“School literally doesn’t care about you unless you’re good at writing stuff down or you’re good at memorising or you can solve bloody maths equations. What about the other important things in life?”

It's the most wonderful time of the year - baby praying mantis season!
I haven't posted any new photos in a month or so for reasons, not least that it's been fun to look through old pictures and give them another chance at love, or views, or whatever. But yesterday I spotted the first praying mantis babies of the season, and that calls for a change of pace. Shoot, I think it should be a holiday.
The earliest I have ever seen mantis babies here is April 14. So, April 21 is right on time. I found at least five individuals, and they are so tiny and well-camouflaged that it certainly means there are lots more I haven't seen.
Hooray, and happy Baby Mantis Season!
Cochise County, Arizona, April 2024.

IT'S SOLITAIRE DAY!
Criteria of the day:
Make sure your school isn't burning down, if it is you should probably call someone
If it's cold, wear lots of layers
If you watched any films last night, pretend you didn't
If you have printed out a blog's posts and stuck them in your room obsessively, take them down if you haven't done it last night
Leave your house at 5:24am exactly (unless you absolutely can't; if you can't, pretend you did)
Have a can of unopened diet lemonade with you all day at all times
Call that friend you haven't spoken to in a while
Hang up on said friend when they tell you to go home if you have left the house
DO NOT BREAK INTO YOUR SCHOOL, though if unavoidable, you do you.
If your school is burning down, GET THE FUCK OUT and don't stay in there
And most importantly, please DO NOT try and commit suicide. Talk to someone, and please get help. It may not make you feel immediately better or 'fix you' but know you are appreciated and loved and you belong in this world. (If you need to talk to anyone, feel free to message me)

the irony of nat going out for hours every single day to hunt food for a group of girls who do absolutely nothing but sit around and hallucinate all day only for the same girls who have never hunted a day in their lives to not even hesitate in grabbing spears and weapons to hunt her

"You never told me where you got it - where you got all my favourite dresses."
Rhys arched a dark brow. "You never figured it out?"
I shook my head.
For a moment, he said nothing, his head dipping to study the dress.
"My mother made them."
(...)
I gazed a reverant hand down my sleeve. "I- I had no idea."
His eyes were star bright. "Long ago when I was still a boy, she made them - all your gowns. A trousseau for my future bride." His throat bobbed. "Every piece... Every piece I have ever given you to wear, she made them. For you"
Sometimes you just read something and can't help but think about the implications.
"aww how sweet his mom made all her favourite gowns how wholesome" nonono EVERY. PIECE. Ma'am please he's still a baby boy you're making a lot of assumptions about his future preferences.
