's okay I understand why you got so upset...but if you ever talk to me with that tone again I will make you regret it." He winced under your glare and because you pulled a bit of his hair.
"Yes ma'am..."
"Good now sit down and try to relax this is gonna take a while."
(Later)
Where's Spider? Tuk asked Kiri who was helping her with her food
"Asking auntie Y/n to do his hair."
"Why?"
"Because he wanted to fix it." Kiri shouldn't have said that because that made her sister get up with a grin on her face.
"I want to see!" Before Kiri knew it the little girl ran away from her.
"Tuk wait!" Kiri chased after her sister they ran passed the boys who also ended up chasing them.
(Back to you and Spider)
"Ow ow ow!"
"I told you to hold still!"
"But it hurts!"
"Well it's gonna hurt! This is why I told you before that this is what happens if you don't take care of your damn hair!"
He huffed under his breath saying something in Na'vi making you pull on his hair harder.
"Ow! Mama Y/n that hurt!
"Oh hush and watch what you say under you breath!"
"There done go see you freed hair wild thing."
Spider quickly escape from your grasp running to the bathroom to look in the mirror to his surprised his hair it was curly and shiny it felt weird at how light his hair was hell he could barely recognize himself, if it wasn't for the paint on his body you'd think he was a different person.
"I look....weird??" You laugh at the boy confused face ruffing his hair.
"You look handsome."
"Auntie! You both turn to see Tuk, Kiri and Lo'ak and surprisingly Neteyem come running towards you Tuk hugged your waist making you laugh at the child."
"Hi Tuk Tuk how are you babygirl?"
"I'm fine I missed you Auntie! Kiri said you were doing Spider's hair! Is that true?"
"Yep! We are just letting it breathe for a bit before he picks out what hair style he wants."
The kids starred in shock as they saw their human friend/brother come from his hiding spot messing with his curls.
"Whoa..." Lo'ak starred at his friend in disbelief not believing that it was the same boy, while Tuk bounced around the room excited running to get a better look at the boy's hair.
"Spider you lool so pretty!" Tuk runs over to play with his hair.
"Thanks Tuk Tuk."
"You do look good monkey boy." Kiri says also playing with his hair making him flustered from all the attention he was getting.
"How'd you manage to do that Auntie?" Neteyem asked standing next to you also impressed on Spider's free hair.
"My mother."
I was raised by a black mom with five daughters who always wanted their hair to be kept upright. Your mother was strict when it came to taking care of your hair but you were thankful.
"Okay now Spider time for you to pick which hair style you want boo."
Tumblr media
"Whoa they all look pretty cool it's hard to pick!" Lo'ak looked at the book with all different kinds of hairstyles.
"We could help!"
"Aw thanks Tuk Tuk now let's begin!"
With that you got to work on his hair lucky because you untangled amd washed it, it was easy to do Lo'ak was watching making fun of Spider face expressions, Kiri punched his arm glaring at him while giving Spider a smile trying to ease his pain helping you do the blonde locs, Neteyam looked through some of your magazines with the different hair styles along with Tuk who had a snack in her hand it took a they were interested with the different styles and asked you a lot questions on them it helped make the day go by faster cause before you knew it you were done with his hair you were exhausted!
(whichever one you all picked is now Spider's new hair style or whatever you think he'll look good with of course)
"You look good boo! You look so grown up and so handsome!"
The Sully kid's touched his hair amazed by the new look unable to believe that this was their Spider, making the poor kid embarrassed the ran out the room wanting to show everyone his new look befir3 he left he stopped at th3 door to turn to look, at you you raised an eyebrow at him wondering whatnhe wanted next thing you know he run's forward and hugged you tightly. You stood there surprised before you could react he let you go smiling running out the room after the Sully's
"THANKS MAMA Y/N I LOVE IT!!!"
You just stood there taking a minute to processes his words than a big grin spread across your face shaking your head I swear that kid is a pain in my ass but you loved him.

Will you ever make these Street Kid Spider fic or art? I still have your AU somewhere in the back of my mind
(Street kid!Spider AU introduction post)
I’m honestly amazed ppl still want it 😭 🫶 I’m currently a bit busy but here’s a little drabble to quench your hunger;
.
Kiri couldn’t help but aww at the cats curling around her, meowing in curiosity. Their old neighborhood had little to none strays but those who survived there had been very agressive. It was a surprise to see such a big pack of animals practically welcome her in.
Then again, she always had a way with fauna.
Traversing the abandoned mall, so overgrown it long turned into a jungle, she eyes the rusted metal and fading plaques. The sight was almost apocalyptic, if not for the blooming greenery in every crevice.
And then a loud clang erupted through h the corridor. Strays jumped in surprise, hiding behind their new friend, but the noise was made by a falling metal pipe. Nothing to be afraid of.
However, the featherlight steps that followed were a more valid reason for alarm. They sounded human. Kiri wasn’t alone.
The girl was taught better than this, she told herself as she followed the noise. She was taught better than to wander the abandoned shopping district after school and follow mysterious sounds.
She knew better, she thought, carefully climbing a tree into a dark attic.
The room seemed completely empty at first, safe for the napping cats on the old mattress, but the more Kiri looked, the more evidence she gathered that the old storage space was clearly lived in. There were personal items scattered about, like stacks of old, worn comic journals and then a smaller stack of equally worn sketchbooks. There was a tattered skateboard placed against the wall, and graffiti on the other side of the room, with spray-paint bottles resting on the floor. Above the mattress hung taped Christmas lights, and under them, a number of sketch pages detailing environments, stray animals, plants, people, and even some mythical creatures from the Na’vi religion, like the strong angstik or the gentle atokirina.
A Na’vi artist? Kiri thought, smiling. The stranger she’d heard not long ago suddenly seemed much less threatening.
“Have your mama never taught you how to knock?” Then came a raspy voice from behind her, sending an immediate chill down the girl’s spine. It felt cold, but youthful. Its owner couldn’t be much older than her. Slowly she turned, her blue eyes meeting a pair of deep brown ones, staring directly into her soul.
It was a teenage boy, but quite the bulky one for his age, if his scratched and bruised biceps were anything to go by. He wore a pair of camo pants, decorated with beads and trinkets, tucked into miss-matched boots. There was some hand-crafted jewelry on his wrists, and a necklace tied around his neck two times over. Some small wooden trinket hung off of it, together with a small crystal, but the clothing was by far not what grabbed Kiri’s attention most.
This stranger had what she could only describe as a lion’s mane. His hair, pale at the ends and dark at the roots, curled and coiled around his face, then shoulders, like a pack of vipers and she could see braids, big and small, hang in no particular pattern, as if the kid braided them out of boredom and just left them there.
“Uh, sorry? I got curious. Your pets are cute…”
“They’re not pets. I don’t keep them here, and they don’t rely on me for food.” He responded, deadpan. “You can’t own a cat, or any animal really, only be part of their pack.”
Kiri’s eyes widened, surprised at the respect he payed these creatures, then proceeded to smile once more. His manner of speaking about living beings very much sounded like something her grandma Mo’at would say.
“Of course. Never thought otherwise.” She responded gently, and the stranger relaxed his stance, carefully approaching. Kiri could now see that the "print" on his old shirt was actually a painted image of a viperwolf, another mythical creature spoken of in Na’vi legends.
“Who are you?”
“I’m Kiri. Kiri te Suli Kìreysì'ite.” She reached her hand to her forehead and gestured forward, gauging if he’d know what it means. Na’vi culture often fell victim to people who liked it only for the visual appeal, but the greeting was a lesser known sign, only something the people did towards their own. “My family moved into town couple days ago.”
The blonde tilted his head akin to a feline, eyeing her face, before his brows relaxed and he repeated the gesture, proceeding to switch into fluent Na’vi, which was another pleasant surprise. “Spider. This is kind of my house.”
“I’m really sorry.”
“Eh, you haven’t stolen anything yet so I’ll let it slide.” He shrugged, smirking. “Welcome to Awa’atlu. How’s the city treating you?”

A little fact you may want to know is that the songcord we see Spider wear on the image in the visual dictionary book seems to be an outdated version. The one Spider has in the movie is thick with beads and trinkets and other details we sadly never get to see.
Tumblr media
Also here’s Kiri’s as a bonus 🥹 it makes me kinda sad to see her cord be made of colourful beads, as Jake’s and Neteyam’s, but Spider’s cord is much darker, there are less colored parts and overall it strikes me as a little roughly crafted. It’s an interesting detail that speaks a lot about their personalities, Kiri being a bit more proper and a healer in training, accepted into a family, while Spider is an adventurous stray, a little rough around the edges.
