This Week in BL - It's weird where I am right now, Okay?
Organized, in each category, by ones I'm enjoying most at the top. However, I've put quite a few on hold for travel reasons.

Ongoing Series - Thai
My Dear Gangster Oppa (Thurs iQIYI) 1 of 8 - Classic unlucky in love failed crush on straight bestie = both v queer and v emo yaoi. I gotta say I like these actors way better in this than their previous series, and maybe that’s because Tew is more like Tul and I just like Meen better when he’s… erm… mean. All of which is to say, this is off to a wonderful start and I am about to lose my very sleep deprived little mind... ready for a ABL ecstasy rant?
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN.
"I play support because that way everyone is happy to see me show up," might be the single best moment of characterization BL has EVER seen.
Look here, in the grand cornucopia of BL universes this is my metaverse. It's pulp... but relatively high production. It has an established pair that I know I like... but who were given crap before. It's a tidy little script, it's not gonna run too long, and it's ALL the archetypes and tropes I love but rarely see. It's Japan's style otaku plus Korea's style gangster, Thailand's style friendship group, and it arrived out of NOWHERE. It's Korea's IP & money, Thailand's talent, and China's streaming service.
Do we know what the hell is going on?
No we do not.
Do we care when it's this much fun?
No we do not.

This show I why I got into BL.
Don't bother me with trifles. Me and My Dear Gangster Oppa are sailing off into the infinite pixilated sunset together, thank you very much.
Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 11 of 12 - I managed to watch most of it on low rez before YT "discovered" I was in Asia and therefore could not be allowed to watch Asian shows. (AKA my VPN failed me.) But it seemed like a good ep.
My Universe (Sun iQIYI) Lucky Love ep 10 of 24 - I enjoyed this 2 part installment, it’s a bit of a sad sack recovery SAGA, but the acting is genuine, the couple believable, and the story felt particularly queer to me. 7/10 but close to an 8. It was really quite charming.
However: Next week looks not good on many levels - it's horror and I spotted guitar. Which is even more horrific.
Absolute Zero (Thai Weds iQIYI) ep 5 of 12 - do temporal paradoxes exist in Thailand? That is the question. I gotta say Tor (Ongsa) is carrying this show and is doing a really great job, it's just the story itself doesn't resonate with me. Ugh it's so sad.
Is it, indeed, better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?
We only on ep 5 and had a full story arc already, there is A LOT more to go.
Venus in the Sky (Tues iQIYI) 9 of 10 eps - the fact that in losing Sky Venus also lost his surrogate family explains his resulting bitterness a little bit more. I wish we had gotten this back story much earlier. Still stupid pulp made me cry, which of course means it's back in my good books. This story is slow as fuck, but I'm going on a rollercoaster with it.
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Kiseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) ep 11 of 13(?) - I love them, okay? All of them. This is a great sappy classic Taiwanese BL and it is my baby and you can’t take it away from me. MINE.
You Are Mine (Taiwan Fri Viki) eps 8 of 10 - oh noes it got sad, I thought they would at least would have had drunken sex before the drama. Sigh. Still the kissing was good, as it should be from Taiwan.
If It’s With You AKA Even If I Fall In Love With You AKA Kimi to nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo’ (Japan Gaga) ep 4 of 5 - Amane is so brave. About being gay. Being out. Confessing. Its admirable if scary. Otherwise this ep was pretty slow.
Bump Up Business (Korea Gaga) 3-4 of 8 - how do I feel about this show? Conflicted. Are OnlyOneOf doing a great job? Yes, actually. Am I enjoying it? No, not really. Is this anyone's fault? I don't think so.
The little linguistic negotiation was cute tho. And we seem to have gotten idols kissing in a BL both in the same group, so that glass ceiling dildo has finally been broken.
NineMill are unexpectedly good, also KB plays a great evil ex. Of the 3, I think only Nine is good enough to go into acting permanently (but he's not tall enough). Still, all hail OnlyOneOf... kings of the "gay concept." You boys make me v nervous but as couple-branding goes, you just out branded Thailand. Mad props baibies. Legit never thought I'd see the day.
Trust Korea to be in it to win it.
Mr Cinderella 2 (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 6 of ? - i pretty much just forgot to watch this.
It's Airing But...
I Feel You Linger in the Air (Fri grey) ep 8 of 12 - I will try to watch and do a series review in November but... not sure I will be able to. Fingers crossed.
Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 8fin - completed but I couldn't catch the last ep, my final thoughts in Nov.
Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 12 fin - completed, but see afore mentioned YT issues. I'll review it in Nov. I anticipate better internet soon.
What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - I find this series more fun to binge, so I'm waiting until it completes its run.
I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan Tues Netflix-Japan & ????) - in classic JBL fashion, I Cannot Reach You could not be reached.
Can I Buy Your Love From A Vending Machine? AKA Sono Koi, Jihanki de Kaemasu ka? (Japan cinema release in-country only) - This one is a movie from Japan so in customary fashion who tf knows when (or if) it will get international distribution. Salaryman Ayumu Koiwai just can't tear his eyes away from the strong, muscular man as he checks on the stocks of the vending machine in his office.
One Room Angel (Japan Gaga) - adaptation of Harada’s manga of the same name (which I did not like) about a convenience store clerk who's stabbed, nearly dies, and returns home to find an angel waiting for him. With only 5 eps and a good chance this won’t end happy, I'm gonna wait and let you tell me how it goes.

10/31 SHADOW (Thai Gaga) 1 of 14 - this is a horror BL featuring ghosts and other paranormal elements in a high school setting. I'm not wild about Thai horror (or horror at all). It features Singto (who did paranormal BL He's Coming to Me) opposite Fluke N (who's done a couple horror's before). Also Fiat. Dan suffers from sleep paralysis, and in his dreams he sees a shadow that suffocates him. It gets worse when he transfers schools.

Cassandra is in the court of stars?!
When Adaine goes to the court of stars, I found something peculiar in Brennan’s description of the interior of the place. He mentions how in the center of the room, there’s a MASSIVE rose that is surrounded by shimmering, indigo-purple energy. Who in this entire franchise has been associated with those colors and Brennan ALWAYS described their magic/aura having that same vibe?
CASSANDRA!!!
WHAT IF the timeless rose in the court of stars is one of the few remaining items that has some of Cassandra’s essence?
But that’s not the end of it. The rose is described a huge rose, right? You could even say it’s GIANT sized. If my phrasing wasn’t obvious enough, I think the rose might’ve had a deeper meaning/connection for both Ankarna and Cassandra. I googled it, and it’s said that roses usually bloom around early spring and late autumn. This means that PEAK rose blooming season could possibly be summer. Ankarna’s domain.
So there’s a possibility (or better said a hunch) that a possible old gift amongst these two forgotten and corrupted deities is in Fallinel. But considering the fact that a monument about the wedding is in Fallinel, I wouldn’t be surprise if the flower in question is what remains of a bridal bouquet (roses are traditionally associated with love and are a popular bouquet options for weddings…👀). But we’ll see if anything will from this crazy observation of mine.

Who’s Fig’s REAL daddy, really?
I know this might seem like a bit, but I think it’s one worth thinking about. Usually Tieflings are just descendants of one mortal being and an infernal being. To my knowledge (and I encourage any DND buffs to fact check me on this), Tieflings can pop-up in a family tree as long as ONE of the bio parents has infernal blood or ancestry in them.
Now, why does this have to do with Fig’s bloodline? Gilear even stated in sophomore year that him and Sandra Lynn weren’t having bedroom fun before fig came along. Well I’ll bring you this question as a rebuttal: If Gilear was always aware to some degree about Fig not being his, how did Sandra Lynn get away with that lie for MANY years?
My theory is that Sandra Lynn originally didn’t know WHO fathered Fig since (and I’m just spit balling here) she probably had adult fun with Gilear shortly after Gortholax (probably due to guilt and making sure Gilear didn’t catch on to the cheating) and basically decided to wing it and after Fig started growing her horns didn’t hesitate to consider Gortholax the father. BUT WHAT ABOUT GILEAR’S DEMONIC BLOODLINE?! We recent learned Gilear is a descendant of Backur and we know that the curse attached to the Feith family is past on to the eldest of the family to the oldest of their children.
What if Gilear IS Fig’s bio dad AND that Fig being a Tiefling was because of Gilear being a descendant of Backur?!
Tbh this is a theory I’m only 65% sold on, since I’m not sure my DND knowledge is correct or if Brennan’s world even operates under those same rules. But it’s fun to think about.

Kipperlilly, the rat grinders, and Ankarna?!
I know that the season is leading up to a final confrontation between both of these adventuring parties, but here’s the fun question to ask:
WHY? Why the FUCK are these nerds SO determined to have the Bad Kids eat shit?
Very simple answer. Conquests. ✨ACADEMIC✨ Conquest. We know the rat grinders are basically exp farmers and (in many ways) are dark parallels to many of the Bad Kids own party members (Buddy and Kristen, Ruben and Fig, Oshin and Adaine, etc.). And we’ve seen how salty they are (Cunt-head Bitch face, especially) at how the Bad Kids (despite many of them not taking their academics seriously) are able to achieve things the Rat Grinders think THEY deserve. And who was recently revealed as a goddess of Conquest? Ankarna.
But HOW would the Rat Grinder’s know about Ankarna?! Well… remember Lucy?
Lucy’s death is very much hinted to be caused by the other members of her party (tho, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s revealed that it was someone else, most likely Kalina). But WHY did Lucy die?!
What if Lucy was trying to pull a similar stunt that Kristen pulled in sophomore year? After all we know Lucy wanted to switch gods and the name on the paper for that switch within the school was blank. Kinda like the god’s name wasn’t found or couldn’t be said…like Ankarna. I 1,000% believe that Lucy was trying to bring the uncorrupted version of Ankarna back (similar to how Kristen brought Cassandra back from her Nightmare King form). How she found out about Ankarna is a whole entire debate (maybe from her original goddess or through research, we’ll find out what more episodes released) but we are left with one MASSIVE question:
WHY DID THE RAT GRINDERS KILL LUCY?! What could they possibly gain from killing their friend?! Well…what if the rat grinders didn’t want Ankarna uncorrupted?
Afterall, Ankarna’s corrupted domain (that of conquest, rage, and dominating over others) fits better with Kipperlilly’s need to be the best at the school. I wouldn’t be surprised if the rat grinders’ end goal is to use Ankarna’s corrupted domain to help them (mostly Kipperlilly) win the elections.
After all, Cunt-head Bitch-Face did make it VERY clear from the beginning that her goal is to see the Bad Kids get what they deserve (which is expulsion) for their lack of academic integrity; and, for her party (the group that has been doing things by the book this entire time) to get what THEY deserve. Absolute power over the school.
Those are all my theories! PLEASE share your thoughts. And remember, it’s Just a theory… A DIMENSION 20 THEORY!!!

HELLO ANON. i do not know if you'll ever see this because it took me ten years, but here i am, answering you.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT THEM:
fun fact: simon infinity train is the reason i have a disclaimer about me getting attached to tragic antagonists in my pinned post. so you can probably make an educated guess what i like about him.
he's just. such a well written character. i love how his negative character development was contrasted against grace's positive character development. i love how the writers did a really good job of making him infuriating and sympathetic at the same time.
i'll go more into my thoughts on him in a later section, but yeah, the tl:dr is he really just is my character type hahaha.
he's just a really complex character and imo the writers nailed that.
LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT THEM:
okay well, this answer changes depending on if you mean from a writing perspective or a 'him as a person' perspective. from a writing perspective, 100/10, no notes. i can't think of anything i disliked.
from a PERSON perspective. episode 6 makes me want to murder this man <3 i want to put tape over his mouth every time he speaks in that episode. it's somehow WAY worse than when he's just straightup being an over-dramatic anime villain at the end of the season.
FAVORITE LINE:
oh there are many. i need to rewatch again. but the ones that live in my brain rent free are ALL after his downward spiral begins:
"teamwork begins with two people trusting eachother. but you? you're no person." dramatic effect. extremely traumatizing for everybody who's ever watched this show. 10/10
"i liked what we had, but you made me do it! you betrayed the apex. and you betrayed me." again, dramatic effect. really gives you a feel for what's going on in his head, i think. 10/10
"why would i ever want to change if i'm always right!?" iconic. i think this is the one people remember the most from him, along with the one from ep 5.
BROTP & OTP (combining because my answer is the same for both):
grace. lol. full stop. hopefully i don't have to explain that i am VERY AWARE that their relationship was unhealthy in many, MANY ways. that is what i like about it. i'm a huge fan of messy relationships in fiction. i am a self proclaimed angst fiend.
the tragedy of it all is 100% the appeal of it for me, from either a platonic OR romantic standpoint. i love that. and yes, i do ship them to an extent- but NOT in the "i think they should have gotten together in canon" way. again, the angst is the appeal!!
i admit i do also enjoy aus where they fix their relationship, but not INSTEAD of the canon, more so in ADDITION to the canon. i think it's a fun alternate route to explore, but i deeply adore what the infinity train writers did with them in the show and that will not be changing.
NOTP:
literally any of the protags from the previous seasons. y'all, simon and grace are 18. you can't be shipping them with the 13-14 year olds. please stop. (nobody here! i mostly see this on ao3, honestly.)
RANDOM HEADCANON:
i think simon has been back to the cat multiple times in secret.
i really like the theory that he got some of the apex's tech from her. the main thing i have to support this is this line from the episode where he returns to her cabin in book 3:
"i knew you'd have something. you always do."
particularly i think there's a good chance he got the unmodified gravity boots from her (and likely modified them himself) and possibly also the number tracker.
UNPOPULAR OPINION:
oh i'm sure a lot of what i've already said has been an unpopular opinion, haha. i'm one of those people that's so in the middle in a debate that both sides of it have reasons to disagree with me.
i really like simon. he and grace are my favorite characters in the show. there are parts where i feel really bad for him, and parts where i want to yell at him and hit him over the head with a very large stick.
i see his death as a tragedy in universe, but also a really good writing choice on the part of the infinity train crew.
i don't think they secretly had a scheme to make us dislike him. i think it was written in such a way that it makes sense that some people would have a viscerally negative reaction to him, and others wouldn't. he's a very complex character and that's good writing!!!
i think the tragedy was the point, which is something both people who like him and people who hate him seem to completely overlook in a lot of cases. it's either "woohoo! simon died!" or "killing simon was bad writing he should have been redeemed >:/" not "oh this is really sad but i love it from a story perspective."
i don't think he was "irredeemable", per-say. the fact is, he was faced with a pivotal choice in episode five, and he picked the wrong one. he chose to double-down. i love that. i really do. i love the downward spiral. it's painful in the best way. i would not change the canon show for the world. again, 100/10, no notes.
but i can also see a universe where he made the right choice. i was writing a fic about that, once. (which admittedly has some characterization issues which i would fix if i tried it again.) i think it was possible. and i think that's a fun route to explore too. not a better route from a writing standpoint, but a good one.
i have so many more thoughts but this has already gotten really long, and i have two more questions to go, lol. but if you want to hear anymore you're free to send me another ask about it!
but, for now, moving on.

I don't understand that at all. I understand it's your opinion, but it doesn't line up with the facts of the show, or with my own personal experiences with being bullied for a solid 13 years of my life, or with the definition of bullying for that matter. Here's the (Australian) National Center Against Bullying's definition of bullying:
Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening.
Emphasis is mine, because at the end of the day the power part of it the the crux of what differentiates between being a bully and being an asshole. Taking a glance, the majority of the definitions of bullying (especially when the group defining it is an anti-bullying organization) specify a power imbalance. Between Stede and Izzy, who actually has the power? Stede is a captain and good friends with Izzy's captain, Izzy is only a first mate and has zero positive social connections with anyone on The Revenge. Even Ivan and Fang, who seem at first to respect Izzy's authority, turn out to not respect Izzy's authority at all.
Stede was scared and uncomfortable with the Badmintons. As a child when being bullied he ran away from the Badmintons and their creatively cruel tortures for Stede. In their childhood, Stede's bullies had power over him in numbers and social standing among their peers. As adults the Badmintons still have power over Stede as members of the navy. And even though he treated Stede so cruelly, Nigel's words contradict the situation, playing off the relationship between them as though they were really just friends and always had been friends and the bullying was just fun playing among friends.
Stede was also bullied by Calico Jack, who made Stede uncomfortable and purposefully called Stede by the wrong name (this will be relevant shortly,) doing so as a guest on Stede's ship and as a mutual friend of Ed and as a badass pirate the rest of the crew thinks is super cool, so Stede didn't have the power to do anything about Jack's bullying without coming off as, to quote Lucius, "bitchy." So Stede just had to stand there and take Jack's insults without being able to retaliate. Like Nigel, Jack bullied Stede under the false pretense of being friendly with him.
But with Stede and Izzy, Stede is, for Stede, unusually confident and aggressive. They meet on equal ground as equals in their field (at least at that moment as they are both men in charge of two other men.) They have a fight and Stede wins by jabbing a knife in Izzy's face, making Izzy submit to Stede's demands. Stede leaves that interaction feeling very confident, having had fun ("This isn't over Mr. Bonnet." "Good, cause I kind of enjoyed it.")
When Stede and Izzy meet again at Jackie's bar, it is no longer as equals. Stede is there as a captain, Izzy is there as a first mate acting on the orders of his captain. Izzy does not how power over Stede like a bully would have power over their victim. Stede takes that moment to be petty and calls Izzy "Iggy" (hm, that seems familiar,) announces upon Izzy's correcting that he doesn't care what Izzy's real name is, and later calls Izzy a flunky. In the next episode Stede announces to Ed this guys "a complete ASSHOLE." He even says that shitty little "looks like there's trouble in paradise," about Izzy a few eps later.
At this point I do have to note that the way Stede talks to Izzy very much reminds me of how I was talked to by my bullies when I was a kid, with extreme disrespect for who I was (people purposely got my name wrong a lot,) and a lot of insults. He's being a dick to Izzy, and only to Izzy, similar to how bullies will single someone out and treat them differently from everyone else, like how Stede was singled out and treated different from his peers when he was bullied. That being said, I don't think Stede is being a bully*, I just think he's the most comparable to one of the two characters.
*Stede is not seeking out to harass or demean Izzy. After the skirmish on the island, we literally never see Stede coming to or talking to Izzy oh his own accord, it is always Izzy initiating their interactions. It's just that Stede is being an asshole during those interactions and also happens to be the one in power, but we never see Stede use the power he has over Izzy.
The way Izzy acts is rude and aggressive and not an appropriate way to treat someone, but it's just not bullying*. The way Izzy treats Stede doesn't impact Stede like being bullied as a child or by Nigel or by Jack did. Other than when Izzy cut up Stede's shirt and during the duel, Stede was never scared of Izzy. Izzy doesn't intimidate him, Izzy doesn't have any power over him. All Izzy can really do while on The Revenge is say some harsh but ineffective insults like "little shit" and wait patiently until Ed decides to kill Stede. Izzy is not coming up with creative ways to make Stede miserable like Stede's bullies did. Izzy's not making any illusions about his contempt for Stede, whereas Nigel and Jack hid their contempt through passive aggressions and facetious friendliness.
*Izzy does make an attempt of using power over Lucius to make Lucius do his job (which might have been a bullying attempt I'm not actually sure if Izzy's goal was to demean or a genuine effort to get him to work) but Lucius establishes that he's the one with power over Izzy, not the other way around. When Izzy is momentarily captain of the Revenge and does have power we don't see him unfairly single anyone out, only punish Wee John in retaliation to Wee John laughing at him. And then the crew mutinies because Izzy's authority only went as far as people respected it, and nobody respects Izzy.
Stede and Izzy have a mutual contempt for each other, it's not bullying from either side, even with the power imbalance in Stede's favor. I just don't understand how you could watch the account of Stede's bullying and then watch the way Izzy and Stede interact and then think those two things are in any way related at all.

Also, fun fact about why it would be cool a Gala ball EP: many years ago, there was a event where (i believe) all the artists could draw their ocs going to a gala ball, and Jencil was among them. It would be a time travel to that time but this time Dr. Phantasmo would be in there! (By the way, Jencil, if you’re reading this, know all of this is just a suggestion/ideas for your webcomic, so, no pressure! :D) + bonus points if Charlie and Phantasmo dance together without knowing who’s dancing with who (like, a masquerade) or they know who they are dancing with and start a “hate tango” or something like that.

Considering that Pete's scars at the beginning of ep 13 are more healed and he is not wearing bandages we can assume it was after another sex scene that we actually didn't see. So I am curious how Vegas initiated it. Did he snuggle in Pete's bed and started touching him, did he try to flirt with him first, was it while they were just talking about something and Vegas started kissing Pete? Was Pete willing to give into it like the first time with all the passion? Was it Pete who started it? :)

Okay so, a few things change between the sex scene in ep 12 and the opening of ep 13, namely that Pete's bandages are off, he's in handcuffs again and they're both partially clothed.
I'm actually torn on how much time as passed, from the glimpses we get of Pete's wounds in ep 12 they seem to be fairly healed, just still bandaged, so I think this scene could come about pretty soon after the events of ep 12. And in fact I think it has to be fairly soon because of the change we see in Pete's demeanor.
That's a big change from happily handing over the ropes to get fucked by the villain Pete to reality crashing down on him Pete. That's why I think there isn't a huge timeskip, because everything we see of Pete in ep 13 is him still processing episode 12. And I think maybe the thing that pushed him into that spiral of realisation is Vegas handcuffing him again.
Anyway none of this is what you asked SO. I think after the first time and Vegas's palpable italicised oh moment he does a little bit of what could generously be called aftercare. At least, untying Pete and cleaning them both off (removing the bandages in the process). I don't know how much they talk (beyond whatever they're whispering to each other that we don't get to hear BOC REALEASE THE TAPES) and they're both so blissed out still it doesn't matter, just revelling in being able to touch each other, at being together, however monumentally unlikely that must seem.
And maybe those quiet touches turn into something more, something a little more deliberate. Maybe Vegas catches Pete's eye and smirks as if to say "it's no fun if you don't give in" so Pete takes the initiative and runs his hands down Vegas's chest the way he wanted to before but couldn't because his hands were tied, and he's the one to pull Vegas in for another kiss.
(Maybe Pete is starting to feel reality creep back in and settle uneasily in his stomach, maybe Vegas's hands taking his wrists and pinning them to the bed, biting into his lip, sucking bruises into his neck empties his mind so he can have a little longer, just a little longer of living in the moment and letting himself want without holding back)
And I think this time is slower, a little more exploratory, more indulgent. Pete isn't tied up now so he lets his eyes and hands and mouth wander as he pleases, delighting in the fact that he can provoke Vegas's reactions with this, too, as well as with his words. Vegas can test the waters a little bit more, drinking in Pete's reactions to fingers in his mouth or teeth over his tattoo or a hand wrapped around his neck. Learning each other a little deeper and taking their time with it.
Pete can sink down into pure sensation, living for the present like he wants to be able to always do, not having to reckon with his own feelings. Vegas (as we see in the ep 13 scene) is still absolutely wrapped up in the euphoria of having found someone like Pete who seemingly complements him so well.
But once again when it's done and they've put some clothes back on, Vegas makes the decision to put the handcuffs back on. Like we see in ep 13, Vegas still thinks he and Pete are playing the same game, not seeing the fact that it's destroying Pete. And I think the click of those handcuffs was like a bucket of cold water for Pete, a jarring reminder that what they just did was... inadvisable (completely insane) and he is still trapped in a situation where he is being actively dehumanised, now with the added complication of sex, sex that he really really enjoyed.
And that is the mental state that Pete goes into episode 13 with.

Why Eiji x Ash is an awful pairing
Last year I watched Banana Fish for the first time, and I loved and hated it. I deeply appreciated how blunt and raw it could be when trating the abuse/rape themes, and got me a heartache and dehydratation for how much it made me cry.
However, I recently rewatched it with a friend of mine and we were apalled at so many things I don't even know where to start. I still like the story itself, but I reevaluated some characters entirely, especially Max and Eiji.
Max, for instance, proclames himself as Ash's protector/dad, but when they were in prison he didn't do anything for him, and left Ash alone to be raped multiple times. He also joked and found it funny when Ash was harassed in his nurse uniform, and in general treated him like he hadn't been abused since he was a child.
But this post won't be about Max.
It's Eiji and his relationship with Ash I want to talk about, and honestly I don't understand what the author was trying to do with them and how can people ship the two of them.
Let's start by saying that everything that happens in the series is Eiji's fault, including Ash's death. Since the beginning he egoistically did everything he could do to put Ash in danger, refusing to follow his orders or to leave the fucking country and stay safe because he wanted to "help him", "save him", or just couldn't handle the idea of leaving him. Spoiler alert: if you claim to care about someone, you don't put them in a situation when they have to save your ass every time. Hell, Ash let himself be abused again and again in prison, by Golzine and many other disgusting men all series long just to be sure Eiji would be safe. Ash cared about him, not viceversa.
In ep.11 Eiji wakes Ash up by literally hitting him in the head (WTF?!), and then proceeds to joke about Ash's pubes and hints about having Ash showing him his dick. What the actual fuck?! And he already knew about the abuse Ash went through. Afterwards, he has the brilliant idea to organize a party for him with Jack O' Lanterns despite Ash telling him he's scared by them and why. During the party Ash was clearly in discomfort but who cares, it was fun, right? 😃
In ep.12 he guilt trips Ash for killing Shorter and being a murderer when he knows what kind of life Ash lives and why he does what he does. He knows Ash hates killing and hates being so good at it. He knows Ash and Shorter were best friends, so obviously he blames Ash for his friend's death, the most compassionate thing he could do.
In ep.13 Ash pleads for Eiji to go back to Japan, clearly saying that it's dangerous for him to stay there, but Eiji ignores Ash's needs and will and of course triggers another series of problems. Cherry on top, he says to himself he heard Ash's cries at night and how bad they were, but ignored him altogether. What kind of asshole does that?!
In ep.18, after Ash fought for their lives and escaped Golzine's villa, he accuses Ash to be a weak girl because he's tired and bedridden. Excuse you??? But that's not everything, because he also invites Ash to Japan saying he won't have to fight or have a weapon there, but he could work as a model instead. Tell me you didn't understand shit about Ash without telling me you didn't understand shit about Ash. He. Was. Fucking. Abused! He knew about the videos and the photos and how much Ash hates being photographed (he says so in fucking episode 1!), and he still has the nerve to propose such a job for him just because he's attractive. Sure. Let's sexualise him, nobody did that before. 'Cause his looks are the only thing that counts, not the fact that Ash's smart and kind.
In ep.20 he almost touches Ash's butt. Yeah, go ahead, that's totally fine.
In ep.22, after Ash managed to escape from Fox, injured and once again raped, he doesn't even ask him how is he or offers him his jacket, just leaves him there.
These are the most evident flaws to his character and, consequently, to his relationship with Ash that I noticed. It's not healthy for the both of them, but for Ash especially. The only reasons Ash grew fond of him it's because of his fucked up life and because he sees Eiji as the epitome of innocence, something he needs to protect to save himself too.

1) Are you named after anyone? Hm I mean, technically ‘Taka’ is a nickname that the fabulous @archervale gave me, and it’s a reference to Hawkeye from the Avengers. So....yes? Irl name wise, I believe my name is both biblical and runs in my family, which is why my parents picked it.
2) When was the last time you cried? Honestly not completely sure lol. Hmm I definitely cried watching the end of episode 8 of The Last of Us, so maybe then? That feels like it was a while ago though, so maybe some other time in between then. I don’t remember though rip
3) Do you have kids? Biological kids? No. Original characters? Yes. They are my kids
4) Do you use sarcasm a lot? I try to, and sometimes I nail it, sometimes I don’t hahah
5) What sports do you play/have played? I mean, I don’t intentionally do any sports, other than what I was made to do at school, but I do run around frequently out of choice, mostly during my job haha. And I used to do cycling. I also do a reasonable amount of walking, actually!

I also do this ‘teleporting’ thing where I move quickly or people don’t notice me take a more efficient route (usually, this happens at work) and I seem to suddenly ‘appear’ in places. I often use this for evil to unnerve visitors on tours by going from the back to the front without anyone seeing me move, and it brings me great joy
10) Where were you born? In a hospital. Fun fact, when I was born, the nurses didn’t write down the time of birth, and my mum was just like ‘at some point in the morning’ so like. I don’t actually know what time I was born haha. I guess you could say I’m....I’m a....timeless ch- *gets shot*
11) What are your hobbies? I draw, I write, I play percussion in an orchestra (currently learning glock and xylo which are haaaard), I sing in my church choir and I also like writing music! henry/eileen (silent hill 4): yeah i know! throwback if you've been with me since high school. idk i've been thinking about them a lot lately, now with a fully formed adult lens. i think i really like that under any other circumstances they would've never have become an item. it's sad in its way too, how bitterly their lives changed and how deeply bonded they are because of it that being with anyone else feels impossible. but it's not like they hate each other. they've just been thru so much and they're the only other person who understands.

Initial Impression: kBL same production as Blueming (KENAZ) and it has reincarnation and curses or something? I saw a few clips on twitter about the first ep and it seems hilarious, hope it’s great bc it’s one of the few kBLs I’m acc looking forward to because of the plot and not just for Korean practice. || After ending, people have been criticizing the ending and also for its messy plot in such a short time but I’m still curious about it so I’ll give it a try (esp cuz so many of the kBLs lately have apparently been meh that I needa add this to the watchlist or else I’ll hardly get any practice done)
Overall Impression: I feel like this should be higher just because it’s got a cool concept and the cinematography’s good but I felt like maybe 1 emotion during this whole show (the hug in the car), which sucks. The writing in the show sucked, both in terms of relationship development (there was none. why were they from A to Z without B C...) and the fantasy/lore aspects. In a better show, Dongbaek’s dying wish to be the one who remembers next time coming true would be a punch to the gut but here, I don’t gaf

Overall Impression: sad that I've watched worse kBLs but since I had some expectations while going into this, it's more disappointing. I don’t really care for boss/employee romances in general and i think the fact that it’s positioned as wholesome/cute here so far isn’t working for me. if you’re gonna have the boss kiss the intern out of the blue while said intern is drunk, it needs to be framed in more of a rancid way for it to still be fun; dabble more with the weird power dynamics & lean into the bad vibes lol

Initial Impression: initially wasn’t interested in this one because everybody kept calling it a boring regular high school romance, watched the mock trailer around August 2022 and was like omg the trope of making the person you like run errands for you? (ex. True Beauty, We Best Love) + I tend to enjoy simply school shows. Then the actual show came out and everyone’s loving it 3 eps in, so that’s fun for sure.
Overall Impression: I really liked it, especially for what it was: a cute, endearing high school BL with really endearing leads and good acting and sometimes turning tropes on their head. I didn't love it or obsess over it the way some people seemed to but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I also loved so many of their faces lol Fourth and Prom my favourite beautiful faces but Gemini and Satang are beautiful too, not to mention Gun's mother whew! This made me giddy and the OSTs are great and there's clear effort from the cast and crew. I liked the dynamic between the characters, whether it be how Gun and Tinn took turns being bold and shy or the parent-child relationships or Chinzhilla band.

Initial Impression: there’s a lesbian character. she says the line “trust me. i’m a lesbian.” more than enough reason to watch it. That was my reason for wanting to watch it soon after discovering the OG trailer but recently, I’m excited to see Fah, the show has glowing reviews from the people watching it, and I’m very interested in the sex-related conversations they’re having
Overall Impression: A unique and enjoyable show, it was so fun to see all these characters in their specific situations and how they deal with them. The characters were all compelling, it's wild how I was into all their storylines. how charming each character/their story was, and how the story juggled them. It also made me see a bunch of actors in new lights, New most of all, as they acted in a role outside of their usual wheelhouse. I think the most frustrating part for me was how it seemed like although they were getting at it, they never quite acknowledged that what Alex did to Jean that night was rape. It made me quite angry actually, especially how Alex's actions didn't feel like it actually took Jean's feelings and trauma and requests into account. I was at least glad that in that timeline, Jean doesn't get back with Alex.
It’s in this section of the post because despite Alex being het, this show is just... queer.

Initial Impression: I’m really looking forward to this. why? i don’t know. i guess i developed some sort of attachment to morkpi in FUTS even though I was mostly ambivalent about their relationship? also, i’m curious to watch something directed by p’jojo
Overall Impression: I actually don't care about the plot of this show that much because I was mostly there for the characters and character relationships but it didn't give me what I wanted. I don't like Ben/Chopper and Nueng/Palm felt meh toward the end and also didn't give me what I wanted really. My big problem with this show which is that nothing feels like it gets enough emotion or gravity and instead it's either fixed quickly or we move on quickly. Anyway, idk. I liked the first 2/3 of the series even though it wasn't A Fave but it had some great moments and lots of potentials to me, so that’s why it’s +.5 more than 6. I stopped caring about the characters while watching these last 4 and these last 2 episodes were just so... agh. I just care about Chopper atp and want better for him. This was one of my most anticipated shows of 2022 (which is why I started watching it weekly), so it's sad that it turned out this way.

Initial Impression: My beloveds! Hope it’s enough to tide me over until the movie is accessible.
Overall Impression: This season is about Hira and Kiyoi's relationship. They didn't become boring after getting together, they didn't magically end up being a perfect happy well-adjusted couple after getting together, nor were there random issues thrown just because; the struggles and hurdles are true to their characters and dynamics. I liked the themes and dynamics it explored and their character + relationship development and progression. I also smiled a lot and lost my mind a little at certain moments. Strong writing, strong characters, strong acting, what a relief.

Initial Impression: Moonlight Chicken: I don't like reading or watching stories about cheating but this one looks so good :0 Also, suchhh a good cast like EarthMix, FourthGemini couples and also Khao and First like I’m expecting great acting and storytelling
Overall Impression: It's a good one! High quality with good acting and interesting storylines that are unique in BL. It didn't hit me as hard as it seemed to hit some other people though and I'm not thinking about it much at all since finishing. I think Jim/Wen's relationship was one of the weakest aspects of the show to me because I didn't care nor did I really feel anything and it might’ve been more interesting if it actually involved cheating. I loved Heart and Li Ming, I enjoyed getting to see Jim grow and also how his relationship with Li Ming changed, I liked getting to see Wen and Alan's flashbacks and to present tense relationship, I like Gaipa showing up once in a while to be bright, I thought Gaipa and Leng's interactions were funny, I loved Li Ming as a character so much, I wished to be him so badly.

Initial Impression: Watched the leaked trailer from February and it seems actually angsty and enemies to lovers and I’m very curious about that
Overall Impression: I really liked the first 5 episodes when there was so much contempt but Taehyun couldn't stop himself from terrorizing or goading Da Yeol and Da Yeol couldn't stop noticing how beautiful Taehyun was, and then the friendship that bloomed in that but still with an edge. I didn't quite get the reason for separation in episode 6 and think the last episode was cutesy but out-of-character sort of. Still, overall a pretty good one; reminds me of a mix of Blueming and Utsukushii Kare. I was giddy so many times while watching this, especially the first half and was clutching my head and curling my toes despite it not being romantic, just full of tension.

Initial Impression: People seem to have really liked this, on both MDL and Reddit both, so I’m looking forward to it
Overall Impression: The pacing of this was so good, they managed to give everything needed and timed it well within 2 hours. Well written, well acted, well planned, well shot, nice. I liked and understood the main characters and even the side characters had distinct personalities despite not being fully fledged. I loved how Gi Tae and Wan were so playful with each other, whether it be with the teasing they did and playing hard to get but also the easy affection they often had whether it be kisses, pecks, tickles, hugs, hand holding, just regular romantic touching - a good balance between being strangely chaste and very raunchy. Was cute and I’m glad this is the show that I watched after not watching anything for a while but I won't think about them again, probably.

Initial Impression: Need this so bad, the photos from the shooting are killing me
Overall Impression: Great, fun, though not as emotionally invested as Season 2 because they're in a better place in their relationship in this movie (even if it's not necessarily Perfect). It was interesting to have new people in their lives like Anna and Noguchi and how their stories influenced them. I'm happy with where we're leaving off the characters after ~6h of show/movie but lowest rating so far because it felt like we spent too much time on stuff like Anna’s story or the random kidnapping.

Overall Impression: Not very good, it's kinda non-sensical and has terrible subs and I watched it all on 1.25x speed. However, I was deeply craving a typical university Thai BL and it gave me that with engineer students and enemies to lovers. Sonkhgram and Ai were pretty cute and their pretend enemies while both likes the other for years was endearing ig? The freshmen Pluster and Nano were also really good toward the middle-end, the little gossips and schemers. Meen and Bright were meh, it could've been more compelling. All in all, a mediocre show to watch if wanting something really tropey that requires 0 thought.

Initial Impression: long episodes and everybody’s been loving it and feeling every emotion under the sun for it
Overall Impression: It was interesting and I think the show had a good grasp on characters and relationship dynamics and progression. I liked that there were friendships each character had and that they existed outside of just this relationship; even some of the friends existed outside of just being a friend, like Yonnwon was a whole human. The female friends were great, Yoonwon is a treasure and I liked how Aeri was so sweet but so mean sometimes, a very clever city girl type. Also, the tension and cute moments between Jihyun and Jaewon (esp in ep 6 and 10) were great. I think it's a good show that's done well but right now, it's not taking up much brain space and it also didn't make me viscerally feel anything.

Overall Impression: Ah, the dynamic is so delicious. Older, colder, richer, more jaded Seoul city man and younger, cheery, puppy-like new adult. Also, ummm I liked how much Yul scolded Yechan, ah + that one time Yechan apologized by kneeling. Yechan is cute, esp his antics after the sexy dream he had about Yul, but I do think he's a bit too childish sometimes, so that's meh. Overall enjoyable but I didn't super connect with the story or the characters and likely won't be thinking about them again.

Overall Impression: It was... fine I guess, the plagiarism subplot had me invested because it was so frustrating (as it was meant to be) but I really didn’t care about the main couple. Their relationship and interactions did nothing for me. Also I’m shallow so either they needed to have more chemistry or needed to be more attractive to my tastes for me to enjoy watching it rip. I literally skimmed so much of Ep 4 - 7, especially skipped over the main couple interactions and watched to see the plagiarism issue get resolved.

Initial Impression: listen i know people are like krist homophobe which fair enough ig but i’m still curious from the trailer and i’ll probably give it a try || Once it’s started being released, people seem to be enjoying these beginning episodes, so I hope it’s really good all the way through.
Overall Impression: It is such a tragedy that despite looking forward to this show for so long and enjoying some aspects and moments, ultimately, it fell flat for me. I feel like a lot of this show was objectively done well like the character arcs and acting and stuff but I'm not attached to any of it. The romance didn't make me feel giddy even though I really wish it had like it's strange that I didn't care at all about all those cute moments Kawi and Pisaeng had or the established relationship montages when usually they're some of my favourite aspects of a BL. agh whatever ig at least the show didn't treat Pear terribly.

Overall Impression: Well, this is really as close as BL you can get without saying out loud that they are dating but there are innuendos galore and it's pretty clear (there was lube on their bed, like...). The family aspect was the best, I love that we got to see Su Yu's situation so much and his blended family and the way they were always there together. You can understand why Wu Bi prefers the warmth of their home over the coldness of his, though we got to see progress on that end too. Duoduo sooo cute, little munchkin. The ending is... an ending, that's for sure. Hope we get a season 2 next year but who knows.

Overall Impression: First movie of the year! Very, very funny and wacky, thoroughly enjoyed it. Hazel is sooo attractive lol, as is Isabel. Loved Josie being a sweetheart and reluctant to go along with antics except then going in wayyy too hard with the juvie stories lol. PJ was insufferable but like in a good way? like yesss, high school girl who says things before thinking and is an asshole! Also lesbian movies where they kill men is always fun, this time it being an actual funny comedic part. The whole movie was ridiculous and I'm glad.

Initial Impression: JamFilm new BL! Seems like it’ll have some sort of lawyer or justice type storyline, which is interesting. I’m really looking forward to it
Overall Impression: I really liked To Sir, With Love which was a lakorn and so was different than every other BL I've watched and was hoping I'd similarly love this one, which is also bringing something unique to the BL table. It started off really well for me, I thought Charn was such a fun (morally corrupt) character and was intrigued about what was going on. I liked the lesbians Maya and Rose as well ofc. However, I think toward ep 7 and 8, it kinda became very meh for me (that warehouse live stream scene not counting) because the mystery was too predictable/boring and thus had no tension, people kept making incredibly stupid decisions, and I wasn't attached to the characters enough to care/be emotional about all the wedding stuff. Nawin was a great addition in ep 7 though, so unexpected and fun. Unfortunate that the meh impression ended up being the last ones since that sticks with me more than liking it in the earlier eps.

Overall Impression: Started watching because the guy1 likes girl likes guy2 likes guy1 tiktok was funny but not high hopes for the actual show. Skimmed through this so hard, honestly shouldn't have even watched it because it didn't seem too good from my skimming. Overall Impression: The concept is so delicious (messy dubcon d/s overtones and stilted emotions) and the execution is mostly good but I wish it was more fleshed out (never really saw a proper resolution to Yoh being mad that Mizuki doesn't take his manga job seriously and idk if they actually fully worked out their problems in the last ep lol). It was a very fun and exciting watch.

Initial Impression: Insanity based on the mock trailer.
Overall: I'm just glad that I binged this by watching 2-3 eps a day for a week instead of watching for 3 months to arrive at that ending. Great first half of the show IMO (~6 eps), then there's a weird narrative shift there somewhere, then the last 1/4 of the show was dragging and then the last episode was boring and upsetting. SandRay and TopMew feel weirdly happy, artificially happy while Boston is the only character who is left to rot by his friends and Nick. I didn't need a happy ending for Boston/Nick but Boston's storyline felt... cruel and since the only character who wasn't monogamous got a bad ending and had all his faults amplified (while the others just had their faults or mistakes forgiven or never even apologized for them), it felt pointed at Boston's promiscuity.

Initial Impression: I've seen it mentioned sooo many times that I thought I'd give it a try.
Overall: The thing with these crime/mafia BLs is that often they literally have no plot and this show doesn't even bother establishing anything, what even is going on? something with Zhang Teng... but the gangs and the families and the crimes are all so vague and out of sight, it's mostly just about the relationships against the backdrop. However, I really enjoyed the characters and the couples, specifically Zongyi/Ruei in the first half and Ai Di/Chen Yi in the second half. The couples also have some fun tropes that I like (age gap with the younger guy being overly eager, the ChenAi dynamic esp the part where they both manhandle each other so much) and Ai Di is a menace, which is always enjoyable. Is it enough for me to overlook how the show introduces a criminal and crime-life element but does not explain or expand on it? I don't necessarily think so, and thus the meh rating, but honestly, if I'm plagued by the couples or feel the need to rewatch certain parts, I'll increase the rating.

Overall Impression: The concept is somewhat similar to Our Dating Sim, having a friendship/situationship in middle school, one character disappearing, but then meeting again a few years later. Nothing about this was egregious of anything but it just felt like Dongwook had treated Dohyun terribly and was also being way too presumptuous in the current timeline, so it didn't fully work for me. I just wanted Dohyun to beat Dongwook up lol

Initial Impression: I’ve been anticipating this since early 2022, especially because I like both Jan and Off individually as actors. Now to see them as a pair! And it seems like a cool concept from the mock trailer. Thank goodness it’s being released on Youtube at the same time as Disney+Hotstar.
Overall Impression: The acting was great, the script was comprehensible and well-paced, the production is good, featured sex work without villainizing the workers or the work itself. I loved Mote’s little fantasies of possible scenarios or of imagining an interaction in a different way (the card game with June, convo with dead Pat). I’m impressed by the creative team behind it. I won’t think about this much after today I don’t think but I liked this little show.

Initial Impression: I’ve started getting into thriller/horror kdramas, think I’m gonna start watching Fantasy ones as well and starting with this because of Cha Eunwoo my beloved. || It’s finished and I know a biiig S2 ending spoiler and the reviews are meh but people loved CEW here, so I’ll watch it still probably
Overall Impression: The main female lead was whatever, wish she was just good at something. Whether it be fighting demons, fighting back via kindness and empathy, or actual power due to her status/wealth/connections. She's not the worst ever because she can still stand up for herself and she has personality but I mourn that they've written her like this. Van is just fucking boring and I don't care. My beloved Johan <3333 I liked his charming, cocky, beautiful character who was so intrigued by everything going on as if he really was 20 and curious about everything but also I liked his apprehension when it came down to it. The storyline with his brother was so T.T Also curious to see the evil brother half-demon Guntan and his sidekick niece Yeom-ji. They're both pretty cool compared to our 2 main characters. I wish the show flowed better in terms of the sequence of scenes and pacing and the main characters were more intriguing.

Maybe because of less focus on Johan (I wanna know his backstoryyyyyy) and also just incomprehensible writing/plot direction. Yeomji and Johan my beloveds + Guntan being cool were the highlights. Hated the dumbass cliffhanger ending. such a forgettable show.

Initial Impression: seems hilarious and people seemed to like it.
Overall Impression: Personally worth watching just to see the plethora of the gendered terms used with Night in drag/pretending to be kathoey (esp with Momey). Also liked the ending with “but who’s gonna direct?” [look into the camera] [screen with Directed by Jojo’s name] This was really fun and kept my attention well. I’ve seen people say that the humour didn’t work for them but it did for me. Also fun to see actors like Nanon, Film, Pond in these roles.

Initial Impression: not super sure on the concept because I didn’t watch the mock trailer but cool actors, cool vibes; hope it has strong script and production. || 2 eps are out and people have been really enjoying it, so I’m even more curious.
Overall Impression: I liked the first half with the artifacts and side stories more than the second half where they tried to do too much for a short runtime, not too much budget, and mediocre writing skills. I couldn't make myself care about Khatha or Dome and also it was funny how they kept emphasizing phi-nong with words but so romantic in action. I wish the fantasy and magic and parallel universes and time travel and cult and God and whatever else made more sense together.

Overall Impression: Lee Dohyun <3 My reason for watching but the show is bigger than just him. It was so addictive and entertaining, watched the whole show in like 2 days and 2 hours. Impressed by the acting of Lee Dohyun and the mother and Mijoo's actors. The show was mostly about the mother and son relationship, with the revenge plot + the Mijoo/Kangho romance arcs in the background. I deeply wish that Kangho hadn't apparently forever loved and understood his mother and did everything for her and sang her favourite song while studying for the Bar or whatever. He went low-contact with her in Seoul even before he discovered the stuff that made him break up with Mijoo, so I think the reasons behind that and the hurt and betrayal that caused him to take such an action should have been focused on more. We got fleeting moments of him being angry or her saying she's bad but it was all explained away or he understood or whatever. Anyway, idk, I think if that relationship was more clear + the ending of the revenge arc was more solid, I would've rated it higher because I did enjoy this but some things bothered me significantly.

Overall Impression: Good enough, especially the heart of episode 6 but not something I'll be thinking about at all. The characters didn't resonate a whole lot, this focused a lot on just fighting scenes (more than like strategizing, being clever, etc, which is usually what I'm a fan of), the defeat of the villains wasn't really satisfying at all - especially with how cruel episode 6 went down. Also, I don’t ship Geonwoo and Woojin, sadly.

Initial Impression: Saw this Tiktok edit while going through an account for TeeWhite (DFF) edits and the most popular Tiktok of this show made me wanna watch + this one like omg idk why I’m so excited to see him get jealous/grovel I don’t know this man. It also has a really high rating like 9/10 on MDL. Okay wait I saw this (pretend crush) on a reel before, I didn’t know this was from the same drama, no wonder the name seemed familiar.
Overall Impression: This was so cute, I liked the characters and their characterizations, the friend group, and their romance. I liked how they were mutually helping each other achieve their goals and paths in life. It was just cute. They had a 1 year long-distance thing in the middle where they were obviously sad but they got through it. I like that they trusted each other and liked each other and were nice to each other. Love that so much of this was them while in a relationship! Their high school undefined situation, then relationship while in uni and jobs and getting married. I love an established relationship situation and this delivered. They got through situations together, no unnecessary breakup or miscommunication. It's just good and cute and endearing.

