What advice would you give to a simmer just starting out writing stories with their sims? How do you build engagement with your posts? How do you write such addictive stories?
Wow! Okay. Buckle in because this will be a long one. I think the most important thing is writing for yourself first and foremost. Don't let your passion be driven solely by engagement (though it's impossible not to be motivated by it a little bit!) but by your own desire to see your project through. I've been a creative writer forever, and 75% of that writing has been written for an audience of one. But sometimes a character or concept will grab me by the throat and refuse to let go, and that's what keeps me invested. I unfortunately can't tell you how that happens. It usually feels like a happy accident. But when it does, it comes through, and readers will want in on it too. That being said, here are some tips for actual presentation:
Engaging visuals. I don't think Reshade or fancy editing is a requirement, but I can't pretend I didn't see a huge uptick in engagement when I started using it. Now, that may also be because I started thinking more about the composition of a shot. Diversify your angles and perspectives, and don't be afraid to zoom way in or out! Move that camera around as much as possible! I know very little about the technicalities of film and photography, but I think the more you practice, the better your eye becomes for what looks dynamic.
Legible captions. I'll be brutally honest: when I'm scrolling the dash, I'm less likely to stop for story posts if the text on the images is not immediately readable. I've by no means perfected this, but I've tweaked my own text over time to make it larger, and I find that very light colors with a black border is almost always the best option. I also try to visualize leaving space for the text to fit as I'm taking shots (though I sometimes forget).
Text-only transcript. My controversial opinion is that I don't like reading transcripts because it's easier for me to engage and follow along if I can see the images and words interacting. BUT I still think it's important to include them, so I always have one under the cut. If you'd rather not do captions on images at all, I personally find it more engaging for the text to be broken up throughout rather than in a big chunk at the end. This is especially helpful if you're writing more descriptive prose, as most people (including me) unfortunately have very short attention spans.
Adaptability! It's helpful to have an outline (whether it's in your head or written) of where you want to end up and how you're going to get there, but the most fulfilling part of writing for me is in giving myself license to follow new ideas or let old ones evolve, even if that means going a bit off-track. Also, it's tempting to establish a formula and lock yourself into an aesthetic from the start, but if you feel like something isn't working, don't be afraid to change it up! You'll be unhappy if you stick with it just for consistency's sake, and you'll rob yourself of opportunities to experiment and have fun. I think readers also appreciate a shake-up so that things never start to feel stale.
That's a lot, I know, but hopefully some of it helps. I've only been doing this here for a few months, and I'm also still figuring things out!

@kieraplaysthesims had made this post about looking for new sims created by other simblrs to include in her legacy.
After combing through my gallery for a while, I decided that this family was suitable for a new adventure!
Who are the Dumonts?
The Dumont family is a wealthy family from Britechester consisting of the head of the family Virgilio, his daughter Marianne, little Judith and her best friend Nessy!
Marianne is a young woman of 25 who was unfortunately taken in by a scoundrel who got her pregnant at the age of 15 and then abandoned her and ran away. Her father Virgilio, in order not to cause a scandal in the upper middle class, started travelling with his daughter and now being retired, decided to find stability and a new home for his beloved niece Judith.
Marianne would like to find a husband, but is afraid that prejudices about her early motherhood may not help her in her endeavours. She is very cultured as well as beautiful. Judith is a happy child and is looking forward to making friends. Will this family be able to find happiness?
As you notice, these characters are packed with cc's so I have separated several files so that you can download them safely.

i do! it's a little extra, but i removed the footprint from the frame so i could add any mattress i wanted and my sims could still sleep on it lmao

@kieraplaysthesims I was deleting another ask and deleted yours too! As for choking poses, I'm not going to remember which ones I used, specifically for DA. However, I google most of my poses and tend to find whatever I need no matter how niche. Just put in "ts4 (pose type) poses" and hit enter. You'll find a good variety. So, for example, "ts4 choking poses". Works for pretty much anything.

Favourite Color: A warm forest green but lately I've been enjoying nice deep burgundies when it comes to clothing.
Currently Watching: Reservation Dogs, I have one episode left and I'm not ready for it to be over. 😢
Last Movie: Pride & Prejudice (2005), if this movie wasn't so fantastic I would be embarrassed by how much I rewatch it.
Currently Reading: Nothing exciting at the moment. Just books about babies and birth.
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: I couldn't eat anything sweet or sugary for the first 3 months of my pregnancy without feeling sick to my stomach so it's been savoury all the way. Spicy just equals heartburn right now.
Last Thing I Googled: Stroller and crib comparisons 💀 everything is so expensive!

Last Song: Paul Revere by Noah Kahan, that whole album is like listening to my youth in rural New England ahah.
Favorite Color: It frequently changes, right now I'm vibing with warm saturated jewel-y tones right now. I'm particularly into a warm slate blue currently.
Currently Watching: A couple things, were watching Ahsoka and Lower Decks as it comes out, but also catching up on The Next Generation. When I'm just watching alone I've finally been trying SVU.
Last Movie: I don't frequently watch movies, but the last one was Happiness for Beginners, which I watched while home sick. It was cute and fun, totally recommend!
Currently Reading: Ugh, not much. I went through a total reading phase this summer, but it's really tapered off. I have Ally Carter's The Blonde Identity sitting on my nightstand but I'm being bad and ignoring it. The last book I read that I totally dug was A Natural History of Dragons, which was very well done.
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Never spicy, kinda a combo of the other two right now, I'm getting excited for all the fall coming and baking.
Last Thing I Googled: The last three are really funny so I'm listing them in order:
