Are you surprised? Really, are you surprised?? This won't be a full series, I just wanted to do something for the kprewatch event and set maps are what I do best 🤷‍♀️ Especially because it involves watching the same episodes again and again very, very closely and going insane, which seems appropriate for all the brainrot VegasPete have caused me. The complete design:

Silly little observations below the cut, but also have this diagram that illustrates where all the scenes take place relative to the aerial shot from episode 11:

If you'd be interested in prints, let me know! I may end up having a crack at a more substantial safehouse piece. A front elevation view would be so interesting to put together.

A small note on my design choices/silly little observations: 1) The room where Pete is kept appears to be smaller and squarer than it is in the aerial shot. I'm guessing it's to accommodate the mood lighting and to give the room a more claustrophobic/cage-like feel. I've attempted to depict that empty space above relative to the dimensions of the birdseye view.

2) I'm not entirely sure there actually is a bit of a bump-out for the unseen room that makes up part of the main living space, but the apparent interior corner in the far right of this shot makes me think there might be:

3) There's fresh herbs growing in a planter by the fridge and I think we should all think about Vegas planting them and watering them and cooking with them:

4) There is one single shot of the bedroom where there might (a big might) be an armchair next to the bed at one point and I ran with it for personal headcanon reasons:

5) What is in this mystery room at the back of this shot?? There seems to be a welcome mat or something put down? Is that the true entryway?? A bathroom? A utility room? I don't know nearly enough about vernacular Thai architecture to make an accurate guess:

I've been thinking a lot about this.

About the transition from Pete's "I really went home" speech to Kim's shirt that simply says "human".

About the gut-wrenching feeling it gives me.

And I think I finally understand.

Because on one side, we have Pete, losing his humanity again and again, to the main family using him like a dog, to Vegas treating him like a pet. Who has to fight, fight, fight tooth and nail to reclaim it, to keep it. Bloody and beaten and ripped to shreds. For something that should be, no, that IS a birth right.

And on the other side, we have the Theerapanyakuls. Murdering and manipulating and exploiting, using people as they see fit, stripping them of their humanity while treating their own (sense of) humanity - their love, care, compassion - like, well, like a fashion item they can put on and take off anytime they like.

And if that contrast, transition, symbolism isn't brutality in its purest form then I really don't know what is.

So, quick question:

See, I'm asking because I don't know how Korn could come back after everything that's happened...

We saw in the meeting Kinn held with their 'business' associates that the news of Korn's death wasn't just kept within their family, to lure Gun to act. Everyone thinks Korn's dead and that Kinn now has full control of the main family.

In this same meeting, Kinn kills two of their associates, who questioned his authority:

Now that could have been part of Korn's plans, to let his ruthless son take care of disloyal allies - fun fact: this whole argument started over the main family not being fast enough to sign a Russian dealer, Mr. Vadim, who Kinn was supposed to meet in the last episode before Korn very kindly rescheduled it.

But, even still - how would it look for Korn if he came back to life after both this meeting and the coup? What would all of the other gangs think of Korn's deception leading to the deaths of three leaders (the two here, as well as Gun's)?

I think that would be a step too far away from the 'fair and reasonable’ image Korn projects of himself. It would cause too much unrest among the underworld, and threaten the very power he's spent so long cultivating.

No - I think Korn is stuck here. Whether he intended to or not, he's now locked himself permanently in his compound.

Like he did to Nampheung.

The way Vegas’ face fell immediately when Pete said he had nothing left in him anymore, not even his humanity. This is when he knew that he has gone too far.

But he still didn’t give in. Only when Pete said “I feel useless. I’ve always been useless. I never exist. I do not have feelings.”

Because he mirrors Vegas. Vegas also has always felt useless and like he never exists or that his feelings matter. He realises how Pete feels and why he feels so drawn to Pete. He immediately surrenders. Look how his face suddenly changes in shock (amazing acting by Bible) - he immediately disagrees with Pete. He calls his name to stop him from talking so lowly about himself. He knows what Pete is about to say. In this moment he truly understood Pete. And that scared him and made him realise that he does not want Pete to die. He has to be honest with his feelings or he will lose Pete.

I’m awarding 100 points to Porsche for (a) letting Pete lie to him and keep his privacy, and (b) allowing Pete and Vegas to meet even knowing that Vegas was the one who hurt Pete- which tells me that he could read both that Vegas is no longer a threat to Pete and that Pete doesn’t hate Vegas.

In other words, Porsche figured out that Pete is going through something like what he went through himself with Kinn in episode 5, and decided to wingman that situation. Which is incredibly fucked up of him and he deserves 100 points