Initial Impression: school themed horror? Could be cool and interesting if they have a good script and good production and one of the only non-queer GMMTV 2023 shows I’m looking forward to
Overall Impression: I wish the wrap-up/ending was done better/explained a bit more like what was that Ajin possession thing? No Ajin past? Why did we redeem mother so easily? Who was the blurry girl in ep 1 (maybe Yiwha?)? I wish the horror aspect continued on cuz I think it was strongest in the first episode but not much after that. It's had me hetshipping and lesbian shipping (Fa/Namsine were literally soooo) and that's a good mark. Good after credits scene to pique interest for a larger story, hope we get a good follow up next year.

Initial Impression: same reason as My Perfect Stranger (Saw this Tiktok (Twinkling Watermelon x My Perfect Stranger) and ended up watching a few more and idk, it reminds me of 18 Again somehow with like younger version and family stuff), it's also in the same tiktok, and it seemed to be very popular among the kdramas this year
Overall Impression: I'm fucking obsessed with this sort of concept: Parent and child being the same teenage age through some magical concept. It's got a good storyline, hilarious yet touching. I was afraid that they'd make Yi Chan's hearing come back but I'm glad it didn't; it's just something that has to happen to him for no reason the way these things just happen sometimes. The characters were well-crafted and the acting was great. Kinda slow paced, there were certain episodes where I was like nothing really happened, but I guess that's the point of the slice of life aspect in some cases; just watching the characters exist alone and together.I was into the ChCh romance from the get-go and thought they were sooo cute whereas EunEun were a more fun menace pair who I just liked to watch fighting before it gradually became a couple I shipped Very Much. Also, a shoutout to my Se Kyeong (OG, not Eun Yoo) and Chung Ah ship, I can't believe Se Kyeong's first love was her husband instead of Chung Ah. A well-crafted show, good acting, hit some feels and I expect some attachment to it (I'm rewatching and skimming certain parts as I write lol).

Initial Impression: Hadn't heard much about it until I saw Pocha Playlist podcast covering it but I didn't listen to that episode. Then I find out that Lee Dohyun plays a (reincarnation) character in it and now I'm like hmm maybe + the rating and reception seems really good on MDL.
Overall Impression: Weird to rate just this half-show 4 episodes but really good and interesting, I'm enjoying it a lot. My favourite eps are eps 2 and 4, they balanced a good amount of heart with excitement (for ep 2) and plot progression/answers (ep 4 + ofc Lee Dohyun my initial reason for checking out the show). The 18 Again characters/actors are haunting me with this fr.

I grew up on kinkmeme rules, so I don’t particularly care to control what people do with fictional characters, whether it’s my cup of tea or not. I don’t align with anti beliefs on puritanism within fandom. I think ppl should just tag things so they can be avoided at will.
This is not a space for radfems, tradfems, or white supremacists.
I am a very political person, but this is not really a political space, for the sake of my mental health. I’m a queer latine living in Texas, and sometimes I need to not think about the fact that my government wishes I were dead. 👍 Me not engaging with a political or activist post is not a moral failing. I'm re-watching Thirteen's era in lead up to the Centenary and since this is likely going to be my last full re-watch for a while I thought I'd do a post on each ep where I just go over all the things I love, hate or just have some general thoughts on.

I love that she talks to the other prisoners like ofc she does lmao
Obviously Ryan has never been as attached to 13 as Yaz but I wonder if part of why it’s easier for him to move on and get on with life even if probs especially at the beginning he did miss her is bc he’s had to deal with similar shit with his dad leaving him
Yaz literally living in the TARDIS and just her general obsessive vibe in the first scene she’s in is chef’s kiss actually
The fact this ep was low-key presented as being the fam figuring shit out while the Doctor is in prison but then that doesn’t even happen is weird to me like I don’t even care that they Don’t do all that themselves, it’s just weird that it was kinda implied in the marketing
When I first saw 13 and Jack reunite when the ep aired I literally started crying. And I cried again when they hugged. It doesn’t get me quite as fucked up now but I do still love it a lot. Bringing Jack back was a cool idea, shame John is a twat
There’s just something about 13’s face when they hug like she’s been away from people for so long and she’s generally not that touchy but this is Jack and UGH I’m fine
The whole scene of Jack and 13 in the TARDIS is cute tbh, I love their vibe together
Imo ‘rough few decades’ implies she spent at least 30 years but probably more like 40 years in prison
Yaz’s hope/desperation here is my fave
The way she just jumps out the TARDIS and exclaims she was in ‘space jail’ like it was a fun time fucks me up like the mask is back on right away

This is so uncomfortable like I think Jack’s flirting is funny but Graham’s reaction is insane like he does not want to be there at all. I remember from this scene some ppl were like lol Graham is flustered like no bro Graham is fearing for his life. Weird choice idk
I know the main focus is on how Yaz is fucked up by the Doctor leaving but God you can tell it got to Ryan too, his whole vibe is different, like he feels annoyed/let down
I love the Rose reference, just casual as fuck. Part of me wishes we coulda seen 13 face’s when she was brought up but i imagine she probably wouldn’t have had much of a reaction
Jack and Yaz’s chat is chef’s kiss. The way I’m watching all this and she is literally leaving in a couple weeks oh I want to die. Also Mandip plays this so well !!
I love past companions giving current companions advice inject it into my veins!!
I remember when we saw the Dalek land on Yaz in the trailer I thought it was gonna be fr and 13 was gonna go off tryna save Yaz lmao
The entire scene with 13 and Ryan is God tier. One of my fave eps of the show. The growth from Ryan where he’s now the one making ppl open up, them both knowing shit has changed. I know Thasmin is a thing but low-key I’ve always liked the idea that Ryan is 13’s fave
I don’t know if it’s the intention or not but I wonder if the reason Ryan managed to get that info out of 13 is bc she kinda knew that he was gonna choose to leave anyway and knowing he wasn’t gonna stick around made it easier for her to tell him
I’m a fan of the height difference.
‘one day’ aka literally for four years in series 13 and then for ever in just under two irl weeks
I also love that that scene is Yaz kinda starting to get frustrated with the Doctor not telling her shit and then it continues into S13

This is so odd like why did he need to announce that idek. Just feels like a trailer moment. Also I don’t feel too passionate about the fact Jack never died in this ep, like it would’ve been nice but like it’s not the end of the world idk
I don’t get why people care about 13 letting that TARDIS dies or whatever tbh
Robertson is way less annoying in this ep which is weird bc he still feels kinda comically ridiculous idk. But somehow it just works better than in Arachnids
The way she smiles when she comes out of the Ryan hug. Like she’s almost not letting herself be really upset in front of him
remember thinking Ryan and Graham just walking out would be kinda boring but UGH I love it so much and it makes so much sense for their characters to go that way it makes me crazy
Her face in this makes me fucking depressed idek what to say
Such a simple line and yet I am sobbing thank you Chris Chibnall
13 literally considering messing with the timelines to get Ryan and Graham back fucks me up. Also the way Yaz response and the way she says ‘It’s okay to be sad’ is my fave
Ryan and Graham wearing the same outfits as in 11.01 is a bit cringe I can’t lie. I also used to think Grace showing up was really weird but idk, I didn’t mind it this time round
In conclusion, other than the first 8 minutes being an absolute slog that I couldn’t care less about, this ep is chef’s kiss and has so many 10/10 amazing moments. Loved it more than i thought I did tbh
